Black Clover - The Three Brothers

"Luck, you little bastard! That's the last pudding you steal from me in your life!"
"Not likely!"

"You're as cute as an angel. As always, Marie."

"Went a bit overboard with the drinking, major headache..."

"Buffet eating noises"

"..."

"Guess the rumors weren't all that exaggerated after all." Blake tried to joke as he looked at the scene unfolding before him. There was attempted murder, food genocide, a smokey man, an almost naked lady on the couch, and a guy talking to a mirror.

Asta took a step forward. "First impressions are everything."

"I'M ASTA, FROM HAGE VILLAGE! MY AND MY BROTHER JOINED TODAY! GREAT TO MEETCHA!"

"That pudding was delicious, buy more of them for me!"
"It wasn't yours to begin with, asshole!"

"SHUT THE FUCK UP! What if my little sister hears your vulgar crap?!"

"Intense buffet eating noises"

"I got into a contest with some...weird old dude...? How long have I been out?"

Ah, I've been ignored. Asta's face froze to a blank smile.

"Here, try again." Blake creates a small microphone of Communication Magic in front of Asta.

Asta nodded, "Oh, thanks!" clearing his throat.

Here it comes... Blake covers his ears. Taking it as a sign, Yami, Finral, and Gordon do the same.

"I'M ASTA FROM HAGE VILLAGE! IT'S NICE TO MEETCHA!"

Asta's vocals reverberate throughout the room area. Everyone dropped what they were doing as they covered their ears to prevent them from bursting like the wine bottle on the table.

"What the hell was that?!" The one with the black and purple mohawk shouted.

"Haha, my eardrums are ringing..." Said the blonde-haired boy

"Fuck fuck fuck, that just made my hangover 100 times worse!" The woman in nothing but her bra and underwear muttered, covering her head with a pillow to drown out the sound and light.

The man with bangs stared horrified at the mirror that now lay shattered before him. "No! I've lost communication with my darling Marie! WHO DID THAT? I'LL KILL THEM!"

"Agh! I messed up!" Asta jumped back and hid behind Blake in fear.

"Don't worry bout it, Asta, that was my bad. I should've known—Ow! Ow! Ow! Okay, I get it birdie!" He said in response to getting pecked hard by Anti-bird that followed him from the Magic exams. He couldn't figure out why, but he didn't mind.

"All of you, quit your yapping already." Yami spoke, bringing a dead calm over the area, everyone freezing in place at the sound of his voice.

Before they suddenly bombarded the Black Bulls captain with affection, in their own ways.

"MISTER YAMI SIR! Welcome back, boss!"

"Captain, try this! It's so yummy!"

"Captain, fight me today! Come on! Pretty please with Magna's pudding on top?"

The big guy blew smoke out his mouth.

"Welcome back, Captain~. Let's grab a drink."

"Captain, please, I must go see my sister, It's been too long."

Yami shook his head, amused by his team's antics. "Glad to hear you've missed me so much. But it's getting annoying, so can it."

"SORRY!" They spoke, before sitting seiza-style and waiting politely for Yami to continue.

He directed their attention to Asta and Blake. "These are the other 2 noobies we've picked up, don't accidentally kill them."

"I can only imagine the number of bodies you got buried in the back." Blake joked.

"You'd be the 13th." Yami responded instantly, lighting another cigarette.

"Mmph!" That shut Blake up pretty quickly.

Other two? Is there another one? Asta questioned, before moving from behind Blake to in front of the Brigade members. "I-I'm Asta, from Hage, good to meetcha." His voice wasn't as energetic the third time around, not wanting to upset them again.

"Hage? Ain't that the dingy old place way out in the Forsaken Realm?" The man with the sunglasses questioned.

Blake turned toward the man, hesitating for a moment, before walking over to the man and squatting down, narrowing his eyes as he looked at him.

"What the hell you looking at newbie?! You tryna pick a fight?!" The man got into Blake's face, scrunching up his to try and look intimidating.

