Episode 165: A Hale Mother and Daughter Reunion
Last time, Mew and her friends have a sudden encounter with the Unown. Thanks to Team Rocket's interference, they end up in Larvitar's mind and reveal the shocking and devastating separation of Larvitar and his mother back when he's still an egg by Pokemon poachers. Understanding how Larvitar felt, Molly and the others are able to help Larvitar be more open and now he is able to trust them. Once home, the Unown and its friends bring a human woman out of the world and is found by the friends. The most shocking thing is, the woman unconscious is actually Molly's mother.
After the unexpected adventure with the Unown and how Molly's mother ends up being returned, the mother is now lying unconscious on Brock's sleeping bag and a blanket is covering her.
"Well, the good news is that Molly's mother is not in any life threatening condition, but it's going to take some time for her to recover," Eusine says.
"I think you're right. If the Unown is able to bring her back, then she's been in there for two years," Brock says.
"But the good news is that Molly's mom is back and is okay," Misty says.
"When do you think she'll wake up?" Tomo asks.
"It's hard to say. Since she's been in that world for a while, it's going to take some time," Brock says.
"I hope she wakes up soon," Misty says and turns her head, "Molly hasn't left her mother side since we placed her down to rest."
The others look to see Molly is sitting next to her unconcious mother with sadness and hope that she wakes up soon.
Molly lets out a sad sigh and lies down next to her mom.
Marina, and the rest of the group are helping Mew make lunch for everyone. Mew is stirring the soup as she looks to see Molly sitting by her mother and never leaving her side.
"Poor Molly. She hasn't left her mother's side since she came here," Marina says.
"I'm not surprised. She really misses her mom, especially after being gone for two years," Molly says.
"How did she disappear?" Vincent asks.
"Well, Spencer isn't entirely sure on how his wife, Diana disappeared. However, like Spencer, she is also a Pokemon researcher who is helping Spencer with studying the Unown. During one of their expeditions, she suddenly disappeared without a trace. And they weren't sure what happened," Mew explains.
"I see," Jimmy says.
"And then sometimes later, Spencer disappeared during his expedition on the Unown. And his assistant, Schuyler, brought back a box filled with small tiles that have the Unown of it," Tomo says.
"And from what Molly explained, she wanted to know about her mother and found the box and used the tiles to make letters. For some strange reason, they open the world of the Unown and come to Molly. They end up reading Molly's mind and with it, turned her home into a crystal castle," Jen adds.
"Wait, you mean that incident at Greenfield happened because of the Unown?" Vincent asks, shocked.
"It's true," Molly speaks up.
Everyone turns to Molly.
"And I'm the reason it happened," Molly says.
"You didn't mean for everything to happen. You were sad and alone. First your mom disappeared. And your dad has been away a lot and has disappeared. The Unown sensed that and were able to use your magic to make your dreams a reality. Even bringing out an illusion of Entei," Mew explains.
"But you were able to allow yourself to battle Brock and me. And I'm sure you can win badges when you get older, if you're able to beat us," Misty says.
"Maybe, but they weren't real," Molly says.
"Maybe, but you definitely have what it takes to be a Pokemon trainer. Even on this journey you showed what it takes. Even taking care of Pokemon Eggs," Brock says.
"Yeah. So don't worry about what happened back then, and focus on what's happening now," Mew says.
"They're right. And now you have your mother and father back," Jen says.
Molly nods, "I guess you're right."
"Larvitar," Larvitar responds and gives Molly a hug.
Molly hugs Larvitar, "Thank you, Larvitar. You understand what it's like to be separated from family. But I'm sure you'll be able to see your mother again, just like I did."
Larvitar smiles, "Lar."
Mew then calls out, "Alright everyone, lunch is ready."
Soon enough, everyone is having their lunch as they discuss what they need to do.
"So what do we do now?" Tomo asks.
"I agree with Tomo. Now that Molly's mom has been uh, found, and unconscious, what are we going to do about it?" Casey replies.
"Well, we need to get Diana help, and the next Pokemon Center is ways away," Mew says.
"Diana?" Marina questions.
"That's Molly's mother's name," Mew answers, "Either way, the problem is that the next Center is most likely where the Johto League is."
"According to the guidebook, though it's still quite a way, the Pokemon Preservation Center should have the place we need to help Molly's mother," Brock says.
"And we still need to get Larvitar back to his birth place and hopefully find his mom," Jen adds.
"Not to mention the Silver Conference will be starting soon. We still have some time, but we'll need to be quick if we want to make it before we start," Jimmy says.
Vincent groans and rubs his head, "There's so much we need to worry about and so much to do. It's making my head spin."
"I feel the best solution is to get to the Preservation Center to get Larvitar there and get some help," Eusine says.
"That would be the best answer," Mew says.
