~~Hello, readers, I'm back with a new chapter.
Pokémon and Assassination Classroom don't belong to me.
I only own my original characters.~~
It was now early evening in the Unova Region.
I had just received a basic badge after winning my battle against the gym leader.
My friend Nagisa Shiota and I hurried into the Pokémon center where Nurse Joy restored both of my tired Pokémon.
We then returned home where my mom had been waiting for us.
I strolled into the kitchen with Nagisa following behind me.
The scent of meat and veggies filled the air.
Kara had cooked a hot meal on the stove and set it out on the counter.
"Wow, that food looks delicious," commented Nagisa as he pointed to the metal trays.
"My mom's cooking is the best," I responded.
"Good evening, Mother," I greeted with a smile.
"You're late," Kara replied sternly.
"I know, and I apologize for that. I went out to Route 19 for a break and caught another Pokémon. Also, an incident happened on my way to the gym. Mis Julie's daughter Mira and her friend Kiera confronted and demanded me to have a double training battle with them. I denied their request because my gym battle was coming up. Mira and Kiera got mad and purposely frightened me with a medical video. I had a major panic attack. Luckily, Nagisa saved me in the nick of time. I won my battle against Cheren shortly afterward," I explained.
"That incident wouldn't have happened if you didn't run away from home like a selfish child. You need to start accepting people's criticism," Kara scolded.
"Save your breath, Mother," I mumbled.
Kara glared at me and yelled, "Don't you dare talk back to me, little lady! I'll send your friend home immediately!"
I sighed heavily and bowed my head.
A brief period of silence passed by.
"What Pokémon did you catch?" Kara inquired.
"It's an electric type sheep Pokémon called Mareep. My Mareep learned the move spark during its battle against Cheren's Herdier," I answered proudly.
"That battle was intense," Nagisa chimed in.
"I'm proud of you for winning your gym battle, Sioku," Kara said in a calmer tone.
"Let's go, Nagisa," I urged while walking toward the dining room.
Nagisa quietly followed me into the dining area.
I helped him get situated in a chair at the table.
"Nagisa, would you like a glass of water?" I asked.
"Yes please," the boy answered.
I made my way back into the kitchen where Mom was putting hot food on three glass plates.
"Sioku, I'm glad to hear that you've caught a new Pokémon and won your first gym battle. However, I'm not happy about you storming out of the house during our conversation. You acted very immature back there," Kara said with a frown.
"What else was I supposed to do? You wouldn't believe me when I was defending myself," I argued.
"Quit talking back to me, young lady! I'm tired of listening to you spew out such negativity about Julie!" Kara shouted.
The fact that my mom continued to take Julie's side annoyed me to no end.
Instead of dragging the argument on any further, I focused on making Nagisa feel comfortable.
I grabbed two cups from one of the upper cabinets, then filled them with water from the fridge.
Then I carried them to the dining room table where Nagisa had been waiting patiently for my return.
"Welcome back, Sioku," said Nagisa.
"I'm so sorry, Nagisa, you didn't need to hear another argument. Mom and I haven't been understanding each other since she met and became best friends with Mis Julie," I replied remorsefully.
I gently set a cup down on the table in front of Nagisa.
"Thank you, Sioku, the yelling doesn't bother me at all. I understand that you and your mom are going through some personal issues," Nagisa added softly.
After taking a seat next to Nagisa, I opened up all four of my Pokéballs and let the Pokémon out.
The hyperactive creatures chased each other in circles around the table.
I giggled while listening to Lilipup growl playfully at Oshawott.
Nagisa watched the scene with an amused grin.
"Your furry friends are entertaining to watch," he commented.
"Yes, but they can get into trouble as well. Taking care of Pokémon is a big responsibility for trainers," I informed.
"Does your mom have any Pokémon of her own?" Nagisa asked curiously.
"Yes, she has six of them. My mom is a coordinator which means that she competes in Pokémon contests. Her Pokémon are probably playing outside with our dog. They always hang out with Trooper," I explained.
Nagisa perked up as soon as I mentioned Trooper.
