A week later Bucky was cleared and back in New York.
Steve, Natasha and everyone else from the Civil War was cleared and home at the Compound along with Peter.
Bucky was given his own room at the Compound to make it easier.
He had been thinking about Peter and was with the others while Peter was in his room.
"We need to do something for the kid. His aunt is gone, his parents are dead and we don't know where Stark is." Bucky said and they looked at him.
"Well what are we gonna do?" Steve asked.
"I don't know. That's why I asked you!"
"He needs someone with him." Natasha said. "I still can't believe Tony brought a kid."
"I can't believe he kicked me and Wilson's ass." he said and Steve snickered. "He needs training. He needs to learn how to control his strength, fight without those webs and all that shit." he said and looked at Natasha. "And we know what we can do together if we train him, Natalia." he said and she looked at him.
"Natalia?" Steve said while the others looked at Bucky and Natasha confused.
"That's not my name anymore, James." Natasha said.

"OK Buck, Nat, what the hell's going on?" Steve asked and Bucky and Natasha looked at each other and nodded.
"I trained her in the Red Room years ago and we had a relationship going on. When they found out they brainwashed me and put me back in Cyro." Bucky said and looked at them. "I'm one of the reasons she's such a good agent and Avenger." he said and they looked at Natasha who nodded.
"It's true." Natasha said.
"Now that we're done with that, what are we doing with Peter?"
"Well considering that you have so much practice with kids and are the one that found him, I think you should take him in." Steve said and Bucky looked at him. "Pepper is gone. We don't have a clue where Tony is or if he's still here and all that so he needs you. You were a big brother and took care of me when my ma couldn't so you know what to do." he said and Bucky nodded.
"Wait, how do you know how to take care of kids?" Bruce asked.
"I had a little sister and Steve to look after. If Steve was sick and his ma had to work, I'd be there to take care of him. If my sister was sick, I'd stay home and look after her. I missed a lot of school but I had to take care of her. I'll go talk to Peter." Bucky said and left.
Then Bruce looked at Natasha.
"Do you love him?" he asked and she looked at him in shock.
"Excuse me?" Natasha said.
"Do you love him?"
"I, I,"
"It's OK Nat. If you do I'm not mad. You want a family and if Barnes takes Peter in and you get together, this will be your chance to be a parent. Even though it's a sixteen year old." he said and she sat there quietly.
When Bucky got to Peter's room he knocked on the door.
"Come in." Peter said and Bucky walked in.
"Hey kid, how you doing?" Bucky asked gently and Peter shrugged. "We need to talk."
"About what to do with me being sixteen?"
"Yeah."
"Who is it? Or are you calling Child Services?"
"We thought since I found you and have practice taking care of kids from Steve and my sister that I'd take you in. That OK? I can train you and you can learn how to control your strength." Bucky said and Peter nodded.
"OK."
"I'm sure Steve and Natasha will help to." Bucky said and Peter nodded. "Why don't you come get some food? You got the same metabolism as me and Steve and haven't eaten much." he said and they went to the kitchen.
While Bucky made Peter some lunch Steve couldn't help but smile seeing the old Bucky back while the others were surprised at him.
"He really does have it in him." Rhodey said watching.
"I told you. He looked after me whenever I was sick, bullied and more." Steve said smiling.
Natasha was watching him thinking about the time they had together in the Red Room.
"There you go kid. Eat up and then we can go to the gym and you can show me what you can do." Bucky said and Peter nodded.
Then Natasha tapped Bucky's shoulder and he looked at her.
"We need to talk." Natasha said and he nodded.
"OK." he said and they went to a different room.
When they got there they shut the door and looked at each other.
"What is i-" he started but was stopped by lips and froze for a second then closed his eyes and kissed her back.
They held each other close and stopped for oxygen panting and looking at each other.
"I guess you wanna give this another shot?" he said panting and she nodded. "OK." he said, held her close and kissed again.
Then they stopped and looked at each other.
"I'll help you train Peter." Natasha said and he nodded. "I'm sure Steve will to. You're right. He's strong, but he needs to learn how to defend himself without relying on his webs." she said and he nodded.
"We should go back before Steve wonders where we are." he said and she nodded.
They took hands and went back to the kitchen.
When they got there the others looked at them and Steve smirked.
"I take it you're back together?" Steve said and they nodded.
"You done?" Bucky asked and Peter nodded. "Let's go then. Me and Natalia are going to get you to learn how to fight without your webs." he said and Peter nodded and they headed to the gym.
For the next few weeks Bucky had taken in Peter and would train him with Natasha while trying to find Tony.
With Pepper's help Peter had taken a test to graduate high school so he didn't have to deal with going to school without Ned and MJ.
When Steve and Bucky found out who the principal was they were surprised.
He was going to start MIT in September on the internet.
Steve was in a bathroom holding a blade, shaving off his beard.
