(Turtle Titan)
Superjoeyf721: Yep, the only complaint I had about the original Technodrome invasion was that they didn't really go into the civilian side of things, which I'm trying to explore more in this version. But yeah, writing out everything I did was exhausting, to say the least. Also nice South Park reference.
Gamelover41592: That's actually a pretty accurate reaction.
Vfc15650: Some things can be done fast or they can be done right, such as this. Hectic doesn't even begin to describe everything in this chapter, but I'm glad to see you thought it was worth the wait.
Spectacular Webhead 11: Thanks, I'm glad to see you liked it. The Defenders were a given, Emily's death was important to the plot, Roderick Kingsley had outlived his usefulness to his benefactor, and cameos by both Venom and Punisher were enjoyable. Norman coming back into the picture is going to be a big part of what's to come, and Flash finding out about Peter was a last minute decision, but one I'd like to explore soon enough.
Kival37101: I'm at least planning to explore it, so we'll see how it goes.
C.S. Allen (responding to all of your reviews in one): Thanks, I'm glad to see you liked it, and I appreciate your understanding. Believe me when I tell you that I've got a lot of stuff planned for the second season. You're not wrong about all of the chaos caused by the Technodrome though. I don't plan to introduce Mr Negative for awhile, but when I do, I'll be sure to keep all of that in mind. You're not wrong about Cletus, the guy is all kinds of screwed up. Liz discovering certain aspects about herself is going to be explored in due time, and you'll see how I go about that. That question is why Splinter chose to hide himself and his sons away from the world. I have plans to adapt… certain elements of the clone saga, but a very loose adaptation of it at best. I haven't decided how big of a role Jessica Jones is going to have in this story, if any, let alone Purple Man. I haven't seen Spider-Man TNAS, but I've heard a lot about it, and all of that does sound pretty brutal. But you're not wrong, including the Purple Dragons with the Inner Demons is a pretty good idea. Liz being a mutant will be addressed soon enough. I don't really plan on going all in on the whole Mutant Rights thing, but you'll probably see some elements here and there. I didn't know that about Jessica Jones and Peter Parker, but it does provide a bit of pretty interesting lore.
TheIrishman1999 (responding to all of your reviews in one): I haven't read any of the short comics, but that does sound pretty sweet, and Splinter and Iroh do seem similar. Also I've read the Same Differences fic, and it's really good, same with the other fics by that author. I have seen at least some of Young Justice, and it's a good show, but Teen Titans is my preference. No, there won't be anything from DC in this fic. Liz being a mutant will be addressed in time.
Guest616: Thanks, I'm glad to see you liked it. I figured it only made sense to bring in those like the Defenders and the Punisher, along with Sandman. Liz having powers will be a plot point later on, along with Venom returning, and Flash finding out is going to be addressed. Also the return of a certain flying green elf is going to be an overarching plot point for a good chunk of the story.
Guest: That's putting it pretty mildly. The world is saved, and we saw cameos by pretty much all of the Defenders plus a few extras. Venom's return is… strenuous to say the least, but everything else is pretty much on the nose. Let me tell you now that there's going to be a lot to look forward to in the near future.
Guest: I wouldn't have put it quite like that, but I do appreciate the sentiment.
5FingerDeathFist (responding to all of yours in one): Yeah, the guy sounds like a real piece of work. I actually do have plans for Venom when the time comes. You're not wrong, Doom is pretty much THE best Marvel villain of all time.
Soundwave1982: Thanks, I'm glad to see you liked it.
Shakespeare RZA: Yeah I know, I've read both of them, and they're really good.
Althea Sirius: Yep, those who saw the final scene of Spectacular knew that Norman coming back was inevitable. I have given some thought to Leo getting a love interest, but my current ideas are a bit tentative at best. Calling this a monster of a chapter is pretty accurate, especially given it's the longest chapter I've ever written. You're not wrong about the reviews, and I try to be patient, but it can get pretty annoying. The story is on semi-hiatus for the time being, to avoid burning myself out on it.
Awesomerebel55: Thanks, I'm glad to see you liked it. To say things are going to get wild from here on out is an understatement. Old and new villains will appear, the Foot and Venom are still out there, and so much more. Though as cool as Goongala is, I think Booyakasha would be more fitting.
ZukahanMultiColor: Thanks, I'm glad to see you liked it. Though to clarify, Norman didn't appear, he just called Harry when the funeral was over. No one else knows about him being alive yet.
Frosty Wolf (ch 3): Yeah, you pretty much summed it up.
Frosty Wolf (ch 6): Unfortunately for Warren, intelligence begets arrogance. I didn't really think about the lion, but I doubt Kraven would've let anything happen to it. Peter would've for sure, but keep in mind that kind of situation would be stressful for anyone.
ZeroTheOne: Thanks, I'm glad to see you liked it. I'm always open to hear new ideas, but I can't always guarantee I'll be able to use them.
Frosty Wolf (ch 7): Prowler isn't like the other villains he's currently working with, as you'll see in due time. Peter learning about sharpening and enhancing his skills will be addressed soon enough.
Frosty Wolf (ch 8): You're pretty much right on the money. After his last appearance, I figured having Sandman work on reforming was the most logical step for his character. Plus I like to have him be snarky, and add elements from the games and other sources. Also you can expect a fair bit of Daredevil in the near future.
Shakespeare RZA: When you put it like that, the similarities are pretty obvious.

For once, the night in New York was relatively calm. At least, as calm as it could be.
"Alright guys, we have to stay focused." Leo led the rest of the Turtles out of a manhole, into a nearby alley and onto one of the rooftops "Keep in mind that the purpose of this training exercise is for us to master the way of invisibility."
"Yeah we know dude, sensei gave us the whole speech before we left." Mikey cast a look down onto the streets and gave a grin "You guys ever notice how much safer things look around here since we put the smackdown on the Kraang? Looks to me like we got a lot of stuff done for the greater good."
"...Greater good? Are you serious?" Raph shot him a dull look "Way to sound like a politician there Mikey. Just get over yourself already."
"Fine go ahead and make fun if you want Raph, but I'm serious. Plus I think we could do a lot more stuff out there, you know like other guys like Spidey and Daredevil do." it was then that the sound of a siren drew their attention, leading them to follow it until they came across a building in flames, with an old man trying to "Crap, we've gotta do something!"
"One of those times I actually side with you, now let's move." the two of them grabbed hold of their weapons and prepared to move.
"Hold it you two." Leo stopped both of them by grabbing them by the arm "If we go out there then we'd get spotted."
"Seriously, we're just gonna sit around and do nothing?"
"Will you calm down? The fire department has it under control. Besides, they're already getting some extra help right up there." he gestured to where Spider-Man was swinging onto the scene, grabbing the old man out of the window and lowering him to the ground before throwing a small sphere into the fire that exploded out a wave of webs that put out the flames before they were able to spread further, earning a series of cheers from the civilians down below before he swung away from the scene "See? He's got it taken care of."
"And he does it in style." Spider-Man swung around and landed behind them "Though I will admit that I've had some help with recent upgrades via Gwen. A few tweaks to the formula for making my web fluid and you've got near instant fire suppressant."
"But see dudes, this is what I'm talking about." Mikey patted Spider-Man on the shoulder "This right here is a guy who gets it."
"I feel like I'm missing some context here."
"I'm trying to make a point to my bros, you don't have to stick to the shadows to do the whole hero thing and look at what you can get done." Mikey actually paused, then gave a wide grin as he turned to the others "You know what that's it, what do you say the four of us try becoming superheroes?"
"Exqueeze me?" Donnie shot an incredulous look at Mikey "Are you serious?"
"Totally! We can go out on patrols every night, fight crime and save people like real superheroes do. Like Spidey here."
"Yeah, hate to break it to you Mikey but I think you're wearing your mask a bit too tight. Looks to me like the oxygen isn't making it to your brain."
