"Okay...I've now split the formular and the sample should work now," the robot in the white suit with the green dots on it kicked the one corpse away, its foamy mouth leaking again briefly.
Gunar had already arranged the cabin to his liking. Test tubes full of toxic substances that would rival the largest garbage dump lay everywhere. Then the robot looked through the large window where the employees could see the fireworks display that had ended. It also showed most of the fairground, where a few aliens were still wandering around, wanting to make the most of the last few hours before the amusement park closed. The extremist had to grin dirty and exciting again. There were so many tests to be found. The lombaxes were of course his top priority, because he could hardly wait to see how the life in their eyes would go out and his samples would finish them off. "I can't wait to spread my poison," Gunar then turned back to the door and clapped his hands open.
"Come on in, Bróm! I need the last samples!"
The hairy beast with the prosthetics scrambled inside. He barely fit into the hut and panted wildly and violently. The sight of the corpses even made the alien drool before his master intervened, "Ah, ah, ah! First the work, then you get a treat!" Bróm huffed angrily again. Gunar, on the other hand, knew that nothing would happen to him, as he had already prepared himself when he picked up the monster, "And don't think you can just attack me."
A red switch was attached to his chest. This gave off special signals, which would prevent the hairy alien from attacking and keep it under the robot's control. "Now then," Gunar began again cheerfully, "Do you have our miracle juice with you, as I told you to?" Bróm raised his head briefly before making a violent retching noise. In a moment, the beast spat out a pile of large canisters full of the poison the terrorist had concocted for the lombaxe. When it was all out, the robot shrieked happily.
"OH YES! GORGEOUS!"
Gunar then grabbed the beast's hairy head and began stroking it wildly, "WHO'S A GOOD BOY? YOU ARE A GOOD BOY! Who wants his belly rubbed?" The monster didn't need to be told twice and then lay down on his back. The robot stroked his pet's fur like a wild animal again, which breathed a sigh of relief. "GOOD BOY, GOOD BOY, GOOD BOY! Who's a good boy...YES YOU ARE A GOOD BOY!" A few more seconds passed before the extremist stopped and cleared his throat vigorously: "Okay...back to work! I'll use the drink stations to hand in my samples."
He then pointed to the door, which was sign enough for the beast: "And you, my dear Bróm, distribute the gas canisters in the park. But watch out! The lombaxes must not see us doing this, understand?" Although the hairy monster listened to him, his eyes were more focused on the corpses still lying on the ground. When Gunar also noticed where his pet was staring, he rolled his eyes once and smiled slightly: "Okay... you can have ONE piece as an appetizer, but then you have to earn it!" And Bróm snapped his mouth shut and tore out the rotten meat of the employee. After just a few bites, he carefully grabbed the canisters with his mouth and strode towards the exit, where he was cheered on by his owner, "Go on, Bróm! Spread the poison and then we'll take care of the lombaxes!"
The beast ran off on all fours and Gunar grabbed the microphone. His entire voice would be heard in the park, "To all guests! For the rest of the time, all soft drinks are free!" And he was already pouring the liquid poison into the drink dispenser tubes.
"Oh, did you hear that?"
Ratchet had heard the announcement. The hero wouldn't mind a drink now, and apparently neither would the other aliens in the park who were running to the stands. "Hm...do we still have time for that?" Rivet, on the other hand, didn't feel thirsty. She had rather intended to go home, as it was already getting dark and the first lanterns were lighting up. The two robot friends of the lombaxes, on the other hand, remained neutral and continued to follow the couple's conversation, "Come on, Rivet. One more sip and then we'll go, I promise."
"Well... oh well. It can't hurt," the two heroes of the dimension walked hand in hand along the path to the next stand. There was already a queue there, but the orange lombax didn't want to look for another booth, so the four friends joined the queue.
However, Rivet's ear twitched upright.
She heard some kind of noise nearby. Looking around, the rebel could swear she saw an oversized shadow behind the structures. Was she just tired, or was there really something behind it? "Rivet, are you all right," inquired her boyfriend, who now retrieved the absent lombax, "...Yes...everything's okay."