Blake chuckled. "You haven't changed much, have you, Magna?"

The man's face was painted for confusion for a moment. He pushed down his glasses for a moment, Blake guessed to get a better look before Magna's confusion turned into surprise.

"Blake?! Is that you?!" Magna shouted, rising from the ground.

Blake laughed as he stood back up. "You bet! It's been a while!" He held his hand out for a handshake of bros, Magna accepted in a heartbeat.

"You got that right! It's been like 3 years! Damn, you really grew! The hell have you been eating?"

"3 platters of Pot Potatoes make a boy big and strong." Blake had a goofy smile on his face, flexing his right arm and slapping the peak of his bicep.

"Blake! You never told me you were pals with an actual Magic Knight?!" Asta shouted.

Blake slung his arm around Magna and Magna did the same. "I met this dumbass while running errands for pops over to the other villages. He came up and picked a fight with me 'cause he was trying out for the Magic Knights in a couple of days."

"Hate to admit it, but I got my ass handed to me. Guy didn't even use a single spell!" Magna spoke, scratching his head with a smile.

"I thought he was a pretty funny guy, so after that, we hunged out for the rest of the day. I did that for a couple more days before he went off to the exams and hadn't seen him since." Blake continued. "How come you never told me you made it in? Not even a letter."

"I would've if I knew where you lived! You never told me!"

"I didn't?"

It was Magna's turn to narrow his eyes. "And you call me the dumbass." He then pointed at Asta. "Is this pipsqueak one of the little brothers you told me about?"

"Yup Yup." Blake nodded.

As Magna started talking to Asta, Blake felt a pair of arms wrap around his neck from behind. He twisted his head to see it was the woman with pink hair looking at him with a woozy, but flirty smile.

"Hello?" He looked at the woman quizzically.

"I didn't think someplace so far out in the boonies could have someone so handsome~. What took you so long?" She asked, tilting her head cutely, the scent of wine obvious from her breath.

The sight caused Blake to freeze up a little. He'd been told before that he was considered good-looking, but it had never been in a way like this, so direct and physical. Blake's face became a slight shade of red.

"W-Well, I just wanted to spend more time with my family...and I wanted to be there with my brothers when they took it."

"Aww, aren't you a sweet older brother?" The woman cooed, sliding her way from the back to the front of Blake, staring into his eyes. Or, she would've, if Blake hadn't been avoiding eye contact.

"Coming from the boonies, it must've been a lot of work to become a Magic Knight. You should get a reward, you know? I'd be happy to help~" The woman spoke in her sultry voice.

If his body got any hotter, Blake would need to use Ice Magic till he was absolute zero.

"I...don't even know your name?" Part of him wanted out of the situation, though he couldn't deny another part of him wanted this to continue.

"It's Vanessa, try not to forget it." She responded with a smile, bopping the younger man's nose.

I don't think I could. "Well, Vanessa, maybe we just...start with a drink sometime first?" That's something guys asked girls they were into, right?

"Ohhh, a gentleman. I like the sound of th-"

Vanessa abruptly put a hand over her mouth before turning away and vomiting all over the floor.

Blake stood there awkwardly, not sure of what to do. He settled on just patting Vanessa's back lightly. "Uhm...let it all out?"

"Don't worry much about Vanessa's antics, she gets like that when she drinks a bunch...which is practically 24/7." Finral said as he walked over to Blake.

"Ah, I see." On the inside, Blake felt a little disappointed. Guess it didn't mean much after all.

"BLAKE!"

"WHAT?!" Blake snapped out of his thoughts as he heard Magna shout at him.

"It's time for your two's baptism!"

"OKAY- Wait what?"

Magna pulled on the robe with the Black Bull's insignia draped on his shoulders. "I gotta make sure you two are worthy of wearing these robes! For all I know, you've lost your edge and just sucked up to Captain Yami to get you and your brother on the brigade!"

