Edward's POV
FORKS TIME
Cullen Slays The Enforcer!
On Friday, October 23rd, the Forks High School football team took down Lincoln High School on Senior Night in a spectacular showdown between the two teams, Titans vs. Warriors in a battle of offense and defense, skills and tactics and power and determination for the Titans to win 47 to 44. While the Warriors football team were phenomenal with their most improved defense and their offense pulling surprises to the Titans' defense, the team was nothing if had not been for their future star, freshman Wyatt Phoenix who has been dominating the competition.
The Enforcer proved to be a challenge to The Pack who allowed over 450 yards in last week's game, but despite that, they were able to put as much pressure on the young quarterback as they sacked him twice, both by seniors Paul Lahote and Jared Cameron while the secondary were on their toes to make things difficult for Phoenix's passing game; seniors Sam Uley, who led the game in tackles, Quil Ateara and Embry Call who each got interception off of Phoenix, one where Call returned it for a pick six.
All of them couldn't have pulled it off had not been for their captain who proves to be the best linebacker in the league, senior Seth Clearwater. Beast Boy, the key factor of The Pack's defense, helped out avoid the loss with 15 tackles with 9 assists, a safety to give the Titans their first score of the game, and a game winning interception to help seal the deal.
While the defense did their job, the Titans' offense didn't falter as they and the Warriors' offense went back and forth on scoring touchdowns until The Elite Four came around in a comeback in the end. Senior running back, Ben "The Train" Cheney, went all out rushing for 91 yards in 10 carries along with catching 34 yards in passing to get a receiving touchdown. Aside from the running game, the receiving team put out outstanding numbers. The tight end, senior, Alec Volturi, assisted in having 6 receptions in catching for 81 yards including the Volturious touchdown catch at the last minute while the dynamic duo wide receivers outscoring their opponents. Freshman, Garrett McGovern, dominated as he had four receptions to having a season high 128 yards including a touchdown while Brave Bird, senior Demetri Tracker, went all out catching for 154 yards in seven receptions to receive two touchdowns taking down the defenders in his way.
But the main attraction of the game was none other than their star quarterback, senior, Edward Cullen.
Cullen rebounded from last week's loss as he outdueled Phoenix in an epic combat as the two quarterbacks went back and forth scoring touchdowns where Slayward wins in the end. The future NFL star had a completion of 27 passes out of 36 attempts as he threw for 443 yards and rushed for 56 yards as he scored five touchdowns including one in an epic comeback from the last minute of the game. All of which gave Cullen gave him record breaking passer rating of 162.3. Speaking of records, Cullen was able to become the all-time leader in passing yards and touchdown passes in high school history with 19,373 yards in passing and 235 in touchdown passes.
With the big win over the Warriors, the Titans secured their spot in the playoffs where they are moments away to return to the WIAA State Championship. They will face the Vipers in two weeks in what many are hoping to see the Titans give the Vipers some payback from the humiliating loss.
As I read the article, I saw all the photos shown of me; photos of some of my best plays, including the final throw I made to win the game, becoming the all-time leader in passing yards and touchdown passes, the showdown between me and Wyatt and the end where I shook hands with him after the game. Along with it are some of the other players who made a key factor in our victory.
There was Seth's game winning interception along with the sack leading to a safety, Demetri with the best shot of his touchdown catch, Ben's best running play and Alec's touchdown to help turn the game around were all there. I smiled seeing how my team pulled off on this victory. It was by far the best moment of my life. And I can't wait for us to play again soon in the playoffs. The road to the championship is on.
I felt a slap on my shoulder and I turned to see it coming from a random guy who came up to me. "Never doubted you for a second. I had others try to prove me wrong, but you showed them." He smiled as I thanked him. "This is your share," He then handed me a wad of cash. To my surprise by the looks of it, it looks to be about a hundred dollars. "That's half of what I got." He said as he happily slapped my back and took off. I chuckled as I pocketed the cash.
"There he is!" I looked up to some of the popular students walking by to where I am.
"MVP!"
"Nice game, Cullen!"
"You were awesome as always, Edward!"
"Knew you weren't going to let some freshmen outshine you."
"Back to the championship, here we go!" They continue to praise me as they walked by until they were gone while I thanked them.
"Edward," I turned when a girl I know from my math class came up to me. "This is for you." She pulled out from the brown paper bag and handed to me to what appears to be a mini sculpture of a blue turtle as its head was bobbling around. "I made it as part of my art project and since I made extras, I thought I give one to you." She smiled.
"Thank you." I smiled as she nodded her head.
"And here," She then pull out to give me the same turtle only it's pink. "You can give that one to your girlfriend. I'll see you in class." And with that, she was off.
I opened my locker that was next to me and set those two turtles there for me to pick up later. I sighed when I closed it and then opened the school paper I was reading again and looked at the article where it shows the big image of me and Bella in her disguise from last week's game where I got my accomplishments as a quarterback.
Edward's Mystery Girl
The star quarterback who hopes to make it into the NFL has done more than just becoming the all-time passing yards and passing touchdowns leader. Senior, Edward Cullen, has seen to have scored himself love as well.
Cullen was seen with a mysterious girl during the game where after he became the passing yards leader, he met up with his family and that said girl who appears to be his girlfriend as evident from her attire where she was seen wearing Cullen's football jersey. Not much is known about this mysterious girl since she doesn't attend Forks High, but it does raises questions about her. Who is she? Where is she from? Does she go to Forks High? What year is she? What's her story? What does she do? How did she and Cullen met?
According to some sources, Isabella, the girl Cullen is seeing, is from out of town and that she and Cullen met after the game against the Sonics. One thing led to another, the two started dating and are maintaining a long distance relationship. They say long distance relationships are challenging and two-thirds of it don't work out. But by the looks of it however, the two have shown to be immensely in love with each other as evidence from last week's game despite that they've been together for over a month.
It's only a matter of time before Cullen decides to talk about his love life and who that mysterious girl is, but one thing's for certain, Slayward is off the market.
I stared at the photo of me and Bella, the girl who everyone apart from my friends who knew, believes her as Isabella. The girl no one knows who she even is. I'm surprise at how we pulled it off last week. No one suspected about the sudden arrival of Isabella and her friends and Charlie. They never saw through their disguises. They were ordinary people to them, not celebrities. This just makes things go according to plan. Our way to keep our relationship on the low profile is going well. Now that Rider is out of the picture and with Bella being in disguise and all, no one is hounding about Bella dating someone like me who isn't famous. Yet. And no one is following me around about how I ended up dating a celebrity like Bella. Basically, our relationship hasn't been exposed. This is good since we wanted to keep our relationship that way until the time comes once Bella and I are certain it is going well.
Although, despite no one knowing about my relationship with Bella, my relationship with Isabella on the other hand is one to talk about instead, and that's annoying to be honest.
