Chapter 67: Hearth's Warming Eve
While the town was busy getting repairs started, Spyro and all his friends went to the Gummi Garage to speak in private where no one could listen to what they were going to talk about as the appearance of another Keyblade was a surprise to Spyro and his friends. After making sure they weren't followed and no one was listening in, he pulled up a few chairs for everyone and sat down together, focusing on their new friend.
"Alright Rosy Hearts, time for some answers." Spyro said. "Who are you and why did you help us?"
"As I said, I'm Rosy Hearts." She replied. "Rosy to my friends, and I'm the master of Fire and Nature Magic and a Force user."
"And how do you know what the Force is?" Twilight asked. "Spyro is the only one we know that can use its power."
"I learned about it through my father." Rosy replied. "He taught me everything I know."
"Wait, your father?" Spyro asked. "Your father taught you? How?"
"He knew everything about the Force." Rosy replied. "He taught me to let go of my fears and to see through the Force."
"Wait, what?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"He taught me to feel everything through the Force." Rosy replied. "Taught me that, even without my eyes, the Force would guide me. And it was at the same time that I started to learn how to wield a weapon, trained through the ways of the Force to fight off any who would bring harm to me and my family."
"And how did you get your Keyblade?" Spyro asked. "Did you inherit it?"
"No, it chose me." Rosy replied, confusing them. "A Keyblade can choose its master as long as their hearts are pure and strong. Mine came to me when I was twelve years old when a bunch of Heartless surrounded me. Thanks to my father's training, I managed to dispatch them easily.
The room was silent for a few minutes, eveyrone processing what they were hearing while they just looked at the blind Keyblade bearer, still surprised to see another Keyblade bearer and Force sensitive in Equestria, believing Spyro was the only one to be in the peaceful land.
"So, where do you come from?" Fluttershy asked. "If you don't mind me asking."
"Not at all." Rosy replied. "I was born in Trottingham, though I never lived there as 'High society' ponies would look down on me, consider me a mistake and my parent's should have left me in an orphanage. But they didn't and moved away from Trottingham to someplace else, though I can't remember the name, they cared for me. At least, for the first few months."
"What happened?" Spyro asked.
"Our house in the new village was attacked." Rosy replied. "I was still a baby, but I can still hear those screams. The destruction and tearing of fabric and skin. And I could still feel the spray of water on my face, and somepony shouting something, but I can't remember it."
"Ya'll are an orphan?"Applejack asked.
"I was, yes." Rosy replied. "But I was then found by someone else, who brought me to another village and left me on the doorstep of a house, which another family took me in, adopting me and loving me like I was their own child."
"I'm... I'm sorry." Spyro said.
"Don't be sorry my friend." Rosy said. "Even though I didn't know my birth parents, I was told they loved me and protected me. And with the sounds and touches I remembered, I believe him."
"Ya'll are a strong mare, that's for darn sure." Applejack said, walking over and putting her hoof on her shoulder. "If ya like, we can add ya to the herd, if that's alright with Spyro. We could use an extra key around here."
"I'll think about it AJ." Spyro said. "For now, welcome to Ponyville."
After he said that, he placed his hoof on her shoulder and she instinctively reached up and held it, smiling as she felt his hoof, which Spyro found a little odd as not only did he notice that, he also felt how happy she was, sensing her feelings and seeing her heart was filled with light and didn't notice any darkness in it at all, wondering who she really was and if she was telling him the full truth, sensing she was holding something back. Before he could get anything else out of nowhere, a circular table dropped from the air and landed in front of them, on it was a cake with glasses full of punch and seven plates around it right as music started to play.
[Pinkie Pie]
'Welcome, welcome, welcome,
A fine welcome to you!
Welcome, welcome, welcome,
I say how do you do!?
Welcome, welcome, welcome,
I say hip, hip, hurray!
Welcome, welcome, welcome,
to Ponyville todaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!'
"I was wondering when you were going to do that." Spyro said, not even surprised.
"What is this?" Rosy asked, putting her hoof on the table and feeling all around it.
"Why it's your party silly!" Pinkie replied. "Everypony new to Ponyville gets one! Though I had to remake your cake as it was stale by the time we finally got to talk to you."
"This... is for me?" Rosy asked in delight. "Thanks Pinkie Pie."
"You're welcome." Pinkie replied. "Though I wish I would have invited the entire town, but I think they're busy rebuilding the town right now, so it's just us! Let's party!"
Everyone cheered as Pinkie turned the music on as they started to play some party games and to dance like there was no tomorrow while in the Gummi Garage. As they partied, Spyro was the first to play 'Pin the Tail of the Pony,' which he was given a rule not to use his Force powers and Rosy would be keeping an eye on him if he did, just missing the flank of the paper pony while someone else had a turn before they started to do the conga line, dancing to the music and pulling a few pranks, courtesy of the Three Prankateers. After a while, the sun was starting to set, so they began cleaning the place up, which the Gummi Garage was capable of doing as it already had dustpans and brooms, sweeping up all the confetti and streamers while everyone else went outside.