"A real Black Bulls robe?! So cool! Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" Asta shouted in excitement, reaching for the robe while being kept in place by Magna.

Blake could tell Magna was just trying to find an excuse to do whatever this "baptism" involved, but he didn't mind it and decided to play along. He walked up to Magna, an exaggerated swagger in his step.

"You're talking a lot of smack, Magna. Fine then, let's get it started! You ready, Asta?!"

"I WAS BORN READY!" Asta shouted out, to the whole world really.

"That's what I like to hear!"

Magna had a glint in his eyes, he was excited to see how much stronger Blake got and if his brother lived up to all the praise he gave him.

The baptism commenced at the walkway of the Black Bull's entrance. In the back, all members besides Magna, Blake, and Asta, hung around on the couch brought out for these events.

"Again with these unofficial ceremonies, I was having a nice talk with that guy too...well till I threw up everywhere." Vanessa spoke, taking a drink of the water Blake gave her to help with her headache.

"Aw come on, Vanessa! These are so fun to see! I can't wait to see these guys' strength!" The blonde boy, Luck was his name by the sound of it, responded.

"Sure, kiddo, sure." Vanessa lazily patted the boy's head.

Blake stretched his body as a quick warm-up. He took off his jacket to not be so constricted, his sleeveless white shirt accentuating his muscular arms and overall upper body physique.

"Mmm, not bad." Vanessa mumbled to herself

"Alright, first things up is your physical prowess! 5000 Pushups and Crunches, Go!" Magna ordered.

"You got it!"
"Easy enough."

Blake and Asta blew through the exercises with ease. Barely cracked 20 minutes.

"That's what we do to break a light sweat! You're gonna have to do better than that!" Blake shouted, pointing dramatically at Magna.

"That robe's as good as mine!" Asta shouted.

Magna returned the favor. "Don't get cocky, you punks! There's much worse in store for you two! Like this boulder!" He slapped his hand against the said boulder. "Lift this and keep it above your head for 10 minutes!"

"Alright!"
"Said and done."

Asta and Blake passed this test as well, it was less of a strain for Blake who had incorporated weightlifting into his regiment more consistently than Asta who almost purely focused on bodyweight.

"That's not all! Now you gotta headbutt the boulder and crack it in half!"

"I GOT A FOREHEAD OF STEEL!"

"Hold up! Hold up! Hold up!"

"Huh? What, you gonna chicken out, Blake?" Magna mocked.

Blake huddled up with Magna. "Listen, Magna, bro, my brother already isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. If he suffers blunt trauma to the head, he might start needing to consciously breathe. Let's skip over this one, alright?"

Magna nodded along to his words. "Fine then, just this once, we'll forgo the Headbutt Test!"

"Well, color me surprised, Magna can be reasonable sometimes." Finral commented.

Luck leaned back. "But it would've been so funny to see them crack their skuuuulls." He whined.

"You got a weird idea of what humor is..."

"We passed the test, right?! So give us our robes already!" Asta ran towards Magna, once again reaching out to grab the robe while being held back by Blake.

"Easy, Asta! You're supposed to be friendly!"

"There's one more test left for the both of you! Who wants to go first?!"

"ME! ME! PICK ME!" Asta flailed his arms and legs about.

"That fine with you, Blake?" Magna asked.

"Asta, have at 'em!" Blake dropped Asta and stepped away from the scene, using a spatial portal to take a spot next to Yami and Finral.

"Is it that easy for you?" Finral asked, a little surprised.

"Pretty much." Blake shrugged.

Luck looked excited, though he always has that smile on his face so it's hard to distinguish. "Oh, are you a Spatial Magic user like Finral?"

"In a sense, yeah." Blake replied, if he recalled right, Magna called this guy Luck when he was trying to kill him.

Luck didn't put much thought into Blake's words and continued. "You look pretty tough though, and your mana is off the charts! Finral's pretty weak in a fight, you should let me battle you sometime!"

"I'm not weak! I'm just not suited for offense!" Finral retorted but was ignored as usual.

