This is a fanfic based on Monsters University and Monsters Inc. Not including the part of Monsters at Work, as I don't have Disney Plus and don't want to experience it. And it will be based on an OC, a human/monster hybrid named Barri 'Bigfoot' Ishinson. With this out of the way, let's begin.

The lights of Christmas were very bright in 2023, and the world seemed to not be in a good state, with tons of war and issues arising for everyone. Some people found any reason to complain for any reason, whether it be the Grinch Walmart commercial missing the point of the original from the 60's, or the fact that the modern Christmas songs weren't as good as the originals, even to the point of saying original Christmas cartoons like Rudolph and Veggietales were offensive for stupid reasons. Seriously, how can vegetables be racist? They don't have race, idiots!

Okay, rant over, my town wasn't a part of that. I lived in a small town on the outskirts of New York City, which was a blessing, as New York, New York was a very crowded place that made my claustrophobia go up to 99 out of 10! And as for my location, I was living in a small house atop a hill in a small community on the other side of the train tracks. I lived in that house with my little sister, Ingrid, and my older brother, Patrick. But most people steered clear of my family, as our family history wasn't really... normal.

See, each of the members in my family had strange birth defects, as our history was filled with members that premiered in freak shows. My brother Patrick had lobster hands as well as having a very bad skin condition that molted like a snakeskin every month. My little sister got our aunt's genes in her, having a human tail that was skinny as a rat's and her ears being deformed to look like cat ears, which also hurt her hearing greatly. She had ear problems since birth, so we had to make sure she always got her ear drops at night.

And as for me, I got my mother's genes down pat. And by that, I mean that I had a very flat chest, a tall figure, and I had hair all over my body, to the point that, if I ever was walking in the forest, I had to make sure I was clothed in bright orange clothes, lest someone mistook me for Bigfoot himself. It's why I was called Barri Bigfoot, not just because of the hair and height, but because my feet were HUGE, the size of a men's 15!

But for some reason, every night for a good three nights, Ingrid was screaming in fear from... something. And every time I tried to check on her to make sure everything was alright, the little 6-year-old would explain that there were strange creatures coming from her closet to steal her away... now, normally I WOULD say it were bogus, but I actually witnessed her closet door closing on the second night while she was in her bed, meaning that there WAS something going on!

I half tried to suggest an exorcism, but no, that wouldn't be the best way to go about it. Instead, I hid myself in her room on the third night, hiding myself as a stuffed animal in her stuffie collection (it was FILLED with stuffed animals that were just a few inches smaller than me) and, lo and behold, when midnight happened, the door to the closet opened... and under the cover of night, I witnessed the trio that appeared... and I was SPEECHLESS! One of them was a balding spider creature, another was a very hairy and blue-furred yeti, and the final was a tall woman-like creature with yellow skin, orange stripes, and very long claws that extended and tried to snatch the girl, her screaming at a softer volume, knowing I was in there. I waited until the trio grabbed her and I then used that time to exit the room and, of course, where would I end up but Monsters Inc! Why? Because the three that had went inside the room to try and steal Ingrid away were Courtney 'Killer Claws' Bonitez, Bill Sullivan, and Waternoose! I had no idea he had help kidnapping kids as far back as this!

Regardless, I waited behind the door on the other side and saw that they had managed to take Ingrid out of my room and then close the door and power it off.

"Hold it!" I shouted at the trio, which they gasped at as I then emerged from the other side, which Waternoose gasped at me.

"Ah! Barri Bigfoot?! What are you doing here?!" he asked, me being surprised... was that...? I had to just play along, I guessed.

"I try to get a family life among the humans and what do I see? You stealing away a child from her room into the monster world!" I said as I then walked closer to them, my height being way bigger than the three of them, at least four inches taller than even Bill Sullivan! And they looked very scared. "Just wait until the CDA hears about this! Unless you do as I say, they're hearing all of this," I said, which Courtney gasped at.

"No, no, no, don't do that! We'd be shut down, then we'd run out of power!" Courtney said, her voice sounding very squeaky, which I didn't expect.

"My record would be ruined if the CDA found out!" Bill Sullivan said, me then looking at Waternoose and him looking concerned before then frowning.

"Fine, what is it that you want, Barri?" he frowned at me.

"I want you to do three things. Firstly, let the girl back into her room," I said, them gulping and nodding and letting Ingrid go, her then rushing to me and hugging me, which Courtney was scared by, as she, Waternoose, and Bill were all wearing gloves and protective gear. But I let Ingrid touch me to give them the memo.

"Don't go, Barri... I'm scared..." she said, me frowning and hugging her.

"Your brother can take care of you. I need to help others out... plus, I fit in better here," I said with a wink, her sniffing at me.

"O-Okay... please, come visit, though?" she asked, me nodding and pinky swearing with her, which she then ran into her door after I turned it back on, her then rushing in and slamming the door, me turning it off after and for the trio to look at me in concern.

