Despite Cale's efforts and Violan scolding the two, Basen and Lily continued to try and talk to him much to his irritation. He doesn't want to talk to them let alone be around them. He felt like it was just wrong for him to do so. Not because they are his new family but because he just feels uncomfortable around them.
He is sure that it isn't them but himself. He felt like he changed ever since his mother died along with his father ignoring him. And with him no longer being able to contact his other relatives about his gifts, he was forced to do everything on his own.
Along with his mother's butler being around him most of the time, although he made him feel uneasy, Ron was slightly uncomfortable to be around. Not because of his background of coming from an assassin family but because of his benign smile and his servings of lemon tea as well.
It was to say annoying but he was forced to go through it. Cale sighed as he eyed the empty tea cup that previously held lemon tea that Ron had brought in a couple of minutes after he had woken up. He still felt the sour taste linger in his mouth be it a little duller than before.
Although he had no problems with Ron, he irritated him from time to time. Whenever Cale went out to train or to clear his head, he always felt a presence following him around. It was enough that Cale would have to try and loos the guy by dissipating his aura to where he is nearly undetectable.
Of course, he didn't learn this from his mentors but by teaching himself. He is sure that his mom would be proud of how far he has gotten. Cale, not wanting to be sad today, shook his head off unwanted thoughts and got out of bed to start his day of running away from his not-siblings who continued to not leave him alone.
Although he appreciated Violan's help in trying to keep the two away from him, it was a waste of effort considering that they were stubborn enough that they wouldn't just leave him alone. He felt amused by the two but irritation was more present than the latter.
As leaves his room, he isn't surprised to see Ron waiting for him. He never once spared the old man a glance as he just walked to the dining room for breakfast. Before, Deruth never once spent breakfast with Cale when he locked himself away in his study, no matter how many times he had promised him he would, he never joined him. But now, as he opens the dining room door, his father left his study to join everyone for breakfast.
Deruth started to take part in breakfast not because of Cale, but because of Violan, Basen, and Lily. Was he just not good enough to eat with? To spend time with? Isn't he enough? Why wasn't he enough?
Although those thoughts plagued him for moments, he always pushed them away and continued to do what he was doing. Cale sat down in a seat away from the four family members and started to eat, unknown to him that they were glancing at him every second.
Well, it was supposed to go unnoticed anyway, but being the kind of kid he was, he noticed right away. He contemplated on whether or not to stay quiet about their glances or to say something. He chose that last one.
Putting his utensils down he glanced up at the two adults and children who all flinched once they made eye contact with him.
"What is it."
He asked with a raised brow. He said it in a blank tone but deep down he was curious about what they might need. It was a while before someone spoke.
"Cale, I know that you don't seem to like us and that it is alright, but I was just wondering if you would like to hang out with Basen and Lily? You don't have to if you don't want to, of course, I am not trying to force you to do something you are not comfortable with"
Violan responded as she subtly fiddled with her utensils. Everyone looked nervous to say and Cale just looked at them. Of course, since he had nothing much to do, he could say yes but, why should he?
Why should he hang out with the two people he was entirely trying to avoid?
"Why?"
Violan seemed caught off guard by his response but she quickly answered him.
"They want to get to know you, because even though you might not consider them your siblings, they consider you their sibling, despite you trying to push them away. And if you haven't noticed, the two are quite stubborn"
Cale was to say conflicted. They considered him their sibling but he doesn't consider them his siblings which is halfway correct. He doesn't dislike them but he doesn't like them either. Cale was quiet for a while and everyone decided to leave it at that and continue to eat.
It was a few minutes until Cale said something as he got out of his seat.
"Fine, I'll be in the garden"
And then he left. Violan was stunned until she smiled as she looked at the other three.
"Mom, what does that mean?"
Lily asked, confused by her older brother's words. Violan looked at Lily before responding.
"He is allowing you two to hang out with him and he will be in the garden waiting so hurry up and finish your breakfast so that you don't keep him waiting for too long"
Hearing their mother's words, Basen and Lily quickly gobble up their breakfast before excusing themselves and leaving the room.
Deruth, stunned, just laughed at the two. Violan just side-eyed the man in confusion.
"Why are you laughing?"
After having calmed down, Deruth responded.
"It's just that they seemed so eager to finally be able to hang out with Cale, it's sweet"
Violan could only sigh and nod. 'Yes, it is sweet, but it's also sad at how long they have waited to finally hang out with him'. With that last thought, Violan took a sip of her wine before quickly excusing herself so that she could get ahead on her duties as a countess.
Cale softly caressed one of the red roses that were grown in the garden that was behind the Henituse estate. It's a garden that his mother used to always take care of but now, maids take care of it.
Cale frowned before sighing as he turned around and was met with two faces. Lily and Basen stood in front of him with nervous expressions. Cale raised a brow at their demeanor.
"What do you want to do?"
Cale asked before surprise overwhelmed him as the two flinched at him before stammering out incoherent responses. Was he scary? Or is just uncomfortable to talk to? They wanted to hang out with him, didn't they?
"C-Could we, um, play some, uhh, hide a-and seek...?"
Lily asked as Basen nodded beside her. They both looked timid, the complete opposite of when they followed him around. Cale sighed, unknowingly making the two flinch before nodding his head.
"Okay, whose it?"
