Episode 154: Just Add Water
Mew and her friends are now making their way to New Bark town so Mew can register to enter the Johto League Silver Conference.
. "I can't wait to compete in the Silver Conference and win it!" Mew says, excited.
Pikachu and Eevee happily agree.
"Fine and dandy but can we take a rest for now?" Misty replies.
"Yeah. I'm getting tired," Molly agrees.
Up ahead, the group spots something
"Look, a tunnel!" Tomo says.
"Maybe it's a shortcut to the ocean!" Brock says.
"To the ocean?!" Misty reacts excitedly and makes a run for it, "Last one there is a rotten egg!"
"Hey, wait Misty!" Mew says.
"Wait for us!" Jen calls out.
Soon enough, everyone begins to run through the tunnel. Soon enough, they reach out of the tunnel and see the ocean.
"Hey, Brock. You were right!" Mew says.
"Just smell that ocean air," Misty says.
Ït looks really nice," Mew says.
"What a great find, huh?" Brock says.
Then Misty calls out her Water Pokemon, "Everybody, come on out!"
Soon, many of Misty's Pokemon come out: Staryu, Corsola, Drizzle, Goldeen Politoed, Psyduck, Lanturn, Feebas, Jellicent, Slowbro, Piplup, Shiny Totodile, Huntail and Gorebyss, Phione, and Vaporeon and Vaporeon-Two. Soon, everyone but Politoed comes into the water.
"Politoed, don't you want to go for a swim, too?"Misty asks.
Politoed soon does so.
All the Pokemon are enjoying a nice swim.
Sometime later, everyone walks along the shoreline.
"This shoreline should take us straight to New Bark Town." Brock says.
Everyone soon sees a sign to the left.
"The Pokémon synchronized swimming event straight ahead," Mew reads.
This has Brock excited, "Do my eyes deceive me or is this possible true?!" and soon fantasizes what he thinks the event entails, "A show where tons of pretty girls in bathing suits perform alongside Pokemon! Hold on, girls, cause Brock's on his way!"and runs off, "Feet, don't fail me now!"
"Brock! Wait up!" Tomo calls out.
"Wait for us!" Jen calls out.
And everyone hurries after him.
They soon reach the beach and find someone minding a stand.
"Hello. We're here for the Pokémon synchronized swimming event, "Brock says.
The young man says, "Ah. Perfect timing, folks, cause it's just about to begin."
Everyone looks and sees a stadium on the water.
"Whoa! Look at that huge stadium!" Brock says.
"Come on, let's go see," Mew says.
Soon, the gang are in their seats.
"I can't wait to see all those beautiful girls!" Brock happily says.
"This IS called a Pokémon swimming event, you know," Misty.
"Maybe it'll be like the Cerulean gym," Mew replies.
"Oh, yes!"Brock happily says and begins to fantasizes Misty's sisters, "Magnificent memories of vivacious Violet, delightful Daisy and the lovely Lilly. If this is ONE HALF as good as that, I'll be one happy breeder."
"Calm down," Misty says.
Soon, the show begins.
"Hey, it's showtime!" Brock says, excited.
When the show begins, a Mantine soon surfaces, followed by a Lanturn and a Qwilfish.
"Okay, looks like all the water Pokémon are out, now bring out the pretty girls and their bathing suits!" Brock says.
But then, they saw a man's legs and feet pop out the water, quickly catching Brock off guard, "Huh? Somethings wrong…"
As the performer dives down, he then pops out of the water, bringing dismay to Brock, "Don't tell me it's a man!"
The young man calls out, "GO!"
Brock says in tears, "It's just not right! This should be illegal!"
"But Brock, he looks really good, you should watch it," Misty says.
"He's doing a great job with Qwilfish," Tomo says.
"Ëspecially since Qwilfish have poison in them," Mew says.
As Dorian and the Pokémon perform, Team Rocket watches from afar.
"Look at em go!" Meowth says, amazed.
"Those Pokémon are something, aren't they?" Jessie replies.
"Their talents and abilities are worthy of note," James adds.
But Jessie says, "No, not that."
"She means dat dose Pokémon will be something to catch and den hand over to da boss, see?" Meowth says.
"Of course," James says.