"Hey, Sioku, may I please meet your dog before I leave? I love dogs," he said happily.
"Of course, Trooper and my mom's Pokémon should be coming in soon. I'm sure Trooper would love to meet you," I answered happily.
"Sioku, please come get these plates for you and your friend. Don't forget to dish out some food for your Pokémon as well," Kara called from the kitchen.
"Yes, ma'am," I responded as I stood up.
I walked into the kitchen, then carefully lifted both plates off the counter.
After dropping our plates off at the table, I filled a medium sized bowl with a different type of food and set it down beside the automatic watering bowl.
All four of my Pokémon came rushing toward the bowl at once.
I then grabbed some silverware and napkins out of a drawer before sitting back down at the table beside Nagisa.
"Nagisa and I then started to eat our food.
Before Mom could join us, she let Trooper and all of her Pokémon inside the house.
I giggled at the sound of Trooper's nails tapping on the tile floor.
Trooper panted happily while wagging his long tail.
"Settle down, Trooper," said Kara.
Nagisa and I burst into laughter when we heard Trooper shake off.
"Your dog sounds very hyper," Nagisa commented.
"Trooper is hyperactive most of the time. He reminds me of myself. The Pokémon and I usually keep his energy going," I replied.
Kara fed Trooper and her Pokémon before she made her own plate in the kitchen.
She then sat down at the table across from me.
The three of us ate our meal in silence.
After dinner, Nagisa and I carried our empty dishes over to the sink.
"Thanks for inviting me to have dinner with you, Sioku. The food was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed watching your gym battle as well," said Nagisa.
"You're welcome, Nagisa, it's the least I could do after you saved me. You really are a true friend," I replied sincerely.
I rinsed the dishes off before placing them into the dish washer.
Kara washed and loaded her dishes after I moved away from the sink.
"Hey, Nagisa, would you like to meet Trooper and my mom's Pokémon?" I asked cheerfully.
"I sure would," Nagisa answered with the same amount of happiness.
I gleefully led Nagisa into the living room where Trooper and all of Mom's Pokémon were playing.
Nagisa's eyes lit up with joy as he watched Trooper up close.
"Come here, Trooper," I called joyfully.
Trooper ran toward me while wagging his tail wildly.
He then stood up on his hind legs and rested his front paws on my shoulders.
I affectionately rubbed the dog under his floppy ears.
"You can pet him, Nagisa," I said.
Nagisa stroked Trooper's back gently.
"Your dog has a nice coat," the boy complemented.
"Thanks, Mom has been taking him to the groomer once a month," I responded.
I gently lowered Trooper to the ground.
Trooper shook off and began to sniff Nagisa.
Nagisa stood still in order to let Trooper remember his scent.
"My dog is interested in you, Nagisa. I have a feeling that you two will become friends," I said happily.
"I have no doubt about that. I'm really good with animals," Nagisa replied.
Without warning, Trooper jumped on Nagisa.
Nagisa playfully ruffled Trooper's fur in return.
"I knew it, Trooper definitely likes you. He senses that you have a good personality," I said with a smile.
"I like him as well," Nagisa replied as he hugged the dog.
Trooper licked Nagisa's cheek before lowering himself back down to the floor.
Nagisa looked around the room while brushing himself off.
He spotted six medium sized creatures laying down in different areas of the living room.
"Sioku, are those your mother's Pokémon?" Nagisa asked curiously.
"Yes, I'll introduce you to them," I answered.
I led Nagisa around the living room and introduced him to Umbreon, Glaceon, Leafeon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, and Sylveon.
"These Pokémon are all evolutionary forms of Eevee. Eevee has eight evolved forms altogether. An Eevee can evolve into one of these forms depending on the environment it's in," I explained.
"Wow, that's really cool," said Nagisa as he petted Sylveon.
I agree, do you want to see something funny?" I replied while sitting down beside Jolteon.
Nagisa nodded his head and smiled.
I put my arms under Jolteon's belly and started to lift it.
Jolteon let out a low warning growl.