"If you say so. Hey, it's our turn." That was quicker than he thought, but there was another noise. It sounded as if mechanical feet were touching the ground and there was also a rumble. When Rivet looked behind her, she recognized a shadow again from a distance, but this time it was different.
Two red eyes seemed to be looking at her blue ones before the figure quickly moved away again and disappeared. This time she hadn't imagined it. "Ratchet..."
"I finally got mine, I'm so thirsty," the lombax strode away from the stand. In his hand was a cup full of a pink fizzy drink with a fruity aroma. But there was another smell that the rebel knew too well. She had smelled it often enough during her time in the resistance, whether it was against her or against the emperor. An aroma that really had no place in this sweet soft drink that her Ratchet was about to consume.
It was not an aroma. It was poison!
Faster than the eye could see, Rivet knocked his drink out of the hero's hand before he could take the first sip. The pink liquid spilled onto the floor, leaving a streak of green underneath. " What are you doing?" The hero stared indignantly at his girlfriend before she had turned her gaze elsewhere. The large shadow had reappeared and was creeping behind the stand. Once again, Rivet quickly pulled out her normal blaster and fired at the large figure, but it dodged and disappeared again.
But this action had consequences.
The civilians ran away in panic at the sound of the noise, thinking an attack had taken place. In the blink of an eye, the lombaxes and their robot friends were near the booth. "Are you crazy now," Ratchet put her arm down where the blaster was still firmly in her hand, "Why are you just shooting?"
"Ratchet...you got almost poisoned, just like the other people here," the rebel pointed down at his drink. Now the pink liquid bubbled strongly before turning green and etching away the stony ground. The orange lombax now realized that his girlfriend was right and looked around with his blaster drawn, "And just when I thought the day would remain calm." In the midst of their investigation, something quietly climbed up onto the roof of the drinks stand and looked down at the two lombaxes, panting, before Clank caught sight of the mysterious attacker.
"RATCHET, WATCH OUT!"
Rivet had already become active at Clank's outcry. She pushed her boyfriend away before the figure landed on the ground between them. It was a large, hairy monster with prosthetics on its body, which was now screaming loudly at the four heroes. "What's that", The rebel didn't get any further, because suddenly two cannons shot out of the monster's back. This was one of the improvements Bróm had gotten from his master and fired the plasma at the lovers, who quickly escaped the bullets.
"He's not running after us," Ratchet turned his head back questioningly. The beast had disappeared and the heroes were back in the middle of the parker, where there was still not a single other soul to be found. Rivet looked all around, his weapon loaded and ready for action when the beast struck again, "Yes...someone must have commanded him...and spread the poison!"
"Do you think he poisoned... all the guests here," Kit said, full of concern, before a mechanical clapping sound could be heard.
"Bravo! The test has begun," the culprit stepped forward.
The robot in the white suit stood on one of the attractions just in front of the couple. Gunar's green eyes stared intently at the lombaxes, who finally caught sight of the extremist, "Let me guess. You're one of the Heavy Vikings too."
"Glad to hear you sound so happy," the terrorist took out his clipboard again, "So, you haven't had any of my poison yet?" "What do you want from us," the rebel now angrily stated, whereupon Gunar pranced around the rooftops. "Well firstly, I want the malfunction," he pointed at Clank, who immediately raised his optics, "Luckily the poison doesn't work on robots...and secondly, I want to watch you both die!" At this statement, the pair were already on alert.
This robot seemed to be a different caliber than the others before it.
"Do you understand me when I say it gives me pleasure to watch squishies die?" Gunar's grin widened as he recalled all his victims in the past, "How the life disappears from their eyes...the agonizing screams of pain I cause...and the stench of the body bags after this treatment...simply delightful!"
"You're disgusting," Ratchet said in disgust before he and Rivet pointed their blasters at the robot, "You'll only get Clank if you get past me!" The lombaxes aimed menacingly at the robot, who then raised his finger.
