"Is this for real?" Sonic said under his breath as he held the invitation in between his finger tips. The thick paper laced with ruby ribbon and cream lace that read 'You're Invited to Our Wedding'. The paper smelled of rose water and coconut; which was actually a great touch. He stared at the invitation as if it would disappear and he would be called upon to recite the information verbatim.

The blue hedgehog raised his eyes to the yellow twin tail fox in front of him. Taking in the maturity in his features like a snack to the face. Tails smiled warmly and his ocean eyes shimmered as he began to explain himself, "I proposed to Cream a couple of months ago. It came out of the blue honestly, I woke up one morning at her apartment and I realized that…" A deep redness tinted his cheeks, but he pressed on, "I realized that I want this. I want her."

He knew Tails and Cream had been dating for almost three years, but he never imagined his best friend would make this monumental decision at such a young age. He never realized Tails would reach this milestone before him.

"You've always had a good head on your shoulders Bud. I suppose your smarts also coincide with having emotional intelligence and self awareness." He let out a small breath that he hadn't realized he was holding onto. "So, guess we are having a wedding."

He was beaming on the inside for his closest friend. Of course this is what he wanted for him. He wanted Tails to find a forever home, it is what he has earned through the obstacles and failures when working alongside him.

Tails' smile only increased as he heard the words of encouragement from his closest friend and mentor. "And you get to be my best man. That is… if you want it."

"I wouldn't ever second guess it man. Of course." He beamed back to the fox. Taking a better look at his friend in front of him he couldn't imagine how time had flown by so quickly. His fur had darkened over the years, and turned more into a golden yellow rather than the soft sunflower hue he had as a kid. His style had almost changed as he grew, taking a more conservative approach. Tails was now always seen wearing a brown leather jacket, some type of khaki utility pants and a T-shirt; gone were his red shoes matching Sonic and replaced with brown working boots. Being a sentimental young man, Tails had the front of his boot painted red, with red shoelaces and white rubber soles; red and white the colors adored by every Team Sonic alumni. His golden bangs had grown in length and were now slicked back between his ears to keep from meddling in his face. He was a handsome young man, and he had grown up in front of the eyes of the blue hero relentlessly.

Sonic rested a gentle hand upon his friend's shoulder, "I'm proud of you kid." And before his friend could mutter any word a hug was shared between the two heroes.

Tails laughed at the sudden show of emotion, and returned the hug with equal sentiment. "Thank you." They were standing in the open garage area of Tails workshop. The sun was setting and a soft breeze entered the room causing the wind chimes to sing. Suddenly that struck a core memory into the fox and caused him to break away from the brotherly moment.

"So uh…" Tails began as Sonic's arms dropped from his embrace, "I want to give you a heads up… Obviously, you are my best friend and will be my best man. Cream will have her best friend as her bridesmaid."

"Amy." He spoke softly. A name that had become alienated from his vocabulary.

The fox nodded, "Y-yes."

He was not in Amy's good graces to say the least. Seeing her only in spluratic moments or during the festive days when everyone gathered together. Amy had focused her efforts on becoming an archeologist after the "defeat" of Eggman. The word defeat is used lightly; he disappeared would be the better term. For the past three years Amy has been out exploring the hidden temples around Mobius. Translating ancient language with scholars from the most prestigious universities, donating her findings to museums for display or working as a wildlife preservationist. She has also dedicated numerous amounts of time to running local charities or banquets for orphaned children; since she herself was orphaned at a young age. Amy has created a world within her own right to be called a hero. It was not her ability to fight robots, but the dedication she showed to keep the natural world in balance.

It was something that the blue hero admired of the pink hedgehog. Something he fell in love with…

"Ok." Sonic digested, "I'll be the best, best man."

The fox sailed brightly. "Thank you Sonic… I'll be heading over to Creams' place tonight by the way."

He smirked, "Better wait till the wedding night to lose that V card."

"W-Wh-Whaat!" Tails screeched in protest. Sonic had always been very brazen with his sexual encounters with women, and never failed to take an opportunity to brag; but Tails on the other hand does not like to kiss and tell. Shaking off the sudden embarrassment, Tails spun around and decided to continue to work on his newest invention rather than arguing with the blue menis. "I'm going back to work."

