It was game time for Silver Wolf. Having just returned from a mission, the geeky Stellaron Hunter yawned and said: "Man… I'm beat. That was a pretty boring job. I better chill out and game some, that'll help me wake up…" She then flopped onto the nearby couch that sat in the lounge of the Stellaron Hunters' base. She kicked up her feet and rested them on the far end cushion, relaxing her body. Looking up at the ceiling, she proceeded to take out her phone and hold it over her face. She swiped on the home screen and scrolled until she found the app she wanted to play on: Among Us. As the game started up, she cracked a mischievous smirk and said, "Game on!", while chuckling in a playful way.
Entering a match, Silver Wolf realized that she played at the right time, since she got the impostor role straight away. "Heh… Epic. This'll be fun!", she said. She then spent a few minutes carefully deciding who she was going to make the other players suspect, instead of her. As she did this, she suddenly saw something odd that grabbed her full attention: A player with a blue avatar that had the username, "LeonardCalliwell". "No way… Is this for real?", she wondered aloud, "Could this really be this same loser's identity I stole back at Herta Space Station?"
And as if she predicted it right from the start, the player in question freezed their avatar in place. Then, they started to run away after staring at Silver Wolf's avatar (a purple astronaut with the username "SilverWolf") for a few seconds. Her eyes grew wider in reaction to this, and she commented: "Hmph… Looks like my hunch was right. Welp, I better troll him some while I'm at it! Ha ha ha…" Before she could do anything else, another player reported a dead body, likely due to one of the other impostor players. The emergency meeting then began, and players started to type out chat messages. "Ooh… This is my chance.", she stated. She quickly typed out a message that placed suspicion on her target.
SilverWolf: blue's kinda sus, ngl
SilverWolf: i think he's the imposter
LeonardCalliwell: What!? No! I recognize this player's username. She's an infamous hacker that stole my identity before! She can't be trusted! She's the imposter, not me!
This exchange led to two more familiar username avatars to chime in. Both were gray-colored and had similar names. One was, "GalacticBaseballer", while the other was, "GalacticBaseballer2.0"; one was Stelle, and there other was Caelus. They seemed quite interested in Leonard's predicament, so they made some intelligent comment responses.
GalacticBaseballer: Aha! You're the imposter! Among Us! I knew you were sus from the beginning!
GalacticBaseballer2.0: amogus! sussy baka!
LeonardCalliwell: Not again…
The rest of the chat was other players just spamming the word, "Sus", over and over again. When it came time to vote, all the players besides Leonard unanimously voted that he was the impostor. Then, he was ejected from the match into the cold vacuum of the game's outer space. Elsewhere, he sat dejected from behind his computer screen at his workstation. Covering his face with his hands, Leonard groaned and said, "This is so unfair! That hacker ruined my fun times again. And she even got the Trailblazers to gang up on me! Ugh… I guess I should just go back to work and not waste my time playing this stupid game… Otherwise, Herta will fire me…", while feeling disappointed.
Meanwhile, Silver Wolf sat straight up on the couch in reaction as she won the round. Due to her gamer skills, she never got suspected of being an impostor, while the other two impostors were caught. "Ha! Too slow, noob!", she gloated, "And it looks like I win! No surprise there." While she waited for the next match to begin, she then noticed Blade walking across the room and passing where she was sitting. "Hey, Bladie.", she said to him. Blade just glanced at her and made an angry-sounding grunt in response, not saying any words back to her, before walking away out of sight. She rolled her eyes and stated: "Same to you too, I guess…"
Her annoyances at Blade's apathy faded away once she saw that her avatar got its role chosen by the game: It was the impostor once again! Feeling high on both her luck and skills, Silver Wolf cracked her knuckles while saying, "Looks like today's my kinda day! I think I'll mess with our Astral Express friends now… I'm sure Elio and Kafka won't mind.", with a smug expression on her face. She picked her phone back up and prepared to enact her schemes.
