Chapter 3
Tohsaka Estate
Rin was annoyed whenever her sleep was interrupted like this. Granted, she was a high school student and needed to keep up her image, so it was expected that balancing her life as a magus and in the ordinary public, not to mention the Second Owner kept her schedule busy. She hated the mornings, mostly because it wasn't often she slept soundly, but most of all, she hated having to answer the phone ringing that had woken her up.
The girl had matured rather nicely over the last decade; she was on every boys mind at school, and she knew this. If anything, Rin Tohsaka was a bit vain, as it was what her father openly admitted a few times. However, there was an issue that came up lately, and that was the rumor she had caught people talking about her.
(Rin Tohsaka, internally): Damn that Shinji! I reject him and he retaliates saying I'm bisexual. So what if I compliment some girl's clothing style? I'd like to look great too… just not with them fighting me over the fact that I'm from a well established family.
Rin picks up the phone, agitated with the person she knew was on the other side. She disliked Kirei a lot for how he handled her family finances. While she knew that she couldn't really argue back with the man, saying that she should learn to be humble, as there are many in the world in need and that her finances would serve better to whatever charities would have received it anyway, she really really hated how he could hold that smirk as he watched her defend herself against the students that thought she was still well off because of her family name. "What is it, you~!"
"Pleasant morning, Rin," Her legal guardian cut her off with a hollow yet amused tone. "Too early for business?"
Rin merely responded with a "tsk", knowing well that as head of the Tohsaka, she needed to keep herself mindful as required of honoring her family name.
She felt her mood begin to sour even more as Kirei kept up his usual arrogant and smarmy tone. The fact that he had the audacity to call her this early in the morning was something worthy of being angry over in itself, and then being cut off mid-speech was enough to make her lose her composure entirely.
As she did so, her voice was filled with a noticeable amount of annoyance.
"What did you need this early in the morning? And why could you have not sent me an electronic message of whatever sort?"
"You seem to have a visitor. I met him the other day, an interesting fellow…"
Rin was now caught off guard, completely changing gears as she wondered who this person was that managed to make Kirei interested.
"A visitor, you say? Who is he?"
Kirei grinned as he was getting his plan in motion by the tone of his ward. Things would work smoothly so long as she listened carefully and did not react in fear. "A young man. He told me he was a foreign exchange student. From what I managed to see, he appears about your age, and held himself friendly and collected, as if he was well aware of what he was doing. I believe that we have reconnaissance scouting here."
Rin's body would tense up as he took in his words. Foreign exchange student? Someone who looked just like her age? He sounded rather interesting, she could not help but admit. Still, she wasn't going to let Kirei have a field day in teasing her with this.
"You sound as if you're interested in the guy. Are you suggesting that he's an enemy? How can you tell?" Rin replied in a playful yet defensive tone.
Kirei hummed. The boy was not openly defensive but he had kept himself passively aware of his position and movements in the church the other day. It was like he knew him. Like they have a history with him before. "You get these sorts of intuitions working for the church as an executor..."
Kirei then shifted to a lighthearted tone. "But don't worry. For now, he may be scouting Fuyuki for the 5th HGW, even if it's this early, Rin. I'd recommend spying on him if you can; you do have that charm with the boys after all."
Rin could do nothing but roll her eyes at her guardian's implications of making her flirt with the "exchange student".
"So, you're suggesting that I snoop around the foreign exchange student for potential information and spying, right?"
Kirei simply chuckled and decided that a little reverse psychology would allow him to get Rin to solve the problem herself. Maybe also throw in a pinch of guilt-tripping so the naive girl would do it on her own accord. "You are the Second Owner. I'm not forcing you to do that, merely reminding my late mentor's daughter of her duties."
Rin was starting to regret picking up his phone call in the first place. Not only had he woken her up, but he was also acting even more arrogant than ever. But no matter how much she hated this aspect of her legal guardian, she would ultimately listen to him in the end. After all, she couldn't really say no to him in this matter, as he was reminding her of the duties that were placed upon her at birth, and the fact that she was meant to uphold her family's name as Second Owner.