Everywhere I go in school, everyone is asking me questions about my girlfriend just as the school article has pointed out. It has been going on nonstop. It's all they've all been talking about more than the game or my accomplishments. I mean seriously, what is with Forks and talking. There are plenty of things to talk about it for fuck sakes. Sports, other celebrity gossips, politics, even an actual race between an elderly on the slowest electric scooter and Demetri. Literally just anything besides me having a girlfriend no one has heard about. Well, if there's one thing I know about Forks, it's the smallest city in Washington and there's nothing much to talk about after just a day so they go for the conversation of any random things such as new people in the city and what goes on in their lives until the next day.
Knowing that second period was about to start soon, I stuffed the article in my locker and turned around facing none other than… well, who do you think?
"Are you lost? The principal's office is that way?" I teased with a smirk as I pointed at the direction he should go while Mike gives out a pissed off look.
"Shut it Cullen!" Mike snapped. "You better start explaining!" He demanded.
I sighed. "I told you for the hundredth time Mike, I did not sabotage your chances at last week's game. You did that all on your own. And even if I did sabotaged it, you don't have any proof for it."
"Not that, I'm talking about your so called girlfriend!" Mike said.
"What about her?" I asked while being annoyed that Mike had the nerve to call my Bella "so called."
"How is it you even have a girlfriend?" Mike asked.
"Okay Mike, I get that you think you're all hot-shit and everything, but if you'd have paid attention to what goes on in other peoples' lives, you would know that I have had girlfriends in the past." I explained to Mike as if I was talking to a five year old in small words even he could understand.
"That's not what I meant!" Mike said in annoyance causing me to chuckle.
"Then do try to ask me." I said in pleasure.
"What's the deal here? No one has heard about you seeing someone until last week, then she shows up at your game and we don't know her at all. We've never even heard about this girl." Mike said in complaint. "And now this girl of yours is claiming to be your girlfriend?"
"And that's a problem because?" I asked, tauntingly.
"Why is it now that we are finding out about her?" Mike asked in demand.
"What's it to you about being the last one to know about me having a girlfriend? It's not my fault you were all too focused on yourself." I said trying my best to hold my snicker.
"Nothing makes sense!" Mike said. "What is the deal between you and this girl?"
"Again, what's it to you?" I asked starting to get tired of this. "We met, hung out, started having feelings for one another and the rest is history."
Mike just stared at me after I answered. "What are you trying to pull?"
"And what the hell is that supposed to mean?" I asked rolling my eyes.
"What are you trying to hide? This town would've heard about this girl, talking about her and everything and somehow you managed to keep things a secret until now. What is it about this girl?" Mike asked.
"I got nothing to hide. What goes on about my girlfriend is none of your damn business." I said and walked around him but stopped for brief moment. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get to class." And with that, I walked away, but not before Mike called me out.
"I know you're hiding something Cullen! Believe me, I will find out about your girlfriend and see what is it with you two." He declared as the warning bell for class to begin soon rang. "Shit." I turned to see him run passed me until he was stopped by one of the faculty members of the school. "What, are you serious?!" He asked in disbelief as the staff member pulled out a pad and wrote Mike up for running in the hallway. "What about her?" He asked pointing at one girl who was also running to her class but the staff member didn't say anything about it. I chuckled as I walked passed them with a smirk on my face and entered my Calculus class where Angela, Ben and Seth are sitting in our group sitting area.
"What are you looking so smug about?" Ben asked in amusement as I sat down with them.
"Yeah man, I get that you're all happy for winning the game and becoming the GOAT from all the records you've obtained last week, but this seems to be more than that." Seth said.
"Oh, it's just my encounter with Mike where he was just being all Mike as usual." I chuckled as I pulled out my notebook.
"What did he say this time?" Ben asked looking intrigued now. "And what snarky comeback did you gave him?" He added while Seth and I laughed as Angela rolled her eyes though amused and interested to know.
"Eh, Mike was questioning why he and everyone never heard about me seeing someone and trying to understand what is it about Isabella." I answered as I waved it off like it wasn't a big deal. "Then he goes on stating how he thinks something's up and is going to get to the bottom of finding out about Isabella."
"Aren't you worried that he'll discover who Isabella really is?" Angela asked with concern.
"Oh please, with the way Mike is doing in school and how he has an actual pea brain worse than his skills as a quarterback, I doubt that he will figure it out on his own." I scoffed.
"But Edward, we live in Forks, the smallest city in Washington." Angela pointed out. "Word will get around if it hasn't already about Isabella. At this rate, Mike will eventually figure something's not right about your girlfriend and will soon discover that she's actually you-know-who. Which means he might actually expose you guys by selling you out to the paparazzi, thus revealing your relationship with her before you guys tell the whole world."
"Even if Mike does try to find out, he would need solid evidence before he get a taste of fifteen minutes of fame and people would forget about him. And in order for him to do that, he would have to catch Isabella and I together where her identity is revealed. But the thing is, she's going to be gone this week so he's got no chance in hell." I explained.
"You sure seem confident about keeping your relationship on the down low." Seth said.
"I'm not really worried about Mike." I shrugged. "I've kept my relationship with Isabella for this long even during the scandal, so there's no need for me to panic."
"Ugh, I wish I had your confidence!" Seth said as he just threw himself by laying his head where his arms are on his desk. "I could never be like you when I'm around Jane. How am I going to get her to go out with me?"
"Just tell her how you feel, man." Ben said to him like it was that obvious.
"You know how nervous I get when I try to talk to her." Seth complained in a muffle from having his head buried in his arms as I chuckled.
"And I thought helping him to get her to wear his jersey would give him the confidence he needs." Ben said. Angela however, still looked unconvinced about my response of Mike's suspicion.
"Edward, I'm still worried that Mike may find out about who your girlfriend is." She said.
"Oh Ang, just relax." Ben said as the bell rang while our teacher was getting everything ready for class to begin. "I mean this is Mike Newton we're talking about here. Where's he even gonna start? He doesn't even know who Isabella is nor does he know about her "story." He's going to have a hard time finding information about her since there was little information to start with. All people have heard lately is that she is out of town. No word about who her parents are and such. So it's going to be hard for Mike to pin down which Isabella he's looking for." He finished as I gave Angela the look that said, "There you have it."
"And besides, if we're able to keep our relationship hidden for this long, we may tell it to the public by New Year's." I said. That's what Bella and I agreed on over the weekend. And with the way we're handling it, I think we can pull it off. And according to Alice, she believes it's going to be magical when the time comes. At least that's what she believes according to her "feelings."
Angela thought for a moment as the teacher began the class with a usual introduction before she gets to the subject. "Well, if you say so." She said. "But you have to know Edward, something such as your relationship this big, doesn't just get left alone if it's no big deal. With the situation you guys are in, Mike may have an edge. He may not be the brightest, smart-wise or street smart human being on earth, but he sounds determined to find out. Just be careful."