Sonic crossed his arms and chuckled to the interaction but did not speak out again to stop him. Instead, he decided to walk out into the open field next to the workshop and enjoy some star gazing.

So, I'm going to have to confront her again hmm?

Guess it was only a matter of time…

Needless to say, the two hedgehogs had some history; deep, thick, messy history. He was an idiot back then, being a fresh faced twenty-one year old with no life experience aside fighting Eggman/being a superhero really stunted his growth.

Sonic had known he always had a special place for Amy. His feelings progressively got more apparent as time went on, and it was getting harder to hide. During the era of then living on Seaside Island he became more flirtatious; trying to test the boundaries of their relationship. During battle he would remain beside her, small banter back and forth between the two, and after all the robots were finished he would ask her to train with him to 'better their in battle combos'.

It was all bullshit. He wanted to spend more time with her. He wanted an excuse to invade her space and get a chance to touch her. He was a budding young man at the time with raging hormones. Amy was one of his closest friends and who also happened to be the girl he fancied; so he would allow her to win some of the training sessions. It would always end up with her pinning him against the ground, and her legs straddling him as she held his arms above his head. Or pinning him against a tree with her behind him bending his arm behind his back in submission. Somehow, to his benefit, it always involved pinning him against something; and he would get to feel her body against him.

His hormones guided him through the majority of those naive days. Sleepovers at Amy's place were normal for him. He would rush in just before dinner (claiming Tails burned the food which was a lie) and bring her flowers as a show of appreciation for feeding him. He would stay after dinner to watch a movie or play a board game. Then he would sleep on the couch, claiming he was too tired to run back to the workshop and preferred to just sleep there. All of the lies he told just to spend time with her; and she would allow it.

Somehow… he mustered the courage to push the boundaries some more when he conned his way into her bed to sleep beside her. He played with Amy's heart strings that first night he asked, claiming that he had been having nightmares of prior battles making it hard to sleep. Amy of course stated that she could wait until he drifted off to sleep on the couch before going to bed. He would rebuttal that he did not want her to have to lose sleep either… So, the era of cuddling each other every night as friends began.

He kept telling her, and himself, that they were just friends.

Then, Amy's sixteenth birthday happened.

"Hey let me help you with that," Sonic sped over to Amy as she was attempting to open the sliding door to her hut with a couple of fingers. He took some plates from and slid the door open walking towards the kitchen to set everything down. He was the last one lingering after the party had ended.

Amy let out a sign of relief, "Thank you. I didn't realize how much I was trying to carry."

Sonic nodded in a silent response. He was trying really hard not to gawk at her. She was wearing a red turtle neck top that left her arms exposed, and depending on how she moved or reached for something, you could see some cleavage on from her side profile. Her high waisted shorts made her bottom look extra round and she was now closer in height to him since she was wearing ruby red heels that exposed her white painted toes. Her quills were not significantly long but they were past her shoulder draping her in a cloak, and her bangs had grown out that they almost equaled the same length. She wore a red lip stain and had clearly done makeup tricks to make her eyes look sultry.

He had never seen her in such a revealing outfit before. She was not grown up, and she still carried a lot of youth in her face. Yet, she was no longer the eight year old that ran around declaring her infatuation with the blue hero. She was a young lady who was on the verge of becoming a woman.

He was not one to have a mushy sentiment, but a wave of emotion consumed him as the realization of her growth hit him in that instant. She had grown up in front of him as he did in front of her.

He reached out to her slowly placing his hand on top of hers. She barely reacted to the touch, it had become something so common between them now that she continued to put dishes away with the free hand that wasn't covered by his. "Ames," he called out to her.

She looked over in his direction, "Yes?"