Sunday. Two Days after Abraham's arrival.
As I further familiarized myself in the city, I came to understand how the world Dio was trying to rebuild differed from mine. Most of my memories showed that it was mostly the same, except here, the 4th HGW took place in the 80s, and not in the 50s like I had recalled. Technology was actually exponentially faster, but I guess that was because of the fact that the Regression War my world had gone through never happened here. If any good came from that War, it'd be the fact that in irresponsible hands, we could have extinguished our entire civilization in one wrong move, so it'd make sense for our technological advances to slowly return to its earlier peak with the centuries that followed instead of by decades.
Then, there was the appearance of Shirou's acquaintances. One of his friend's from the Archery Club had a sister who took it upon herself to assist the kid with his arm injury. It was only until I saw her face that I realized that I was indeed in a world where everything that happened was the same. This was Sakura Matou, or as I knew of her, Sakura Tohsaka, the daughter Tokiomi gave away because he thought it would guarantee his daughter's upbringing as a magus, and didn't bother to look after her safety as I had found out decades later when on one of my personal missions, I eliminated the vampiric parasite, Zouken Matou. It was disheartening learning the truth, as little Rin had missing her sister, her closest friend, and the life she was given away to was far from anything a parent could consider guaranteeing their future as a magus.
"Hey Shirou, I'm going out for most of the day, so I might not be back until late in the night. You don't have to wait for me for meal times, alright." I informed my host, grabbing my items and taking off for Tokyo.
It was yesterday when I received a call from Holly Kujo. Apparently she was wondering about the topic at hand, as her father had usually sent over a member of the foundation after a phone call. Her being sent a formal letter made it seem as if the government was trying to pry on the family because of the amount of times a global foundation would involve itself with her home, thus, after reassuring her that I was associated but not directly with her father, she had allowed for me to arrive late in the afternoon.
_
As DIO read the information Abraham had shared with him on more of their world's comparison, his heart sank when he realized that Sakura Tohsaka was once again experiencing another horrible life full of pain. DIO could not stand to see such an innocent soul going through so much suffering. Suffering that could have been avoided if humanity had simply made better choices. He resolved to do what he could to prevent this tragic story from playing out again in this world, even if he was opposed to the Joestars.
Vibrate~ Vibrate~
(Brother Brando): Brother... I have read the updates you have given me, and after some thinking, I believe your mission with establishing a connection with the Joestars to parlay with Joseph will have to be a side mission. Do keep in mind: we want them to collaborate, so do keep progressing, just not as concentrated. Your world was one of those that had terrible misdeeds against humanity, and it wouldn't do you well to stand aside to see those same events unfold once more. As such, I will be sending a few of my subordinates as calvary. One is already in Tokyo, a young man that also goes to the school Jotaro attends. However, there is a bit of an issue.
(Abel): What kind?
(Brother Brando): You see, before our first meeting, I would have done what I could to gain subordinates and allies. Some were easily hired, others would revere me, and others...well, they needed a bit of convincing and I had used one of my abilities to ensure that their minds would not stray from what I wanted them to do. It was in case they ever thought of betraying me.
I scoffed. As if those people could do anything to Dio Brando. But then again, Stand Power evened the battlefield in another aspect, so I could understand the man's precautions.
(Abel): I'll see what I can do about their loyalty. If they found out what you did, that'll leave massive distrust between them and us, and potentially make them join the Joestars for their Crusade of Hatred out of mere principle. Will Pucci be arriving sometime in the future?
(Brother Brando): For now, he is building a profile for himself. This arcane society of magi is one we cannot leave to chance, so Pucci is establishing a cover story for himself as a Spiritual Medic. I've sent some gifts for you to pick up in Tokyo for your mission in the case that you cannot handle this alone in the mean time. Do not utilize them unless it is truly a necessity.
(Abel): Thank you for the update. And just so you know, I'm expecting to meet Mrs. Kujo this afternoon. I'll update you after. Goodbye, Brother.