"That was so much fun." Rosy said. "I never had a party like that before in my life."
"And that's why they call me the Party Master!" Pinkie said, bouncing up and down in excitement. "Hey, wanna come to the Hearth's Warming Eve celebration in Canterlot? It's only in a few days."
"The what?" Spyro asked.
"Hearth's Warming Eve celebration." Twilight said. "It's the celebration of the founding of Equestria when the three pony tribes came together. The princess invited us to participate in the reenactment of the founding of our home."
"Hey, I can get behind that." Spyro said. "When do we leave?"
"It's this Sunday." Twilight replied. "Everyone here has a role, according to the princess. She expects everypony there before the celebration begins so we can get ready for the play."
"Heck yeah, this is going to be great!" Rainbow Dash said.
"I agree, this is going to be fun." Spyro said. "Well, might as well get to bed as it's getting dark out."
"Wait, what about Rosy Hearts?" Fluttershy asked, everyone turning to her. "Where do you live?"
"Well, that's the thing, I've mostly been sleeping outside in a tent." She replied.
"WHAT!?" Everyone shouted.
"Ya mean to tell us ya'll been living in Ponyville for two weeks in a tent!?" Applejack asked. "Well hot dang hun, if we had the room, Ah'd invite ya to live with us. The only guest room we have is currently occupied by our resident Prince."
"She can stay with me." Twilight said, making everyone look to her.
"You sure about that Twilight darling?" Rarity asked.
"Oh it's fine." Twilight replied. "I got a spare bed I can set up and it'll be good to have somepony else to talk to besides a baby dragon. Plus, it'll be good to have another pony to help me out in the library."
"It's the least I can do for you Ms. Sparkle." Rosy said.
"Oh, you don't need to call me Ms. Sparkle, that's my mother." Twilight replied. "Call me Twilight."
Rosy smiled at her and nodded her head, going with Twilight as they went back into town with the rest of their friends, heading home for the night right as Spyro and Applejack walked into the farm house and got ready for bed, but Spyro was still troubled by Rosy and her sudden appearance as, even though she didn't seem to have any darkness in her heart, she was Force sensitive and her adoptive father teaching her how to use the Force, was what disturbed him the most. He decided to keep a close eye on her for the time being as there were too many red flags and not enough explanation for any of it. As the days went by, Hearth's Warming Eve was tomorrow and everyone in Ponyville was invited to watch the play and everyone was excited, everyone talking about the play tonight while Spyro was looking out the window, letting everyone chat away while he kept sneaking glances at Rosy Heart, still curious about their new friend.
"Hey Spyro, whatcha doing?" Scootaloo said, she and her friends coming to him.
"Oh, hey Scoots." Spyro replied. "Just watching three snow fall outside. Winter is one of my favorite seasons." He then looked up and saw Rarity was wearing what appeared to be a Christmas tree on her head, complete with a few ornaments, tinsel, and a star on the top. "And what's Rarity doing wearing a Christmas Tree on her head?"
"What's a Christmas Tree?" Apple Bloom asked.
"It's a special decoration families set up for one of the most celebrated holidays of the year; Christmas." Spyro replied.
"What's Christmas?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"You don't... Oh, right, you don't know what Christmas is." Spyro said. "Well, I guess I can tell you all about Christmas... and about Santa Claus."
"Who?" Scootaloo asked.
"Santa Claus, last name spelled C-L-A-U-S." Spyro said. "Also known as Father Christmas or Kris Kringle. He's the one who brings presents to boys and girls all across the world."
"PRESENTS!?" The three shouted, getting everyone's attention.
"Yes, presents." Spyro said. "Some believe it is the best thing during the holiday and in someways it is. But the real meaning of Christmas isn't the toys or the cool things you get. It's the love, generosity, and goodness of the heart and soul. Being with friends and family, letting go of meaningless trinkets and things and focusing on the ponies around us, the time we spend with them, the memories we make with those we love and cherish, and above all, having a merry time."
"Oh Spyro, that's so sweet." Twilight said, everyone hearing what he said.
"It is, isn't it?" Spyro asked.
"So, can you tell us more about Santa Claus?" Scootaloo said.
"Gladly." Spyro replied. "He's a cheery and jolly man, who goes around the world delivering presents to good little boys and girls. A reward for being nice and a cheery little boy or girl. But if you've been bad, you get a lump of coal."
"Why coal?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"As a lesson for bad behavior." Spyro replied. "The coal represents all the bad things you have done: not care about those unfortunate than they, actually cruel to others, be selfish, any and all bad deeds you have done. And, depending on the size of the coal, is how bad you have been."
"But, how does he know who's been good and who's been bad?" Apple Bloom asked. "If there are millions of foals, how does he know who is good or bad?"
