Episode 178: Gotta Catch Ya Later!

With the Johto League Silver Conference behind them, Mew and friends decide to stop in Viridian City, before making the long journey back to Pallet Town. Of course, Molly has returned home to Green Field with her parents and Jen has taken the ship back to the Orange Islands and back home. Now it's Mew, Tomo, Misty, and Bock, along with their Pokemon in the group as they look over Viridian City.

"You can see the city from here!" Mew says.

"Pika!" (I know) Pikachu and Eevee agree.

"And there's the Pokemon Center," Misty says.

Suddenly, Brock gets excited, "Well, come on then! What are we waiting for?! Oh oh, Nurse Joy here I come!"

Misty sulks, "Gotta admit, he is consistent."

Togepi chirps happily.

Sparkle shakes her head in response, meaning some things never change.

Soon, Mew and the others are in the Pokemon Center.

Mew asks, "Nurse Joy, could you look after these Pokéballs for me?"

"Sure. I'll take good care of them," Nurse Joy says.

Brock then comes up to Nurse Joy with love in his eyes, "Let me introduce myself! The name's Brock. Do you believe in love at first sight? Or shall I walk past you again? Smell my fresh breath, Nurse Joy. It's as sweet as you are."

"You might want a mint," Nurse Joy says, sheepishly.

Brock sulks and sinks to the floor.

Then Mew says, "Nurse Joy, my name's Mew from Pallet Town. Do you remember me?"

But Nurse Joy says, "I'm sorry, boys, but this is my first week working at this Pokémon Center. But I did hear about you three from the Joy that was here before me," Then turns to Misty, "You must be Misty.

"Yes," Misty answers with a nod.

"I have a message here for you from Cerulean City. Your sisters want you to call them right away," Nurse Joy says.

Confused, Misty wonders, "Call my sisters? Wonder why."

Soon, Misty does call her sisters.

Daisy says on the phone, "Where've you been, Misty? We've been trying to reach you. I was afraid it'd be too late."

"Everything okay?" Misty asks.

Daisy then shows a few tickets, "Ta-da! Tickets for a trip around the world! I came in third in the beauty competition! And I'm able to bring, two others!"

As Daisy talks, Violet and Lily are seen in the background.

"We kinda figured you wouldn't be that interested in coming along anyway, so you can cover for us at the Cerulean gym while we're seeing the world!" Daisy says.

But Misty calls out, "Hey! Hold on a minute!"

"We'll be back, before long!" Daisy says and quickly hangs up.

"What just happened?" Misty says.

"I have no clue. It kind of happened quickly," Mew says.

"She deserved to win that trip around the world," Brock says.

"They're lucky," Tomo says.

But Misty says, "Well, I'm not! Why should I be the one who has to work at the gym?"

"But Misty, it's only while they're gone," Mew says.

"That's true," Misty says.

Nurse Joy comes in with a bicycle.

Then Nurse Joy asks, "Isn't this yours, Misty?"

Everyone looks and finds that it was Misty's old bicycle.

"My old bike!" Misty says, surprised.

"It is," Mew says.

"It was pretty bad, but the last Nurse Joy managed to fix it," Nurse Joy says.

Mew giggles, "That sure brings back memories."

"Yeah. It was when I first met you," Misty says

Misty has a flashback to when she first met Mew, Pikachu, and Eevee.

"Wow! Nurse Joy did a great job fixing it," Mew says.

Then Misty says, "That's great! You finally got your bike back! Now you'll get home and other places fast."

"Whoop-de-doo," Misty says, not sounding happy.

"Are you okay, Misty? You don't sound happy," Mew asks.

"Why don't you just leave me alone!" Misty shouts and runs off and out of the Pokemon Center.

"Misty!" Mew calls out, and chases after her.

"That was weird. What's wrong?" Tomo asks.

And Brock says, "I get the feeling that she wanted to keep on traveling with us."

"Oh, really?" Tomo asks.

Meanwhile, Misty is walking along, sad and sulking.

"I can't believe how Mew could talk to me like that after all we've been through. Like it means nothing to her," Misty says, and sulks.