He sighed and looked into a side mirror when it started shaking, slowly at first, and then severely.
Steve, Bucky, Natasha, Bruce, and Rhodey walked out looking at the Benatar carried by Carol as she landed the spacecraft. The landing gears deploy as they touch down. The entry hatch opened, and Tony and Nebula walked out, Tony being supported by Nebula. Steve ran to Tony to help him stand up. Tony gripped Steve's arm as he joined him.
"Couldn't stop him." Tony said
"Neither could I." Steve said.
"I think I lost the kid."
"Tony, we lost."
"Is, uh...?" Tony said struggling to ask about Pepper.
"Oh, my God! Oh, my God!" Pepper said and they embrace.
"It's okay."
Rocket sat down with Nebula and took her hand, both silently mourning their losses.
Later they were sitting in a living room area. Tony was sitting at a table, getting blood for speeding up the healing. A holographic casualty report listed the names and faces of those lost to the Decimation.
"It's been 23 days since Thanos came to Earth." Rhodey said.
"World governments are in pieces. The parts that are still working are trying to take a census. And it looks like he did... he did exactly what he said he was gonna do. Thanos wiped out fifty percent, of all living creatures." Natasha said.
"Where is he now? Where?" Tony asked.
"We don't know. He just opened a portal and walked through." Steve said while Thor sat on a bench, seemingly deep in thought.
"What's wrong with him?"
"Oh, he's pissed. He thinks he failed. Which of course he did, but you know there's a lot of that's going around, ain't there?" Rocket said.
"Honestly, until this exact second, I literally thought you were a Build-A-Bear."
"Maybe I am."
"We've been hunting Thanos for three weeks now. Deep Space scans, and satellites, and we got nothing. Tony, you fought him." Steve said.
"Who told you that?" Tony asked surprised. "I didn't fight him. No, he wiped my face with a planet while the Bleecker Street Magician gave away the store. That's what happened. There was no fight."
"Okay."
"He's unbeatable."
"Did he give you any clues, any coordinates, anything?"
"Pfft! I saw this coming a few years back. I had a vision. I didn't wanna believe it. Thought I was dreaming."
"Tony, I'm gonna need you to focus." Steve said and Tony started seething.
"And I needed you. As in past tense. That trumps what you need. It's too late buddy. Sorry. You know what I need?" Tony said and stood up pushing things off the table with a clatter getting everyone to wince at the noise. "I need to shave. And I believe I remember telling all youse -" how said and went for Steve but Rhodey quickly came in front of him, trying to stop him.
"Tony, Tony, Tony!" Rhodey said.
"Alive and otherwise what we needed was a suit of armor around the world! Remember that? Whether it impacted our precious freedoms or not- that's what we needed!"
"Well, that didn't work out, did it?" Steve said.
"I said, "we'd lose". You said, "We'll do that together too." And guess what, Cap? We lost. And you weren't there. But that's what we do, right? Our best work after the fact? We're the Avengers, we're the Avengers. Not the Prevengers."
"Okay." Rhodey said.
"Right?"
"You made your point. Just sit down."
"Okay..."
"Okay?"
"Nah, nah. Here's my point. You know what?"
"Tony, you're sick."
"She's great, by the way." Tony said referring to Carol.
"Sit down. Sit."
"We need you. You're new blood. Bunch of tired old mules!" Tony said and walked right up to Bucky's face, his voice hushing down to a venomous whisper. "I got nothing for you, Cap! I got no coordinates, no clues, no strategies, no options. Zero. Zip. Nada. No trust. Liar."
Steve looked affected by Tony's words and the old friends just gaze at each other. After a moment, Tony ripped his Arc Reactor from his chest and shoved it into Steve's hand.
"Here, take this. You find him, and you put that on. You hide." Tony said and fell to the ground with Steve by his side and everyone starting to gather.
"Tony!" Steve said.
"I'm fine. I..." Tony said and fell into a heap, unconscious.
Later Tony was on a bed, with Pepper and Peter at his side.
"Bruce gave him a sedative. He's gonna probably be out for the rest of the day." Rhodey said.
"You guys take care of him. And I'll bring him a Xorrian Elixir when I come back." Captain Marvel said and walked away.
"Where are you going?" Natasha asked.
"To kill Thanos." Captain Marvel said and Steve and Natasha shared a look before walking after her.
"Hey, you know, we usually work as a team here, and between you and I, morale's a little fragile."
"We realize up there is more your territory, but this is our fight too." Steve said.
"You even know where he is?" Rhodey asked.
"I know people who might." Captain Marvel said.
"Don't bother. I can tell you where Thanos is. Thanos spent a long time trying to perfect me. And when he worked, he talked about his great plan. Even disassembled, I wanted to please him. I'd ask "where would we go once his plan was complete?". His answer was always the same: "To the Garden."" Nebula said standing behind Captain Marvel.
