xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Route 2, Melemele Island, 4:12 p.m. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Psychic type, Psychic type, Psychic type." Keats said frantically as he walked along the path. "Have to find a Psychic type..." He continued as Rotom floated next to him.

"Mumbling to yourzzzzelf isn't helping." Rotom stated as Keats glared at the phone.

"Look, I am really on edge right now." Keats said as he looked around at the nearby woods. "Now I have to put in effort..." He said as he tried to spot what he thinks is a Psychic type Pokémon.

"First, let's azzzzzzzzezzzzzzzz-" Rotom said until Keats spoke up.

"Will you pick words that have less "s'" in them?!" Keats complained as he stopped walking to look at Rotom, annoyed by the phone Pokémon's speech habit.

"All I wazzzz trying to say is that we need to figure out what Psychic type Pokémon to look for!" Rotom exclaimed in an agitated tone.

"Ye-yeah, what to look for..." Keats said as he turned to look at the woods. "Hey, what's along this road?" He said as he pointed at the road before looking at Rotom.

"Route 2 is a seaside path connecting the southern and northern parts of Melemele Island." Rotom explained as its screen show an image of the island. "It's also a known training area for many local trainers... Beginners too." The phone Pokémon continued as Keats winced.

"Yeah, I get it. I'm lackluster." Keats thought with a slight headshake.

"This route also connects to Berry Fields and Hau'oli Cemetery, zzzzt." Rotom said as Keats' eyes perked up.

"A cemetery and a Berry farm?" Keats said with interest. "Summon the dead and eat a Pinap Berry! Come one, come all!" He thought with a smirk forming on his face, internally laughing at his own joke.

"Thizzzz route also leads to Verdant Cavern." Rotom said.

"Any known Psychic types in that cave?" Keats asked.

"Not in my database it appearzzzz." Rotom said. "Most Pokémon appearing in the Verdant Cavern consists of Yungoos, its evolved form, Gumshoos, Zubat, Noibat, Diglett, Rattata and its evolved form, Raticate." The phone Pokémon stated as Keats looked at it with surprise.

"They got Zubats here?" Keats said as he pointed at the ground.

"Correct, zzzzt." Rotom replied.

"...Dear lord..." Keats said as his eyes widened and stared off into space.

"Keatzzzz?" Rotom said as the phone Pokémon looked at the large adult trainer.

'"Coming to a theater near you! It started as a Charmeleon, but being bit by a radioactive Golbat had changed it with its evolution! Zubatizard! The harrowing tale of the blue Charizard! Only in theaters."' Keats thought as he remembered a movie tagline he remembered from back home. "...That movie sucked..." He said aloud as Rotom raised a digitized eyebrow at him.

"...Anyway... zzzzt." Rotom said, confused.

"Oh yeah, right. Sorry." Keats said as he realized he got distracted again. "Best bet is to just go wander around." He said as he walked off the path and into the forest along Route 2.

Brushing past the foliage, Keats trekked through the woods with Rotom following behind him. Looking upward, Keats noticed a series of familiar bird-like Pokémon with brown heads and red wings appear from the trees he pushed against, flying away.

"Spearows in the trees, Shellders in the water, Zubats in the caves. This place definitely feels different than Unova did." Keats said to himself. "More humidity too... Ugh, my pits feel awful..." He thought as he rubbed his left armpit.

"What do you mean, zzzzt?" Rotom asked.

"Remember in Unova we didn't find any Pokémon that I recognized? Everything we came across, aside from Alder's Mareep, was new to me. Here, I'm seeing some familiar faces." Keats said as he walked deeper into the woods.

"Not every region in the world has only Pokémon native to itzzzzelf." Rotom explained. "We're not going to find only Alolan Pokémon along thizzzz path." The phone Pokémon continued.

"Maybe we'll get lucky and find a Psychic type Pokémon I recognize, like an Exeggutor." Keats said as he continued walking.

"...Actually, Keatzzzz-" Rotom said until it stopped talking as it looked up.

"Huh? What-..." Keats said until he looked up to notice something incredibly tall standing up amongst the trees.

With the pair looking upwards, a very tall Pokémon that looked like a palm tree with a trio of yellow faces and green leaf-like appendages at the very top of it had appeared. With all three faces smiling, the creature proceeded to walk through the woods, passing by Keats and Rotom.

"Exegg!" The palm tree-like Pokémon said.

"...Rotom..." Keats said while not looking at the phone. "...What was that and why did it remind me of an Exeggutor...?" He said as he stared at the ground.

"That wazzzz an Exeggutor..." Rotom said.

"...Excuse me?" Keats said as he turned to look at the phone. "They grow to be that tall over here?!" He exclaimed in shock.

"Not only that, but they also aren't Pzzzzychic types in Alola." Rotom stated as Keats' eyes widened in shock as Rotom showed its screen to him. '"Exeggutor - Alolan Form, the Coconut Pokémon, a Grass and Dragon type. As it grew taller and taller, it outgrew its reliance on psychic powers, while within it awakened the power of the sleeping dragon."' The phone Pokémon said, reading off Alolan Exeggutor's PokéDex entry.

