"Emergency guy meeting! Emergency guy meeting," announced Jun Pyo.
Yi Jeong and Woo Bin were playing pool in the F4 game room. They turned their heads on hearing the Shinwa heir's voice.
"What happened, Jun Pyo? This isn't about your homemade potpourri again, is it?"
"No, no…One of our own is in great peril. We must help him."
"Bro, I think he knows about you and Ga Eul," nudged Woo Bin.
"Jun Pyo, Ga Eul and I are not a couple."
"You and Ga Eul? Where did you get that from? I was talking about Ji Hoo."
"I don't know, because Woo Bin here keeps filling your head with ridiculous ideas. Wait, did you say Ji Hoo?"
Jun Pyo began to narrate the incident that had him so excited. He walked into the porridge shop with Ji Hoo. He wasn't a big fan of this place but Ji Hoo liked the food here. He looked around for the comfiest looking chairs and settled for the table in the back. After waiting more than an hour, instead of bringing him his food, the waitress brought the finger bowl instead. Jun Pyo wanted to talk to the manager about this. They hadn't even eaten and the waitress already wanted them to leave. Moreover, he had seen how hard Jan Di worked and it didn't seem fair that their other employees could slack off like this. When he mentioned this to Ji Hoo, his friend told him that it wasn't such a big deal and then continued to watch the waitress walk back with such tenderness in his eyes. When she returned with their real order, Ji Hoo told her in the sweetest voice he had ever heard him use, to not worry about it. On finishing his story, he turned to Yi Jeong and Woo Bin. They didn't look as shocked as he had hoped.
"Who was the girl?"
"I don't know. I was too busy looking at my finger bowl the first time and at Ji Hoo's face the next." Jun Pyo put his hand on his chin.
"Can you remember anything about the girl?" asked Woo Bin.
"Well, she was Korean. But then again I can't be sure about her country of origin."
This earned him a scoff from both the boys. They then proceeded to walk away.
"You guys can't leave like this. We have to figure this out." Jun Pyo chased after them. "Hold on. I have something."
"We are listening."
"They don't have many waitresses there. I can identify most of them easily. Jan Di had mentioned that a new girl had joined recently. It was probably her."
Both the boys placed one arm on each of Jun Pyo's shoulder. "So…," said Woo Bin.
"Tell us exactly what happened," finished Yi Jeong.
"I told you everything."
"You can't remember anything else? He was just staring at her. That doesn't tell us much."
"But Woo Bin, Ji Hoo is not the kind of guy who randomly stares at waitresses," Jun Pyo responded.
"No, he is just the kind of guy who makes out with people in McDonalds' play area," chuckled Yi Jeong.
"I don't think we will get anything useful from him," Woo Bin whispered to Yi Jeong. The duo made their way to the lounge.
"Hey! That's not very nice. I am useful!" Jun Pyo chased after them. "Come back, what are you whispering about?"

Ga Eul had just finished cleaning up the porridge shop. She gathered her stuff and got ready to leave. The shop was empty so she didn't think the master would mind her leaving early. However, when she made her way to the door, an unusual sight greeted her. A well-dressed man was seated in the corner. He was looking around the place with his judgmental eyes as if mentally grading the place and the grade did not seem good. He waved her over. On approaching the table, Yi Jeong's father was staring back at her.
"Hello, miss. Mind taking a seat?" Ga Eul took the seat in front of him. He was looking at her as if he was testing her for a test that had already been rigged, it was making her uneasy.
"Hello Mr. So...Can I get you anything?"
"No, that won't be necessary. Do you know why I'm here?" Ga Eul gestured no with her head. "I guess I will get straight to the point then. I'm sure both of us have things to do so there is no point in wasting time. I have noticed that you and my son have become quite close."
"Yi Jeong and I are good friends."
"Yes. Friendship is good… but you have to understand that as the heir to the So foundation Yi Jeong has certain expectations he is expected to live up to. Frolicking through town playing paintball is hardly an activity suitable for a man of his stature. As a friend, I'm sure you will understand that acting in certain ways and associating with certain people can damage his future. I expect you to act in his best interest."
This earned him a smile from Ga Eul. "Yi Jeong is an intelligent and mature young man. I'm sure he won't do anything damaging to his future." She flashed him another smile and got up from her seat. "Please excuse me, I have some urgent business."