And Meowth goes into another fantasy scenario and says, "Da boss will wake up after a goodnight's sleep, walk outside and peel off his robe for a morning dip."
James adds, "He's wearing swimming trunks, right?"
"Makes a poifect dive into his poifect pool…" Meowth adds.
"Poetic," James says.
Then Meowth says, "As he starts his laps, he'll say to himself…"
"What'll he say?" James asks.
Meowth answers, "'Since I got these water Pokémon cheering me on every morning while I do my laps, I've been so very happy. And, of course, I've got Jessie, James and that wonderful Meowth to thank for all this blissful bliss. Yep!'"
Fantasy scenario ends.
"Very nice dream," James says.
"So, let's catch em and make dreams come true!" Jessie says.
"Right!" James and Meowth say.
After the show, Mew and the others meet the swimmer, whose name is Dorian.
"How'd you guys like the show?" Dorian asks.
"It was awesome!" Mew says.
"A couple of pretty girls in swimsuits wouldn't have hurt ya," Brock says.
Dorian becomes confused, "Huh?"
Misty quickly says, "He said he loved it, too. So, do you run this water show all by yourself?"
"Yeah, I'm also the gym leader here," Dorian says.
Everyone is confused.
"You mean this is a gym?" Mew asks.
"Yep. It's the coastline gym. I'm pretty much in charge of everything around here," Dorian says.
"Ï'm Mew," Mew says.
"And I'm Misty," Misty says.
"And my name's Brock," Brock says.
"Ï'm Tomo," Tomo says.
"Ï'm Jen,"Jen says.
"And Molly happily says, Änd I'm Molly."
"I'll admit, I've never heard of the coastline gym," Misty says.
"Yeah, me, neither," Mew says.
"Well, I'm not surprised," Dorian says, "Come on, I'll give you guys the grand tour."
Later, Mew and the others enter the gym with Dorian.
"Welcome to the inner workings of the coastline gym," Dorian announces.
"Everything's all, underwater," Mew says.
"Cool," Tomo says.
They soon see pictures of Dorian and Misty's sisters.
"Brock, look!" Misty says, surprised.
"Lily! And Violet! And Daisy!" Brock says.
"Huh? So you've been to the Cerulean gym?" Dorian asks, surprised.
"Of course," Everyone, but Misty and Molly answer.
Then Misty asks, "But, how do you know about the Cerulean gym, Dorian?
"I've dreamt of having a gym just like it," Dorian says.
"And why's that?" Misty asks.
"I always loved water Pokemon, and I've been to the Cerulean gym tons of times. My dream, is to someday make my gym just like the Cerulean gym," Dorian says.
"So that's why you're doing Pokemon synchronized swimming shows," Misty says.
"Right. But, for the time being, it's still a private gym," Dorian says.
"A private gym?" Mew questions.
"I guess that's why we've never heard of it before," Brock says.
"Okay. Did the trainers at the Cerulean gym mention anything about a sister?" Misty asks.
"Let me see," Dorian says, and remembers, "There was Lilly, and Daisy, and, of course, Violet."
"Uh huh. That's right," Misty says.
"And that's basically it," Dorian says.
"Come on. Cuter, far more superior to the other three," Misty says.
Soon, Dorian says, "Now I remember!"
"Yes? Yes? So, tell me," Misty says, eagerly.
"Well, they did mention something about a sister, but she was pretty out of control. A bit of a loser," Dorian says.
"A bit of a...? A loser?" Misty questions.
"Exactly. They mentioned how sad they were that the baby of the family had turned out to be a real baby," Dorian says.
That really irked Misty, "Wait a minute, they called me a real baby? The nerve of those sisters of mine!
Dorian says in surprise, "So, wait. You were the loser they were talking about?"
"I'm no loser!" Misty shouts.
She then quickly calms down, "But, yes, I am the prettiest and most talented of all of the Cerulean gym trainers."
But Dorian says, "Well, if you ask me, not that you would, I'd say Lily was the most talented and beautiful."
"I am the most talented and beautiful!" Misty shouts, offended.
"You sure about that?" Brock questions.
"Was I talking to you, Brock?!" Misty shouts at Brock.
Then turns to Dorian, "And another thing, I'm the one who loves water Pokémon the most!"
