Edward's POV
"Let's go, come on guys!" I said as I walked by my teammates on the sideline, high fiving them in encouragement. "Get ready to answer! Get ready to answer!" Everyone responded positively as I needed them to be. There's no time to panic. I watched as the Patriots punted the ball from their own forty yard line and sent the ball flying to our field as our punt returner Deejay Dallas caught it and ran it from the fifteen yard line and ran it for fifteen yards.
My team and I ran onto the field where the ball was placed as we huddled together for me to give out the play. After that, we broke into formation as I tried to block out the deafening crowd noise in Allegiant Stadium. This place was never as loud as Arrowhead or Lumen Field but when it comes to the Super Bowl, that's where the crowd comes in.
I looked at the scoreboard where it's the fourth quarter and the final quarter of this game with eight minutes left and we are down by three with the Patriots currently in the lead at 41 to 38 and each of us having two timeouts. This is now or never.
"Blue 27, ready, set hike!" I called out and got the ball in my hands when it was snapped perfectly. A blitz came out but I quickly threw the ball to my left where Tyler Locket caught it and got about five yards. The second play of the drive was unfortunate because I tried to throw the next pass to one of my tight ends, Colby Parkinson but due to a defender on him, he wasn't able to catch it bringing it third down. And we're not in midfield yet.
I was frustrated but took a deep breath as we got in the huddle and went over the next play before we got in formation again. This time, we connected as my number one wide receiver D.K. Metcalf got us the first down and close to midfield.
The next play when I got the ball however, I was pressured where I was able to scramble around and avoid the sack but had to throw the ball away gaining nothing. Second down and ten, I gave the ball to the rising rookie running back Kenneth Walker who got stopped right at the yard of scrimmage unfortunately making it third and long. And we can't afford to give the ball back and allow an opportunity to give the Patriots to extend the lead.
Once we got in formation again, I looked at where everyone is positioned. Both of my main wide receivers were on the left getting ready to run their routes, while some of my tight ends are on the other side with Wil Dissly getting ready to help the offensive line in giving me extra protection.
I took a deep breath as I gave out the call. "Blue 27, ready," I scanned the other side where the Patriots defense are, trying to read off what they'll do before I made the signal. "Set, hike!" I got the ball and looked around while movement was made. That's when I saw D.K. made his route and I took the chance.
"Cullen, with time… throws it and it's CAUGHT!" Yes! I thought as I heard the crowd roared in cheers seeing D.K. caught it down at the Patriots twenty-five before he was brought down. "By none other than D.K. Metcalf! He got the first down and more, putting the Seahawks in good field position."
"Nice route D.K.!" I said to him as we got in the huddle.
"Aye man, way to throw it deep. You made that possible." D.K. smiled to me.
"If anyone could go deep, it's you." I said and turned to my teammates. "Okay, let's keep it moving." I gave out the next play before we broke out of the huddle.
That play was a good one as Kenneth Walker made up for the earlier play and bust through to get us another first down making it first and goal. We tried to go again, but the defense wasn't having it and stopped Kenneth and made us lose two yards. That didn't matter since we still have time and a chance to score.
I looked around to see where everybody is positioned. The defense looked ready to go to either bring me pressure or try to block out my receivers. My teammates were waiting for me as I gave out a nod.
"Blue 27, ready, set hike!" I called out and movement was made as I got the ball. I looked around and with a split second decision, I took a chance and threw the ball in the endzone.
"Cullen, to the endzone… and it's CAUGHT… FOR THE TOUCHDOWN!" Cheers were erupted seeing Will caught the ball with the defender on him before they fell to the ground. "Will Dissly, the tight end!"
I ran up to him along with my teammates as we celebrate with Will for the touchdown before we left the field and Jason Myers kicked the extra point making it 45 to 41 with the Seahawks now taking the lead and four minutes left in the game.
"Atta boy Cullen!" Coach Pete Carrol exclaimed as I came over to him where he thumped my back. "Love that play!"
"You say that about every play we make whenever we scored a touchdown." I teased.
"You know what I mean." Pete waved off while smacking his gum he was chewing on. "Let's do it again when we get the ball back!"
"You can count on the defense!" I said as I sat down on the bench and assistant coach went over with me on what to do next.
Man, I can't believe this is happening. Even though we're at the end of this season, it's still unreal for me as a rookie quarterback, being the first ever rookie to lead a team to the Super Bowl in the NFL. How did this happen you ask? Well, it's a long story so I guess I'll start from the beginning.
Let's start with the story of what happened after NFL Draft. Remember when the Washington Commanders went with that quarterback Brock Purdy, over me with the first pick overall and everyone was questioning why since many have believed me to be a generational prospect heading into the draft, leading me to slide down almost out of the first round? Or why even Riley wasn't selected by them? Well, according to the Commanders' general manager, Tom Michaels, he apparently kept a close eye on both me and Riley. Tom notices about Riley's injury problems he's been having during college involving his shoulder which made him questionable for Tom. As for me, despite showing the talent, all the media attention along with my relationship with Bella however, made him believe me to be too cocky and he didn't think I'd be a good fit for the team and the coaches. That there, was an insult to me for his assumption. News flash, Deion Sanders, Randy Moss and Brett Farve were also cocky before being drafted and look how they turned out. Just take a chance on a guy for once. So yeah, Tom went with Brock Purdy because he considers Brock to be a safe pick and a very good person.
And everyone believed what Tom said… at first.
Jessica did her usual scooping to find out if there was more to it than that about what Tom said. And it's wild than what people expected once they know the real reason why me, Riley or any other quarterbacks were picked after Brock. Apparently, the real reason why Tom picked Brock over me was because he's been seeing Brock's divorced mother discreetly at the time. And although she didn't influenced him to do so, Tom just picked Brock because he thinks with his penis.
That there caused quite the outrage when the news leaked out because now all managers of an NFL team that were desperately in need of a quarterback were beating themselves up due to Tom's draft pick because they believed there was something wrong with me leading to why Tom didn't pick me in the draft and why they passed over me. They all reared his head over the phone for his sad excuse of picking Brock.
News really broke out like wild fired in the sports world as many people were upset, not just in the media and the Commanders fans who are mad that Tom chose someone they never even heard of over me, but even the team and the front office themselves as Tom went on to send the card of their draft pick without their knowledge and consent since they were supposed to do it together on their pick. The owner Dan Snyder actually stormed into the office ready to rip Tom's head, and maybe his dick I heard, off for going behind the organization's back for not picking the player they were supposed to get once he heard the new piece of information and was ready to fire him, but Tom tried to deny it all about Brock's mother being the reason why and begged everyone to give Brock a chance. It took a while for everyone to get over it, but they had to accept it since it was too late and there's no going back.
And boy do they wish they could go back and change it. Brock Purdy was nothing but a cancer to the Washington Commanders.
He ironically already set a record before the season even started for worse college record with .333 when being picked first overall. And Tom's comment of Brock being a "good person," well, Brock's friendly manner during the NFL Draft might have done a complete one-eighty as it seemed that being first overall might have inflated his ego. I heard he arrived in the facility of the Commanders, strolling in, holding a cold can of beer in his hand. The head coach, Ron Rivera and Dan Snyder were not too pleased with him as a first impression, especially with how Brock handles the media. So many interviews and introductions of himself where he was not at all humble and claims to have already own this team to lead. Everything he says was all just talk about how he claims to be the best.
"I'm obviously the best quarterback in the draft. Hell, than any quarterback."
"I'm number one overall for a reason."
"My goal is to win Super Bowls, going for more."
"I'm going to be the next Tom Brady, going for his record. Gonna win seven championships, maybe eight."
