Chapter 3: Control

I would HIGHLY recommend rereading chapter 2 (if you don't you're going to be confused moving forward) if you're returning to read this after the update as I have changed some of the interactions to suit the continuation of the story. Especially the Naruto and Sasuke encounter and also added some more content. Review and Enjoy! Also I don't own Naruto (Sorry for the inconvenience)

Naruto sat down in a chair in front of Danzo and he looked at him. "Why have you called me here?" Naruto asked with the same blank expression he constantly wore. " I have another task for you, Naruto-kun," Danzo stated. "What is it?" Naruto asked, raising an eyebrow. "I need you to give a report of all of your classmates, I want their intelligence, physical capabilities and any other important information." Danzo explained, Naruto looked at him skeptically and asked "Why do you need me to do this?" He asked, he could see Danzo ever so slightly shift in his chair. "That is information that you do not need to know."

Naruto knew the reason already Danzo wanted to put them into root but he wanted to see if Danzo would give him this information but smiled when he realized even though all the times he had proven himself a genius Danzo still underestimated him. But this task gave him some power over Danzo, he could actively manipulate what he said and Danzo trusted him enough with this task but didn't give him a reason.

Naruto was walking home, when he saw Shikamaru running towards him. Based on his information Shikamaru was incredibly lazy so seeing the boy run around was surprising. Shikamaru walked over to him "How did you do it?" Shikamaru asked, breathing heavily.

Naruto debated whether he should play dumb or admit what he did. He carefully analyzed Shikamaru. Before deciding to play dumb. "How did I do what?" Naruto asked, his expression never changing. "You beat him, you beat Shikarou" Shikamaru said. "I lost that game, I left which means I resigned and he had checkmate in three moves anyway." Naruto explained but he knew that wasn't enough to get Shikamaru off his back.

"No you had checkmate in two before he had mate in three," Shikamaru said accusingly.

Naruto looked back at him and shrugged. "I probably didn't see it anyway and anyway and I have been practicing chess for a few weeks. I think I probably got lucky but at least compared, but my opponent has been playing for years so it would make sense why I didn't see it" Naruto explained, "and anyway I hope I can get good enough to challenge you someday" Naruto said, his voice monotone.

Shikamaru looked at him, trying his best to analyze any trace of a lie but his face remained calm. His breathing had not quickened and from the looks of it his heart rate had stayed the same he had no reason not to believe Naruto, yet it still didn't feel right something was off. He just wasn't sure what it was.

Naruto walked away and sighed he had hoped that Shikamaru could absorb that information and it would get him occupied while Naruto had more important matters at hand.

He needed to eliminate Danzo at some point in the future and if possible the other children from the white room, the researchers and maybe even the Hokage himself.

But that wasn't necessary. The old man was old and practically senile Naruto could easily use his leverage against him. He knew every time the hokage looked at him a small flash of guilt and sorrow flashed through his eyes. He could exploit those emotions to his advantage but the main problem was Danzo. Naruto needed to eliminate him as soon as possible, he knew too much for Naruto's comfort .

Naruto sat down and wondered a few more questions, the main one being who his parents were and why did the Uchiha clan disappear with exception of Sasuke it was odd that the entire clan of the village disappeared practically overnight and he needed to find out.

It had been two weeks of him learning everything he could about the Uchiha clan and the Kyuubi attack.

He continued to think for hours, deep into the night, pulling out a note booking and writing different theories but an idea came to his mind. He was chosen as the nine tails jinchuriki because he was of Uzumaki blood and since the Uzumaki were known for long life spans and large chakra reserves. But don't Uzumaki traditionally have red hair? He questioned himself but then he did it. It all connected his similarities to Minato Namikaze. He had seen a picture of the fourth Hokage in the hokage's office. It was like fitting puzzle pieces together.