Tokyo, Japan 1 PM
As I make my way to the front of the Kujo residence I recall the documented details that Dio's subordinates and other allies had been able to give me. As it turned out, this was a three person household, with a housewife and singular working father. Mr. Kujo was a jazz musician, who regularly set off for his work and rarely was home. This meant that either the man was getting his lucky break, or he was a neglectful husband and father. It would depend if I could observe how the mother and son were.
As I ringed the door bell, I could hear the quick steps of enthusiasm march towards me to open the door. The look on the woman's face dropped slightly as if expecting another, but she still kept a happy expression as Holly Kujo greeted her visitor.
Abraham was taken aback by Holly Kujo's expression of disappointment when she opened the door to him. She seemed to be expecting someone else to be calling on her, not a total stranger. Holly did manage to quickly compose herself and remain friendly toward him, however.
"Hello there. Who might you be?"
"Hello, Mrs. Kujo. My name is Abraham Ruel, the young man that had sent you the letter of my arrival. I do hope I am not intruding too early, even if you did say you were free this afternoon. May I come in?"
Holly Kujo seemed slightly relieved that Abraham was the one who had sent the letter to her. It was reassuring that he didn't have any ulterior motives regarding his visit; he seemed to just be a regular young man. She offered for him to enter her home.
"Oh, of course! Please, come in. I'm relieved that you're the one who sent me that letter. May I ask, how old are you?"
While I knew that I had to convince the Joestars that I was someone they could trust, I felt a bit of concern for how to answer. I could say that I was 18, just as the documentation stated for my role as an exchange student, but I had checked the biological status of my current body, which was around the 26 years of age I would always normally be sent to each time I would send my memories back. And of course trying to explain I was a person with an archive of memories worth thousands of years would cause a mass panic, which I wanted to avoid. Maybe I could make a compromise for now.
"I am 21, Ma'am. I'm simply here as a messenger for my contracted employer, who's unfortunately unable to have these meetings himself due to some health issues that have arisen." I replied without hesitating. Dio would need to work with me after I update him on why I'm here instead of him.
Holly Kujo seemed to not notice the slight discrepancy between Abraham's physical age and the one she assumed he was, as she merely nodded.
Holly led Abraham into her living room, where she directed him to a seat.
"That's too bad to hear... What kind of health issues, if it's not too impolite to ask?"
"Ah. I believe he was told that the prognosis was a thyroid disorder. In particular Polymorphous light eruption, meaning he's been breaking out in hives since his long periods of time sub-marine. He's hoping it's not anything worse than that." I answer Holly, technically not lying as Dio was "weak to the sun" if one wanted to be using twisted truths.
"Anyhow, the man asked me to deliver his message to a trusted authority of the Speedwagon Foundation, but his condition and the circumstances of the information aren't allowing him to just give that information up front. As such, when he sponsored me for my time spent in Japan as an exchange student, he asked if I could do him a favor."
"Hmm..." Holly was curious to learn more about this "message" that was being delivered to her. "So what sort of message is it that your employer feels is of such great importance, Abraham?"
I was a little surprised by how readily Holly accepted my answer; it seemed like she had just immediately bought the story without question. This is convenient, as I would not need to waste time further explaining myself or my connection with this "employer".
Abraham then began with a somber tone. "Remember the movie The Terminator, where a computer was able to make machines capable of slaughtering humans without a person controlling them? There is an Artificial Intelligence that has arrived from another dimension, and it's capable of doing that. In fact, it might be much more powerful than when your father was fighting Kars decades ago. We are fortunate enough that right now it is in 'sleep' mode, resting until it gathers enough resources, but when it does, we'll have no way of stopping it at that point unless people work together. And when I mean together, I mean everyone together."
I breath in, sighing as I wished I didn't have to scare the kind woman. "Right now, we have a few locations it might be resting at, gathering its resources. Some of the work places include the Speedwagon Foundation."