Blake gave the hyperactive boy a once over, the mana outline around his body was quite thick, signifying he had plenty of mana at his disposal, though not quite as much as someone like Yuno. The outline was also somewhat erratic, so the boy has some difficulty controlling his magic fully. His magic felt similar to Yuno's but also very different, meaning it was a derivative of Wind Magic.

"I wouldn't mind a spar sometime, count me in whenever Luck." Blake held out a fist.

Luck was absolutely elated and returned the fist bump. "Awesome, finally, someone who gets it!"

Yami sighed. Hopefully, that gets the kid off my back for a while.

With Asta, he was getting himself ready to go. "Bring it on! I'll take down whatever you throw at me!"

Magna smirked. "You better hope so, 'cause you'll be dead if you don't!" Magna opens his grimoire, it glows bright red. "I'm going to launch one of my attack spells at you, block or dodge it however you want. Do that and you'll have earned this robe!" He holds out one of the two robes they had for them.

Any way his spell comes, I'll take it down! Asta nodded, opening his grimoire as well, which glowed Black and Red, and pulled out his greatsword. "Yes sir!"

The sight caused the various Black Bulls to gain more interest in the ceremony, even the guy with bangs stopped looking at that picture of his and the small girl wasn't eating anymore.

"Here it comes!" In Magna's hand, he gathered a large source of fire before causing it to condense into a ball small enough to fit into the palm of his hands.

"[Flame Magic: Exploding Fireball]!"

Blake noticed Finral pull out his grimoire. "What are you doing?"

"Getting ready to save your brother, always end up needing to save the newbies." Finral sighs.

Blake smirks and puts a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry about it, you won't need it."

"You sure? Your brother could get pretty banged up..."

"Asta's got this in the bag."

Finral shrugged and put his grimoire away. "Don't say I didn't warn you."

"Alright! Now dodge!" Magna shouted as He hurled the ball of flames toward Asta with all his strength.

Asta had a moment of realization. This is who Blake got the spell from. He then grew a smirk. Just as I practiced with him!

Asta slammed the flat of his sword into the fireball, using enough force to cause it to get sent flying back towards Magna, who got hit dead-on by the fireball, a large explosion and a set of flames occurring as a result.

"Oh man, that was awesome, he actually did it!" Luck spoke, clapping his hands joyfully.

"Wasn't expecting that, the kid's pretty good." Vanessa complimented.

"Huh, guess you were right." Finral said, nodding at Blake.

"We practiced a bunch with that special sword of his. Its edge cuts through magic and the flat of it can block and reflect magic, it's absolutely awesome!" Blake spoke with excitement, becoming starry-eyed.

Yami rolled his eyes. Another magic fanatic, I need to try and keep them from ever meeting.

Asta narrowed his eyes as he stared at the flames ahead, screaming internally. I hope I didn't kill that guy!

"You little runt..."

He took a direct hit and he's still standing?!

Magna's figure became more visible as he walked through the flames and stepped toward Asta.

"I was able to counter barely in time, I almost died to my own magic because of you!"

Scary! Scary! Scary!

He grips Asta by the shoulder, staying silent for a moment, before lifting his head to show an impressed and excited expression.

"You absolutely rocked it! Sending that spell right back at me was gnarly! Nice one, Short-sta!" Magna said, slapping Asta's back in pride.

"It's just Asta!"

"Oh yeah, I remember Blake saying you were born magicless, that actually true?"

"Uh, yeah, unfortunately." Asta scratched the back of his head, embarrassed.

Magna's grin grew wider. "That just makes you even more of a man! He told me how much you pushed yourself to be stronger, I guess all that praise from your big bro was warranted after all! Speaking of whom..."

Magna pointed dramatically toward Blake. "Alright, now it's your turn!"

Blake grew a grin and once again opened a spatial portal over to the two.

"For a Spatial Mage, you were a pretty strong brawler from what I remember back then, I guess you're making up for your weaknesses!" Magna deduced.