"...What the..." Keats said with a distraught tone and expression. "Wait, it's a Dragon type now?" He said, bewildered.

"Yezzzz." Rotom stated.

"...So much for getting an Exeggu- wait, hold on..." Keats said until he stopped upon thinking about what Rotom said. "Are there any other Pokémon in this region that I recognize that are going to be abnormal?" He asked.

"...Shall I list their names and type changezzzz...?" Rotom said as Keats folded his arms.

"I swear, if there is one that doesn't make too much sense to me, I'm going to have a stroke..." Keats thought. "Hit me..." He said.

"Geodude, zzzzt." Rotom stated as the phone flashed an image of a Kantonian Geodude.

"Rock and Ground type." Keats said.

"Here, they are Rock and Electric typezzzz." Rotom said as the phone flashed an image of an Alolan Geodude, sporting a lighter grey color with massive eyebrows and standing rock strands on top.

"...That's horrifying..." Keats replied.

"Ninetalezzzz." Rotom said as it flashed an image of a Kantonian Ninetales.

"A Fire type Pokémon... What is it here?" Keats asked.

"An Ice and Fairy type, zzzzt." Rotom said as it flashed an image of an Alolan Ninetales with blue eyes and wavy fur.

"...I mean... Cute? I guess?" Keats thought with a raised eyebrow, unsure how to process the visual difference. "Okay, just... One more." He said while raising a finger.

"Alright. Marowak, zzzzt." Rotom said as it flashed an image of a Kantonian Marowak.

"...And it's?" Keats said with a cautious tone.

"Ghozzzzt and Fire type." Rotom said as it flashed an image of an Alolan Marowak, now with a blackened body, a mark on its head and its bone that they are known for carrying now having green fire on the ends.

Upon seeing the image of Alolan Marowak, Keats proceeded to put his hands over his mouth as he struggled to process the change from Cubone to Marowak being so different in Alola in comparison to everywhere else. With a face full of pure confusion, Keats walked over to a tree and sat down on the ground, his back laying against the pine.

"Hey, you okay, zzzzt?" Rotom asked, growing concerned.

"I really hate the tropics..." Keats said with his hands over his mouth and his head shaking.

"Maybe we zzzzhould take a moment, zzzzt..." Rotom said as it floated over to Keats.

"Yeah, I'm not in the mood to do anything right now... And the sun's going down." Keats said as he stood up and reached into one of his messenger bags. "Get that video up on how to set up a tent again, please..." He said as he searched his bags.

"You still can't remember how to set up a tent?" Rotom thought.

After a half hour of setting up his tent, the large adult trainer placed down a tarp on the ground and proceeded to take out all of his Pokéballs and put them on the ground. Pressing the balls to open them up, out came Keats' Pokémon as he walked over to one of his bags and pulled out a cooking pot and some Berries.

"Timburr..." Timburr muttered in a depressed tone as he looked around and failed to see his log anywhere.

"...Sorry, I'm still looking for it." Keats said as he held the pot in his hands as Timburr sat on the tarp, next to Shellder.

"Stunktunk." Stunky said as he and Pineco approached their trainer.

"Our "investigation" keeps hitting snags..." Keats said towards Pineco and Stunky.

"Druddigon." Druddigon muttered as he flapped his wings and went into the air, searching.

"Hold on a moment." Keats said towards Druddigon who looked downward at him. "We're taking a break; I'd rather we'd all eat as a group and then search as one too. Alright?" He said towards the Dragon type as Druddigon looked at Keats with surprise before descending back towards the ground, landing on the tarp next to Timburr and Shellder.

"Pineco." Pineco said as Rotom floated over.

"Pineco says that was a thoughtful decizzzzion." Rotom said.

"Shellder." Shellder said as Keats looked at the clam-like Pokémon.

"What she say?" Keats asked towards Rotom.

"Shellder is zzzzaying she's hungry." Rotom translated as Timburr and Stunky's stomachs grumbled.

"Okay, give me a minute." Keats said as he poured a container of broth into the big pot and then placed it on a portable hot plate.

"...Remember to zzzzhut it off thizzzz time." Rotom said with a judgmental expression as Keats winced.

"I know, I know..." Keats said in a complaining tone. "I'm going to make some food for myself, I got type specific food in my bag." He said as he turned on the hot plate to heat up the broth before walking over to his bag to pull out a pile of various Berries.

"You really got all that food, zzzzt?" Rotom questioned. "Eccentric behavior aside, he's taking the time to take care of his Pokémon, at least." The phone Pokémon thought as it examined Keats' actions.

"I'm making a batch of Berry stew in case anyone is interested. I brought some Figy, Nanab and Sitrus Berries to cook into it." Keats said towards his team as Stunky, Druddigon and Shellder perked up with interest.

"Shell!" Shellder said while raising her tongue high in the air.

"She happy?" Keats said towards Rotom.

"Definitely, zzzzt." Rotom replied.

"Druddigon." Druddigon said with a nod as he got up and walked over to Keats.