Holly seemed shocked by the very disturbing news that Abraham had just given her. She had never thought for a second that something so horrible and so dangerous was actually lurking in the shadows. The thought of an otherworldly entity that could slaughter humanity without mercy made her feel sick to her stomach. She didn't know what to make of this. It was difficult for her to process such a grim predicament.
"I can't believe it... But what can we do to stop it?"
"For now, all we can do is gather allies, and put away our differences to focus on this entity. Let your father know about this, that way we can get started and prepared. However, we shouldn't forget that we can't live in anxiety each day." I raise my tone to a happier one, hoping Holly wouldn't be as scared. "So remember to spend your days like you enjoy it. As a mom, you have to be joyful for your children, right?"
Holly felt like she wanted to cry, but then she remembered what Abraham had just said. She didn't want to waste her life feeling anxious and depressed. She wanted to be at least a little bit happy for her son's sake. She had to keep things positive.
"I suppose you're right. We can't focus too much on the threat, otherwise we might drown ourselves in despair," Holly replied. She was trying to smile, but was still clearly a little shaken up by the news.
Abraham could see that Holly was a little shaken up, but she was still trying to keep a positive attitude. He wondered if there was anything he could do to make her feel better. She had been so open and welcoming to him, so he felt that he should say something soothing or encouraging to her. He decided to praise her for being so strong and selfless, even when things were tough.
"You know, I'm kind of wondering how your son is? For you to have stayed this strong after learning what I told you... He must be a great kid, no?"
I chuckle. "...Must have something planned for his future from what I see in the pictures you have around the house..."
Holly blushed slightly as she heard Abraham mention her son. It was true that she did talk about him a lot, as he was the only person in her life that she truly cared about. She knew that her son, Jotaro, was a bright and responsible young man, and she couldn't help but feel proud of him. She was surprised that Abraham had noticed all the pictures around her house of her and Jotaro.
"Oh, yes... He is a very good and intelligent fellow. I am very proud of the man he has become. But why do you bring him up?"
"Well..." I tap my finger on the chair. "It seems that all the Joestar men seem to have a bit of a curse following them. -Don't misunderstand me, Mrs Kujo... but maybe you should have your son get to spend a bit more time around his grandfather. You never know if anything might happen to the family, and if it were me, I'd like to have known my grandpa more than what my father was able to tell me about him."
(...Other than the fact that he would waste the family income on alcohol while having a lot of mouths to feed.) I think to myself.
"Well, you do have a good point there..." Holly nodded thoughtfully, agreeing with what Abraham had said. It was true that the Joestar men did seem to have a strange kind of curse attached to them. It was better to be safe than sorry; she should definitely try to encourage Jotaro to spend more time with his grandfather Joseph.
"I'll keep that in mind." She then decided on shifting topics. "May I ask you something?"
Abraham nodded, giving Holly the go-ahead to ask him a question. He was eager to see what it would be. He did note that she seemed to want to know more about him, and he did not mind talking about himself. After all, his personality and beliefs were a crucial aspect in the success of this mission, so he wanted to make sure that she did not have any concerns about him. So he was curious to hear what she would ask.
Holly thought for a moment about what she wanted to know from Abraham, and then she decided to ask him a very basic question so as not to delve too deeply into his personal life.
"So, what are your plans for after you're done with your time in Japan as an exchange student?"
My eyes rise. Honestly, I've been living this sort of life for so long, I would continue as a Master Assassin killing the syndicates that Merlot had created and associated with in my world. There hadn't truly been time to look for my own personal joy, like the martial artists or retired warriors of old had in the stories. It was likely because of the ability to send memories back to a past version of myself, meaning that technically I was never retiring, but also refining my skills with each version that continued contributing seemed to encourage each 'self' that was involved with the memory archives.
If there was one wish, then it would be...
"I'd like to look for my friend. I was her tutor when she was nearly 5. The last I saw her was when she was 8, but it's been a long time, and I don't know if she still lives in the same area." I tell Holly, being as honest as I could. My heart was shown to the daughter of Joseph Joestar then and there, so perhaps if there was something that Holly needed to trust me, it would be one of my longstanding desires.