"Actually, Blake's-" Asta tried to correct Magna before Blake patted his head.

"Don't ruin the surprise, lil' brother." He whispered low enough so Magna didn't hear him.

"Ohhh, okay. Good luck, Blake!" Asta spoke before stepping through the hole and taking a seat in front of the couch with the Black Bulls.

Luck jumped and landed next to Asta, before sitting down with him. "Hey! Asta, right? That was awesome what you did, we should have a fight to the death sometime, whaddya say?" He spoke with joy as he punched the air in front of him.

The older boy's casual demeanor of trying to have a death match creeped out Asta a little. "N-No thanks, appreciate the offer though!"

"Aww, you're no fun!" Luck whined and lay flat on the ground, head turned to see Magna and Blake.

The petite woman with her dark hair in a bun, leaving 2 strands that frame her face, shoved a large cupcake toward Asta. "Here, here, it's super tasty! You gotta try it! I'm Charmy by the way!"

"O-Oh, thank you, Miss Charmy!" Asta accepted the sweet treat and took a bite out of it, shocking his taste buds beyond belief. "This is so good! We never got stuff like this at the church!"

"Hey, you." Spoke to the man with the bangs that covered his left eye, before holding out a picture to Asta. It was of a little girl wearing a pink dress, waving her hand with an adorable smile.

"Hm? Who's that?" Asta asked as he munched on the cupcake.

"This is my little sister, Marie, she's an absolute angel." He spoke with a low and deep voice.

"Okay...that's cool?"

"Touch her and you die!"

"AHHH!" Asta screamed, crawling back and hitting the back of the couch

"Oh come on, Gauche, lay off the kid, you sister lover." Vanessa replied, wrapping her arms lazily around Asta and leaning forward onto him.

Asta's face became bright red, feeling her breasts pressed on top his head. "M-Miss Vanessa, maybe don't lean on me? Please."

Vanessa cocked an eyebrow before giggling. "The two of you are so easy to fluster, it's pretty cute. Hey kiddo, does your brother have much experience with women?"

"Experience with women? Hmm, he and Yuno were always called good-looking or handsome, but I've never seen him with a girl..." Asta explained. "Why?"

Vanessa grinned and lean back on the couch, freeing Asta. "No reason. Oh, and good work out there kiddo, that was impressive."

"Oh, thanks a lot! I'm sure Blake's gonna do just as good!"

"Alright, Blake, you ready?" Magna flipped through the pages of his grimoire once again.

"Bring it." Blake taunted, beckoning Magna with his hand.

"You asked for it. I'm gonna be a little tougher with ya, let's see you try and block this with your Spatial Magic!" Magna formed another fireball and threw it in an arc. As it reached its descent, it splintered.

Magna smirked. This spell takes my fireball and breaks it into several attacks to cover a wider area, it'd be a pain for him to try and redirect it all with his Spatial Magic, let's see how he handles it!

"[Flame Magic: Exploding Buckshot]!"

The attack descended upon Blake, many explosions occurring one after another. smoke and dust covered the area where he stood.

"That dumbass, did he even try to move?" Gauche mocked.

"I hope he's not too banged up, he won't be able to try the sweets I had for him!" Charmy said.

"Don't worry, he's fine!" Luck responded.

"Huh, you can tell?" Asta replied, turning to face Luck, and almost jumped when he see the boy with an even wider smile. Okay, he was really getting scared by this guy.

"It's weird though...this magic doesn't feel like Spatial Magic, it feels like..."

"[Copy Magic: Black Cocoon]"

The dust and smoke cleared, revealing a Black shell of darkness, which looked practically unharmed against the barrage of attacks it took. The darkness peels away, revealing an uninjured Blake with a smirk on his face. His grimoire glowing Black and Blue.

"He's got a 4-leaf grimoire!" Luck pointed out.

"Seriously? That's amazing." Vanessa said.

