Chapter 2

Lancelot and his fellow brothers-in-arms had lost count of how many drinks they had consumed, at this point, they only knew it was several. "Tinder, I just don't get it. I've never felt this way before, hell, I'm not even sure what this feeling is! I've never been so attached to anyone before, I've only had one-night shtands, you know?" Lancelot tried to explain but, due to the amount of scotch he had consumed at this point it was causing him to slur his words.

"Well, Saint," at the mention of his friend's call sign he sniggered at something that only he found funny, "maybe Robin is not a nightstand after all. You've been seeing each other for how long now? It's been your longest relationship yet, so that means something!" He stated with a slap to his friend's back, causing the glass of scotch to spill. Lancelot pouted at the wasted liquid as it ran down the glass and onto his pants. "You see when I met my Vanora I knew she was somethin' specccial, something I just had to have. Tinder slurred as he took a big gulp of his whiskey, feeling like he had just given the best advice in the world.

Saint couldn't shake the thought of whether he and Robin had something deeper than just a casual fling, a notion subtly suggested by Tinder. While Lancelot and Robin had never discussed being exclusive with each other, neither of the men had seen other people after their first few dates.

Mustang and his elite team had found themselves honored with an invitation to the 75th Army Rangers base in Seattle, Washington. The purpose was a personal meeting with the team they would soon be collaborating with on a forthcoming mission. Mustang advised the team to behave respectfully, in other words, to stay out of trouble, especially since the mission hadn't even started. Any breach of conduct or disruptive behavior would lead to immediate disciplinary action.

The Knights pretended to take offense at their commander's implications as if their previous actions had posed any real threat. To them, the previous "misbehavior" had been a bit of harmless fun. How was it their fault if some took a simple game of daggers too personally?

"Master Sergeant Castus, welcome to the 75th Army Rangers Fort Lewis-McChord base!" Colonel London, the base commander, greeted as Mustang, and his team arrived; a small welcoming committee of senior officers and base staff gathered around them. "Allow me to introduce Captain Hawthorne, our esteemed commanding officer, who oversees the specialized unit's division, and ensures operational excellence."

Captain Hawthorne, standing shoulder to shoulder with Colonel London, gave a crisp salute. "A pleasure to have you here, Master Sergeant," She greeted. Her demeanor blending both authority and respect seamlessly.

"Further, I'd like to also introduce Sergeant First Class Locksley," Colonel London continued, gesturing towards Robin. "A highly skilled marksman, known for his precision and leadership among our elite teams."

"Good to meet you, Sergeant Locksley," acknowledged Mustang with a nod, recognizing Robin's pivotal role. "I've heard commendable things about your expertise."

"Thank you, Master Sergeant. I aim to contribute to our unit's success," replied Robin respectfully, displaying his eagerness to be a part of the team.

"Captain Hawthorne, we're eager to collaborate with your team." Mustang addressed her, keeping with formalities but striving for brevity. Gesturing towards his men, he continued "We hope this marks the beginning of a productive alliance."

"Colonel," Mustang said, turning towards the man, "I'd like to get my men settled in promptly, so Captain Hawthorne and I can focus on our objectives without any delay." Mustang's suggestion was aimed at productivity and fostering a joint environment between the units.

"That sounds reasonable to me. I've arranged a casual get-together this evening, to celebrate our newfound alliance. I thought it might serve to help everyone feel more comfortable with each other," Colonel London stated, agreeing with Mustang's plan. "Allow Sergeant Moore to escort you to your quarters. Should you require any assistance during your stay, please do not hesitate to inform me directly." He concluded before taking his leave to attend to other pressing matters.
