Author's note: Sorry it took so long to post this chapter. My family's had a tough year and I only recently decided to get back to writing. Will try to update more frequently, but no schedule.
Chapter 7
The Battle of Red Fountain
Late that night, after dropping Miss Faragonda off at Alfea, the teens' ship landed in the Red Fountain hangar. Headmaster Saladin was there to greet them.
"I've arranged for rooms on a mostly empty floor," he said. "I'm sorry, but you may be a little crowded; dorm rooms were all we had."
"Thank you so much for agreeing to this," Bloom said. "We really appreciate it."
"Thank Faragonda," Saladin said. "She can be quite convincing."
Saladin had arranged for two rooms across the hall from each other. One for the boys and one for the girls.
Before they went to sleep that night, Sky said, "I'll stand watch again tonight."
"No you won't," Tommy said. "I will."
"Thanks for the offer," Sky said. "But this is something I need to do."
"Sky, you haven't slept in days," Tommy said. "And I was watching you in the last fight. Your moves were slow, sluggish. You need sleep."
Now, Sky raised his voice. "I have to protect Bloom!"
Tommy also raised his voice. "You can't protect Bloom if you can't even protect yourself!"
Layla came out of the girls' room and said quietly, "You guys wanna wake up the whole school?"
Then Bloom came out and said, "Sky, I appreciate that you want to protect me. I really do. But, with everything that's going on right now, I couldn't handle losing you. Get some sleep."
Sky sighed, then said, "You're right, Bloom." He looked over at Tommy. "You're both right."
"All right," Tommy said. "From now on, we'll stand watch in three-hour shifts." He glanced at his watch. "It's 11:00 now. So, Brandon, I'll get you up to relieve me at 2:00."
Brandon reached into his pocket and pulled out some coins.
"Here," he said, giving them to Tommy. "There's a vending machine just down the hall. A little caffeine might help you stay awake."
"Thanks," Tommy said, pocketing the coins.
After that, everyone (except Tommy) said goodnight and went to bed. About thirty minutes into his watch, Tommy went to the vending machine. To his surprise, it said "Pepsi" on it.
"Who knew they had Pepsi in the Magical Dimension," he muttered to himself.
He brought a regular Pepsi, then went back to his post, standing outside the girls' room.
About 1:30 Tommy looked at his watch in the dim light of the hallway.
"Still thirty minutes before Brandon takes over," he muttered to himself.
He was about to go get him another Pepsi, when he heard a loud banging noise. He looked out a window and saw Putties hitting the gate with a battering ram. He first knocked on the boys' door, then the girls'.
"We got Putties!" he said.
"They still found me?!" Bloom said. "I don't know how much longer I can handle this."
"Let's get 'em!" Musa said.
Winx Club: "Let's go Enchantix!"
"Bloom, Fairy of the Dragon Flame!"
"Tecna, Fairy of Technology!"
"Musa, Fairy of Music!"
"Stella, Fairy of the Shining Sun!"
"Layla, Fairy of Waves!"
"Flora, Fairy of Nature!"
The teens ran downstairs and out into the courtyard. All the Specialists at Red Fountain were already there, ready to defend their school. They were surprised to see the Power Rangers and Winx Club there, but no one said anything about it.
Sky ran up in front of all the Specialists. He shouted for their attention.
"I've fought these guys before," he said. "You have to attack the 'Z' on their chest."
Just then, the gates crashed open and the Putties streamed in. The heroes ran into the midst of the oncoming army. There were Phantoblades and other weapons swinging everywhere, magic energy beams from the Winx, and flurries of fighting moves from the Rangers.
Kimberly jumped up in the air and did a split kick, taking out two Putties. Zack got surrounded by Putties, but a break dance style kick from the Black Ranger (and a few perfectly placed shots from Timmy) took them all down. Tommy spin kicked a putty in front of him, then he turned around and spin kicked another one. Sky was fighting better now, easily slashing through Putties.
Just then, Stella pointed to the gate and said, "Look! More Putties!"
"Looks like someone called in reinforcements," Riven said.