"And yet he chose the Black Bulls." Gauche muttered.

"How was that?" Blake asked.

"HUUUUUUUH?!" Magna's eyes almost popped out of his sunglasses before running wildly toward Blake, gripping him by his shirt and shaking him violently. "Now wait just a minute, I know for a fact that's one of Captain Yami's spells! Not to mention the fact you're a Spatial Magic user, so how are you even able to use a Dark Magic spell in the first place?!"

Blake raised a finger and was starting to explain before he suddenly felt a familiar large hand grabs the top of his head, slowly beginning to crush him. "Agh! Ow! Ow! Ow!"

"What'd I say about using my spells, punk?" Yami spoke menacingly.

"T-To be fair, you only said I couldn't use them against you." Blake tried to rebuttal as he attempted to remove Yami's hand, but was having a harder time than before. He was barely trying with Asta!

"And I never said I'd leave a body for them to bury but you don't see me getting into specifics."

"Using my spells? What are you talking about, Yami sir?" Magna asked, confused.

Yami sighed and let go of Blake's head. "The newbie can copy other people's spells for his own use, I figured it was pretty easy to understand."

"YOU CAN WHAT?!" Magna shouted, turning back to Blake.

"Y-Yeah, what Yami said. Way to ruin the surprise." Blake soothed the top of his head.

Magna was silent for a moment. "If that's the case...Asta get your butt over here!"

"Yes sir!" Asta closed the distance in an instant.

"The two of you have proven yourself to be worthy of the Black Bulls! As promised, these robes..." With a surprisingly smooth swipe of his arms, he placed the robes onto Blake and Asta swiftly. "...are yours! Wear them with pride!" Magna shouted with a smile.

"Yes sir!"
"Of course!"

Blake and Asta gave Magna the Magic Knight Salute as the rest of the Black Bulls made their way over the two, having the mostly same interactions as they did with Asta.

"You can use a bunch of different magics! That's like fighting multiple enemies at once! Now we absolutely gotta fight!" Luck spoke, his near unquenchable excitement causing sparks of lightning to occur around him.

"Which do you prefer, meats or sweets? Oh what am I saying, they're both amazing! Here, try these!"

"Don't care what you can do, touch my sister and I'll end you." Gauche threatened, as usual.

Blake was concerned...for himself. Oh no, is that what I sound like?

"Let's top it off with this." Vanessa raised her wand and used her magic to change the stitching of Asta's headband, adding the insignia of the Black Bulls to the left side, across from the red star.

"Woah, that's cool!" Blake took a moment to think, before turning to Vanessa excitingly, putting his hands on her arms. "Vanessa, do the same for me!"

Vanessa was surprised but recovered. She turned her head slightly, with a mischievous smile. "A little forceful, don't you think?" She teased.

Blake's face turned a tint of red and quickly pulled his hands back. "O-Oh, um, my bad!"

Vanessa giggled, she found it a little adorable that a guy of his stature was so bashful. "Don't get so worked up, It's not a big deal. Go on, tell me what you want." She did a little twirl with her wand, finishing it with a wink.

Blake grabbed his black jacket through a portal and began explaining his idea.

"Is that okay?" He asked, a look of anticipation in his eyes.

"Of course, it'll be a cinch!" Vanessa raised her wand once again and began making the minor modifications to his jacket; The long sleeves had been taken away, leaving it looking similar to a duster, with the centerpiece being the Black Bulls Insignia stitched big and proud on the back of it.

"Huh, I think I had something similar when I first started out, kid has good taste." Yami mumbled.

"Awesommmmme!" Blake hummed, slipping the duster on. "I feel like 10 million Yul! Asta, how is it looking?"

Asta flashed a double thumbs-up. "Looking great! Really shows off your arm muscles!"

"Aw hell yeah, super manly!" Magna high-fived Blake.

Blake turned back to Vanessa with a big smile. "Thanks again! I owe ya one, Vanessa."

