Chapter Thirty Four
A/N: I do not own anything other than my OCs when they come out to play. Everything else belongs to either Disney or the Greek Myths!
Whew! Sure is nice to get some fluff in after that 'lovely' chapter over on Truth or Fiction. Also guys, we are about 44 reviews away from 400! Thank you all so much for your continued support, I know there hasn't been much in the way of 'drama' but that'll be coming I promise!
AmeythstDragon14: Yay! :D I know, the day is here, the babies are married! The only thing that's harder to believe is, like you said, Locklyn's pregnant! Poor Gil when he finds out!
Angel Cauldwell: Nope! Jay and Lonnie eloped off screen (because wedding chapters are the devil for me and yet I find myself writing four of them this fic. Thankfully, we've got three out of four done!)
BAL4ever: Thanks!
OceanBlueSeaEyes: That would definitely be sticky!
IWantColouredRain: Nine times out of ten, I get inspiration from bridal sites so if you search the description of the gown, it should show up! :D
danifan3000: Yeah no, that thing was…well we should all be thankful that it never saw the light of day :D
SnowWhite45: Oh I'm so glad you liked the chapter! And yeah Carlos, Clay, and Ginny ending up siblings wasn't something that I had thought of going into the series but after some work, it just seemed to fall into place!
Hope you guys enjoy the chapter! Let me know what you think! :D
Emma winced slightly as she shifted in her seat. She'd been having odd pains all day but she'd been trying to ignore them—it was a nice August day in the Summerlands and Emir had finally learned to relax regarding her pregnancy. Only took the man nine months but then again, she really wasn't surprised.
"Are you okay?" Evie asked, looking over at her step-niece; both her and Dizzy having come over to visit at Emma's insistence as she had sent Emir out of the castle to spend time with Jordan per Lonnie's request. The R.O.A.R. star had her suspicions that Jordan and Li'l Shang were closer than they were letting on and if anyone could get Jordan to spill the beans, it was the man who had practically been raised as her cousin.
"Fine…just trying to get comfortable," Emma said, giving Evie a small smile. "How's business going?"
Evie smiled. "It's going well, Doug says the numbers are doing well enough that we might be able to open a brick and motor store for the clothes instead of relying only on making custom pieces."
"I would have thought you would have had that by the time you made the Cotillion outfits?"
"I did, but my castle took a fair bit of the profits there. It took a while to build it back up, especially with mortgage payments and then saving for the wedding with Doug…"
Emma nodded. She understood how much weddings cost, having had to save up for her wedding with Emir. Sure her parents provided some funds but there was no way Emma was going to have her parents pay for everything.
I mean she was spoiled a reasonable amount at birthdays and holidays, just as Neal was, but that was asking too much of their parents. Especially since a Royal Wedding in the Summerlands would take money out of the treasury if her parents were to pay for the whole thing.
Emma bit back a gasp as another pain ran through her, this one even worse than the previous.
"Are you sure you're alright?" Evie asked, biting her lip as she looked at Emma in concern. "Should…should I call Snow? Or maybe Emir?"
"No, no," Emma shook her head. "Mom'll get nervous over nothing and I just got Emir to stop hovering."
"That's possible?"
"I know, rather amazing isn't it?"
Evie snorted and shook her head, pausing as Emma once again winced in pain. Softly pulling out her phone, Evie sent a text to both Snow and Emir.
I think Emma's in labor- EK
"…Please tell me you didn't just text Emir," Emma sighed, seeing the phone. Okay so maybe Evie wasn't as sneaky as she thought she was.
"I'm sorry but that's the third time you've winced! And I'm not skilled at delivering a child so if we have to get you to a hospital, I wanted Emir and Snow to know," Evie said.
Before Emma could say anything, a spasm of pain ran up her spine as she felt a wet sensation trickle down her leg. "Evie…I don't think we'll be making it to the hospital!"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean my water broke and my kid is coming!"
Evie looked around, completely unsure of what to do. Delivering a child wasn't exactly something her mother would have taught her, such an action would have been unsuitable for a Princess after all.
"Evie? What's going on?" Dizzy asked.
"Emma's in labor," Evie said, looking over at the younger girl. "Any chance your aunt or grandmother taught you how to deliver a baby?"
"Aunt Ana taught me once or twice in case someone needed a midwife and both she and Grammy were out and Ava wasn't able to help fo some reason," Dizzy said as she rushed over. "Does Emir know?"
"I texted him that I thought Emma was in labor," Evie said.