"Oh, really?" Dorian says and crosses his arms, "No one loves water Pokémon more than me."
"Yeah? Then let's battle," Misty says.
"Fine with me, Misty," Dorian says.
And Misty says, "It'll be my pleasure to show you who the top Cerulean trainer really is."
Meanwhile, beneath the sea, Team Rocket is in their sub, but James and Meowth are the only ones pedaling.
Jessie sighs, "This is the life. Traveling by submarine surely gets my vote."
"You helpin' us pedal, dat's my vote!" Meowth says.
"Now, now. Don't say something that might knock the queen from her pedestal!" James says.
Suddenly, the sub soon crashes into something.
"Were you talking to me?" Jessie asks.
"Meowth, you really have a way with words," Meowth says.
In the periscope, a Mantine is seen charging in before it's revealed that the Mantine, Lanturn and Qwilfish from the show are surrounding the sub.
"Do you tink dat maybe dose Pokémon wanna play wit us?" Meowth asks, nervously.
"Even though we're not a real Magikarp, we are an incredible simulation," James says.
"And a sturdy one at that, so there's no need for us to worry," Jessie says.
Suddenly, water starts leaking in.
Team Rocket cries out, "Land of lakes! We sprung a leak! Team Rocket's sinking again!"
And the sub crashes.
Meanwhile, Mew and the others get a glimpse of the battlefield.
"And this is my underwater battlefield," Dorian says.
"Excellent!" Jen says.
"After all, water Pokémon can only show their true abilities underwater," Dorian says.
"That is so cool," Mew says.
Misty is amazed, "You know, you're right. I can't tell you how long I've been dreaming of having a real underwater Pokemon battle, Dorian."
Togepi soon points out Team Rocket's sub.
"Look at that Magikarp," Molly says.
But Misty says, "That's not a real Magikarp."
"Misty's right. That's Team Rocket's submarine," Mew says.
The sub and the Pokemon soon surface.
Jessie sighs, "We made it."
"I'd like to show dose water Pokemon a ting or tree!" Meowth cries out.
"Give me some air!" James screams.
Mew and her friends call out, "Team Rocket!"
Team Rocket notices that Mew and the others show up.
"You're not gonna steal all of these water Pokemon, you know!" Mew angrily says.
"Who are they?" Dorian asks.
"Wait! Don't tell us what we can and cannot do!" Jessie says.
"Cause we coulda, but right now, we got udder problems, "Meowth says.
"Yes. Our submarine seems to have sprung a bit of a leak," Jessie says.
Mew throws her Pokeball and calls out, "Totodile, I choose you!"
Totodile soon comes out.
Mew calls out, "Now, Totodile, Water Gun!"
Totodile fires the attack and hits the sub.
Then Dorian calls out, "Mantine, use Bubble Beam!"
Mantine also fires the attack.
Then both shout, "Water Gun! Now!"
And with that, Team Rocket are sent flying.
"I'm sick of being waterlogged!" Jessie cries out.
"I can't even face the thought of a shower!" James panics.
"Den you blast off alone next time!" Meowth cries out.
All three scream, "Team Rocket's washed up again!"
"You'd think all that blasting off would teach those three a lesson," Misty says.
"Guess not," Mew says bluntly.
"Now that that's over, shall we get to the battle, little sister?" Dorian says.
"But of course," Misty says.
"You go, Misty," Mew days.
"We're rooting for you," Jen says.
Soon, everyone is back in the gym and on the battlefield. The trainers are wearing breathers while the other Pokemon are watching from the room.
Misty calls out, "Okay, Dorian, ready to do some battling with me?"
"Of course. Name your battle plan!" Dorian says.
"Think you can handle a three on three battle?" Misty says.
"Misty, you read my mind," Dorian says, full of confidence.
Brock announces, "The match between Misty from the Cerulean gym and Dorian from the coastline gym will now begin!"
Misty throws her Pokeball and calls out, "Goldeen, I choose you!"
And Goldeen comes out of the Pokeball.
Then Dorian calls out, "Qwilfish, go!"
Qwilfish swims into battle.
Misty calls out, "Horn Attack, now!"
Goldeen charges in
Dorian calls out, "Dodge it, Qwilfish!"
Qwilfish does so.