He found himself smiling, a smile that came from the core of his stomach and spread up to the center of his chest. He decided that he was going to listen to the internal voice whispering to him to release himself from his own expectations. It was her birthday after all…

He took her hand in his, using gentle force to spin her around into his arms to face him. He trapped her in between the countertop and his body, with his face only inches away from hers. His eyes danced in amusement as he saw her eyes open wide. He inhaled her warm welcoming scent as he would do every night before falling asleep; brown sugar and cinnamon.

"What's…"

The warm crackling fire in his chest tipped over and ignited every cell in his body as he firmly pressed his lips and himself against her. This was it, this was the day Amy Rose was going to feel the ache he's been enduring for the past three years.

For a brief moment she was stone as if she had to process the information presented in front of her. He let go of her hands that he trapped above her and moved them towards a more comfortable position; one cradling the side of her face and the older gently draping over her hip. This action awoke the rose tinted beauty as she returned the affection. Her arms slithered around his neck and pulled him into her as the kiss deepened.

Sonic had definitely kissed a girl before (Sally Acorn was his first kiss) but he was only around twelve years old at the time. There was no tension in those exchanged pecks. There was no need for a translation during those interactions; short and sweet. This interaction was different. Amy appeared to be more experienced in this area as her mouth moved to part his lips open. He could feel himself heating up as he felt her warm tongue shyly asking for permission to meet his. She was the teacher, and he was the student.

Then just as he was about to build up the confidence to deepen the kiss; she pulled away. He opened his eyes to see her sleepy gaze staring at his lips. As his bottom lip was mildly red for her suckles and nibbles in between.

Her eyes finally rose up to meet his gaze and he was taken aback to see the desire swimming in her eyes; it was a sultry look he had never seen her wear before.

She likes this…

Without a second thought, he scooped Amy up by the thighs and placed her on the counter top. In that same motion she pulled him into another kiss but this time more desperate.

Their hands now traveled from the original resting spots to explore forbidden places. She caressed his chest and buried a hand in his quills. He had moved his hands up her thigh to grab onto her rear and pull her closer to him. He would slip a hand under her shirt just above the waistband of her shorts and massage the curve in her hips; while the other remained with a handful. When they would pull away, he would use this time to kiss the exposed shoulder and neckline. Soft moans of pleasure shot out of the rosy girl without her permission.

He couldn't believe the intensity of heat radiating off him as these new sounds fill his ears. He wanted more. More sounds of her heavy breathing filling the room and biting her bottom lip to compose herself; all to lose the battle and say.

"Sonic…"

He wanted her to say his name over and over in that way forever. He never wanted to hear her say his name without that pitch and pleading behind it. He wanted this, and he wanted her.

Foreplay was the farthest they had gotten that first night. They continued their new language they created on that kitchen countertop. The night ended with Amy's top exposing her braless chest, and her legs wrapped around him as he caressed and fondled them. She said his name too many times to count, and he kept begging her to let her cries be known to the outside world. This was the first time he had ever touched someone in such a way. He was very inexperienced in this department, but after this brief interaction on the kitchen counter; more was soon to follow.

He continued to rush over to Amy's house before each sunset. The interaction on her birthday had left them bashful and timid for the first couple days. Each time he would look at her, flashbacks of her exposed breasts, eyes half open with hickies all over her body that he had made came into his mind. Eye contact was very difficult those first couple days.

Slowly, they found their rhythm again and found a new beat to dance too. Nothing was said between them, it just appeared to be the natural progression of things. Making out in her bedroom was the new normal instead of cuddling as friends before bedtime. Over the next couple months he would continue to push and blur the line between their relationship.

Make out sessions developed into experimental foreplay, and body exploration. He was now in tune with Amy's naked body, and knew all the spots to make her cry in delight. He had become comfortable with her anatomy… He could spend hours sketching out each detail of her body without reference.

And so, came the time when the final step was reached. He was finally going to experience the epitome of pleasure and intimacy.

"Are you ready, Ames?" He asked as he hovered over her. Holding a piece of himself steady at her gates. Her pheromones dripped off of the walls; it was so thick. He was so excited and he felt the urge to just insert himself in; but he knew better than to rush her.

Amy adjusted herself some more, and attempted to open her legs wider. "Can you hold my hand as you… do it?"