"I will, but this is Mike we're talking about. He's not as sneaky just like he fumbles the ball on the field. However, that doesn't mean you brought out a good point that I should watch out for others who want to get to the bottom of our relationship." I said.
And with that, my friends and I listened to our teacher going over some problems.
School went by and the whole me having a girlfriend thing goes on throughout school. Something tells me that because of the situation of our relationship, this topic won't go away until winter break. I just wish it was the playoffs now.
That's going have to wait in two weeks but until then, it's training time.
I spent the day after school at practice with my team as we prepare ourselves against the Vipers. It's time for some payback for that humiliation. I went through vigorous training, learning the playbook, getting in sync with my team as well as working on throws and play calling. Throughout training, I can feel Mike watching me like a hawk as if he's waiting for me to crack. No doubt to find out about me and Bella, which proves to be ineffective. Not even close. I'm surprised he's able to do that while training at the same time. Got to give him credit for that.
After practice was over, I drove home and parked my car in the usual driveway.
"I'm home." I called as I hear a bark.
"We're in here." I hear her say and I entered the living room to see my girls together with the little pup where she ran up to me so fast just as I sat my stuff down. "Someone sure is happy to see you." Bella teased with a smile as she giggled while I picked up Fluff and allowed her to lick my face.
"Not as I'm happy to see her," I smiled as I set Fluff down. "Though I'm mostly happy to see you, love." I said.
"I'm happy to see you as well." Bella said as she stood on her toes and kissed me on the lips.
"What about me?" My little sister pouted as she gave me those puppy eyes causing me to chuckle.
"Of course I'm happy to see my little sister." I said as I got down and let Renesmee run up to me and jumped into my arms.
"How was school?" Bella asked as I let my sister go and let her resume playing with Fluff.
"Oh the usual." I shrugged. "Just classes, books, learning and shit."
"Edward!" I hear my mom called out from the kitchen. Whoops. Wait, I thought mom was working.
"One dollar!" Nessie said, holding out her hand.
"Yeah, yeah." I said rolling my eyes as I handed my sister a dollar bill.
"I don't think that's the kind of role model your sister should look up to." Bella giggled.
"I'm not worried about that. She already has a role model in you." I said causing Bella to blush. "So how have you been?"
"Oh, I've been fine. I just stayed here while helping your mother around the house." Bella said. Her friends and Charlie left over the weekend while Bella stayed for a little longer since she's not needed until Wednesday.
"You weren't bored being in the house by yourself, were you?" I asked, feeling bad how she spent her day at my house since my parents were at work and Nessie and I had school and Bella can't be seen in public being at our home thus exposing our relationship.
"Oh not at all." Bella shook her head as she smiled. "Your mother actually stayed home and worked, so she has been good company. And I have been keeping myself busy reading my script for To All The Boys movie." Well that explains it.
"You know that you didn't have to stay, not that I'm complaining about it." I said as we sat down.
"That's what my mom said when I told her." Bella said with a shrug. I could tell by her look that there was more, but I figured I shouldn't press on with it. "I told her there's no rush so I can stay until tomorrow. Besides, I haven't seen you since the last time I was in Forks and I want to spend as much time with you since you invited me to your game." She smiled causing me to be happy about it.
"Well I'm happy that you're staying, even if it's for a short time." I said.
"Better than not seeing each other at all, right?" Bella asked as we both chuckled.
"Well, since you're leaving tomorrow, how about I take you out tonight?" I offered. "We can go to SkyCity again for dinner and there is state fair downtown."
"That's sounds like fun." Bella said with a smile.
"Can I come?" Nessie asked excitedly. Oh man. I thought turning to see her, feeling unsure how to break it to her that it's just going to be just Bella and I.
"Actually sweetie, you have your parent teacher conference that your father and I must attend tonight." My mother said as Esme was seen appearing from the kitchen. "We can all go together this weekend." She smiled.
"But Bella won't be there. I want to be with her." Nessie said with a sad look. Oh boy, here comes the water works.
"I'll tell you what Renesmee," Bella said as she got up and walked over to my sister and got down on her level. "I will bring back a prize for you when I win something at the fair."
"You promise?" Nessie asked hopefully.
"Promise." Bella smiled as she held out her pinky to which my sister hooked hers with.
"Alright Renesmee, we should get you ready before your father gets home." Esme said and with that, she and Nessie left the room leaving me and Bella alone with Fluff. Phew.
"That made it easier on me." I said in relief causing Bella to giggle.
"I knew you were too afraid to tell her so I figured I step in with assistance from your mother." She said.
"Did you and my mother planned this?" I teased.
"Not really, we were just in sync." Bella shrugged causing me to chuckle.
"Well, I should freshen up as well." I said as I got up.
"Yeah, you should." Bella said and then waved her hand away from her face. "Because no offense, but you reek."
"It's called sweat. It's an athlete thing." I smirked as I gathered my things and went upstairs to shower.
After I've taken my shower when my father arrived home form work, he and my mother took my sister to her school for her parent teacher conference leaving me and Bella alone. Once Fluff was checked on, it was time for our date. After Bella securely put on her wig all disguised and everything, I got her into my car and drove us to SkyCity.
The traffic wasn't crazy and since it was a Monday, there won't be much of a crowd tonight, which is good meaning the less crowded it is, the risk of Bella being exposed with me is low and easier for us to enjoy our date. Although, I have to say when the minute we arrived at the parking lot, it did looked to be empty, except for two cars.
"There doesn't seem to be many people eating here tonight." Bella said as we got out of the car and looked around. "Does it not get busy on a Monday?"
"Yeah, with school and everything, there's really not much of a reason to come here." I said as we walked hand in hand towards the building. "But even so, it shouldn't be like… deserted." We arrived after coming out of the elevator and saw a different hostess by the stand near the entrance.
"Oh hi, welcome to SkyCity. May I help you?" She asked, looking very surprised to see us.
"Yes, table for two please." I said.
"Um, I'm very sorry, but the whole restaurant is booked tonight due to an event." The hostess said with an unfortunate look.
"Oh." I said and looked at Bella who looked just as disappointed as I am at how part of our date is on a raincheck. "I'm sorry, love."
"It's okay." Bella assured me. "We can eat somewhere else." Before I could say anything,
"Is everything okay, Madison?" I looked to see it was the manager, Mr. Barker, coming over from the entrance of the restaurant. "Oh, I remember you two!" He said when he saw "Isabella" giving us a big smile.
"Hello Mr. Barker. Good to see you again." I smiled as he and I shook hands.
"A pleasure, Mr. Cullen. To what do I owe you for this?" He asked happily.
"Well, I came to invite my girlfriend here on another date, but I wasn't aware that the place was reserved," I began to explain but the manager cut me off.
