Sango and Miroku came to the house. Kagome invited them in. "This house is really nice, Inuyasha." said Miroku. Kagome turned and looked at him. "Inuyasha didn't have you here yet?" she asked.
Miroku shook his head. "We kinda just gave him his space." said Miroku. Kagome nodded. They all sat around the fire. "It's like three years ago." said Miroku. "Sometimes I miss it." he said. They all nodded.
"Is there something you wanted to talk to us about?" asked Sango. Kagome and Inuyasha looked at each other and back at them. "Kagome and I were attacked by a demon. We tried to fight it off, but it's very fast."
"Kagome struggled with her bow and arrow. She hadn't used it in three years. We noticed that her powers are still sealed. Her arrows aren't sacred anymore. They are just normal arrows." said Inuyasha.
Sango and Miroku looked at Kagome. "My powers are somehow still sealed. And I don't understand why. I don't know if it was because I destroyed the jewel before slaying Magetsuhi or what. But no matter how hard I try, my sacred powers don't appear."
Miroku thought about it. "Maybe when the well sent you back to your time, it sealed your powers since it wasn't needed in your time. Maybe the Shikon Jewel sealed your powers permanently when you made the wish on it. It feared your powers above all else."
"So perhaps when you wished that it was destroyed, it sealed your powers along with it. Almost like giving you a clean slate." Kagome looked down. "So then there's no way to get my powers back. My powers are gone forever."
"I'm just Kagome." she looked at her friends and back to the floor. She got up and walked out of the house. Inuyasha went after her. Miroku stopped him. "Give her some space. I think she needs some air." Inuyasha sighed and nodded.
Kagome walked through the woods and she looked at the goshinboku. She sighed and sat at the trunk. She sighed.
'It's not like I have a problem with being normal. Many normal people are amazing. Like Sango. She's a demon slayer, with no sacred powers. But how can I make sure that I keep my mate alive if I can't keep him safe like I used to?'
Kagome bowed her head. She shot up and she looked up. There was a dark black cloud passing through the forest. The demonic aura was massive. Kagome jumped up and ran back to the house.
"Sango, maybe you should go back to the kids." said Kagome. Sango looked at her and nodded. "Yes, this demonic aura is massive." said Sango. They all ran out and there stood the demon from yesterday.
Inuyasha and Miroku stood in front of their wives. "What business do you have here?" asked Miroku. The demon smiled. "My business isn't with you. It's with the miko and the hanyou. But I'm mostly here for the Miko called Kagome."
Inuyasha took a step forward. "You aren't laying a hand on Kagome." He turned to Kagome. "I think that you should go with Sango to the village. Stay with her and the kids." said Inuyasha. Kagome nodded. They took off on Kirara.
The demon smiled. "You won't escape me, Miko." He ran at Inuyasha and Miroku. Sango and Kagome landed at her house and they rushed in. Sango opened a closet and there stood hiraikotsu.
She picked it up and she looked at her children. "Sango, go and help the guys. I'll stay here with the kids and Rin. You are more useful right now. I promise I won't let anything happen to them." Sango nodded.
The ground shook. The girls started screaming and crying. They ran over to Sango. "Mommy! We're scared!" They screamed. Sango hugged her daughters. She picked them up and handed them to Kagome.
"I need you to stay with Auntie Kagome. She will protect you. Be good girls and stay here." They both nodded. They both hugged Kagome. Kagome put her arms around the girls. Sango and Kagome looked at each other.
"Please keep them safe." Kagome nodded. She turned and Rin had a good hold of Sango's son. Sango changed into her demon slayers uniform and she ran out. She ran back to where her husband and Inuyasha were fighting.
Kagome hugged the girls to her. They clung to her as the ground kept shaking hard. The demon laughed as injured Inuyasha and Miroku got up. "Pathetic. You think that a mere human monk and a hanyou could stand a chance against me? Pathetic." He laughed.
"Hiraikotsu!" The giant boomerang broke through the smoke that was surrounding the demon. He laughed as he jumped away from it. He laughed as Sango appeared. "A demon slayer. Funny. You think that you can fare better than your companions?" Sango goes into a fighting stance.