Grabbing one of the Sitrus Berries out of the pile of Berries, Druddigon put his claws on both sides of the Sitrus Berry and proceeded to pull apart the Berry, splitting it in two. Handing both ends to Keats, Druddigon proceeded to grab another Berry and repeated the same action to one of the Figy Berries.

"That's... Actually, very helpful... Thanks." Keats said, surprised by Druddigon's actions.

"Pineco. Pineco." Pineco said with a happy tone.

"Zzzzee." Rotom said as the phone Pokémon floated over to Keats ear. "This is all a part of training Pokémon. Bonding, zzzzt." The phone Pokémon said as Keats looked at his team.

Shrugging, Keats proceeded to get back to cooking the Berry stew as he took the Berry half's that Druddigon was handing to him and tearing them apart to put them in the broth. Stirring with a wooden spoon for a moment, Keats proceeded to reach over to his bag and pulled out a trio of containers for Poison, Dragon and Fighting type food and handed them to Stunky, Druddigon and Timburr, respectively.

"Timb." Timburr said with a thankful nod as he opened the container and proceeded to eat the contents as Stunky dug his claws into his container of Poison type food.

"Tunktunktunk." Stunky muttered as he proceeded to jam his butt-shaped face into the food container.

"Hey, hey!" Keats muttered as he reached over to pull Stunky's face out of the container, the Poison and Dark type looking at him with confusion. "It's called "heartburn" and you get it from eating too quickly. It's going to make your gas even worse so eat slowly." He said with a tone of dominance that caught it, Pineco and everyone else off guard.

"Stu-stunk." Stunky said as he started to take out the food one by one as Keats turned back to cooking the Berry stew as Pineco approached him.

"I've had heartburn before and it suuuuuucks..." Keats said as he stirred the broth before reaching into his bags and pulling out two potatoes and some baby carrots. "Should put some human food in here for me." He thought as he started to throw in the carrots.

"How much izzzz in your bags?" Rotom questioned as it floated over to one of Keats' messenger bags and proceeded to go inside the flap to check.

"I just put stuff in them. What do you think?" Keats said as Rotom popped back out.

"...All I saw was darkness..." Rotom thought with a bewildered expression on its screen.

"Shellder." Keats said as he got up and grabbed the clam-like Pokémon, bringing her closer to the broth. "I don't have any Water type food so here; you can taste test." He said as he took some of the broth that had a small chunk of Nanab Berry on it.

Bringing it down to Shellder, Keats proceeded to let the Water type stretch her wide tongue and lick the contents of the wooden spoon. Her eyes widening, Shellder made a content expression as she liked the taste.

"Good?" Keats asked to his recently caught Water type.

"Shellder! Shellder!" Shellder said with a happy tone as Keats proceeded to grab a tissue and clean off the spoon in case of any of her saliva still being on it.

As Keats cleaned the spoon, the clam-like Pokémon shifted her eyes towards her trainer and noticed a pair of stones sticking out of his pocket, looking at them with intrigue. Specifically at the clear and shiny blue one that reminded Shellder of something.

"Pineco." Pineco said in a complimentary fashion towards Keats.

"Sorry you're still not able to eat with us." Keats said towards Pineco as she shook her body left and right.

"Pineco. Pineco." Pineco said to Keats as he looked at Rotom for a translation.

"Zzzzhe'zzzz thanking you for the effort and concern." Rotom said. "He somehow gets this part of it... Well, he does work on a Pokémon ranch." The phone Pokémon thought as it looked on.

"Okay, now we just let it sit for a moment." Keats said as he put the spoon in the pot, grabbed Shellder and walked back over to his Pokémon. "So... What's our options?" He said as he sat with his face resting on one of his hands after putting the Water type down.

"Pineco." Pineco said as she hopped over as Keats looked at Rotom.

"She is azzzzking about the log." Rotom translated as Timburr sat on the tarp with an upset face as Keats noticed.

"Well... The plan right now is to look for a Psychic type Pokémon, but the odds are not in our favor." Keats said with a headshake. "And it doesn't help the Pokémon here are different from what I know..." He thought with frustration.

"Just because Exeggutor is different doesn't mean we can't find other Pokémon, zzzzt." Rotom stated as Keats looked at the phone as his team ate their meals.

"Then some suggestions would be nice..." Keats said as he laid down on the tarp.

"In this region, the most likely Psychic typezzzz to find are Abra-" Rotom siad until Keats spoke up.

"God no!" Keats exclaimed loudly as his Pokémon looked at him. "I refuse to catch one of those things!" He said as Rotom looked at him.

"Another tale of mizzzzery?" Rotom said with an exasperated expression on its screen.

"Back when I was younger, my school had a field trip to the "Saffron City Museum of Psychic Development" to learn about spiritually sensitive figures throughout history." Keats said as he recalled an event from his childhood. "When we got to the building, we got to see all these people bending spoons with their minds and junk but then one douche kid ends up grabbing an Abra from one of the trainers there and hands it to me." He continued.

"Plus, one of the Snagems had an Abra the night they stole Marie's Pokémon, but I think I know where this is going..." Rotom thought as it continued to listen alongside Keats' other Pokémon.