…
Yeah, the day he does that is when I see pigs fly. The media didn't really have to do much to share the news as Brock even went as far saying, "Edward who?" That pissed a lot of people off.
So Brock caused a lot of drama before the season even started. He held out on training camp during the summer because he wanted a big contract which really frustrated the office, even Brock's agent himself, until Brock signed a lucrative deal of eighty million dollars for six years plus fifty-five million dollars guaranteed. That's going to hurt the quarterback market value in the future. Brock continues on during the off-season and that involves headbutting with his teammates. Mostly he keeps putting down the other quarterbacks, including the other rookie quarterback that the Commanders drafted after Brock, as Brock makes it certain that he's the starter for the team as if he's running the ship. Well, I wouldn't say quarterbacks are in charge of a team if you get what I mean. Anyway,
As for his playing skills, well… I think Mike would've had a better shot and kind of played a lot better than Brock. Despite a terrible preseason performance, Brock was named the starting quarterback heading into the first week of the season and was even given status as captain of the team. And his first game on Monday Night Football, primetime television might I add, was one that was doomed from the start. Brock and the Commanders were at home facing the Philadelphia Eagles where Seth played and on Brock's first ever pass attempt, … it was intercepted and brought all the way to endzone for a pick six. Since then, he's been having a bad game where he took a whopping ten sacks, five of those by Seth, threw for only twenty yards with only four completed passes, threw six interceptions (most in a quarterback debut), another pick six, and fumbled the ball twice by Seth where one of them he recovered for a touchdown. Brock would even just make plays only to change his mind and do things that would end up in terrible results and seem to only throw to the team's number one receiver as he looks down on other receivers even though they were wide open. During the game, Brock goes off yelling at his teammates, blaming them for all the mistakes he made himself, even arguing with the coaches on the sideline as the Commanders would lose to the Eagles, 45 – 3 since the field goal was the Commanders' lonely score of the night.
Since then, Brock continues on with not only a terrible rookie season, but being one of the worse quarterbacks in history. He did set records, but not in an impressive way. He threw the most picks in a season with forty-five breaking Peyton Manning's record, most pick sixes in a season with ten, committed a total of ten safeties, and even broke the record for most sacked quarterback with eighty-one. His stats were worse as he only threw for about a hundred yards with a ten percent completion percentage, ran a few yards but fumbled the ball a few times, and most of all, didn't throw a single touchdown.
No matter how bad Brock Purdy was in the game however, Tom, still trying to keep up the façade that it wasn't his thoughts on Brock's mom that influenced him on the draft pick, was persistent on keeping Brock into the game which was why he told the coach not to bench him, not even deciding on the next game. So Brock played every game… and the team has not won a single one being not only the third team to go winless all season, but the first team to lose all seventeen games since the NFL extended the season to seventeen games instead of the usual sixteen. Because of his inconsistent performance, not taking the job seriously along with poor work ethics, and off the field incidents where it involves partying and sexually harassing a girl and such where he lost his status as captain during the season, Brock was immediately released by the Commanders after their season was over (even though he delusionally believed they were making the playoffs), becoming not only the first player being picked first overall to be cut by a team in one season, but to be the most infamous draft bust in NFL history. Not to mention the Commanders seem to have found a way out of Brock's contract to avoid paying him another three years and also filed against him to compensate. Oh and Tom was fired for his idiocy of his choice of a draft pick. His incompetence of his decision for selecting the quarterback gave him a bad reputation. So bad that when he tries to offer trades before the mid-season deadline to even give away his star players like wide receiver Terry McLaurin or defensive end Chase Young, other teams shot down his offer not wanting to fall for his actions as shown during the draft.
Everything that has happened to the Washington Commanders have put a lot of tension in the organization coming from all sports fans where Dan Snyder, who continues bringing in more scandals, was forced to sell the team to Josh Harris. Let's hope the team can do better and find a quarterback who does things right.
As for me, let's just say fate has it's reason for how things are.
Being drafted later than people expected brought a lot criticism to a lot of teams who passed on me, even on the Seahawks when they did picked me since they already have star quarterback Russell Wilson. General manager John Schnieder and head coach Pete Carrol handled the critics during the interview on why they drafted me, just saying that they like my talent and seeing potential even if it meant that I would have to start my career as a backup. I was totally cool with it. If I had to start things off before becoming a starter by sitting behind on the sidelines, I'm okay with it. I have all the time to learn. I mean Aaron Rogers did that with Green Bay and looked how he turned out. Even when I arrived during training camp, Russell was there and he welcomed me with open arms. From there, along with competing another quarterback for the position of being Russell's backup, Russell showed me the ropes, even giving me pointers about being a quarterback; how to throw better, deal with being under pressure and such. And I appreciated it since I wanted to learn everything it takes to be a quarterback for the team.
Adjusting to play in the NFL was a lot different than in high school and college. There was a lot to adapt because you're playing in the big leagues now. The preseason enough was something I experienced. Despite that, I managed just fine putting on a good performance that earned me a spot with the Seahawks. And I was fine spending the first few season being a backup for Russell until he retires or leaves the team.
Only… that wasn't the case.
Our first game was on opening kickoff night against our division rivals and defending Super Bowl champions who is none other than the team I hate, the Los Angeles Rams. I was getting annoyed with head coach Sean McVay's smirk and that defensive end Aaron Donald for nearly hurting Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow when the Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl and also that controversial call by the referees on the final play of the Rams where they were on fourth down and seven, they called a penalty on the Bengals for pass interference, which there was none at all even with video evidence. That there, led to a Rams field goal that won them the championship. So Rams are the defending champions and we had to host them on our field instead of the usual tradition for the champions to do it at their place and present the championship banner due to conflict of the schedule being the same time as the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team.
It didn't matter because the Rams pretty much owns us, even when we had home field advantage as evident to them when they came on the field during warmups and they came to the center of the field and stomp on our logo as if they're marking something which upsets our fans and us. During the first half, we were slaughtered as our offense couldn't do a thing with Aaron Donald up front, sacking Russell so many times. Not only that, Russell got five interceptions where two of them were pick sixes. Things only got uglier when our number one running back Rashaad penny was injured when one of the Rams player tackled him down, breaking his ACL in the process and our star linebacker Bobby Wagner suffered a shoulder pain when one of the players stomped on his chest unintentionally. And D.K. Metcalf was being manhandled by cornerback Jalen Ramsey who not only prevented any catches to D.K., but he goes under D.K.'s skin almost erupted in a brawl that would've gotten him ejected. Everything resulted in a score of 35 to 0 at the end of the first half.
Then when the second half started, first Russell was sacked again, or should I say tackled hard that sent him down to the ground, by one of the defense who got up and celebrated by gyrating his hips that should've been a penalty while Russell was slow to get up and since it was nearly close to contact right in their face. Then the next play, Aaron Donald not only sacked Russell again, but before that, he grabbed Russell by the middle and actually lifted him up and slammed him into the ground, thus injuring his throwing shoulder in the process. That caused our fans in outrage for Aaron hurting our star quarterback intentionally as they booed at him while Aaron just shrugged it off as if he doesn't see the problem, pissing me off even more. Oh, where were the referees you asked and why there wasn't any yellow flags on the Rams? Oh they saw it, they just didn't do jack shit! Of course they called penalties on both of teams throughout the game but it was mostly on the Seahawks. Some were fair such as holding or false start, but then stupid bullshit happens like we make big plays, but they took it back because of something we didn't even fucking do! Even Coach Carol tried to talk to the refs but they didn't listen and they didn't even makes calls when the Rams did something on us and let it slide completely ignoring it even though it was blatantly obvious. That there was the fucking straw!