"Ah, ah! Four against one is unfair..."
A loud whistle sounded. After this, the mechanical footsteps could be heard again, getting louder and louder and seemingly heading towards the couple. And then it happened. Bróm stepped forward and grabbed the orange lombax with his iron jaws before running with him to another part of the park. "RATCHET," Rivet shouted after her boyfriend, who was dragged away from the beast screaming and disappeared behind the next attraction. "Let them fight, pumpkin," Gunar squinted again and turned his back on the rebel, "Catch me if you can!"
By then he was already leaping from stall to stall before Rivet and Kit took up the chase. The female duo strode deeper into the fairground in search of the poison-mixing robot with the green iron hair. "Is Ratchet going to be okay," Kit asked worried. The orange lombax and her silver counterpart had to take on the monster, while the white lombax had to deal with the psychopath, "Don't worry, Kit. These two have been through a lot and they'll beat this thing..."
"WATCH OUT," and then something slammed at the rebel's feet.
But it hadn't sounded like something made of metal or an obstacle. Rivet stared in shock at a body that had hit the ground. The alien was affected from head to toe by some strange, dark green substance and there was a huge hole in its stomach and throat. The person must have been dead before the impact. "Rivet...it's even worse," Kit pulled up the blue optics in fear before the rebel heard something new in her ears.
"W...WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME!"
"HELP...MY INSIDES ARE BURNING UP!"
"IT HURTS SO MUCH..."
The cries came from all directions. The guests who ran away hid here. Everyone was affected by the dark green substance, had the pink liquid lying in front of them and their bodies were openly corroded. The aliens collapsed, fell apart or were completely eaten away by the substance. Rivet raised her eyes and looked in horror at this terrible spectacle before a civilian came from the side and grabbed her prosthesis. "Help... me..." were his last words before the substance on him separated his head from his shoulders. Almost frightened, Rivet stepped away from the corpse, "Is that...some kind of fungal infection?"
"Rivet...it gets worse," Kit's words sounded almost tearful.
"Mommy..." a child whose left arm was affected by the fungus tried to shake his mother awake, who had already been killed by the poison. "Please...wake up," then the child herself collapsed. That was too much for the female duo. The sight spread fear and terror before a sobbing sound rang out. The robot stood on the top entrance of a roller coaster as he played wiping his tears, "This is...beautiful!"
"You...you're a monster," admitted the yellow robot girl attached to the rebel's back, to which her statement only gave Gunar a chuckle, "How nice of you! Kettil didn't want to send me at first, exactly because of something like that!"
The extremist presented his work with both arms open, "My perfect poison is finally finished. I've already put an end to many villages and spread agony with it. First it corrodes your innards and then your flesh collapses. The fungal infestation is a nice bonus if the affected ones survive the acid!" Like a teacher, Gunar then raised his finger and happily closed his optics, "I've been inspired by many poisoners in the galaxy! Sure, it's not a forgetfulness serum, or bursts into flames...but it's quite enough for my amusement. It...kills the meatbags and I've done an excellent experiment."
Then Gunar cleared his throat again and bowed proudly to the two heroines: "Of course I also have a stage name. Call me... GREEN FIELDS!"
Those words. The robot's gruesome manner made the rebel clench her fists. Kit could also feel Rivet's growing rage brewing. The dead aliens nearby didn't help either. The white Lombax lady now stared at the grinning robot poisoner with a hate-filled gaze, whereupon she even presented her sharp fangs, "When I'm done with you, then..."
"OH YES! PUNISH ME, TRY TO FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE," Gunar shot a rope out of his sleeve and took flight again. Rivet and Kit, with the rebel pulling out her hammer, immediately ran after the terrorists. She had let the others get away, but this one would not. First Rivet would take care of Gunar, then she would rescue Ratchet as quickly as possible, who would fight Bróm in the meantime
The rebel took it upon herself to kill this piece of scum!
