The Equestrian Civil War
Chapter 2- A meeting with the mare-
AN: Well here we are with chapter 2 of our story. I know there were some minor writing problems in my last chapter but I will keep a close eye this time. Also we got permission from Doc Anubis to use his OC in our story so we shall put our green pegasus friend to good use. Remember the Story takes place a little after the Canterlot Wedding. Twilight still isn't an Alicorn, Discord is still in stone and Tirek still in Tartarus. So let's begin chapter 2. -Trifosu out-
The road to Cloudsdale is quiet as Twilight and the girls take the chariot up in the city of clouds. Rainbow just reads a pamphlet about Thunder Wave and her wings can't stop twitching.
'My gosh, my gosh…we will be really meeting general Thunder Wave…in fresh and bones' speaks the ever enthusiastic rainbow pegasus. Rarity while filling her fabulous hooves rolls her eyes.
'Rainbow dash! Please control yourself. We will speak to a very important war hero and the current head of the Wonderbotls." speaks Rarity as Rainbow pouts and looks away and enjoys the view as they ascent up. Twilight keeps quiet but her mind is racing….'Why would a pegasus wonderbolt show rebellion to Queen Celestia and Queen Luna? Celestia alone ensured 1000 years of peace and harmony and Luna reformed herself with our help…..I just don't get it'. Her mind thoughts are broken as Applejack nudges her. 'Hey, we arrived, sugarcube. Let's go' speak the western girl as they hop down the carriage, pay the ponies who rode them up and slowly make their way to the Wonderbolt base. Rainbow's eyes can't go any wider. 'WE ARE HERE. WE ARE-' she is cut off as Pinkie closes her snout with her hooves and leans close to speak 'Shh do not let them see us. I have a special surprise for General Thunder Wave'. And knowing not to ever argue with Pinkie all the girls walk quietly down the base. And while looking around Rainbow bumps into a wonderbolt and she falls to the ground. 'Offf'. She looks up and sees the pony she bumped into is no other than Spitfire herself. Rainbow gasps and is quick to pull herself up and salute like how she remembered other wonderbolts do. 'Um…sorry to bump into you…Ma'am…Captain...Boss' smiles Rainbow nervously as the girls roll their eyes...well except for Fluttershy who just giggles and Spitfire just dusts herself off and looks into her list of papers.
'It's whatever, kiddo. Just be careful next time' speaks Spitfire lowering her glasses and she looks at Twilight. 'Ms. Sparkle. Are you and the girls the ones who had a meeting arranged with General Thunder Wave right about now?' and Twilight is quick to nod.
'Yes we are the ones, Captain Spitfire. May you show us where Thunder Wave's office is?' Smiles Twilight kindly and Spitfire snorts amused, catching the girls by surprise… .Rarity bewildered asks 'Darling…why are you laughing…did Twilight say something funny?'
After wiping a tear away Spitfire points to an old war tent that is fairly large with her wing 'That is General Thunder Wave's (she makes air quotes with her wings) Office. The old horse still uses her duty tent as an office even if Queen Celestia offered her a nice office at Canterlot Castle.'. That is even more confusing. Why refuse an office in the castle where you are treated like…royalty? The closer they get to this general the most questions pop into Twilight's head. Without too much to argue or ask they go into the tent without knocking as it does not have a door. The inside is…disappointing to say the least. Just some basic steel chairs for meetings. A quick to assemble drawer with some rations and a wardrobe with Thunder Wave's uniforms. Thunder Wave herself sits at her most bland chair at a dented steel table and it looks like she was enjoying a quick Mre. She rolls her eyes and takes off her pair of shades and her left eye scar is now visible and she speaks in quite an annoyed and bored tone.
'Hi…how can I help you? Are you some…wonderbolt fans or something? I am a busy pony so I don't have time for paparazzi'. Thunder Wave as she puts down her meal and cleans her messy snout with her hoof not even bothering to use a napkin and that makes Rarity gag in mild disgust at the lack of manners. Rainbow is quick to lounge at her table nearly falling over her and she speaks with joy like a little filly who got a nice present from their mare.