Then Dorian calls out, "Tackle attack!"
Qwilfish nails Goldeen.
"Qwilfish, keep up those Tackle attacks!" Dorian calls out.
But Misty says, "Goldeen, Agility!
Goldeen dodges every single Tackle attempt and strikes back at the right moment.
"Goldeen and Qwilfish are both pretty good!" Brock says.
"I never knew that underwater battling could be so exciting!" Mew says.
"This is awesome!"Tomo says.
Then Misty calls out the next attack, "Goldeen, use Supersonic!"
Goldeen calls out the attack, but Qwilfish appears to resist.
Dorian calls out, "Qwilfish, Pin Missile, now!"
Qwilfish launches the attack.
Then Misty calls out, "Goldeen, smack it right back!"
Using its tail, Goldeen blocks the attack.
"Nice," Dorian says, impressed.
Then Misty calls out, "Horn Drill!"
Goldeen charges and makes its horn spin.
Dorian calls out, "Dodge it, and use Pin Missile!"
Qwilfish does so, hitting Goldeen hard.
"Goldeen!" Misty calls out.
Then Dorian calls out, "Finish it with Take Down!"
Qwilfish charges and slams Goldeen into a rock, knocking it out.
Brock announces, "Goldeen is unable to battle, Qwilfish wins!"
"That's one win for me, Misty. Qwilfish, return," Dorian says.
Qwilfish stands down.
Dorian calls out, "Okay, Mantine, you're up."
Mantine swims up.
"That was great, Goldeen. Take a long rest,"Misty says, putting Goldeen's Pokeball away.
Then brings out her next one, "Now for something completely different! Check this out! Corsola, I choose you!"
And Corsola comes out.
"Whoa! Corsola's up against Mantine!" Jen says, amazed.
Both Pokémon stare each other down.
"I can't lose. I just can't lose this," Misty says.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket spies on the gym from afar.
"Those so-called twerps have made sorry, soggy fools out of us for the last time!" Jessie says.
"But once they see our new toy…" James says.
"Dey'll be da ones who're all wet!" Meowth says.
Back underwater….
Dorian calls out, "Mantine, Supersonic!"
Mantine launches the attack, but Corsola fights back.
Misty then calls out, "Corsola, Tackle as hard as you can!"
Corsola darts in and nails Mantine.
"Mantine, use Wing Attack!" Dorian calls out.
Mantine charges right through Corsola twice.
"Be strong, Corsola, Spike Cannon, now!" Misty calls out.
Corsola fires the attack.
But Dorian calls out, "Mantine, move from Agility into Tackle!"
Mantine does so, avoiding the Spike Cannon and nailing Corsola hard enough to send it into a rock.
"Oh no! Corsola!" Molly cries out.
Then Misty calls out, "Corsola, Recover!"
Corsola soon starts glowing.
"What?! Recover?!" Dorian replies, surprised.
Corsola is soon back to full strength
Then Misty says, "Alright, Corsola, Spike Cannon!"
Corsola fires the attack and it nails Mantine.
"Mantine!" Dorian calls out.
Then Misty calls out the next attack, "Now, Corsola, Tackle attack!"
Corsola darts in, nails Mantine and sends it into a rock, knocking it out.
"Mantine is unable to battle, Corsola wins!" Brock announces.
Misty cheers, "Alright!"
"Mantine, come back and rest," Dorian says, and Misty does just that.
Then Dorian says, "Wow. Misty's not too bad."
"Next, our third and last battle!" Brock announces.
Then Dorian calls out, "Okay, Lanturn, you're up!"
"Well, in that case, feast your eyes on my choice of Pokémon!" Misty says.
She then calls out, "Go Piplup!"
And Piplup comes out of the Pokeball.
But just then, an underwater cyclone heads their way and then vanishes just as fast as it came.
"What was that?" Misty asks, shocked.
And soon, Team Rocket is soon heard laughing.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble, you're about to get pumped!
James:
And make it double after the way we got soaked!
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all people within our nation.
Jessie:
V is for victory, so don't you forget!
James:
We'll be victorious and won't break a sweat!
Jessie:
Jessie!
James:
James!
Jessie:
Team Rocket blasts off like a torpedo in flight.