"Don't you get it? We'd have secret identities to protect ourselves like Spidey does, and we could work out in the open and actually do some real good, maybe get some thanks for all the stuff we do for the city."
"Hate to break it to you Mikey, but I'm thinking you've been reading way too many comic books lately." Donnie rolled his eyes and took off to another rooftop, with the other Turtles following him.
"Great. Just perfect." Mikey let out a groan as he laid back on the ground glancing up at the moon shining above, and then cast a glance at Spider-Man "Let me guess, you gonna laugh at me too?"
"Considering about ⅔ of my education has been spent getting ridiculed by guys like Raph, I'm gonna take a hard pass on that." Spider-Man gave a shrug as he sat down next to him and took off his mask, revealing the face of Peter Parker "But in all seriousness, what's bringing on the interest in entering the superhero game all of a sudden?"
"It's not really all of a sudden, I've kinda been thinking about this for awhile. Superheroes like you or Daredevil never have to hold back because they're afraid someone is gonna get a look at their face, and I wouldn't say no to getting a little bit of credit for all the good we've done for the city. Me and my bros have been working with you for months to save the city from the Kraang, the Foot and a bunch of supervillains and we haven't gotten squat for recognition. I just think it would be kinda nice."
"Get the thought process, but two problems with that. One, I'm pretty sure revealing yourselves would get you guys lumped in with the other kind of mutants out there, and frankly I don't really blame Splinter for not wanting you involved in any political stuff."
"And the second one?"
"The fact that if you're looking to get credit or people to worship you, you're looking at the wrong guy to partner up with."
"Seriously? I thought people started liking you now after the whole Technodrome thing."
"Yes and no." Peter sat up and glanced down at the streets "It has been about a week since that whole thing went down, and from what I can tell people do seem to like me more. Doesn't mean all of them though. There's plenty of people like Jameson and most of the sheep that follow him that don't buy it, something about attributing it to "the enemy of my enemy" or something along those lines." he rolled his eyes at the thought, but then gave a small smile "But still, for the first time in awhile, it feels like more people like me than hate me, so that's a plus. It's actually kind of nice, which I'm pretty sure means it's not gonna last for too long."
"That's kinda pessimistic don't you think?"
"Just speaking from experience. I wouldn't wish that on you man."
"Eesh. So uh, new topic. What's going on down there on street level?"
"Short version, a lot." Peter breathed a sigh "It's been about a week since everything with the Technodrome, or the Death Star as people are calling it. Damage Control has been working on clean up and rebuilding."
"I'm gonna guess that's harder than we thought it'd be."
"More or less, given that dozens of people died and hundreds were left homeless. Some of them were a lot more personal than others, like my… friend Harry."
"That was your buddy that dated Gwen before right? The one whose dad was the Green Goblin before?"
"Yeah. His mom was killed during the invasion."
"How's he taking it?"
"About as well as you can expect. Nobody's really seen or heard anything from him since his mom's funeral. I've got a pretty good idea of how he's feeling now too." Peter breathed a sigh, but then shook away the crestfallen expression "On the plus side it hasn't been all depressing lately. I'm pretty sure a good chunk of people are high on the thrill of not being dead, so that's a bit of a mixed bag. More thrill of being alive means more people doing stupid stuff, which leads to more need for Spider-Man to do his thing, which leads to more pictures, leading to more cash from He with the Hitler Stache. Somewhat. The only other thing I'm not so sure about is the fact that my Aunt May apparently picked up a job at the FEAST Shelter in Chinatown. Apparently she'd been working on applying there for a few weeks, but I was too distracted helping you guys deal with the Kraang to notice."
"So what, it's like a soup kitchen?"
"No FEAST is an acronym, stands for Food, Emergency, Aid, Shelter and Training. It's this string ofhomeless shelters that takes people in and goes all the way with helping people to get back on their feet, run by this philanthropist named Martin Li. He's a nice guy, though I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't more than a little concerned about May working there. It's still less than a year since she had her heart attack."
"But you're not stopping her."
"I tried to protest it, but she made two really good points I couldn't argue with. First, she gave me that line that she always does, about how if you help someone, you help everyone."
"And the second?"
"She pointed out the fact that I had no room to argue about her well being when I'm the one who took off in the middle of an alien invasion."
"...Ooh."
"Yeah. Anyway speaking of which I've gotta get home, she enforced a new curfew on me for, again, running out in the middle of an invasion without telling her. I'll meet you guys at the Lair for training tomorrow morning." so Peter pulled his Spider-Man mask down and swung away into the night.
'Yeah, see you dude.' Mikey breathed a small sigh as he watched Spider-Man swing away, then looked up at the skies again 'To shell with what the guys think, I'd make a totally kickass hero if I wanted to be. Plus it's like Black Panther said in his autobiography, you can't let your of being discovered stop you from doing what's right.'
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Another day came, and with it another day of school.
'Well that takes about as much time as always.' Peter handed in his paper to the teacher and made his way out of the classroom, only for his Spider Sense to go off just in time to avoid a football being aimed at his head 'And once again the Spider Sense manages to save me from death by stupidity.'
"Sorry about that Parker." as it turns out, it was Hobie catching the ball courtesy of a larger bald teen (Kenny Kong) throwing it "Didn't see you there."
"From you I actually believe that. Let me guess, waiting for Flash?"
"For more reasons than one. Aside from having practice soon, he's been acting pretty weird for the past few days."
"We're talking about Flash, what the hell qualifies as normal?"
"Not much, which actually says a lot for him. Anyway you might wanna duck, I'm pretty sure that any second now Kong is gonna-"
"Yo Brown, go long!" Kong chucked another ball in their direction, just as Gwen was coming out of the room, only for her to gracefully duck under it.
"...Well shit."
"Not the first time she's done that either. Later." Peter patted Hobie on the shoulder and made his way over to Gwen, his voice low "And with no Spider Sense either. You never stop being all kinds of amazing do you?"
"I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be your tagline." Gwen let out a chuckle as she started walking alongside Peter arm in arm.
"I'm more opting to go with Spectacular at the moment."
"Fair enough. But getting off of that for the moment, did you get a message from the Connors last night?"
"I got an email, apparently they're back in town and opening the lab at ESU again."
"Yeah, Martha called me last night and mentioned it to me. She asked if we could stop by today and told me to pass on the message to you."
"Really? I didn't see anything like that, but if it's her I guess it's not that much of a surprise. I think it's safe to say she hasn't been my biggest fan ever since the Lizard incident. Not that I can blame her." Peter's face fell at the memories, only to feel Gwen gently grip his hand.
"Don't go dwelling on that now, it's not going to do any good. Besides she can't hold it against you forever, she did agree to give you another chance after all."
"I guess." Peter breathed a sigh, only to be distracted by the sound of his phone vibrating, to which he looked at the message and his expression dulled as they made their way out of the school building "And then there's this."
"Something bad?"
"I haven't really decided on that as of yet. Mikey is sending me costume ideas, apparently he wants to try his hand at the whole superhero gig."
"Seriously?"
"I know right? Honestly I'm not sure how to feel about it." Peter stopped in his tracks when he noticed that Gwen had stopped "What? You're actually on board with that?"
"I don't know about him being a superhero, but to be completely honest, I'm not against the idea of you having backup when you go into a fight."
"You know I can take care of myself."
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean you don't have close calls… way too close." Gwen looked at him, her expression filled with fear and worry "Pete… you almost died during the Technodrome crisis a week ago. If it wasn't for Eddie… for Venom… you might not be here right now. The last thing I want is to end up losing you for real…"
"Gwen…" Peter's gaze softened as he pulled her into a tight hug "Call this cheesy or whatever you like, but as long as I have you and Aunt May to keep coming home to, no way I'm gonna let something like that get to me. Plus it's like one of Splinter's lessons, the most important goal of the ninja is to come home alive."
