Prologue: Creation

Where do we start?

4.54 Billion years ago the earth formed. No, it wasn't created by some deity (I think), and no dinosaurs were even CLOSE to around yet. Adam and Eve aren't a thing. Trust me.

In fact- Earth wasn't a very fun or heavenly place at all. It was all molten, and orange. Volcanic gasses and a primitive atmosphere. A world with no oxygen. No life.

It remained this way for another 54 million years. A burning world, a burning ocean, and a burning system of primitive planets and a sun . . . ah the sun was formed already.

And then the world stopped burning. At least- the ocean did. Ahhhh the ocean. The primordial soup of which we were all created. The essence of all life. And the essence of one life in particular that would go on to change everything (for better and for very very worse).

A single, Unicellular organism. Blue in color and so microscopic, it could not be seen with the naked eye. For you bible readers this would be your 'adam' I suppose. But we will call it . . . . . The G Cell. The first organism ever created on planet Earth.

Around this G cell, other organisms sprouted. Some are similar in color, some very very different. But none- quite like this one.

For quite some time, it just- floated in the soup of the ocean. Simply existing to exist. To make way for life itself.

But then- it started to . . . Shake?

The Little G Cell began to shift and struggle, against what? Likely it's its own evolution.

And after all that writhing and shivering- another g cell came from it. Right next to it- no- CONNECTED to it.

In a matter of however many years it's been in existence, it's become the first MULTICELLULAR organism on planet Earth.

And it didn't stop with two.

Soon enough two more cells sprouted from the two already in the water, and it became four. Then soon after four more came from that. And eight more after that. And sixteen more after that.

Other cells multiplied, but none multiplied faster than these G Cells.

It took a long time for it to happen, but eventually, when the g cells finished forming they became something. A Small, tadpole-like creature. No bigger than an inch long.

This creature had a paddle-like tail, and no arms, legs, eyes, nose, or mouth. But it did have gills.

These gills that it could take its first breaths of primordial oxygen. And it was very very . . . . bitter. But hey at least it was keeping it alive.

It thrashed its little tail and began swimming. And though it started slow, it soon found out it was quite the speedy little creature. Zipping this way and that.

It also found it had an- interesting sense. A DESIRE even. To get to a specific destination. Where this destination was, not even it knew. But it soon found itself speeding towards it.

As time went on, this little creature began growing . . . hungry. Very hungry. And with no organic matter or organisms to consume, it began to search harder for this destination it felt tugging him. Hoping perhaps, its hunger would be satiated there.

It would satiate that, and more.

When the creature got to the location, it immediately stopped and floated. What seemed to be a primordial source of radiation would be opened up and almost inviting the little famished tadpole. And who was it to decline?

As it approached- things began to happen to it. Its body grew for one. Growing from 1 inch to 2 and from 2 to 3 and so on.

Another thing that began happening is a slit began to form on its face, forming a mouth. A toothless mouth- but it didn't need teeth for what it was about to do.
To the naked human eye, it seemed to be simply floating in the water with its mouth open. But to it- radiation was pouring into it by the dozen. Making it grow, satiating it's hunger- and evolving it further and further.

At around 12 inches in length, it gained, nearly cat-like ear appendages which helped it hear for the first time. At 24 inches it gained two slits on its snout that acted as a nose. And it kept gaining as it grew- Eventually gaining arms, legs, and a longer tail (though it kept its paddle-like shape).

And approximately 24 hours later we were hardly looking at the same creature. Though its skin kept the same pale and soft-scaled texture as it had in its tadpole form, it looked more like a bipedal lizard than anything. Its arms were Medium-sized, with three fingers and a thumb-like appendage, and its legs were long and somewhat thick at the thighs. Its mouth had small needle-like teeth, and its tail was as long as its body and floating behind it- but the most noticeable change was how BIG it was now.

If it stood upright it would be approximately 10 feet tall, and reach a length of 20 feet in length. Bigger than most of you humans in the present day no? Well, size back then when everything else was still evolving just meant it could take in more radiation. And take in more radiation, it did.

This process continued for days. Weeks. Maybe months. Until eventually- the source of this radiation was simply- used up. And by then this creature, far from the cute little tadpole it had been, needed to travel again. It wasn't hungry now . . . but it might be soon.

The land was still rock. Still fire, volcanic mountains, and magma pools all around. Not a good place for an amphibious creature. In fact- I believe anything normal that stepped onto these rocks would catch on fire.

But nothing normal was coming from the sea.

The water rose, falling from several meters in the air as something big- something MASSIVE started moving from it. Something with webbed frog-like feet and hands. Something with smooth amphibious skin, gills, no eyes, and no lungs.

The creature as seen before could be seen in all its glory. Standing at an astounding 12 meters tall and being over 25 meters long, it was much bigger than any creature alive today. Unfortunately for it- it was also alot less durable.

The moment its feet touched the primordial grounds . . . . it let out its first sound

A screech of pain.

Its gills burned. It's body burned. Everything burned.

It was on fire.

It, not having a proper brain and only recently developed nerves, didn't know to go back in the water. Perhaps it would thank itself for that later but for now, it suffered.

It crashed onto the ground, burning its already fiery skin even further. Breaking into a writhe that only served to hurt it more. But . . . it did not die.

For minutes- it seemed to go through this tortuous pain, the fire consuming its flesh . . . until it started to dim.

It was slow, but semi-recognizable to the suffering creature. The glow of the flames slowly began to die down and be replaced with the charred black of its skin. Slowly but surely the flames went out and the ground no longer scorched it.

It slowly began to stand up. Its burns caused it immense pain, and charring the once pale creature a blackish grey. And yet even as I say this- the pain seems to be lessening. The burns remained- but it would currently not be suffering much longer.

Something else was happening too. Its skin- the charred places of skin, as hard and rough as most charred things would be would begin to spread across its body. Spreading across every inch, every once soft and pale scale. Turning its entire being black as the volcanic rock below. Its skin- is now tough like a natural coat of heat-resistant armor.

It had adapted to the heat.

Its ever-evolving body wasn't done here, however. As two slits began to appear on the side of it's half amphibious, half-cat-like face. Widening a bit- before stopping.

And opening.

Eyes. White eyes that allowed it to see the burning world around it. Pale eyes that hold no intelligence yet. Pale eyes- that began forming pupils and irises. Black and Gold respectively. As the eyes began to develop something else did within its previously empty head.

A proper brain. With nerves and thoughts and all the things a brain would need.

And as the eyes and brain finished forming. The creature would- stand still. Staring at nothing for a moment. Before turning it's eyes. To the left. To the right. Up. Down.

It would move now. Feeling its previously soft webbed feet- now hard and grey, but still webbed on the hot black rock. Taking one step. Than another.

It would take breaths. Breaths from its newly formed LUNGS that allowed it to breathe even the toxic air of this new world.

It would clench its hands, rotate its arms, swish its tail, swivel its neck, and blink its eyes. Recoating them in wet fluids. It was like it was testing its body- like a being that hadn't felt before, was feeling, breathing, and seeing for the first time. Which it was. It very much was.

And then it inhaled, taking a deep breath of earth's oxygen- a very deep breath.

And it roared. It roared for the world to hear. To mark the first being in the history of this big and deadly world.

This bitter bitter world.
