Matters Of The Heart

Chapter 41

They arrived to flashing cameras and media.

Nathan went straight inside and Rachel followed him.

While Peyton decided she would say something.

She stared into one of the cameras. And took one of the mics from the news reporter.

"Brooke and I had our problems. But friendship and sisterhood is why i'm here today. To honor our history." Peyton said. Before going inside.

"I think we should just ask where Brooke's room is." Rachel announced.

"You have to give the media something to talk about and i did that." Peyton said. As she joined them in the entryway to the hospital.

Nathan went up to the reception desk and asked for Brooke Davis's room number.

The receptionist looked into the computer then turned to Nathan.

"Mrs. Scott isn't having any visitors. At the request of her husband." The woman replied.

"I imagine that there is an exception for family. She is my brother's wife after all. Brooke and I we grew up together." Nathan said.

"I can get you front row tickets to any game you want coming up." Nathan insisted.

The receptionist smiled at the picture of her young son on the desk.

"You didn't hear it from me. But here is her room number."

"I suggest you have an honest talk with you're brother."

"Brooke isn't doing well." She said.

Nathan gave her his contact information for the tickets before leading the way through the emergency room intensive care floor.

"How is Lucas going to react to us just showing up here no warning?" Rachel asked.

"Like we care about that? Brooke was in our life long before she met Lucas." Peyton replied.

Nathan wasn't prepared for the set of security officers at the hospital door.

Maybe they hadn't thought this through. Nathan realized then.

Lucas had just got back from spending time with Tegan.

He had also checked in on the boys who were staying with his mom and Keith.

He had loved ones offering for them to stay with Brooke while he went back to town but he just couldn't leave her.

She was his other half and he wanted to be there when she awoke.

Lucas felt his heart sink at the sight of Nathan. Peyton. And Rachel at Brooke's hospital door.

"Luke hear us out. We heard aboout Brooke. We love and care about her too." Peyton said.

"I don't want to hear from you. Or Rachel."

"Brooke showed up for the both of you. She's told me all about the history."

"I made myself very clear Nathan. You show you're face here with you're fake concern. I cannot take the sight of you."

"The only reason you are showing up here is because of yourself."

"You're wants and needs that's all Dan's golden boy ever gave a damn about!"

"All of you get out of our lives. Away from kids."

"You don't exist." Lucas exclaimed.

"Who the hell do you think you are!" "I love her more then you ever could. You think you're entitled to her when really you're a pathetic son of a bitch!" Nathan exclaimed.

It was then that Lucas attacked Nathan.

Hitting and punching him. Unable to control himself any longer.

The security that Lucas hired knew what went on so they didn't get in the way.

"Stop it! It's too much!" Lucas got off of Nathan.

He turned around and found Brooke standing outside by the door.

Lucas's heart jumping to his throat. He raced over to her.

Wanting to hug her. Kiss her. Hold her.

When he reached for her. She pulled away.

"Don't touch me. Stay away from me. My kids." Brooke proclaimed.

"Brooke. I can explain this." Lucas insisted. Tears welling up in his eyes.

But Brooke ignored him and went back to her room.