So when Russell was taken to the locker room for evaluation, I had to be thrown into the game. I wasn't nervous about making my debut in a NFL game, but I am overwhelmed, and most of all, pissed at the Rams for the dirty plays, Coach McVay and his smug face and the referees for possibly bailing the Rams out. So I did what I always do when someone messes with the game I love, the start of the play, I threw my first pass right at the referee's nut sack causing him to fall to the ground. That there, freaked Coach Carol out because he had no other quarterbacks on the roster when I was about to get ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct with the officials, … only that I wasn't.
When the referee came at me and said I was going to be ejected, I just pointed out calmly how my family, Bella and Charlie included, are watching the game and so are many of Bella's famous friends who are talking about the game right now on social media, no doubt E News and other news medias will get a whiff of it. That's when one of the referees had a panicked look on his face and pulled the officiating crew aside and huddled together. Apparently, according to Jessica who looked in on it, that referee's niece is a Bella Swan fan and he feared she would not be pleased hearing how he made Bella unhappy by ruining her first NFL experience not making the right calls during the game. That's when they announced instead that they made the call from the previous plays, which caused more controversy since they can't just go back plays from way earlier, and gave the penalties on what happened to Russell to the Rams resulting a first down for us at midfield. And they gave multiple penalties on Aaron Donald for unnecessary roughness to the passer and celebrating when he was down and hurt, which counts as taunting, adding that he's been ejected from the game. That caused at outrage on the Rams' sideline not only by Coach McVay, but Aaron himself as he gotten so mad at the refs for the calls, that he let his temper get the best out of him. That's when he came at me like a raging bull to assault me, only I calmly stepped out of the way and he tackled a referee down instead. That caused more scuffle until Aaron had to be escorted out of the field as our fans were pleased to see the results. One of them even threw something at Aaron resulting in him coming at the fan, trying to climb up the stands only to be held back by security before he was taken to the locker room.
After that was cleared and was assured we have a clean game tonight since I'm not ejected and that pass I threw at the refs wouldn't count as an incomplete, well, it was a night I will certainly remember. Rams were a little overconfident thinking they have nothing to worry about just because I'm a rookie. Have we really learned nothing about not judging a book by it's cover? Well they didn't. Because with helped from another rookie running back Kenneth Walker and me given the new offensive left tackle Charles Cross a good pep talk to help the o-line protect me, I was able to respond big time against the Rams.
I threw for over five hundred passing yards, seven touchdowns that tied a league record where three of those were caught by D.K. who came around and torched Jalen's ass in every pass attempts, two for Tyler Lockett, one each for Will Dissly and a rookie undrafted wide receiver named Jake Bobo and I even scored a rushing touchdown while rushing for a hundred yards. Along with not getting sacked and making no interceptions and showing off my scrambling skills to avoid any hits. Our defense stepped up as well as they not only sacked the Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford ten times and picked him off three times, stopped the Rams' running game and tackled every wide receiver down whenever they caught the ball after sending star wide receiver Cooper Kupp to the tent for a concussion as they couldn't answer back against us.
With that, my team, the Seahawks outscored the Rams 56 to 35 in an outstanding comeback as not only I won my first game as a rookie, but I also became the first rookie quarterback to outscore the defending Super Bowl champion. That game, I was named Offensive Player of the Week.
The Rams were pretty much shocked after the game. Them, as defending champions loses to a rookie like me and pretty much got karma in their ass since they should've never go stomping on our team logo on the field. Head coach Sean McVay was none too pleased with how things played out and during a post-game interview, he called me out that I was just lucky and our next matchup won't be a fluke. That there earned him a fine from the league as he was criticized for it. That was the least of his and the team's worries though. Jessica found something very interesting while scoping through about the referees horrible play calling. Turns out, not only were the refs bribed by the Rams to rig the games that dates back since Sean McVay's second year as head coach, but Sean even placed a bounty on his defensive players to take out or even get under any opposing offensive players like Jalen taunting D.K. for example and they would get paid for it as bonuses.
Once that information was leaked anonymously by Jessica, the NFL went into an investigation on the Rams the next day and after much consideration for how the Rams have been cheating (I knew it! I fucking knew it!) with the refs' help including the Super Bowl run, not only were they fined 450,000 dollars along with Sean's $500,000 fine and were stripped off their first and second round pick for the next two seasons, but they were also forced to fork over their Super Bowl Lombardi trophy and championship rings along with the NFC Championship banner including the one back in 2018 and all players involved with the team during the time period were stripped out of their accolades of Pro Bowls, including Aaron Donald's three time Defensive Player of the Year awards where he was also not just fined, but suspended indefinitely. I do feel bad for those like Matthew Stafford, OBJ, and Von Miller who deserves a Super Bowl ring after so long and Von was just traded to the team and had no involvement last year. But it is what it is.
The referees were also under hot water for not only rigging the Ram's games but other games mostly for the Patriots, Steelers, Packers and Cowboys along with the Rams and others because they were making sure they win games due to being a higher market teams who won championships in the past or because of star players. That's in the past you guys. That, as well for all the questionable and controversial calls that was made is what got every crew to be suspended from the league this year and was fined where they will next year have someone on the sideline to monitor their actions about their officiating and any complaints the fans see such as pass interference should be reviewed and be accounted before moving on. So they were forced to sit on the couch as the league brought in new referees straight from college which was a huge mess of occupations from all football to fill in.
After that game, with Russell in the process of recovery of his shoulder, I was named the starter for the team and it started in going to New Orleans against the Saints where I was facing none other than their star quarterback Drew Brees. That was another memorable moment because before the game started, Drew got me out of the locker room and brought me out on the field where all of the Saints fans gave me a standing ovation for how I somehow not only beat the cheating Rams but exposed them for it. I was blown away from their support because you don't get something like this often. Although, we lost to the Saints that night, it was definitely a game to remember, and motivated me to do my best.
And the best is what I brought out.
Since then, I went on a hot streak playing my best and winning games. Every game I played, gets impressive by the second. My stats went flying through the roof as by the end of the regular season, not only did I broke several Seahawks records, but several NFL records by a quarterback as a rookie shattering other quarterback records. I threw for a total of 5,581 yards, with 56 passing touchdowns, rushed for 850 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns, only threw for 5 interceptions, a passer rating over 110 percent and a completion percentage of 70 percent, all leading the league. Everything earned me a Pro Bowl honor and All Pro. I helped the Seahawks bounce back after last season where we dominated the league. Even during the season when Russell was in the clear to return after healing, he himself and the coaches wanted me to continue being the starting quarterback where I was even given the status of being captain for this team. Something I didn't think I was gonna get yet since I was willing to wait to earn the locker room respect from my teammates, but they all supported me, having my back.
I was shocked but honored as I accepted the role and guided this team to success as the Seahawks ended up as a top five defense and offense where I made D.K. Metcalf have a spectacular season where he and I became the best duo as I threw him the ball for a record breaking 2,025 yards and 24 touchdowns earning him the award for Offensive Player of the Year. Our team where we won the division title of the NFC West was able to get the number two seed in our conference where we had a 14 – 3 record. Those losses were from the previous mention of the Saints, the Kansas City Chiefs where I fell short against the one and only Patrick Mahomes in an epic showdown, and the San Francisco 49ers in the final game of the season and that was only because after I scored a touchdown on the first drive, coach decided to bench me in order to rest to be ready for the playoffs and the win or loss wouldn't affect our standings. Our team's success is what earned Coach Carrol, Coach of the Year award. Every game we played, I was being praised by not just sports media and the fans, but players and coaches even former ones, well except for Sean McVay who really shows to despise me. Hey, he's the one who cheated his way and got caught. He was all talk but no action as we whooped his team's ass again when we met up in L.A. to face them and won 45 – 3 and Sean continues on being a crybaby about it.