"The annoying little thing used "Teleport" on me! I wound up back in the school zone several miles away and it teleported back!" Keats exclaimed loudly as some bird-like Pokemon in the trees proceeded to fly out of them. "Whatever teachers were left at the school were like "oh, we can't drive you back there! By the time we get there, everyone will be en route home!" I missed the whole trip!" He continued to whine.

"That doezzzz sounds unfair. Was it the same guy you froze with the Shellder in his backpack?" Rotom asked.

"Huh? No, different kid." Keats said casually as Rotom looked at him.

"You weren't exactly good at making friends when you were younger, were you?" Rotom thought as Keats got up and went back to check on the Berry soup.

"Alright. Looks done, and plenty leftover in case anyone wants some." Keats said as he grabbed a small bowl and a medium-sized bowl.

Pouring some of the soup into the small bowl, Keats proceeded to place the small bowl in front of Shellder, the clam-like Pokémon licking the contents with her wide tongue. Grabbing the medium-sized bowl and pouring some for himself, Keats sat back down with his Pokémon.

"So no to Abras. Exeggutors are Dragon types here." Keats said as he took the wooden spoon from before and used it to eat the Berry soup.

"We could zzzzearch for a more native Pokémon." Rotom said.

"This outta be good..." Keats said with an unenthusiastic expression.

"Firzzzzt, there's Bruxish." Rotom said as it flashed an image of the pink and yellow fish they saw earlier that day.

With squinted eyes of disdain, Keats looked at Rotom with an expression that was screaming "no" at the phone Pokémon.

"Nevermind, zzzzt." Rotom said as its face returned. "Well, there's a Pokémon in Alola called Oricorio we could try looking for but there'zzzz a caveat." The phone Pokémon continued.

"What kind of "caveat?"' Keats said as he stopped eating for a moment.

"Oricorio have a different form depending on location, zzzzt." Rotom said as an image of four different bird-like Pokémon appeared on its screen.

Of the pictures, one creature was of a yellow color with pom-pom-like fluffs on its wings while another was of a red color with dangling appendages resembling earrings on both sides of its head. Another bird-like creature was of a pink-ish color and sporting a white skirt while the last image of an Oricorio was of a blue tint with the ends of its wings appearing like fans.

"And each one hazzzz a different typing as well." Rotom explained.

"Which one would we need?" Keats asked as he looked at the photos as a breeze blew by with some white pollen-like substance floating past.

"The pink one, zzzzpecifically. It's "Pa'u" form." Rotom said.

"Huh. Neat. How do we go about finding- achoo!" Keats said until he stopped to sneeze. "Damn tropical air." He thought as he wiped his nose with his arm. "How do we go about finding one of those... Oricorio, was it?" Keats said.

"...Well... That's another izzzzzzzzue." Rotom said. "Pa'u style Oricorio are native to Akala Island." The phone Pokémon said.

"...Of course, it's on the island I pointed at earlier with the marker board..." Keats thought with annoyance. "Well... What are the other options for native Alolan Psychic types?" He said as he finished his Berry stew, his other Pokémon were finishing up as well.

"The remaining onezzzz are Oranguru and Raichu." Rotom stated.

"What's an Or-... Wait. What was that last one?" Keat said until he overheard something that confused him. "Did you just say "Raichu?"' He said as his Pokémon looked at him.

"Correct, zzzzt." Rotom said.

"...Okay, I am going to ask... It's an Electric type and a Psychic type?" Keats questioned as Druddigon, Stunky and Timburr begun to doze off.

"Correct, zzzzt." Rotom said again.

Flashing an image of a different variant of a Raichu on Rotom's screen, Keats and his team looked forward to view it while starting to nod off. Instead of orange fur, the Alolan form was of a light-ish brown color. Its ears were now rounded as opposed to pointed like its Kantonian form and its paws and toes were white instead of dark brown. But most notably, the long tail it had was under its feet.

"...Okay several things... Why does it look like it's surfing and why does it look like a bread loaf with a pair of cinnamon buns for ears?" Keats said confused. "Haaaa... I'm getting tired." He thought, mentally yawning.

'"Raichu - Alolan Form, the Mouse Pokémon, an Electric and Psychic type. It only evolves to this form in the Alola region. According to researchers, its diet is one of the causes of the change and uses psychokinesis to control its electricity. It hops aboard its own tail and uses its power to ride on it."' Rotom said, reading off the PokéDex entry for Alolan form Raichu as an icon for "low battery" appeared.

"And what's the- haaaa..." Keats said until he stopped talking to yawn, this time out loud. "I'm feeling very... Tired." He said as he wiped his eyes as Shellder coiled her tongue back into her mouth and closed herself off in her shell and Pineco proceeded to roll onto her side on the tarp.

"It izzzz getting late." Rotom said as it noticed its power was running low. "Actually, wait." The phone Pokémon said as it noticed Pineco, Druddigon, Stunky, Shellder and Timburr were all falling asleep. "Guyzzzz?!" Rotom said as it noticed everyone passing out.

