Fanfic about Undertale, yada yada yada, will be rated T, no smut, will also contain characters from Undertale Yellow.

Main character is called Scarlet Johnson. And it's his POV.

With this out of the way, let's begin.

You've heard the stories before. A lot of Undertale stories where the main character gets stuck in the world of Undertale and all that. But now that it was a post-Undertale Yellow world, things were way different, especially since the game itself was one of the greatest follow-ups and that Toby himself said he was proud of it. It may not have been canon, per-say, but it definitely gave a lot of backstory to the world, as well as including other areas that you couldn't really see in the main Undertale game.

Anyways, enough about that, I'd finally managed to beat each route of Undertale Yellow, with me making sure that Pacifist was the last one and being gut wrenched by the ending, especially how Martlet and Ceroba ended their journeys... and it definitely made me wonder if Kanako was one of the Amalgamates... it had to be Watcher for sure... but which monsters was she combined with? So many wild theories... and then, I fell asleep, me having a weird dream where I saw the sights of Undertale, but with a lot of differences... such as seeing that the events of Undertale Yellow took place nearly 90 years prior to Undertale... and then I saw the process of time happen, where the Dunes got destroyed during an earthquake and the Steamworks were long-since abandoned after the robots were found out to have been reprogrammed by Chujin to attack and kill humans, but then it also included the Guardener and Axis, who both were at fault for almost killing the monsters of Ceroba and how Axis almost killed three monsters in total. So the Steamworks were shut down and, eventually, paved over with Mettaton's rising stardom.

And then, finally, I woke up to the sound of wind, me groaning awake as I held my head. "Oogh... must've slept the wrong way or something..." I groaned, me then getting my sleepies out of my eyes and then feeling... that my bed felt much softer than before... almost like a mattress made of marshmallows... I then instinctively looked down... and gasped. Flowers? YELLOW flowers?! I then jumped to my feet immediately and looked around in shock. I was not in my apartment anymore! I was in the Underground!

I know, cliche, right? Well, the fact that I was there was one thing. But then I looked at my body, or what amount of it I could. My skin was YELLOW! I was wearing brown shorts and my shirt was striped purple and blue... I then looked around and heard... a weird voice.

"Your senses are disoriented... you need to get going," the voice said, me hearing it as... the voice of a 9-year-old? I then had to ask one word.

"Chara?" I asked, which earned a gasp from around me before I then heard the voice again.

"How did you know who I am?... You can't even see me, we've never met, but you can hear my voice?... What kind of human child are you?" Chara's voice asked, me shuddering at the thought... do I dare tell them? Were they male or female? What gender was I, even? I then felt down there and felt that it was there, so I was still a boy, even though I looked like a rejected Simpsons character for a pixel game...

"I'm uh... My name is Scarlet Johnson... male, 27, and... the one behind the screen?" I asked, which I then felt... something. I felt as if something was trying to touch me... and when I looked in that direction, I saw that, just barely visible and completely see-through, was the sight of a little kid with brown bob hair, a green shirt with yellow stripe, and brown shorts. And eyes as red as my name.

"Behind the screen?... You mean... you must be from beyond the borders... tell me, pacifist? Or Genocide?" they asked, me gulping at that.

"Um... I... I can't lie, I tried to do Genocide one time, but I couldn't get past Undyne..." I admitted with shame, which the kid frowned at. "And no, I'm not going to do any of that if I'm the actual person in the game... if this isn't a dream and it's real life, then I need to make sure everyone is as safe as possible," I frowned with seriousness and... Determination.

"I see shame on your face... can you see mine?" Chara asked, me looking at it and seeing that the kid now had big creepy black eyes, me then backing up at seeing them. "O-Oh my, y-you can?... S-Sorry..." they said as they then returned their eyes to normal. "A-Anytime I hear anything relating to murder or genocide, it just happens... sorry, didn't mean to scare you..." I saw they looked concerned, which I sighed at.

"Yeah... so... don't hate me for saying this... but are you a boy, or a girl? Or not a question worth asking?" I asked, Chara smiling at me.