He wasn't the only crybaby. On the Seahawks game against the Commanders where I was actually facing Brock Purdy himself, there was a lot of drama on Monday Night Football. Before the game, Brock took it upon himself, being completely oblivious knowing she's my wife, to ask Bella out when she was on the field during our pre-game warmup and before I could react, my teammates were already there getting him to back off that almost led to a scuffle. The refs broke it up but we made sure Brock gets what's coming him, especially when we whooped his ass and team during the game, 78 – 0. There, Brock was having a huge fit with his temper tantrum. Not only being a bad teammate, yelling at his team for his mistakes but for that one play where he got sacked and fumbled the ball where it was recovered by us and Brock claimed he had the ball afterwards even though there's video review that after we recovered the ball, Brock yanked it back in his hands even though the play was over. Brock's tantrum is what caused him to be ejected from the game but he seems to refused when he was about to be escorted back to the locker room, he turned back and ran to try and get back on the field only to be held back by the coaches and staff. That's what caused Brock to be fined.
So yeah, I'm not bragging but I've been doing good in my first year in the NFL, but I'm not the only one. The guys are doing great as well.
Ben, being on the Lions has helped rejuvenate the running game which was what the Lions have struggled for decades since Barry Sanders sudden retirement. And with other running backs to compliment him, the Lions have the best rushing offense with Ben leading the team as the number one running back. It wasn't just for breaking the rookie record as a running back rushing for 1,825 yards and scoring 20 rushing touchdowns that made Ben breakout, it was his playstyle he makes every game, especially in his first game against the Green Bay Packers where he was given the ball at the Lions own one yard line and he brought it all the way to the end zone, breaking tackles along the way along with a huddle and a stiff arm to some players while still on his feet causing his fans to erupt loudly causing the noise to be louder than the sound system of a train whenever they score a touchdown. He was able to help the Lions make a huge improvement with a 10 – 7 record earning second place in their division while earning a spot in the playoffs. He has also earned Pro Bowl and All Pro honors.
Seth stood out as not just being the best linebacker in our draft class, but the best defensive player. As mentioned before of his performance making Brock Purdy and the Commanders looking bad, Seth was named Defensive Player of the Week. He became the focal point of the Eagles defense ranking them in the top five in sacks, tackles, least yards allowed and causing turnovers. He even took down tough players like George Kittle and other tight ends making big plays to stop any opposing offense. He was pretty much a one man wrecking machine leading the team in tackles and sacks as he helped his team win the NFC East title with an 11 – 6 record. Seth finished the season breaking records as a rookie leading the league in tackles with 140, while making 16 sacks, two of which made a safety, 4 interceptions and scoring 2 defensive touchdowns that not only earned him Pro Bowl and All Pro Honors but also earned him the award for Rookie Defensive Player of The Year.
Alec immediately became a key factor in the Saints offense to compliment Drew Brees with their best running back and group of wide receivers. He was the team's leading scorer breaking the rookie record by a tight end with 13 touchdowns while breaking the record for most receiving yards by a tight end with 1,089 as he was pretty much Drew's favorite target in the end zone. He really brought out his dancing celebration after he made a big play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being clutch when he caught a pass by Drew and brought it down close to the end zone while breaking tackles, hurdling over a player and stiff arming one down before he was stopped. Already he is considered a top five tight end compared to Travis Kelce and George Kittle as he was given Pro Bowl and All Pro as well while helping them earn a spot in the playoffs with an 11 – 6 record.
Demetri had a huge breakout season as he was making catches despite the 49ers going through different quarterbacks. He made media attention with that one play against the Dallas Cowboys where he caught a pass with not only just one hand, but he caught it over his shoulder while he was able to tip toe at the endzone with two cornerbacks on him just inches to make it look like he caught it out of bounds. Even with different quarterbacks, Demetri became the team's number one receiver as he went up against many cornerbacks and still making big plays even against the tough ones. He even got some fun torching Jalen Ramsey's ass and giving him a taste of his own medicine. Demetri ended the season breaking records as rookie wide receiver in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns with a 110 receptions for 1,624 yards and 18 touchdowns earning him Pro Bowl and All Pro honors. Despite the success with his team especially acquiring star running back Christian McCaffrey, the 49ers failed to make the playoffs due to losing their quarterbacks to injuries and the Rams snuck their way into the last spot of the playoffs despite starting off on a five game losing streak and being swept by my Seahawks and the 49ers.
Riley has also been doing good with the Patriots as their quarterback. It was during their first game against the Miami Dolphins where their quarterback Mac Jones was having a terrible performance and was benched, putting Riley into the game and helped them win. Since then, there was a lot of talk about who's really going to be the starting quarterback for the Patriots as their coach named Riley the starter as he's been doing just as good as I am. Though Riley got his team into the playoffs, they didn't win their division title since the Buffalo Bills won it. It didn't matter because it looks like the Patriots have found their replacement for Tom Brady and many fans are believing their dynasty is back. Riley and I did met up earlier in the regular season on Sunday Night Football in a game every one was excited about seeing two rising star quarterbacks taking the league, continuing our rivalry where I won in one of the best games people have seen as the score was 59 – 55. Regardless of how things are for the Patriots, Riley was able to get his team through the playoffs upsetting many top seeded teams such as the Bengals, Chiefs and their divisional rival Bills.
Although Seth, Alec and Ben's teams lost in the playoffs, my nickname of Slayward carried on throughout from childhood, to high school, to college and now the NFL as my performance in the playoffs capitalized my trademark. Coming into the Wild Card round, we hosted the Rams for the third time this year and this time, we obliterated them 63 – 0, as Sean McVay was throwing a fit that we humiliated his team again with us being the third team to sweep a team three times in a season. Then, in the Divisional Round, we hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where I was against none other than Tom Brady. During pregame warmup, Tom went up to me to not only wish me luck, he said to me how he's been seeing my gameplays since high school and have been a fan of me as he is honored to have a chance to go against me. As for the game itself, it was a real battle as he and I were scoring back and forth until the last second touchdown and my defense sealing the game ended it 42 – 40. After the game, Tom told me to meet him and his family after changing and to bring Bella along since his kids are becoming big fans of ours. During that, Tom gave me pointers about being a celebrity quarterback especially dating a super model like his wife and handling the fame before he told me himself before announcing to the media that he's retiring. Then later on at the NFC Championship, we went to Green Bay to go against the top seeded Packers led by reining league MVP Aaron Rodgers. It was a tough battle as we were getting beat in the first half 23 – 0. However, the fourth quarter was what really mattered as I rallied my team a come from behind comeback with three touchdowns and got us in position close to field goal range to end the game sending us to the Super Bowl.
Not only did I became the first rookie quarterback to ever lead a team to a Super Bowl, but I became the first player to beat the defending Super Bowl champions, Tom Brady who is a seven Super Bowl champ, and Aaron Rodgers, a four time league MVP hence the Slayward trademark officially became established. All of it which got me the award for Offensive Rookie of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors. You would think everything I did all season would also earned me the award for league MVP. Except they gave to Aaron Rodgers which caused a lot of outrage since my stats were far better than Aaron, but I guess they only see that since I sat out that last game of the regular season and Aaron was able to bring his team as a number one seed with good numbers is enough to give that award.
…
Yeah, look at my stats and then Aaron's and then tell me who really deserves it since as evidence how Aaron choked in our matchup.