"Of course." He took her hand and kissed the back of it sweetly as he placed their interlocked fingers beside them.

This was it, the holy grail of moments that he wanted to treasure for the rest of his life. He used his other hand to guide himself into the right direction. Immediately being met by warm wet fluids surrounding her area. He was already in a world beyond this reality when he felt that shading him, and it was very difficult for him to remain focused on slow and delicate movements.

He felt her squeeze his hand as he met resistance halfway in. He looked up at her to make sure she was okay with continuing. Amy raised a hand up to his face coaxing him to come down and kiss her. In doing so, the gap between them was broken; he had taken Amy Rose's virginity.

They were no longer considering themselves friends after that. Within a couple of weeks they had admitted to their friend group that they were together. Everyone cheered and applauded Sonic for finally admitting his feelings. He had been out of the loop as he didn't realize how obvious he made his feelings.

He was not good at expressing himself. He is a man of actions; words can be empty if not back up. Amy knew this, so she did not pressure him to say anything until he was ready to tell her.

Weeks, months, and eventually a couple of years went by. He and Amy were living in harmony in her apartment near Starlight city. He thought this was going to be his forever; him and Amy against the world.

This is your forever…

Then the cracks started to show. Shortly after their three year anniversary, she asked him what he saw his life being like within the next five years. He immediately stated that he was with her, and they were still doing what they do now; dating.

Amy clearly wanted something more permanent. She never pushed him to make him feel obligated to fulfill these requests but how could he be a good partner if he didn't?

So they bought a house together. Moved in with combined furniture, decorations and personal items. This home was a healthy blend of everything they accomplished together and in their own rights. He thought he was okay with the idea of settling down and starting this lifelong journey with Amy.

And then he turned twenty-one.

Eggman disappeared that year shortly after his twenty-first birthday. It seemed that the doctor had grown tired of his failures and it was getting the best of him. Sonic was not easily fooled by the sudden retreat of the doctor he had known for his entire upbringing; the man who caused nothing but destruction in so many parts of the world.

To suddenly disappear and give up? Seemed out of character for the doctor to do such a thing; and yet that first year of peace brought nothing but turmoil.

Sonic's final victory and Eggman's disappearance spread like wildfire. He became the most famous hedgehog in all of Mobius and met with the opportunity to monetize his hard work. Initially, he thought it would be a great way of saving up money for the future. The conversation of children had popped up a few times and he thought he would save up rings for whenever he was ready.

Being twenty-one and at the peak of his popularity; none of that money went to savings.

He did not realize the vast world within the tall buildings, and bustling people of Starlight City. The same streets he walked in the daytime changed once the sun set. A business man in the daylight. Attending meetings for sponsorships, and modeling shoots then in the evening rooftop dinners with big shot investors who would win him over with lavish gifts and beautiful women. He allowed himself to be seduced by the fast lifestyle of these new characters in his world; forgetting the role and ideals he stood by for over a decade.

He never cheated on Amy. He remained a one woman man and he refused to ever indulge in his desires; but there it was wasn't it? That itching feeling clawing at him in the back of his mind that being with Amy felt like being caged. He struggled with this desire in secret for months. His life was perfect; there was routine, structure and…

It bore him to death.

So what would a naive twenty-one year old do while faced with two paths? Pick the one with least resistance of course.

He broke up with Amy.

He broke off the expectations and standards that were expected of him from her. He broke off the only structure and security he had. He broke the only woman who truly knew him better than he knew himself; all without discussing why he was doing it.

His twisted reasoning blinded him as he felt righteous in his path. He believed at the time it was best for his own growth to experience things on his own. And shamefully, he fully believed she would wait for him. There was no way Amy Rose would get over him; right?

The day she moved out of their home was when everything began to really sink in. She was storing her items in boxes with red puffy eyes and a look of exhaustion; but she did not allow a tear to drop in front of him. She stood in solitude and silence as she packed her things and Sonic watched, still believing this was all for the greater good. He asked for time to grow as an individual and freedom; she interpreted that as her being suffocating.