"How many people have asked me that, since everything happened? Maybe, 39? I prefer not to say, but eh, no one but you has seen me since I died, so I'll tell if you promise not to blab," she said, me crossing my heart and nodding. "Female... and I've been around these parts as this kind of spirit since 1349... and ever since then, almost every 100 years, a new human comes down here and gets taken to Asgore... but some were worse than others," she said with a sigh.

"How so?" I asked as we kept walking towards THE most dangerous enemy in the game... Flowey.

"I'll tell you after this," Chara said, me then seeing the flower and him smirking at me.

"Howdy! I'm Flowey. Flowey the Flower! You must be new here, aint'cha?" he asked, me nodding.

"Yeah, I am," I lied. Sure, it was true that I'd never BEEN to the Underground, but this specific scenario? I'd seen it probably 100 times by now.

"Huh, you can talk? That's new," Flowey smirked with a judgmental grin. "Well, if you're new, let me give ya the tour. This here's the Underground, where monsters dwell. Here, let me show ya how things work around here," Flowey said as my soul then came out of my body... and we all three gawked at how my soul... was NOT Determination... in fact, it looked way different. It was actually colored brown with a bright yellow border, which I was very confused at, as well as Flowey. "Wait... something's different again... it's not red... then why aren't my powers working still?" Flowey asked, me then raising my eyebrow at him, which he then looked at me in nervousness. "Uh, a-anyhoo, here's how it works. You'll need a lot of LV in order to get through the Underground. You might wonder what LV stands for, huh?" he asked, me frowning. Time to blow the basket and give it to him straight.

"Levels of Violence," I said, which the flower looked at me in surprise. "I'm not the same as before, Serial Murderer," I frowned, which made Flowey gain his wicked, nasty grin.

"I see... then it appears I have to resort to drastic measures," Flowey said as he then did something different. He tried to grab my soul with conjured vines!... But, almost as if by complete instinct, my soul let out a large expulsion of FIRE! And Flowey freaked out after and had to slice off those vines with his own friendliness pellets before then burrowing away, me then seeing that Toriel was arriving and she looked at me in surprise.

"Oh my! What a miserable creature. Trying to kill such a poor innocent youth!" she said, her voice sounding like the most soothing, kind grandma you could ever hear.

"She sounds... older than before. Way older..." Chara admitted.

"May I ask your name, child? I don't think I've ever seen a Knowledge soul before," Toriel admitted, me being confused.

"Knowledge soul? Honestly, miss, this is the first time I've seen it..." I admitted truthfully.

"Well, I am Toriel, the keeper of these Ruins. It's a little dangerous here, so I will lead you back to my home... now, about your name?" she asked.

"Oh, sorry, my apologies. I'm Scarlet Johnson, and I'm in a bit of an out-of-body experience right now, I'm not going to lie... it's hard to explain," I admitted.

"Don't worry, my child, I'll help you out," Toriel smirked as we then went forward some more, me then hearing Chara talk to me.

"Now that the weed is gone, I'll tell you this much. Two of the humans that came down here had a lot of animosity to the monsters... the orange soul of Bravery killed at least 10 monsters in Hotland when he learned what happened to the Cyan soul, as he felt he had to slay the beasts that killed a family member... and the Integrity soul? It was a slaughter... Snowdin was almost completely wiped out before a monster named Chujin and his wife, Ceroba managed to slay her and grab her soul for the king... ever since, humans were treated as if they were dangerous killers, even though the three that came after were anything but," Chara said, her story being far more entertaining than watching Toriel do the puzzles for me.

"The owner of the green soul of Kindness was just that. Super kind and nice. She tried to befriend monsters by baking sweets at Honeydew Inn, but she had to disguise herself as a monster with her soul's powers. After being found by a certain monster who spoke in hands, she was taken to Asgore and slain, which the monsters were shocked that such a kind monster happened to be a human in disguise... then there was the purple soul of Perseverence. He tried his very hardest to reach the capital without getting killed, but he ended up getting slain by a Royal Guard Member in Waterfall, even though he was at best an annoying human, since he always spoke in riddles and rhymes. And finally, the yellow Justice, the only one I was able to speak to, Clover... they were originally here to try and find a way to rescue the human souls, but the monsters softened their edges and the poor cowpoke willingly went ahead and let their life end by Ceroba's blade, not wishing to have a world where the monsters would be trapped... they were more willing to help the monsters escape than any human beforehand... I miss them so much." Chara said, me gawking at how a lot of information was being shared about Ceroba and even mentioning Clover by name!