"That's… somewhat reassuring." Gwen gave a small smile as she pulled Peter into a short yet loving kiss "But that doesn't mean I'm going to stop worrying, and if I think you're pushing it too hard I won't hesitate to give you the Look."
"I wouldn't have it any other way." Peter let out a chuckle as he tightened his hold on Gwen, his thoughts drifting 'Like hell I'd die when I get to feel something like this. Still though, I guess it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have someone watching my back, especially now that Daredevil is back in Hell's Kitchen. But in all seriousness, what are the odds of Mikey actually going through with this whole superhero idea? Aw crap, I just jinxed it didn't I?'
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with the rest of the protagonists…
"You would be wise to remember this my sons." Splinter turned to address the Turtles "The two greatest weapons that a ninja has at their disposal are placement and surprise. Tonight I will have you perfect the move meant to utilize both of these elements. Leonardo come, attack me with the Invisible Flying Dragon."
"Hai sensei." Leo charged at Splinter and leapt overhead as he launched the attack and landed on the other side.
"Raphael."
"On it." Raph went next without any problems.
"Donatello."
"Hai!" Donnie went next without any issue.
"Michelangelo!" Splinter was met with no response, so he made his way over to where Mikey was working on a journal in the corner and smacked him over the head with his cane "What are you doing?"
"Wha-?" Mikey bolted upright and hid his journal behind his back "Um… nothing."
"Yeah, nothing like I'm Mila Kunis. Let me see that." Raph snatched the journal from Mikey's grasp and opened it up "Well what do we have here?"
"Come on Raph, give me that back."
"Let me think about that. Nope." Raph leapt away and opened up the journal, only to burst out laughing as he saw various drawings of the four of them in costumes "Well what the shell do we have here, the Ninjustice League? No wait, more like the Shelltastic Four. No no wait, the Legion of Sewer Heroes." and then he burst out laughing, with the others getting a few chuckles in too.
"Oh yeah sure, go ahead and laugh it up bro." Mikey gave a scowl as he snatched his journal away from Raph "It's a sad day when your own brothers make fun of you for having dreams of your own."
"Are you actually serious about this whole superhero thing?" Leo cast a glance over the contents of the journal "Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate that you made my costume look like Captain Ryan from Space Heroes, but are you actually for real?"
"Why not? Guys like Spidey or Daredevil don't have to hold back because they're scared that someone is gonna see them, and don't you think it'd be nice to get a little bit of credit for the good we do?"
"Believe me my son, I understand how you feel." Splinter took a step forward "Your intentions are noble, I will not deny that. However, you must never forget who you are. You are a ninja, and a ninja operates within the shadows."
"I get it sensei, but can't we get so much more done out in the open?"
"There are many paths in this life my son, and you must choose the one that you know to be true to yourself. Now then, let us return to our training."
"...Sorry sensei, I gotta get out and clear my head." Mikey breathed a sigh as he tucked away his journal and took his leave of the dojo, then the Lair entirely.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with the original superhero protagonist…
"Okay, so that's a thing I guess." Peter glanced down at his phone as he followed Gwen along the sidewalk towards the lab at ESU "Probably gonna be a migraine waiting to happen when it gets dark."
"Problems I take it?" Gwen shot him a raysed eyebrow as the two of them made their way into the lab.
"More of an annoyance than anything else. Apparently the rest of the guys found Mikey's new journal of superhero designs, Raph started talking which is pretty self explanatory, and Mikey stormed out to cool off. He's probably gonna show up at home later."
"He comes by your house?"
"Yeah he sticks around and has dinner with us every now and then, May said something about wanting to get legit human food in his system."
"Pizza counts as human food."
"And that proves you've never seen the way he eats it. Honestly, that makes you the lucky one if you ask me."
"And here they are, the people of the hour." the conversation was cut short by the arrival of a man with brown hair in a lab coat (Curt Connors), along with a red-headed woman in her own labcoat (Martha Connors), the former of whom was quick to greet them and shake hands with both of them "Peter, Gwen, it's so great to have both of you back in the lab."
"It's great to have you guys back in the city after… you know."
"You mean what Miles has been doing? Believe me I know, his actions go against everything I stand for as a scientist" Curt scowled at the thought, but then his demenaor calmed slightly "But at the very least he won't be hurting anyone else, and evidently I have the two of you to thank for that."
"Actually it's Gwen you should be thanking. She was the one who found all the info of what Dr Warren was doing, if it wasn't for that I probably never would've figured out what he was doing all this time."
"Well we're grateful that we're finally back where we belong, and now it's time for us to start rebuilding and making amends. And if the two of you are willing, we could use some help with that."
"Wait, you mean…?"
"We chose to restart our internship program as soon as we got the chance, and we couldn't think of anyone better to offer the positions to, if you'll accept."
"I… I don't know what to say." Peter shared a look with Gwen, and then both of them gave a smile "If you guys will really have us, then all I can say is… when do we start?"
"Today if you're available."
"Absolutely. But actually before we do, there was something I wanted to ask about." Peter took a breath as he pulled a picture out of his bag "See for the past few months, I've been working on a story investigating the various scientists disappearing around the city, and it led me to … some pretty weird stuff. Does this look familiar to you?"
"What exactly are you talking about?" Curt looked down at the picture (which happened to be of a canister of Mutagen with the TCRI symbol), and his gaze immediately hardened as he cast a glance over at Martha "Should we move this to somewhere more private, like my office?"
"If you think it's for the best, but Gwen already knows everything about this. Whatever you have to say in front of me, you can say in front of her.
"If you say so." Curt shared another look with Martha, then turned back to Peter "To answer your question, I do know about TCRI and their Mutagen. Not long before the two of you first started interning here, one of them approached me and offered me a substantial amount of money to experiment with it."
"Which raises another question." Gwen pulled out her phone and held up an image of one of the Kraangdroids in their human disguise "Is this the guy?"
"That's him. For a time I did work with them, mostly because we were in need of grant money, and I even managed to create my own variant of a mutagen in an attempt to reverse engineer it, which went about as well as you could guess."
"The reason for that is because that stuff is dangerously unstable." Peter noted "They've been getting all kinds of scientists to help them perfect it."
"I cut ties with them as soon as I saw the effects of the mutagen."
"You mean the… Lizard incident?"
"That and doing further investigation into the Mutagen itself, and that was the end of it. At least until Miles brought them back into the fold, though I didn't find that out until after he managed to take control of the lab from us. After that I discovered what he was doing with it, and I came to realize just how far he was willing to go. I also came to learn more about his benefactors than I imagined, and honestly… I felt it was safer for us to leave the city for the time being."
"And that's when you moved to Florida." Peter shared a look with both of them "To be totally honest, that might have been for the best. Given everything that was happening, the last thing any of us wanted was for you guys to get caught in it. But for what it's worth, I know a few guys who were willing to fight the good fight, to make sure that Warren and his backers didn't get away with what they did to you."
"I heard a bit about that, and believe me I'm grateful for it." Curt let out a chuckle "I guess that's just one more thing my family owes to you."
"Um… what are you talking about?"
"I think you know." Curt put a hand on Peter's shoulder, lowering his voice so only he could hear him "Between that and curing me of the Lizard, we owe you a great deal."
"...What?" Peter backed away from him and shared a frantic look with Gwen, then turned back to both of the Connors "You mean you… know?"
"Yes Peter, we know." Curt paused and looked at Gwen "Um…"
"She knows."
"Good, that saves us a bit of time."
"So… when did you figure it all out?"
"To be completely honest, we didn't know for sure until you confirmed it." Martha told him, which caused him to facepalm "But we have had our suspicions ever since those rumors about you went around back in January, and combining that with a few other things that would explain, and it wasn't really that hard to piece together."
"That part I believe. Apparently that incident was the catalyst for a few different people figuring it out."
"Except for me apparently." Gwen pouted slightly and looked away, leaving Peter to idly pat her on the shoulder.