"That's cute, Thanos has a retirement plan." Rhodey said.
"So where is he?" Steve asked.
"When Thanos snapped his fingers, Earth became ground zero for a power surge of ridiculously cosmic proportions. No one's ever seen anything like it... Until two days ago." Rocket said and a hologram of a planet popped up, with a shockwave visibly traversing the surface. "On this planet."
"Thanos is there." Nebula said.
"He used the stones again." Natasha said.
"Hey, hey, hey. We'd be going in short-handed, you know." Bruce said.
"Look, he's still got the stones, so..." Rhodey said.
"So let's get him... Use them to bring everyone back." Captain Marvel said.
"Just like that?"
"Yeah, just like that." Steve said and he and Captain Marvel shared a knowing look.
"Oh God. I don't know whether I should call you a punk or an idiot now!" Bucky said and Natasha took his hand and squeezed it.
"Even if there's a small chance that we can undo this... I mean we owe it to everyone who's not in this room to try." Natasha said.
"If we do this, how do we know it's gonna end any differently than it did before?" Bruce asked.
"Because before, you didn't have me." Captain Marvel said.
"Hey, new girl, everyone here is about that superhero life. And if you don't mind my asking, where the hell have you been all this time?" Rhodey asked.
"There are a lot of other planets in the universe. And unfortunately, they didn't have you guys."
Thor, who had been eating a snack behind all this time, stood up and walked over to Captain Marvel. She looked behind at him and he held his hand up, and caught Stormbreaker as it flew over to him, missing her by inches. But she didn't even flinch, instead smiling at him.
"I like this one." Thor said and smiled.
"Let's go get this son of a bitch." Steve said.
Bucky looked at Peter and went to tell him he was going with Steve.
Later everyone but Tony was aboard the Benatar.
"Okay, who here hasn't been to space?" Rocket asked and Black Widow, Captain America, Winter Soldier and War Machine raised their hands.
"Why?" War Machine asked.
"You better not throw up on my ship."
"Approaching jump in 3... 2... 1!" Nebula said and the ship jumped forward into a wormhole.
Captain America was holding onto his seat for dear life as his eyes widen slightly at the exhilaration of this new experience. Then the ship slowed down, and hovered in orbit of the planet. Captain Marvel hovered in front of the Benatar.
"I'll head down for recon." Captain Marvel said.
The passengers inside the Benatar were preparing for the impending confrontation.
"This is gonna work, Steve." Black Widow said.
"I know it will." Captain America said holding a compass with an image of Peggy Carter. "Cause I don't know what I'm going to do if it doesn't." he said as Captain Marvel approached the Benatar.
"No satellites, no ships, no armies, no ground defenses of any kind. It's just him." Captain Marvel said.
"And that's enough." Nebula said.
Meanwhile a scenic lush tropical fauna surrounded a shed on a farm. Thanos was walking among his crops, harvesting fruit, and putting them in a sack. Then he walked over to the shed, with a dragging quality to his legs, like it pains him to walk, presumably his living quarters, and tried to sit down. His whole left side was burnt black with blisters.
Suddenly, Captain Marvel flew through the roof, knocking him down, and grabbing his neck. Bruce in the Hulkbuster armor burst from the ground, and grabbed his Infinity Gauntlet arm. Thor flew in and sliced off the Infinity Gauntlet. War Machine flew down with Rocket and aimed guns on his head.
Then Captain America walked in his Winter Soldier Outfit, with Black Widow and Winter Soldier right behind him, staring murderously at Thanos. Then Rocket went over to the sliced off Infinity Gauntlet, and kicked it over, as everyone realized there were no stones in it.
"Oh no." Rocket said.
"Where are they?" Captain America asked.
"Answer the question!" Captain Marvel said.
"The universe required correction. After that, the stones served no purpose, beyond temptation." Thanos said.
"You murdered trillions!" Bruce said and pushed him to the ground wearing Hulk Buster armor.
"You should be grateful." Thanos said punched by Hulk Buster.
"Where are the Stones?" Black Widow asked.
"Gone. Reduced to atoms."
"You used them two days ago!" Bruce said.
"I used the stones to destroy the stones. It nearly killed me. But the work is done. It always will be." Thanos said and sat himself a little straighter. I am... inevitable.
"We have to tear this place apart, he-he-he has to be lying." War Machine said.
"My father is many things. A liar is not one of them." Nebula said.
"Ah, thank you, daughter." Thanos said and she looked down, a little uncomfortable. Perhaps I treated you too harshly.
Thor's face was filled with rage as he raised to summon Stormbreaker, and before anyone could stop him, sliced Thanos' head off. Thanos' limp body fell to the floor. Nebula wiped off some of the blood spatter.
"What... What did you do?" Rocket asked and Thor looked broken, realizing what he'd done.
"I went for the head." Thor said and slowly walked out of the shed, no real purpose in his steps.
