"While the enchanted kingdoms have numerous places that are known by the youngest child to the eldest of people across the land. Eternia's people have places that aren't that welcoming and are best avoided at all costs due to the dangers that lie within that they have a reason to stay away from. One of them was Castle Grayskull whose tale is said to home almost everything that the people of Eternia could be afraid of. Few have dared to enter the castle without knowing what was in store for them, none of them had returned to tell the tale. Yet there are many stories about the ancient castle that many people try to figure out when they learn about its existence. Yet are afraid to venture into the structure, that is unless they do not know the history or have never seen it before."
Afternoon-Castle Grayskull
It was a sight to behold for Raven Queen who had only heard tales of Castle Grayskull from her mother when she opened a portal to Eternia. Despite not having the opportunity to use her armies and unlimited magic to find the lost castle, Raven was told about what could lie within it as well as the powers of whoever was able to enter it. More importantly out of everyone in either Eternia or the Enchanted Kingdom, Adam was the one to discover Grayskull, and not even realize what the old fortress was. Adam himself took a moment to look at the castle as well as the sword where he continued to feel it vibrate in his hand.
"You mean to tell me that you didn't even think that this was the same castle that everyone was trying to find for years?"
Raven asked Adam who shook his head at her due to him not even taking the time to recognize the castle. Especially the giant skull in front of the place which was a sign that it was the same castle that people had searched for and vanished off the face of Eternia.
"Looks like I found it. And it's now decided to find a mess with the sword I found inside of it and drag me here. Guess it has a problem with people taking its belongings."
He stated as Adam decided to throw the sword back at the doors of Grayskull since it might want it returned. While he thought the problem was handled and was going to head back to Ever After High, Raven noticed the sword acting up and wanted to warn Adam. The sword quickly flew off from the ground and latched itself onto Adam's hand as he was caught off guard by it coming at him.
"Looks like Grayskull wants you instead of its sword. Because it looks like we're being summoned."
She pointed out to him as Raven looked over the edge of its towers to see a falcon staring downwards at them. It was unlike any falcon due to its color palette of blue and orange around its feathers. The falcon took off screeching the air before heading in Grayskull as the doors opened up for it as well As Raven and Adam who saw the entrance for them available.
"So. Do you want to go in?"
Adam asked her if she'd want to venture with him into Grayskull as Raven didn't know if it would be safe. She felt compelled to do so as Raven headed into the castle first which caught Adam by surprise since she said nothing to him about coming in willingly, follow after her. The door behind them soon closed sealing the two within Grayskull and from the outside world as they were in complete darkness.
"I don't suppose that sword can help with guiding us through the castle now, would it?"
Raven questioned if Adam could make the sword light up for them to see where they would be walking. He decided to try and shake the sword several times to see if it light up or do another type of magical act that would help them out, instead the two were aided by the same falcon that was pitched above the rafters and heard it screech above them. Its cry made the hallways light up with torches against the walls and narrowed the passage downwards where they saw a red carpet guiding them to where they needed to begin their walking.
"For a place that's supposedly terrifying and makes people disappear. It feels like we're being welcomed. Wonder if Grayskull will have a dinner set out for us."
Adam joked as he accidentally stumbled upon a statue that looked like one of the ancient beasts that became extinct years ago when Eternia was a savage land. The two continued their walk to where they noticed a light appearing down the hallway, which was coming from behind a door that was covered in webs and thorns. Raven took a moment to look at the door and her hand began to shake as if she was hesitating to open the door.
"It reminds me of my mom's magic. She used it back in the enchanted kingdom to turn trees into creatures and traps for anyone who tried to stop her.
She spoke out towards the door that represented one of her childhood memories as Raven walked over deciding to open the door. Just as she touched the eerie handle, her eyes began to light up in purple as a powerful sensation of magic coursing through her body. Adam watched in fear of how it might have been a trap and rushed over to help get her hand off the handle. Feeling the thorns press into his skin and feeling himself getting cut, Adam continued to help Raven remove herself from the handle as well both the teens were able to break free and fall to the ground. Shaking off whatever sensation that flowed through her body, Raven took a moment to look over at Adam who saw his hand bleeding.