"Layla, stop them from getting in," Bloom said.
"Got it," Layla replied. "Morphix Barrier!"
A Morphix wall appeared in the gate, stopping them from getting in.
"Putties usually aren't this organized," Billy said. "Someone's got to be leading them."
"Look over there!" Flora said.
She was pointing to the gate. There stood someone wearing red armor, with a red ninja mask covering his face.
"That's the Red Warrior!" Helia said. "Red Fountain has a file on him."
"Who's this 'Red Warrior?'" Jason said, taking a Putty out with a punch.
"A mercenary for hire," Brandon said. "Zedd probably hired him to lead the Putties against Red Fountain."
"Sky, Bloom," Tommy said. "Can the Specialists and Winx Club handle the Putties?"
"No problem!" Sky said.
"You got it!" Bloom said.
"Then we'll take care of the Red Warrior," Tommy said. "It's morphin time! Tigerzord!"
Zack: "Mastodon!"
Kimberly: "Pterodactyl!"
Billy: "Triceratops!"
Trini: "Saber-Toothed Tiger!"
Jason: "Tyrannosaurus!"
"All right, Red Warrior, it's time for you to give up," Tommy said.
"You haven't even given me the honor of combat yet," the Red Warrior said.
"If that's the way you want it, the Power Rangers will grant your request," Tommy said.
"Choose your weapons, Rangers," the Red Warrior said.
"No problem!" Tommy replied. "Saba!"
Zack: "Power Ax!"
Kimberly: "Power Bow!"
Billy: "Power Lance!"
Trini: "Power Daggers!"
Jason: "Power Sword!"
"Very well, now I shall choose mine," the Red Warrior said, pulling out a pair of sai.
Tommy swung Saba at the Red Warrior. The mercenary blocked the attacked with his sai, then knocked the White Ranger down with a single kick.
Kimberly fired an arrow at him. He jumped to the side, grabbed the arrow as it whizzed by, then threw it back at the Pink Ranger.
Zack swung his ax at the Red Warrior. The mercenary dodged at the last second, causing Zack to get off-balance due to the weight of his own weapon.
Billy jabbed his Power Lance at the Red Warrior. The mercenary moved to the side, then grabbed the end of the lance. He then used the momentum Billy had from his attempted attack to throw the Blue Ranger against a nearby wall.
Trini unleashed a rapid flurry of attacks with her daggers. The Red Warrior kept dodging, looking for an opening. When he saw it, he grabbed Trini's wrists, and flipped her over him.
Jason used his Power Sword to unleash a flurry of martial arts attacks. The Red Warrior kept blocking with his sai. Eventually, he caught the Red Ranger's blade between two prongs of one of his sai, causing the Power Sword to fly out of Jason's hands. To his surprise, the Red Warrior suddenly stood still instead of attacking.
"Retrieve your weapon, Red Ranger," the Red Warrior said. "I will not attack a defenseless opponent."
"How do I know your not bluffing?" Jason asked.
"I give you my word of honor," the Red Warrior replied.
Jason realized he had no choice. He quickly grabbed his sword, then regrouped with the other Rangers.
"This guy is tough," Zack said.
"And he sure knows his martial arts," Trini added.
"This guy considers himself a warrior," Tommy said.
"And he has honor," Jason added.
"I've got an idea," Tommy said. "Red Warrior, we could go on like this forever, or we can make a deal. But first, call off the Putties.
The Red Warrior was silent for a few seconds, then said, "Putties, halt!"
The Putties froze in their tracks.
"I'm listening, White Ranger," the Red Warrior said. "What's your deal?"
"One of us against you," Tommy replied. "One on one. Our warrior wins, you leave, taking the Putties with you."
"And if I win?" the Red Warrior asked.
"You and the Putties win this battle," Tommy replied.
"Tommy, what are you doing?!" Sky demanded, running over.
"Trust me," Tommy replied.
"I accept your challenge," the Red Warrior said. "Choose your warrior."
Before anyone could reply, Bloom said, "Me."
"Bloom, no!" Sky said.
"It's time I do something besides hide," Bloom replied.