Once Yi Jeong and Woo Bin managed to lose Jun Pyo, they began looking for Ji Hoo.
"It's probably nothing, Woo Bin. Probably just one of Jun Pyo's crazy ideas."
"I don't know. Jae did tell me that the girls think that Ji Hoo is the hottest F4 member. Kind of offensive if you ask me."
"The girls discussed it? That was their collective verdict?"
"Don't worry bro, I'm sure that Ga Eul put up a good fight but Jae Kyung and Jan Di could just not be persuaded." Yi Jeong glared at him. "Look, there is Ji Hoo, sleeping in the kitchen."
"Well, he was up all night studying for that big test he had. It's a well-deserved nap."
"Yeah, he did look tired," agreed Woo Bin. He then dropped a plate to the floor. "Oops. Oh well, now he is awake." This earned him a murderous look from Ji Hoo.

"The toes must feel so offended. There are individual names for fingers but all the toes are just grouped together as toes. Like they don't matter," Woo Bin told Jae Kyung.
He had come to pick her up from the porridge shop for lunch. Normally, just the thought of food would cheer Jae up but today she was unusually distracted. She had her head downcast and was hardly participating in the conversation. It had been ten minutes and she hadn't even opened her lunch box.
"Jae, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, I'm fine. Why would you think there is something wrong?"
"You haven't even opened your lunchbox and haven't been paying attention to a word I have been saying." This caused her to look up. She gave him an apologetic smile. "And Jun Pyo told me that you served him a finger bowl for lunch today. He thinks Ji Hoo is in love with you, by the way."
"I'm not use to working and attending class at the same time. Actually, I'm not use to attending class at all." She put her palm on her head. "I didn't pack myself lunch. I felt guilty." She looked exhausted and a little upset. Woo Bin guessed that she was a little disappointed in herself. He reached over and gave her hand a squeeze.
"How about you take a few hours off and nap. I'll pick you up at seven."
"At seven?"
"Yeah, the dinner at Ga Eul's house." Ga Eul had called him just before he had come to see Jae Kyung to invite the entire F4 to her house for dinner. Woo bin thought it was a bit strange but he was never one to turn down a good opportunity to tease Yi , her parents were out of town for the weekend. So it would not get awkward.
_oOo_
Jun Pyo and Jan Di were the first to arrive. Jun Pyo had to attend another party with his mother. So he couldn't stay long. He dropped off Jan Di, thanked Ga Eul for inviting him, gave her a bouquet of flowers and left. The next to arrive were Yi Jeong, Woo Bin, Jae Kyung, and Woo Bin's bodyguards. Woo Bin did not seem pleased with this arrangement.
"I told you that I was going to Ga Eul's house. She is one small person, what did you think she would do?" questioned Woo Bin.
"We are just doing our jobs, young Master," replied Mr. Young.
"Do you have to follow me everywhere?"
"No, we choose to do it. It's the highlight of our day." On hearing this sarcastic reply, Woo bin just walked away.
After getting a handful of cookies from the kitchen, he approached his bodyguards and asked, "So, do you want to eat, or what?"
"Sunbae," Ga Eul chastised. She gave his bodyguards an embarrassed smile. "You are welcome to join us for dinner."
"It's quite alright, Miss."
Since Ga Eul was busy setting the plate, Woo Bin joined Yi Jeong on the couch.
"Bro, I have been thinking. What happened to the sanctity of friendship?" asked Yi Jeong.
"What do you mean?"
"You are going to let a girl you have known for a few months ruin a friendship you have cherished since you were six? Be a friend. Step aside and let Ji Hoo have her."
"Ji Hoo already said that Jun Pyo was being crazy. And ask for Jae, I don't know what you are talking about."
"Ji Hoo is being strong. Hiding his pain for the sake of friendship. Don't let him sacrifice his love in the alter of friendship."
Luckily for Woo Bin, at that very moment, Ga Eul called them all to eat as Ji Hoo had finally arrived.
"Hey Ga Eul, I ran into Ji Min on my way over here," said Jae Kyung as she dug into her pot roast, "he asked about you."
On hearing this, both Yi Jeong and Jan Di looked up from their plate.
