Okay, I'm officially stopping with the ideal time frame. Apologies for the long gap everyone, I've had a lot of things happen at work. Plus I went on a holiday with my best friend, and also with Christmas, New Years, friends birthdays and other public holidays, let's just say I've been busy.
Then additional writers block doesn't help either, and this chapter was very difficult for me to write. I have rewritten this chapter so many times and have read and re-read this chapter over and over, and I just struggled to get it right. I was hoping to get this chapter out a lot sooner, especially before the fourth film was released, but that's the way the fortune cookie crumbles.
Speaking of the fourth film, I've just seen it today, as it was not released in the UK until March 28th, unlike the US who were the 8th March. Won't lie, I was disappointed with it. I also did see some slight similarities to some elements in my story, which I will point out as a go.
One final message to anyone who may have not read the story in a while or who are a new reader, this fanfiction was created before the fourth film was released and even before a trailer was. Any similarities are a coincidence, unless I state otherwise and this fanfiction is my version/replacement of the fourth film, with the story taking place after the third film. The real fourth film does not exist in this alternative universe.
Now as usual, please enjoy and all reviews, messages and constructive criticism are welcome.
Chapter 4: A Tale of Two Siblings
Master Shifu was right. Peace was indeed a fragile thing. Po began to suspect something was very wrong when he and the Five were sent a message to the secret panda village by Zeng. They were immediately ordered to return to the Jade Palace by Shifu, due to a recent crisis that had occurred while they were all away. Po and the Five had left immediately after receiving the message, not knowing what they would find once they returned home, as Master Shifu had failed to elaborate in the letter what the crisis was about.
When Po and the Five finally arrived back in the Valley of Peace, they were all shocked to discover that the valley was now full of peafowl. They soon learnt from Shifu that it had all started with one or two peafowl seeking safe haven after being attacked, but soon after more and more large and small peafowl prides began to appear. Now the Valley of Peace was nearly completely overrun with all different ages of peacocks and peahens. All of whom had been attacked in their own homes and had escaped being captured by not only bandits, but by armed soldiers, going by the descriptions that the refugees had given.
Soon after this phenomenon, messages from other masters had started arriving in droves. Most the letters stated that they had also received large groups of peafowl, who were seeking sanctuary in the villages, valleys and cities where these great masters resided. Some of the letters were from masters who had written to state that their settlements had also received attacks, and that they had to step in to defend as many peafowl as they could manage.
From all these messages, Shifu had also recently received additional news from the Kung Fu Council in Gongmen City that the old goat Soothsayer, who had once helped to heal Po after a battle gone wrong with Lord Shen and who had also helped Po to find inner peace had gone missing, alongside most of her belongings. It had been suspected by the council that she had been taken, as it looked like her home had been broken into, but they were still uncertain who had taken her and for what purpose. Wondering if there was a link between the Soothsayer's disappearance and the recent attacks on the peafowl community, the council had decided to contact Shifu with their findings and asked for his help in returning the Soothsayer to them.
After taking time to analyse current events, two common threads were emerging. Firstly, the soldiers and bandits were wearing symbols on their amour or clothing, which indicated that they were from or currently living in Tianzhu City and also serving the royal family of Tianzhu City.
It was Shifu who recognised the symbol, shown to him in a drawing that a skilled peacock artist had done for Shifu, hoping to help bring his family's attackers to justice. As a loyal and faithful student of Master Oogway, he had once accompanied his master to the city, after the passing of the old rulers. Their mission at the time had been to show respect to the remaining royal family and to give their blessings to the new rulers. Their visit however, had been a rocky one. Oogway had sensed something dark about the new heir and his bride and had ordered Shifu to return with him to the Jade Palace shortly after they had arrived in Tianzhu City. His master had not explained himself fully to Shifu, he had only spoke in riddles about what he had sensed, to which Shifu had not fully understood. Shifu or Oogway had not stepped foot inside that city since. It was only now that Shifu was beginning to realise that Oogway had perhaps know more about the new rulers intentions, than he cared to divulge. Unfortunately for Shifu, he was unable to ask his master for an explanation, since Oogway had left to join the Spirit Realm years ago.