"Misty!" Mew voice calls out.

Misty stops and turns to see Mew and her Pokemon.

"Mew?" Misty questions.

Mew soon stops in front of Misty, "Thank goodness I caught up with you."

"Oh, hey Mew," Misty says, depressed.

"Misty, you really don't want to leave, do you?" Mew asks.

"I… well… no I don't, but you don't seem to mind at all. And the worse part, you aren't even sad about us having to split up," Misty says, clearly upset.

"Actually Misty, I'm not happy about it at all," Mew says.

Misty turns to Mew with a confused look.

"I'm sad that you have to leave us. You were the first human friend I have," Mew says, "But I also know you have responsibility as a Gym Leader with your sisters. I'm going to miss you a lot."

Misty saddens, "Yeah. I'm going to miss you guys too. I remember the day we met."

"I remember, and all the wind adventures we had," Mew says.

"I agree. We did so much and made many friends, humans and Pokemon," Misty says.

"And beat bad guys like Team Rocket," Mew says.

The girls begin giggling in reply.

Soon, three boys wearing similar clothes approach them.

"Well, what have we here?" The boy says.

"Was someone crying?" The second boy says.

And then the third boy says, "You better stop those tears or I'll have to learn to swim."

"Oh, yeah? Who says I'm crying?" Misty says with a frown.

The first boy asks, "Are you lonely?"

Then the second boy questions, "Did you two ladies get into a fight?"

"Who are you anyway?" Mew questions.

Then the boy in the middle says, "I'm Viridian City's number one Pokemon trainer! Kim!"

The boy with the blue hair says, "I'm number two! Kail!"

And the third boy says, "I'm number three! Kai!"

All three say, "The Invincible Pokemon Brothers!"

"Really? You're invisible?" Mew questions.

Then Mew says, "Then do us both a favor and disappear."

But Kim says, "No, we said invincible."

"Fine. Then let's battle right now!" Misty says.

"I agree," Mew says.

Soon, Mew, Misty, and the Pokemon Brothers are at a soccer field.

Kim says, "We'll fight one one one!"

"That's fine with me!" Misty says, and calls out, "Politoed, go!"

And Politoed comes out.

Then Kim calls out, "Go, Hitmonchan!"

Hitmonchan comes out.

Misty calls out, "Politoed, use Water Gun!"

Politoed fires the attack, nailing and knocking Hitmonchan down.

"Hitmonchan!" Kim calls out.

"Well Politoed wins," Mew says.

Then Misty says, "Maybe you should think about changing your name."

"Oh, yeah?! Try this on for size!" Kim says.

On cue, Kail and Kai jump in, and throw their Pokeball, "Go!"

From their Pokéballs, Hitmonlee and Hitmontop come out, respectively, and surround Politoed once Hitmonchan gets back up.

Misty shouts, "You cheat! How am I supposed to battle you one on three?!"

Mew says, "You're not alone Misty." Mew calls out, "Alright, let's even things out."

Then Eevee comes into the battle.

"Eevee and I will make it two on three!" Mew says.

"Eevee!" (That's right!) Eevee says.

Suddenly, they hear Tomo's voice, "Mew!"

"Misty!" Brock's voice says.

The girls turn to see Tomo and Brock running over.

Then Brock says, "I'll make it three on three! It's all fair now, Misty!"

"Oh, thanks. That's nice," Misty says.

"Well, well. You do have some friends," Kim says.

"The more the merrier," Kail says.

"So it's a three on three battle now, huh? Go, Eevee, Thunderbolt!" Mew calls out.

Eevee launches the attack nailing Hitmontop.

Brock throws his Pokeball and calls out, "Forretress, Rapid Spin!"

Forretress comes out and nails Hitmonlee.

"Thanks guys, but you know I can handle things myself," Misty says.

Mew smiles, "Yeah, we know."But since you're going home, we wanted to share this last battle with you."

"Misty, go ahead and finish this one off," Mew says, "We'll just watch. You're a great water Pokémon trainer, I know you can win this battle."

"Knock that Hitmonchan's gloves off," Tomo says.

With a new determination, Misty says, "Okay. Politoed, Bubble attack!"