"Was this part of your plan?" Sky whispered to Tommy.
"No way," Tommy whispered back. "I was thinking you, me, Jason or Brandon."
"Let's just hope she can take him," Jason said.
"Choose your weapon, fairy," the Red Warrior said.
"The Dragon Flame is the only weapon I need," Bloom said.
"Very well," the Red Warrior said. He handed his sai to a Putty. "I will fight unarmed."
The Red Warrior attacked first. He aimed a spin kick at Bloom's head, but she dodged it by flying backwards. Bloom retaliated with a stream of fire, but the mercenary easily moved to the side. Bloom fired several fireballs, but the Red Warrior dodged every one.
"Is that all you've got, fairy?" the Red Warrior said.
"I'm just getting started," Bloom said.
"I taught her this," Sky whispered to Tommy. "She's feeling him out. Trying to figure out how he fights."
This guy fights defensively, Bloom thought to herself. What if he had to go on the offensive?
Bloom waited for the Red Warrior to attack again, then dodged it. Instead of attacking, she just kept dodging and blocking using her wings, magic, and her athleticism. The Red Warrior kept attacking. Bloom kept dodging. She could see the mercenary was starting to tire. She waited for an opening. Eventually, the Red Warrior, exhausted, lowered his guard just an inch. But, that was all Bloom needed. She hit the mercenary with a fireball, sending him flying backwards. The Red Warrior staggered to his feet only to be greeted with a wall of fire. Bloom came flying through the fire, landing a magic enhanced punch to the mercenary's stomach. He doubled over, in pain. Bloom blasted him with a magic energy beam, sending him flying backwards again.
Bloom was about to charge up another attack when the Red Warrior held up his hands. "I yield, Fairy of the Dragon Flame," he said. "You have bested me in honorable combat."
"Don't forget the deal," Bloom said.
"I haven't," the Red Warrior said. "Going back on it would be dishonorable. Putties, move out!"
Just then Zedd's voice came over a communicator on the Red Warrior's belt. "What are you doing Red Warrior!?" he said. "I want that school destroyed and the Dragon Flame in my hand."
"I gave my word, Zedd" the Red Warrior replied. "I will not tarnish my honor by going back on it."
"I don't care about your honor," Zedd said. "I want the Dragon Flame!"
The Red Warrior threw the communicator on the ground and crushed it beneath his boot. Then he left, along with the Putties.
Back on the moon, Zedd turned to the Trix. "Trix, summon me a monster to destroy that school and get me the Dragon Flame!" he said.
"We have the perfect one in mind, Zedd," Icy said. "Ready, girls?"
The other two witches nodded.
Trix: "From the mists of time. From myth and legend. Cut off one head, two more shall take its place. Rise, Hydra!"
Back at Red Fountain, everyone was congratulating Bloom for her victory. Suddenly, a beam of magic energy came down from the sky, striking the ground. When it stopped, a nine-headed Hydra was towering over them.
"Whoa! What is that?" Sky said.
"It's the Hydra!" Billy said. "Hercules fought it in Greek mythology."
"Well, it's never fought the Power Rangers before!" Tommy said.
Power Rangers: "We need Thunderzord power now!"
"Or the Winx Club!" Bloom said.
Winx Club: "We need Enchantixzord power now!"
Kimberly: "Pterodactyl/Firebird Thunderzord power!"
Flora: "Nature Enchantixzord power!"
Zack: "Mastodon/Lion Thunderzord power!"
Musa: "Music Enchantixzord power!"
Trini: "Saber-Toothed Tiger/Griffin Thunderzord power!"
Stella: "Shining Sun Enchantixzord power!"
Billy: "Triceratops/Unicorn Thunderzord power!"
Tecna: "Technology Enchantixzord power!"
Jason: "Tyrannosaurus/Red Dragon Thunderzord power!"
Layla: "Waves Enchantixzord power!"
Tommy and Saba: "Summon Tigerzord!"
Bloom: "Dragon Flame Enchantixzord power!"
Power Rangers: "Thunder Megazord, power up!"
Tommy: "Tigerzord, convert to Warrior Mode!"