"Come over here, Jolteon," I urged while pulling the electric type Pokémon closer to me.
Jolteon released a thunderbolt from the end of its tail that struck me in my side.
I trembled for a few seconds as I got zapped.
Nagisa watched the scene with a stunned expression.
"Are you okay, Sioku?" he asked.
"Don't worry about me, Nagisa. This happens all the time," I assured.
Kara heard the commotion and entered the living room.
"What's going on in here?" she wondered.
"I'm just playing with the Pokémon," I answered casually.
She looked down at Jolteon who was glaring at me.
"Sioku, were you messing with my Jolteon again?" Kara asked.
Nagisa giggled at the firm tone in her voice.
"Maybe," I answered before laughing.
Kara shifted her attention away from Jolteon and glared at me.
"Quit showing off your obnoxious habits in front of Nagisa. He doesn't need to see you act like that. Go let your Pokémon outside," she scolded.
I let out a sigh of defeat in response.
"Let's go, Nagisa," I urged.
I led Nagisa through the kitchen toward the back door where my Pokémon had already been waiting to go outside.
"Go out, everybody," I commanded while sliding the glass door open.
All four of my Pokémon immediately took off outside.
"Pardon me, Sioku, but I have to go home now. The next train will be here soon," Nagisa said.
I pulled my friend into a tight embrace.
"Okay, but please let me lead you back to the station. I only want you to be safe," I replied.
"Sure, I would appreciate that very much," Nagisa added as he returned the hug.
After releasing Nagisa, I led him back into the living room.
Kara was sitting on the couch and watching Tv.
"Mother, would you mind if I took Nagisa back to the train station?" I asked.
"No, Sioku, I wouldn't mind at all. please take one of my Pokémon with you," Kara answered.
"Come here, Umbreon," I called to the dark type Pokémon.
Umbreon stretched her body and shook off.
She then walked toward me and yawned.
I giggled while ruffling the Pokémon's fur.
"Let's go outside, Umbreon," I said.
Umbreon wagged her tail happily in return.
"Thanks again for inviting me into your home, Kara. I had fun here," Nagisa said gratefully.
"You're most welcome, Nagisa, I'm glad you had a good time here with my daughter. I hope you make it home safely," Kara replied.
Umbreon and I led Nagisa out the front door and down the street.
Nagisa and I waited at the station until a train arrived on the platform.
I gave the boy a quick hug.
"Good Bye, Nagisa, I had a lot of fun hanging out with you today. I'll see you at school tomorrow morning," I said.
Nagisa affectionately returned the embrace.
"Same here, Sioku, congratulations on winning your first badge. I hope you sleep well tonight," he replied.
Nagisa and I released each other, and he stepped toward the train.
I watched Nagisa as he boarded the train.
Umbreon and I walked back home after the train had left.
Kara met me in the doorway as I was walking inside.
"Sioku, please finish loading the remaining dirty dishes into the dish washer. I already put the leftover food away and wiped down the counters," she said.
"Yes, ma'am," I replied before walking away.
I hurried into the kitchen while Umbreon followed Kara back to the living room.
Then I quickly loaded the last of our dirty dishes into the dish washer.
My Pokémon started to scratch at the back door.
As soon as my chores were finished, I decided to let them inside.
"Come in," I urged while sliding the door open.
All four of my Pokémon ran inside at the same time while chasing each other.
I couldn't help but giggle at their playful energy.
"Sioku!" Kara called from the living room.
"I'm coming, Mother," I responded as I walked quickly in her direction.
I entered the living room with my Pokémon traveling beside me.
"Sioku, you and I need to have a talk. Sit down," she ordered firmly.
I reluctantly sat down on the opposite couch.
Trooper climbed onto the couch and sat beside me.
I wrapped my arms around the dog and held him tight.
"What do you want to talk about?" I asked with a blank expression.
"Don't play dumb with me, Sioku, you know exactly what I want to talk to you about. You've been acting like an obnoxious fool all day," Kara snapped back.