Vanessa had a glint in her eyes from hearing those words. "Hmm, you did say you'd take me out for a drink..."

As the small group of the Black Bulls was celebrating the arrival of their other two new members, the one who arrived first stood on the balcony, looking down at the scene. She was a young girl with silver-colored hair tied into pigtails, and short bangs falling flatly on her forehead, wearing a fine dress and blazer with the Black Bulls robe on her shoulders as well.

"So...those are the two new members? Brothers from a backwater village; a pest with some strange power and...a 4-leaf grimoire user." The young girl clenched her fist, she couldn't find it possible for someone like him to have magic power like that. It didn't make sense, he wasn't of nobility or royalty, he was like some sort of glitch in nature. She would consider it just stupid luck but, that's the whole point of the 4th leaf.

It must've been nice. She thought. Born with amazing power somewhere with zero expectations of you. He's spent his whole life praised by all the other peasants around him. Never being ridiculed, never being shunned.

Her eyes narrowed watching Blake and Asta interact; So much laughing, so much compassion, so much love, something inside her couldn't bare to watch it any longer. She retreated from the balcony, returning to her room for the night.

So what, Noelle? You're royalty and they're nothing but annoying insects.

"Alrighty! Finishing off the super-awesome tour of the base, I'll be showing you your rooms!" Magna declared as he led Asta and Blake walked through the men's hallway.

After being "officially" unofficially inducted into the Black Bulls, Magna took the brothers on a quick tour of the mansion. There was the large dining hall that could host many more than just the small team of mages, a spacious bathing room, the women's hallway filled with traps for anyone with the wrong idea, then finally, their new rooms.

Between Asta and Blake's rooms, there wasn't much difference. Very dusty, and dirty, and cobwebs were practically everywhere. After showing them, Magna retired for the night himself. Despite the state of their rooms, this didn't stop the short musclehead from glowing in excitement.

"We get our own rooms! No more getting packed into one spot like sardines! Ain't that great, Blake?" Asta asked, furiously scrubbing and dusting all the dirt and grime away.

"Absolutely, I'm glad I won't feel suffocated throughout my slumber anymore." Blake joked. "Hey, how many times bigger do you think the rooms over at Golden Dawn are?"

"I bet they're massive! Probably bigger than the whole church at Hage! Yuno sure is lucky to have gotten picked by them!" Asta stood and wiped the sweat from his brow, having cleaned his room entirely within their small talk. He turned and looked up at the taller musclehead with a typically determined look on his face.

"But even if they're the best Magic Knight Brigade right now, I'm gonna do my best to help this one rise up and stand toe-to-toe with the others on my way to becoming The Wizard King!" Asta spoke.

Blake was pleasantly surprised, Asta could be pretty good with his words sometimes. Hell, he was feeling a little inspired already.

Blake turned away. "I'm gonna get to work on my room and go to bed." As he walked away, the anti-bird flew off his shoulder and set itself upon Asta's desk, next to his dingy grimoire.

"Hey, take your bird with you! That thing's been eyeing me weirdly since the exams!" Asta spoke.

The bird appears to narrow it's eyes at Asta.

"It's doing it again!"

Blake walked over and tried to beckon the bird back to his side, confused by its sudden behavior. However, the bird simply shook their head in refusal and pecked the desk, signifying its intent to stay right where it was.

Blake shrugged. "Very well then, birdy. I'm putting my brother in your care then! Keep an eye on him through the night and make sure no tragedy befalls him! Understood?"

"How's a bird supposed to protect me?!"

The bird stood at attention and responded by mimicking the Magic Knight salute.

Smarter by the minute, it seems. Blake smiled and returned the salute.

He said his goodnights to Asta, who accepted his new bird neighbor in the end and headed off to his room to begin cleaning. Usually, he gets it done old-fashion style but was too tired to be bothered. He first used Wind Magic to deal with dirt and dust, chucking it out the window. Then the Water Magic with soap to scrub the room clean, and then Wind Magic once more to help dry everything off.