Winx Club: "Zords combine! Enchantix Megazord, ready!"
The Enchantix Megazord moved in first. It tried to punch the Hydra, but the monster used it tail to send the megazord reeling backwards.
The Thunder Megazord tried to attack, but the Hydra opened one of its mouths and breathed fire. The megazord was bathed in flames.
"If that thing doesn't stop soon, the megazord will be a puddle of molten metal!" Billy said.
"Don't worry guys. I got this!" Tommy said.
The Tigerzord moved in, sword in hand. It raised its hand to slash the head that was breathing fire.
"Tommy, wait!" Billy said.
But it was too late. The sword sliced the head off. It was quickly replaced by two more heads.
"What! Impossible!" Tommy exclaimed.
"When you cut off one of the Hydra's heads, two more take its place," Billy explained.
"Billy, how did Hercules defeat it in the legend?" Layla asked.
"He used a hot knife to instantly cauterize each wound as he cut the heads off," Billy replied.
"And just how are we supposed to do that?" Stella said.
"Bloom, Jason," Zordon said. "Combine your zords with the Tigerzord to form the Dragon Mega Tigerzord."
"Got it, Zordon," Bloom said.
"Let's do it!" Jason said.
Tommy, Jason, and Bloom: "Zords, combine!"
The Tigerzord's legs were swapped out for the Dragon Flame Enchantixzord's hind legs. The Dragon Flame Enchantixzord's front left leg became the left arm of the Tigerzord. The Tigerzord's right arm was replaced by the neck and head of the Red Dragon Thunderzord. The Tigerzord also got the Red Dragon's tail. Then the mouth of the Dragon Flame Enchantixzord opened up and became a hood for the Tigerzord's head.
Tommy, Jason and Bloom: "Dragon Mega Tigerzord ready!"
Jason and Bloom appeard in the new megazord's cockpit.
"Welcome aboard," Tommy said.
A magic panel rose up from the floor. Bloom went over to it while Jason sat at a different control panel.
"Let's show this creep why the Power Rangers and Winx Club are not to be trifled with," Tommy said.
"Let's try to all the heads at once," Bloom said. "So it doesn't get wise to our strategy."
"Flora, tie that thing's heads together," Jason said.
"Got it!" Flora replied. "Vine Rope!"
Vines grew up out of the ground and wrapped around the Hydra's necks.
"These vines won't hold him long enough," Flora said. "Helia, girls, give me a hand."
Tecna: "Digital Rope!"
Stella: "Light Rope!"
Layla: "Morphix Rope!"
Helia roped the Hydra's necks with his energy ropes.
"It's still struggling too much!" Tecna said.
"I'll take care of that," Musa said. "Sonic Stunner!"
Sonic waves temporarily stunned the Hydra.
"Now, guys!" Musa said to the ones in the megazord.
A fire sword appeared in the Dragon Mega Tigerzord's right hand.
Tommy, Jason and Bloom: "Fire Sword, final strike!"
The Fire Sword slashed through the Hydra's necks.
Winx Club (excluding Bloom): "Convergence Barrier!"
The barrier covered everyone within the blast range as the Hydra exploded.
After the smoke cleared the Power Rangers and Winx Club assisted Red Fountain in repairing the gate.
"Headmaster Saladin," one of the Red Fountain students said. "Why is the Winx Club here and who are those other teens?"
The three teams sat in the ship, talking with Miss Faragonda and Zordon.
"No matter where I go, Zedd manages to find me," Bloom said.
"And we've traveled to several different locations across the Magical Dimension," Timmy said.
"Wait," Tommy said. "'Across the Magical Dimension.'"
"What are you thinking about, Tommy"? asked Tecna.
"Timmy's right," Tommy replied. "Zedd has tracked us across the Magical Dimension. What if we left the Magical Dimension?"
"Exactly," Sky said. "Take Bloom to Earth."
"Just might be like throwing Zedd a curveball," Zack said.
"I agree," Zordon said. "It is a sound plan."
"Pack your bags," Tommy said. "Tomorrow, we're going back home."