The second thread connecting everything together was that the main target of these attacks were children. Especially peahens and peacocks between the ages of fourteen and fifteen. One mother was in floods of tears as she retold the harrowing story of her son being asked his age after the entire family was attacked, and when he told them that he was fifteen, he had been taken by force. Another mother claimed her daughter was taken under the same circumstances and so did an uncle, whose twin niece and nephew were taken after they gave their answers at knifepoint. Then there was one peahen teenager, who had narrowly escaped capture by convincing her attackers that she was a lot younger than she was.
After witnessing the chaos and misery in front of him, the guilt Po had previously felt at leaving the Valley of Peace unprotected had tripled. Po was also realising why he had started to sense something was off. A darkness had indeed come and it was staring to affect many innocent citizens of China. No matter how many times Po tried to convince himself he was not to know for certain that something bad would actually happen, it still didn't make the feelings of guilt go away. If anything, Po should have headed home as soon as he started experiencing these feelings. If he had just told the Five about them, they would have likely agreed with him and they would have all come home sooner. To Po, this was all his fault. He could have done something sooner to help prevent all of this, if he had not left the Valley of Peace in the first place.
"Po, are you listening?"
Po was snapped out of his thoughts by Shifu's question that was directed at him. Master Shifu, the Furious Five and Po were currently standing in the village, near Mr Ping's noodle shop. After a brief stop off at the Jade Place to meet Shifu, they had all been busy in the village interviewing many of the peafowl refugees, when the guilty thoughts had caused Po's mind to wander. Maybe it was because of the look of guilt all over Po's face, which caused Shifu to not be angry at Po for losing his concentration, but to be concerned instead.
"I'm sorry, Master Shifu." Po said, apologetically. "You were right. We never should have left to go on vacation. If we had been here, we could have dealt with this sooner. I'm sorry for persuading you to let us leave the Valley of Peace in the first place."
"No Po, I am sorry." Shifu said, equally apologetic. "You had every right to go and see your father and I was wrong to make you all feel guilty for taking a break. No one could have predicted this."
"What if the Soothsayer did?" asked Crane. "Is that why she was taken?"
"It is a possibility." Shifu agreed with his student. "The Soothsayer is know to hold many secrets and to see many futures. Perhaps that is why she was indeed taken?"
"But why are the rulers of Tianzhu City doing this?" Tigress asked. "What reason would they have to attack and kidnap the peafowl? Especially when they are both peafowl themselves?"
Po knew what Tigress was referring to. Lord Shen had once tried to wipe out all the pandas in an attempt to try to stop a panda getting in his way. However, Lord Shen and his army had gone after another species of animal, this situation was the complete opposite, with peafowl going after peafowl. Not only that, the rulers were only targeting peafowl children, and it was even a specific age group. It was not a complete massacre like the one Lord Shen had orchestrated on the pandas decades ago.
Po was just glad that his biological father had chosen to stay behind in the secret panda village. With all these peafowl around, his dad did not need a painful reminder of how he had lost his wife, Po's mother.
"And what threat could they see in the Soothsayer's predictions to kidnap her?" Viper also asked, following Tigress's question.
Before anyone could try to answer Tigress or Viper, they all heard a familiar voice that distracted them from their current discussions.
"You can't park that cart here, you are blocking my shop! How am I supposed to get food to all these poor folk?"
Po turned to see his goose dad, Mr Ping standing in front of his shop, arguing with someone that was completely dressed top to bottom in old black armour that completely hid their face. As Po looked closely at the figure, he could have sworn that the amour looked familiar.
"Seems to me like you are you profiting on the poor fortunes of others." The stranger replied back, clearly not sorry he was still blocking the entrance to the noodle shop.
"Now wait just a minute. I may be interested in turning a profit, but I would never let poor folk in need starve."
"You are giving them free food?"
"Of course not, but I give them a great discount."
"I do not have time for this." The stranger said impatiently, pulling out his sword and thrusting it close to Mr Ping's face. "I must speak with the dragon warrior at once, it is urgent!"
At the mention of his title and after realising that things could quickly escalate, Po rushed over to where his dad was. Mr Ping spotted Po coming over and he soon forgot about his argument with the stranger. He flew straight over to where his son was, and safety away from the stranger and his sword.
"Po, you're back!" Mr Ping said excitingly, as he landed onto Po and gave him a big hug, as big as his wings could manage.
"Hi dad." Po said happily, hugging his dad back tightly.
Po held his dad for a moment, before putting his dad down and turning his full attention to the armoured stranger, who had just threatened his goose dad.