"That's not true, Mother, you know perfectly well that I am a hyper person. Instead of helping me manage my hyperactivity, you and Mis Julie do nothing but tear me down. Both of you have no respect for me or my disability at all," I countered.
Kara wasn't going to accept my defense though.
In a fit of rage, she rose from her seat on the couch and stomped over to me.
Trooper turned his head and stared intently at Kara.
"I'll be okay, buddy," I assured softly.
Before I could see it coming, Kara slapped me across my right cheek hard enough to leave a red handprint.
I winced internally at the stinging pain in my cheek.
A pit of sadness immediately started to form inside me.
My eyes welled up with tears, but I forced them down in order to hide those feelings from Kara.
Trooper lunged forward and barked loudely in Kara's face.
"Get down, Trooper, now! Go," Kara commanded.
Trooper slid off of the couch and shook his head.
He then laid down on the floor and sighed.
"Sioku Marie, I've had enough of your rebellious attitude! If you keep it up, I will not let your friend come over again! Do I make myself clear?" Kara yelled furiously.
"Yes, ma'am," I answered sadly.
Without saying another word to me, Kara moved back to her spot on the other couch.
All four of my Pokémon started to run around in circles as they grew impatient.
I stood up and put on a smile for them.
"Let's go upstairs," I said playfully.
I then took off through the living room with my Pokémon running behind me.
Lilipup growled loudly as it was being nudged by Oshawott.
"Sioku, you need to be more careful. You could've woke up my Pokémon," Kara scolded.
I slowed down by the staircase and looked at her.
"Oops, I apologize for us being loud. I was trying to get my team's energy out. Have a good night, Mother," I responded before proceeding up the stairs.
"Good night, Sioku," she said.
My Pokémon excitedly bolted after me.
"Settle down, everyone," I said before laughing.
Lilipup shook off in response.
I led them into my bedroom before closing the door behind us.
The Pokémon happily settled themselves into my bed.
A memory of Korosensei flashed through my mind as I stared at my reflection in the mirror.
I let out a dreamy sigh while imagining him.
"Oh Korosensei, I wish you were there to watch my gym battle. I won it for you and Nagisa," I said.
I changed into my pajamas, then climbed into bed beside the Pokémon.
"Good night, friends," I said with a smile.
Complete silence filled my room as the Pokémon and I lay still in bed.
I drifted into the darkness after a few minutes had passed.
Unfortunately, my dream wasn't so peaceful.
~Dream~
I found myself back in elementary school.
My academic assistant Julie and I were alone in the computer lab.
All of my classmates had gone out to the playground for recess.
This was our third and last recess before school let out for the day.
Julie was punishing me for freaking out over Type to Learn by making me work more on it during that time.
She sat in a chair directly behind mine while glaring daggers at me.
Her death stare made me feel very uncomfortable, but I just shrugged it off.
I didn't want to give her a reason to yell at me or extend my punishment.
Unfortunately, I didn't have Nagisa or Korosensei by my side.
Deep down, I knew that Type to Learn was going to scare me senseless.
However, I decided to force my fears down in order to prevent myself from attracting Julie's unwanted attention.
I tried to pretend that Type to Learn didn't bother me by putting up a brave face.
It seemed to work for a while.
The female robotic computer voice didn't faze me as much as it usually did.
I worked quietly on each lesson and completed them with perfect accuracy.
This went on for twenty minutes straight.
Thankfully, I was finally able to get off the computer when recess was over.
I stood up and stretched my legs.
"Go back to the classroom Sioku, I'll meet you there. Do not fool around, or I'll punish you again. Do I make myself clear?" Julie demanded in a threatening way.
"Yes ma'am," I answered quietly.
"Get out of my sight," she said roughly.
I then hurried out of the computer lab and headed back to my teacher's classroom.
My classmates were laughing and having conversations as they stood on the metal ramp.
Julie's daughter Mira smirked at me as I approached the ramp.
She then turned to the other kids and said. "Look everybody, Sad Sioku has returned."
None of them responded to her which earned them all a glare of annoyance.
"You're so pathetic Mira," I commented.