Naruto noted their similarities and remembered his birthday was exactly the day Minato had died. His mother must have been an Uzumaki and also died on the day of the Kyuubi attack. Minato must have sacrificed himself to save the village and based on his knowledge of the fourth hokage, he was an extremely selfless man and probably couldn't convince himself to ask someone else to bare the ninetails and on top of his Uzumaki genes he was the best candidate.

His mother also probably died to the ninetails and that's the reason why was put into the white room, he was a jinchuriki, he had to be kept hidden and sharpened like kunai Konoha could use against its enemies.

Naruto frowned because there was a problem with this story. How would Kyuubi escape in the first place? Sure it was incredibly powerful but Minato was a seal master and could have kept it at bay.

Unless a third party intervened in the sealing process. He let out a small smile. The story was perfect. Everything made sense; there were no holes in it. But who would have enough power to ward off Minato for a long enough period of time to let the ninetails fully escape? Maybe a powerful foreign nin? Or perhaps a traitor that meticulously planned the entire incident? He didn't know but it wasn't important to know he had a lot of very important information that could serve a purpose eventually.

He decided to stop dwelling on it and went to bed, he had more pressing matters at the academy.

Naruto had observed what was happening in his class; it seemed that his class had formed a sort of organized government with Kiba and Ino at its head. But there was a glaring problem: the most skilled and powerful students did not participate in the group activities and really any activities in general although Naruto had noticed small changes in Sasuke. He talked a little more and even seemed to be less aggressive when it came to interacting with his classmates. But Shikamaru was still as lazy as ever. The boy couldn't be bothered to get from his seat let alone help the class but he was glad to see Sasuke contributing, even if only a little. He himself would stay off group activities for now sticking to observation and analysis before going to go interact with his fellow classmates.

Naruto waited quietly. Today was the day Iruka would announce results for this class after two weeks and what place they would get among the four other classes. "Alright everyone settle down" Iruka ordered "Here is our class's result, I am disappointed to say we got fourth place out of the five classes and from now on the ranks will get updated everyday." Naruto was not surprised, without the talented children participating they wouldn't get very far. But he expected them to be last; it seemed that one other class was even worse than them.

Naruto sighed. He made a document of everyone of his classmates but left some details out to confuse Danzo and even gave small bits and bits of lies in the document. He sighed before putting the document in his backpack and went home. He saw the eyes of villagers, they seemed to look at him with anger. Naruto thought about it and it made sense. It was Danzo who leaked the information about him being the nine tails jinchuriki but he wondered why? For what purpose would he do that? Naruto knew Danzo cared incredibly for the village, So revealing its biggest weapon to the public and therefore potentially allowing foreigners to access such information and potentially leading his compromise and the compromise of the nine tails which would mean that Konoha would lose its biggest weapon. He considered the theory of Danzo was just an idiot or someone else had leaked it. But no, that also did not make sense at all. Maybe Danzo was trying to give him a challenge although this was hardly a challenge he did not care for the villagers in any way and as long they didnt attack him or hinder his abilities they weren't a problem. In any case he thought about ways of getting rid of Danzo and Danzos connection to the Uchiha clan massacre. He remembered the day when the Uchiha had been massacred, The elderly man almost seemed slightly nervous and happy that day. He had observed while training.

It had been two weeks and Naruto wasn't getting anywhere with his goal of connecting Danzo to the Uchiha clan massacre. He didn't have access to any important information. It slowed him down alot. So he decided to go outside and enjoy the snow that had started falling a few days before. Naruto walked through a small park only to see a small girl he recognized as Hinata Hyuga. Getting bullied by a few older kids. Naruto debated whether he should help her but quickly decided to help. He saw an opportunity.

Naruto walked over and as the boy was about to punch the girl, Naruto grabbed his arm and threw him into the snow. The other two kids tried to attack him but Naruto quickly scared them off, his face remained expressionless. He bent down and offered a hand to the girl she was crying and he picked her up. He looked at her "Hinata, If you ever get bullied come talk to me" He said in a monotone voice, the crying girl seemed unable to speak and Naruto picked her up and moved her out of the park and into a village where he let her down on the ground and left.