"I have some bandages on me if there were accidents around me. Though growing up around an evil mom, there was a lot."
Raven stated to Adam as she was about to wrap up his injured hand, but she soon saw the cuts on his hand gone along the door making a creaking sound as they saw it open before them. Standing back up and looking at what was on the other side, they stared at a throne room where the falcon was pitched along giving them a menacing stare at them on how they'd entered the room.
"I don't want to be the one to say it. But is it weird feeling threatened by a falcon?"
Adam asked Raven as he didn't know how to react to the possible hostile bird staring at him. Raven on the other hand could feel the same source of magic when she touched the handle, it was ancient and powerful that seemed to rival her mothers. Taking a better look at the bird, she knew better and to not take it lightly.
"That's not a falcon. It's something else."
She corrected Adam as they saw the falcon raise its wings in the air and it began to glow brightly which forced the two to cover their eyes. Hearing it screeching again and the same humming sound that Adam's sword made, the light went away and they were able to see again as they saw a sudden change from the falcon. Instead of a bird by the throne, the two were looking at a woman with falcon clothing that had armor around the sides and her holding a white staff in her hand. The stare they were given when she was a falcon changed to that of a welcoming look as the mysterious figure seemed to be grateful for them being here.
"Adam of Eternos, Raven Queen of the Enchanted Kingdom. Welcome to Castle Grayskull, I am the sorceress of this fortress as well as its keeper of secrets."
Gently introduced herself to the two as it was surprising to see such magic presented in front of them. Raven herself was nervous due to how warm it felt to stand in front of the sorceress, Adam on the other hand didn't know how to react toward her since she might want the sword back.
"Hi. It's good that this place has someone looking after, it since the last thing I want to do is steal something from someone that can turn into a falcon. Anyway, here's your sword back."
He explained about not a smart move to take an object that belonged to a mystical being that could do anything in the blink of an eye. Placing the sword right by the sorceress's feet and moving back to Raven's side, the blade began to vibrate again and fly back into Adam's hand. Confused by it coming back to him, he did it again only for the sword to return to him again which caused Adam to be annoyed as he didn't want to keep it. Raven tried to not laugh since it seemed like it was intended for Adam to be the bearer of the sword, seeing how this wouldn't stop. The sorceress taps her staff to the ground causing the prince to stop and look towards her with full attention.
"You're mistaken, Prince Adam. You didn't steal the sword, Grayskull gave it to you. Much like testing you on helping Raven remove her hand from the door handle, despite her destiny of becoming an evil queen in her homeland."
The sorceress explained to the boy how the blade was meant for him and that his instincts were to help Raven out while not thinking about what she'd eventually become later on in life. The last part made Raven quiet since it was something she didn't want to think about this early but was still questioning what she had to do with Adam in having the sword in the first place.
"Allow me to show you the reason for this gift. As well as the purpose of your true destiny."
She continued to speak as the woman aimed her staff in the air which caused a bright light to come out which showed what looked like a flashback. They saw what seemed to be the plains of Eternia where at the center was a crack that appeared out of nowhere as it began to open widely eventually allowing another world to enter into their own, coming out was the Evil Queen who was the first to walk upon the soil of Eternia.
"Just as you were told by the instructors of Ever After High, the Evil Queen and her army made their way into Eternia as well determined to take over our world in the hopes of strengthening her forces to face her home's champions. Your father at the time was a general who served under the ancients and looked after their safety."
The origin of their worlds came together along with Adam and Raven's parents battling each other which resulted in an unbalanced of magic from both kingdoms. She continued to show them images of numerous heroes untied together to face the evil that the Evil Queen had assembled upon Eternia and from the Enchanted Kingdom. They soon see what looked like the council of mystical beings who helped with the battle in stopping the tyrannical woman who seemed to have the upper hand.
"While they managed to push back the queen and punish her for the attempt of conquering both lands. The elders realized that her forces would try to obtain their power in the hopes of becoming more powerful than her, this left them to channel their magic and knowledge of the universe into an orb that has been hidden within these halls. I have been entrusted with keeping its fabulous secrets from trespassers that have sought its power."