"It did take us a little while to come to terms with it though. And now that it's official, there is something I need to say." Martha took a breath as she turned towards Peter "For as long as I can remember, keeping my family safe has been my highest priority. My husband and my son, the two of them are essentially my entire world, and I would do anything to keep them safe. So then when the Lizard incident happened, I put my all into creating a Gene Cleanser. Then when those pictures got into the paper… I felt betrayed I suppose. And honestly… part of me hated you, even if I did understand your reasons. Unintentional and indirect as it might have been, you put my family at risk."
'Brutal, but not inaccurate.' Peter cringed as he listened to her "I brought it on myself, and I did mislead you guys."
"But I still let my anger get the better of me. I misjudged you, and I'm sorry for that. And thank you for everything you've done for my family."
"You… don't have to thank me." Peter gave a small smile "It was the least I could do. Besides, I had the power so I had the responsibility to use it right, you know?"
"That actually reminds me." Curt spoke up again "How exactly did you gain these powers of yours in the first place?"
"Funny thing about that, I actually owe it to you guys. See during that trip our sophomore class took to your lab I-"
"Hey doc, I got those files you were looking for." this was when a new figure made her way out of the nearby office, a young woman with platinum blonde hair tied back in a ponytail and dark green eyes, clad in a dark purple blouse, a black skirt and a lab coat, and promptly handed a file to Curt "There you go."
"Thank you. Oh yes that reminds me, Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, this is Felicia Hardy, a student at ESU and our new lab assistant. She's the new Eddie essentially."
'Parker? Wait, isn't that…'
'Hardy, why does that name sound-' Peter cut himself short as he and Felicia locked eyes, and the two of them gained matching horrified expressions 'Oh for the love of God, why?'
"Do you two know each other?" asked Curt.
"Our families… have a little bit of history."
"Oh really?" Curt paused as he noticed the looks on their faces, and then shared a quick look with Martha 'Evidently not the good kind of history.'
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Hours passed, and night once again fell over New York City.
"How in the hell am I supposed to take this?" Peter was left venting over recent events to Mikey and the Spider Support Squad in his living room "It's bad enough Black Cat has been giving me a migraine as Spider-Man, now Peter Parker has to deal with her too?"
"Yeah hold up, I'm kinda out of the loop here." Gwen looked over at him "I thought you were back on good terms with her after the whole thing with the Hobgoblin."
"That was Spider-Man as far as she's concerned, and that's decent terms at best. According to what I heard from Daredevil, she's in talks about joining up with the Heroes for Hire. But as far as Peter Parker is concerned, her dad is the one that kiled my uncle."
"But that's not her fault." April pointed out.
"Of course I know that, but that doesn't make it any easier. It's just… I don't know." Peter let out a long sigh as he sat down on the couch, Gwen wrapping an arm around him to try and comfort him however she could.
"So what are you gonna do bro?" asked Mikey "You gonna quit the whole lab scene?"
"I don't know, I… I guess I'm gonna have to sleep on it, maybe distract myself from that for the time being. Anyway I can't believe I'm saying this, but can we focus on your whole superhero thing for the time being? I need a distraction.
"Really? Works for me." Mikey's face lit up as he pulled out his journal "Anyway I've been going over all the stuff I could find on how to make myself into a superhero. Step, a kickass secret origin story. Already got that covered. Step two, I need a cool mode of transport."
"Didn't you guys start carrying around grappling hooks awhile back?"
"Yeah but I figured it'd be too bulky if I'm going for full on superhero gear. Plus I'm kind of mad at Raph right now so I took the Stealth Bike to get here."
"I approve of the transport and the reasoning behind it."
"I figured you would." Mikey caught Peter in a quick fist bump "Anyway step three, we go out on patrol, which I did after I left the Lair. I saved this old guy from getting mugged by a few thugs somewhere in Harlem. Nice guy actually, his name is David Merryweather, said he used to be a vigilante himself or something, can't remember what he called himself, but he said that I should work on making a costume so my looks don't scare the crap out of people that I'm trying to help."
"Hence you came here to ask for help on step four?"
"And I figured I'd be the guy you can vent to when you're stressed out."
"Which doesn't go unappreciated."
"It's what I'm here for." Mikey paused and looked over at Gwen, April and MJ "You guys aren't gonna make fun of me for this like my bros did are you?"
"Hey have some faith in us big guy, we're called the support squad for a reason." MJ gave a shrug "We're not gonna tear you down for fun or anything. Besides, I think at least one of us has made it clear about wanting Tiger to have some backup."
"For real?"
"Big time, but for now I think it's a matter of finding the right look for you. Any chance you've got some ideas for a costume in that notebook?" MJ was promptly handed the journal and began to skim through it until she landed on a certain image "Got it, give me until tomorrow and I'll put together your new costume."
"You got it." Mikey gave a quick salute as he handed MJ the notebook and watched her take her leave of the Parker residence.
"Speaking of costumes, that brings up something else I was wondering about." Peter glanced over at Mikey "Tomorrow is the Halloween carnival on Bleecker Street. Any chance you and the rest of the guys would wanna come?"
"For real? Totally!" Mikey's grin widened further "My bros oughta be thrilled about going out like that, even Raph loves Halloween."
"Because it's the one night a year you can go out without people screaming in fear?"
"Pretty much yeah. Plus there was this one year where I got to see him dressed as a fairy princess as part of a dare."
"...Tell me you have pictures and send them to me."
"Quick bit of input here." April spoke up "I get the thought process, but what would they even go as? I don't think people are gonna get ninja turtles without it raising a few questions."
"I do have one idea for that, but it's gonna take some yellow and blue paint, and maybe some stuff to make spikes."
"...Are thinking about the same thing?"
"Probably."

Meanwhile, with the other protagonist…
"Well if nothing else, the snacks are definitely a perk." Leo handed over a dollar and accepted a cookie from one of the stands "So the school in Midtown has a sale on Halloween?"
"Yeah pretty much." a dark-skinned woman with short hair (Gloria Grant) dressed as a witch gave a shrug "Gotta make some cash somehow right?"
"Fair enough. Thanks for the snack."
"Thanks for the support." Gloria paused and looked over his costume "Yellow turtle with a blue shell and spikes. That from a movie?"
"It's supposed a Koopa from the Super Mario Bros movie, my brother came up with the idea for that. This is my own touch though." he gestured to the shirt he wore.
"Space Heroes?"
"You know about it? It's minty vintage and features Captain Ryan in his rare B-uniform captain jacket from season 3."
"...Yeah I don't get any of that, I just know it because my little brother is a fan."
"Oh."
"Sorry about him, he's a hardcore nerd." Raph (dressed up like Bowser) grabbed Leo by the back of the shirt and dragged him away while snagging a cookie for himself "Well at least these things are decent. Remind me again why we couldn't just go as ourselves? This is the one night a year where we can go out without people looking at us like we're freaks."
"We wanted to go for some authenticity." Donnie (dressed like Kamek) gave a shrug "Besides, I heard from Peter that they're having a costume contest this year and going as characters from a recently released and highly acclaimed movie is likely to earn a lot of points in our favor. If not for that, I probably would've gone as either a zombie wizard, Albert Einstein or my own alter ego, Smooth Donatello. Yeah that's right, Stefan Urquelle eat your heart out."
"...There's no way in hell that's gonna catch on."
"Pretty sure you said the same thing about Tik Tok."
"You say that like Tik Tok is a good thing."
"I never said that, I'm just saying that your judgement sucks."
"Hey guys." a new voice cut in before a fight could break out.
Donnie looked over and was immediately left stunned to see April (dressed as a vampiress) standing before them "H-Hey April, that uh… that's quite the costume."
"Oh, you like what you see?" that left him a flustered blubbering mess, which she quickly put a stop to with a chuckle "Relax, I'm only joking. So you guys really went through with the whole Mario thing?"
"We, or at least I, thought it would be our best chance at winning the costume contest Peter told us about."