"Oh say no more! After the assistance you've gave me to prevent that Rider jerk from suing the restaurant, I'm willing to serve you however you please. Not to mention to what he did to poor Bella Swan making that girl lie to us that they are together, I am forever in your debt. Madison, get a table for these two." Mr. Barker said happily causing me to be surprised at how considerate he's being.
"But sir… t-t-the whole place is booked." Madison said in shock.
"Oh there's hardly a crowd in there anyway." Mr. Barker waved it off. "Only like twenty or thirty people. We can find a table for these two as long as they won't disturb our guests, right?" He asked me and Bella with a smile.
"I'm okay with that." Bella smiled as I nodded.
"Okay then, if you two follow me." Madison said as she shyly grabbed the menus and escorted me and Bella inside. Though I couldn't see it, I can hear people here. Though I'm guessing on the other side of the restaurant. She led us to a table at the corner but with a good view. "I'll be right back with your drinks." She said once we sat down and told her what we'd like to drink and left our table.
"That sure turned out well." I said.
"You really had your way to make this happen, Cullen." Bella teased.
"Hey, you do good things and good things happen to you." I grinned. "Plus, I'd never thought I say this, but I ought to thank Rider for making this happen." I said causing Bella to chuckle.
"I guess the whole scandal he made really does has it perks." She said as Madison came back with our drinks and took our order before she left again.
"Have you, um… heard from him lately?" I asked being curious about Rider actually since there has been no word about him after his scam was exposed along with his true colors according to Jessica and Jane.
"No." Bella said with a sigh. "He hasn't bothered me since Jimmy Fallon's show. No one has heard from Rider since. I noticed on his Instagram that he keeps posting on his stories ranting on the drugs and everything were all lies and that I do indeed love him, which that part is a lie. But judging from the amount of followers he has and based on people reposting his stories, they don't buy it. So I guess you can say he hasn't really bothered me."
"Well that's good to hear." I said. At least he's out of the picture. Though I get a feeling that it won't be the last time we hear from him.
"So what's going on at school?" Bella asked.
"Well, despite that we won last week and becoming a record holder, people aren't really talking about it." I said, shaking my head.
"What happened?" Bella asked, sounding worried.
"Everyone's talking about us." I answered.
"Wait, they know?" Bella asked in shock with a gasp.
"No, no, not like that," I assured her. "It's just… them finding out I have a girlfriend when they've never seen nor heard about her raised a lot of questions. And it's all they've been talking about more than the game. I spent the whole day being asked about you."
"I'm sorry." Bella said sadly causing me to be surprised about it. Of all the things happening to me, she thinks it's her fault. I get Bella's being selfless, but this isn't something she has caused.
"Don't be." I said gently shaking my head. "It was just tiresome to hear everyone talk about us, but at least they don't suspect anything about us." I then gave out a chuckle.
"What's so funny?" Bella asked.
"Oh, it's just one of my teammates claims that there is something going on and was watching me the whole day at practice to uncover the truth." I snickered.
"Aren't you worried?" Bella asked in concern.
"Not at all." I said. "He's a complete dumbass. And I mean he's not at all bright, class-wise, or street-wise. He sucks as a player and can't seem to take a hint from girls what no means."
"Well, just be careful, okay? You won't know who's watching you before we can announce our relationship." Bella said.
"I will as long as you do the same." I said with a smile causing her to do the same.
"I've been pretty evasive about my private life when they ask me lately about who I'm dating. I can handle my part. It's you that needs to be careful." Bella said. I nodded my head.
Bella and I continue talking about random things as our food arrived. It seems Mr. Barker has gone all out to have the staff make the meal look exquisite. Not to mention taste so fucking good. I sure hope it's not too expensive, even if he were to say it's on the house again. We ate as Bella told me how she going to help again with the audition for John since they got a new publicist to handle the media. Along with it, she gave me a little V.I.P. news that she and the others are hosting a Rainbow Garden marathon in December before the weekend. That'll be something for Jessica and Jane, no doubt planning the event and hosting it at my house. We're going to be up all night. At least we can recap the series before the new season begins to where we last left off where Bella's character Evelyn was rescued after jumping into river during a rain storm to commit suicide after Rosalie's character Lilly pushed away her feelings only for Lilly to come in terms with her feelings and came to save her.
"So," Bella said after we were almost done with our meal. "There is something big I wanted to share with you." She sounded very excited about it.
"Okay." I said as I sat my utensils done to listen. "What is it?"
"My day to day manager called me over the weekend. She's the one who handles my music career." Bella began. "You see, she arranged a concert for me, but it's not a promotion for sales or anything. This is to raise money for the Seattle Children's hospital and they wanted someone from Washington to be part of the event. Since Charlie is from Forks, they asked for him to help and he agreed to it. He had one condition though, and that is if I were to perform."
"That's great. You're doing a good thing for the children. I'm sure they'll be happy for what you're doing for them." I smiled, being proud of my girl for doing such a kind act.
"But that's not the best part." Bella grinned. "The show I'll be performing is during a football game, at halftime. It's at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup, on November twenty-first." I stopped her right there.
"Wait," Please don't tell me what I think she's saying. "Are you telling me that you'll be performing at halftime for the WIAA State Championship?!" I asked in shock.
"YES!"
"That's amazing!" I said as I got up and scooped Bella out of her seat, spinning her around in a hug. Oh hell yeah! Now that is some serious motivation to get through the playoffs to the state championship!
"I'll be performing for you guys again!" Bella said happily.
"Hold on, love," I said when I sat her down but held her still in my arms. "We have to make it to the championship to see you perform."
"But I have no doubt that you will make it." Bella smiled.
"I love you." I said.
"I love you." Bella said as we share a kiss. Even from the food she ate, all I can taste are her lips. Kissing her never gets old. Nothing could ruin this moment.
"Well, I was wondering what the commotion is all about over here. Should've known." Bella and I broke apart to see none other than her mother in front of us.
"Mom?" Bella looked around to be sure no one else was around. Thankfully, Mr. Barker, Madison nor any of the waiters or staff are presence. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh we had a Q & A at some convention in Seattle for the upcoming Maleficent movie that took forever." Renee answered like it was no big deal as she looked at her nails before looking at us. "Then we were all invited here for dinner where the director booked the restaurant so that no paparazzi and some commoners can bother us. So I guess that you charmed the manager to let you in? Always knew you were my daughter." She smiled at her.
"Actually, I didn't. He doesn't even know it's me. Edward's the one who made it happen." Bella said as she took my hand in hers.
"Him?" Renee said in disgust as she looked at me up and down. "And what did he do to get you here?"
"Nothing special." I answered, keeping my face neutral. "I did an act of kindness to save the restaurant and the manager repaid me with good service." That caused Renee to scoff.
"What, you didn't pay him with money? How did you even help?" Renee asked me.
"Mom," Bella said. Renee ignored her.