"Call him," Dizzy said, the unusual forceful tone not one normally heard in the redhead's voice but then again, it made sense. In Auradon, a delay in delivering a baby might just mean the baby was delivered at home. Back on the Isle, it could mean the difference between a healthy baby being delivered or not.
Evie nodded and pulled out her phone, quickly dialing Emir's number as Dizzy gently laid Emma down on the ground.
"Okay, are you comfortable?" Dizzy asked, trying to keep her voice calm fo Emma's sake.
"No…but I don't think it matters much!"
Dizzy nodded, more than a little thankful Emma had worn a dress that day. It would make the delivery so much easier. Though she wished she had pain meds to give the royal, this wasn't going to be fun for her.
"I'm here, I'm here!" Emir called as he ran in.
"Did you teleport here? How did you get here so quickly?" Evie asked in shock as Emir almost slid in his race to be at his wife's side.
"Jordan got me here," Emir said. "But since Emma seems to be in the throws of labor, I'm guessing it's too dangerous to teleport her to a hospital?"
"You'd be right!" Emma groaned as a contraction hit. "Where's…where's my mom? There's not a…not a chance she came with you?"
"Your mom's on her way Emma," Evie said from her spot by the doorway; her phone in her hand. "But it'll be a few minutes. Pesky traffic laws and all that."
Emma nodded but groaned once more in pain as another contraction hit. Emir quickly put his hand in her's, squeezing it gently as if to tell his wife that she could squeeze it if she needed to. He was there.
"Okay Emma, looks like your kid is going to be nice to you," Dizzy said as she looked up. "You're in for a quick labor, I can already see the head."
"That's…great Dizzy!" Emma groaned before looking over at Emir. "Next time…this is done in a hospital! I don't care if we have to…check in a month a head of time…!"
"Yes dear," Emir nodded, resisting the urge to point out that the plan was to have the baby in a hospital. The baby decided otherwise. Somehow, he had a feeling his wife was not exactly in the mood to hear that reasoning. Not that he blamed her one bit of course.
"Okay Emma…one big push and you should have your kid," Dizzy said.
"Seriously?"
"Yep!"
Emir smiled as Emma gave one big and final push, the sounds of his child's cries filling the room.
"Congratulations you guys," Dizzy said as Evie handed her a towel. "It's a boy."
"Really? Guess we've given Wyatt, Markos, Maurice, Percy, and Elliot another guy playmate."
"Wyatt?" Emma asked, her voice slightly faint.
"Wyatt, Robin and Willam's eldest?" Emir said, frowning a little in worry. "Remember? He was born like two years ago?"
"Emir, when you give birth without an epidural, then you can see what you remember and what you don't. Especially concerning another couple's kid," Emma said, shaking her head. "And now, if you don't mind Dizzy, I'd like to hold my son."
"Of course not Emma," Dizzy said with her typical face splitting grin as the baby cooed happily in her arms. "Here you go."
"You know you should probably go to the hospital," Emir said as Emma happily took her son into her arms. "Both of you in fact."
"We will, you know mom will insist on it when she gets here," Emma said. "But for right now relax okay? Meet your son. Get me some pillows to prop up against so I'm not holding myself up by my arms. Actually…if you could move me to the couch, Emir…that would be perfect."
"One couch, coming right up…hey Evie? Dizzy? Could one of you take my son from my wife's hands for a moment? I don't want to risk dropping him."
"Dropping…Emir, what are you going to do?" Emma asked as Dizzy quickly took the baby from her arms.
"This," Emir said and quickly scooped Emma up into a bridal hold and moved her over to one of their numerous sofas. Propping her up with the pillows, he said, "there now. Better?"
"Loads actually," Emma said with a small smile. "I should be okay for now. Hold your son, dear."
Emir chuckled softly. "Gladly."
"Here you go," Dizzy said, handing the baby to the proud father. "You want me to call Ben for you?"
"I'm honestly surprised he hasn't jumped at the chance to do that himself," Evie chuckled as she walked back into the room. "And by the way, there seems to be a group of grandparents at the door waiting to meet their grandson, and a couple of uncles and an aunt waiting to see their nephew."
"I know Snow was coming…and clearly she brought David but who…?"
"Okay I know mom brain is a thing but I didn't think dad brain was too," Ashaki chuckled as she walked in past Evie. "I was with Aziz when dad got the call from Snow. Considering we never got any updates as to what hospital you all were at, mom thought it was a safe assumption that you all hadn't left."
"And clearly mom was right," Aziz said as he walked in as well, giving Emir a smile. "Congratulations Emir."
