3 years after The High Five inherit Gregarious Games.

Parzival was laying over his mentor's lap, about to recieve a spanking for his messy Lair.

The All-Knowing Wizard, was a giant of a man. He was nearly 9 feet tall... while Parzival's 9 year old Avatar wasn't even 3 and a half feet. Compared to the man's sheer height, he felt more like a freaking toddler.

Parzival fit so perfectly over Daddy Halliday's thick thighs, with his little boy legs and arms barely dangling over. He was just so freaking tiny in comparison. Halliday's very hand was larger then Parzival's whole butt!

Z was so insanely scared, as he realized just what the size difference meant for his poor bottom. He was glad, they were at least in the boy's own lair, as opposed to Halliday's.

Halliday had all his own furniture proportional to himself... so Parzival legitimately felt like a toddler with how big everything was. At least here, everything was normal people size. Parzival still felt tiny... but the right amount of tiny.

The boy couldn't help but squirm in anticipation. Knowing his grey backside was about to become very VERY red.

Parzival still didn't know why he did things like this. Wearing a child's Avatar, letting Halliday spank him.

He felt horrible, that he even WANTED to walk around as a kid... Z had grown up poor and isolated. His only friends had been in the Oasis... his aunt had been great, but she had a long line of hard loving losers. None of those jerk-offs had made for a good father figure...

but Halliday... he was Parzival's idol. And Z never could wrap his head around the idea that the older man would take him on, as his proper apprentice.

Needless to say, Parzival was mortified when Halliday caught him, running around in a child's Avatar. Yes the moment they inherited the Oasis, Z began introducing new concepts, like "Mentors" being an official relationship status.

Parzival changed things to make it so players could adopt other players... but he didn't want anyone to know, he set it up like that for personal reasons... that he made it mandatory, to wear child Avatars, in colleges, all because he WANTED to be able to do it...

Halliday seemed surprisingly understanding. And even expressed similar taste as a "Caretaker"... realizing Parzival's ultimate fantasy, by asking if it be okay if Halliday could begin pampering the boy.

Later, when Aech Discovered Halliday and Z's lifestyle... Z was terrified how his best friend would react... but turns out... The Cyborg Avatar kinda loved it. Aech even expressed an interest in "baby sitting".

Z did a lot of role playing with both of them. Stuff like being Z's "Daddy" and "getting a letter from school" about how the boy had been bad... it did suck that most of their Role Plays involved Parzival getting spanked, put in time out, or forced into a diaper (which he hate hate HATE, but "Daddy" Halliday could convince him to do anything). Seriously, like all their Role Plays involved Parzival getting punished at some point.

But they also consisted of them playing with vintage videogames or action figures. Playing sports, like Quidditch, or even something as simple as catch. Giving Z pretend swimming lessons, or bike lessons. Reading bedtime stories. It was amazing.

Then Halliday decided he wanted to be Parzival's Mentor. Z was more okay with that, as "Sidekicks" were popular even outside age players. But from then on, their games were real.

Halliday then set up real rules (like a bedtime), which he explained, right from the start, that if Parzival broke any of them... He would punish the boy for real. Parzival had to admit, the idea thrilled him as much as scared him.

These past few months had been great... until Art3mis found out.

"What the hell is going on!?" A voice raged.

Looking up Parzival expected to see his savior. Given he didn't accept any invites to his lair, he half expected to see God Mod.

That Optimizer was the personal AI of Parzival and Halliday... and would sometimes rescue the boy from an unwarranted tanning, as the Optimizer had before. Even if Parzival did kinda deserve this one, the boy could still hope.

... but it turned out to be the last person any of them wanted, to catch them in this situation.

Art3mis looked as equally devastated as disgusted.

Parzival quickly jumped off Halliday's lap, pulling down his Pokemon shirt, to cover his front... despite not currently having anything down there. As his child Avatar was "Safe for Work".

"This isn't what it looks like!" Z yelped.

"It's bad enough your cheating on me!" Art3mis screamed.