"Why are you still with Bella?" She asked me.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked with a glare.
"I assumed that you two were over." Renee said like it was that simple.
"Mom!"
"And what makes you think Bella and I were through?" I asked as my blood was boiling regardless of feeling Bella trying to calm me down.
"Well she was having fun with Rider until she ruined it." Renee said giving out a direct to Bella. That got Bella's attention.
"Having fun?! Fun?! What makes you think I was enjoying being with Rider?! I! Don't! Like! Him! I did what I did because you made those lies when you know full well I don't like him!" Bella said in frustration.
"If you would've just given him a chance, I wouldn't have to come up a way to save your reputation from the press." Renee said.
"A chance? Have you not seen his reputation?" Bella asked in disbelief. Guess it's my turn to calm her down.
"Love," I whispered to her as I plant a kiss on her head so she wouldn't lose it. I then turned to Renee. "Look, your daughter and I do love each other, and nothing has changed that, nor it ever will."
"Renee?" We all turned to see a man with short dark brown hair with a hint of greyness showing as he appears to be in his late forties in front of us. "Is everything okay?" He asked looking at us.
"It's okay Harold, just talking to my daughter." Renee waved it off as she presented her daughter to him. "Bella, my director for the movie, Harold Wilson. I'm sure you know all about him."
"Of course." Bella said with a small smile.
"Bella Swan, what a pleasure is it to meet you." Harold said as he shook hands with her. "I've heard nothing but great things." He smiled.
"Same to you." Bella said.
"Do you mind if I talk to you for a moment? If your date is okay with it that is." Harold asked when he saw me.
"Go ahead." Renee said before Bella and I could say a word. Bella looked like she wanted to protest but I saw Renee gave her a look to not object. Bella reluctantly accepted and went with Harold where they only walked a few tables away for me not to hear them. That left me alone with the diva herself.
"So what was your name again? Edwin, was it?"
A pathetic unsportsmanlike conduct; taunting. It's just what a defensive player would do when they can't stop a play so the best way for them to prevent it from happening again was to get inside an opposing players' head, just showing a cheap way to prove their greatness making them have none. That doesn't affect me though, so does she really believe she was going to get to me with such a cheap and obvious tactics?
"It's Edward." I corrected her as I brushed it off like it was nothing.
"Well, Edward, I'm only telling you this once, end your relationship with Bella." Renee demanded.
"That's not for you to say, Renee." I immediately say, sternly.
"It's Mrs. Swan!" Renee snapped. "Your mother should've raised you better than that when you talk to a lady. And it is for me to say. You are damaging Bella's image by being with her and when word gets out that Bella's dating someone like you, she will lose her fans and everything she has worked hard for. Not to mention what it'll do to our family name. She should be dating someone like Harry Styles or Justin Bieber. Not some wannabe football player." She said.
"Bella should date whoever she wants, whether that person is famous or not is that what trying to refer me as." I said. "And for your information, Tom Brady married super model Gisele Bundchen and Ciara married Russell Wilson. Both of whom are star quarterbacks and Super Bowl Champions."
"Oh please, Russell's shorter than Ciara. She and Future should've been together. They were meant to be." Renee scoffed. Is she that delusional to not get how Future cheated on Ciara? I thought in disbelief.
"Look, Bella is free to date whoever she wants to be with and as a mother, you should be supportive of our relationship just like Charlie has." I said angrily.
"You don't know what Bella wants. And neither does Charlie, but I do." Renee snapped. "Bella is making a big mistake being with you. She is becoming a big celebrity, being an actress and singer and I'm not going to let her give it all up for some dumb jock who wants something out of her."
"That's where you are wrong about me." I said, shaking my head. "I don't want anything from Bella other than her love for me. You clearly don't know your daughter and based on this conversation we're having here just proves it."
"I don't need some sweaty neanderthal to tell me anything about my daughter." Renee sneered, her eyes scanning me derisively.
"Apparently you do. Bella is doing things because she wants to. She does things on her terms. She's not doing it just for herself, but to make you and Charlie proud. Because she loves you." I said. "But all you cared about is fame and image, that everything is based on what you believed in such as thinking someone like me shouldn't be with someone like Bella. You treat Bella and her career as if you're living through her and not being a mother, unaware what a gift she is."
"I'm well aware that she's a gifted actress and singer,"
"No," I cut her off like a quick snap. "Bella is a gift. And you took advantage of it."
Renee huffed and curled her lip at me. "My relationship with my daughter is none of your business."
"The hell it is! I'm not going to let you tell me that I'm not worth Bella just because I'm below you." I said, trying my best to calm down. I took a deep breath and continue. "Bella is everything to me and I'm not walking away what we have."
"That's very cute thinking you could be the one to be with my daughter, but I'll tell you this, your relationship with her won't last and Bella will leave her little fantasy she had with you back where she belongs and in the end, she'll know I was right." Renee smirked.
I started to respond, to argue, but Renee plowed on, cutting me off with a flick of a wrist. "No, no, you've had your fun with her but it's time to wake up from your silly little dream and face reality and that you and Bella should end the relationship before it's too late."
"No."
"Excuse me? Did I stutter, or did you not understand what I was saying? Or perhaps you need to hear it in a different language." Renee said with a raised eyebrow.
"I'm not leaving Bella. You can't make me. Nothing can change my mind." I said as I stood my ground. Renee just stared at me with a glare like how teams get ready before the ball is in my hands and I give the signal.
"How much are you willing to take and walk away then?"
Are you fucking serious?! She did not just ask me that question.
"There is no fucking way I am taking your money to give up on your daughter! Nothing will ever take her away from me!" I said sounding very pissed. "You don't know anything about me. You don't know anything about us. Bella and I, we're everything. Bella is everything. And you're the one who's nothing!" And with that, I thrusted two hundred dollar bills, not caring for the change as I walked passed Renee and up to Bella who is happily enjoying her conversation with Harold. I hate to be an asshole, but Renee has gotten under my skin.
"Come on, love," I said taking her hand. "We're leaving." And with that, I dragged her with me before she could say anything as we walked passed Renee. I saw her smirk at me as I held back a growl while making our way out of the restaurant and to the parking lot.
"Edward, what's wrong?" Bella asked as we were out.
"Nothing." I said, shortly. That's when I felt a tug and Bella's hand was out of my grasp. I turned to see her stopping where she is.
"Bullshit, Edward." She said with her arms crossed. "The way you rudely interrupted me and Harold and how you're acting proves something's up. What happened? What did my mother say to you?"
I pinched the bridge of my nose and took deep breaths so I wouldn't snap at Bella. Though it's hard to do so with the conversation I had with her mother.
"Well, for starters, she doesn't approve of our relationship." I started.
"Not surprising, go on." Bella snorted and let me continue.