Rouge was there helping gather her things. The bat greeted the blue hedgehog but did not say much past that. When the final box was taken out and Amy was standing in the doorway, sunlight illuminating her as if she was awoken by the gods of Chaos.

She looked upon Sonic with jade eyes appearing neon green and hair flowing past her as the wild caressed her features; she spoke her last sentence to him. "I know my worth, Sonic." Then she shut the door.

Sonic groaned as he rested his chin within the palm of his hand as his knee supported his arm. The memories of Amy flooding into him ached his soul. He regretted those final moments when he chose to end things. Nothing worthwhile came from his single life. He spent the next three years in and out of 'situationships' that would never last or become something serious. Then again, he would compare every woman he met to Amy. He would find that a majority of the women in this environment he submerged himself with were hollow; cared for nothing or cared about things that meant nothing.

He thought about those three years with Amy every day since the day she left. He thought time would make things easier on him; and surely it has a little. He thinks about her only during certain parts of the day rather than all day like he did in the beginning. He attempted to make up with her a year after their break up and was hoping to reconcile their relationship; but it did not go as planned.

It has been tradition for everyone to gather and enjoy the holidays together, without question they knew it was expected to show up to Tails' workshop on those days. Sonic had sped around the house making sure all the decorations were hung and the food was set out for the incoming guest. He had moved back in with his best friend and sold the house he bought with Amy; for obvious reasons it held too many memories.

Cream was downstairs beside Tails assisting him in decorating the cookies she made. The fox was anxiously trembling as he attempted to hold the frosting bag steady while the rabbit's hands rested on top of his, "It's okay if they aren't perfect Miles." She cooed.

Tails had let out a small laugh, "I know, you just worked so hard to m-make these. I don't want to ruin t-them."

Sonic was only within earshot of the teenage couple, and although they have yet to announce their official status he could already tell where things were headed. Cream was a calming presence in a lot of tense situations. She had grown up (and is still growing) to be very insightful; following the footsteps of her role model.

"Hellooo," the voice sang, "I bring food and gifts! If I could have a hand to get the…" Sonic ran over to the voice causing her to stop in her tracks slightly. Her scent of brown sugar and cinnamon hit him hard as he was only steps away from her. Her eyes met his and time had suddenly slowed. They were back in the home they shared and Amy was walking in with groceries instead of Christmas gifts. She was sheepishly requesting that he come and carry everything because 'she is a lady'. He would of course oblige by her request… They were there in that instant back to the way things used to be.

Standing there awestruck by her presence, Amy nudged him with the gifts she was holding, "Hey… could you take these to the tree please?"

He opened his arms and felt the weight of the gifts ground him back into the moment. "Yeah, Yeah… Of course." He mumbled as he watched her turn back to grab more items from her car. He sped over to the tree, and stopped to make sure Tails and Cream had not heard Amy come in. The two teenagers were still decorating the cookies obvious to the outside world; perfect.

He rushed outside to meet Amy at her car, the chilly evening breeze carrying her scent through the air was driving his senses crazy. "What else do ya got?" He asked cooly beside her.

"I have plates of food in the back seat if you'd grab those, and I can carry this." She said monotone.

"Oh? So I don't have to carry everything?" He poked at her.

She shook her head, and smiled weakly at him. "Not this time Sonic." Then taking the gift bags in her arms, she walked back over towards the entrance of the workshop.

In an instant he was beside her again, and the gifts she had picked up were now in his arms plus the food she requested he bring in. "Ames, I'm just teasing. I wouldn't make you carry all this; that's my job."

Her gaze shifted towards him, and remained there for a couple of moments. Expressionless and cautious were her features but her eyes swam in between sorrow and longing. She looked like she had something to say, but decided it would be best to keep it to herself. She smiled weakly again; a quick little acknowledgement of his helpfulness. "Thank you." And then she tore her gaze and continued forward.

"Ames." His voice shouted dryly. Suddenly he felt like he had been without water for eons. "Can we… Can we talk? Ya know, before everyone else shows up?"