"Huh... interesting..." I said, which Toriel noticed.

"What is, Scarlet?" Toriel asked, me then finding an excuse by seeing the training dummy and... actually seeing that inside of it was a ghost trying to fuse with it?... It looked so weird.

"Um... I see a ghost in that training dummy... it's so weird, but it's like I can see through a disguise or something," I admitted.

"It must be your knowledge soul. Those with that kind of soul are able to see things most humans and monsters cannot... but in the Underground, some monsters will wish to harm you. Unfortunately, your soul will try to fight back from attack, so you'll need to find a means to pacify the monsters before your soul does them in. Try it out with the training dummy," Tori smiled, me then gawking at that. My soul, upon getting attacked, could hurt the monsters? That meant that I had to avoid damage as much as possible, or I'd end up with blood on my hands!

"Okay, gentle then," I smiled as I then went to the training dummy and smiled at it. "Um... hello there, friend... how's it going?" I asked. The dummy stayed still, but the ghost inside looked to be freaking out. "I'm not dangerous, I promise, mister/misses ghost... if anything, I should be the one who's frightened," I admitted, the ghost stopping the freakout and moving the dummy closer to me cautiously. The ghost then had the dummy touch my face, so as to test the waters, and I stayed perfectly still.

"You... aren't dangerous?" the dummy FINALLY spoke, me smiling at that and that the voice was female.

"I'd rather be a lover than a fighter... I don't even have a weapon on me, other than my hands, which I'd never use to hurt people intentionally," I admitted.

"I... I see... t-thanks for talking to me... I was freaking out a lot... I thought you'd be killing everyone like... like she did..." the dummy said, me smiling at that.

"Who?"

"The blue one... she's the one who turned me into a ghost... a-and then I heard she almost destroyed all of Snowdin... ever since, I've been t-t-terrified of humans..."

"I promise you, miss, that whoever that girl was, she was a minority. In fact, I'm pretty sure that humans on the surface pretty much forgot about monsters being Underground," I admitted.

"Wait... really? Humans don't remember it?" Toriel asked in surprise.

"From what I heard from another ghost when I fell down here, prior to meeting you, Toriel, the monsters were sealed here during the 1300s or beforehand. It's now to 2000's and, from what I saw, the only legends about monsters is that those who climb Mount Ebott never return... but as for me being here? I went to bed in my apartment... and I wake up just outside of the Ruins... some jerk must've threw me down here in my sleep as a prank or hoping to kill me," I admitted.

"Seriously? How much of a heavy sleeper are you?" the training dummy asked.

"Very. The only real way to wake me up when I'm sleeping is by pouring cold water all over me. Other than that, absolutely nothing can wake me up except for me," I admitted shyly and honestly.

"Whoever threw you down here must've known that and used it against you... I'm terribly sorry, Scarlet," Toriel sighed at me with a smile.

"Eh, I dunno. This sounds like quite an adventure. I mean, being surrounded by monsters? Finding out that my soul is one that even you haven't seen before? And knowing that I can now see things that even monsters can't? It sounds like the perfect excuse to have a thrilling adventure," I smiled.

"Now, now, let's focus on getting through the ruins first, little mister adventure," Toriel smiled.

"Yeah, good point. Bye, miss... what's your name?" I asked.

"My name?... Ellie... bye, new friend," she smiled, me nodding as I then left the room and Chara smiled at me.

"Thanks for not ratting me out and just saying it was another ghost... if mom found out... u-um... if Toriel found out I was around, she'd probably faint... please, don't tell her, okay?" Chara asked, me nodding at her.