Zeraora nods in reply.
"Well then, the best we can do is finish our lunch and continue on to the Preservation Center," Mew says.
"But we need to find a way to transport her there," Jimmy says.
"Hmm…" Mew replies, trying to think of an idea.
Then Brock says, "I think I have an idea."
Everyone looks at Brock with confused expressions.
Sometime later…
"This is actually not a bad idea, Brock," Mew says.
"Yeah. Just a little wood from the trees, some supplies and some rope, and we managed to make a carrier," Jimmy says.
And it's revealed that with team work and some items found in the wood and among their supplies, theyré able to make a carrier that is able to carry Molly's mother.
"So what do we do now?" Molly asks.
"Well, we just need to get your mom on the carrier and two of us will need to carry her," Brock says.
And with that, Jimmy and Vincent carry Molly's mother, Diana gently to the carrier. They both gently place her there. Then they each grab the two bar ends and lift her up .Luckily, the carrier actually holds.
"Yes. It worked," Brock says.
"Well then, let's continue on our way to Larvitar's birthplace," Mew says.
"Larvitar," Larvitar happily says.
Soon, the group of friends continue on their travels to the Pokemon Preservation Center to bring Larvitar back to his birth place, and to get Diana help. They continue walking up the trail of the mountain. They walk up the trail and now walk down it after walking up the mountain. They soon reach the woods. They've been walking for a while and Jimmy and Vincetn are starting to get tired.
"I wonder how much longer we have until we get here?" Jimmy asks.
"Yeah. My arms are starting to get tired," Vincent says.
Brock checks out the guidebook, "Well, according to the guidebook, it will take a little while longer. There are some ancient ruins down the trail."
"That must be the ruins where you're going to Eusine," Molly replies.
"You are correct. I plan to come to the ruins for sometime now. According to books, the ruins have mentions of the legendary Pokemon of the Johto Region, Ho-Oh, Lugia, and even the three legendary beasts. Even the legendary birds," Eusine says.
"Really?" Jen asks.
"Yes. I hope that I can learn more about their legends and about them," Eusine says.
"That's cool," Tomo says.
Then Misty says, "Since you've mentioned the legendary birds, Mew has got herself a Zapdos Egg, and two other eggs."
"Really now?" Eusine asks, curiously.
"You got more?" Casey asks.
"Yeah. Mew even received a Pokemon Egg and one of its feathers from Ho-Oh," Brock says.
"Really? Ho-Oh? You got a feather and an egg?!" Vincent asks, shocked.
"That's correct. I have to admit, I had trouble believing it myself at first, and even Mew has a Lugia given to her from the Orange Island," Eusine says.
"You caught a Lugia too?!" Vincent asks, shocked.
"Yeah, it's a long story…"Mew says.
But then, Lugia comes out of the Pokeball and snuggles to Mew.
"Oh Lugia, you got out again," Mew says.
"Aww, it's so cute," Marina says.
"Yeah. My Lugia is a boy, so he's kind of energetic," Mew says.
Then Lugia comes up to Eusine and nuzzles his leg.
Eusine smiles, "But is also friendly too." Then pats Lugia on the head, "It's good to see you again."
Lugia lets out a happy cry.
"How did you get Lugia?" Casey asks.
"Well, I was given him by another Lugia in the Orange Islands a while back," Mew says.
"I heard of the Orange Islands, I hear that the Gyms here are different from the ones in Johto," Jimmy says.
"They are to be honest. They're even different from the ones in Kanto. However, it's also a great way to test the trainer and Pokemon," Mew says.
"That's neat," Marina says.
"I heard you managed to beat Drake who is the strongest of the Orange Crew," Vincent says.
"It's true. And my pals and I were able to battle his strongest Pokemon, Dragonite," Mew says.
"Yeah. and my big sister became a member of the Orange Crew," Jen says.
"I didn't know you have an older sister," Casey says.
"I do. Her name is Kate and she became a member of the Orange Crew. Her speciality is Prehistoric Pokemon," Jen says.
"That's cool. Maybe when I get to the Orange Islands I can battle her. Battle with Prehistoric Pokemon souls is like a rare opportunity to battle Pokemon from prehistoric times," Jimmy says.
"I definitely like to check that out," Vincent says.
He then groans, "I don't think I can walk anymore, or carry this any longer."
Mew then says, "I can take over if you like."
"It's probably a good idea to switch, so Jimmy, Vincent, Mew and I will take over," Brock says.
"Thanks," The boys reply.
Soon, Mew and Brock begin carrying Molly's mom down the trail.
"Wow Mew, you're pretty strong," Marina says.
"Thanks. It's all thanks to papa who taught me how to get strong and athletic, and taught me about Pokemon. Of course, Professor Oak and Gary help me too," Mew says.