"Thanks Az," Emir said, returning the smile. "But Emma did all the work."
"That's because my sister's amazing," Neal said with a grin. "Grace says congrats as well, by the way. She'd have come but she figured it might be a good idea not to crowd the new addition."
"So did you leave our parents in the dust?" Emma asked with a small chuckled.
"They're all handling parking," Neal told his sister.
"Ah," Emma nodded. Just then, four sets of worried parents rushed into the room. "Mom, dad, I'm fine. The labor was surprisingly fast considering all the baby books said that labor for a first baby might take hours."
"You read baby books?" David asked.
Emma pointed to Emir. "He read baby books."
"Ah. That makes more sense."
Emir shrugged as softly as he could with his son still in his arms. "Excuse me for wanting to know everything I could in case something happened," he said.
"Speaking of babies, does my grandson have a name?" Jasmine asked.
"He does," Emma nodded with a faint smile. "Everyone meet Ethan. Ethan David James White."
"We couldn't agree on a middle name, so we went the Ben and Mal route and gave him two," Emir chuckled.
Ashaki shook her head. "So, since I know you probably had a name picked out for if my nephew here was a girl since you opted not to find out the gender, what would his name have been?"
"I mean that doesn't really matter," Jasmine said.
"I'm just curious mom," Ashaki shrugged.
Emir chuckled and shook his head. "If Ethan was a girl, we would have named him…Eva."
Snow gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. "After…?"
"Yeah mom," Emma nodded, giving her mom a small smile. "After your mother. The full name would have been Eva Dalia White."
Jasmine smiled as she heard that. "Dalia would be honored."
"I mean Aunt Dalia's one of the coolest adults around, why wouldn't you want to name your kid after her?" Ashaki asked.
Emir shook his head once more. "So, when are you two having kids? Don't think Emma and I are going to supply all the grandkids for mom and dad now," he teased as he looked at his siblings.
"Really? And here I thought you'd be all 'no kids for you until you're forty' or something," Ashaki rolled her eyes.
Aladdin chuckled. "There's no rush you two," he said as he looked at his older son and his daughter. "All that matters is your happiness."
"Thanks dad," Ashaki smiled.
"Yeah thanks dad," Aziz nodded.
"That being said, if you wanted to give Ethan some cousins at some point, I wouldn't fight you."
Jasmine shook her head in amusement. "Way to contradict yourself dear," she chuckled. "Come on, we'll get out of Emir and Emma's hair."
"That's right, we should get you to the hospital to get checked out," Emir said.
"Emir, I'm fine. Ethan's fine," Emma shook her head.
David bit his lip. "I agree with your husband, Emma. Your first child, it couldn't hurt to get checked out to make sure everything's okay."
Evie nodded. "I mean…if you have the resources, it couldn't hurt to use them," she said softly; unknowingly sending a wave of guilt down Emma's spine. There had been many conversations between the two girls, about how life had been on the Isle for Evie growing up.
Emma couldn't begin to imagine what it was like, having to grow up the way Evie had with no medical resources to depend on. And that was on top of the food, if you could even call it that. Emma actually had her suspicions that the lack of food was what was making it difficult for Evie to have a baby of her own.
Oh sure Evie claimed the delay was because she wanted to build her business but Emma knew Evie had been building Evie4Hearts since she was in Auradon Prep. She had a guaranteed client base, especially since she was the exclusive designer for the High King and Queen of Auradon on top of designing outfits for all sorts of royal weddings including Emma's.
"…Evie's right," Emma said softly after a minute. "I just…delivering without pain meds isn't exactly a walk in the park. I still hurt…"
"Would you like me to go ahead and call Doc?" Snow asked, giving her daughter a small smile. "I'm sure he'd be more than happy to provide a house call for you."
"Would you mom?"
"I'd be happy to," Snow said, walking over and kissing Emma on her head. "You just rest up okay? We'll handle anything you need."
"Mom, I've only just gotten Emir to relax and let me do things—."
"Hey! I'm not that bad!" Emir exclaimed as Ethan cooed in his arms.
Emma snorted. "Agree to disagree there Emir. And I'm sure Ben would as well, I'm actually surprised you haven't jumped at the chance to call him."
"Well I will. Just as soon as I get Ethan some food and make sure you're okay," Emir told her. Yes Ben was his brother in all but blood but Emma was his wife. The mother of his child. He'd always be close to Ben but Ben was a father too. He'd know that Emir's priorities would have changed.
Besides, he'd call that night so he could tell both Ben and Akiho at the same time. What? He was only human after all.