"Hey buddy, I don't know who you are, but no one threatens my dad."
As Po was speaking, the stranger placed his sword away and slowly removed his helmet to reveal that he was a mature collared crow, with a white V-shaped collar on his neck feathers, barely visible underneath his amour. He had one brown coloured eye, while the other was completely covered by a black eye patch.
As soon as the helmet was removed, Po recognised who it was immediately, despite only meeting once before and after not seeing that face for over a year.
"Qiang, we meet again."
The collared crow named Qiang did not seem happy to see Po, in fact you could say he resented being there.
"Dragon Warrior, I did hope that our paths would not cross again, but unfortunately fate has had other ideas."
During this exchange, Shifu and the Five had joined Mr Ping, and all of them began turning their heads back and forth between Po and the crow. It was clear that the two had a history, which confused the group even more as Po rarely kept secrets from them. Especially with Po usually being enthusiastic and excitable, with a habit of monologuing. The only one time he had kept something secret from them, was when he was internally dealing with the knowledge that Lord Shen had been present the last time he had seen his parents, before Po remembered his entire past with the Soothsayer's help.
"Po, how do you know this crow?" Asked Monkey, confused by the interaction between the two.
"Everyone this is Qiang, he is a bounty hunter." Po explained, introducing the crow to his dad, master and friends. "We met last year during our mission to capture the Mao Twins."
About a year ago, during the large crackdown on criminals and criminal gangs throughout China, it was not uncommon for Po and the Five to be asked on occasion to help round up criminals that always evaded capture. One of these missions had been to capture the Mao Twins, who were a pair of masterful, sibling Siamese cat burglars. Po had gotten separated from the Five during the mission and had later returned empty handed, same as them. It was later reported to Shifu that the twins had been captured and thrown into a high security jail. However, Po had know more than he had let on about how the twins had ended up in that prison.
"After we got separated, I met Qiang and we teamed up to take down the Mao Twins together." Po said, as he finished up explaining his past with Qiang.
"Wait, if you took down the Mao twins together, why didn't you bring them back to the Jade Palace?" Mantis asked Po curiously.
"Mantis makes a valid point, Po." Crane agreed.
"Yes, I would also like to know why you didn't fulfil your mission, Po?" Shifu asked sternly.
It was after all these recent questions, that Po started to look extremely embarrassed.
"Well… Qiang knocked me out after we defeated them and took the twins for himself to claim the bounty on their heads." Po said rapidly, looking even more embarrassed than he had just been.
If looks could kill, Qiang would have been dead. The crow however, remained indifferent and disinterested at the glares he was now receiving from the Five, Mr Ping and Shifu.
"I required the reward you would have declined, I simply did what I needed to do." Qiang stated to Po, showing no remorse for past actions. "Make no mistake, after our last encounter I would rather be anywhere, but standing in front of you again. I am surprised that with your stupidity and enthusiasm for dangerous situations, that you have not gotten yourself killed yet."
Tigress responded to the crow's disrespectful words by growling and baring her sharp teeth. Ever since the day Po had defeated Tai Lung and had proven himself to her and to the others, Tigress had not liked it when Po was being disrespected, and right now was no acceptation.
"If you would rather not see Po again, then why are you here?"
"I am only here to ensure the safety of my son." Qiang responded to Tigress's question, in a calm and controlled manner.
"Wait, you have a son?" Po asked Qiang, greatly surprised.
"Yes, and his life is in danger. I need to keep him safe, and if you have the capacity to remember, you did say you 'owe me one', for saving your life, correct?"
This fact was true. Qiang had stopped the eldest male twin from killing Po during their team up, which Po was grateful for. It was the main reason why Po never mentioned to Shifu and the Five about Qiang hitting him over the head and rendering him unconscious. Despite parting on violent terms, Po would never see Qiang or a member of his family harmed if Po could help it. As Po stood there, taking all the information in, he noticed that apart from Qiang, there was no other crow present. Especially a younger crow that looked liked Qiang.
"Wait, where is your son?" Po asked Qiang, still looking around for another crow like Qiang.
"He is under here."
Qiang approached the cart that was still blocking Mr Ping's shop and pulled off the covers that kept his and his son's belongings hidden. Once the covers had been removed, the group got closer to get a good look at Qiang's son.
"This is my son, Mùyáng."