"Sounds like you have excellent teachers, and a good parent," Eusine says.
"Thanks," Mew says.
Then Mew turns to Marina, "Hey Marina, what's it like being a Pokemon Coordinator?"
"What's it like?" Marina replies, and begins to think for a minute.
Then says, "Well, I think it's fun. You get to present your Pokemon to be the best they can, and make their attacks look beautiful rather than just powerful. And you get to compete with different trainers with their own style and performance."
"Really?" Mew asks.
"Why do you ask?" Marina asks.
"Well, the truth is, during our adventures, I learned that my birth mother was a Pokemon Coordinator," Mew says.
"Your mother?" Casey questions.
"Yeah. It happened when we went to Bandeau City. We met the mayor Elias, along with his wife, Carol, and his son, Miles who just became a Pokemon Coordinator," Mew says.
"I think I met Miles before. He has a great Cyndaquil and Torchic. He actually beat me when I was trying to earn my third ribbon," Marina says.
"That's him," Mew says.
"And during the time, it was discovered that Elias was my uncle, my birth mother's brother. Which also means that Carol is my aunt and Miles is my cousin," Mew explains.
"Then that means you found that you have a family," Eusine says.
"Yes. As it turns out, my father, Ichigo, was a Pokemon researcher, while my mother, Eliza, was a Pokemon Coordinator when she's young," Mew says.
Marina gasps, "Your birth mother is the Eliza?!"
"You know her?" Molly asks.
Marina then brings out a magazine that has a Ribbon silhouette on it.
"This is the Top Pokemon Coordinator Monthly. They have pictures of previous Pokemon top Coordinators," Marina says, as she turns her page to see a young trainer, which is really Eliza along with her Piplup and Fenniken, "And here she is."
"Wow. She looks just like you Mew," Misty says.
"Yeah. You look almost identical to her," Jen says.
"Your mother came to the Coordinator World as an unknown, and against all odds beat the favorite at the Grand Festival in the Sinnoh Region. She then continued winning in Kanto, Johto, and even Unova. She was a Top Coordinator," Marina says.
Then sparkles towards Mew, "I can't believe that you're actually her daughter. She's practically my idol."
"Wow. I didn't realize you thought so highly of her," Mew says.
"Well, she's a great Coordinator," Marina says.
She then asks, "Did you compete in contests too?"
"No. I never have before. I've seen a Pokemon Contest before and learned that my mother used to compete, but I never competed in one before," Mew says, "But I have thought of competing in one someday. Since I've learned about my mom, part of me wants to try Pokemon Contests, even though I still want to compete in Gym battles."
"Why not do both," Casey says.
"Casey's right, I think you can do both. And you should give it a try, if you like it, then you can compete in more contests. Plus, you can learn more about how your mom does Contests," Marina says.
"Hmm, maybe I will, but it might be too late to compete in one at Johto," Mew says.
"There are other places to do Pokemon Contests. You can even do one in the Kanto Region," Marina says.
"That's true," Mew says.
Suddenly, they hear grunting and groans, causing everyone to stop.
"Huh?" Brock replies.
Brock turns back to see Diana is squinting her face as she turns her head from side to side. Soon, she slowly begins to open her eyes.
"I think she's waking up," Brock says.
Molly gasps and is full of hope.
"Come on, we better place her down," Misty says.
Jimmy points to a specific direction, "How about under the tree where the grass is."
"Good idea," Mew says.
Everyone soon rushes over and gently places Diana down. Everyone moves back to give her some space as she struggles to wake up. Molly slowly approaches her mother and sits beside her.
Molly softly calls out, "Mama."
Soon, Molly's mother begins to open her eyes and wake up from her unconsciousness.
Molly happily says, "Mama!"
Diana slowly lifts herself up and at a sitting position.
"Did you call me, mama?" Diana questions, still a bit dazed.
She then turns to see Molly who has a big smile on her face.
"Yeah, and I'm Molly. Remember?" Molly replies with a smile.
Diana looks at Molly as she places her hand on Molly's right cheek. Molly smiles to see her mother and feels her gently rubbing her cheek. Realizing who she is, Diana eyes wide in surprise. Then she smiles as tears begin to fall from her face.
She then slowly picks Molly up and places the little girl on her lap.
She says, "Molly."
Then Molly hugs Diana, "Mama."
The two give each other an embrace. Everyone is happy to see Molly's mother is finally awake and able to see Molly again and vice versa. Molly and her mother continue hugging each other.
"I miss you, mama," Molly says.
"And I miss you Molly," Diana says.
She then looks around to ask, "But where are we?"
Mew comes in and says, "We're actually at Mt. Silver."
Diana turns to see Mew and Eevee.
Diana asks, "Mew, is that you?"