"That's the million bit question." Spyro replied, seeing he drew in an audience. "All I know is, he sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake. And he also knows if you have been bad or good, so you three little girls had better been good." He then ruffled their manes, giggling and laughing as he messed with their hair. "And the cherry on top is, he has a super long list of all the names of the boys and girls that have been good or bad, checking it twice so he knows who's been naughty or nice. And once he makes his run, he goes to their houses and slides down the chimney of the house."
"But what if the house doesn't have a chimney?" Apple Bloom asked.
"The Chimney?" Scootaloo asked. "But what if a house doesn't have one?"
"Not an issue." Spyro replied. "He has magic that lets him make another entrance to get in as nothing will stop him from delivering the toys to all the good boys and girls. And it's very hungry work, so before going to bed, be sure to leave him some milk and cookies, or a reasonable replacement."
"Wow, cool!" Scootaloo said. "Will he come to Equestria? Will he? Will he!?"
"He might." Spyro said. "So long as you've been good."
He didn't have the heart to tell them that Santa Claus was in another world and he didn't know if he had the power to traverse worlds, even as far as Equestria, but knew he needed to tell her eventually, but decided to stay quiet about it for the time being and keep telling them about the holiday of Christmas, the traditions that comes with it and some of the decorations as well, his friends listening to every word he said, even seeing Pinkie was jotting down notes for something. When the train arrived at the station, everyone got off the train and saw that the entire station and the streets of Canterlot were decorated with festive Hearth's Warming decorations along the streets, light poles wrapped with wreaths, and the entire street of the place was covered in a one inch blanket of snow along the route through Canterlot. Along the way, the girls decided to play the worst game of 'I Spy' in history, saying what they were spying instead of giving them hints to what they were spying, making a mental note to teach them the game later on. As they approached the theater in Canterlot where the princess was looking over final preparations for the play when her leading cast walked down the aisle towards the stage.
"Twilight, Spyro, you made it." Princess Celestia said. "Right on time. Costumes are ready and we're about to start rehearsing. I have scripts for all of you right here." She then levitated multiple copies of the script to everyone, including Spyro. "I decided to change the play up a bit, as Spyro has some of the most important roles yet."
"And a lot of them." Spyro added. "Looks like this is a job for my Duplicate spell."
"And something else too." Celestia said. She then levitated a piece of paper to him, taking it with his magic and looked it over. "Think you can master this magic before tonight?"
"You're talking to the guy who can create his own Ancient Earth Golems, of course I can." Spyro replied with a smile. "This will be interesting."
They then got to work rehearsing and memorizing lines the lines for the show while Spyro was busy practicing the spell the princess gave him, mastering it in a few hours before the show. Up in the royal balcony, the princess was sitting there, with some special guests from Ponyville, including the Apple Family, Rarity's little sister, Spyro's little sister, and Rosy Hearts, which the princess got to meet and enjoyed her company as the performance was about to begin. Backstage, everyone was getting ready, putting their costumes on, and going over their lines again to make sure they were ready.
"I can't believe she asked us to be apart of one of the biggest performances of the season." Twilight said. "Do you guys know what an honor this is? For all of us?"
"Oh, I wished she hadn't honored me as much." Fluttershy said, her nerves taking over. "I can't go on stage! I don't want everypony looking at me!"
She then ran to the nearby box of costumes and tried to hide in it, hiding her front half while the back half was exposed.
"Fluttershy darling, please." Rarity said, tugging on her tail. "There is nothing to be nervous about."
"There isn't?" Fluttershy asked.
"Of course not." Rarity replied, pushing the nervous Pegasus to the mirror, doing Fluttershy's hair and makeup. "You see, ponies all across Equestria are preparing their own pageants for Hearth's Warming Eve in their own towns. It is after all tradition."
"So, they'll be too busy to come to our play?" Fluttershy asked.
"Well, no." Rarity replied. "We're in the Canterlot pageant, so it's the biggest and most important production in all of Equestria. A lot of ponies are coming to watch."
"A lot?" Fluttershy asked.
"Oh yes." Rarity replied. "Hundreds, maybe thousands."
"Hundreds!?" Fluttershy asked, her anxiety getting to her again. "Thousands!?"
Fluttershy screamed in fear, running away and back into the box, shaking in fear.
"Nice one Rare." Spyro said. "You know she get's nervous when everyone's starring or watching her."
"Well excuse me for trying to encourage her." Rarity replied. A moment later, the window opened up and the breeze blew in, letting the cold in and a bunch of snow all over Rarity. "Oh, my hair! Applejack, would you be a dear and please shut the windows?"
Applejack looked very annoyed with her friends request and walked over to the window to close it, but Rainbow Dash was cheering for herself like she believed the crowd would, leaning against the open window and glaring at her friend.
"Ya do realize this is a reenactment of the foundin' of Equestria, right?" Applejack asked. "Not the Rainbow Dash show."
