Eventually, Angel and Cherri leaped over all the buildings and landed in front of Cherri's townhouse. Cherri quickly unlocked the door, and the two friends went inside.

"I can't believe this," Cherri said, locking the door behind her as soon as she and Angel were inside.

"I'm so sorry, Cher," Angel said.

"Why are you apologizing?" Cherri asked, locking all the other locks to her door. "I insisted on blowing up that club."

"If I had just listened to him…" Angel said.

"And done what, Angel?" Cherri asked, feeling her anger towards Valentino rising.

"And obeyed him," Angel said with tears in his eyes.

"No, Angie! Look at me!" Cherri said, defiantly holding Angel's head in her hands. "None of this is your fault. Okay?"

Angel looked at Cherri with tearful eyes.

"None of this is your fault!" Cherri cried. "It's the fault of the fucking bastard who shares my blood!"

"It still feels like it is," Angel said, wiping his tears.

"Well, it isn't," Cherri said. "So, stop blaming yourself!"

Angel nodded as he finished wiping his eyes.

Cherri wrapped her arms around Angel, and he hugged her back with his four arms.

"Thanks, Cher," Angel said, giving Cherri a squeeze.

"Of course, Angie," Cherri said, giving him a final squeeze for they let each other go.

"So, what do you wanna do now?" asked Angel. "I don't know what else we can accomplish right now."

"I agree," Cherri said with a sigh. "All we can do is hide out here until the buzz dies down. That means several days of hanging out, eating pizza, and watching TV."

"I can deal with that," Angel said, letting a smile return to his lips. "I guess I'll call Charlie and tell her what's going on. You find something for us to watch on TV."

"You betcha, Angie," Cherri said tiredly. "I'll make sure it's nice and dumb to get our brains off this unbelievably shitty day."

"Please do," Angel said, taking his phone out of his pocket and dialing Charlie's number. "I'll order the pizza when I'm done."

"Okay," Cherri said with a sigh as she let herself fall back onto the couch.

Cherri grabbed the remote and switched on the TV.

Immediately, the news came on. The newscasters were still interviewing her father much to her chagrin. She wanted to switch the news off, but like a trainwreck, she couldn't stop watching.

"So, Overlord Valentino, how did you figure out that Cherri Bomb was your daughter?" asked Katie Killjoy.

"She looked just like her Mama, so I had a feeling for a long while," Valentino explained. "It was only recently that I got the evidence I needed."

"Your ex must have been one beautiful gal," Velvet gushed.

"Damn right, she was. A pretty, young thing and a good fuck," Valentino said, chuckling maliciously along with the other demons in the audience.

"Sounds like the total package," Vox said once the chuckling subsided.

"Oh, you have no idea," Valentino mused.

"I ship it!" Velvet said cheerfully.

"That makes one of ya," Valentino said with a sigh. "Her daddy hated me."

"So rude," Velvet said.

"I know," Valentino said. "Something about seducing his daughter and sweeping her off his feet turned that perfectly agreeable man against me."

"Sounds just like every piss ant Dad on the surface," Vox said with a shrug.

"I suppose," Valentino said. "When Audrey turned against me, he was all too happy to help."

"Oh, how tragic," Velvet said with a dramatic pose.

"You could say that again," said Valentino with a sad sigh.

"But you've found your daughter again," Vox said with a smile.

"Yep, those bastards' attempt to separate us for all eternity didn't work after all," Valentino said with a proud smirk. "And now that I do have her again, I'm never letting her go again."

Cherri felt absolutely disgusted. Unable to listen to anymore, she turned off the TV.

Having seen what went down on the TV, Angel placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I can't believe this is happening, Angie," Cherri lamented. "Of all the bastards on earth for me to run in to, why did it have to be him?"

"I don't know," Angel said, climbing over the couch and taking a seat next to her.

"I just can't believe this is actually happening," said Cherri, staring through the TV. "It feels like I'm stuck in a bad dream. It doesn't feel real. There's no way it can be."

"It's really real, babe," Angel said. "There's no denying it."

"But how?" Cherri asked. "How is this possible? My worthless monster of a father who I forgot about is here in front of me?"

"I don't know how or why, Cher, but it's happened," said Angel with a sad shrug.

"It just doesn't make any sense," Cherri said. "Has he been looking for me all this time?"

"I think he has," Angel answered.

"He was hoping that I would end up down here," said Cherri in realization.

"Exactly," Angel replied.

"Oh, my God," Cherri said, staring at the ground and starting to tear up again.

Angel sat down on the couch next to Cherri and hugged her against his fluffy chest. She clutched onto him, and they laid down on the couch together.

Cherri and Angel lay there together until their pizza arrived. Then they sat there together and watched a mindless TV movie while eating and drinking their sorrow.

The pair sat there in their misery until they eventually fell asleep on the couch.