Mira ignored my comment and proceeded to taunt me. "Hi Sad Sioku, did you enjoy my mom's punishment?"
"Shut up and leave me alone," I snapped back.
"Whatever Sad Sioku," Mira said with a huff.
I turned around and looked down at a small pach of tall grass.
My classmates and I entered the room as soon as the teacher arrived.
I took my usual seat in the back.
"Okay everyone! May I please have your attention?" the teacher called out.
All of the chattering soon faded into silence.
"I am giving all of you two choices. You may either work on your homework or read a book for the last thirty minutes of class," she said.
"Yes ma'am," we replied in unison.
I immediately pulled out my English homework and began working.
All was going well until I felt a burning sensation in my chest.
I bravely pushed through the pain in order to keep Julie and Mira off my back.
The pain in my chest got worse with every minute that passed, but I forced myself to stay focused.
Before I knew it, school was finally over.
People immediately started leaving as soon as the dismissal bell rang.
Fortunately for me, Julie left with the other adults.
I followed behind a large crowd of other students as we walked toward the train station.
As soon as I boarded the train, I plopped down in a seat behind the driver.
I continued fighting through the intense pain and held my chest tightly.
Breathing was becoming more difficult for me as well.
The train ride seemed to go on forever.
I felt like I was going to pass out.
As soon as the train pulled up to my station, I stood up and immediately stepped off.
I walked slowly across the street in order to prevent dizziness.
My energy continued to decrease as I pushed myself forward.
As soon as I arrived at my front porch, I opened the front door and dragged myself inside my house.
Trooper heard the door open and ran toward me while wagging his tail.
Luckily, Trooper wasn't hyper enough to jump on me.
"Hi Trooper," I said with a small smile.
The dog licked my face in return.
My heart pounded rapidly in my chest.
With all the strength I had left, I hurried into the living room and then laid down on one of the couches.
Trooper followed me and hopped onto the same couch.
He laid down beside me and sighed.
I wrapped my arms around the dog and closed my eyes.
"Good afternoon Sioku," greeted Kara as she strolled into the living room.
Trooper lifted his head and stared up at Kara.
"Hello Mother," I replied breathlessly.
"Did you have a good day at school?" Kara continued.
"Not really," I answered briefly.
"Sioku, what happened at school today?" Kara asked as she looked at me.
"Julie punished me for freaking out over Type to Learn by making me work on it during all of my recesses. She doesn't care about my panic attacks. I had two major ones today," I explained.
Kara glared down at me with a look of disapproval and responded. "Sioku, don't be ridiculous. I seriously doubt that Julie was the cause of your panic attacks and your chest pain. You probably exerted way too much energy during PE today. Quit blaming Julie for every bad thing that happens to you. Do you understand me?"
I had a feeling that Kara wouldn't believe me, but I was too weak and drained to defend myself.
"Yes Mother," I whispered.
"Are you okay Sioku?" asked Kara as she stared down at my pale face.
"No, I don't feel so good. My body is very weak," I answered sadly.
"Sioku, when did you start feeling this way?" Kara asked as she looked at me.
"Right after I got off the bus," I answered breathlessly.
"I'll take you to the doctor right away," Kara said warmly.
I let go of Trooper and stood up slowly while holding onto the couch.
My whole body throbbed in agony, but I was determined to try walking again.
"Wait Sioku, I don't want you to fall. I'll carry you to my car," Kara said as she picked me up.
She then rushed down the stairs and out of the building.
After helping me get situated in the passenger seat, Kara jumped into the driver's seat and drove away.
I looked out my window as a distraction from the pain.
Luckily, the nearest hospital was only 15 minutes away from our apartment.
Kara parked her car in the hospital's parking lot and then lifted me out of the passenger side.
She then carried me into the large building.
Even though I was weak and in extreme pain, I knew exactly where my mom and I were.
The sights and smells of this place made me feel very anxious.
At the reception desk, Kara checked me in.
We then waited in the lobby.
"Sioku," called the receptionist.
Kara stood up with me still in her arms and walked toward the back area.