"Well it should be!" Rainbow Dash retorted. "I'm the star!"
"Ya'll ain't the only main role ya egotistical rainbow pest!" Applejack retorted.
"Fluttershy, you need to come out of there!" Twilight said, using her magic to try and pull her friend out of the box.
"Curtain in two minutes." Spike said.
"Thanks Spike." Spyro said. He turned to tell his friends the curtain was due to rise in two minutes, but when he turned around, it was a complete mad house as his friends were all fighting and bickering with one another, more focused on fighting each other rather than the show. "Well, at least they got the bickering down."
After everyone calmed down and got their costumes on, the lights dimmed down as it was starting, the crowd going quiet as Spike walked out wearing his costume, a purple suit and hat of old times, being the narrator of the play, the starting scene being a fire place as the curtains pulled back as the little drake stood in front of the fire place.
"One upon a time, before the peaceful rule of Celestia, and before the discovery of our peaceful land of Equestria, ponies did not know harmony." The baby dragon began, walking to the crowd as the curtain closed. "It was a strange and dark time indeed, as ponies back then were torn apart, by hatred." The crowd gasped when they heard this, and while the curtains were still closed to hide the major scene while a few different props were set up in front of the curtain. For the Pegasi, some fake clouds to go with the suits of armor they wore, for the unicorns they were dressed like nobles and stood on a cliff side, but the earth ponies were dressed as peasants standing in the middle for a patch of fake grass. "For back then, the Pegasi, Unicorns, and Earth Ponies, cared not for what befell the other, only for the wellbeing of their own tribe."
The curtains then closed and after a moment opened up again to reveal another scene with Pegasi shaking a fake cloud right as Earth Ponies walked in.
"Each of the tribes did their best to compromise with the other." The baby dragon continued. "The Pegasi, back then and still now, were the stewards of the sky and controlled the weather. For their services of controlling the weather, they demanded food from the Earth Pony's, who grew the food they needed." As he said it, a couple of Earth ponies walked in with a cart of food, which was fake for the pageant, and each looked angry and annoyed with the other. After giving them the food, the unicorns walked in and the sun lowered down as the moon rose, which the Earth ponies gave them food for. "And the same can be said for the unicorns for in exchange for food, they raised and lowered the sun and moon. Because of this, mistrust between the three tribes festered, until one unfortunate day, it all came to a boil."
Then the scene changed, this time a gust of wind blew in as fake snow started to fall from above as the three tribes backed away from one another.
"And what caused it to come to a boil" Spike asked the audience. "It was a mysterious blizzard that overtook the land and toppled the tribes little bit of peace. The usually industrious Earth Ponies were unable to grow anything due to the cold and wind, causing them to freeze and unable to grow any food, the Pegasi couldn't control the blizzard and were hungry, but the unicorns were both freezing and hungry, unable warm the land with the sun, their magic powerless against the sun. And because of this, each of the tribes blamed the other for their suffering, and the more they fought, the worse the storm got."
As he spoke, the scenes continued to shift from earth ponies shivering and freezing, to the Pegasi looking very hungry, one even trying to eat his helmet, and the unicorns having a lack of food and trying to use their magic to keep the storm out before shifted to a few actors fighting over food, getting into a brawl before moving on.
"Eventually, the tribes decided to come together and hold a summit in order to find a way to cope with the blizzard and find a solution." Spike continued. "Each tribe sends their leaders to discuss what to do. For the unicorns, daughter of the unicorn king, princess platinum. For the Pegasi, ruler of the Pegasi, commander Hurricane. And for the Earth Ponies, their leader, chancellor Puddinghead. Our story takes place with this historic moment, to see if the three tribes can settle their differences and come up with a way to survive or end this winter."
Spike the walked off stage and allowed the main curtain to pull back and start the show, for the unicorn princess was played by Rarity who was wearing a fluffy purple and white cape and dress with a platinum crown on her head. Rainbow Dash played Commander Hurricane and was wearing black and bronze armor similar to some of the armor worn by the Equestrian guard today while Pinkie was wearing a brown and yellow outfit similar to what Spike was wearing, but her hat looked like a massive cup of chocolate pudding. The three of them approached the table and took their headwear off, putting them on the table and starring at each other silently, waiting for one or the other to begin the discussion before each started to shout over the other, bickering and fighting amongst each other, trying to be heard first before the others.
"All I wish to know is why the Earth Ponies are hogging all the food!" Rainbow Dash said, slamming her hoof on the table.
"We aren't;t hogging all the food, you are!" Pinkie replied, confusing them before correcting herself. "Oh wait, we are, aren't we? Well, it's only because you pegasusususesususes are making it snow like crazy!"
"For the hundredth time, it's not us." Rainbow Dash said. "We aren't making it snow! It has to be the unicorns! They must be using their freaky magic."