"Well that probably explains why I saw Gwen dressed up like Princess Peach. Speaking of Peter, he's not with you guys?"
"He's still out on patrol, and Mikey left a little while ago. No idea where he is now."
"He actually stopped by to see me and MJ a few hours ago to pick up his new costume."
"Oh god, he's still on that whole superhero thing?" Raph let out a groan "Why the shell are you encouraging this stupid crap of his?"
"Because some of us want to encourage him and build up his confidence in his dreams instead of tearing it down like a wrecking ball." April crossed her arms and gave Raph a scowl and a raised eyebrow, which immediately made him shut up and back off.
"Wow." Gwen (dressed as Princess Peach) stepped onto the scene and glanced at April with an approving smile "Nice job with giving him the Look."
"Thanks, I've been practicing that.

Meanwhile, with the other protagonist…
'Twas the night of Halloween, and all through Manhattan, not a creature was stirring, not even over on Staten… Eh, not my best but I'll take it.' Spider-Man swung his way down onto a lower rooftop overlooking the city 'Might as well get a bit of patrol in before the carnival, and I still have to get into my own costume. After the whole Venom fiasco back in January, I shouldn't risk trying to go as myself again. Oh well, might as well take the chance to enjoy the peace and quiet while I got a minute.' then the sound of a car horn and tires screeching got his attention, and he looked down to see a random guy standing in the middle of the street, disrupting the traffic and forcing the drivers to weave around him 'You know that actually lasted longer than I expected it to. And that's kind of sad.' so he swung down onto the scene and used a web line to pull the guy out of the street before he could get hit by an oncoming truck, and then set him down in a nearby alley "Look dude I get it, everybody ignores the rules about jaywalking, but there's gotta be a line to draw in there somewhere."
"Wha…?" the guy paused as he shook off whatever disorientation he was feeling, and then he suddenly looked up at Spider-Man "What the hell, what's going on here? Get the hell away from me you Spider Freak!" and then he took off running.
'...Yep, I knew something was missing.'
"Eesh, so much for getting a thanks for saving the guy."
"Dude at this point I'll settle for people not throwing stuff at me." Spider-Man turned around to meet the source of the voice… and was immediately taken by surprise "Mikey?"
Sure enough, Mikey stood before him, only in a new attire consisting of a black cowl covering his eyes, a dark green torso with an orange T on the front, and the symbol of the hamato clan on the bottom "I don't know who this Michelangelo is."
"I never said your full name."
"...Dammit, I had a whole superhero intro worked out. Anyway MJ and the girls finished work on my new suit a few hours ago and I decided to take it out for a test drive." he spun around to give Spider-Man a good look "Allow me to introduce to you, the Turtle Titan! So what do you think?"
"Not too shabby. So how's that working out for you?"
"Well for one it feels good to not have to hide or anything. The only downside is that apparently people aren't crazy about being saved by a guy in a cape and cowl." he scowled at the thought "I mean seriously, what the shell does it take for a superhero to get some respect in this city?"
"Whatever it is, let me know when you figure it out, because apparently saving the world from the Death Star isn't gonna cut it, or saving jaywalkers from oncoming trucks."
"Or trying to stop guys from jumping off a bridge or walking into traffic. I saved both of them but they both freaked out when they saw me."
"Same. I guess some things never change." Spider-Man breathed a sigh, only for his attention to be diverted as he pulled out his cell phone "That's Gwen, I'm supposed to meet up with her at the Bleecker Street carnival and I still gotta get into my costume. I should probably take that as a cue to pack it in for the time being. You coming?"
"Not now, the last thing I want is for my bros to get a load of this thing yet, plus I think I'm gonna keep on the lookout for a little while longer. I'll meet you guys there in about an hour or so."
"Alright, but if anything happens call me." so Spider-Man leapt back onto a nearby rooftop and promptly swung away from the scene.
'Please, the most that's gonna happen is probably just a bunch of other guys calling me a freak or something.' Mikey breathed a sigh as he made his way onto another rooftop and began to look out over the city 'Seriously though, what the shell does a guy have to do to get some superhero cred in this town? I don't know how teams like the Avengers or the Fantastic Four make it look so easy.' his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of glass shattering, and he looked over to see a man breaking through the window of a nearby stoor 'A good old fashioned robbery huh? Now that's a lot more like it.' so he leapt down onto the sidewalk and made his way into the store to find the burglar stealing cash from the register "Alright big guy guess what, you're about to get an up close look at the Turtle Titan!" he was promptly ignored 'So much for striking fear in the hearts of criminals. Maybe I should do what Pete does and piss them off until they screw up on their own.' so he promptly went up to the guy, grabbed him by the shirt and shoved him against the back wall next to a certain poster "Like I was saying, the name is Turtle Titan, and you're gonna wanna remember it cause right now your name is…" he paused as he looked over and saw the image of the same guy on the poster "Crazy Manny?"
"Wha…?" Manny's eyes suddenly stopped glowing as he came to his senses "What in the world is going on? Oh dear mother of God, please don't hurt me! I've got a family, take anything you want but don't kill me!"
"Hold the shell up for a second man, you're the one breaking into the place not me."
"Why would I break into my own store?"
"That's kinda what I wanted to know." Mikey's gaze then fell on a small glowing electronic disk that fell off the back of Manny's neck, which he quickly picked up "I'm gona guess this isn't part of your inventory or something?" any answer he would've gotten was cut short by the arrival of a police car outside the store.
"Officer in here, some kind of masked lunatic is trying to rip off my store!"
"But I'm not- Oh the hell with it." Mikey didn't hesitate as he rushed out the back door just before the police could enter 'Great, you try to do the right thing and end up having to run from the cops. Is this what Pete feels like most of the time?'
What no one noticed however, was that a figure clad in a yellow hazmat suit was watching the scene unfold from a nearby alley, and promptly pulled out a communicator "The robbery was thwarted sir."
"Was it any of them?"
"No sir, some unknown masked figure, I think he was calling himself Turtle Titan."
"Must be some novice trying to pass himself off as a hero. But in any case, were the Controller Disks functioning properly?"
"It appears that way sir. What's our next move?"
"I believe one more field test is in order to see how far people can be pushed under the influence of my disks, and then I can put them into action against my true target."

Meanwhile, at the carnival…
'It's times like this I'm glad I never bothered with getting my license.' Peter glanced out a the traffic littering the streets as he leapt down into an alley near the carnival. and then he pulled out his cell phone "Gwen?"
"Pete hey, I've been calling. Everything okay?"
"It went about the same as it usually does, only with no one trying to kill me or blowing stuff up, so I call it a win. I'm already at the carnival, so where are you?" he stepped out of the alley, and was immediately met with Gwen staring at him "Okay I really have to start watching out for other people when I'm changing Anyway what do you think?" he gestured to his own costume, consisting of a red shirt, blue overalls, a red hat with an M in the center, and a fake moustache on his upper lip "Know that I'm not open to criticism, I spent an hour trying to get this moustache to stay on."
"I'll keep that in mind. So in the meantime, what do you think of mine?" she twirled around to give him a view of her Princess Peach costume.
"Wow, that uh… wow."
"I choose to take that as a compliment." Gwen let out a chuckle as she took Peter by the hand and led him over to where the Turtles and April were waiting "Let's get moving, we still have some time to register before the costume contest starts."
"Works for me." Peter looked around as he followed the group "You know I almost forgot what it was like."
"What?"
"Having at least one night where you don't have to deal with any drama."
"I… wouldn't be so sure about that if I were you Tiger." MJ (dressed as a witch) suddenly came up next to the group "One thing I've learned in my time at Midtown is that there's always drama for one reason or another."
"I would object to that, but you're pretty much right on the money. What is it this time?"
"Mark Allen."
"...Oh." Peter froze at the mention of the name "So he's out then?"
"Yep."
"Cool, good for him. Assuming he doesn't try to melt my face off.'