"Let's find out." She came at the demon. "Kagome?" she looked down at Kin'u and Gyokuto. "Are mommy and daddy okay?" asked Kin'u. Kagome nodded. "Don't worry girls. Your parents are incredible demon slayers. They will be just fine." She hugged the girls closer.
Sango hit the ground hard. She groaned in pain as she tried to stand back up. She had a wounded shoulder. "Enough! Leave her be!" yelled Miroku. Sango looked over at him. "I can still fight."
Kagome heard a thud outside. She placed the girls over with Rin. "Rin, stay with them. Don't move." Rin nodded. "I'll stay here." She said. Kagome nodded. She opened the mat covering the doorway.
There laid Miroku. "Miroku!" she yelled, sitting him up against her. Inuyasha was thrown through trees and he hit the ground in front of Kagome hard. "Inuyasha!" She yelled. Sango was dragged across the ground and thrown as well.
"Sango!" she cried. She looked at the demon. "Just like I said. Weaklings. You pathetic fools can't keep me from Kagome." He looked over at Kagome. "Especially when your pathetic excuse of a miko can't even use her powers."
They all picked themselves up. "It's hard to believe that this pathetic girl is the one that destroyed Naraku. And she destroyed the Shikon." Inuyasha picked up his sword and he swung.
"Adamant barrage!" he yelled. The demon easily blocked it. He sent them back at Inuyasha and the others. One hit Inuyasha, knocking him off balance. The demon moved too fast and he dug his claws into Inuyasha's stomach. He screamed in pain.
Kagome looked over in horror. The demon took his claws from Inuyasha's stomach, his claws dripping in her husband's blood. Kagome mounted her bow and shot an arrow at the demon. The demon caught it in midair.
He laughed and jumped away from Inuyasha. Kagome ran over to Inuyasha. She looked at his wound, bracing him against her. She looked at the demon. "How dare you." She said lowly. Inuyasha looked at her.
"How dare you attack my friends! How dare you attack my husband!" She yelled, starting to shake. She started to walk toward the demon. "I don't know what you want with me. But I won't let you get away with hurting my husband."
"You think that just because I destroyed the jewel you can hurt me by hurting those I love!?" She yelled. The demon smiled. "What can a mere human do? You can do NOTHING." he taunted.
Kagome could feel the power well up in her. She mounted another arrow on her bow. Kagome aimed and shot. A blinding purple light emanated from Kagome. "Go!" She screamed. The arrow pierced through the demonic energy and hit the demon in the shoulder. He screamed in pain. Inuyasha and the others looked in awe.
When the glow subsided. They could see that the demon was seriously hurt. He looked at Kagome. "How!? Your powers should be sealed!" He yelled. Kagome glared at him. "Don't count on it." She mounted another arrow.
"You think that I'll let you get me again!?" he screamed. He glared at her with hatred. He flew at Kagome at a great speed, too quickly before she could release her next arrow. He grabbed her by the shoulders, pushing her into the ground as they flew.
"Kagome!" yelled Miroku and Sango. Inuyasha struggled to get up. He looked up. Kagome was pinned to the tree by the demon's serpent. Kagome struggled against its grip. The demon laughed darkly.
He caressed Kagome's cheek. Kagome wrenched her face from him. He took a piece of Kagome's hair and twirled it between his fingers. "Get off me!" She yelled. He chuckled. He looked at Kagome.
"Kagome, you are in for a world of pain. This is just the beginning of something bigger." He took her wrist and he bit it. Kagome screamed as she felt his fangs pierce through her skin. Kagome tried to twist free.
The demon leaned in. "Enjoy being haunted by Naraku." he whispered in her ear. Kagome gasped. He summoned his snake and it released her. She fell on all fours. The demon disappeared. Sango rushed over to Kagome. "Are you okay?" she asked.
Kagome looked at Sango. "I think so." She said, Sango helping her. Sango helped her up. She felt dizzy and she hit the ground. "Kagome!" cried Sango.