"Next, you are to do the paperwork to un-banish me and make me a citizen again. And finally, NEVER kidnap a child again! I don't know what kind of recession you're going through as of now, but if I hear that there's anything funny going on here in the future, I'm going to give information to the CDA, got it?" I frowned at them, which Waternoose looked angered at as he then spoke.

"Our city is having a scream shortage. We've been needing to make doors from later points in time to balance out the older doors, and the kids are harder to scare," Waternoose said, me frowning at him.

"Tell me, what is the ending of these 'old doors' and the starting date of the new doors?" I asked him.

"The older doors were up to 1920. And the newest doors were started in 2009," he said.

"Well, there's your problem. You should at the very least start making the doors from 1980 onwards, not as far in time as that," I frowned.

"Fine, we'll try that out... but how did you know what was going on with that door in specific?" Watenoose asked in annoyance, every wrinkle on his face furrowing when he did so.

"I know enough to know that when a closet door slams after rushing in to check on a kid, that something's going on," I said. "Especially if it closes on its own after I rush in to check on a little girl who, the night before, said some monsters were trying to steal her away," I frowned at them.

"OKAY! You made your point! Just, please, don't go to the authorities!" Bill said, me looking at him with seriousness.

"Just do as I said and I'll stay quiet. But I'm going to need to ask one more thing of you, specifically, since you were the one who grabbed the girl. You retire," I said, him gawking at that.

"You can't be serious! He's about to break the world record for longest time holding the highest scare record! He's about to break Earl Thompsan's record of 3 years and 2 months!" Courtney said with concern.

"Well, maybe he should've thought about that before grabbing a kid as young as 6 for some kind of scream harvesting," I frowned, the trio frowning at me.

"How much do you know?" Waternoose asked.

"Not too much, but I know that if you're stooping to kidnapping and it's for a scream shortage, that's the reason for sure," I frowned.

"DAMMIT! Ugh, I need to keep my big mouth shut... let's just go do the paperwork... Bill Sullivan, I think we should listen to her," Waternoose said, me now knowing that Bigfoot was definitely a female with the same name as I had... for some bizarre reason. And after being escorted to the area in question, I then made a comment that I needed to know.

"So how long have I been gone?" I asked them.

"About 15 years," Waternoose said, me frowning at that.

"Obviously. This place seems to be different than I'm used to," I said, speaking about the part of Roz's office, which was not actually owned by Roz at this time, but it being what looked to be a girl who was from Monsters University, as she had a hair bow that was from there and her hair was almost like seaweed, her having three eyes on her face.

"Oh my gosh! Barri Bigfoot?! What are you doing here?!" the girl asked in surprise.

"We need to go through some paperwork to un-banish her, if that's okay... but as for you becoming a member of Monsters Inc again, unfortunately the answer is no," Waternoose said, me looking at him with a frown.

"How about this. Go with my plan involving the doors and, if it doesn't work, then I'll eat my own words and I go back to being banished. If it does work, I get to be able to apply to Monsters University and get reschooled with the more modern stuff to learn," I said, Waternoose frowning at me, but he put his clawed fingers to his chin.

"Hmm... very well, that's a deal I can get behind," he said, him holding his hand out and me then shaking his hand, me being surprised by his firm grip, but shaking it as best I could. And then, after that, the un-banishment had happened and Waternoose then proceeded to get the preparations for the other things. Namely making doors from 1980-1999, which would be the best years to do so with, as those would be better for gathering scream, at least until it could be proven that human laughter was the best medicine... but I did need to test if I was compatible or not, regardless.

After all that happened, it took only a week for everything to have happened the way it should've. The doors in question worked flawlessly for scaring the kids, especially the ones from the 80s to early 90s, so that did mean that this world was actually our future? And they went back in time to get children screams in order to convert them into power via a very odd system where they turned high-pitched human soundwaves into pure energy, which was actually why there were 15 different Monsters Inc. places in the world, with each one being a power plant capable of running at least half of North America for each one!

But I also did one more thing and that was copy the door that was used for my sister's closet, which I saw was via combining the electronics of the lightbulb along with the door machine and the door itself. Doing all of this together would allow someone to enter a door from the past, which I then saw that this world was in the year 13,439, which meant over 10,00 years in my world's future was when we'd be here... huh... so I guess the Pixar theory where almost every movie exists in the same universe was true!... Maybe aside from Cars, Elemental, and Onward.

Regardless, I then proceeded to sign up for Monsters University of Boosburgh, which I saw was actually in the newer version of Pittsburgh, which I smiled at how stupid that sounded. I also learned that, huge coincidence, it was going to be the same exact semester that Mike and Sully would be attending! And since I was taking ALL of the classes for FREE I knew I'd have to prove my worth in the scare program as well... and also see if I could get in on the Oozma Kappa antics.

And when I arrived, I then proceeded to be on the very same bus that Mike Wazowski was on. And, of course, him being the biggest scaring fan of all, he looked at me with confusion.