"Which one is he again?" asked Leo.
"The guy whose gambling habit got him mixed up with stuff involving the Green Goblin and the Jackal and got him turned into Molten Man. Also the older brother of my ex-girlfriend, so that's even more stressful."
"You're telling me." MJ breathed a sigh, earning a raised eyebrow.
"I figured you'd be happy your not-boyfriend is free."
"I probably would be more if was still my… well you know."
"Wait, so you're not? What happened?" asked April.
"Short version, he got out about two days after the Death Star thing, I found out about two days after that, but we decided to break it off."
"Oh. Sorry about that."
"Don't be. Aside from the physical attraction we didn't really have a lot in common, it wasn't great as far as breakups go but it could've been a lot worse. It was mutual. There wasn't really any fighting or needless drama, we're both just free to do what we want. But some wounds take a little while to close up, so we're giving each other space for now."
"Ah, fair enough I guess." Peter paused and looked down at his phone 'Relationship drama I can deal with. In the meantime, I just hope Mikey isn't gonna get himself into trouble.'

Meanwhile, with the new superhero in question…
'Well this just got a whole new level of weird.' Mikey sat in the Stealth Bike staring at the disk he held in his hand 'Probably some kind of weird mind control thing like the Kraang used on Kirby and that Thundercat guy who attacked Gwen. Doesn't look like any Kraang tech I've seen before though. Maybe I oughta call Donnie or Pete about this. Nah, if Donnie found out he and the guys would just make fun of me for the whole Turtle Titan thing. I'll just shoot Pete a text and-' his thoughts were cut short when something caught his eye, in the form of a bus running out of control along the nearby streets 'Or I gotta put off doing what I wanna do and go make sure people don't get killed. Plus I didn't even get to the Hallowen carnival yet. Maybe this is what Spidey was talking about when he said it kept cutting into his social life.' and yet he still chose to ride off after the runaway bus on the Stealth Bike, only for the bus to start trying to run him off the road when he pulled up alongside him, but he managed to pull back to avoid getting bashed in and took the chance to leap off the Stealth Bike and launch himself through one of the bus windows "Hate to break it to you dude, there's already enough crappy drivers in this town, and me and my bro Raph are the only ones who get to hit stuff for fun!" he pulled the driver out of the seat and tried to bring the bus to a stop… only for that to fail "Aw come on man, don't tell me you cut the breaks!" then he looked ahead and let out a loud groan "And we're heading for the dock and about to crash into the bay because of course we are." then he had to fight off the guy trying to push him out of the driver's seat Alright I'm thinking there's gotta be a pattern here, and I'm thinking I oughta find it… there!" he found another disk on the back of the guy's neck and yanked it off.
This snapped the bus driver out of his trance and shake off the disorientation "What the hell, what's going on?"
"Off hand, I'd say this disk thing here was being used on you for some kind of mind control thing." he smashed the disk against one of the seats.
"So… I'm safe then?"
"Well you kinda took out the breaks too, so… hold on!" Mikey grabbed hold of the bus driver and leapt out the back door, using his shell to cushion the impact of the fall, allowing them to screech to a halt on the pier "You okay?"
"Yeah… Yeah, I think so." the bus driver shakily pulled himself to his feet, only to look over and see the bush crash into the sea, and promptly let out a horrified scream.
"Ooh, that. Right. Well you oughta be okay now so… see ya!" Mikey was quick to take off running away from the dock, quickly finding the Stealth Bike crashed into a group of trash cans on the sidewalk "Note to self, never let Raph find out about this." he was about to take off, only to stop when he saw the bus being lifted out of the bay and set down on the dock "Uh… Okay, I don't think buses are supposed to do that."
"Personally I deduct points for a bus falling into the bay, but other than that not too bad of a rescue."
"Yeah well I'd feel better if my cape didn't get ripped in the rescue. Seriously, that took a lot of work to-" Mikey cut himself short when he looked up to see the source of the voice and his jaw practically dropped "I- You- I mean you're- Holy crap you're really him, you're Iron Man!"
"Yeah, not quite." the figure, clad in a gray and silver-colored suit of armor mounted with a variety of weapons, dropped down onto the scene "Iron Man is the red and gold one, the name is War Machine. And you are?"
"Miche- I mean you can call me the Turtle Titan. I'm a superhero like you and the Avnegers- I mean I'm not just like you and them but me and my bros are big fans of your work and I'm a friend of Spidey so-"
"Okay take it easy buddy, I see enough of the superzealous fan stuff as it is. Let me guess, first night on the whole superhero thing?"
"Not really, I mean me and my bros have been hanging around Spidey for months so…"
"Uh huh." War Machine paused and looked Turtle Titan over for a moment "So I'm guessing you're one of those Turtle guys that's been seen running around the city with Spider-Man."
"You know about us?"
"I'm in the military and have a few friends that are intelligence officer,s old habits die hard man. Which means you're one of the ones that saved the city from what people are calling the Death Star incident. So then speaking for pretty much all of us when I say this… thank you."
"...You're welcome. I think."
"You sound surprised."
"I kinda am. Part of me figured you guys were gonna be pissed for stepping in on your terf or something."
"Hey don't get the wrong idea, some of us might have egomaniacal issues, Tony being one of them, but none of us have anything against people who are willing to step up and fight the good fight. Plus whether we like to admit it or not, we can't be everywhere and we can't save everyone, so it's good to know that the city is in good hands when we're not around to do it."
"Oh. Cool, thanks."
"Sure thing. So uh, you wanna explain what the hell the bus thing was about?"
"Oh yeah, turns out some guy is controlling people with these things. He made the guy try to drive his bus into the bay and got one guy to rob his own store." Mikey pulled out the two disks and handed them to War Machine, allowing him to scan them.
"Dammit, I was afraid it was gonna be something like this. This is a Controller Disk."
"You know these things?"
"Yep, they're mind control chips used by Basil Sandhurst, one of the guys in charge of the Advanced Idea Mechanics, also known as AIM."
"Friends of yours?"
"Something like that. They're an organization of mad scientists with delusions of wealth and world domination. They've been a pain in the ass for me and Iron Man since before the Avengers were a thing. Looks like you disabled them, but they're still putting out a control signal. I can use that to track the Controller to AIM's base."
"Awesome, lead the way and let's move!" Turtle Titan mounted the Stealth Bike and prepared to take off… only to be stopped by War Machine putting his foot on top of the bike "Hey what gives man?"
"Yeah here's the thing Turtle Titan, I can handle AIM and Sandhurst on my own."
"What? But-"
"Don't get me wrong kid, you've got a lot of heart and I appreciate the help, but I could tell just from watching that you're in over your head trying to do this."
"What, you mean the herothing?" Mikey looked rather salty "Dude I got years of ninja training, I can tangle with some of the best of them out there!"
"I mean dressing up in a cape and mask and running around beating the crap out of thugs at random." War Machine paused and lifted up his mask, revealing the face (James Rhodes, also known as Rhodey) that lay underneath "Real talk for a second. If you've already been hanging around with Spider-Man and protecting the city, why bother with the disguise in the first place?"
"I… I thought it'd work." Mikey breathed a sigh and leaned back in his seat "Honestly, I kinda figured that we could do more. Superheroes like you, Iron Man and the Avengers don't have to hold back because they're scared people are gonna see them, and at least you guys get a little bit of credit for the good you do. I figured I'd at least try to follow in those footsteps and be able to do more out in the open like you."
"Uh huh." Rhodey's gaze softened slightl "Hey look trust me, I get it, you think that being a superhero and all that good stuff means getting a costume or a suit of armor or superpowers. But it doesn't, not really."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean what I said. Frankly it just means you work with what you've already got. I'm still a military man, a new suit or a costume isn't gonna change any of that. The same thing goes for you too. You said you've got ninja training when you take away the suit right? That isn't going to change." the mask of War Machine came back down "I think Tony said it best. You can take away his house, all his tricks and toys, but there's one thing you can't take away. He's Iron Man. And you're a ninja, so try rolling with that." he was met with silence "Just call that a little something to think about, and leave the rest to me alright? See you around." he gave Turtle Titan a quick two-finger salute and promptly flew off.