"I'm not!" Parzival tried to explain, but she wasn't hearing it.

"But did you have to get in this freaky ass shit!" She glared down at her boyfriend, in a child's Avatar. Parzival wilted at the level of revulsion in her eyes... but didn't expect what came next.

"I should have known something weird was going on," She sneered. "with all those bizarre features you sneaked into the Game Mechanics. I should have known it meant you two were god damn Pedophiles!!!"

Before Parzival could even get angry, that she compared him to something so vile, she put her hands to the sides of her head. It happened so quickly he had no time to stop her... she disappeared in a puff of Pixels, having logged out before he could say anything.

As the years passed:

Art3mis had come into Z's lair that day, to surprise him. Or rather, to catch him off guard. Shamefully hacking her way in, so that she could confirm for herself, just what Halliday and Z were getting up to.

She had been worried Z might be cheating on her, with how much time he was spending with Halliday. Yes, they all idolized Halliday, but recently Parzival listed Himself as Halliday's "Sidekick"... and that got her worrying just what their relationship was.

The relationship status was fairly new, so it could mean anything. But it implied some kind of deep connection, all the same.

She wanted to know just what it meant. But what she actually learned was so much weirder.

The fight continued for days after that incident. Where Parzival tried to explain what Halliday really was to him. But it just resulted in long drawn out arguments.

Unfortunately... Z had no answer for her... Halliday was... different... he meant a lot to him. It wasn't romantic, in any way, he kept insisting that, but Parzival couldn't justify it... or even explain it well...

Art3mis decided to keep it to herself, why she broke up with Parzival. She was ashamed to confess she fell in love with a "deviant". But eventually, as Child Avatars got more accepted. She gained a greater understanding of how those relationships worked... and realized Z had been telling the truth. That his relationship with Halliday was platonic. However weird.

It had taken decades for her to understand their wasn't anything sexually deviant about what Halliday and Z did... yeah it included spankings, and kisses to the cheek, but as time marched on, and age players began to become more popular.

Partly due to Z's influence, but mostly due to Halliday actively working to make all sorts of fetishes more accepted.

Then, once kids stopped being born, the ground work was already laid. It was already seen as a normal coping mechanism. For a less then ideal childhood. An attempt to get back what was lost, or outright taken.

Z was the way he was... because he'd been hurt... and Art3mis shamed him for it.

Regardless, Art3mis was adamant that Z should have discussed it with her. Preferably BEFORE ever agreeing to Halliday becoming Z's "Daddy". She actually called Halliday his "Daddy". It was very deliberate, to show she better accepted the boy.

However, they never got back together, as too much hurt had been done on both sides... but... eventually... they were able to resume their friendship.

CODEX : Parzival's Backstory .

Everyone knew everything, about Parzival. They freaking taught his history to school children. With multiple movies focused on Z's life. It was kinda hard not to know about "The First to the Key"... but knowing the real thing... just enforced the real life tragedy of it all.

He really was named "Wade Watts", because his dad was a dork, and thought it sounded like a Superheroes secret identity. Like Peter Parker, or Bruce Banner.

Wade was born to a couple of dumb teenagers, soon after all the small towns had been deserted. His parents had been some of those refugees. Living in "the stacks", a place where all the trailers and RVs people used, to get to the big cities, were literally stacked on top of each other.

Just a few months, after Wade was born, his father was shot to death, while looting a grocery store, during a power outage... Apparently the man had been mostly trying to steal diapers, and other necessities he struggled to afford.

Parzival's mother, Loretta, had to get two full-time jobs after that. Both, in the Oasis. By Day, She worked as a telemarketer... but by night... she wasn't anything as glamorous as a caped vigilante... she was a virtual escort.

Loretta introduced her child to the Oasis, at a young age, as a means of babysitting him, while she worked.

There, Wade played various games, watched nearly every movie and show in existence, and learned all kinds of useful life skills. Including his tech savviness.

When Wade was 11, his mother died from a drug overdose. Which is sadly, too often the fate of those that struggle with drug addiction, as she did.