'GENERAL THUNDER WAVE! I am Rainbow Dash, huge fan of the Wonderbolts, and you…and your story of how you defeated the bug invaders and and-' she is roughly caught off as Thunder Wave grabs her by the chin digging her hoof hard and she grows with a surprising anger. 'SO WHAT IF I DID, HUH?' snarls Thunder Wave and the mane six are quite worried for such a ferocious response considering Rainbow just said she is a fan. Worried Twilight is quick to pull Rainbow back and she clears her throat to get the General's attention. 'General Thunder Wave…with all due respect…can we have a normal…talk please? We understand your possible trauma from the battle you endured and I deeply apologize for the way Rainbow Dash acted…but now can we please move on?' speaks Twilight calmly trying to be the middle mare to please both her friends and the pegasus war vet. And Thunder Wave leans back in her chair and crosses her hind legs. 'Sure Ms. Twilight…take a seat please all of you.'. The girls all sit on the chairs and Thunder places her hooves on her table 'Now would you please enlighten me as to why Queen Celestia sent her Elements of Harmony to my office when I am very busy with a project I have been working on?' says Thunder Wave, still a bit angry but she calms down ever so slightly. The girls look at each other not knowing who should explain the reason for the visit but Fluttershy being the Element of Kindness decides to and she stands up and she speaks a bit louder then she usually would.
'General Thunder Wave…Queen Celestia told us to meet you today to discuss your…how should we put it…behavior issues.'. Thunder Wave's eyes narrow as Rarity adds 'We believe that no matter the situation it is inappropriate to act in such a way in front of our dear Queens who want nothing but our good, Darling.' Thunder seems to think about her response and she looks at the banner in her tent and she looks back at the 6 and opens her mouth.
'My behavior is my own to have. You have no idea what I saw or did that way…I don't care if I am talking to the Queens…this whole invasion would have not happened in the first place if the ponies had more attention to the fake Cadance. You all were sooo busy with that stupid wedding that we almost lost the Canterlot and all of Equestria would have become nothing but a buffet for the changelings.' This response is met with slight serious looks and Twilight specifically is a little insulted and she stands up and walks in front of Thunder's desk. 'I will not allow you to insult my brother's wedding in this manner…Shining Armor was controlled by Queen Chrysalis and he had no way to defy her spell. You should be grateful they stopped the invasion with the power of love!'. In a split second Thunder with her right wing grabs Twilight by the neck and slams her head down on the table and has a cold killer look in her eyes. 'Watch your bucking words with me, Element of Magic. You think just because you are Celestia's pupil you deserve any special treatment?'. The girls jump up and rush to pull twilight away but a flap from Thunder's free wing pushes them back. She is named Thunder for making powerful thunders with her wings and a nice shockwave to go with it. Thunder Wave continues as Twilight pant for air
'Me to be grateful? Do you know what I lost that day?' growls Thunder as her good right eye tears up in anger. 'I lost my wingmare and some of my best fliers on that stupid day! NOTHING IS DONE TO AVOID THAT! I asked countless times from the Queens to allow me to expand the Wonderbolts! We need more wings in the sky, but NOOO. Of course not. Apparently if we arm ourselves in self defense we suddenly upset our griffon and yack neighbors and now we are stuck with a small division of fliers, a very thin spread royal guard that has no means to quickly cover the vast kingdom in case of need and our strongest weapon, The elements of Harmony are given to An arrogant smug brat, An apple farmer, The most shy pony in existence, A party jester, The worst drama queen I have ever seen and worst of them all…..her eyes lock on twilight…the queen's pupil who is biased to believe every lie that Celestia tell her. You are all PATHETIC' and she lets go of Twilight and leans back to let the words sink in….the mane six are hurt, insulted and devastated…how dare this scarred pegasus insult the ones who cured Luna from Nightmare moon and remade Discord into stone….and Rarity tears up and weeps in her queenly fashion 'How…How…HOW DARE YOU! We are the elements of harmony….we only want the good of the ponies, why do you need to be so mean to us!'
