"Kagome! Come back to me! Kagome!" yelled Inuyasha. Akumu laughed. "I don't know how many times I have to tell you. She's deaf to your pleas. She can't hear you. She can't sense you. She can't hear you."
Miroku looked over at Sango. "We have to get to the cave and to Kagome." he said. Sango nodded. "Hiraikotsu!" she yelled. The giant boomerang cut off the head of the serpent. Miroku crushed the head with his staff.
Akumu summoned more serpents. They surrounded Miroku and Sango. "Sango you need to get to Kagome! I'll hold off the serpents! You go to the cave." Sango nodded. While Akumu was distracted by Inuyasha, Sango made a run for it.
She climbed around the cave. She tripped. She sat up and jumped away as she came face to face with a skull. She looked around. There were skeletons everywhere. She looked around. "Kagome!" she yelled.
She ran over and tried to get her friend free. She was shocked away from her. Sango hit the ground. "Kagome! Wake up!" she yelled. Tears were running down her face. She was whimpering. "Inuyasha." she whimpered in her slumber.
"Kagome! You have to wake up! Inuyasha is waiting for you!" she yelled. Kagome pulsated. She gasped. Akumu stopped fighting. Miroku looked toward the cave. "No." said Miroku. Inuyasha turned to look at Miroku.
"Kagome's been possessed by Akumu. She's being taken over by his venom. Her once-purifying light is dark. She's giving off the same evil aura that Akumu does." said Miroku. Inuyasha growled. He went to swing at Akumu and he caught the blade.
Inuyasha gasped. Akumu turned and looked at Inuyasha. "You are still now more than a half-demon. Nothing more." He threw Inuyasha to the ground. Before Inuyasha could react the demon put his fist through Inuyasha's shoulder. Inuyasha screamed out in pain. He dropped the sword and writhed in pain.
He summoned a cloud and threw Sango from the cave. She hit the ground hard. She sat up and glared at the demon. "We will bring our friend back. And you will pay for this." she said angrily. Akumu laughed.
"Try." he went back to his cave, erecting a barrier around the entrance. Miroku picked up Inuyahsa by the other shoulder and dragged him over to Kirara. They looked back at the cave. "We have to get medical care for Inuyasha." said Miroku.
Sango continued to look at the cave. "Sango, we have to come back. We have to take care of Inuyasha. We can do that for Kagome." said Miroku. Sango sighed and nodded. They jumped on Kirara and she flew back to the village.
Kagome's nightmare
Kagome stood there, looking in horror. Inuyasha was laying there on the ground. His amber eyes were open, nonblinking. Kagome dropped to her knees. "I killed Inuyasha! I killed him!" she screamed.
She looked up to Sango and Miroku. Their hair covering their eyes. "How could you do something like this?" asked Sango. "What do you expect? Kagome is so weak. Allowing herself to be possessed by a demon like this. Of course, she was going to kill Inuyasha." said Miroku.
Kagome shook her head. "No! I didn't do this on purpose! I swear!" She cried as she sobbed. She turned to look at Akumu. "How could you make me do this!? How could you make me kill the man I love!?" She cried hysterically.
Akumu laughed. "Because you are weak. And it was fun. All this despair you are feeling is so delicious. Hard to believe that you are the miko that destroyed the jewel. You are the weakest miko that I have ever come across." he laughed.
There came another laugh. Kagome turned and there stood Naraku. "See Kagome. Even though I'm dead you still can't keep Inuyasha safe. You can't help but follow the same steps as Kikyo. You really are Kikyo."
Kagome shook her head. "No! I am not Kikyo. I'm Kagome! Ka-Go-Me!" She yelled. Naraku and Akumu laughed as they circled around her. She looked over and she crawled to Inuyasha's body.
She cradled his head and she cried hysterically. "I'm so so so so sorry Inuyasha!" She screamed. "Your mind was so easy to invade. You have so much guilt with Inuyasha, all I had to do was latch onto that and invade your mind."
"You were too weak to resist me. And now because of your weakness, you killed Inuyasha. Inuyasha is dead. Because of you. And now you get to spend the rest of your existence with me. I've decided to keep you around for a bit. Despite how good you taste." he laughed darkly.
"This is where you will spend the rest of your life. And no one will look for you. You have killed the man you love. You killed your friend's companion. No one will look for you. You are completely and utterly alone. You will not be missed."
"You are hated for your heinous act." Kagome started to cry harder. Akumu and Naraku laughed at the crying girl.
Kagome had tears streaming down her face. "Inuyasha…" she trailed off.
Inuyasha gasped awake. He looked around. "Easy, we just got done wrapping your shoulder. Luckily Akumu didn't put his fist completely through your shoulder." said Miroku. Inuyasha looked at them.
"Where's Kagome?" he asked. "She's still with Akumu. We weren't able to get her back yet." Inuyasha sighed and looked at the ground. "I see." They looked at him with shock. "You're awfully calm." said Miroku.
Inuyasha looked at them. "I'm worried that we won't reach her." said Inuyasha. "Sango, you couldn't wake her up." Sango looked at him. "But I'm not you, Inuyasha. Kagome will probably respond to you better."