To everyone's surprise, Qiang's son was not a collared crow, but instead a peacock. He was clearly a teenager, with sharp white feathers and closed eyes that hid their bright cerulean blue colour. The markings on the boy's tail feathers and crest were black and bronze in colour and looked like a small completely filled bronze circle within a larger black outlined one. These two circles made a pattern that looked like a sun symbol.
The boy was dressed in plain light blue robes with a white tie that held the robes in place. Next to him was an archers bow and a quiver of arrows close by, a white wing resting over them in case they were needed in a hurry.
The blanket that had been covering the boy had fallen off him during the bumpy journey. Qiang took the blanket in his wings and pulled it back over his son. His son deserved his well earned rest. He had helped Qiang to move the cart the majority of the way to get to the Valley of Peace, with very little sleep as they both traveled non stop during the day and night. His son only entered the cart to briefly rest when they had both started to travel into busier areas and Qiang wanted the peacock to remain hidden after recent circumstances, but a brief rest for the teenager had turned into a deep slumber.
After Qiang had covered up his son, he then took the cover for the cart and pulled it back over the top of it, to keep his son hidden from the rest of the valley's residents and refugees.
"Let him rest. We have traveled for days without sleep to get here. I knew he would be safe here."
"Wait a moment." Po said, still trying to get his head around everything that was happening. "Your son is peacock and you are a crow?"
"Po… one of your dads is a goose." Crane remained him.
"Yeah, what am I… chopped tofu?" Mr Ping asked, annoyed.
"Fair point, sorry dad." Po said, apologetically.
"Guys… why is everyone staring at us?"
It was Monkey who had noticed that some of the peafowl refugees had stopped what they were doing and were now staring right at them. Even as Qiang, Po, Mr Ping, Master Shifu and the Five were made aware of the gathered crowd, the ostentation of peafowl were still uncomfortably staring at them.
"What are they staring at?" asked Viper.
"Must be me. Being the dragon warrior and all."
That comment from Po led to the Furious Five and Shifu glaring uncomfortably at the panda, who soon got the message.
"Or they could be staring at you guys too, as you are all equally famous." Po said sheepishly, shrinking slightly under all those staring eyes.
"They are not staring at you Dragon Warrior, they are staring at this." Qiang stated, pointing at the old and worn, but still visible emblem embroidered on his armour.
Everyone soon gathered around the crow's amour to get a better look, accidentally annoying the crow in process. The symbol itself looked like swirling peafowl feathers, with nine peafowl eyes that made a full circle.
"That is the royal emblem belonging to the rulers of Tianzhu City." Shifu said, glancing an accusatory look at Qiang, who just stared back in response.
"Hold on, you work for the rulers of Tianzhu City!?" Po cried loudly in shock.
Qiang quickly darted forward and placed a black feathered wing over Po's mouth to silence the panda. This action caused the Furious Five and Shifu to get ready to attack Qiang, if the moment should arise to defend Po.
"Keep your voice down, Panda!" Qiang hissed. "I used to a long time ago, but make no mistake Panda, if I ever lay my eye on them again, I would not hesitate in ending them. If they ever found out that Mùyáng was with me, they would stop at nothing to get to him. Even kill him. I won't allow that to happen.
It was at this moment that the group of kung fu masters and Mr Ping knew that Qiang was the only one who knew what was going on, and that he was the key into figuring out what and why this was happening and how they could all stop it.
"Master Qiang, do you know what is going on?" Shifu asked the crow, in a serious and stern manner.
"Not here." Qiang stated, removing his wing from in front of Po's mouth. "Let us take this conversation somewhere more private."
The reason why Qiang wanted privacy was because the peafowl pride were still staring at them, now even more uncomfortably after overhearing Qiang's past with the rulers of Tianzhi City. The same rulers who had taken beloved family members away from them or who had tried to take them away from their families.
"Good idea, should we head back to the Jade Palace?" Po suggested.
The Jade Palace, despite being completely destroyed during Kai's attack on it two years ago, had nearly been restored to its formal glory. There was still work to be done, but it was still looking as magnificent and majestic and it originally used to be.
"I'm afraid that is where we have been housing nearly all of the refugees." Shifu explained. "If we go there, seeing the emblem on the amour may cause them to relive recent painful memories"
"Oh, good point." Po agreed. "Anyone have any ideas?"
"Ahem!" Mr Ping said, conspicuously to gain the groups attention. "Welcome to Dragon warrior's noodles and Tofu… if you can get inside, that is."