Finishing her story and pointing at several statues that Raven was able to recognize as they were her mother's old generals who planned on overthrowing her whenever they had the chance. Adam himself recognized several of the statues as they came from old stories from Randor's war stories when he wasn't a king. Before they had the chance to ask her a question, the sorceress stood in front of Adam and Raven which scared the two due to how quiet she was in not interrupting them from looking at the fallen enemies.
"They foretold of a champion that would emerge at a time of great urgency who would venture into a journey without understanding what lies ahead. Finding the sword was the first part, the second will be understanding the purpose of why it needs you."
Responding to Adam the prince didn't believe it and wanted to deny this stranger's assumption of being her champion. Looking over to Raven as she gestured to come over to speak to him quietly, Adam walked over to see what she had to say about this situation.
"While I'm going to ignore that comment on eventually becoming the new evil queen. The one thing I learned from my mother is that magic is impossible to understand and that it looks for people who have great potential. Either for better, or worse."
She told him since how Raven was able to sense the magic from the door, the sorceress might have been telling the truth. While Adam knew that Raven didn't look the type to lie about anything to get her way, it still felt off for out of the entirety of Eternia, he'd be one of the few that the Sorceress would pick to learn about the secrets of Grayskull. Turning over to possibly accept what the mysterious woman had to say, the sorceress smiled and pointed towards the sword as it began to glow.
"Your path lies only when you understand the words."
Instructing Adam what he had to do the boy looked at the sword trying to figure out what she meant. Continuing to find the words on the object, Raven decided to help him as the two took a moment to take a better look at the sword. Just as Adam calmed his thoughts and looked at the sword, an inscription started to appear in front of them which the prince was able to read.
"By the power of Grayskull, I have the power?"
He spoke the words as they waited to see if anything would happen next. The sorceress walked to Raven's side and slightly pulled her to the side as the two heard a rumbling above their heads as if a storm was approaching. Adam thought it was a trap and was ready to throw the sword away, he was quickly struck down with a stream of enchanted lighting. Instead of hurting him, the boy felt a surge of energy flowing through his body as Adam's fear went away and the expression on his face changed to embrace the power.
"I, have. The power!"
Shouting in the air where his voice echoed throughout the walls of Grayskull as his body glowed before Raven and the Sorceress. Hoisting his sword in the air, his body began to change as his clothes changed into a barbarian attire with a set of muscles to match. He was given a metal battle harness and two golden armored wristbands as the transformation was complete. Raven stared at the changed prince as he appeared like an entirely new person and seemed slightly taller than before.
"Adam? Are you still in there?"
Raven questioned the new Adam as the blonde-haired barbarian took a moment to look at himself since it didn't feel that strange to him. Taking a moment to flex his muscles to see how strong he looked, Adam couldn't help but chuckle since he was still the same prince from the first day at Ever After High.
"While he is still Adam on the inside. His outside exterior is called by another name, He Man. Champion of Grayskull and defender of Eternia."
The sorceress told her his new name and title as it surprised Adam by what she meant since it meant instead of becoming king of Eternos like his parents wanted, he'd be in charge of looking over all of Eternia. Continuing to check himself out, Adam suddenly felt the power going away quickly as he changed back to his regular form as it took a lot out of him in becoming He Man. Raven was able to catch him since it looked like he was about to collapse on the ground.
"This responsibility however comes at a price. You must never tell anyone about your new self, if anyone learned about the power you have. They will attempt to steal the sword and obtained its power for themselves and endanger the ones you care about."
She warned him on despite Raven knowing his secret, no one else can know about becoming the champion of Grayskull and bearer of its power. Adam sadly nodded to her understanding it be a danger to anyone if they learned his secret. With him agreeing to her the condition, the sorceress blows a gentle gust of air towards his face which causes him to pass out on the ground.
"While he takes a small nap. There is something I must tell you and you alone."