"...Yeah right, like that's gonna happen." Turtle Titan's gaze hardened underneath his mask, and he revved the engine of the Stealth Bike as he pulled out his T-phone "Come on Pete, if there's ever a time to pick up it's now."
"What's up Mikey, everything okay on your end?"
"Dude you're never gonna believe what happened, I just met an Avenger!"
"...You'd better not be screwing with me."
"You're one of the people I don't wanna screw with. But seriously, I met War Machine and we're in a team up. Kind of. Okay not really, but I know he's about to start a fight and I'm gonna go help him."
"Alright I'm on my way, just don't do anything stupid or reckless until I get there."
"No promises." so Turtle Titan hung up, revved the engine of the Stealth Bike and took off at full speed.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
One quick trip across the bridge later…
'Oh yeah, now it's go time.' Turtle Titan brought the Stealth Bike to a halt outside what looked like an abandoned warehouse and quickly started climbing the walls using a pair of tegaki that he pulled out of his suit 'You know maybe it's a good thing MJ and April talked me out of going with a shield like Captain America.' he stowed away his tegaki once he reached the roof, only to find a hole leading inside, which he promptly leapt through, leading him into the dark and apparently abandoned warehouse 'Well I guess I know where War Machine went, and that means I got my way in. Speaking of which, where is he?'
"Get him!" several AIM soldiers (all in the yellow hazmat suits) came out from the shadows and started firing at Turtle Titan with high tech blasters.
"Well I was gonna ask if there were any nefarious evildoers in the house, but I guess I already got my answer." Turtle Titan started dodging and weaving around the lasers, until he the chance to draw out his nunchucks and started taking out AIM thugs left and right. When it was over, he stood among the various unconscious AIM soldiers, with the only thing damaged being his cowl, much to his dismay "Oh come on man, you know how hard it was to put this thing on? Alright, so who's the next supervillain wanna be that's gonna show up?"
"I believe that would be yours truly." the lights flashed on throughout the warehouse, revealing a single figure wearing a blue high tech bodysuit and helmet standing in the center of the room, a confident smirk plastered across his face.
"I'm guessing you're this big bad I've been hearing so much about, Basil or something?"
"The name Basil Sandhurst is dead to me. You can refer to me as the Controller. I don't believe I've had the pleasure, Mr…?"
"You can call me the Turtle Titan, and you can call yourself the TV remote controller for all I care. Just tell me where War Machine is."
"Well my good man, all you had to do was ask. Allow me to reintroduce to you none other than War Machine." the Controller gestured to where War Machine stepped out of the shaodws and into the light beside him.
"There you are man, you had me worried for a second- Oh crap." Turtle Titan's relief was short lived as he was forced to avoid the barrage from a should-mounted minigun being fired in his direction, eventually taking refuge behind a series of pillars.
"Oh yes, perhaps I should've mentioned that he's completely under my control."
"Yeah… that probably would've been good to know."
"As irritating as it's proven to me in the past, Iron Man's armor has proven too resistant when it comes to using my Controller Disks. War Machine on the other hand, his armor may be less advanced, but it works out quite wonderfully. A quick tap of a disk and now he's all mine to do whatever I see fit. And your first task as my new lieutenant War Machine, I want you to kill the Turtle Titan."
"What?!" Turtle Titan was forced to duck to avoid an oncoming repulsrr blast, only to suddenly find himself being grabbed by the cape by War Machine and hoisted into the air "Crap! Hey come on War Machine, you're still in there right? You don't wanna hurt me do you?"
"That's the beauty of the Controller Disk, he no longer has a choice in the matter." Controller let out a chuckle "I'm in complete control now, and there's nothing he can do about it."
"Maybe he can't, but you can't say the same for me!" Turtle Titan pulled a smokebomb out of his shell and threw it at War Machine, stunning him long enough to break free and retreat onto one of the warehouse ceiling beams, and once War Machine started flying towards him he threw out a volley of shuriken… only for War Machine to incinerate them all with a missile 'Oh yeah, high tech super armor. Probably should've thought that one through.' he tried to climb up to the hole in the roof to retreat, only for War Machine to catch him and hold him by one arm, which he subsequently began tightening the grip on, causing him to cry out in pain.
"Alright, I think that's enough playtime for one night." Controller put more power into the disk via his helmet, prompting War Machine to throw Turtle Titan through the wall of the warehouse and out towards the water.
'Crap, this is bad.' Turtle Titan closed his eyes and braced himself for the impact… only to feel something latch onto him and yank him away from the water.
It was a few seconds after this that War Machine burst out of the wall and scanned for the Turtle Titan, only to find no sign of him, the Controller speaking through him "Hmm, so he's able to shield his presence even from War Machine's scanners. This Turtle Titan may be even more resourceful than I expected. No matter, it's only a matter of time before I find him, and dispose of him." and so he flew off in search of Turtle Titan.
What went unnoticed however, was that Turtle Titan and a certain other figure were lying low in the Stealth Bike, the former breathing a sigh of relief "Oh man, that was way too close."
"You're telling me." the figure next to him, that being Spider-Man, breathed his own sigh as he retracted the shield overtop the bike "I gotta be honest, I wasn't even sure the shield was gonna work with him. Speaking of which, you alright?"
"My shell is a little bit sore, but otherwise I've been worse." Turtle Titan paused and looked over at Spider-Man "Hey how did you get here so fast? I thought you left the Spider Cycle at the Lair tonight."
"I did, but I used a few makeshift web slingshots to launch myself over here. It's something I used back when I fought Doc Ock for the first time. Anyway we gotta focus, cause I'm pretty sure that's not gonna work on him."
"No kidding." there was a pause, and then Mikey spoke again "They were right. Master Splinter and War Machine I mean."
"About sticking to the shadows and all that?"
"Splinter at least yeah, but when I met War Machine earlier he told me that a costume doesn't make me a superhero, that I oughta stick to the skills I've already got." Mikey took out one of his nunchucks and extended the blade, which he used to cut off what was left of his cape "So I think it's time for me to get back to the basics and use them to do good."
"You got a plan then?"
"I might, but I'm gonna need your help to make it work, if you're up for it."
"Just tell me what to do and it's gonna get done… partner." the two of them clasped hands, and then Spider-Man stepped out into the open "Hey guess what Iron Man reject, I'm right over here, go ahead and take your best shot!" that led War Machine right to him, and led to him getting a barrage of rockets being fired at him as he swung around the dockyard 'I really gotta learn how to keep my mouth shut. I doubt my webs are really gonna work on armor like that. I could try my electric webbing, no Stark probably thought about stuff like that. At the very least I can make sure they don't blow me to bits.' he managed to cancel out an oncoming barrage of rockets with shots of Impact Webbing, only for the last one to blow up in his face and send him hurtling to the ground and crashing into a series of barrels 'Okay, ow… Note to self, never listen to a Mikey plan again… In the name of self preservation…' he gritted his teeth and forced himself onto his feet just in time to stop War Machine's pounce on him, gripping one of his arms and kicking him in the face just in time to avoid a series of repulsor blasts, and then latched him onto the ground with a series of webs "Dude that isn't gonna hold him for long, whatever is you're gonna do you better do it now!"
"Way ahead of you!" Turtle Titan leapt out of the shadows and over both Spider-Man's back and that of War Machine just as the latter broke free of the web restraints, grabbed hold of the Controller Disk on the back of his helmet and ripped it off, stopping War Machine before he could fire the Unibeam from his chest "Note to self, thank Master Splinter for teaching me the Invisible Flying Dragon."