"How dare you!" Rarity exclaimed. "Unlike you Pegasi Ruffians, we unicorns would never stoop to such a thing!"
"Well, if you non-earth ponies aren't going to stop using your weirdo magic to freeze us all, then I'm out of ideas." Pinkie said, her head landing hard on the table.
"Oh, what a surprise, an Earth Pony with no ideas!" Rainbow Dash said.
"Commander Hurricane, cease with the insults!" Rarity said.
"You're not the boss of me your royal snootiness!" Rainbow Das shouted.
"I beg your pardon!?" Rarity asked. "I am a princess, and I will not be spoken to that way! Good day ruffians!"
As she was making her way to the door, the entrance burst open to allow for the gust of wind and snow to fly in, spooking the actor as a mystery pony walked in, covered in black and white armor and a cape with a dragon shaped helmet on his head. Rarity backed away from the visitor as a golden aura surrounded the doors and closed them, approaching the table as he removed his helmet, revealing himself to be Spyro playing an added role to the pageant, setting it down on the table as he looked out to the audience.
"It appears I have come at a fortuitous time." Spyro said, playing his role perfectly.
"Who the heck are you!?" Rainbow Dash asked, getting into his face.
"My name is Harmonious." Spyro said, playing his character. "And I have come with a warning about the Eternal Winter."
"The Eternal what now!?" Pinkie asked, appearing from the ceiling.
"The winter's bite has ravage this land and caused great devastation for all three tribes." Spyro said, closing his eyes.
"Yeah, tell us something we don't know!" Rainbow Dash said, crossing her forelegs.
"If you insist." Spyro replied, surprising her. "The winter is caused by rage and hate within the hearts of the three tribes. Mistrust and ill will towards each other has rot forth the Eternal Winter, a time where the land itself freezes over, where the sun does not shine, and food becomes scarce. To end the Eternal Winter, at least one heart, barred from ill will and hatred, from each tribe is needed to end the winter, melting this world's heart and restoring balance to the land."
"Are you saying we need to sacrifice one of our own to end this disaster!?" Rarity asked, looking appalled by the thought. "How dare you! I will not stoop as low as to sacrifice one of my own for some ritual!"
"For once, I'm with the royal brat!" Rainbow Dash said, Rarity glaring at her. "No way am I going to kill one of my people just to help these ungrateful slobs!"
"Me too!" Pinkie said, growling at Spyro. "No icky dark weirdo magic is going to touch my ponies! Forget it!"
The three tribe leaders then left the room, leaving Spyro alone, shaking his head as the scene then shifted to the Pegasi, where Rainbow Dash, acting as Commander Hurricane, flew past and landed on platform before a building right as Fluttershy, playing the part of Private Pansy and wore the same colored armor as Rainbow Dash, flew down and saluted her.
"C-Commander Hurricane, sir." Fluttershy said. "H-how did the summit go, sir?"
"Horribly!" Rainbow Dash shouted. "Those other tribes disrespected us Pegasi! Don't they understand that we are a mighty tribe of warriors and we shouldn't be crossed!? We must break ranks with those weaklings and find a land to call home!"
"Perhaps I could help you with that." Came a male voice.
Both Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy looked up and saw what appeared to be Spyro, but he didn't have any Dragonic features or appearances and had Pegasi wings with a blue coat, orange mane and tail and wearing what appeared to be cobalt colored armor with three circles in a triangular formation on the helmet and shoulder guard, the bottom right hand circle was colored blue, the left hand side was green, and the one on top was red.
"Who the hay are you!?" Rainbow Dash shouted.
"I am Cobalt, Cobalt Skies." The actor replied. "And I saw that my fellow Pegasi of this land was suffering due to a lack of food and lack the ability to control the clouds here, so I have come to bring you to my homeland were this unnatural blizzard has not touch it."
"Wait, are you serious!?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Of course." He replied. "My brothers and I have lived in this land all our lives and the blizzard has not touched it. It's the perfect place for your people to rebuild and thrive."
"Sounds perfect!" Rainbow Dash said. "Lead the way Cobalt!"
"Um, Commander Hurricane, sir." Fluttershy said. "Are we really sure it's a good idea to trust this guy? I mean-"
"Are you questioning my leadership private!?" Rainbow Dash shouted.
"N-no sir." Fluttershy replied.
"Good." Rainbow Dash replied. "Now, lead the way Cobalt. I think there's a place for you in my personal staff as second in command in your future."
The scene then shifted to a castle scene where Rarity was walking through the freezing winds and through the doors, shutting them.
"Clover the Clever, I require your service!" Rarity said.
"Yes your Majesty." Twilight said, playing the part of Clover the Clever, bringing a blanket to warm her up. "Did the other tribes see reason to band together like I predicted?"