Edward's stats:
5,581 passing yards
56 passing touchdowns
5 interceptions
Aaron's stats:
3,731 passing yards
29 passing touchdowns
18 interceptions
Faceoff in the playoffs:
Edward:
254 passing yards
3 touchdowns
2 interceptions
Aaron:
182 passing yards
1 touchdown
3 interceptions
Honestly, it didn't matter to me, even though a lot of people expressed their outrage booing at Aaron when he accepted the award and tried his best to keep it cool when giving his speech. What matters is that I am actually achieving my dream in playing in the NFL, but more than that as I am hoping to lead my childhood team into winning their second Super Bowl championship.
Looking back how far I've come, I think about the others besides the guys with their success on their teams. Angela became a well known photographer as she does vlogs with photos of her travels being married to Ben as she goes with him on games around the United States and experiences all the places and foods. She has her own website and became a social media influencer for her photography skills. Jane is currently in law school but she is working with Jessica part time on making advertisements as Jessica is developing her own media company Another Bite as she gives out breaking news, investigations, reviews, etc. on sports, music and other topics that goes on around the world. Already, she's got a certain amount of followers. As for Heidi herself, she's posting videos on YouTube making cover songs while she writes songs for artists after Bella gave some recommendations to them and already for Olivia Rodrigo's new single became a big hit.
As for the others such as my family, my father still works at the hospital helping those in need of help as he regained the respect and loyalty of his staff after they turned on him because of Laurent's false article only for them to fuck up and try to make things right. Mom still takes care of Renesmee while also seems to help out on her cheerleading squad, helping them out on fundraisers and providing all the food and drinks during events. She does that for me during the college days. Charlie has taken some time off acting as he focuses more on directing. He recently won the award an Emmy award for his lead role in Blockbuster. Though he has been working the Hollywood life in L.A., he made himself at home in Seattle living with Sue while being a few miles away from my house with Bella's. Tanya is still in school while gaining media attention since the whole Laurent scandal and now that people see that Tanya isn't some side chick of mine, she's been gaining a massive following due to her looks as she's studying on finances. Bella has graduated from college and took a little break from her music while she's still acting. Apart from movies she's under contract with, Bella worked behind camera on some shows to understand directing and producing a show. Even so, she makes time coming to my games. Renee came back in the spotlight since she went awol from Hollywood life. And because of her actions, people were a bit critical on her making a return, but Renee kept her head up and focused on redeeming herself as she took small roles in movies and showing she's a different person. Hollywood life changed Renee in a big way and she's hoping to overcome what she's facing.
Speaking of Hollywood life, all of Bella's friends are doing fine with their careers. Alice has done more voice acting than she does on stage and really seems to enjoy it while she also participates in making designs and outfits for many celebrities especially for Bella and I. I swear that girl has unlimited ideas in her little head. Jasper has done acting in a whole new way. Besides taking part in action that involves war or gun violence, he earned roles in actions and combat movies, roles that looks so intense that Jasper makes it so easy. Guess having a military family gave him a good background. Victoria goes on with more acting while doing some photoshoots. Most scenes in acting and in her magazines… I had to cover my eyes when it was not rated PG. I mean, I'll take the flirting from her but this is too much. Jacob still acts as he still has a contract to film for To All The Boys series and he was able to land a few more lead roles that earned the hearts of his many teen fans. He was even named People's Magazine Sexiest Man Alive. Emmett took a break from acting since Rosalie gave birth to their daughter Lilly who is now eight months old so he stays home to be there for his family and taking care of their kid. Rosalie herself, before she got pregnant, she has been doing acting but away from huge roles since she wants to be away from the spotlight since the Twitter controversy that cost her dream being on Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Though she regained the love from the media and fans, Rosalie wasn't able to recover on how her dreams were taken away by her own actions… all due to how it involved me. Though I had nothing to do with it, I was the source that linked into her life and because of it, I felt bad for what happened to her. That's when fate seem to have it's way to have me find a way.
Flashback
End of July after Bella and Edward's Wedding
"Almost there, you guys are doing great." Esme said as Seth was helping me move this furniture into the living room.
"Thanks for listing my spirits, mom. Try lifting the box." I muttered while straining how fucking heavy this is.
"What was that, sweetheart?"
"Nothing." I said quickly.
"Hurry up, my fingers are cramping up." Seth cried. How about worry about your muscles like I am? I thought.
"Just set it down and you two can push your way towards the room." Esme instructed and Seth and I did that, finally giving our arms a little break as we easy pushed the box until we found a place.
"Does she really need all this?" Ben asked as he, Alec and Demetri came in carrying boxes with labels on.
"This was all her belongings plus new furniture she ordered for this place." Esme said.
"And yet she couldn't have hired her own movers for it?" Demetri complained as they set those boxes down while panting like the rest of us. "Seriously, what the hell did she packed? Rocks?" He asked as he opened the box and had a baffled look when he pulled out a pair of shoes. Why am I not surprised.
Esme just sighed. "Look, she's been through a lot. This hasn't been easy for her." She said.
"What's going on?" Alec asked.
"Oh, nothing really that dramatic." We all turned to see the long curly platinum blonde woman Veronica coming. She's apparently a businesswoman who is a sister one of mom's friends. My mom asked for me and my friends help into helping her move in to her new home close to her family. She just rebranded the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show after it went on a hiatus for two years due to the founder was forced into resigning after he came under public fire so now she's organizing the event.
"Nothing dramatic that requires you to pack shoes for one day of the year?" Demetri asked sarcastically while holding up a pair of shoes earning a smack in the head by me. "OW!"
Veronica just shrugged. "I have to clean out everything. I'll sort it out tonight and then maybe give it to charity." She said.
"Well, we're happy to help you out Veronica." I said. "And welcome to Washington. It may not be like California but the weather is decent enough in Seattle."
"Thank you Edward." Veronica smiled. "You're truly a gentleman as everyone says."
"Show off." I heard Demetri say causing me to flip him off behind my back so my mom doesn't see it.
"Just give me a call if you need this place for a little modification and I can make a few calls with connections I still have with my sister." Esme said to Veronica.
"I'll do just that." Veronica said. "It's just going to take me awhile to adjust to this place."
"If you don't mind me asking, what made you want to come here." I asked.
Veronica sighed. "My ex-husband." She answered.
"I think I know where this going know." Demetri said.
"Oh do you?" Alec commented to Demetri.
"That bad of a divorce?" Seth asked Veronica.
"There are a lot reasons for a divorce apart from the love is gone. That wasn't the reason why though. I went through Kenji's credit card statements and tracked down to find that he's been having an affair with another woman, a woman who clearly dragged him down with drug charges and now both are in prison." Veronica explained causing the guys and I to be shocked.
"I'm sorry about what happened, but I'm not sorry about him." I admitted. I mean, you get those types of guys such as Veronica's ex-husband. A grade-A asshole. Bella and I have only been married about a month and we're doing fine so far. Even so, I know better than cheating on her.
"Edward." Esme scolded me softly.
"What? You're saying he didn't deserve it?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"It's okay, Esme. He's not wrong." Veronica chuckled. "I'm not upset about the divorce. The love between us flamed out a long time ago. I'm just more worried about my nephew, Nathan." She sighed.
"What's wrong with him?" Alec asked.
"Nathan is a fond of Kenji. He's only eight but he loves my ex so much that he looks up to him." Veronica said.
"I take that you guys haven't told Nathan why your ex is in jail." Seth said.
"No," Veronica sighed. "He's always asking and it's stressful for my sister, and me. But what's sad is that… Nathan… isn't really a fond of me like he is to Kenji. I try to always to do things to bond with my nephew, but he doesn't seem that interested. He never really wants to talk to me or anything, or even share things like he has big news. He just likes Kenji more than me, and I'm his aunt by blood." She sighed again. "I'm just worried about the kind of guy he'll grow up to be. I don't want him to be like Kenji." She said sadly.