I let out a deep breath before I spoke. "She wanted me to… end our relationship. Of course I told her that wasn't going to happen, but your mother proves to be just as stubborn as you."
"She's gonna have to do a lot better than that just to break us up." Bella said. Oh, you don't know the half of it. "What else did she say?"
I was quiet before I decided to say it. "She thinks… you're making a big mistake being with me and it's going to ruin your life and career. That you should be with someone… in your league and drop our relationship, thinking it's nothing but a fling." I said. Bella was silent, but I can see from the look in her eyes that she is not liking this one bit.
"There's more, is there." Damn.
There was silence. And then I spilled it out. "Your mother… tried to…," I was struggling on how I say it, but it wouldn't matter because of how she'll react. "She tried to offer me money… to walk away from you." I had a nervous look on my face to see the reaction and just as I expected Bella looked beyond pissed.
"She! Fucking! Didn't!" She growled.
"She did, but it's okay. I didn't accept the money. I just told her off and walked away to get you." I assured her. That there caused Bella to calm down a bit with her eyes closed as I walked over to her and held her in my arms. "Love, I wasn't going to let anything come between us and I certainly wasn't going to choose money over you. I never wanted you for money or fame. I only wanted you."
"I know." Bella said, opening her eyes as she looked up at me. "I'm just mad at what she said and what she tried to do. I knew my mother wasn't supportive about our relationship, but I never imagined she would stoop so low to take away what I love."
"Trust me, I'm just as mad at your mother as you are." I said as I placed a kiss on her forehead. "But you should know how much I love you and that I would never, ever, walk away from what we have just because we come from two different worlds. If your mother did, I would fight to the ends of the world to have you back. You're all that matters to me. I don't care what people say, as long as it's only me and you."
"That goes for me as well." Bella said as she wrapped her arms around my neck giving me a peck on the lips. "I don't care if you're famous or not, rich or poor, or whatever my mom thinks of you. I only love you for who you are and for showing how much you love me. That's all I ever needed from you."
"What did I ever do to deserve you?" I said as my forehead rested against hers.
"I should be asking you that question." Bella smiled and soon, our lips met and it didn't stop. Just kissing her suddenly made all my anger about what happened between me and Renee went away. Having Bella in my presence is all I needed to calm down. We were kissing for what feels like forever until we pulled apart.
"I'm sorry if my mother got to you." Bella said.
"Don't be. It's not something I'm not used to. I'm just sorry for how I acted." I said with a shrug.
"Hey, let's drop the apologies then and not let my mother ruin our night." Bella said as she placed a hand on my face.
"Alright." I nodded my head.
"Now come on," Bella said as she took my hand with a smile. "We have a fair to go to. After all, I promised someone's sister a prize to win."
"Then let's not disappoint her, shall we?" I smiled as we got into my car and drove off to the fair to enjoy our night together.
"Come on guys!" I yelled as we watched our defense doing their best to stop the other team through the roaring crowd.
We watch as the Bison's quarterback, Jeff Rattler, got the ball in his hands and somehow avoided the blitz and threw a pass to his wide receiver, evading our secondary and ran all the ran to the endzone on a twenty five yard touchdown causing groans from our side as the other side erupted in cheers. As the Steilacoom High School football team were celebrating gleefully, I looked at the scoreboard after they just scored their fifth touchdown, giving them a lead of 35, to 0. And it's only the end of the first quarter.
It was after Bella returned home to LA and it's the playoffs where we are in the second round in Renton against the Steilacoom High School Bisons. Our school advanced from the first round in an easy win against the Vipers in a rematch after that disastrous loss a few weeks ago. The minute we arrived on the field, there was definite gleefulness and smug from the Vipers, thinking they got this win in the bag after how they fought against us. They even go there way by taunting us all, including to me. When word got out to them about me having a girlfriend, some defensive players went out to say things to me such as commenting on hot my girlfriend is and making comments in an inappropriate way about her on the field during the game. One player even went far to make a inappropriate gesture on what he would do with my girl when he failed to sack me.
First of all, I was pissed at how he would think that way about my girl even if she wasn't my girlfriend. And second of all, where's the flag for taunting you ask? Well, one of the referees didn't make the call even though he saw the whole thing as if there was no taunting which obviously there was. Apparently, he was new from another state and is unaware from the other referees about me. So what did I do to teach him a lesson? Well, let's just say I had a "mishap" when I got the ball "backed up too far" and ran right into that ref a little "too hard" resulting him being knocked to the ground. He soon got the message not to fuck with me and my team of unfairness and ridiculous penalties when I asked if he was okay and to next time to do his damn job right from now on when I gave that look as he understood what I know.
As for how we played, well… we blew the Vipers away. After all, action speaks louder than words. They got a taste of the revengeful Slayward as I outmaneuvered their blitz and threw passes after passes to my teammates leading to touchdowns one after another. Ben, Demetri, Alec, Garrett, and many others took down the defenders that got in their way, hard. Every one of those players who tried to make a stop were left stunned as if one moment they knew the outcome, and then the next, they were wondering what just happened. Their offense was just as bad as their defense. Even with their quarterbacks returning from a carousel of reasons why they didn't play against us last time, they were no match for our defense. They've only got five first downs out of who knows how many times they've had the ball while our defense dominated them big time. Seth helped Paul and Jared sack the quarterbacks to a total of twelve times, a huge playoff record. Seth also assisted Paul, Embry and Quil in stopping the wide receivers, delivering big hits, and even getting a total of eight interceptions from the quarterbacks. Another playoff record.
When the game was over, the entire Viper team walked out of the field without even a handshake of sportsmanship. All of them had a look of being stunned, as if they just came out of something torturous. Hey, when you're a mediocre team and just came out with a big win such as beating us from before, try not to let that get to your head. Otherwise… well, you saw what the Vipers went through. Oh and in case you were wondering about the score, it was 70 – 0.
Now against our current opponents, it seems like the tables have turned on us, because we're not getting anywhere in the game and the Bisons are dominating us.
It was our ball now and after a touchback from the kickoff, I ran onto the field with my team as we huddle to get things going.
"Alright, let's try Drill Rush. I need an open formation." I said as the team nodded their heads and we broke the huddle and got into formation at the twenty-five yard line. I tried to tone out the crowd noises as I started making the play call. "Red 27, get set, HIKE, HIKE!" I yelled and the ball was snapped into my hands. As the formation was broken out, I handed the ball to Ben as he ran towards the offensive line. However, instead of making an opening for Ben, the defensive front all rushed in occupying the offensive line leaving no opening as one of them broke through and stopped Ben before he could get even a yard to get things going.
The next play was not even close to the first one. When I got the ball and attempted for a throw, I got sacked from an all out blitz causing us to lose five yards. I only got the ball for like a second and this happens. What the fuck?