Well, she seemed pleasantly surprised to know that Abraham had a female friend despite his rather intimidating presence. He was able to open up to her a bit about his personal life, and he seemed to have a genuine desire to see her again, which indicated that she might be important to him.
"So, who is this friend of yours?" Holly couldn't help but ask; the idea of Abraham having a female friend was intriguing to her.
I chuckled as I sense Holly's mother-hen mood activate. "That would be a bit of an interruption with my studies… but I suppose telling you her name shouldn't cause much harm."
I recall the name she was legally given, knowing that after a bit of teasing from her sister after I messed up when we first met, she accepted it.
Abraham, with a nostalgic and pleasant tone, informed the blonde mother. "Her name is Rin Tohsaka. We first met when I was nearing my teens. She really wanted to learn physics, and I just happened to be a student that was a prodigy at it. One of my first mistakes when I met her was to ask if 'Rin' was short for 'Catherine' which she got a little pissy about, but later accepted it when her baby sister called her Catherine as well. I gave her small gifts that represented the lessons she was learning, and I suppose she liked it a lot because the last one I gave resulted in her kissing my cheek... but all of that is in the past. I don't think she'd remember me."
Abraham's story about Rin was very amusing to Holly. There was something very precious and nostalgic to it; the thought of Abraham giving a young girl gifts to help her understand her lessons, and then the sweet gesture of her kissing his cheek afterwards was heartwarming. It was clear that he cared for her genuinely, even if it had been a long time since they'd last seen each other.
Holly Kujo smiled softly upon hearing my words. "You seem to miss her very much,"
I answer with a gesture of confirmation, knowing that I myself was a dam holding back the emotions associated with those memories. It was what fueled me as a Hitman/Assassin-The Cultivator of Humanity-a Surgeon who used the scalpel against malignant cells.
Seeing the emotion Abraham was hiding under the surface was somewhat endearing to Holly. She had expected him to be cold and emotionally distant, but it seems that he was a man with emotions and feelings under that hard exterior of his- the exact same feelings that were fueling his ambition to ensure humanity's survival. Although, she couldn't help but wonder...
"If you don't mind me asking, why haven't you tried to find her again?"
Because I can't travel back in time like that.
I laughed away the irritation, making sure not to lose any positive relations I've been building here. "She'd be here in Japan, whereas I live in SoCal. I'd need to find a good amount of income to support my journey."
Abraham's answer seemed to satisfy Holly. It made sense that he couldn't just freely travel anywhere in the world; he still needed a stable income source. Besides, if Rin was still living in Japan, it didn't make much sense for him to travel all the way from California just to see her again.
But Holly was also curious about one last thing:
"If you were to see Rin again, what would you say to her?"
...I love you too, Rin...
Abraham straightens upright, and instead begins recalling one of the dreams Rin wanted to accomplish. He felt like a fool from almost letting himself lose control of his feelings from that inquiry. "More than likely, I'd ask if she managed to complete her project she told her father she was trying to make."
"Her project, huh?" Holly raised an eyebrow in curiosity, wondering what project Abraham was talking about, and what it had to do with his relationship with Rin. She couldn't help but notice how sincere Abraham seemed to be about this.
"It was the sort of project that the authors from the 19th century like to describe in science fiction, you know. Quite wonderful when I read her plans, but she had to master Physics first to actually make the drawings into something."
Holly was becoming even more interested in this story by the second, as it seemed to have a lot more to it than Abraham initially revealed. She could understand why these memories were so precious to him, and she couldn't help but be fascinated by the details he was giving.
"Wait... are you saying that when you first met her, she already wanted to make futuristic devices like people did in the past few centuries? How could such a young child have known how to create something so complex?"
How do you tell someone about an Era that was highly more advanced in terms of technology than the current modern age? This world didn't exactly have a Regression War... "Had you ever read the Indian mythology, with Arjuna and Karna? There are phrases inside of it that reference technology that we're apparently rediscovering. If you pay attention, you'll notice that it has details of nuclear explosions-the same as we have as of now."