'Because of my own beliefs, unicorn' replies Thunder Wave coldly. 'You all see it ... .we still rebuilt the city after a bucking month! The only workforce I see is my wonderbolts put to laborious work when we should defend the aero space of Equestria and a couple of earth pony workers….I see none of the unicorn nobility that actually lives in Canterlot lift a hoof to help build their actual homes that were damaged. So my behavior is none of your concern.' glares Thunder Wave as Twilight puts some pieces together…Thunder Wave clearly has a problem with other tribes except for her pegasus ponies. The way she uses the word 'unicorn' clearly means she hates other ponies who in her eyes don't even work to rebuild their own homes and let the lower classes do all the work. 'General….do you hate the unicorn nobility in any way?' asks Twilight boldly and Thunder Wave narrows her good eye and scoffs. 'Tsk. As if we have other nobilities, Sparkle…we only have unicorn nobles. Can't you see the amount of disrespect the other ponies get?'. All the girls at this point see Thunder Wave as a clear pegasus supremacist and her hate towards the rich unicorns is evident. Rainbow dash snarls and she hovers above her face. 'You…I saw you as my hero. But seeing you like this…making a mockery out of Spitfire's Wonderbolts...being this pegasus war mare ... .Maybe you should have retired, old horse. Your neighs are over' proclaims Rainbow dash and the girls gasp at the nerve and Thunder is left speechless. She looks down in hate and speaks in a soft and cold voice.
'I heard enough….go away…you had your stay. GO NOW' snaps Thunder stomping her hoof down the bent table breaking it in half. The mane six are quick to leave the tent and Spitfire escorts them out, she overheard some words and she knows the Elements of Harmony really made Thunder Wave angry. As the girls leave Cloudsdale to report back to Celestia in person…Thunder now alone in her tent reaches into a secret drawer of her shelf and she pulls out a folder that contains her little secret project 'Operation Thunderbolt'. She smiles slightly 'Soon enough…Celestia…soon enough' chuckles Thunder Wave to herself.
Now in Canterlot…
'Can you believe how she insulted us? The nerve…' speaks Rarity as the six walk the still rebuilding city of Canterlot. Pinkie looks at a damaged bakery and she giggles 'The changelings really messed up the city huh?'. They all nod in agreement. Twilight looks to the right and she sees a green pegasus guy at the messed up school cleaning up some rubble. Being a scholar herself she walks to the pony. 'Excuse me, Sir. Can I help you to clean up the rubble? This school needs some serious help.' Smiles Twilight as she levitates the rubble. The pegasus nods his head and smiles in appreciation 'Thank you, Ms. I am Anubis. Professor Anubis at this school for fillies and colts.' and he offers a hoof. Twilight nods back and shakes hooves with him. She raises an eyebrow however 'Anubis, sir…you the ponies outside the weeping had it worse during the attack…can you tell me what you saw?'. Anubis takes a deep breath and looks back at his workplace building. 'Well…it came fast. The changelings were relentless. I for one took as many ponies in my school and used it as a small fort. As you can see it held up but barely. I did hear our Wonderbolts battle the invaders in the sky. General Thunder Wave was a beast. When Princess Cadance and Captain Shining Armor banished the Changelings with their love spell, I rushed outside and saw the damage…well you still the results. Damaged buildings, some hurt ponies. I even found a poor Thunder Wave passed out at a bar trying to seal her eye wound. She was covered in bites and claw marks mane to rump. If I didn't arrive to check on her, she would have most likely succumbed to her wounds.' speaks Anubis remembering the events. Twilight and the girls nod in understanding but Rainbow Dash seems a little angry and she lands in front of Anubis and gets right in his face nearly knocking out the glasses off his eyes 'And why didn't you help? You are a pegasus like me or the Wonderbolts. We could have used a pair of wings to help us.'. Doc sights 'I understand your anger. It is true I chose to hide but I am a professor. I teach at my school the young minds of the future. I am not a soldier. I am a poor flier and my slight fear of heights limits my use as a royal guard or wonderbolt.' And to his defense Applejack grabs Rainbow's tail with her mouth and pulls her back 'Hold on Dashie. Let the poor pony alone.' And Applejack smiles kindly at Anubis. 'Don't worry, Sugarcube, I am sure you tried your best' and after helping him clean the rubble the mane six leave for the castle to report the talk with the General to Queen Celestia and Luna.

AN: Well here we are. Another chapter done. I hope this one does not have that many spelling or grammar issues as the last. Thanks again to Doc Anubis for allowing me to use his OC (You are the coolest plus 20% to that Doc). A storm seems to slowly set in Equestria. What might 'Operation Thunderbolt' mean? How will the Queens react to the story and will our poor green pegasus return in the story? We will see in chapter 3. Until them, bye.
