Kagome sighed angrily. She went back into the house and she started cleaning up, throwing things around, trying to get started with lunch. 'I knew that telling him was a bad idea!' She slammed stuff around and she put her hand to her forehead, sitting down.
Tears filled her eyes and she cried out in frustration. "Dammit." she whispered as she sobbed. Inuyasha stormed through the woods and made his way to the village. He walked to Miroku and Sango's.
Inuyasha stopped in front of the house. Miroku was outside playing with the twins. Miroku looked at his friend. "Girls, why don't you go inside and eat with your mother." They both nodded. "Yes, Daddy." they said.
Miroku walked over to him. "Where's Kagome?" he asked. Inuyasha sighed. "Home probably. We got into it." Inuyasha went to sit, and Miroku followed. "What happened?" asked Miroku. "Kagome told me what happened the day we were attacked by the demon."
Miroku nodded. "And?" he asked. Inuyasha scoffed. "Well, we fought. I yelled at her about keeping secrets." He said, sighing. Miroku nodded. "I understand that you're upset that it was kept from you and Kagome didn't tell you."
"But you have to understand. Kagome didn't do that maliciously. She was just trying to protect you. She wanted you to recover and not be worn out. And you also have to understand, Kagome has seen you almost die a few times because you didn't allow yourself to heal."
Inuyasha looked at him. "I know that Miroku. But she died in my arms. I felt her blood soak into my haori and I can still remember trying to get her bleeding under control. I remember the smell of her blood. It was everywhere. I never want that to happen to her again. I want to keep her safe."
Miroku nodded. "I understand. That day was traumatic for you both. And you are haunted by it a lot. But just try and see it from her side too. She worries for you just as much as you worry for her." Inuyasha sighed and nodded.
…..
Kagome sighed as she finished cleaning. She stopped a sharp pain in her head. "What is this? This hurts!" she said, holding her head. She heard a ringing bell. It was a high pitched beautiful sound.
"What is that sound? It's beautiful," she said, looking around. Her head still burned but she was entranced by the sound. "Come to me, Kagome." came a voice in her head. Her eyes glazed over black and she started to walk out of the house.
…
"I never want to see that again. I want her to stay with me for a very long time." said Inuyasha. Miroku nodded. "And that's fine. It's fine to feel that way. But you need to find another way to tell her that without starting a fight or yelling at her." said Miroku. He nodded.
"Thanks, Miroku. I'm going to go back home and talk to her." Miroku nodded. Inuyasha took off running. He stopped in front of the house. "Kagome, can we talk? I promise I won't yell. I just want to talk to you."
No answer. "Kagome? Please, at least give me an answer." he said. No answer. He opened the mat and looked around. Kagome was gone. He looked around. He looked by the cooking pot. There were two bowls of rice sitting there.
He smelled the air. The scent was stale. Inuyasha ran out of the house. "Kagome! Kagome where are you!?" He yelled, looking around. Her scent was stale everywhere. He took off through the woods.
Kagome continued to walk through the woods. "That's it Kagome. Just follow my voice." said the voice. Kagome continued to follow the noise and the voice. Inuyasha finally caught up to her. He jumped in front of her.
"Kagome, what are you doing out here?" he asked. She continued to walk. "Look, I get if you're still pissed at me. But I just want to talk to you." she continued to walk. "Please, talk to me. At least stop and tell me to go away." he said, with a hint of annoyance.
"Stop ignoring me." he said angrily. He walked in front of her and put his hands on her shoulders. "Kagome!" he yelled. He looked at her eyes, glazed over. He gasped. "Kagome! Kagome!" he yelled.
No change. He gripped her shoulders tighter. He shook her hard. "Kagome!" he yelled. Kagome gasped, snapping out of it. She looked around and she looked at Inuyasha. "Inuyasha?" she asked.
She put a hand to her head. "Are you alright?" he asked. Kagome nodded. "I just don't remember anything really. All I remember is a pain in my head. And a sweet ringing sound. It felt like it spoke to my soul."