After that, Wade moved in with his aunt, and her "Endless stream of hard loving losers"... one thing the vids didn't know, was these men were often abusive to both his aunt and himself... in more ways then one.

Wade dived further into the Oasis, often as an escape from his crappy life.

His aunt tried her best to take care of him... but that mostly meant hiding him in one of the neighbors homes, when her Boyfriends were feeling particularly brutal.

The neighbor was a friendly cat lady... who may have been a tad overly enthusiastic about her religious beliefs. But unlike the Stereotypes, she was actually a good person. Even realizing the bible didn't actually teach anything against Homosexuality, directly, as she actually bothered to read the thing.

Most of Wade's waking hours, were spent in his secret hideout. A van, within the junk yard of cars, that got abandoned after gas became too expensive, and everyone in the city switched to electric... which, given how often the batteries of those things need to be replaced, wasn't actually any better for the environment.

At first, Wade attended school in the real world. But then volunteered to go to school in the OASIS. A new phenomena at the time.

However, he didn't have enough money to do anything else. Wade was often bullied by the richer students at the school. Since he only wore the default options for clothing. The kids quickly picked up, that meant he was too poor to buy literally anything else. However, since it was a no PvP zone, he was safe from injury... and learned to wield his words as hard as any fist.

Wade largely slacked off during school. However, he still earned enough credits to graduate.

In his spare time, Wade obsessed with Halliday's Hunt for the ultimate "Easter Egg". Learning everything he could about not only pop culture, but Halliday's life.

This is how he met his best friend, Aech, a Mod Designer, and virtual mechanic.

Later, he met his first girlfriend... Art3mis, a well-known Gunter, sharing a common interest in Halliday's history. However, EVERYONE knows how that ended.

But they started out, really hitting it off. Together, they studied Halliday's life, and learned of all the regrets the man had.

Including his unrequited love for Ogden Morrow's wife, Kira... and losing Morrow as a friend, after forcing him to sign away his part of Gregarious Games.

Parzival and Art3mis formed, what was supposed to be, a temporary alliance with Aech, Daito, and Sho. The other winners of the first challenge in "The Hunt for Halliday's Easter Egg"... or at least, the players that weren't working for I.O.I at the time.

Parzival and his new allies completed the second Challenge together. Forming strong bonds as they worked on the puzzle.

Within a few months of working together, and just before the "Battle for the Oasis", they decided to "Clan up". As they had become close friends, and wanted to make their final stand, as an official team.

They called themselves "The High 5"... based on a running joke that everyone refused to give Parzival high fives... and a bit of a pun, considering there were 5 of them.

During the battle, which consisted of nearly every player in the world, going after I.O.I. . . . well I.O.I. activated an artifact, to kill all Avatars on the entire planet, where the final challenge took place. Including themselves.

Respawn took less time, back then, and they were hoping they could get back to the planet, before anyone else.

Unfortunately, for them at least, though extremely fortunate for the rest of the world, Parzival had scored an Extra Life. So he had more then enough time to complete the 3rd, and final, Challenge.

After, Parzival, apparently, won the third task. A gateway opened to Halliday's AI. Where the boy was given a contract to sign. However, Wade recognized it as the same contract, Morrow signed to turn over his part of Gregarious. Parzival refused, saying he won't make Halliday's mistakes...

Now that moment... is rather iconic, although the vids do make it a bit more grand, with an added speech about the importance of Friendship. That didn't actually happen in real life.

The AI reveals that the contract was the final test and, after talking with him for a while, gave Parzival "the Golden Egg" and control of OASIS.

Once Wade returned to the real world, Morrow appears, having tracked them down during the beginning of the final challenge.

Morrow offered Wade his services. Which the teenager gladly accepted. Wade decided to run OASIS, with the other members of the High Five.

Parzival and Art3mis, decided to get an apartment, together. They dated for a little over three years... even got engaged at one point... but that all came crashing down, when she discovered Parzival is an age player.

But Parzival's life did work out... until the world ended. Then it only got better...