"Hardly." Rarity replied, removing the blanket and walking to seat with a pillow as Twilight brought a tub of warm water to her. "Those other tribes are impossible. I for one can no longer bear to be anywhere near those lowly and ill mannered creatures. We unicorns are majestic and noble, nothing like those ruffians. No longer shall we consult with the likes of them."
"Then it's a good thing I have come." A voice said.
The two unicorns looked to the door and watched as a red unicorn stallion, looking like Spyro, but without the Dragonic features, blue mane and wearing what appeared to be a cloak of nobility with a crown on his head, the same symbol on the crown like on Cobalt's armor.
"Who are you?" Rarity asked. "How did you get past the guards?"
"I am Scarlet, Scarlet Diamond." The actor replied. "And I have seen that this land is plagued by this cursed blizzard and could no longer stand by as my kindred is suffering."
"And how, pray tell, can you help us?" Rarity asked.
"I come from a land where I live with my two brothers." Scarlet replied. "We are the caretakers of this sacred land and we wish to bring you to it. There, you can rebuild and survive the harsh winter without the threat of freezing to death."
"This sounds marvelous." Rarity said.
"Sounds too good to be true." Twilight pointed out.
"Clover, where are your manners?" Rarity asked, leering at the lavender actor. "Scarlet, I accept your aid. Let us be off."
"Excellent." Scarlet replied. "It's not too far, only a few days march north by north west. We leave when you are ready."
The scene then shifted again, this time to a room with a fireplace in it that went out, but from the fireplace, Pinkie Pie fell out of it and landing face first into the soot and covering her face in it. She looked up to see Applejack, who was wearing a brown tunic and hat.
"Chancellor, wouldn't it have been simpler to have come through the door?" The orange mare asked.
"Maybe for you Smart Cookie, but I'm a chancellor, and I can think outside of the box." Pinkie replied. "Which also means, I can think inside the chimney. How about you? Can you think inside a chimney?" The orange pony was left baffled. "I didn't think so. Oh, hold onto your hooves as I am about to be brilliant!"
"That'll be a first." Applejack whispered to herself.
"I have decided that the Earth ponies are going to go it alone!" Pinkie said.
"Oh, so the other tribes didn't come around and agree to work together?" Applejack asked, groaning. "Shoot, I really thought we could get through to them."
"Don't worry about them Smart Cookie." Pinkie said. "We're the ones with all the food, right?"
"Actually chancellor, we're all out of food." Applejack replied.
"Fine, then we'll go to new lands and grow some new food." Pinkie replied. "And with me as our fearless leader, what could go wrong?"
Pinkie then opened the door and snow fell through, completely covering her and burying her alive, but at the entrance of the door was a green Earth pony with a yellow mane and was wearing a simple cloak with a necklace that has the same three circles as Cobalt and Scarlet were wearing.
"Geez, talk about getting jinxed." The mystery pony said, Pinkie popping her head up. "Don't you know that's one sentence you should never say? Get's ya every time."
"Who are you?" Applejack asked. "Never seen you before?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, I guess it is rather rude of me not to introduce myself before talking." The pony said. "I'm Emerald, Emerald Plains and I come bearing gifts of aid!"
"Oh, you got any food!?" Pinkie asked.
"Better." Emerald replied. "You see, I come from a distant land where this nasty old snowy snow hasn't covered it. I came to bring you there so you can rebuild because, honestly, this place is BORING!"
"Wait, yer inviting us to live in your homeland?" Applejack asked. "Why?"
"Well duh, I hate seeing ponies freeze to death here." Emerald replied. "My brothers and I have lived in it for years, but it get's SO boring without anypony else to play with, being stuck with two brothers who are so serious all the time, it get's SO dull."
"I like this guy." Pinkie said, shocking Applejack. "Lead the way Emerald!"
"And so the three groups followed their new friends." Spike said, coming in from stage left. "Commander Hurricane and Private Pansy following Cobalt Skies through the air and through the blistering winds of the cold, Princess Platinum and Clover the Clever followed Scarlet Diamond through vast jungles and over rivers, which the princess used Clover to avoid walking over any of it, while Chancellor Puddinghead and Smart Cookie following Emerald plains through vast mountain ranges and grottos until they reached a wonderful and beautiful land, fulfilling their promises to the three tribal leaders."
The scene changed to the sky where Cobalt Skies was flying with Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, both acting star struck to see the vast fields and the open sky, not a single gray cloud to be seen.
"Here we are." "Cobalt said. "As I promised."
"Holy cow!" Rainbow Dash said. "This place is the new land we needed!"
"What a view." Fluttershy said. "I can see my future house from here."
Rainbow Dash then reached back and pulled out a banner, on it was the insignia of the Pegasi, colored blue with stars behind it.
"I hereby proclaim this land to be, Pegasopolis!" Rainbow Dash proclaimed. "The land of Pegasi!"
The scene then changed to Rarity and Twilight following Scarlet Ruby to a cliff side, filled with jewels and other riches, which Rarity took to and examined it when they stopped.