Politoed fires the attack and nails Hitmonchan while Eevee and Forrestress knockout Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee, respectively. The Pokemon Brothers panic.

"Well, looks like we win," Mew says.

Suddenly Team Rocket pops up nearby.

Annoyed, Jessie says, "Well, so much for the invincible part. They're a bunch of losers."

"Imagine, a team of three losers," James says, just as annoyed.

Then Meowth says, "I know! Let's show em what a team of losers is supposed to act like! Proceed with Plan: Goalee!"

"Wobbuffet!" (Roger that!) Wobbuffet says and presses the button.

Right on cue, two soccer goals come out of the ground and entrap Mew and the others before Team Rocket laugh and show themselves.

"Score for our team!" Meowth says.

"Team Rocket!" Mew shouts.

"Not you guys again!" Tomo says, annoyed.

"We thought you might be up for a little game," Jessie says.

"But already, you've been beaten by two goals. Get it?" James adds.

Suddenly, Kim shouts, "Let us out of here, Team Rocket!"

"Come on, we're on your side!" Kail adds.

"You were supposed to be invincible!" Jessie angrily says.

"So these weird brothers are with Team Rocket?!" Misty questions, shocked.

Then Kai calls out, "Why won't you let us out? We did everything you paid us to do!"

And begin to complain.

"You should know there are more important things in this world than money," Jessie says.

"Which means, even if we had any to give you, we still wouldn't!" James says.

"Dat's right," Meowth says.

That makes the three brothers angry.

Kail says, "Give us our money!"

"We had a contract!" Kai says.

Then Kim brings out some scissors, "Shorter on the back and sides, anyone?"

Meowth screams, "Dey're cuttin' out!"

In no time, Kim frees the trapped group and they surround Team Rocket with demands for payment.

Jessie panics, "Go away!"

Mew then says, "You three should go away!"

Jessie realizes that Mew and the others are free.

"At least the other three got us out of there," Tomo says.

"Okay, are you guys ready?" Misty says.

Mew and the boys answer, "Yeah!"

"Politoed, Water Gun! Sparkle, Thunderbolt! Togepi, Fairy Wind!" Mew calls out.

"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt! Eevee, use Swift!" Mew calls out.

Brock calls out, "Forretress, Rapid Spin!"

Tomo calls out, "Meloetta, use Psybeam! Skwovet, use Bullet Seed!"

Politoed, Togepi, Sparkle, Pikachu, Eevee, Meloetta, and Skwovet fire their attacks while Forretress darts forward while spinning. The attacks combine and form a tornado while Forrestres combine their attacks to nail Team Rocket and the brothers and send them flying, respectively.

Team Rocket cries out, "Team Rocket's blasting off again!"

"You were great, Misty," Mew says.

Thanks, I feel a lot better now," Misty says.

Then Mew happily says, "It was awesome watching you battle like that."

"Thank you, Mew. That's sweet," Misty says and turns to Mew, "And thanks for always being a good friend to me."

"Thanks for being my friend too," Mew says.

Then the both girls hug each other.

Soon, Mew and her friends depart Viridian City, after picking up Misty's old, but newly repaired bike.

"So, Mew, don't forget your morning rituals. Take a bath and brush your teeth," Misty says.

"I'll remember," Mew says.

"And make sure that Pikachu and Eevee don't eat too much. You too, Tomo," Misty says.

"We won't," Tomo says.

Then Brock says, "And, now, Brock. Try not to get too distracted by all the girls."

Brock laughs but then stops just as quickly.

Then Misty says, "One more thing, keep doing your best."

"Thanks Misty," Mew says.

As the group walk along the trail, they remember all the fun and adventures they had together. The pokemon they catch and meet, and the new friends they made from Kanto, the Orange Island, and Johto.

"It's cause of this bike that I met Mew," Misty says.

"Toge?" (It is?) Togepi questions.

"Togepi, it was a coincidence that you and I met, too," Misty says.

"Ours wasn't a coincidence," Mew says.

Misty is confused.

Then Mew says, "I don't believe it could be just a coincidence that I met you out of all people."