Holly nods in agreement, as she'd heard about the Hindu Epic "The Mahabharata" before. She was also aware of how advanced the technology that the ancient Indians had was; although it was nowhere near as advanced as it is today, the Indians did have a few pieces of technology that was quite ahead of its time, such as nuclear explosions.
"So you're saying that Rin was inspired to build a super futuristic device based on stories and myths?"
Definitely did with all the stuff she asked me about.
I chuckle. "Pretty much. I'd be amazed if a kid made an actual low gravity device in order to float in the air as if they were in space. An Air fleet would be more likely with the technology we have available now."
Holly smiled as she imagined a little Rin floating in the air as if she was in space. It was quite an amusing mental image. She also couldn't help but agree with Abraham's assessment of how a fleet of airships would be more likely than one floating device to be made with our current technology.
"It's impressive how she has such a vivid imagination. It's a nice contrast with your more grounded and realistic view of the world. And…it's clear that you admire her quite a lot."
Holly noted that although Abraham kept his stoic expression, it was clear that he had a lot of fond affection for Rin. She couldn't help but wonder if what he felt for her was simply platonic or romantic in nature. Perhaps, a little more probing would reveal the answer to her curiosity.
"I have one more question for you, Abraham."
Holly leaned forwards slightly, her eyes narrowing slightly for emphasis. She now had a clear goal in mind; she was going to find out how Abraham really felt about Rin.
As Holly leaned closer, she couldn't help but notice that Abraham's expression was becoming a little bit guarded, as if he didn't want to admit something. He was likely beginning to see where she was going with this line of questioning.
As the two were in the heat of the conversation, a familiar voice could be heard from behind, and suddenly, the door creaked open. Jotaro peaked inside, making sure that his mother was ok, but when he saw who she was talking to, he could sense that Abraham posed a threat. So, he didn't even wait for a response from Holly, and instead, he stepped inside.
At the sound of the door creaking open behind them, Holly turns her head to see Jotaro standing in the doorway, his eyes narrow as he looks over at Abraham. His face is neutral, but his expression betrays the obvious tension with which he sees this man. Not even giving him a chance to speak, Holly waves Jotaro in.
"Could you come in here for a moment, Jotaro?"
Jotaro can see that his mother is waving at him, so he walks in and closes the door behind himself. He knows better than to interrupt a conversation when his mother calls him over, and so he waits for her to address him.
"Jotaro, this is a person I've been having an interesting conversation with. His name is Abraham." She looks at Abraham, "Abraham, this is my son, Jotaro Kujo."
She introduces the two, but she doesn't yet give away her motives for bringing Jotaro here, although it should be obvious to both of them what her ultimate goal is.
I calmly begin to speak. I know that the kid saw me in that position earlier, so I had to stay in control of my emotions. "Hello there. As your mother had said, my first name is Abraham. Full name: Abraham Ruel. Would you like to sit? It must have been a long day for you by now."
Jotaro doesn't respond to the offer of a seat, and instead, he stares firmly at Abraham, his face still neutral but his hostility and tension towards him is still quite apparent. He doesn't seem to have any interest in engaging in small talk with this man, as every second he spends with him feels like an eternity.
Abraham could sense the hostility that was radiating off from Jotaro, and he could feel his guard go up a little bit. He was used to dealing with hostility, given his line of work, but there was something different about this kid that made his danger intuition tingle just a bit. Despite that, he kept a calm and polite demeanor, not letting Jotaro's vibes faze him.
Abraham maintained his calm and collected demeanor as he looked at Jotaro with a slight hint of suspicion, trying to figure out his motives for behaving in such a hostile way. In turn, Jotaro gave little to no reaction to the change in temperament of the man in front of him; he just continued to glare at him, his face blank and emotionless.
It's probably best to call the meeting for today. I look at my watch to make it seem more natural. "I better get going and catch the train. It was great talking with you, Mrs Kujo. And please, do remember what I told you."