Taking the hint; Po, Tigress, Crane and Monkey helped to move the cart out of the way of the entrance to Mr Ping's shop and soon the entire entrance was clear and easy to enter again.
"Thanks dad." Po said gratefully as he happily made his way into his father's noodle shop.
Everyone followed Po's lead and started to enter the shop, except for Qiang. He did not want to leave his son alone and unguarded on the cart. Mr Ping immediately understood what was going through Qiang's mind and approached the crow cautiously. He did not want another sword pointed at his throat.
"Your son can sleep in Po's old room." Mr Ping said, in a friendly and understanding manner, as he pointed to his home above the noodle shop. "Just look for the room with lots of posters and dolls and you've got the right room."
"They are not dolls, they are action figures!" Po protested from inside the noodle shop.
Qiang did not speak, but nodded appreciatively at Mr Ping. He then removed the covers once again from the cart, and gently scooped up the peacock teenager in his wings. As Qiang was carrying his son off to Po's old room, everyone else had entered the quiet noodle shop and made themselves comfortable, rearranging the different tables and chairs to form a big one for them all to sit at. Once Qiang had finished, he placed himself on a seat at the head of the newly formed table, so he was facing everyone.
"I think it would be easier if I started from the beginning." Qiang stated after sitting down. "Before I became a bounty hunter, I used to be a army general in Tianzhu City, and I served under the royal family. About fifteen years ago, Lord Mencius started to get bad dreams and asked for a Soothsayer to see into his dreams and determine what they meant. A Soothsayer from Gongmen City soon arrived to decipher his dreams…
"Hey Crane, looks like you were right buddy." Po complimented Crane, whilst giving him a hard pat on his back, which unintentionally nearly sent Crane's head crashing into the table.
"If I may continue?" Qiang asked, annoyed at being interrupted.
"Please excuse Po's interruption, please continue." Master Shifu said, after giving Po both a sharp and stern look.
"I do not know what the Soothsayer told Lord Mencius, but soon after the Soothsayer visited, Lady Meng Fang had two eggs. Of these two eggs, Mùyáng is the first born, having hatched in the morning…"
"Hold up… Mùyáng is the son of the rulers of Tianzhu City?!" Po loudly interrupted again.
"Yes Dragon Warrior, as you pointed out before I am a crow and Mùyáng is a peacock." Qiang said, exasperated. "Now if I could continue again? Preferably without further interruptions from yourself."
"Sorry."
"As I was saying, Mùyáng hatched early in the morning, but his sister did not come into the this world until it was night. After both children hatched, I brought them to their parents, as requested. At first, I thought Lord Mencius and Lady Mèng Fang wanted to meet their new children, but as soon as they first looked at them, they ordered myself to immediately kill both children… in front of them".
Ripples of shock and disgust ran through Mr Ping's noodle shop. They all knew from witnessing current events that the rulers of Tianzhu city were cruel, but they could not have imagined them to be so heartless.
"I tried to argue against it. Tried to remind them that they were their children, but they simply replied they were preventing the prophecy from coming true. If they were willing to kill their own children moments after their births, it must be of some significance."
Although this story was very informative and useful to the group, something did not add up. If Mùyáng had a sister, as Qiang had just explained, where was she?
"Wait… if you have Mùyáng with you, what happened to the girl?" Tigress asked, full of suspicion. She did not fully trust the crow, especially after how he had just treated Po.
Qiang took a big pause before he continued. As the group looked at him, it looked as if Qiang was haunted by the thoughts going on through his head. It was clear on his face, that he was ashamed of what he had done in the past.
"Before I could act on my orders, a fox serving girl who had been hiding in the throne room and had seen and heard everything, grabbed the two hatchlings and was able to escape."
"Escape how?" Asked Tigress.
"The girl was not just a serving girl, she was also a thief and was raised by an old time criminal thief named Yaozhu." Qiang explained. "I knew she was one of his children, but I could never prove it, that is why she was able to a job at the royal palace. I think that Yaozhu planted her there to help him rob the royal palace, as I always suspected that underneath the city were old tunnels, created back when the city was first built in case of times of war. I could never find them to confirm my suspicions, but I always believed that Yaozhu knew about these tunnels, as he always evaded my grasp when I tried to arrest him and I suspect that he taught the girl about these secret tunnels. I strongly believed that one of these tunnels were connected to the royal palace and she used them to flee the palace and the city."