Turning her attention to Raven as it seemed her turn to learn something vital about her destiny since it was impossible for someone of Eternia to know about the rules of the Enchanted Kingdom. Tapping the bottom of her staff, she showed Raven the storybook of legends as the purple haired girl thought she was going to be reminded again on becoming the new evil queen.
"It is said that your world follows the book to help guide its future ahead and has never been question. You are the only one to question its purpose. While I cannot give you an answer in your confliction, what I ask you is if you found a solution. Would you take it?"
Questioning Raven's resolve of if she'd find a way to avoid in becoming the new evil queen, would she take it? Even at the cost of disrupting the tradition in fairy tale characters accepting their destinies back in the kingdom? It was much for Raven to think about and her own journey in finding an answer, the only thing she could do now was hope to find one before Legacy Day would happen in a matter of days.
Night Time-Ever After High
It had been several hours after their trip to Castle Grayskull and being talked to by its guardian. Adam and Raven were conflicted on what she told them individual on being given a new destiny and questioning if there was a way to change despite not knowing the consequences behind it. Luckily, they managed to make it back to the school before the headmaster noticed since he was strict on everyone being asleep at this hour of time. Continuing their walks to their separate dorms, the two took a moment to speak before heading off to bed.
"How your taking it with what that sword being now a part of you?"
Raven asked that it seemed they had another thing they could relate to on having an important role that was vital for his home. The prince took a moment to look at his sword seeing that despite being given this responsibility, he didn't know how to react towards it but only smiled at it.
"Kind of excited actually."
Responded back with an unexpected manner which took Raven off guard that while he might eventually have to fight with the sword and becoming his muscular alter ego. Adam didn't seem afraid but encouraged in learning what he could do with this knowledge and becoming He Man when the time was appropriate.
"While I was a bit nervous on becoming king of Eternos since I'll be in charge of looking after its people and doing royalty business. This seems enjoyable, hope it doesn't get challenging down the road."
Adam continued on how he was excited about accepting this destiny since he had more of purpose than ever before. Taking a moment to see if he was serious about this responsibility, Raven began to laugh at him since it seemed there was more to Adam than just being an ordinary prince.
"Just don't let those muscles of yours distract you. Otherwise I could take the title, could be interesting to see what I'd change into."
She joked with him as Adam nodded at the remark since it be impossible to imagine if the sorceress gave her the sword. With that being handled, the two said their goodbyes and headed off to bed since there was much to think about from meeting the sorceress. Just as Adam was making his way to his room, he heard muttering coming from behind the door he took a peek inside to see his cousin reading several books that didn't look like they belonged from Ever After High.
"Keldor?"
He called out to his cousin as the sudden interruption caused Keldor to ruin his reading and drop his books to the floor. Coming inside to help him out, the angered cousin kept his books to himself while Adam was able to see one of them that he read.
"Codex of the Shadows? I don't think Professor Wolf or even Baba Yaga has these books here, there from the wastelands. Did you go there?"
Adam read the book as it was snatched out of his hands by Keldor since the book was forbidden text as well dating back years ago. The boy kept quiet as he placed them underneath his bed to keep away from his cousin as it was none of his business. Taking a moment to adjust himself and not look upset with Adam snooping into his readings, he decided to respond to his cousin with an explanation behind the unusual text.
"It's one of the many things my parents kept in case their leader would turn on them. There's no magic in it, only history on how certain evils have managed to survive whenever they were beaten by the forces of good. It might also help me learn about what my destiny is."
Keldor explained to him how his story could result in him becoming another hero of Eternos who could outthink their enemies if they ever threaten their home. With that being said and not continuing to share any more information with him, Keldor headed to bed and prepare for tomorrow morning. Thinking that he might have made his cousin upset, Adam decided to sleep as well due to his journey with Raven to Grayskull. Putting his sword to the side and heading to sleep, he didn't see showing its reflection off Keldor who showed an unusual aura around him that there was more to the cousin than Adam or anyone else at the school realized. Whether it came from his skeletal hand or his research in forbidden books, it would leave to Adam's duty to see if he could end up as a potential threat of Eternia or the Enchanted Kingdom.