"Ugfugh..." Keats mumbled as he fell forward onto his chest, asleep.

"Kea-" Rotom said until the phone Pokémon shut off, descending out of the air and landing on the ground from a lack of power.

With everyone mysteriously unconscious and laying on the ground, three glowing creatures from the woods had emerged and approached them. Two of the creatures appeared like mushrooms with large black eyes with pale white skin and a thin body with three purple caps on its head. The larger of the trio had a purple and yellow mushroom cap as well but was gigantic on its small thin humanoid shape with thin arms, yellow fingertips and small purple pad-like feet.

"Shiishiishii." The humanoid mushroom Pokémon muttered in a chuckling manner.

'"Lullulllull."' The duo of smaller shroom-like Pokémon laughed.

Approaching the unconscious group, the trio of Pokémon proceeded to look around, searching for something. As the two smaller mushroom-like Pokémon wriggled over to Keats' bags, they began rummaging through them and pulling out some of Keats' socks.

"Morelull?" One of the Pokémon said to the other as one of the socks hung off one of the top mushrooms.

"Lullullull!" The other of the two laughed.

"Shii!" The humanoid mushroom exclaimed as to get the pair to stop goofing around before motioning to approach it. "Nottic-shii" The Pokémon continued as they circled around the pot of leftover Berry soup Keats had made.

Reaching into the soup with its hand, the larger mushroom Pokémon had scooped up some of the broth and proceeded to sip up some of the food.

"Shiii!" The Pokémon said with a delighted tone as it nodded towards the other two mushroom Pokémon alongside it.

'"Lull-lull!"' The pair of small shroom-like Pokémon said with a nod as the larger one put its hands on the sides of the pot and lifted it slightly.

Getting on two sides of it, the two smaller shroom-like Pokémon proceeded to assist with carrying the pot of food, heading towards the woods.

"Shiishiishi-Notic?!" The larger mushroom Pokémon laughed until suddenly hearing the sound of rustling from a nearby bush.

Emerging from the darkness of the night was a tall monkey-like Pokémon, similar to an orangutan in appearance. Sporting white fur all over its body with a face, hands and feet of a grey color and hair down its chin like a goatee, it wore a short cloak of a purple color over its shoulders and holding a fan of leaves that was bound with a material matching the cloak around it.

"Uru." The white orangutan-like Pokémon said as it looked at the three mushroom-like Pokémon.

'"Morelull?!"' The two smaller shroom-like Pokémon exclaimed in surprise.

"Shii-shiinot..." The larger shroom-like Pokémon said as it dropped the pot on the ground, running away with the two smaller mushroom Pokémon following behind it.

Watching as they ran away, the white orangutan-like Pokémon approached the pot of food that had spilled out onto the ground. Sticking its finger from its free hand into the spilled broth, the creature raised its finger up to its mouth and licked it to taste it.

"Rangu." The white orangutan-like Pokémon said with a smile as it proceeded to tilt the pot back upright with some of the contents still within it.

Walking back over with the pot to where the portable burner was, the white orangutan-like Pokémon noticed the flame was still lit. Reaching down, it put the pot back on it and then proceeded to move the dial to shut off the burner to prevent a fire. Following this, it went over to where everyone was unconscious and sat down on the tarp, cross-legged.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Route 2, Melemele Island, 7:02 a.m. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

With the sun beginning to rise, the white orangutan-like Pokémon continued to sit with its eyes closed as Keats, Rotom and his Pokémon were still asleep. As the chubby trainer began to stir in his sleep, his eyes started to crack open as he looked up towards the sky.

"Hafhg... Breakfast time?" Keats mumbled as he scratched his head. "How long was I out for?" He thought while getting up slightly and shifting to sitting cross legged.

"Orangu." The white orangutan-like Pokémon said as Keats noticed the unfamiliar voice, turning to look at the Pokémon in front of him.

"Huh?" Keats said in confusion. "Who the heck are you?!" He exclaimed loudly as he jumped to his feet, pointing at the white orangutan-like creature.

"Uru." The white orangutan-like Pokémon said as it pointed its fan at the currently off Rotom phone.

"Eh? Oh, Rotom." Keats said as he walked over to one of his messenger bags, pulled out a portable power bank and cord and hooked it up to Rotom.

"Zzzzt, ah... Keats?" Rotom said as the phone Pokémon turned on, floating upwards with the power bank still connected at the bottom.

"Welcome back to the world of the living." Keats said towards Rotom before turning back to look at the white orangutan-like Pokémon sitting with the rest of Keats' Pokémon. "Everybody, wake up." He said as he approached Pineco and shook the unconscious Bug type awake.

"...Pine?" Pineco said as she started to open her eyes with the white orangutan-like Pokémon approaching Timburr and Shellder to wake them as well.

"Timb?" Timburr muttered in confusion.

"Shellder?" Shellder mumbled.

"Oranguru." The white orangutan-like Pokémon said with a smile as Keats woke up Stunky and Druddigon.

"An Oranguru, zzzzt!" Rotom exclaimed as it looked at the new Pokémon.