A friendly female nurse led her into an exam room.
Kara gently laid me down on the bed.
"What seems to be going on?" asked the nurse.
"Sioku has had fatigue and chest pain since she got off the school bus today," answered Kara.
"Do you know what caused it?" the nurse continued.
"It's probably stress from her panic attacks," Kara answered again.
The nurse typed the details in a report on her computer.
She then checked my vital signs and hooked me up to a few monitors.
I twitched nervously whenever one of her medical tools came in contact with my body.
"Both Sioku's heart rate and blood pressure are very high," she said while staring at the screen.
"Is there any way you could bring it down?" asked Kara.
"The doctor will come in shortly and give her some IV medication," the nurse answered before she walked out.
My mom and I waited in silence.
I closed my eyes and slipped into a train of deep thought.
Ten minutes later, a male doctor entered the room.
"Hello ladies," he greeted.
"Good afternoon sir," replied Kara.
I opened my eyes and looked around the room.
"Hey Sioku, how are you feeling?" asked the doctor.
"I feel like my chest is on fire," I answered weakly.
"Don't worry Sioku, I'll give you some medication to help you feel better," he assured.
He then filled a bag with medication and attached a tube to the IV machine.
I started to tense up as I watched.
My stomach instantly tied up in knots.
First, the doctor searched for a vein in my arm.
Then he cleaned my arm with a disinfectant wipe.
I shivered in fear of what was coming next.
Lastly, he inserted a needle in my arm and wrapped up the spot with a bandage.
"I am about to go see other patients now. I'll come back and check on her in a few minutes," said the doctor before he took his leave.
My body finally gave in to the exhaustion, and I drifted off to sleep.
All was going well until my monitors began to beep erratically.
"Somebody please help my daughter!" Kara hollered sadly.
Alarms rang throughout the space which alerted the doctors and nurses.
They immediately rushed into my room and surrounded the bed.
I was now unconscious and couldn't respond to the commotion around me.
"What's wrong with Sioku?" Kara asked frantically.
"Her heart is in ventricular tachycardia," answered the nurse.
"What does that mean?" Kara continued.
"Sioku's heart is beating way faster than it should. We need to shock it back into normal rhythm," she explained.
Kara sobbed as she stared down at my unconscious body.
One doctor placed two defibrillation pads on my chest while the other doctor charged up the defibrillator.
"All clear, shock," commanded the first doctor.
The second doctor sent an electric shock through my heart.
My stats on the monitors remained unchanged.
A third doctor inserted another IV line in my body and pumped more medicine into me.
"Shock her again," commanded the first doctor.
The second doctor shocked my chest a second time.
"She's in ventricular fibrillation," said the nurse.
"What does that mean?" asked Kara.
"Now Sioku's heart is beating way slower than it should. We have to shock her again," the nurse explained.
A third dose of medicine was pumped into my body.
The same doctor charged up the defibrillator and shocked my heart a second time.
"Sioku! No!" Kara cried.
"We're doing everything that we can to help your daughter," the third doctor assured.
Much to everyone's relief, my stats on the monitors went back to normal.
"Sioku should be okay now. We'll need to keep her here for observation," said the nurse to Kara.
"That's okay with me as long as she gets better," Kara replied.
My eyes fluttered open as I slowly regained consciousness.
I still had many tubes and wires hooked up to me.
~End Dream~
I let out a nervous yelp as I shook myself awake.
Sweat dripped profusely down my face as I panted heavily.
I tried to control my rapid heart rate by breathing deeply.
"Nagisa, Korosensei, I wish you were here with me. I miss you two so much," I whispered sadly.
Lilipup woke up and snuggled close to my chest.
My three remaining Pokémon stayed asleep in their spots beside me.
I wrapped my arms around Lilipup and closed my eyes.
Lilipup sighed before it fell asleep again.
My heart rate slowed down to a normal rhythm as I started to relax.
I smiled as I remembered my first encounter with Korosensei.
His pleasant voice echoed in my mind.
I let the complete silence in my room help me drift back into the darkness.