At first, the game went smoothly. GalacticBaseballer was completing some basic tasks in the electrical sector. Until, SilverWolf came up behind her and killed her instantly! In the Parlor Car, Stelle dropped her phone onto the floor and raised her voice while saying: "...No, I lost…! This is not noice! Caelus, Silver Wolf killed me!" Caelus, who was sitting on the sofa next to her while still playing Among Us, gave her a look of pity and nodded. "Don't worry, sis. I'll stop her for you!", he replied. He then proceeded to move his avatar towards the hostile player in a foolish attempt to be a good brother, but GalacticBaseballer2.0 was swiftly killed as well. "Augh, she got me too!", he complained, "She's too good at this. Isn't she, Dan Heng?" Dan Heng, who was just standing by the window nearby not paying attention to what the Trailblazer twins' issue was, gave him a confused yet silent stare. He shook his head and asked, "What are you talking about? Why are you two being so loud, like always…?", in an annoyed manner. But this didn't do anything to quell the siblings' sense of defeat…
Back at the hideout, Silver Wolf snickered at her victory. "Heh heh… I can't believe I rekt both of 'em in one fell swoop!", she smugly said, "I'm on a roll today! I'm so good at this, like always! …And I'm feelin' better already." After ten more minutes, she reached the end of that second match with yet another win. She was not found out about being an impostor and she was the last one left standing once more. "Another top ranking in the leaderboard, and another game mastered by the legendary Silver Wolf! It's amazin'. Not even Stelle or Caelus can stop me…", she said while relishing in her victory.
Her bragging was then suddenly interrupted by an entrancing voice ringing out next to the couch that said: "...What's this about Stelle and Caelus? You weren't too hard on them, were you?" Silver Wolf turned her phone off and put it away in her pocket to see who was speaking to her. It was Kafka, who seemingly teleported right beside her from out of nowhere. Not fazed by her colleague's strange behavior, she gave her a contemplative stare and said, "Not really. I just owned their asses in a game I was playing with them, that's all.", while shrugging her shoulders.
"...A game, hm? You sure like those.", Kafka commented, "If you really think about it, our own jobs and roles within Elio's script is like a game itself… With it always needing careful planning in order to win the best possible outcome." This cryptic answer led Silver Wolf to shake her head out of frustration. "Sheesh… You always gotta make everything so philosophical… Anyway, whaddaya want from me? I was in the middle of relaxing earlier.", she said. Kafka adjusted her gloves and smiled slightly wider, then saying: "Elio says we have another job to do, just the two of us. Let's go now, you can't relax too much yet…" She rolled her eyes at this, feeling bored that she would have to go on another terrible mission after she just finished one earlier that day.
She stood up from the couch and stretched for a brief moment, before answering, "Alright, fine… Guess I have no choice. But on the bright side, at least I can play Among Us irl a lot, which beats out the real thing. I'll just bear with it for now…", with a wry smirk on her tired face. Kafka patted her shoulder briefly out of pity. "I like your attitude, Silver Wolf. You manage to keep your destiny in focus…", she said. Silver Wolf became cynical once more and closed off their conversation with: "Uh-huh, sure… Whatever you say. You're kinda sus at times…" And then, they both exited their hideout and went off to do their sketchy jobs, like any other day…
[Writer's Commentary: I have a confession to make: I've never actually played Among Us once in my entire life! I know, shocking. But I did research it and knew about the memes surrounding it before writing this story, so please don't be too upset with me. I got the idea for Silver Wolf to play Among Us due to the references to the game in her companion quest, so this was a good fit with her character. I'm thinking about making a mini series within this collection called "Silver Wolf Plays…", and it will involve her playing various video games of my choosing. I think it would be fun and interesting! Also, if you're wondering why both Trailblazers are in this story, refer to Volume 1 of this collection for more information. That's all for this one, and have a good day!]