James:
Surrender now or prepare for a watery fight!
Meowth:
Chop chop, dat's right!
And it's revealed that Meowth is seen inside a giant robotic Krabby.
"Team Rocket!" The group exclaims.
Jessie laughs, "Ha! It slices and dices and it steals Pokemon!"
"Absolutely amazing!" James says.
Soon, everyone begins to get sucked into the robot's cyclone generators.
"At last, a machine day really woiks!" Meowth says.
Mew calls out, "Totodile, Water Gun!"
And Totodile comes out to attack.
Misty calls out, "Piplup, use Bubble Beam!"
Piplup swims for the attack.
Dorian calls out, "Qwilfish, Pin Missile!"
Qwilfish swims into battle
In the robot, James says, "I don't think so!"
"Full suction power!" Jessie says.
The cyclone increases and mananges to suck Totodile and Qwilfish. Piplup is swimming against the current as fast as it can get, and soon able to break free.
Dorian cries out, "Qwilfish!"
"Totodile!" Mew cries out.
Mantine and Lanturn are soon sucked in, too.
"I have to try and stop that machine!" Misty says and throws her Pokeball, "Corsola, I choose you!"
Misty calls out, "Tackle that machine!"
Both Pokemon charge and attack the robotic crab's arms.
"Uh oh!" Team Rocket cries out.
The crab's arms end up moving around and the cyclone ends up sucking Misty. Piplup panics and tries to pull Misty out, but ends up getting thrown out as Misty is sucked in.
"Misty!" Dorial cries out.
"Misty!" Tomo cries out.
"Dorian!" Jen cries out.
"They got Corsola, too!" Molly cries out.
Piplup cries out.
"Pokémon and hostages in, now time for a spin!" James says.
Another cyclone forces the rest of the gang backwards.
"It's been subline, see you next time!" Meowth says.
The dust soon settles and Team Rocket's robo-crab is gone.
"Where's Team Rocket?" Jen asks.
"They got away!" Brock says.
"Don't worry, you guys, we're gonna come and rescue you," Mew says.
On the surface, Noctowl and several flying Pokemon are out searching.
"Hey, Noctowl, do you see anything?!" Mew asks.
Noctowl flies ahead.
"Looks like they might have spotted something!" Brock says.
"Great! Let's go!" Mew says.
Piplup becomes determined and begins swimming ahead to find Misty and the others.
Meanwhile, Misty and Dorian are seen to have been gagged and tied up.
Meowth laughs, "We may have gotten more den we bargained for, but I tink we did just fine!"
"This crabby contraption was a good one!" James says.
"I just knew it would be a good idea to model our weaponry after my mood," Jessie says.
"WOBBUFFET." (I agree.) Wobbuffet says.
Suddenly, Mew's voice calls out, "Team Rocket!"
Team Rocket soon sees Mew and the others.
"Untie them this instant!" Brock calls out.
Gagged, Misty muffles, "Mew! Piplup!"
"Dey found us already?! Dey're messin' it all up!" Meowth says.
"That's right, by messing with us!" Jessie says.
James calls out, "Victreebel, I choose you!"
Victreebel comes out, but tries to eat James again.
"Could you, just once, do an attack?!" James cries.
Jessie then calls out, "Go, Arbok!"
Then Arbok comes out.
"Now, Phanpy, I choose…" Mew calls out.
However, Piplup steps in, Piplup angrily says, "Pip Pip Piplup Pip Piplup!" (Alright, you three, let Misty go!)
"What?!" Jessie and James say, confused.
"What's that Piplup doing?" Meowth questions.
Brock and the others are able to help Misty and Dorian break free of their restraints.
"Misty, I think Piplup wants to battle," Mew says.
Jessie angrily says, "That does it, this game's over! Now, Arbok, use Bite attack!"
Arbok leaps in and tries to bite Piplup, but Piplup dodges and tries at Arbok's head with Peck.
Then James calls out, "Victreebel, Razor Leaf!"
Piplup then uses Peck to knock the Razor Leaves out of the way. Then uses Furry Attack on it.
"Woah! Piplup is really going at it!" Jen says.
"Go Piplup, give them your Water Gun Attack!"Misty calls out.
Piplup then sprays Water Gun at them.