She looked at her wrist. He followed her gaze. "Do you think it has something to do with your demon bite?" he asked. She nodded. "Maybe." She looked at Inuyasha. "There's something else."
Inuyasha looked at her. "What?" She sighed. She looked back at him. "Since I came back to this era, I've been seeing Naraku." Inuyasha's eyes widened. "What? What the hell does that mean?" he asked.
Kagome shrugged her shoulders. "I've been seeing Naraku. Just standing there staring at me. And then he spoke to me." Inuyasha shook his head. "This doesn't make sense. How are you seeing Naraku? He's dead!" he yelled. Kagome nodded. "I know! I don't get it either!"
Inuyasha sighed. "Another secret." he said, scoffing. Kagome glared at him. "Would you stop with that!?" Inuyasha looked at her in shock. "You don't get to hate me and be angry with me every time I don't tell you something right away!"
"I made that mistake and you can't stop condemning me for it! You punish me for it by saying all I do is keep secrets from you! And I don't!" She screamed. "And I am scared Inuyasha! I am terrified that I am going crazy!"
"I am seeing a dead guy! I am seeing a guy that I know is dead! I don't know if this is the jewel punishing me again. Or if it's Naraku's last act of cruelty! And all you can think about is how I haven't told you right away! That's not fair!" She screamed, tears filling her eyes.
Inuyasha looked at his upset wife and sobs overtake her body. Inuyasha walks over to her and hugs her tightly. "I'm sorry Kagome. It's okay. I'm here. I promise. We will figure this out." he said, as he rubbed her back.
Kagome hugged him tightly. She sobbed into his chest. "Please, take me home." she said. Inuyasha nodded. He picked her up and cradled her to his chest as he took them back home. Inuyasha laid her on their futon and she lay there, still crying.
Inuyasha sat next to her. Kagome turned over and put her head in his lap. Inuyasha started to rub her head as her sobs subsided. She sat up and looked at him. "We are going to figure this out. We will get help and we are going to fix this. I promise. I'm here." Kagome nodded.
She closed her eyes and tried to rest for a bit. She woke up a few hours later and she sat up and looked over. Inuyasha was cooking dinner. He looked over and he smiled lightly. "You're awake."
She nodded. "How are you feeling?" he asked. Kagome shifted and looked at him. "A little better. Still have a bit of a headache." Inuyasha nodded. He sat next to her. "Kagome, I want to talk about our fight. Without yelling." She nodded.
Kagome nodded. "I'm sorry for yelling. For the things that I said to you. I am sorry that I keep being an ass when it comes to the secrets thing. You were going to tell me. And I can't say when you can tell me things. And I am sorry that I upset you so much."
"But I also want you to understand. I have been too close to losing you many times. I felt you die in my arms. You were missing for three days in the meido. Then you were gone for three years. I never want to feel the pain and fear that came with you dying that day. I won't survive it a second time."
Kagome reached over and caressed his cheek. "Inuyasha, I'm not going anywhere. I am here and you will never lose me again. I promise you." Inuyasha nodded. "And I am so sorry that I upset you so much. I guess I didnt really think about what my death to you. I didnt think about that and I am so sorry about that."
Inuyasha nodded. "I forgive you." he said, their foreheads touching. They separated. "Come on, let's eat." Kagome nodded. They ate dinner and soon they fell asleep in each other's arms. Kagome gasped awake.
There was the bell sound again. "Kagome…." Went the voice. She got up and she walked out of the house. "Who are you?" she asked. She continued to follow the voice. "Kagome…come to me. Kagome…" called the voice.
She kept walking through the moonlit trees. She came to a dark cave and stopped. She snapped out of it. She looked around. "Where am I?" she asked. She looked at the cave. "Welcome, Kagome." She turned around and there stood the demon. She backed away. "What am I doing here? What do you want with me?" she asked as she backed away.
The demon walked up to her, caressing her cheek. "My name is Akumu. Welcome to your own hell, Miko." He said with a crazed smile. He grabbed her. "Inuyasha!" she screamed.
