Peter decided he needed to explore Charter City and collect more information about this dimension and the people in it before he seeking any help from Rook. He also needed to keep an eye out for his Doc Ock and the rogues and put a stop to them before they could cause any havoc. First things first, Peter needed a place to stay and a way to make money for things like food as well as materials for web fluid. As he swung through the city, Peter caught sight of a half dozen members of the gang know as The Daggers making their way into a fish market to harass some locals and force them to pay money for protection. This gave Peter an idea as he quickly found a good place to set his portable camera and then he sprang into action.
"Hey so are you guys ninja business or what?" Asked Spider-Man as he landed on the ground and faced The Daggers.
"Who are you?" Demanded one of The Daggers.
"Just your friendly neighborhood superhero, Spider-Man. Are you guys trying to steal fish to make sushi to sell? The ninja business must not be doing so well." Said Spider-Man.
"You insolent whelp! You dare insult The Daggers!" Snarled a Dagger.
"Daggers huh? Not a really good name, you really should go back to the drawing board." Said Spider-Man before he fired a few globs of web into a couple of the Daggers' faces.
The Dagger goons yelled in surprise as they stumbled back pulling at the web. The other goons quickly pulled out their swords and charged at Spider-Man. The hero leaped over The Daggers as they swung their swords and landed on the ground. Spider-Man grabbed a large tuna fish and hurled it at one goon striking him in the back of the head and knocking him to the ground. One goon charged at Spider-Man and received a punch to the face sending him flying into a stand of fish. Spider-Man struck a couple of goons with some web lines and slammed them together, before blasting some more web at the other goons restraining them all.
"That's a fine catch." Said Spider-Man as the locals cheered and clapped for the hero.
Spider-Man swung off and collected his camera pleased about the photos he took, before swinging off to look for some more crime to stop. He stopped some members of The Sables gang from robbing a jewelry store, stopped some Stickshifts from stealing a large car hauler, and members of the Made Men from robing a expensive clothes store. Spider-Man had stopped the crimes and had taken some good pictures that would surely earn him some money from any local newspapers. He managed to locate a newspaper said got the address for it. If he could make money by getting pictures of himself as Spider-Man fighting crime in his own universe then surly he could do the same here. Peter just hoped that he didn't get stuck with a boss similar to J. Jonah Jameson.
Spider-Man located the news building and found a place to change into his civilian clothes, before entering the building. He was greeted by the familiar sights, sounds, and smells of a newspaper company. It was smaller in terms of scale to companies like the Daily Bugle, but still a busy operation. Peter caught a few snippets of conversation from the employees talking about Spider-Man and what he had done and knew he had come to the right place. He found a female receptionist for the editor and chief and asked to have a meeting with him to discuss doing business. He was told to take a seat and wait.
About ten minutes later the door to the office was opened and a dark skinned man with greying hair and a elderly man with grey hair walked out and shook hands.
"Good to see you Park. Will keep you informed on any new info that might interest you." Said the dark skinned man.
"It was good drop by and see you too John. You know what I'm like when there's a good story out there." Said the grey haired man.
"Mr. Stevens you have a visitor." Said the the receptionist as Peter stood up.
"Hi I'm Peter Parker, I'm new in town and I'm a photographer." Said Peter as he shook John's hand.
"Nice to meet you Peter. You're a photographer, what do you have for me?" Said John.
"Well I heard about a new hero called Spider-Man in town that was stopping a lot of criminals, so I went around and managed to get some good pictures of him doing it." Said Peter as he pulled out his camera and began to show John the photos he took.
"Hey these are really nice. This be great for the paper. I'm impressed." Said John.
"These are really good. I think this young man is a good photographer." Said Mr. Park.
"Thank you. I'm looking for a job and I would be happy to work here." Said Peter.
"Consider yourself hired." Said John.
Peter had the pictures download onto one of the computers and John gave him a good bit amount of money for his work as well as business card telling him if he got any good photos to come on in. Peter thanked him and left the building to go see about finding a hotel room for himself. Park watched Peter leave and couldn't help, but have a strange feeling that there was more to the teen then met the eye. Park's old report senses told him to keep and eye out for Peter, it seemed a little bit too coincidental that a new hero arrived in Charter City about the same time a new photographer arrived at the paper with great photos of said hero. This could be something to tell his grandson Nathan and the other Flex Fighters about. Park headed home as his mind pondered the little mystery of Peter and the new hero Spider-Man.
To be continued.