"Great, use Bubble Beam!" Misty calls out.
And then Piplup uses Bubble Beam and it strikes at them with full force.
Soon, Piplup lets out a cry and soon begins to glow.
"What's going on?!" Dorian asks.
"Piplup is…" Tomo says.
"Misty, your Piplup is starting to evolve," Mew says.
Piplup changes its shape as it grows. When the light and evolution is done, Piplup is now a blue, penguin-like Pokémon. It is mostly dark blue with light blue facial markings, wing tips, and lower body. Its eyes are blue and it has a short yellow beak with a small point above it. Two large, yellow ridges extend from its beak over the back of its head and meet just above the nape of its neck. On its body are four large, white spots that resemble buttons. Instead of arms, it has long, sturdy, flipper-like wings that are capable of knocking over and snapping trees. It has short legs with yellow, three-toed feet.
"Piplup evolved," Misty says.
"What Pokemon is that?" Molly asks.
"It's a Prinplup," Mew says.
She gets out her Pokedex and Dexter says, "Prinplup, the Penguin Pokemon and the evolved form of Piplup. A Water Type. Its wings deliver wicked blows that snap even the thickest of trees. It searches for prey in icy seas."
"Alright Prinplup, time to show Team Rocket what you're made of!" Misty says.
Prinplup agrees, charges, as its wings glow and strikes at Arbok and Victreebel with full force, causing them to be thrown back at Team Rocket.
"That was Metal Claw!" Tomo says in shock.
"Prinplup must have learned it after it evolved," Brock says.
"You were great, Prinplup, but now, it's time to get Team Rocket off, give them your Whirlpool!" Misty calls out.
Prinplup then performs Whirlpool, pulling Team Rocket in and sending them spinning. And soon, Team Rocket is sent blasting off.
Meowth cries out, "Not again!"
"Why us?!" Jessie cries out.
"We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out as they're being blasted off.
Dorian is amazed, "What power!"
"Thanks," Misty says, and pat Prinplup, "You were amazing."
Prinplup feels proud of herself.
A bit later, Dorian's Pokémon, Totodile and Corsola are seen to be free.
"I'm so glad you're all safe," Dorian says, relieved.
"Hey, Corsola, you okay, too?" Misty asks.
Corsola happily confirms.
"Totodile's doing just fine," Mew says.
"Well, I still can't get over that Prinplup of yours. It really saved the day," Dorian says.
"Hey, Dorian. It's too bad we couldn't have finished our battle before," Misty says.
"I know. But what if we had been able to finish it, and you might've won when your Piplup evolves during the battle," Dorian says.
Misty smiles, "Well, I guess we could call it a draw, since we each had one win and one loss."
"That sounds fine by me," Dorian says.
"Alright, that's that," Misty says.
"I gotta tell you something. Battling with you has been just great. And Misty, you're every bit as strong a trainer as your three sisters are," Dorian says.
"Oh, that's so nice of you," Misty says, "I've sure learned a lot about battling underwater here in your awesome gym."
"It's a shame that such a fantastic gym is only known by a handful of people," Brock says.
Then Mew has an idea, "I know! When we get to the Silver Conference, we'll tell everybody about the coastline gym!
"Yeah?" Dorian says.
Misty likes the idea, "Good idea. We'll say that when it comes to underwater battling, it's the best."
"I'm sure that once the word gets out, you'll have people coming from all over the place," Brock says.
"And then I'll bet, before you know it, You'll have an official gym!" Misty says.
Dorian is happy to hear it, "That'd be great! Thank you. Say, Misty, I have to take a quick trip over to the Cerulean gym. When I see your sisters, I'll be sure to tell them you say hello and also how great you're doing. Okay?"
"Yeah! That would be really great. Thanks," Misty says.
Later that evening, everyone bids farewell to Dorian.
"Good luck!" Tomo calls out.
Dorian calls out, "Take care, you guys! Thanks for everything!"
Mew and her friends continue to make their way to New Bark Town. Saying goodbye is never easy, especially if you're bidding farewell to an old friend, but good memories never leave. And for Misty, the detour on the road to New Bark Town is a time she will never forget. And especially since her Piplup evolved into Prinplup and learned a new move. And now, Mew and her friends continue on their adventure.