"Wait, the other Psychic type?!" Keats exclaimed in surprise as Rotom scanned it for its PokeDex entry.

"Oranguru, the Sage Pokémon, a Psychic and Normal type. Deep in the jungle, high in a lofty canopy, this Pokémon abides. On rare occasions, it shows up at the beach to match wits with Slowkings."' Rotom said, reading off the Dex for Oranguru.

"Oranguru-rururang." Oranguru said.

"What's it saying?" Keats asked as his Pokémon all looked at the Psychic and Normal type.

"It's saying that'zzzz a true analysis." Rotom said.

"How do they match wits? Play chess with washed up rocks?" Keats thought with a raised eyebrow. "Actually... Wait, this is perfect!" He exclaimed as everyone looked at him. "We needed a Psychic type Pokémon and it came straight to us!" Keats said as he pulled out one of his regular Pokéballs from his bag.

Pulling back his arm and throwing the ball at the Oranguru, the orangutan-like Pokemon raised his free hand and caught the ball in mid throw to the surprise of everyone. Flipping the ball over, Oranguru stood up and imitated Keats by pitching the ball back at him, nailing him in the forehead.

"Gah!" Keats grunted in pain as he held his forehead. "What the heck was that?!" He exclaimed in a frustrated tone.

"It grabbed the ball and threw it back, zzzzt!" Rotom said.

"I know that! I was the one hit in the head!" Keats screamed in anger. "Hey, come on. We need your help." He said as he pulled out another Pokéball.

"Orangu." Oranguru said bluntly.

"It zzzzaid "no."' Rotom translated.

"Why not!?" Keats exclaimed.

"Orangurururu." Oranguru said as he pointed at Rotom, causing Keats and his Pokemon to turn to look at the phone.

"It wantzzzz me to look more at its Dex entries." Rotom said with a surprised tone. '"Known for its extreme intelligence, Oranguru are known to look down on inexperienced trainers, so it's best suited to veterans."' The phone Pokémon said, reading more on Oranguru.

"It's so smart it even knows its own PokéDex entries?! Wait... "Inexperienced?!"' Keats thought in shock.

"Orangururu-rangrang. Orangrururu." Oranguru said as it pointed its fan at the pot of Berry stew.

"It zzzzayzzzz to check the soup." Rotom said as Keats, Druddigon and Timburr walked over to the pot.

"Hey, what happened to the soup!? Nobody had any leftovers!" Keats exclaimed with the others looking in surprise at the decreased amount of food in the pot. "Was this your doing?!" He shouted angrily towards Oranguru as it shook its head with a disappointed look on its face.

"It doesn't look like it, zzzzt." Rotom said.

"Liar! Stunky, "Fury Swipes!" Druddigon, "Dragon Tail!" Timburr, "Poison Jab!"' Keats exclaimed as his Pokémon jumped up, ready to attack the orangutan-like Pokémon.

Its eyes glowing blue and glowing an aura of a matching color, Oranguru proceeded to lift up its hand in front of Keats' Pokémon. Suddenly, a ton of pressure started to be felt by Keats, Rotom, Pineco and all of Keats' other Pokémon, aside from Stunky as its Dark typing was unaffected by Psychic type moves, forcing everyone to the ground as it felt like gravity was starting crush them as Stunky looked around at everyone.

"Gaaahh!" Keats exclaimed in pain.

"It'zzzz Oranguru's "Psychic!"' Rotom screamed as it began to feel like it was being crushed inside the phone.

"Stunky! Do something!" Keats said while everyone was downed.

"Stunk-" Stunky said with a nod until he looked up at Oranguru, it glaring at Stunky and causing the Dark and Poison type to suddenly pass wind in fear.

'"Gah!"' Keats and his other Pokémon exclaimed in frustration as Stunky's fart cloud went all over the group.

"Oranguru." Oranguru said with a dominant tone as it continued to use "Psychic" to increase the gravity around everyone.

"Sto-stop!" Keats screamed as Oranguru put down its hand, looking down at the husky trainer, still sporting the disappointed look in its eyes.

"Oranguru. Rangurangrang-oru." Oranguru said as the intense gravity dissipated over everyone.

"It... Zzzzaid... It was watching over us after a Shiinotic and some Morelull tried to zzzzteal our food." Rotom translated.

"It... Was helping us?" Keats thought as he got up to his hands and knees off the ground.

"Orangururu. Rangrangrang." Oranguru said.

"What now?" Keats asked towards Rotom as Keats' Pokémon all stirred in pain.

"It's saying that it has no interezzzzt in being caught by any trainer. And that it was watching us because our stuff might have gotten taken if it didn't intervene." Rotom said.

"Ugh..." Keats grumbled as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Fine, sorry for throwing a ball at you." He said as he put his hands up in a fearful manner towards the powerful Psychic and Normal type.

"Oranguru." Oranguru said.

"It said your apology is zzzzufficient but it's leaving." Rotom translated.

"Works for me! This thing nearly destroyed my spine!" Keats thought as he started to get back to his feet, his hand behind his back where it hurt.