She nodded slowly, and with that confirmation he sped back into the workshop setting everything down in place before running back to her side. Scooping her up into his arms, "Hold onto me." He whispered out of habit and then sonic boomed away from the workshop.

Tails looked through the kitchen window as the sound of the supersonic boom cascaded through the hillside; and a streak of pink and blue left behind in its wake. Praying that things would set themselves back into place.

Sonic laughed as he felt Amy's grip against his chest and around his neck; I suppose going full speed was not the smartest decision. Making it to his favorite overlook near a hillside in view of the ocean he set the pink hedge down. She immediately turned around to punch him in the chest, "Do you know how long it took me to get ready today!" She screamed playfully; but the punch really took him out for a minute.

Rubbing the area she had just hit he smiled boyishly, "My bad, it's been a while since I've ran with anyone. I guess… I don't know my own speed sometimes." He finished as he continued to rub his chest.

He watched her attempt to finger comb her quills back into place. Smaller unkempt strands were poking out of place and her bangs were all over the place. He walked up to her and brushed her bangs to the side and finger combed her quills, "I think ya look great either way Ames."

She stepped back from his touch and pulled at her clothing keeping her eyes down in attempts to hide her tinted cheeks, "Anyway, what did you want to talk about?"

"I uh… I wanted to… I want to fix things between us Ames." He said quickly before he lost his courage.

Looking up at him and her blush now faded; she met his answer with silence. He stood there awkwardly waiting for the girl powerful enough to destroy him to grant him with words; words he knew he was unworthy of. Confirming his suspicions she said, "There is nothing to fix."

He wanted to reach out to hold onto her hand, and get onto his knees; and beg. "Do you really feel that way?"

She let out a small sigh, "I know my worth. I told you that the day I left, and nothing has changed."

His hand instinctively reached out to touch her cheek but instead hovered over it as he noticed the hardening of her features; if looks could kill. Then it dropped back to his side. "Amy, I know your worth. I've known you since I was a kid. I've experienced all the metamorphosis that you've gone through to become the person you are now; I know more than anyone what you are worth." His voice became weak and his eyes softened, "You are everything to me."

"Then how was it so easy to leave me?" She scolded. "You threw away years of our relationship. Not just the three years of us being together but the almost two decades of knowing each other. For what?" She was yelling now; something she had not done since she was a teenager. "What was so fucking important that you threw me away Sonic?!"

Tears were threatening to fall from his eyes as he watched her come undone. He sucked in a breath and looked up at the sky to prevent the tears from falling; it was not his time to be upset. "I don't know… I wasn't thinking straight when I did it."

"So, I was so meaningless that you don't even know why you left in the first place?" She snorted a harsh laugh. "That makes me feel so much better. Knowing the man I loved with every fiber of my fucking existence doesn't even know why he wanted to leave."

"That's not wha"

"Just leave me alone Sonic." She rushed. "The damage is do"

He pounded his fist to his head in frustration, "I wanted a different life okay?!" He yelled out into the world making his feelings of self doubt form into a solid presence. "I needed to experience a world outside of ours. I have been focused on fighting Eggman and protecting everyone around me since I was eight years old. I created the freedom fighters thinking it was a band of misfits to fight against evil like superheroes." His tears were now slowly treading down his cheeks as he continued his outburst, "Ames we were fucking child soldiers. We thought we were playing hero's, but nothing about it was pretend or playing. We involved ourselves in a war; and the world expected me to be the savior. You expected me to be your savior. Do you know what that feels like? To have all these lives in the palm of your hand?! I trained all those years to be a protector, I didn't allow myself to fall in love with you out of fear of getting you hurt. I spent years denying myself the ability to get too close to anyone. I kept everyone at a distance and tried to fight my own battles to keep everyone safe. I deprived myself of experiences and stayed focused. And guess what? I got us here safely."

He looked down to his feet, "So for once… I wanted to experience a normal life; a life I was deprived of. I had given myself up for people over, and over, and over. For once I wanted to be… normal."