Alec and Ben helped me up as we are now on third down and fifteen. If we don't get fifteen yards to get the first down, we're never getting anywhere in this game. And if we're not getting anywhere, we'll never win this game. And if we don't win this game, … then this school will never get to see Bella perform and I won't see Bella there. And I can't disappoint everyone.
We got in formation after I gave the play plan to them.
"Blue 27, ready, set… set HIKE!" I said as the ball was in my hands. I looked around as my receivers went down field while being hightailed by the defenders. As Ben and Alec tries to assist the offensive line to protect me, one of the defensive tackles got lose and came at me. I tried to run away and seeing how no one was open, I had no choice but to throw the ball away. However, just as I was about to make a throw, the player got me by the leg causing me to fall as I threw the ball and before that ball could go out of the field, one of the Bison defenders came in and jumped for the ball and caught it, staying bounds.
"And it's picked off again!" More cheers from the Steilacoom fans as our school groaned. "This time it's Rhoades who made the interception!"
"FUCK!" I said in frustration as I got up. That's the fourth time I got picked off tonight. I swear I get more interceptions than touchdowns, by four!
"Dude, we're getting creamed out there." Ben said as we got on the sidelines.
"Tell us something we don't know, genius." Demetri said sarcastically as our defense came onto the field, looking tired.
"Hey, I'm just saying it as it!" Ben snapped.
"Yeah? Well no one asked you!" Demetri retorted.
"Well I didn't ask for your damn opinion, dumbass!" Ben said.
"Excuse me?!"
"Guys, cool it!" I said as Alec and I got in to separate the two when they were about to engage into a fight. "This is no time for you idiots to be fighting. Especially with a game going on here."
"He's right." Alec said and then turned to me. "But they both do got a point. I hate pointing out the obvious here Edward, but we're getting our asses handed to us."
"It's not just that, the Bisons are stopping us from making a play every chance they get." Ben stated. "Every play we make, they seem to know how to stop it immediately and they can see the holes of our defense and get passed them easily."
"I know, it's like they know every single move we make and can see it coming." Alec said.
"But that's impossible!" Demetri said. "There's no way they could know our every move by the book and know how to stop it. Only Edward here can read off what the team is about to do and read them off when he's on the field, and not even he is a hundred percent sure he has chance to pull it off so easily."
I agree. I thought. The Bisons are a good team, but not elite if you get what I mean. They were lucky enough to get the last spot of the playoffs after being in a drought for five years. They're good, but there's no way they can be that good to prevent us from making any plays and score easily. No team can be that perfect. Not even the Patriots when they had that perfect season going undefeated, and they lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl. Could we be playing the playoff version of the Bisons instead of the regular season Bisons?
I looked up as another quarterback from the Bisons got his team to another easy first down almost at midfield. When that happened, I hear Mike and I turned to see him complaining to Coach Clapp to put him in instead of me. But coach ignored him as he was watching the game. I'm surprised that Coach hasn't been yelling at me at all throughout the game for all the bad plays that I've made. He didn't even yell at the team either. He just stood there, chewing on his fingernails looking nervous. That's common for coaches to be nervous during a game when they are down by a few points. However, the way Coach Clapp is acting, it doesn't seem to be nerves from the game. I can see the fidgeting on his face. Something's on his mind, but what could be bothering him during a game?
That's when I noticed the coach's clipboard he was holding on his side. There was only the list of players on the roster that were eligible to play. No play calls or list of tactics to use on the field. He usually has them from his playbook. Why isn't he using it?
That's when something clicked and without even thinking, I turned to what I found.
"Guys," I pulled the three of them close to me that our heads almost bonked into each other. "Over at the Bison's sideline, look at Jeff." They followed to where I'm pointing at to see Jeff standing behind a few players, but we were able to make out what we saw in his hands.
"Is that the coach's playbook?" Ben asked in shock when they saw the grey binder that has our school logo on it.
"Yeah, they're reading off every play we make using our playbook! They're cheating!" I said angrily as we see Jeff looking smug as he read through our playbook. The others were outraged as they all spoke at once.
"Son of a bitch!" Ben said.
"Oh hell no!" Alec said.
"Those little shitheads!" Demetri said.
"And to think we're starting to believe they're better than us." Ben said.
"Well they never were, and that there proves it!" Demetri said as we see Jeff show something to his teammate before he went onto the field.
"Even so, there's no way they could've predict our every move if they knew right away what to do. They would have to see it from our side and then know the play-by-play." Alec said.
"Exactly." I said causing them to look at me in confusion. "I got a feeling that someone's spying on us." I said as I looked around the crowd seeing who could it be giving Steilacoom High inside information.
"Come on, let's get him!" Demetri said.
"Hold on!" I said as I grabbed the three of them before they could make a run for it. "We can't just go out there and just take the playbook from Jeff by force."
"Well are you expecting that we just get destroyed and let them win and get to the state championship by cheating?!" Alec asked in disbelief.
"We can't go run off when we're about to be on the field any second." I pointed out. "Besides, if we go out on their sideline, we could get disqualified and possibly not play in the championship. Plus, Jeff will possibly destroy it and deny the officials if we tell them of the Bisons cheating." Seeing that, the guys know that I'm right.
"Well what are we gonna do then?" Ben asked.
"Wait here," I said and left them before they could ask or even follow me. I may have a plan to stop this and win this game. I just need help. "Angela, Jess!" I found them away from the team on the sideline as Angela had her camera in her hands with Jessica by her side.
"What's wrong, Edward?" Jessica asked.
"Is everything okay?" Angela said.
"No, Steilacoom High is cheating. They have our playbook knowing every move we have and anticipating what we do before we even do anything." I explained.
"Are you serious?!" Jessica said in shocked as I nodded my head.
"Listen, there's no time. Angela, can you and the AV club members hack into the security systems to find evidence on what the Bisons did?" I asked her.
"I will try." Angela said in determination.
"And Jessica, you, Heidi and Jane search through the crowd for anyone that shouldn't even be on our side." I said.
"Leave it to us." Jessica said and with that, they were off. Part one done, now for the next part. I looked around until I saw her.
"Renesmee!" I called my sister over from her cheer squad as the juniors were just sitting around and waiting for instructions while the seniors were doing their best to pump this crowd going.
"Yes, Edward?" Nessie asked as she came over to me.
"I need you to help your big brother with something important. You see the guy wearing number two?" I pointed in the direction where Jeff is for her to see.
"Uh huh!" Nessie said, nodding her head.
"You see the thing he's holding?" I asked, referring to the playbook. Nessie nodded her head again. "Okay, here's what I need you to do," I whispered into her ear of the plan. "You think you can do that?"
"Okay!" Nessie said as she excitedly took off. Be careful, Nessie. I thought. Because if something happens to her, well… fuck the championship, no one messes with my little sister. The crowd cheered as I looked to see the Bisons scored another touchdown causing our school to groan. Well, now for the next part. I just hope this works.