After finishing cleaning, Blake removed his duster, shirt, and shoes, then fell onto his bed with a thump. He was surprised by the somewhat soft quality of it and quickly adjusted himself comfortably within it. He sat with his thoughts for a moment.

"It's a literal weight off my chest...but I'm sad it's not there anymore."

Blake turned over and fell into sleep.

"This is where you'll be residing. It's more than you deserve." Klaus said to Yuno.

The room was lavish. Beautiful designs were woven into the room's walls, the highest quality of comfort in furniture, and even their quilts and ink appeared of exquisite design.

Yuno looked on at his superior. He was a couple of inches taller than him with light blue hair and defined facial features, and he wore glasses along with the standard Golden Dawn uniform. He couldn't say the man was the most welcoming of people.

"Tomorrow, I will explain to you your duties as a Magic Knight. I'd prefer not to be stuck as your mentor, but it's Captain Vangeance's orders, so it shall be done. Is that understood, boy?"

"My name is Yuno, not Boy. Is that understood, Klaus?" Yuno calmly snapped back.

Klaus narrowed his eyes at the dark-haired boy. "Watch your mouth. As a superior, you will not mouth off to me and you will address me as Sir. Got it?"

"Loud and clear, Sir." Yuno rolled the word off his tongue.

"Tch, insolent brat," Klaus muttered, before beginning to walk out of Yuno's room. "8 AM tomorrow, don't be late or you will be reprimanded."

"If I may, sir," Yuno called out, stopping the man from walking. "I became a member of this squad through hard work and training my magic as much as I could, just as the other members have. To detest me so much because I wasn't born among royals and nobles is childish."

The man was silent for a moment before continuing his walk. "I don't have time for your nonsense." He left, closing the door to Yuno's room.

Yuno sighed, he feared Blake was rubbing off on him more than he liked. His older brother always had a much more intense disliking of nobles and royals than the rest of them, he never could figure out why.

He could tell most of the other Brigade members didn't think positively of him, whether it was simply to ignore him or even openly scowl and look at him in disgust. He didn't bother worrying about it, what they thought of him was none of his concern and he had more important matters to focus on.

A small knock on his door broke Yuno out of his thoughts.

Who could that be? Did Klaus forget to mention something? Or maybe it was one of the members who wanted to blab about how much he didn't belong here.

Opening his door, he's met with the sight of a young girl, around his age he'd say. She was shorter than him and had long vermillion-colored hair and yellow eyes. She wore the Golden Dawn robe with some sort of puffy sweater underneath it.

"Hello! I heard we had a new member of the squad joining us, so I wanted to give some introductions! I'm Mimosa Vermillion, I'm glad to have you with us!" She spoke in a soft, upbeat tone, with a small smile.

Vermillion? So she's part of the Royal Families. "I'm Yuno." He replied.

Mimosa gave him a small nod before continuing. "I haven't been with the squad for long myself, only a couple of months actually, but I've enjoyed my time in this squad and the people I've befriended. I hope you're able to feel the same as well!"

Yuno shrugged. "Only time will tell, I suppose. If we're the newest members, it's likely we'll be working together, right?"

Mimosa looked a little surprised. "Oh, I hadn't thought about that, but that does sound likely." She gave him another smile. "If that's so, I hope we make a good team!"

Yuno gave a small nod. "I'll make sure to do my best."

"Same here! Well, it's getting late and I don't wish to bother you much longer. Have a good night, Yuno." She began to walk away, giving a small wave.

He returned the wave. "Same to you, Mimosa."

Yuno closed the door. Huh, a considerate royal. The combination could make Blake do a tailspin.

Yuno walked over to his desk, gazing at the night sky through the window. It was a full moon tonight, it gave the dark sky a beautiful glow. He could remember doing it for as long as he could remember, whenever he was by himself.

Asta, Blake, you'll see. One day, I'll become the Captain of the Golden Dawn, and then, I'll become the Wizard King!