He felt her hand rest against his check and gently brush away the tears, "Yes, you are right. The world expected a lot from you as a child, and as you got older the hurdles became bigger. But, you are wrong in losing faith in the people who followed you. We never expected you to do this all alone; and you should have known better than that. We are and were a Team, Sonic. Not just Team Sonic by trade name, or at least you should have believed that." Her hand dropped from his cheek and he rushed to hold it again. He needed her to guide him through these emotions, and through his internal turmoil; and she read right through him. "I can't help you heal Sonic. I had no idea this was what you were holding onto for all these years; and if I was not seen as your equal then, I certainly wouldn't be now."

She took his hand and kissed the back of his palm, "I know my worth. Maybe… once you find yours we can try this again."

He didn't ask her again after that. Maybe it was his pride or maybe he knew deep down that she was right. He had known for so many years who he was and what his purpose was, but now without Eggman he was having an early twenties crisis.

Their interactions were complicated within these past three years since their break up. At times they would keep their distance and keep things cordial. During other moments they would be flirtatious and playful similar to their teenage romance when they were on Seaside Island. And the times alcohol was involved during special occasions the lines of what was appropriate would be blurred. The two ex lovers would find themselves wrapped in each other's arms in a secluded area. Each time whispers of how much they missed each other would fill the air, but she would never say that 'L' word to him. Amy wouldn't allow them to get beyond surface level as she would suddenly sober up halfway through and ask to go back to the party.

He was growing tired of only having brief moments of her. He couldn't understand why she would refuse his advances and keep leading him on to believing that one day they will reconcile.

And now his best friend is getting married. His kid brother who is barely a legal adult is getting married to Amy's little sister. Mocking him (unintentionally of course) that he figured out his life before him.

Sonic groaned in frustration as he collapsed against the grass and looked up to the stars; but staring back at him were amused ocean blue eyes. "Hey there Blue." She teased.

"Rouge, what's up?"

She held up her invitation, "I came to talk to Tails about needing a wedding organizer."

He supported his weight onto his elbows and continued to look up at her, "Did it shock you like it shocked me?"

She shook her head, "Not really. Tails and Cream have always been very observant and secluded within one another. They seem to notice the mistakes and failures we make in our lives; so I imagine they discussed what they wanted early on."

He cocked an eyebrow, "Mistakes and failures huh?"

Rouge and him had become closer through the past couple years; she also happened to be his life line when it came to affairs regarding Amy. Rouge knew how the blue hedgehog felt, and would tell him to keep trying and allow time to heal the wounds. She never picked a side, or at least that's what she led on.

She held up the invitation again, and pointed to the names with her long red manicure nails. "These names should be different."

He sighed, "I agree."

"So what's the plan?"

"What do you mean?"

She rolled her eyes and went to take a seat beside him. "What's your plan on getting Amy back?"

"She doe" He began.

"I noticed things over the last three years. I see the way you both still steal glances at each other. I've counted all the times you both mysteriously sneak away from the group during parties…" His cheeks had a faint redness to them. "I notice everything Sonic. I have grown tired of watching you both wait for the other to speak up."

"I already tried to get her back at the Christmas party two years ago." He corrected her softly.

Rouge snorted a laugh, "Telling a woman who's entire life has been dedicated to one man that he has always wanted a different life; a life where they never met. That is not how you get someone back."

"I never said that!"

"You didn't?" She challenged, "If you never became Sonic the Hedgehog who would you be right now? Would you have rescued Amy? Would you have met Tails or Knuckles? When would you have met any of us? If you did not have to be the fastest hedgehog, who would you have been?"

"Oh…"

"Don't tell me you are barely realizing this." She frowned at him. "Ya know, even if you weren't Sonic The Hedgehog the hero of Mobius, you'd probably still be this clueless."

The wind was picking up slowly causing her chin length white hair to flow in the breeze. Her expensive perfume wrapped him in a soft embrace. It dawned on him that Rouge had waited two years for him to figure this out before calling him out. She always stated she wanted to be neutral to all parties and did not want to get involved. Yet here she was scolding him for his immaturity; and picking his side.

"Try again Sonic. Figure out what you want to say before you allow emotions to get the better of you, and win back the girl you love."