I returned with my team as the kickoff for our ball came for another touchback.
"Okay, so what do we do captain?" One of my teammates asked when we got in the huddle.
"Yeah, by now, we used every play and they'll just stop us right on the spot." Another one said.
"Don't worry about it now. I got a way for us to be sure we will make it to the championship." I assured them with confidence.
"How?"
"Just trust me. As for what we'll do, it's time to do things our way. Elite Four style!" I said with a smirk causing Ben, Alec, and Demetri to be excited about it. "Everyone else, just do how you normally do. Let us do the rest."
"Break!" We got information as the defense from the Bisons looked ready to go, with gleeful looks. Not for long, I hope.
"Blue 27, Red 18," I got down ready to signal for the snap and the defense were ready. And… "Red rover, red rover!" I called as I stood up looking both sides using my arms to signal them as I saw the defense looked confused suddenly as they loosen their position while Demetri ran from his position to the other side. "And go!" That's when the ball snapped and went passed me only to land in Demetri's hands when he ran passed me as I made a run for it just as the team broke out.
Demetri ran to the other side as he stopped, turned to me as I stopped for him to toss me the ball. As I caught it, I quickly threw it to where Ben is just as a defender was about to block him but it was too late when Ben caught it before he was down and our school cheered that we finally got the first down at our own forty yard line.
As Ben was getting up handing the balls to officials, I was to make out to hearing what one of the Bisons players was saying to his teammate. "What was that? That was never in the playbook." I smirked as we got in formation, no need for a huddle.
"Blue 27, Olly-Olly oxen free," I said causing Ben to move to my other side and come forward. "Here we go, set hike!" I quickly said as I dashed to the left when the ball was snapped right into Ben's arms. I made a break for it causing the defenders to come at me when,
"It's another first down!" Our school cheered when Ben ran forward only to stop a few steps and threw the ball over the line and right into Alec's arms as he rolled backwards before he was down. "Forks High are fighting back!" Let's hope so.
We got in formation again and I gave out the call while the defense were ready. Only they are now just as how a team should be, doing their best to try and stop us.
"Ready, Blue 27, set, Volturi, stand up." I said to Alec causing him to stood up more. "Hike!"
Alec ran back towards me as I handed him the ball and went where he came from and then downfield.
"Volturi stops, throws it and it's CAUGHT!" Our school cheered when I caught the ball and ran as much as I could until I was pushed out of bounds. "Cullen catches for thirty-five yards, and the Titans are fifteen yards away to get on the board."
I ran back to my team as we lined up at the fifteen yard line. We can see the defense arguing to get in position, though they are confused what to do.
"This is it! This is it! Let's go!" That call caused me, Alec, Demetri, and Ben to do a spin and back in our stance causing the defense to be completely confused. "And away we go!" The ball was in my hands as movement was made. I dashed to my right and made a run for it.
"There goes Cullen, and he looks like he's going to run it or maybe toss it," I stopped, causing the defender in front me to stop as well until ran again passed him. "He's going for it and runs passed the defenders, INTO THE ENDZONE!" Loud cheers were erupted as we finally scored a touchdown.
Once that was done, I dropped the ball as the guys joined me in my way of celebrating for a touchdown and that's pretending to be in Stars where we fight with light sabers until we used the force. We're back at it!
Just then, there was whistles being blown.
"Hey, HEY!" I turned to see why as someone was running from the sideline of the Bisons, into the field. Yes!
"I got it!" My sister yelled as she held out the playbook for me to see while she was running superfast.
"Give that back, you little brat!" Jeff cried as he broke from the sideline and went after her.
"Hold it, young lady." The referee said as Renesmee was making her way to where I was.
"Here!" Nessie said as she jumped up and handed him the playbook. The ref was confused as he examined it.
"She stole that from me!" Jeff yelled as he was running over to us as Renesmee went behind me while I protected her from him. However, Jeff wasn't fast enough.
"Hey, that's my playbook!" Coach Clapp said as he came over to us before Jeff did as he froze in his tracks.
"Your playbook?" The ref asked as two other referees joined in.
"Yes, I don't know how but I somehow lost it for the last few days. Look, it has my name and our logo on it." Coach explained as he pointed out the evidence for the refs to see.
"What's going on here?" The Bison's head coach, Jones, asked as he comes in to know what was happening, looking totally confused. The refs turned to Jeff.
"What was this doing in your possession, during the game?" He asked, showing the playbook to him causing Coach Jones to turned to Jeff with a "What's he talking about?" look.
"Uh…" Jeff just stood there as he looked like he was sweating to deaf from interrogation.
"Yeah Jeff, do tell us why you have our playbook." I said with my arms folded.
"He doesn't have to." Jessica said and we all turned to see her with Heidi as they were dragging a guy with long red hair in a ponytail wearing a black hoodie as Jane and Angela was with them. "We can ask this guy from Steilacoom High who we found on our side watching through the bleachers." She said as she held out a pair of binoculars and a walkie-talkie.
"He was spying on the team reading off every formation our team make after memorizing the playbook by heart. That way they will know how to stop our team from scoring and even bypass our defense." Heidi said as she gave her grip on the guy a little squeeze causing him to squeal like a pig.
"He did all of this while communicating with Jeff and the others through the walkie-talkie on what he sees giving them a quick chance to know how to anticipate our moves." Jane explained. "No doubt their helmets are wired to hear them out."
"And if you don't believe it, here's the proof." Angela said as she pulled out a tablet and showed a video of Jeff and the Bisons in the locker room to what appears to be happening before the game began.
"You guys remember what to do?" Jeff said in the video.
"You know it!"
"We're so going to win this!"
"You think we can pull it off?"
"No doubt about it. With this, we got this win the bag. And if Forks do figure it out, we'll just destroy the evidence before they go tattling to the refs. Soon, we will get to see Bella live at halftime at the championship." Jeff said gleefully as he and the team exited the locker room.
There was silence in our group after the video ended. Coach Jones was in shocked as he turned to Jeff angrily. The referees turned to each other and nodded their heads immediately. They handed Coach Clapp the playbook and then the head referee went over to announce the crowd as he turned on his microphone.
"There were some activity that had happened off the field, during the game, where Steilacoom High was spying on the other team's side, using devices to communicate and having possession of Forks High's playbook throughout the game." That there caused gasp of shock from Steilacoom crowd while Forks High was booing from the news. "Steilacoom High is disqualified, this game is over! Forks High will advance to the championship." Our school cheered along with my teammates, friends, and I as I smiled at how it all worked out.
We did it! Even though we didn't technically win, I did say we were going to the state championship and I made it happen. Time to go back and win the big prize. I can't wait to play there again. Can't wait to win. Can't wait for who we're up against. Can't wait for our school to see Bella perform at halftime. And I can't wait to see Bella again.
Well that was an interesting sort of events wasn't it? Haha
