Sesshomaru finally graced his mother's party with his presence. His mother only threw these damn parties so she could judge everyone. Of course, today, his mother had an unlikely sidekick. Kagome, and it was amusing.

He smirked to himself before walking out and up behind her.

She was so busy paying attention to others that she didnt even notice him. But the other demoness did.

"Lord Sesshomaru," The demoness bowed.

Kagome turned her head and smiled, but it soon faded as the demoness made their attack.

"Your lover here was just introducing herself,"

Kagome turned to look at the woman, "What, no, it's not like that,"

The women burst out laughing. "You silly girl, of course, we only tease," One said,

"No one believes that ridiculous headlines my dear," Another said,

"How cute, she thinks to defend!" They all laughed and he saw Kagome shoulder slump, her fire and fun fizzled, or so he thought.

Kagome put her hands on her hips, which means she isn't backing down.

"Im closer to being his lover than any of you!"

He almost smirked. This, this was the part he liked.

The women stopped laughing. "I beg your pardon?" A purple hair demon snapped,

Kagome folded her arms and stuck her nose up. "I dont kiss and tell," She turned and looked at him. "You could step in at any time, you know!"

"I do not kiss and tell either woman,"

She smirked as she heard the gasp from the woman behind her. Enough said, Kagome walked away.

"My Lord!" The demoness rushed him, he was stuck.

"Serves him right for letting them pick on me," She said to herself. Of course this meant none of them were his soon to be mate, as much fun as he was having messing with her he would not do anything to jeporside his mating.

Kagome, oddly went back to his mother side. She fanned her face before looking down at Kagome "Well?"

Kagome looked up. "Well, what?"

"I know what you are doing,"

"You do?"

"It is the same thing im doing,"

"You are?"

She shut her fan. "I often throw these parties in hopes of finding him a suitable mate,"

"Does he know that,"

"Of course, though he likes me to believe he doesn't, he does not indulge me, but it is more for me to sort the prospects out than it is from him to pick,"

Kagome raised an eyebrow. "Do you have one in mind,"

"It doesn't matter now,"

"Why not?"

"Because a little bird has told me that he has chosen one already,"

Kagome gasped, "But you dont know who, thats why the party!"

"Smart girl," She looked away, and Kagome followed suit.

"I was trying to find her too,"

"I doubt he will give it away until he wishes to,"

Kagome sighed,

"And why are you so invested?"

"So he will leave me alone,"

His mother raised an eyebrow but was pulled from the question she was fixing to ask when Sesshomaru walked up to them. "Miko,"

"I like it better when you dont talk," She snapped,

"I am quite aware of that," He smirked and gripped her chin with his hand, tipping her face up. Kagome was quick, pushing away, "Sesshomaru, knock it off!"

"Very well," He stared at her for a moment before walking away.

His mother didnt even bother to ask where he was going or why he was leaving.

He no longer needed to be there.

As she said, he would only give it away if he wanted to, and while Kagome had no idea he had just shown his mother.