"Oranguru." Oranguru said as it turned around and began to walk away.

"Whoa, wait!" Keats exclaimed, stopping the orangutan-like Pokemon. "We need help." He said as he got in front of Oranguru.

"Orang." Oranguru said as it waved its fan, motioning for Keats to move out of the way.

"We need a Psychic type Pokémon-" Keats said until Oranguru started to glow blue once more, readying "Psychic" once again. "We-we need a Psychic type to help us find some things! That's it!" He said as he cowered back slightly from the Oranguru.

"Raaaaang..." Oranguru mumbled as it stroked its chin.

"Pineco." Pineco said as she hopped over to Keats' side. "Pinecococo-pine. Pinecoco-pinepine." The Bug type said towards Oranguru.

"Rangurang?" Oranguru said with a raised eyebrow.

"Pinecoco." Pineco said as she looked towards Timburr with Oranguru doing the same.

"...Rang." Oranguru said with a nod as it proceeded to walk towards the pot of Berry soup. "Orangranguru." The Psychic and Normal type said as it pointed at the food as Keats walked over to Rotom.

"Translation?" Keats whispered.

"Pineco told Oranguru the whole zzzztory. Oranguru got curious and they both looked at Timburr. Oranguru said it might help if we give it the pot of Berry soup." Rotom explained.

"The whole thing?! You've got to be-" Keats said, ready to complain until he looked at Oranguru, glaring at him. "...Okay, you can have it." He said with his body shaking in a cowardly manner.

Upon seeing this, Oranguru proceeded to nod as it took the pot of food and proceeded to walk over to a tree, tearing off some branches from a different tree and covered over it to hide it. Keats, watching the orangutan-like Pokémon hide the food, proceeded take out his Pokéballs and recalled all of his Pokémon.

"Rangu." Oranguru said as Keats looked at it.

"It's saying to tear down your tent and then follow it, zzzzt." Rotom explained as Keats made an uncomfortable expression.

"...A Pokémon is telling me what to do, the heck is my life right now?" Keats thought as he walked over to his tent and begun to disassemble the camp.

Walking along the sand, Keats and Rotom followed behind Oranguru as the Psychic and Normal type Pokémon looked around at the ground. Stopping in the middle of the beach, the orangutan-like Pokémon looked down at the ground as it closed its eyes.

"Well... Here's where we were yesterday." Keats said as Rotom floated next to him.

"It's progress, at least..." Rotom thought.

"Orangurururur..." Oranguru said as its body started to glow a blue aura once more, Keats standing further back out of fear of its power.

Opening its now glowing eyes, Oranguru looked down at the ground and a mental image of an indentation in the ground formed in its head. Examining the sand, the orangutan-like Pokémon looked over to notice an invisible trail only it could see that appeared like a wide dragging line as it proceeded to follow it with Keats and Rotom following behind.

"Where's it taking us now? This is the opposite direction of where we went searching for Pyukumuku." Keats said.

"No clue, zzzzt." Rotom replied.

"Oranguru." Oranguru said as it stopped and pointed its fan upward towards a set of palm trees with some coconuts in it.

"Huh?" Keats muttered as he looked up at the trees. "Those Exeggcutor?" He questioned.

"No, they're normal palm treezzzz." Rotom said.

"...I've spent so much time here, I'm starting to get the two mixed up." Keats thought as he put his hands on his head.

"Rangrang." Oranguru said as it pointed to the top of one of the palm trees as Rotom and Keats looked up.

Sitting on the very top of one of the palm trees was a small koala-like Pokémon with blue fur all over and its eyes shut. Upon seeing this Pokémon, Keats and Rotom's eyes widened as they noticed a familiar looking squared log that it was holding, its arms and legs wrapped around it.

"There it is!" Keats exclaimed.

"A Komala took it thizzzz whole time?!" Rotom said in similar shock.

"Oranguru." Oranguru said with a nod.

'"Komala, the Drowsing Pokémon, a Normal type. It is born asleep, and it dies asleep. All its movements are apparently no more than the results of it tossing and turning in its dreams."' Rotom said as it read off the PokéDex entry for Komala from its database.

"It's always asleep? Every moment of its life?" Keats questioned. "Wait... Does that mean it was sleepwalking when it took Timburr's log off the ground?!" He exclaimed.

"Most likely, zzzzt." Rotom replied.

"Hey you little klepto! Give us back Timburr's log!" Keats screamed.

"You're one to talk, Keatzzzz..." Rotom said as Keats ran at the tree and put his arms around it.

Shaking the tree with all the force he could muster; Keats caused the Komala who was clutching the log to fall out of the tree and onto the sand.

"Gotcha, you sleepy bastard!" Keats exclaimed loudly as he put one hand on the log. "Guh! Guh! Come on!" He grunted in frustration as the perpetually asleep Komala refused to let go.

While still pulling on the log, the Komala proceeded to loosen one hand from the log and made a small fist, punching Keats in his right wrist.

"Ouch!" Keats exclaimed as he clutched his right wrist with his left hand.