"Oh Veronica." Esme said as she came over to comfort Veronica with a hug.
"I'm fine." Veronica said as she wiped her eyes quickly. "I'm pretty used to how Nathan behaves. Besides, he and Natalie will be here to come see me soon."
"Why don't you go freshen up before they get here? We'll unload some boxes and make sure the place looks good while you get ready." Esme said.
"Oh come on!" Demetri groaned. "More lifting?"
"Yeah, my arms are sore now." Seth said.
"Pizza's on me whichever toppings you like." Esme said, looking at her phone.
"Let's get the bed ready!" Seth said immediately as Demetri's expression changed.
"Ben, you're coming with us!" He said, grabbing Ben's arm.
"Wait, what?" Ben said in confusion when Demetri dragged him upstairs before he could argue as Seth followed them.
"Are you and I the only ones who doesn't think with our stomachs?" I asked Alec with a chuckle.
"Hey, I'm dealing with the guy who's dating my sister. Explain how we keep up with his stomach on our family reunions?" Alec said.
"He's also my step brother-in-law." I pointed out causing Alec to shrug as we decided to get some of the sofas and tables ready before Veronica's sister and her son come over.
An hour later of unpacking, Veronica told us that her sister and son is on their way. While mom was ordering pizza, I excuse myself to the bathroom for a piss. After I was done and washed my hands, I just got out of the bathroom when I heard voices.
"The place looks great. You just need some décor to compliment it."
"Thanks sis. But Esme here, was the one who hooked me with the place and her son and friends were the ones did the work though." I heard Veronica said. Guess her sister and nephew are here.
"Nice to know you got great helpers of fine young men, Esme." The voice that must be Natalie say as I looked from the corner and peeked to see Veronica and my mom with a woman who must be Veronica's sister, and right next to her was a little boy who must be Nathan.
"I do, but they are quite the handful." Esme teased causing me to roll my eyes. Really mother?
"Hey Nathan." Natalie greeted him.
"Hi auntie." Nathan greeted, but not much enthusiasm shown. Oh boy, this will be awkward. I thought.
My mom must have thought so to when she said, "Well I ordered pizza. I have all kinds of toppings you might like, Nathan." She said to him.
"Okay." Nathan said, not bothering to look at my mom.
I decided I had enough eavesdropping and just came out of my corner. "Hey guys," I said getting the women's attention. "Mom, where's Alec?"
"Oh I think he's letting the boys know that the pizza is on it's way." Esme said as I nodded my head in understanding.
"Um Edward, I'd like you to meet my sister, Natalie and my nephew, Nathan." Veronica introduced me to them.
"Hello Edward, nice to meet you." Natalie smiled to me. Before I could say anything, a big gasp broke out.
"No way!" I looked to see it coming from Nathan who had a shocked expression on his face. "Edward Cullen?!" He exclaimed.
I was surprised and taken aback as he rushed over to me and then his face burst into happiness.
"Oh my god it is you!" He said excitedly. "I've seen you play with the Huskies! I watched every game and saw you win the championship! You're my favorite player of all time!"
"Oh wow, thanks Nathan. It's an honor to meet you." I said to him with a smile as I felt flattered that I already have a fan and the NFL season hasn't even started yet. I looked to see Veronica with the others as they have the same surprised look as me seeing Nathan's reaction.
"I'm so excited to you play this year, especially you get to play with the Seahawks! That's so cool! I want to be a quarterback like you one day when I grow up!" Nathan said happily.
"I like it, man. Follow your dreams, and work hard and maybe one day, you might get to be in the NFL as well." I said.
Nathan then turned to Veronica. "You didn't tell me Edward Cullen was here!"
Veronica was certainly surprised, probably from seeing Nathan's reaction to seeing me and knowing who I am apart from being Bella's husband. "Oh well, you see –"
"Your aunt wanted to surprise you." I answered causing Nathan to turn me while the women were surprised as I gave Veronica a wink. "She told me you were a big fan and I wanted to meet you. So your aunt here has given me the chance while I help her with the moving. You have a great aunt, Nathan. I wouldn't be able to meet my fan if it weren't for her, so you should thank her." I said to Nathan with a smile.
At that moment, Nathan quickly dash towards where the women and threw his arms around Veronica.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you so much auntie! You're the best aunt ever!" He said.
"Uh-You're welcome." Veronica responded as she accepted the hug and looked completely speechless. That's when I saw her fighting back some tears as she smiled.
I heard footsteps and I turned to see the guys appeared as they stopped when they saw what was going on, becoming confused. I quickly went over to them and whispered, explaining what was going on and they all nodded their heads in understanding.
"Hey man, wanna play some ball while we wait for the pizza arrive?" Demetri called out causing Nathan to let go of Veronica as he was shocked to see my friends here.
"Can I, mom?" Nathan asked.
"Sure, but be careful." Natalie smiled causing Nathan to be excited.
"Race ya!" Ben said as he ran out the door with Demetri and Ben behind him as Nathan got all excited as he followed them with Alec in pursuit.
"Well isn't that sweet." My mom chuckled as she looked me with a smile on her face. "Natalie, why don't you help me get some of the plates and drinks ready?" She asked Natalie as she accepted it and looked at me before patting her sister's back before she and my mom left leaving me and Veronica alone.
"Hey, you okay?" I asked as I came over to Veronica. I hope I wasn't stepping out of bounds lying about my presence to make Nathan love her and hopefully forget about his douche of an uncle.
"I… I just don't know what to say." Veronia said tearfully. "I can't believe you would go all that way just to get Nathan to like me."
"Nathan should acknowledge how great of an aunt your trying to be. And he deserves to have someone to be a good role model to him." I said. I mean, I'll be meeting kids who will one day see what I can do as a quarterback and want to become great athletes like me one day so I want to be there for them when I can.
"Thank you so much, Edward!" Veronica said as she hugged me causing me to return one for her. "You're truly amazing."
"It was nothing, really." I said.
"No, no!" Veronica said when she let go. "You don't know how much this meant to me seeing Nathan even calling his favorite aunt. I'm forever grateful for what you've done. I'm in your debt. Really. Whatever you need, just let me know and I'll do what I can. I owe you for this."
"Oh thanks, but that won't be necessary." I said even though I appreciated the offer. "I don't think there is anything in particular I would want – " I stopped myself when suddenly a thought came to me. "Actually, there is one thing you could do for me."
"Anything." Veronica beamed.
"Aren't you in charge of organizing the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show?" I asked.
Veronica chuckled. "Oh Edward, as much as I would like to see you in our show, I don't think you're the… type. No offense."
"No, no, not for me." I laughed. "It's one of my wife's friend. She was supposed to be on your guys' show a few years ago, but you guys removed her from the set and banned her from the show even as an audience member, blacklisting her basically."
"Who's that?" Veronica asked in confusion.
"Rosalie Hale."
"Oh… her." Veronica said as she looked a bit uncertain.
"Look," I said firmly. "I get you guys have your reasons why you don't want her to participate in your show with what she has done over the internet, but you have to understand that Rosalie never intentionally tried to do anything to cause trouble. She was a victim like everyone else believing Laurent when he published that stupid article saying I cheated on Bella. Besides, Rosalie was only looking out for Bella as a friend. I know she could've made smarter decision when it comes to the internet, but hey, don't we all take the wrong way to settle things such as looking out for someone?
At least, give her a chance. I think four years is long enough to be banned. She's a good person and she means well."
