Marinette never thought she would be lonely in an MMORPG. She was technically playing with her friends Nino and Alya but their starting jobs had landed them in a different city than Marinette's had. She had created an Au Ra Thaumaturge and ended up in Gridania while they were in Ul'dah. It would be a long time into the MSQ, as Max called it, before she would be able to party up with them to take on challenges. She walked her dragon girl up to the Adventurer's guild. She had done her best to make the girl look like herself and was quite proud of the outcome.
She heard a chime and looked down at the chat box to see a message from someone called Z'oe Lee. She looked aronf her character and found a blonde female Miqo'te standing nearby, her cat eyes a bright blue. The girl was dressed in the cat folks starting gear and has a spear on her back.
'Hello,' the message read. 'You new here as well?'
She reached out and responded to the tell, glad that Max had covered how to do that in their crash course in Final Fantasy 14.
'Yep, just started now. I'm gonna be playing with some friends once we can meet up, but they are over in Ul'dah doing their starting quests.'
There was a moment before a response came from the player on the other end of the avatar. 'Mind if I ask you some questions? My friends Aeon and Jess begged me to play with them but they are late gamers and I feel like the water is at my neck here.'
Marinette smiled as she typed a response. 'Had a similar problem, though was lucky my best friend and her boyfriend were also just starting. Why don't we party up and we can work together? I got Discord if you would rather chat there.'
The reply was quick. 'Please!'
Marinette put on her headset and once she had the girl's username, sent her an invite. The first time she heard the voice of Gamergurl Zoe, it sounded like music to her ears.

Zoe thanked whatever lucky stars had made her team up with the raven haired Au Ra avatar of MDCdesigns. They pushed through the MSQ and their job quests together. Even though neither Zoe or Marinette could actually help the other, they were near by and talking through their Discord party. When the time came and MDC could join her friends, she invited Zoe to be their fourth member.
"We need four for dungeons anyways. I've told them all about you in the last few weeks and they are stoked to have you on board. Please say yes."
She had never seen MDC's face, though she suspected she didn't look too different than her avatar, but she already knew she was madly in love with the girl on the other end of that call. She agreed at once.
Soon, they were doing duties together, the four of them were an unstoppable team. MDC was raid leader, reading up on all the duties in advance and leading them through the content as best she could. They had tried to speak English for Zoe, but she had insisted they speak French.
"Where else can I practice my mother tongue?" She had asked them with a laugh. "I might live in America but I'm a French girl at heart. I so want to return to Paris. Mom says I can in a few months."
MDC had laughed and spoke. "When you do, please come, and visit my family's bakery. We make the best pastries."
Zoe felt her heart soar. She had privately messaged Foxybeach, MDC's best friend, if her crush was seeing another one. All she got back was a winking emoji and asking when she would be able to come to Paris. She had taken this as a sign and tact permission to date her best friend. Zoe had been saving up her spare money to afford a lavish wedding for their characters some day in the game. It came with so many good things you could only access this way. She blushed and put that aside for now, it was time for the next dungeon.
*Miraculous-Zoenette*
A year had passed since they had started this adventure together. They had all reached Endwalker together and were working their way the main story. Marinette smiled as she sat next to her girlfriend, Zoe Lee, the player behind Z'oe. Their characters had matching diamond rings on the left hands as they just sat and watched the sunset over Coast De Sol. Marinette leaned over and wrapped her arms around Zoe.
"I'm so glad I found you online, my gamergurl."
Zoe giggled and leaned in closer. "I'm glad I worked up the courage to randomly message the Au Ra girl standing in that adventure guild all that time ago. I love you, Marinette."
The two girls kissed even as they ordered their avatars to embrace in the game. All was right for them. At least for now.
"Come on." Zoe said excitedly. "We got to clear that last hurdle if we are going to make it to Dawntrail on release."
Marinette giggled. "That's my MMO addict! Let's show that Endsinger whose boss!"
A/N: I hoped you liked this little snippet. I have been thinking of doing Gamer Gurls Zoenette for some time. I know there is not a lot here, but I hope it was sweet. See you next fic.