Abraham then walks out, focusing on what he was going to do as his first task of the mission Dio asked him to do was completed.
Jotaro watches Abraham leave without a word as he walks out the door. As the man leaves, Holly turns to her son, hoping that he wouldn't catch on to her true intentions.
"Well, what did you think of him? Wasn't he a polite guy?"
Jotaro just stares at her blankly for a few seconds as he tries to process what he had just witnessed. His senses were going off like crazy because something about this whole situation felt "off". So, he decided to test her a little bit.
"He was polite, but... what were you talking to him for? You said he was just someone you just met, right?"
Holly looked at Jotaro, and for a moment, she felt like this child might be too astute for his own good, but she tried to play it cool for the time being. She had already prepared in advance for this situation.
"Well, yeah. But, it's just nice to have conversations with people from all walks of life. And this guy's story was so different from mine that I couldn't help but talk with him. But don't worry, there's nothing you shouldn't be worried about; he's not at all a threat to us."
Jotaro seems satisfied with her excuse, as her reasoning is fairly reasonable and sound. But there was one important thing that she didn't answer yet. Why did she ask him to come here? What did she want him to hear from her conversation with Abraham?
Fuyuki, 5:25 PM
Abraham had arrived at the station, understanding that had he remained at the Kujo residence any longer, he would have failed Dio's task for him, and Holly would have probably probed him enough for him to break under the weight of her questions.
However, that was in the past now. He completed a part of the mission, now he had to prepare for his role as the exchange student. Tomorrow was his introduction.
(...Don't forget about the Grail, you fool...)
And that item.
He needed to look into that. Plus his allies to defend against Kirei, and-
The possibility of Rin being around too...
At the same time, back at the Kujo residence, Holly was still trying to explain to Jotaro why she decided to call him there.
"Well, you see, he told some interesting stories, and... well, he seems like a pretty cool person. I thought I would introduce him to you because I'd thought it would be nice to have you two meet each other."
Jotaro didn't seem to care about that all that much; it still seemed very off to him. Her motives were too vague, and he felt that she had other intentions besides the ones that she was letting on. The fact that this man she was introducing to him was older and male made him even more suspicious, as if something suspicious was going on. So, he decided to ask her a seemingly simple question that was actually a lot more subtle than she might think.
"But what does this guy have to do with us?"
Jotaro's words were simple and straightforward, but they held a very deep meaning underneath it. If Holly was not careful, it would reveal her true intentions. He was essentially asking what her relationship with Abraham was, or rather, why he should be important to them.
That was a fair question, and it was probably the best thing for her to do was to be straightforward with her son. She couldn't lie to him anymore. Otherwise, she would have only made his suspicions worse.
"Well... you see- Uh..."
Holly seemed to hesitate for a moment, unsure of what to say to Jotaro. She had planned for a situation like this, but she never thought that he would bring up that question first.
Jotaro didn't say anything as he watched his mother struggle for a good answer to his question. He had a good feeling why this man was going to be important to them given the fact that she had called him over. Still, he decided to remain silent, as he thought that waiting for his mother to admit to hiding things was more amusing.
Finally, Holly seemed to realize that there was no way she could avoid the question any longer. So she gave in and admitted the truth. Though she tried to downplay the fact, she did admit that Abraham was going to be a part of their lives for the foreseeable future. She then decided to give her son a little more details about this man.
Jotaro was listening to his mother's explanation carefully as his eyes scanned the room nervously. One thing was becoming clear to him in particular: this man, Abraham, was going to be around a lot, given his newfound importance.
Jotaro then had a thought that popped into the back of his head, and he asked her outright about it.
"So, is this guy really not going to be a threat to us? You wouldn't mind if he and I were to get into... arguments? Fights?"
Holly smiled a bit as she saw that Jotaro had brought up this thought and concern to her. In truth, she could've probably said whatever she wanted to about Abraham. But she was trying to be upfront and honest about the situation so that Jotaro wouldn't suspect that there was something suspicious about his appearance in their lives.