Since Rosalie's action that caused her to never be allowed on the fashion show, it haunts me to this day, because I'm the reason why she doesn't get to live her dream. She did nothing wrong other than looking out for Bella when she thought I really was cheating on Bella before the truth came out. Every time the show was broadcast, Rosalie would watch with a sad look on her face, hurt that her dreams were taken away. And I wanted to make it right somehow.
Veronica took a moment to consider what I said. Finally she took a breath and said, "Well to tell you the truth, I knew back then Rosalie wasn't intentionally trying to cause trouble on the media. But you know how the previous organizer in charge of the fashion show was with the mistreatment and everything. He pretty much wants to keep a good reputation for the show until his true colors came out. That's why he blacklisted her from coming to the show."
"So…" I trailed off in a way to see if Veronica would consider this offer.
"I can't make any promises, but I'll see what I can do." Veronica said. "We may have some models lined up, but you never know what could happen."
"That's all I ask. Thank you." I said in appreciation.
"Anything for you, Edward." Veronica smiled.
"Well speaking of promises, I promised a game with your nephew." I said and excused myself, heading outside where everyone else is at.
End of Flashback
Veronica actually did made her promise a few weeks later. To say Rosalie was shocked is a complete understatement. She was pretty much forever grateful that I would go out of my way to help Rosalie get the dream she deserves to live. I was able to come with everyone to see her show as she did a great job modeling on stage. As for Veronica's nephew, Nathan, I was able to score him and his family season tickets to which he was ecstatic about and got him the chance to come to the Super Bowl where we are now.
I was interrupted reliving the moment when the cheers erupted and I looked at the field to see Riley running up to one of his teammates in the endzone causing me to look up on the scoreboard to see the Patriots back on top… with only a minute and thirty seconds left. Shit!
I got up and put my helmet on, did a quick warmup throwing the football just as the Patriots scored the extra point to make it 48 – 45 with the Seahawks now trailing behind the Patriots. Once the ball was kicked to us and our returner tried to gain some yardage, my teammates and I went up to the field as the crowd noises continues to get louder.
"Final quarter with a minute and twenty-five seconds on the clock as the curtain has come up tonight. It all comes down to Cullen as the Seahawks have a chance to turn things around. It's first down at the Seahawks own ten yard line with one timeout left. Can they manage what they have to either score a touchdown to win the game, or tie it with a field goal to send this game into overtime?"
"Alright, Arcfire," I read off the play to teammates in the hurdle. "I need a spread out route before a return towards the middle. Break!"
I got up as we all went in formation with me behind the offensive line waiting for the ball to be snapped as the Patriots defense were looking ready.
"Blue 27, ready, set hike!" The ball was snapped and perfectly in my hands as movement was made. I looked around as the receivers did what they were told and followed their routes. Although the defense seem to have picked it up as they were trying to cover them. I took a chance with Bobo, however, with a defensive player behind him and another coming to his front, the ball was bounced off of his hands and thankfully, the ball fell to the ground before it got picked off ruling incomplete making it second down and ten.
I took a deep breath and brush it off as we lined up again. I got the ball after the snap and backed up a bit close to our own endzone when a blitz came and threw the ball big time before I hit.
"Second down and it's A DIVING CATCH BY METCALF!" The crowd was cheering as I saw D.K. dove for the ball and caught it before he was down at our own thirty giving us a fresh set of downs.
We quickly got in formation with the clock still running but we were able to use it wisely after Jake Bobo caught a five yarder before going out of bounds and stopping the clock with a minute and ten seconds left. And with help from the offensive line, I gave the ball to Kenneth Walker and he ran the ball to give us another first down and more, getting us closer to midfield. The next play, I made a scramble to avoid the sack but was able to get us at midfield with under a minute left, although we had to use our final timeout to try and save time as much as we can.
However the next two drives, ended up incomplete with each pass I tried to make to my receivers as from either being defended or I had too much pressure for time bringing us at third down. Looking at the clock, we got forty-five seconds left. If we don't make this one, it's do or die if we have to go for it on fourth down.
"Blue 27, ready," I looked to see if I could get the defense to jump for a false start, but they wouldn't budge so I have to call it now before the play clock hits zero. "Set hike!"
I got the ball and looked around as everyone was running around while I was given time before I saw D.K. going far with the cornerback coming behind him and without thinking, I took a shot.
"Cullen goes deep downfield, and he's… got it!" Yes! I thought as there were cheers around seeing D.K. caught the ball just before he was down inbounds. "First down at the Patriots' twenty-five, with thirty seconds left and the clock is still ticking."
"Come on, hustle, hustle! Get in formation!" I yelled as we rushed over to where the referee quickly spotted the ball at the line it was caught and we lined up, no need for a huddle.
I tried to throw the ball to D.K. again but since he was being covered and I barely had time, I threw the ball away, stopping the clock with ten seconds left on the clock.
"It's second down and ten at the Patriots' twenty-five. What are they going to do? Will they try and score, or tie the game?"
"Yo man, you good?" D.K. asked me.
"Yeah, don't worry." I said and looked at everyone in our huddle. "We got this. Let's finish this game!" I gave out the play and broke the huddle as we lined up just as the crowd was roaring.
I took a deep breath, closing my eyes for a moment. Everything I've worked for, it all comes down to this. It's now or never.
"Alright, blue 27, ready, set hike!" The ball was snapped and into my heads as everyone took off towards the endzone. A blitz happened coming towards me, just as I got ready and threw the ball where Tyler Locket is, with a defender behind him where they just arrived at the endzone.
"Cullen… endzone… it is CAUGHT! TOUCHDOWN SEATTLE!" Tyler was down just when he caught the ball right into the endzone as the crowd erupted loudly. And according to the referee who witnessed it, it is good… just as the clock hit zero!
"YES!" I exclaimed as my teammates and I ran towards Tyler celebrating with him on the touchdown.
Just as we hugged Tyler, my teammates then turned to me and started hugging me like mad, even those who ran from the sideline and piled on top of me. That's what really hit me. We won. We won the Super Bowl. I'm a Super Bowl Champion! My dream, our dream, the city of Seattle's dream has come true!
As soon as I disentangled myself from the hugs, I was wiping the tears from my eyes as I took a moment around me on the field just as blue and green confetti was falling. I just can't believe it. It was crazy how different the experience was from what I'd dreamed initially as a kid. And now, here I am, my first year in the NFL and now a Super Bowl champion. This is just unreal.
It was a mass chaos for several minutes after I shook hands with some of the Patriots players and their head coach Bill Belichick and finally Riley, I was with reporters crowding around, asking me how it felt to be a champion, being only a rookie quarterback and the first to have done so. After a few more rounds of questions, I saw my friends and family that came here and was given an opening from the staff to make room and I took my chance coming towards them. First was Demetri who happily jumped on me before the other guys piled on me for a hug. Then Jane and the girls got their turn each. My mom came and hugged me with a kiss, saying how proud she is of me. Dad was too as he held me for a moment from our hug.
Renesmee was next as I scooped her up and twirled around while she laughed before hugging her. Emmett being Emmett carried me around before setting me down as Jacob and Jasper gave their congratulations as well before Alice, Rosalie and Victoria were hugging me. Renee didn't want to make things awkward for herself which was why she wasn't able to come but Charlie was there and gave me a hug, and then finally, I saw her, decked in Seahawks clothing as she jumped into my arms as I caught her, her legs wrapped around me.
"You did it!" Bella said happily as we kissed while I was still holding her. "Congratulations! I'm so proud of you!"
"Wouldn't have made it without your support." I said to her.
"Always! You've earned this, champ." Bella smiled as we shared another kiss. After being congratulated by everyone, I was told it was time for the Lombardi trophy to arrive and be presented so I had to meet with my team on the stage that was built for the winner.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the two time Super Bowl Champion with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos, five time league MVP, and 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrine, Peyton Manning, and the Vince Lombardi trophy."