"That wazzzz "Sucker Punch!"' Rotom said loudly.

"Oh, it does it want to get punched in the face too!? I'm happy to oblige the little thief!" Keats exclaimed in anger as Oranguru shook its head with a clearly unimpressed expression.

"Oranguru." Oranguru said as Keats looked at the orangutan-like Pokémon.

"Wh-what's it want?" Keats said in a slightly fearful tone.

"It zzzzayzzzz to stand back." Rotom translated as Keats took a step away from Komala.

With its body glowing blue once more, Oranguru proceeded to use "Psychic" once again. Telekinetically, Oranguru separated a part of one of the palm trees from its side but without felling the tree. Raising its hand to manipulate the portion it had ripped off, Oranguru proceeded to use its psychic powers to create a replica log, matching the one in Komala's grasp.

"Whoa." Keats said, amazed.

Using its powers, Oranguru proceeded to lift the log in Komala's grasp out and shifted the new one made from the palm tree into its hold. Still asleep, Komala didn't seem to notice or care as it continued to still sleep while holding a new piece of wood. As Keats grabbed the log that was floating from Oranguru's powers, Komala proceeded to roll away down the beach with the new log.

"We got the log back!" Keats exclaimed happily as he pulled out Timburr's Pokéball. "Yo, check it out!" He said as he opened the ball to let out his Fighting type.

"Timb?" Timburr said as he emerged and turned towards Keats. "Timburr! Timb-timb!" The Fighting type exclaimed happily as Keats handed him his missing log.

"We finally found it, zzzzt!" Rotom exclaimed in a similarly happy manner.

"Oh, thank god!" Keats said loudly. "Our biggest problem is finally over! We can go home now!" He said as he recalled Timburr to his ball.

"Yeah, we can-... Wait... Keatzzzz." Rotom said until remembering. "What about the Snagems?" The phone Pokémon said as Keats made a face of sudden realization.

"...Oh yeah..." Keats said embarrassingly as he looked over at Oranguru, who was preparing to walk away. "Hold on a minute, Oranguru!" He said as he ran ahead to cut off the Psychic and Normal type Pokémon. "Excuse me but you wouldn't be interested in helping us further, would you?" Keats said with a cautiously optimistic tone and his hands clasped like a begger.

"Orang." Oranguru said bluntly.

"...I take that as a "no?"' Keats said towards Rotom.

"Yezzzz." Rotom replied as Keats hung his head in shame.

"Of course..." Keats said sullenly.

"Hey!" An unfamiliar male voice shouted as Keats looked back and Oranguru and Rotom looked on.

Approaching the group was a muscular teenager with dark skin. With black and red hair that looked like a flame, he had a set of tribal style shoulder tattoos and was wearing a black and yellow necklace, red swim trunks and red sandals.

"Is this yours?!" The teen said with an angered tone as he lifted something in his hand in the face of Keats.

"...Oh..." Keats said embarrassingly as he noticed what he had.

In front of Keats was the sign board he had the prior day that he wrote "Alola Sucks" on it over a poorly drawn image of the four islands of the Alola region and a stick figure of a girl. Despite being partially faded from him wiping it down slightly, the "Alola Sucks" he wrote on it was still moderately legible.

"You have a problem with Alola, buddy?!" The muscular teenager said.

"Well, it's not so much here as the tropics in general but-" Keats said until he was cut off as the teen threw down the sign onto the sand.

"Lifeguard told me some big guy was causing problems on the beach yesterday, throwing a sign board and glaring at the kids throwing Pyukumuku back in the water. You definitely fit the bill." The muscular teen said.

"...Well..." Keats said, unsure of how to create an excuse for such a true description of his previous day.

"Nobody insults Alola or they answer to me, pal!" The teen said in agitation as he pulled out a Pokéball. "As a future Island Kahuna, I won't accept anyone speaking ill about this region without a battle following it!" He said as he pointed the ball at Keats.

"Whoa, hold on kid, I was just-" Keats said, trying to calm down the younger and hotheaded male picking a fight with him.

"It's Kiawe! Now bring it on!" The teen said, introducing himself.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire!... And yes, I am saying that as I know who this guy who challenged Keats is. A trip into the woods proved fruitless as Keats' inability to handle the differences between Alolan Pokémon and the Pokémon he is more familiar with left him just wanting to rest. After cooking a meal for his Pokémon pals and then getting knocked out by a roving band of Shiinotic and Morelull, the team woke up to meet an extremely intelligent Oranguru. After a trade, Keats managed to finally find Timburr's log from a wild Komala who sleepwalked over to the piece of wood and took it. But one wall is down, and another is built up in front of it as Keats' negative opinion of the tropics have rubbed a patriotic local the wrong way. Next time on Wannabe! It's Keats vs Kiawe!

Keats' Pokémon:
1. Pineco.
2. Timburr.
3. Druddigon.
4. Stunky.
5. Shellder.

Authors Note: (This is officially the LONGEST chapter I have written for this Pokémon story in terms of word count. There was one chapter I wrote in my Fairy Tail fanfic, Menagerie, that was longer than this one.)