"What do you mean, Mew?" Misty asks.

"I guess what I mean is, even though that happened, I think that we were meant to meet and become friends," Mew says.

"Me, too. We've been through so much together on our travels I'd say we're best friends now," Brock says.

"I agree. Same with me, Jen, and Molly," Tomo says.

"You mean it, guys? We're really best friends?" Misty asks. She then smiles, "Yeah."

Misty chuckles and smiles as everyone nods in agreement.

Later on, everyone comes. to a split in the road.

"Guess I'll be going this way," Misty says.

"Yeah," Mew

"Take care, Mew. You too, Tomo," Misty says.

"You too, Misty," Mew says.

Then Misty asks, "Will I see you again?"

"You will. I swear," Mew says.

Suddenly, Brock shouts, "HOLD EVERYTHING!"

That startles everyone.

"What's gotten into you, Brock?" Mew says.

"You scared us," Misty says.

And Brock says, "Actually, I also have to go back home right away."

Everyone is in shock and surprise at the news.

Then Brock says, "I got an email saying I had to go back and take care of some errands and stuff and I almost forgot."

"How could you forget something like that?" Tomo asks.

"Uh... I'm not sure, exactly," Brock says.

But Misty says, "Maybe because you didn't want to leave?"

"Probably," Brock says.

Misty smiles, "I know, Brock. I understand."

Mew and Tomo simply look with calm smiles, but deep down, they're saddened to be away from good friends.

"Well, I guess this is where we all split up," Brock says.

Misty asks, "Are you sure you'll be okay without us, guys?"

"We'll be fine," Mew says.

"What will you do, Tomo?" Brock asks.

"Well, after talking to Professor Oak, I'm going to live with him and Mew at the lab," Tomo says.

"Make sense, you look up to Mew like an older sister, and you both have quite a few in common," Brock says.

"Yeah," Mew says.

Brock says, "See you then."

"Goodbye," Misty says.

"So long," Mew says

Everyone begins to go their separate ways.

Mew smiles and says, "Misty, thank you. And Brock, I know that there's no way I could've, ever…"

"Go on," Brock says.

"If you have something to say, Mew, then say it," Misty says.

"Yeah, we're all ears," Brock says.

Mew and Tomo reel back in surprise.

"Why are you creeping up on us like that?!" Mew asks.

"Sorry, I forgot to give this to you. Something to eat. A lunch box picnic, with matching cutlery, "Brock says, and holds the lunchbox.

Then hands over a handkerchief, "And this. Makes it easier to carry."

"Oh, you guys," Mew says.

Misty ties up the lunchbox and hands it to Mew.

"Here," Misty says.

Mew then takes the lunch box. Soon, Mew tears begin to fall from Mew's face. Misty's face does too. Even Tomo and Brock start tearing up.

Then all of them give each other a group hug.

"I'll miss you guys," Mew says.

"I'll miss you guys too," Misty says.

"Me three," Tomo says.

"I'll miss you guys too," Brock says.

Soon, everyone begins to go their separate paths for real this time. With sad and heavy hearts, everyone goes their separate ways for their final goodbyes.

Mew smiles with tears, "Thanks guys, for everything."

"I'm going to miss them," Tomo says.

"Me too," Mew says.

"So what do we do now?" Tomo asks.

"Head home, I suppose," Mew says.

"Yeah," Tomo says.

He smiles and says, "Last one home is a slowpoke." and runs off.

Meloetta and Skwovet hurry after them.

"Hey!" Mew calls out.

Soon, Mew, Pikachu, and Eevee hurry behind them as they laugh with smiles on their faces.

The next day, at Pallet Town, Mew, Tomo, Tracey, and the Pokemon are having breakfast at Professor Oak's lab.

"So, did you all sleep okay?" Professor Oak asks.

"We did good," Mew says.

"Yeah," Tomo says.

Then Professor Oak says, "Before I forget, Gary is coming over to visit. He came back a few days ago and is on his way now."

"Really? Gary's back?" Mew asks.

"Yeah. And he'll be here shortly," Professor Oak says.

"So let's finish breakfast," Mew says.

