Kagome shot up and looked around. She was back in her house. She looked over and saw that Inuyasha was also resting next to her. "What happened?" asked Kagome. Sango and Miroku walked over to her.
"How are you feeling?" asked Sango. Kagome looked at her. "I'm just fine. Don't worry about me. How's Inuyasha?" she asked, looking at her sleeping hanyou. "He's stable for now. Kaede was able to stop the bleeding and apply herbs to his injury. But he does need to rest for a few days." said Miroku.
Kagome nodded. "What happened?" asked Kagome. "After you hit the demon with your arrow he and his serpent attacked you. He let you go and then you collapsed." said Miroku. Kagome nodded.
She looked down at her wrist. She moved her kimono sleeve from her arm and looked down at her bare wrist. There were two fang marks on her wrist. They were red and purple, bruised.
Sango followed her best friend's gaze and looked at her wrist. "What the hell is that?" demanded Sango. Kagome turned and looked at her. "The demon bit me. He summoned his snake to keep me bound and he threatened me and bit me."
"What scares me a little is he told me I'm in for a world of hurt. He threatened me." Sango looked at her. She didn't want to tell Sango about the Naraku sightings that she was seeing. She wasn't even sure she wanted to tell Inuyasha about it.
Sango took Kagome's wrist and looked at the bite marks. "He may have distributed some kind of venom. Do you feel okay? Weak? Sick?" asked Sango.
Kagome shook her head. "No, I feel fine. It just hurts to bend my wrist. It feels bruised and a little hot to the touch. But I feel normal." said Kagome. "But please don't tell Inuyasha. I don't want him to worry."
"You can't keep something like this from him, Kagome." said Miroku. "He deserves to know if there is something wrong with you. We don't want another repeat of the Naraku attack. That almost killed him." said Miroku.
"I understand that I can't keep it from him. But I can't tell him right now. He needs to recover. The demon tore his stomach to shreds." said Kagone. "But we don't know that the demon wants with you. He knew you by name." said Sango.
"I know, but I want to keep it to myself for the time being. He'll go after the demon before he fully heals. And I don't want that to happen. He doesn't deserve that at all." said Kagome. Sango put her hand on Kagome's shoulder.
"Kagome Inuyasha is just trying to show you that he wants to keep you safe and he will kill anything that is a threat to you." Kagome nodded. "I know."
Inuyasha groaned in pain. She crawled over to him. She pushed his bangs from his forehead. His eyes opened slightly. "Kagome?" Kagome smiled at him. "Shhh, just rest Inuyasha. I'm right here." Inuyasha closed his eyes.
"We are going to return to the children." said Miroku. Kagome nodded. "Thank you, for everything. I'm sorry that I brought this danger back into your lives." said Kagome sadly. They looked at her.
"This is our destiny. We are all destined to be together and fight alongside each other." said Miroku. Kagome nodded. Kagome watched as her friends headed back to the village. Kagome frowned as she walked back into the house.
She walked over and she applied herbs to her wrist and she wrapped it. She hissed in pain as the herb entered her wound. She walked over and she laid next to her love. 'I fear that I'm the one that will bring destruction from those I love.' She lifted her arm up and looked at her wrist.
'That I'm the one that needs to be feared.' She closed her eyes.
….
Three days passed since they were attacked by the demon. Inuyasha was ordered to rest by Kagome. He was to be on bed rest while he healed. He hated it. He wanted to be with Kagome. And she wouldn't allow anything to happen while he was healing.
With every day that passed, Kagome dreaded telling Inuyasha about her wrist. She wanted to keep it a secret until he healed mostly. She knew that as soon as he knew that she was in potential danger, he would go after the demon.
Inuyasha's eyes fluttered open on the fourth day. He looked at her. "How are you feeling? Any better?" she asked. He nodded. "I feel fine. The wounds have completely closed. They are still a little sore though." he said.
Kagome nodded. He looked over and saw the bandage around her wrist. "What happened there?" he asked. Kagome looked down. Her heart raced. She had to tell him now. She couldn't lie to him.
"It's not important. Let me check your wounds first." said Kagome. Inuyasha nodded. Kagome unraveled the bandages and she looked at his stomach. The wound looked months old. There was still some redness but nothing too bad.
Inuyasha looked at her. "Now will you tell me what happened to your wrist?" he asked. "Did you break it or something?" she shook her head. "No, not broken." Kagome took a deep breath and sighed heavily.
"Kagome?" asked Inuyasha, putting the top of his kimono back on. "Okay, you have to promise me that you won't do anything stupid. You have to remain calm." Inuyasha raised an eyebrow.
"Now, you're scaring me. What happened?" he asked. Kagome took a deep breath. "After you passed out the demon attacked me. He pinned me to a tree. And he told me that I was in a world of pain. That this was just the beginning."
"Before I could get free, he bit me." she took the bandages from her wrist and showed it to Inuyasha. He gently took her wrist and looked at the bite mark. It was more purple. He got up and stormed out of the house.
Kagome rushed after him. "Come and get me you bastard!" he yelled, looking through the trees. Kagome ran over to him and hugged him from behind. "Please stop Inuyasha! Please you'll reopen your wounds!" she cried.
He separated from her. "You can't just expect me to wait and do nothing! We don't know what the hell that demon did to you!" he yelled. Kagome flinched. "This is why I don't tell you things." Inuyasha looked at her.
"You go off half-cocked and go after the demon before you think! I didn't even want to tell you!" She yelled. Inuyasha looked at her. "I thought we were past that." he said. Kagome turned to look at him.
"I thought you were done keeping secrets from me." he said. Kagome nodded. "I am." she said. Inuyasha shook his head. "It's been four days since the attack. And we have talked since then. Why did you wait to tell me after I asked you about your wrist?"
Kagome looked at him. "This is why!" he looked at her. "This is why! Because you just called out the demon and you wanted to fight before you listened! And healed!" She yelled. "Because he hurt you!" Kagome backed away.
"That day that you died, it still haunts me. Gives me nightmares." Kagome looked at him with shock. "Naraku hurt you. And then it killed you. You died in my arms Kagome! You died in my arms after you promised me that you would fight! You left me!" he yelled.
Kagome continued to look at him. "I know that you were gravely injured and you were poisoned! But you have to understand that your dying had an effect on me." Kagome looked at the ground. "So when I saw that the demon hurt you I was overcome with anger. And you can't condemn me for that."
"You are my wife. And I am going to keep my wife safe and I will destroy those that harm you! And you can't get mad at me for that!" he yelled. He walked away from her. Kagome dropped to her knees and she sighed.
She hadn't thought about what her death did to Inuyasha. They had never had the chance to talk about it. And that must have been very scary and painful for Inuyasha. She looked up. Naraku was standing there.
She gasped and jumped away from him. "What the hell? How are you here? You're dead." She said. He laughed. "Am I? Am I truly dead?" He chuckled. He went to touch her. Kagome flinched from it. She looked back and Naraku was gone.
"What the hell is going on? Why is he here?" she asked herself. She sighed and rested her head in between her hands.