"These jewels, they're dazzling!" Rarity exclaimed. "This ruby, absolutely stunning! This whole land is stunning!"
"As I said, my brothers and I have cared for this land since it was given to us." Scarlet said. "You are more than welcome to rebuild your homes here."
"Oh Scarlet, when my new castle is built, you may have the honor of my hoof in marriage." Rarity said, making the actor blush as a banner with the insignia of the unicorns was planted in the ground by Twilight. "In the name of the unicorns, I hereby dub this land, Unicornia."
It then shifted again, this time it was Emerald Plains, which Pinkie Pie and Applejack pretended to be amazed by the scenery, Pinkie immediately rushing forward, jumping in the air.
"The air." She said, teleporting to the trees and then to the ground. "The trees, the dirt. This is the dirtiest dirt in the whole dirt world!"
"See, told you there wasn't any old nasty old snow." Emerald said, jumping into the dirt with Pinkie. "This place is great for you guys! And I won't be bored anymore as I can have new friends to play with and never be bored again!"
"And this dirt is fertile too." Applejack said. "It's perfect for growing food."
"You said it Smart Cookie!" Pinkie said, dropping her hat to reveal a banner as it popped out with what appeared to be sun, peaceful lands and plants. :In the name of the Earth ponies, I nearby call this place, Dirtville!"
"Um, how about calling it Earth?" Applejack suggested.
"You're no fun." Emerald said. "But, I suppose Earth will have to do."
A moment later, all the actors looked around and saw each other, acting surprised while the guides just smiled.
"YOU!?" They shouted at the same time.
"Hey, I planted my flag first!" Rainbow Dash shouted. "This land belongs to us!"
"Did not!" Rarity shouted back. "I planted my flag first!"
"I planted mine earlier than first." Pinkie said.
"All of you riffraff are trespassing in Unicornia!" Rarity said. "We were here first!"
"The name is Pegasopolis!" Rainbow Dash shouted back. "And we got here first!"
The three actors then started to argue about the name of the land, not noticing that their guides were gone until it was too late.
"I say we fight for it!" Rainbow Dash said. "Cobalt, you handle-"
She turned to look at Cobalt Skies, but saw that he was gone, as was Scarlet Ruby and Emerald Plains, confusing them until they finally noticed the storm had caught up to them, so they all seeked shelter until they found a cave, everyone rushing to it, but then fought for who got in first, getting in at the same time, none of the leaders too pleased with having to share.
"Commander Hothead, please keep your hoof out of our territory." Rarity said.
"Oh, your territory you prissy unicorn brat!?" Rainbow Dash exclaimed. "Private, outline Pegasopolises territory." Fluttershy did just that, Rianbow Dash using her to take up half the space of the cave, annoying the actors acting as leaders. "You see this line? This is the sovereign territory of Pegasopolis. And I proclaim Cobalt Skies the number one enemy for abandoning us!"
"That goes double for me!" Rarity said, Twilight outlining their territory. "And to think I asked Scarlet Diamond to have my hoof in marriage when my castle was built. He's not even worthy to even look at me."
"Me three!" Pinkie said, Applejack doing the same. "Emerald plains tricked us! he lead us to our hated enemies! When I find him,. I'm going to bury him in dirt!"
The three ponies playing as the leaders then got into an argument, making the other three shake their heads in disappointment at them when they all noticed that the entrance had been iced over, their leaders failing to notice as they kept arguing right as the ice over took them, freezing them solid while leaving the other three alone as they moved to the center to avoid the ice. They then heard what sounded like demented sounds from a horse, huddling together as they looked up to see three ethereal horses running above them.
"W-what are those things?" Fluttershy asked.
"Windigoes" Twilight replied. "My mentor, Star Swirl the Bearded taught me all about them. They're winter spirits that feed off of the hatred and anger from ponies and from the fights that come with it. They caused the winter and caused us to fight among ourselves as the more hatred they feel, the colder it becomes."
"Then... this is our fault." Applejack said. "We three tribes, we brought this upon us by fighting and not trusting each other. Now it's destroying this land too. The land Emerald Plains brought us to."
"And now we'll become as cold as our hearts." Twilight said. "All because we were foolish enough to hate."
"Well, actually, I don't hate you guys." Fluttershy said. "I actually hate Commander Hurricane more than you guys." The two ponies then started to laugh, which caused her to laugh as well, making the Windigoes look to them as they froze. "Actually, I don't hater her in particular, I just really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really dislike her."
The three of them started to laugh again, which seemed to worry the Windigoes as they tried to finish freezing them.
"Know somethin' Ah don't hate you guys either." Applejack said.
Nor do I." Twilight said.
The Windigoes kept going faster in order to finish them, the ice crawling over them to freeze them in ice.
"In the end, no matter what our differences maybe, we're all ponies." Applejack said.
