Authors Notes- Here I am back again with yet another chapter to When Honor Dies. As you can gather by now I don't own Transformers that belongs to Hasbro. Now that we got that out of the way here is Chapter Four. I hope you enjoy!
Chapter Four: Where Do I Go From Here?
Silence Permeated the room as Dreadwing finished telling Optimus all that had happened. How Megatron had betrayed him, and how he had tried to snuff out Starscream's spark, then...darkness. "But I must ask, Optimus." Dreadwing spoke again, looking to the Autobot leader once more. "Why did you save me? Why didn't you just leave me to die?"
Optimus was silent for a brief moment. "I...couldn't leave you to die, Dreadwing." Optimus said.
"Why? We are not allies. And as you might recall I have more than once attempted to extinguish your spark countless times." Dreadwing glared at him. "Do you think I will join your side simply because you showed me mercy by saving me?"
Optimus shook his head. "No, Dreadwing." He said.
"Then why?" Dreadwing asked. To him it made no sense, and if he was being honest if their roles were switched Dreadwing would...he hesitated, brow furrowed, no now that he thought about it Dreadwing knew that he couldn't... wouldn't be able to do it. He would rather give Optimus a fighting chance before he extinguished his spark. Optimus deserved that much. "Are you waiting for me to recover so you can snuff out my spark?" he asked.
Optimus shook his head once more.
Dreadwing was silent, his gaze fixed on the ceiling. "Now what?" Dreadwing asked. "What do I do now? Serving Lord Megatron was all I knew, and now I have nothing."
Optimus was silent. He had offered to let Dreadwing to join the Autobots once more. And back then Dreadwing had rejected him, so as much as Optimus wanted he knew that was Dreadwing's choice. And right now it seemed the former Decepticon was confused and conflicted. "I cannot make that choice for you, Dreadwing." Optimus told him, looking down at him, as Dreadwing looked away. An unreadable expression on his faceplate.
Silence fell over the two of them. Then, after another while Optimus got to his feet once more, and headed to the door. Glancing over his shoulder Optimus looked to where Dreadwing lay. "You still have a long ways to go before you are recovered enough to leave. Until that time comes, Dreadwing. You have time to think over what you would like to do. And Dreadwing," Optimus added, causing Dreadwing to look at him. "I do hope you join us."
"What will the others think?" Dreadwing asked.
Optimus thought for a moment, he knew that the rest of the Autobots weren't happy when they had found out that Dreadwing was here. Bulkhead was a perfect example of that. And Optimus could understand why. Dreadwing looked to him, waiting for an answer.
"Bulkhead wants revenge, and I'm certain that the rest of your team aren't too pleased."
Optimus had to agree with that. But he was also confident that some of them would give Dreadwing a chance if Dreadwing chose to stay. "No matter what they think Dreadwing, I hope you do stay. And perhaps you will see that there is more to this life than following Megatron."
Dreadwing scoffed, but said nothing. Optimus watched him for a little while longer before leaving him alone, giving the former Decepticon time to himself. Dreadwing watched as the doors slid closed one last time, leaving him in darkness. Dreadwing chewed on his bottom lip. What should he do? Could he actually live on as a Autobot? He offlined his optics, perhaps if he did join he would be able to get revenge on Starscream and on Megatron. And maybe, just maybe he would find a purpose outside of the Decepticons?
As Dreadwing thought about that exhaustion gripped him, and soon he drifted off into a deep recharge.
Authors Notes- And thus concludes Chapter Four. Sorry, it seemed rather boring and dialog heavy. It'll get interesting as the story goes on. And this is The Exhausted Writer signing off, have a good day.