"I'd thank someone for a few pain killers right now." Spider-Man let out a pained groan as he pulled himself back onto his feet and spat out some blood "For the record. getting hit in the face with a rocket? About as fun as stepping on a dart."
"If it makes you feel better, I've been shot before so I feel your pain." War Machine stood upright and snatched the Controller Disk from Turtle Titan's hand, crushing it in an instant "But I do owe you for helping me out back there Turtle Titan. Same to you Spider-Man… but I gotta admit, not the look I was expecting from you."
"What do you mean?" Turtle Titan glanced over at Spider-Man and blinked "Why do you still have that thing on?"
"Oh, this thing?" Spider-Man gestured to the moustache he wore, leaving the bottom half of his face visible and exposing his moustache "Because it took me 45 minutes to get it to stay on the first time. Eventually I had to just stick it on here with some of my web fluid."
"Seriously? Eesh."
"Okay I'm all for talking about Halloween costumes as much as the next guy, but that's gonna have to wait until later." War Machine glanced over at the two of them "For now, I think Turtle Titan was saying something about a teamup?"
"Now we're talking!" Turtle Titan caught both of them in a high five "So what's the plan, we go in there and bust him?"
"No he always has an escape plan, I'm thinking I'll go in there and confront him while you two deal with any goons he's got left and cut off the escape route." on that note, War Machine promptly burst through the wall of the warehouse and found Controller waiting "That was a big mistake on your part Sandhurst, I'm no man's puppet!"
"Perhaps not today, but don't think for a second this is over. This world will be in the palm of my hand in due time." Controller didn't lose his smirk as he disappeared into a trap door just in time to avoid War Machine's charge.
"Dammit." War Machine scowled underneath his helmet, but then gave a shrug "Well, might as well leave it to the backup."

Meanwhile, with the escape attempt…
"Well that was an unfortunate debacle."Controller gave a scowl as he made his way out of the elevator shaft and into a sewer tunnel "No matter, it's only a matter of time before I manage to gain complete control. Soon this entire world will belong to me!"
"Wouldn't be too sure about that big guy."
Controller's delusions of grandeur were cut short as he found Spider-Man and Turtle Titan both standing before him "What?! How"
"Cause we're awesome, that's how." Turtle Titan gave a smirk as he dealt the Controller a swift roundhouse kick to the chest that sent him crashing to the ground "Who needs a shield on the wrist anyway, kicking a dude in the face works just fine."
"One of those points most people can't argue with." Spider-Man wrapped the Controller in a thick layer of webbing, then caught Turtle Titan in a quick fist bump before pulling out his cell phone "Captain Stacy? Yeah it's me. Send some people to the docks Hudson Yards, we've got something you're gonna want to bring in."

One swift and satisfying arrest later…
"Ah, the sweet sound of Karma." Spider-Man and the rest watched as the Controller was taken away by the police "At least when it's working in my favor instead of constantly kicking me in my web hole
"I hear that. Sort of." War Machine turned to Spider-Man and Turtle Titan as he lifted his faceplate, revealing the face of Rhodey "But in all seriousness, I can't thank you both enough for helping me out tonight. I'm cooling with working with you two anytime."
"Trust me dude, I'm thrilled to hear it." Turtle Titan gave a grin as he shook hands with War Machine, with Spider-Man doing the same "I gotta be honest though, guys like you can have all the spotlight stuff."
"So you're giving up the hero game?"
"I didn't say that. My sensei said that ninja are better off sticking to the shadows, and I think he's kinda right about that. But he told me I gotta find a path that's true to myself, and I can't just let a fear of people discovering me stop me from doing what I gotta do."
"...You got that from Black Panther's autobiography didn't you?"
"Just because I don't read the hardcore Shakespeare stuff doesn't mean I don't read." he then caught Spider-Man in a quick fist bump.
"Fair enough." the War Machine mask lowered back down over his face "I definitely won't forget this, either of you. Be sure to keep an eye out, we might be meeting again sooner than you think." and on that note, he blasted off into the skies.
"Well… that was awesome."
"No kidding, way to make it a first team up… partner." Spider-Man shot a grin at Turtle Titan, and the two of them shared a quick hand clasp "So you wanna head over to the carnival? If we hurry we might make it in time for the costume contest."
"Sure thing man, let's move it!" so the two of them rushed back over to the Stealth Bike and took off into the night "Hey, you wanna make it even better? What if we show off our new team at the contest and give the people a taste of what's to come?"
"...You have my attention."

At the costume contest in question…
"Alright, I think the votes are in." the judge for the costume contest stepped onto the stage and addressed the crowd "The winner of this year's costume contest and the $500 prize is-" he was cut off by the sound of a roaring engine.
It was at this moment that Peter (in his Spider-Man costume without the mask) and Mikey (in his Turtle Titan costume without the cowl) burst onto the scene on the Stealth Bike, and both of them leapt onto the stage "Are we too late?"
"Far from it, that entrance was amazing, and so are the costumes! I think it's safe to say that we have a winner!" the judge handed the check to them amidst a series of cheers.
It was after Peter and Mikey stepped off the stage that they found Gwen, MJ, and April and the other Turtles waiting for them "Guess I kinda screwed up the whole Mario theme we had going huh?"
"Well for what it's worth, that was a pretty cool way to show up." Gwen let out a chuckle as she caught Peter in a quick kiss.
"I'll take it." Peter gave a smile as he glanced up at the fireworks roaring in the sky 'Knowing the typical Parker luck, things are probably gonna go to hell again starting tomorrow, but I might as well take the chance to enjoy this moment while I can.'
"So what do you have to say Super Mikey?" Raph shot him a smirk "How's life in the funny books?"
"Actually guys, I'm thinking you're going to want to see this." April pulled out her phone and pulled up a news report for everyone to look at.
"-at a warehouse on the outskirts of Brooklyn where Basil Sandhurst, aka the Controller and a faction of AIM have been apprehended by Colonel James Rhodes, aka War Machine. Do you have any comments on the incident Colonel?"
"I don't deserve all of the credit here. The truth is that I couldn't have done this without the help of some new friends and allies, in the form of Spider-Man and the Turtle Titan. Also Tony, if you're watching this, you remember that New Avengers program you told me about? I think I just found a couple of potential new recruits for it."
"...Woah." that was enough to leave everyone stunned, with Peter and Mikey sharing a look with each other in silence, the same thought running through their minds 'Holy crap!'
A/N:
Given everything that's happened over the course of the first season, I figured it was only appropriate that we have a bit more of a lighthearted chapter to ease tension from recent events. And also to cover some of the aftermath of the Technodrome invasion, and a bit of the drama going with it, which I'll be going into further detail on in the next chapter.
Of course this is meant to be a breather chapter, and what better way than to have Mikey enter the realm of superheroes. For those of you who don't know, in the 2003 series Mikey had his own superhero persona named Turtle Titan. Given that this story takes place in a universe with actual superheroes, I figured it only made sense to have at least one or more of the Turtles adopt their own persona. Plus depending on how well this goes over, there might be other alter egos that could appear in this story later on.
On another note, given everything that's happened (like an alien invasion), I figured it was about time for me to introduce at least one new superhero in this fic, though not quite yet bringing in the big guns. In this case, I brought in War Machine. I figured it made more sense to start branching into the broader territory of heroes slowly insteads of going all in right away. Though he isn't the only one, as you'll see in due time.
Of course since this is meant to be more lighthearted, and given the timeline I've been running with so far, I figured it was only right to include a Halloween chapter in here, and show off a bit of good old fashioned Halloween fun. Examples of that would include the Turtles (three of them anyway), Peter and Gwen dressed up like characters from the new Super Mario Bros Movie. Maybe it's because I saw it and have it on the brain, but I thought that would be fun to include somehow, so here it is.
Oh yeah, and for the record, the Connors both know Peter's secret, and Felicia Hardy is their new lab assistant. That's something I plan to explore more of in the next chapter.