"Promise," I whispered to her.

"Who are you whispering to, Scarlet?" Toriel asked, me blushing.

"Um... it's hard to describe, but it's some kind of creature that's invisible to you, but I can see... and every time I speak to her, I can see her more clearly," I admitted.

"I see. Be careful, it may be something dangerous," she said, which Chara gained her big black eyes before shaking her head to get rid of them.

"She didn't like being called dangerous. She's actually really helpful, telling me about the different ones that fell down before me," I admitted.

"Really, now? What did she have to say about them?" Toriel asked as she led me through the spike maze next.

"That the orange and blue souls ended up killing a lot of monsters because of them learning that this place killed humans before... and that, the three that came after were all nice and most monsters were surprised by their kindness, especially the green and yellow souls... And that the purple one always spoke in rhymes and riddles. I can't imagine it was fun to listen to that one," I admitted.

"Aw, quite the contrary. He was quite wise for his age, always giving riddles that even I had trouble solving, and I've been around since we've been sealed down here," Toriel admitted.

"Uh, yeah... rule number one of the gentleman's handbook, never question women about their age," I admitted.

"If you're curious, I'm almost 1000 years old, 923 in total," she smirked at me.

"That explains her more strained voice. She'll live to 1500, but her voice will get worse as it goes when she gets past 900," Chara admitted.

"I see... well, is your birthday coming up, Tori?" I smiled.

"Um... well, actually, not for another month... it'll be March 29th when I turn 924," she smirked.

"I hope I can make it," I smiled at her, which Toriel looked at me in concern. "I uh, don't mean to worry you, but I think that, with my knowledge soul, I might actually be able to reach the end and, with the other human souls, get the monsters freed peacefully... that is what needs done, right?" I asked, Toriel nodding at me.

"Yeah... did your ghost friend tell you about the barrier?"

"Yes, she did."

"Ah... and of King Asgore?"

"No, she just said the king... Asgore sounds like a scary name, to be honest." Toriel's sigh was palpable as we reached the room full of columns and she then stopped in place before the final column in the room.

"I'll need to think about this... I'll go ahead to my home in the Ruins. Here, take this spare cellphone so I can check up on your progress through the Ruins. Try to befriend the monsters and be mindful not to hurt them with your soul... your knowledge soul will allow you to rewind time if you get into a tough scrape, so be mindful not to hurt anyone," Toriel said, me then gasping at that as she ran off before I could respond to her question.

"Ack... what? I have the powers of Determination? Saving and loading and all that?" I asked in shock to Chara.

"Yeah. Knowledge souls have the same skills as those of Perseverence, Justice, and Determination, all combined into one. After all, Knowledge is Power, and knowledge souls are the strongest out there, at least thrice more powerful than Determination... that was what my soul was, as you know," Chara said with a sigh.

"Maybe that's why I can talk to-" I was about to say before... I felt some kind of feeling. A ping directing me to where we walked from, me looking down there and seeing that Flowey was at the other end, and he only just appeared and was hoping to spy on me. "Hey, flower! I gotta pee, so you want watered?!" I asked, which made Flowey go underground IMMEDIATELY when I asked him that.

"How... did you know he was there? And that he'd retreat from saying that?" Chara asked as I felt the feeling go away.

"I don't know... my soul felt like it was pointing me to a high amount of determination... and then, I looked and saw that Flowey guy again. Better he doesn't know you're with me, so I sent him packing by grossing him out," I smiled.

"Be honest though, do you need to pee?" Chara asked, me blushing heavily. "Thought so... I'll keep watch for you and make sure no one looks, you go and drain the vein and stuff," she said, me blushing even more. "Look, I've been dead for almost 700 years, I've seen pretty much everything in the Underground, including no-no parts and the like, especially from books. Just... go behind one of the columns and I'll keep lookout for ya," Chara said, me nodding as I then did so, making sure it was the second-to-last column... and after the all-clear, I then relieved myself... here's hoping I didn't have anymore embarrassing moments such as this, considering the Ruins had almost no houses... or so, I would think.