Qiang needed another pause before he continued with his tale, the next part of the story was always difficult for him to recollect.
"After interrogating those close to the girl, I learnt her name was Jia Li and that she was planning to take the children to a new home, where they would be safe. I was then able to locate and intercept her outside of the city. There was a struggle and she fell into nearby river with the two hatchings. I was able to rescue the boy… but the fate of the thief and the baby girl remains a mystery to me."
There was an awkward pause. Po was looking closely at Qiang face, the crow face was focused and stoic, but he could still see pain expressed in the only remaining eye that the crow had left.
"Qiang, what happened after you rescued Mùyáng?" Po asked gently.
"I still had my orders… but I couldn't bring myself to go through with what I had been asked to do. Instead I took the boy back to my home and consulted with my wife. We decided to raise him as our own son. I returned to the royal family and convinced them I had done the deed. My wife had purposely injured herself to ensure the shawl that had been wrapped around Mùyáng was covered in blood. It indeed helped convince the royal family, that I had followed my orders. My wife was always a clever woman."
Qiang took another pause. Thinking of his wife had distracted him, but this lasted only for a moment and he soon continued with the final parts of the story.
"Once they were convinced, I was offered a great reward, in exchange for my silence. I requested a honourable discharge from my position and enough money to leave the city. I lied that my wife's father was sick and that we wanted to leave the city to tend to him. They gave me my request and my wife and I left with our son. We have been moving with our cart ever since. We decided being on the move constantly would ensure no one would discover the truth of our deception. It had just been the three of us for a long time…. until I lost my wife to sickness. She died peacefully, and for that I am grateful for."
Po was surprised to see Qiang like this. The crow had been so harsh, grumpy and stoic the last time they had worked together, but now Po had been given the opportunity to see a different side to him. The side of a loving husband and a father who vowed to protect his son with all the power his had. It reminded Po of his both his dads and his mother, his mother who died to protect him.
"The royal family must be aware that the prophecy is about to come true." Qiang continued. "Now they hunt every young peahen and peacock in hopes of stopping this prophecy from being fulfilled. I suspect that they don't realise Mùyáng is still alive, otherwise they would be looking solely for a peacock that looks like Mùyáng and a peahen who looks like his sister. That is why I have brought Mùyáng here. I could not think of any other place to keep him hidden and safe."
Qiang then gave a big sigh, before he turned his full attention toward Po, looking the panda solely in the eye.
"I know we did not part ways on good terms, Dragon Warrior, but I need your help to keep my son safe, and I will do anything to ensure my son's safety. I will even beg for it, if you wish me to do so."
It was true that Qiang had not treated Po the best during their team up and he had also knocked Po unconscious, but even so, Po would never turn down someone who asked for help, and he certainly wouldn't make someone beg for it.
"Of course we will help you, Qiang. After all, you did help me with the Mao twins."
"Didn't he also knock you out afterwards?" Monkey asked, a wide smug grin on his face.
"Don't worry, Master Qiang." Shifu said reassuringly to the crow, before Po could come up with a comeback to Monkey's comment. "Your son will be safe here in the Valley of Peace. We will protect him, alongside the other peafowl who have sought refuge here.
For the first time, Po saw a faint smile creep on the crow's face, a smile of pure relief.
"Thank you, I appreciate…"
The sudden sound of screaming alerted the group to a commotion outside of the noodle shop. Everyone except Mr Ping, all ran outside the noodle shop, and noticed that everyone was running away from the combined entrance and exit of the Valley of Peace. The group arrived to witness that an entire army of what appeared to be bandits rather than armoured soldiers, which was made up of various animals, had just began to rapidly advance on the Valley of Peace. Soon the valley would be under attack, and both citizens and refugees alike would be a risk, if they were not stopped first.
"I think you spoke too soon, Master Shifu." Po stated as he, Shifu, Qiang and the rest of the Furious Five got into a battle stance, preparing themselves for battle.
It was on.
Just a couple of things to mention (this isn't really a spoiler as it is basically in the trailer) I know my character Jia Li is also a fox and a thief like the new main character Zhen, but I am going in a completely different direction. I will not mention other similarities yet, until I go into more depth in future chapters as they will be spoilers for my story and the movie, until more people see the new movie. Again, let me know what you guys think and thanks for reading.