Shortly after breakfast, Gary arrives.

"Hey Gary," Mew says.

"Hi Mew. Hi Tomo. Hey Grandpa, Tracey," Gary says.

"Hi," Tomo says.

"So Gary, what are you up to?" Mew asks.

"Well, I drop by to say hi and to start heading off on my next journey," Gary says.

"Really? So soon?" Mew asks.

"It's true. Gary said he wanted to make a fresh start. That's why he left all his Pokemon here, except for his Blastoise," Professor Oak says.

"Oh," Mew says.

"But why are you leaving so soon?" Tomo asks.

"I don't know, it's like I just need to keep moving," Gary says, "I want to keep traveling and learning more about Pokémon."

"I see," Mew says.

"So, Mew, what's your plan of attack going to be?" Gary asks.

"Well, I'm not entirely sure," Mew says.

"Well, since you haven't been back in such a long time, you should stay home and think about it," Gary says.

"Yeah," Mew says.

She then says, "However, there is this one I've been thinking about."

"What's that?" Gary asks.

"Well, I still want to travel to earn badges, meet new pokemon and travel. But the other thing I also want to do, is related to my mom," Mew says.

"Your mom?" Gary asks, sounding surprised.

"Um yeah," Mew says, "A while back, I met the mayor named Elias along with his wife Carol and their son, Miles. As it turns out, I'm actually their niece. Elias is actually the brother of my mother, Eliza, and she was a Pokemon Coordinator."

"A Coordinator. I heard of them before," Gary says.

"Yeah. Part of me wants to try out being a Coordinator as a way of learning more at the kind of trainer my mom was, and maybe a bit about her," Mew says.

"I think it sounds like a great idea. It might not be easy if you're trying to earn badges and ribbons at the same time, but I think you can manage," Gary says.

"Thanks," Mew says.

She then says, "Bye Gary, I'll see you later."

"Yeah. I'll see you later," Gary says.

Sometime later, Mew, Tomo, and their Pokemon are relaxing in the forest outside of Pallet Town.

Suddenly, Pikachu spots something, "Pika Pi!" (Look up there, guys!)

Everyone looks up and sees something sparkling in the clouds.

"Look at that!" Tomo says.

From behind the clouds, Ho-Oh is seen.

"It's Ho-Oh!" Mew says.

Ho-Oh soon flies out of sight.

"Wonder where it's going?" Tomo asks.

"Maybe it's heading to the Hoenn Region," Mew says.

"You think so?" Tomo asks.

"I believe so," Mew says, "That's where all those Pokemon I've never seen before are. And all of the battles, and the contests to be in." She then smiles, "That's what I'm planning to do."

"Alright!" Tomo says.

Pikachu, Eevee, Meloetta, and Skwovet agree.

Everyone then leaps down from the tree.

"Well then, I say it's a good idea to start making preparations. We have a whole new journey to look forward to," Mew says.

"Yeah," Tomo says.

The Pokemon happily agree.

But before Mew and the gang can get a real running start, the ground gives way under them, revealing a pit trap.

"Guess we should have prepared for this mess," Mew says.

"No kidding," Tomo says.

Team Rocket is then heard laughing.

Jessie:

Now that you've mentioned it, prepare for trouble!

James:

You said it once, but now make it double!

Jessie:

To protect the world from devastation.

James:

To unite all peoples within our nation.

Jessie:

To denounce the evils of truth and love!

James:

To extend our reach to the stars above!

Jessie:

Jessie!

James:

James!

Jessie:

Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!

James:

Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight!

Meowth:

MEOWTH! Dat's right!

Wobbuffet:

Wobbuffet! (All too true!)

"Team Rocket!" Mew shouts in anger.

"Not you three again!" Tomo adds, angrily.

"We heard you all talking about making a new start, well, we're making a new start, too, by going back to our reliable pitfall!" Jessie says.

"Except, this time, we dug each of them a little extra deep. That's the new part," James says.

"Yeah, now you're all in a HOLE lot of trouble!" Meowth says.

"Wobbuffet." (Pun intended.) Wobbuffet says.

"Can't you just leave us alone for one day?!" Mew shouts.