The music was played as we saw the great Peyton Manning himself making his way with the Lombardi trophy is his hands as he makes his way up on stage.
Oh fuck! I thought as my teammates were reaching out to feel the trophy as Peyton walks by, basking the moment. As it came my way, I reached over and felt it. Even though it was only for a few seconds, it was the greatest feeling ever. It felt like everything I wanted was all here and it's true. I won a Super Bowl with my team, and my friends and family who are here for me. This is the best feeling of it all.
After Peyton handed the trophy to the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on stage, I saw he was already with Seahawks owner Jody Allen, the general manager John Schnieder and Coach Carrol.
"Let me first give a big shoutout to Las Vegas for a spectacular week here on Super Bowl so thank you." Roger said as everyone cheered. "To coach Carrol and his team, what a year they had to win another Super Bowl for the city of Seattle. Jody, a lot of things have changed since taking over for your brother after his passing, and I'm here to say you're continuing on what he has done and gave the 12th men what they wanted. Congratulations, world champions!"
Everyone cheered as Jody accepted the trophy and hoisted it in the air just as Michael Strahan came over and interviewed her.
"Jody, what has this moment mean for you to bring Seattle another Super Bowl?" He asked her.
"There are lots of words to describe it and I believe it's everything. That's what it means to the 12s, to Seattle, to all of us." Jody answered. "And it certainly meant the world to Paul if he was here right now, happy to see us continuing the success this team has brought for the city he loves. For us to win the Super Bowl, it wasn't just for the fans, but for my brother as well. So here's to Paul!" She finished earning a mass of applause coming from everyone around her.
"Alright, let's bring Coach Carrol up here, give him that trophy!" Michael smiled as Pete was ushered forward where he was handed over the trophy where he held it up with one hand earning cheers from the fans. "Alright coach, what have you got to say about this team? Because earlier at the beginning of the season when your star quarterback was down and had to rely on the new guy, many have believed it was already over from the start for this team, and yet here you all are, in Vegas, not only here at the Super Bowl, but to win it as well and earning yourself your second Super Bowl ring. How proud are you about it?"
"Well nothing changes physically about this team, you can't break our spirits. We remained positive all year and focus on what's coming to us, never going backwards." Pete answered. "I'm so proud of these guys, being with this team for over ten years and how John was able to put this team together. These guys here, wouldn't just sit and being kick around, letting it slide, they fought back and earned this moment to get here."
"Okay Pete, you wanna bring the man himself up here?" Michael asked.
"Hell yeah, I'm ready to give this trophy for him to hold." Pete smiled.
"Well let's bring up your quarterback, the MVP of this Super Bowl, Edward Cullen! Bring him up here!" Michael announced causing me to be stunned.
Wait… what?! Fuck… no way. I thought as I was floored with emotions as I hear cheers from my teammates who were ushering me to get up there while hearing the loudest cheers from the crowd. I wiped away the tears as I made my way up on stage where Coach Carrol met with me first.
"Congratulations man, you've earned this!" Coach Carrol beamed as he handed me the trophy. I wasn't able to respond so I nodded my head as coach patted my back before he brought me over to Michael to face the whole crowd. Wow.
"Slayward! What a way for you to start off your NFL career huh?" Michael smiled as he grasped my shoulder.
"Ah man, I'm just mind blown right now. I just… I just still can't get over the fact that we're now world champions." I was finally able to say while looking at the Lombardi trophy in my hands.
"Well you really showed everyone what they were missing since you went down at the draft last year until the Seahawks took you in and then you took over as the starter when Russell was down. And even then when he was ready, they wanted you to continue on as the starter. How do you feel going through all that?" Michael asked.
"You know all I can say is that I'm grateful for this team for taking a chance on me." I said. "It didn't matter if I was starting right away or be a backup for a few years, I wouldn't be here if it weren't for their support and believing in me. We truly have the best coaching staff who made it all happen and got the best players who I love as we all worked together to get here. Everything that has happened was a team effort. We all did it together."
"And here you are, first from defeating the defending Super Bowl champs, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs and now you've beaten the Patriots to help Seattle redeemed what they went through the last time they faced each other. You really lived up to your trademark name, Slayward!" Michael said causing me to laugh.
"Well they are what makes me what to go hard and bring out the best in me so I gotta give them credit for what I've been through and I got to give a big thanks to all my friends and family, my wife especially for supporting me and cheering me on up to tonight. And of course to the 12s, we're bringing this home for you all!" I said holding up the trophy as they all cheered.
"Any last words you want to say?"
"Something I've been waiting to say my whole life, I'm going to Disney World!" I announced excitedly as my team cheered since that was prize for us champs. This is by far the greatest moment of my life.
After the ceremony was done, I got off the stage and handed the trophy back to Jody as I met up with some of my teammates. I was just going through giving them praise for a job well done at this game when someone called me.
"Edward!" I turned to see Bella a few feet away from me. Without warning, Bella threw something towards me and I was taken by surprise seeing the football which I thankfully caught it. When I did though, I saw a purple hair band wrapped around it. I was curious as I looked it over until I saw something on it that almost made me dropped the ball when I saw the hair band was holding down a white stick with the football, and on that stick showed two solid lines.
"Are you serious?!" I said, looking at Bella, hoping this is what I think it is.
Bella just smiled big, nodding her head. "YES!"
"Oh my god!" I exclaimed as I rushed towards Bella, still holding the ball as I scooped her up and kissed. No fucking way! "I can't believe this!" I said as I sat Bella down on her feet.
"I love you!" Bella said as I saw tears in her eyes.
"I love you too!" I said as we hugged each other over loud crowd with confetti still raining down on us.
I don't believe this. Here I am, a married man to America's Princess, an NFL quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks my childhood team, Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl MVP, and now, soon to be father. This here, is the greatest thing to has ever happen to me and I couldn't be more grateful at what life has given me.
Congratulations are in order! Edward is now Super Bowl champ in just his first year in the NFL and he and Bella are going to have a baby together! How amazing is that?! Don't worry you guys, we got more outtakes to see so be ready.
And as you can tell, I was very passionate about writing out how things went with Edward Cullen and his friends on the football careers. Not only I made them have good careers, but I used this writing as a way to vent out some things I've been through when I was watching the NFL today. Like Brock Purdy for example. He's actually a guy who plays for the 49ers but was the last player and quarterback taken in the draft last year labeling him as Mr. Irrelevant. And halfway through the season last year, Brock took over after previous quarterbacks got injured and… well he's apparently not so irrelevant as he won every game since and people are titling him as the next Tom Brady and I hate it. It's not because I hate the 49ers since they are rivals of mine, and that we are trying to find a new quarterback for our team, but I'm annoyed at how people talk about him and think he's the reason now why the 49ers are the best team in the league. He's not! The running back that they traded for is the reason why they're good. And this is probably me pulling a Mike Newton, but Brock is only good because the team was already good. The coach can make any quarterback good and now sadly they are in the Super Bowl this year which they shouldn't have since they were down every game in the playoffs. Whatever. It is what it is. Plus Edward's hate for the Rams is the same reason as mine and though we won't know what's gonna happen, the refs have ruined this season of the NFL with their rigged calls and bad officiating. Yeah, so that chapter was a way for me to vent out my feelings after watching this season's NFL.
But I was also thinking that if you guys like in the next chapter in the end where I write my author's notes, I could write out some skits about Edward's NFL career coming from TikTok. I've seen TikTokers do a lot of sports content and ideas struck me as I thought I could give you guys a few laughs.
Anyway, moving on with life and into the next outtake. Please review, and I will see you in the next chapter!