Inuyasha looked at her. "You think?" They nodded. "You can't give up on her. I saw her in that cave. She's fighting hard. And she's going through something traumatic." Inuyasha looked at her. "All she was doing was calling your name. She needs you Inuyasha." said Sango.
Inuyasha nodded. "Then let's go. We need to get her back." he said. Miroku put his hand on his other shoulder. "You need to rest." Inuyasha glared at him. "If you think I'm going to rest while Kagome is like this, you've got another thing coming. I need to get my mate back." Miroku sighed and nodded. "Then let's go."
Akumu moved the hair from Kagome's face. He caressed her cheek. "You really are a beautiful girl. Perhaps we can be happy together." he pulsated as did Kagome. "AKUMU!" came a scream. Akumu walked to the edge of the cave.
"Give me back Kagome! You've had your fun with her! Let her go!" yelled Inuyasha. Akumu laughed. He snapped and Kagome appeared. She was woven in, surrounded by spider silk. She had tears falling down her face still.
Inuyasha growled as he looked at his captured mate. He looked at the demon and took out his sword. He aimed it at Akumu. He laughed. "Are you sure you really want to do that? You will be endangering your PRECIOUS Kagome." He sneered.
Inuyasha growled. "What the hell are you doing to her!?" He yelled. Akumu laughed. "I'm feeding off of her. Her life force if you will. The more fear and pain she's in, the more delicious she tastes. And let me tell you, the nightmare that she's in is a doozy."
Inuyasha went after him, sword drawn. Akumu laughed and easily jumped out of the way. Inuyasha looked at Kagome. "Kagome! Wake up! Come back to me! Wake up or Akumu will devour your soul! Come on!" he yelled.
Kagome's hand twitched. Her eyes fluttered open. She looked over. "Inuyasha? You're alive?" She asked. Inuyasha nodded. "I'm right here." Kagome looked at him, her eyes still a solid black. "Come back to me Kagome. I know you can do it."
Akumu glared at Inuyasha. "Damn you!" His eyes glowed, as did Kagome's. She lost consciousness again. "Kagome!" yelled Inuyasha. Akumu's eyes flashed red and the silk changed into jet-black branches.
She's surrounded by black branches around a tree. Kagome is being pulled into the trunk. They wrapped tighter around her. Kagome whimpered in her slumber. "Kagome!" Inuyasha glared at Akumu.
"Adamant Barrage!" he yelled. A shard of adamant hit Akumu in the shoulder. He glared at Inuyasha. He summoned the branches and they shot out of the ground, binding Inuyasha. "Dammit!" he yelled. Akumu lands in front of Inuyasha.
Sango and Miroku came at the demon. Sango took her sword from her hip and strikes at the demon. He grabs Sango by the ankle and throws her across the ground, her hitting it hard. She groaned in pain.
"Sango!" yelled Miroku. He glared at the demon and he threw talismans. Akumu destroys the talismans, sending Miroku to the ground as well. Inuyasha turns and looks at Kagome "Kagome, can you hear me!?" he yelled, struggling against the branches.
"Kagome! Please!" he begged. He struggled to get free. Akumu landed in front of Inuyasha. "Too bad I can't feed on you Inuyasha. I can't feed on demons. But the more I feed on Kagome, the stronger I get. She's a gifted young miko." he said.
"But she will die a normal girl. All I have to do is let her struggle through her fear and guilt. Her greatest fear is losing your three. Killing you Inuyasha. She has great guilt right now. She believes that she has killed you Inuyasha. And it's killing her mentally."
"All I have to do is let the guilt grow and then I can crush her soul. And she will be mine." Inuyasha continued to struggle. "Kagome! Wake up! Come back to me!" he yelled.
Kagome opened her eyes and looked around. "Inuyasha? Is that you?" she called in the darkness. "Remember Kagome, you are nothing but a burden on those you love. Inuyasha is dead because of you. You are the reason why Sango and Miroku suffer every day. You are the reason why they can't be parents to their children. You are a burden on all those you love. You aren't needed."
Kagome turned and looked at Inuyasha. His hair was covering his eyes. He had a hole in his chest. Blood was dripping down his chest into a puddle below him. "Why Kagome?" his hair moved to show his amber eyes solid, dead.
"You are the reason why I'm dead. YOU did this. YOU killed me with your bare hands. I thought you loved me." Kagome walked closer to him. "I do! I swear! I love you so much, Inuyasha!" she yelled. She reached for him.
He backed away from her, a cruel look in his dead eyes. "How could I have loved such a monster? Such a weak miko. You don't belong here." he spat out with venom. Kagome flinched and she dropped to her knees.
Inuyasha fought the branches as he saw Akumu glow as did Kagome. He gasped. There were streams of blood running down her eyes. "No! Kagome! Wake up! You're so much stronger than this!" he yelled. "We are all here for you Kagome! We love you!" yelled Sango.
Kagome looked up and she was surrounded by the true forms of her companions. "We all need you, Kagome. You are our companion," said Miroku. "You are our precious friend. Don't listen to the lies this demon has told you." said Sango. "Kagome."
She turned to Inuyasha. "Don't let this demon devour your soul. Come back to me. I love you. I need you." Inuyasha held out his hand. Kagome wiped the tears from her eyes and she took Inuyasha's hand. A bright light shined.