And Jessie says, "Then I guess it's time for you to say goodbye to Pikachu and Eevee. They won't be traveling with you a lot anymore.

"Like we said, it's a whole new Team Rocket," James says.

"And Eevee and Pikachu's gonna travel wit us!" Meowth says.

Then James calls out, "Go, Weezing! Smokescreen!"

Weezing comes out and fills the hole with smoke, causing everyone to cough.

"Pikachu. Eevee. Guys. I gotta think of something," Mew says.

Mew soon remembers his farewell to Misty and Brock the day before.

"Misty. Brock," Mew says, but then she remembers what they gave him before they left.

"That's it!" Mew says, she then gets the handkerchief out of her backpack and gives it to Pikachu to cover his mouth and nose, "Pikachu, it'll filter the smoke."

"Pika." (Got it.) Pikachu says.

Mew soon begins climbing up the wall of the pit with the cutlery Brock gave her. Tomo, Pikachu, Eevee, and Skwovet hold on to Mew while Meloetta holds on to Tomo.

"I am, not alone! My friends will always be there for me!" Mew says.

Mew finally gets out of the hole with Tomo and the others, to the shock of Team Rocket, as do the others.

"What?!" Team Rocket exclaims.

"Team Rocket, you won't get away with tricks like this anymore!" Mew angrily says.

Jessie and James grow worried, "We won't?"

"How'd they loin how to fly?!" Meowth asks.

"I always, have my friends with me!" Mew says.

"Pikachu! Eevee! Thunderbolt em!" Mew calls out.

Both Pikachu and Eevee attack with Thunderbolt becoming so powerful it splits and travels through the ground before hitting Team Rocket and sending Team Rocket flying.

"I always…" Jessie says.

"I always…" James says.

"We always…" Meowth says.

"End up blasting off!" Team Rocket cries out.

"Wobbuffet!" (So what's new?) Wobbuffet cries out.

Mew looks at the handkerchief and utensils, "Thank you, Brock. Thank you, Misty. I guess, this is the beginning, of another journey to become the greatest Pokémon master."

Sometime later as Professor Oak's place.

"Hey Professor. I've decided to start a new journey, too."

"Well, I'm not surprised. You want to go to the Hoenn region, right?" Professor Oak says.

"Yeah, I was thinking I might stop in Littleroot Town first, and I can meet Professor Birch," Mew says.

"Professor Birch is famous for his Pokemon field work. That'd be a great idea to stop by and meet him," Tracey says.

"Yeah," Mew says.

Adriana and Daisy soon walk in.

Daisy says, "Well then, I think having some new clothes and backpacks will be nice for the both of you.

"Mime Mime! (And new accessories!) Mimey.

"I was sure this would happen. So Daisy, Mimey, and I thought it would be a good idea to get you some new clothes, and other needs for your journey," Adriana says.

"Wow. Thank you," Mew says.

"No problem. If you want, we can also help you with something else," Daisy says.

"What's that?" Mew asks.

"Well, because you're starting to become a famous trainer, I figure it will be a good idea for you to get a disguise so you won't get hassled by reporters," Daisy says.

Mew says, "Good idea. I want to continue traveling without getting hassled.

Then Adriana says, "And here's your ticket for the ferry that leaves from Seafoam Island for the Hoenn region."

Professor Oak then gives Mew a Pokedex, "And this is the latest, state of the art, Pokédex for you. It's pre-loaded with information on all the Pokemon in the Hoenn region."

"Wow, thanks, Professor. Thank you, Adriana. You too, Daisy," Mew says.

Then Tracey says, "And you can count on me to take care of your Pokemon for you."

"Really? Thanks a lot, Tracey," Mew replies.

"Remember to take care of each other," Adriana says.

"Do your best," Professor Oak says.

"We will," Mew and Tomo agree.

The Pokemon agree.

With their hearts full of new determination, Mew begins to set off on her next journey to the Hoenn Region. As she and Tomo, and their Pokemon prepare for their next journey, their thoughts are on new Pokemon to discover, battles to be fought, and new friends to make. And another step to become a Pokemon Master.