"Um, excuse me, forgive me for being curious, but... are you Barri Bigfoot?" he asked, me blushing at that.

"Um... it's extremely complicated and it's also a secret, so I'll tell you if you promise not to tell anyone, especially anyone from Monsters Inc, okay?" I asked, him nodding at me.

"I promise," he smirked. I then proceeded to share what I'd found out after learning everything I had thus far about when Barri Bigfoot had been sent to be banished, and how it was also my great grandmother's name.

"I'm... I think that, after what I've looked into from my past... I'm actually her great granddaughter from her time in banishment... and uh, here's one more trade secret that NO ONE must know, as I know it to be true," I said before going to his ear hole, right under his left horn, as I was sitting next to him on the bus. "I'm not fully monster... I'm a crossbreed of multiple generations... of human and monster crossbreeding," I said, Mike gawking at that and looking at me in shock. "My little sister happens to have a tail and cat ears, which made her hearing messed up, and my brother has lobster hands and his skin molts like a reptilian monster... and those ones happened to be from a cat-like monster called Chupacabra and Nessy Loch, which my world refers to as the Loch Ness Monster," I explained.

"I see... so your family history contains humans mixed with monsters... so... does that mean what I think you're telling me?" Mike asked.

"Humans aren't toxic to monsters... my only guess, the Waternoose family history, who started the whole screams for power program, must've done some bad studies to say humans were poisonous to monsters... just, PROMISE me, no ifs ands or buts, NOBODY knows this. In exchange, I'll assist both you and myself in the scaring program," I smiled at him.

"Huh... being trained by a relative of multiple famous monsters would be interesting... y'know what? Count me in!" he smiled as he then gave me a fist bump, me smiling at him and nodding. And after five more minutes of bus riding, we then finally arrived at the campus, which everything looked as it did in the movies, oddly enough. Must've been the radiation from WALL-E's world prior that made everything look this way. I then proceeded to follow with Mike Wazowski through all of his different experiences on the first day, which included signing up for the Scare Games, which would occur in October and that it actually consisted of 6 different games rather than 5, which surprised me for sure, but I also saw that the games were as follows:

1: Avoid the toxic toys

2: Be careful and don't get caught by the parents

3: Frighten children, not teenagers

4: Stay hidden if you hear the parents coming

5: Make sure the kids don't touch you (of course that'd be another test)

6: Prove you're the best with the Scare Simulator.

Oh, and one more thing, each team consisted of 8 different monsters! So that meant that I had to join Oozma Kappa and compete as well, lest the story get screwy with! And I also saw that Oozma Kappa themselves had one extra member on the team, it being a female monster that had seaweed-like hair, a narwhal nose, a lime green dress, and she was currently eating bubblegum as opposed to chewing it. and pink skin that was almost like rubber.

"Um, hello there, is this where I sign up to join a Frat/Sorority?" I asked, which the group smiled at me.

"Hello... uh, this one is not really that big, so I don't know why you'd want to join us," said Don, which I smiled at him.

"I know, but I like to stand up for the little guys... and girls," I smirked.

"Well, howdy, that's what Ah kin git behind!" said the voice of the girl in question. "Name's Narleen Whalnar, and Ah'm the only girl on Oozma Kappa," she smirked at me, which I expected. She looked exactly like the character from Spongebob's spinoff show. "We all used to be on the Scare Programmy, but ol' Hardscrabble just thought we dinnit have whut it took. Said we dinnit look scary at all," Narleeen frowned. And I sighed at that and smiled at her.

"I dunno, I don't think it depends on the looks, it depends on how you scare them," I smiled. "I have a grandmother who was a part of Monsters Inc, and she said that scarers come in all shapes and sizes. They use their differences to their advantage. Some have multiple heads, some look cute before turning terrifying, others have the element of surprise, and others are super old and have held records for quite a long time." And after I spoke those words, the group looked at each other before smiling widely.

"Welcome to the misfits, then! What's your name?" asked Terri.

"I'm Barri Bigfoot, named after my grandmother. But keep that part hush hush, okay? As for what to call me while I'm here, this is my surname I've used," I said as I then showed them my fake name, which they looked at in surprise.

"Uh... Coco Bandifoot? What's a Bandifoot?" Don asked.

"I just changed one letter to make it different... trade secret as to the origin, I'll tell you later at the frat house... location?" I asked as I signed up to join Oozma Kappa.

"It's the only frat house on campus that looks like a domestic home... it's my mom's house," said Squishy, me smirking at him and his five eyes.

"I'll keep that in mind. And hopefully I can room with Narleen. Girl power and all that, right?" I smiled.

"Haha, yeah, Ah've been hoping for a roommate for a while," the narwhal smirked widely as I then proceeded to go to my first class, that being the door production facility. I had to make sure that I could make a door correctly, just in case I could see my sister again.