As the ice was finishing covering them, the ice touched the lavender unicorns horn, it started to glow and soon a torrent of hot pink flames shot out of Twilight's horn, hitting the center of the Windigoes and causing them extreme pain and anguish, pulling them in together until they were trapped in a massive pink heart that flew into the air and melted most of the ice in the cave.
"Wha-what happened?" Twilight asked.
"Ah didn't know unicorns could do that." Applejack said.
"Neither did I." Twilight responded.
"But I did." Scarlet Diamond said. The three ponies soon appeared at the entrance, a glowing blue circle appearing on their heads and from them formed a heart that was glowing in the middle of the circle. "That is the true power of the heart."
"The heart?" Twilight asked.
"The heart maybe an organ to you, but it's truly magical." Cobalt said.
"It houses power that only a certain few can harness and use." Scarlet said.
"And it is unpredictable too." Emerald added. "But in the end, it's true purpose isn't to fight or bicker, but to make friends and memories, despite differences."
"And in the end..." The three of them said in unison. The circles on their foreheads glowed brighter until they appeared underneath them, glowing in the same pattern as was on their clothing and armor, creating a wall of energy around each of them until they moved in unison into the center, fusing together to create a single being, which was Spyro, who broke the spell the princess gave him to change his appearance. "You three unlocked the power to save this land. The three of you unlocked the true power of Friendship, The Flames of Friendship."
"What happens now?" Twilight asked.
"That is for you to decide." Spyro replied, levitating in the air as he used his magic to surround himself in a golden aura. "Harmony can only come from trust and friendship. The road to true harmony will be long and hard, but in the end, you'll make a kingdom that not even I could have made in my lifetime." He then started to fade until he was barely visible, but he smiled at them. "Remember, never let the flame of friendship burn out. Always keep it burning bright."
"And with that little bit of advice, the three friends kept the flame of friendship burning throughout the night." Spike said, coming back in from stage left. "They told each other stories, sang songs together, which are now the winter carols that we sing today. Eventually the warmth of the fire and the singing and laughing reached the leaders and their bodies began to thaw. And better yet, it began to melt their hearts, thus the three leaders agreed to share the beautiful land and live in harmony forever afterwards and together, they names the new land..."
"EQUESTRIA!" Everyone said at the same time.
The crowd cheered as the curtains closed, confetti flying everywhere and everyone applauding for the performance. A minute later, the curtain opened up again to show the Mane Six and Spyro, Spike rushing over and everyone bowing to the crowd as the bells on the stage started to ring and misc started to play.
[Choir]
'The fire of friendship lives in our hearts.
As long as it burns, we cannot drift apart.
Though quarrels arise, their numbers are few,
laughter and singing will see us through.
(will see us through)
We are a circle of pony friends,
a circle of friends we'll be to the end.'
The curtains then closed again as the crowd cheered and applauded for them as the actors got off the stage and backstage, laughing and chatting away as they went to the mirrors, but Spyro felt a sudden disturbance in the Force, hearing the sounds of those Windigoes again as soon as they started to argue, which also ended the argument at the same time. Spyro flew out the windows before Rainbow Dash had a chance to close them and saw the burning heart of friendship above Canterlot, sensing there was a darker presence around when he saw a familiar black unicorn mare and her pet crow, rolling his eyes as he glided down to the roof top she was on, calling his Keyblade.
"Seriously?" Spyro asked, making Maleficent turn to face him. "Seriously? You got to show your ugly mug here after what you did to Spike? And they say I'm dense sometimes."
"It matters not what you think fool." Maleficent said, turning her back to him as Large Bodies got in his way. "This flame holds the spirits of these 'Windigoes.' Once they are free, this world shall freeze over and with my power, it will be mine." He then used her green flames to try and corrupt the heart of fire, the flames touching, but almost immediately, the flames over took the dark fey, the green flames turning pink as she screamed in agony, collapsing to the ground as the flames burned her severely, leaving behind first to second degree burns. "How!? How is it... resisting?"
"You guys have the worst timing ever." Spyro said. Maleficent turned her head to see the Large Bodies were also engulfed in the pink flames, releasing the pink hearts into the night sky while he remained where he was before. "First Vanitas trying to harvest fear on Nightmare Night when fear is at it's weakest, now you trying to release the Windigoes during the eve of Hearth's Warming, the day of the year of the founding of Equestria?" He walked over and knelt down to the dark enchantress, seeing her rage and anger as she started to heal herself. "On this night and this day, the Flames of Friendship are at their strongest, burning brightly as all three pony species sing, laugh, and cheer, celebrating and having fun. These flames burn bright because everyone here are friends. The only way you can destroy that kind of friendship is if you snapped half of this planet's population from existence."
"Snapped out of existence?" Maleficent asked, smiling as a dark corridor opened up under her, making Spyro back away. "What a charming idea."
"Oh what did I just do now?" Spyro asked himself, instantly regretting his choice of words.