"Yes. I'm me. It's been a while," Mew.
Diana smiles, "Yes. It has."
"Eevee," (Hi Diana.) Eevee happily says.
"Hello Eevee," Diana says and pet Eevee, "It's nice to see you again."
She then asks, "But how did I get to Mt. Silver?"
"You mean, you don't remember being in the Unown's world?" Mew asks.
"No. My memory is rather fuzzy," Diana answers, "The last thing I remember was helping my husband with the research of the Unown as some ruins. The next thing I knew, I ended up in some strange abyss and I fell asleep."
"That's weird," Misty says.
Hearing Misty, Diana notices the multiple people around her.
"Oh, and who might you be?" Diana asks.
"Diana, these are my friends, Misty with her Pikachu, Sparkle and Togepi. My friend Brock. Tomo with Meloetta and Skwovet. Jen and Amaura. This is Eusine, Jimmy, Vincent, Marina, and Casey," Mew says introducing her friends.
Pikachu then climbs on Mew's shoulder, "And this is my other buddy, Pikachu."
"Pika pika," (Hello Diana.) Pikachu says.
"Hello everyone, my name is Diana Hale," Diana says.
"I'm really glad to see you mama," Molly says.
"I'm glad too," Diana says.
"But are you okay?" Misty asks.
"I believe so," Diana says.
"I'm glad to hear it. You've been missing for like two years," Mew says.
Diana is shocked to hear it, "Two years?"
"Yes. you were trapped in the Unown world for a long time, but thanks to our recent adventure, the Unown brought you back from their world," Mew says.
"This is a lot to take in. To think that I've been gone for that long," Diana says.
Suddenly, Diana's stomach begins growling.
"I'm guessing you're hungry, huh," Casey says.
With a slight blush, Diana says, "Yes. I'm quite famished."
"Well, good thing we made some food for you in case you wake up," Brock says, racing into his backpack.
He then brings out some food, "We have sandwiches, fruits, veggies, and also some beverages."
"Thank you," Diana says, taking the sandwich.
And begins to eat the food.
She then says, "It tastes really good."
"Glad you like it. Brock makes great food," Mew says.
"Well, I do what I can to make sure it's good," Brock says.
"Thank you," Diana says.
Then turns to Molly, "So Molly, how was your father?"
"Papa is doing fine, but right now, I'm traveling with Mew and the others while dad continues his research," Molly says.
She then sheepishly says, "A lot has happened since you've been gone."
"And we mean a lot has happened," Jen says.
"Like what?" Diana asks.
Mew, Molly, and the others explain about Molly's adventure with her friends, seeing different legendary Pokemon, the danger, and all the Pokemon she has seen and caught. Even Jimmy and the others listen to the story.
"My, you sure had quite the adventure," Diana says.
"I sure did, mama. And I made new friends and have an Entei Pokemon Egg. I can't wait for it to hatch," Molly says.
Then Diana notices Larvitar, "And I suspect this is the little Larvitar I heard about." then leans to Larvitar, "It's nice to meet you."
However, Larvitar Hardens, but only a little bit.
Noticing it, Molly says, "Don't worry Larvitar, my mama is very nice. You don't need to worry."
That actually helps Larvitar feel better.
Diana gently holds her hand out, "Do not worry, you can trust me."
Larvitar looks at Diana, and lets her hand touch his head. Larvitar feels a little better.
"That's sweet. Larvitar is starting to feel comfortable with Diana," Misty says.
"I'm glad to see that Larvitar is warming up a little better," Mew says.
"I'm glad as well, especially being told what it went through," Diana says.
"Yeah, but I'm sure Larvitar will be even more happy once we get him home and back to his mom," Mew says.
"That's a good idea," Jimmy says.
Marina asks, "Are you able to walk, Diana?"
"I'm not sure," Diana says.
She then slowly begins to get on her feet and stand up. Her feet begin to wobble as she tries to take a step, but soon collapse on her knees.
"Are you okay, mama?" Molly asks, worried.
"I'm okay, sweetie. Mama just has trouble getting back on her feet, especially since it's been two years since I've touched solid ground," Diana says.
Tomo then has an idea, "I think I know what we can do."
Then calls out, "Go Ponyta."
And with that, Ponyta comes out of the Pokeball.
"Ponyta can help you move a little. And after some time, you can walk on your own two feet," Tomo says.
Diana giggles, "Thank you, Tomo. I really appreciate it."
Soon, everyone continues on as Diana rides on Ponyta. Molly is riding on Ponyta as well, which it doesn't mind. The mother and daughter hug each other once more. Molly is very glad to have her mother back. It will take some time for Diana to get her strength back, but Molly and her friends will do what they can to help. And Mew and her friends continue their adventure to Larvitar's birthplace, and then to the Johto League.