"Ji Min," Jan Di grunted. She dug her fork in her food as if she was trying to kill it.
"Jan Di-ah," Ga Eul laughed.
"I take it that he is not Jan Di's favorite person," deduced Jae Kyung.
"Jan Di and he always had a strange relationship…ever since we were five."
"And he had asked you out," her best friend grunted.
Ga Eul smiled at the memory. "We went on a picnic. I had fun. It may have been a little awkward for Ji Min though, since Ja Di was staring at him the whole time."
"Jan Di, you went on their date? That's creepy," commented Woo Bin.
"Hey! He is the five year old who went on a date and I'm creepy?"
"Oh, that was your first date? Cool. I still remember mine. It was with Park Shin-hye, the hottest baby with the sexiest diapers," announced Woo Bin.
"That so did not happen," commented Yi Jeong.
"Oh please, like you had a chance with Park Shin-hye."
"How can diapers be sexy?" asked Ji Hoo.
"She looked hot while wearing them."
"Sunbae, that's creepy, she was a baby," said Jan Di.
"So was I."
"That was not your first date."
"Fine, Yi Jeong, since you insist on ruining a perfect first date story, I'll tell you guys the real one. My first date was with a Ukrainian exchange student I had met in eighth grade. She had to return before we could have our date," he heaved a sigh, "So, we ended up having our date over skype. Both of us had to use interpreters as there was a language barrier."
Yi Jeong started at him, "That also didn't happen."
"Fine. I had met her during detention. Her name was Kiaraa. We bonded while we were trying to escape," Woo Bin moved his fork around in circles and smiled, "She climbed on my shoulders to open the top window latch. We both got out from there."
"Song Woo Bin, you let her climb your shoulders without a fuss?" Jae Kyung gave him a cheeky grin. "Must have really liked her."
Woo Bin had the grace to look embarrassed.
After an uncomfortable pause, he continued, "Anyway, our date got ruined because she had got trash pick- up. I didn't want to postpone it. So we spend our first date picking up trash together."
"Sunbae, that's so sweet," remarked Ga Eul.
"Sweet, and untrue, that was your second date with her."
"Yi Jeong, why must you always contradict me? Fine, my first date was with the same girl. I was excited. I had booked us a table at a fancy restaurant. Everything would have been perfect, but on my way to her house, a pick-pocket stole my wallet. The worse part was that I didn't notice until after the dinner. I looked like a real fool. She had to pay for the whole thing."
"What about you, Yi Jeong? When was your first date?" asked Ga Eul.
Yi Jeong gulped down some water. "My first date was when I was six. My brother had finally managed to ask his crush out. Unfortunately, on the day of the date, her parents went out and left her to care for her little sister. So we ended up going on a double date. We all went to see Monsters Inc. I got to eat popcorn and ice-cream. Overall, not a bad day, even if the girl ate most of my popcorn. It was okay. We were kids so nothing out of the ordinary. We just watched the movie and went back home."
Yi Jeong adjusted his tie, and fixed his tucked shirt. Then he shifted his attention towards his sushi.
Observing Yi Jeong who was fiddling with his food and had now lost the ability to use chopsticks, Woo Bin decided to cut through the tension, "What about you, Jan Di?"
Jan Di pressed her hands on her napkin and smiled shyly. The F3 were not use to seeing this side of her.
"My first date was with Jun Pyo. He wanted to take me to Paris, but I refused to go. So we ended up going to the N Seoul tower. We just sat there for hours, eating cup-noodles and talking."
"Jan Di," interrupted Woo Bin, "that was your second date. Your real first date was with a farm boy. You met him on a school trip. You knew you had something special when he taught you how to churn butter. You had your first date on a tractor. He held your hand and taught you how to yodel."
"Why a farm boy, just because I'm poor?" glared Jan Di.
"No… I mean… I thought…Ji Hoo, you say things now."
"My first date was with this girl I had met at the library. She was a little reserved. So, to woo her I joined her dance class. We spent our first date doing the rain dance on her roof," he took another bite of the pasta and completely ignored the faces staring at him. " She was really into Native American culture. The food is lovely, Ga Eul."
"Yoon Ji Hoo, you are a mystery to me," commented Woo Bin. "What about you?" he asked Jae Kyung.
"I was fifteen. I met the guy in my foreign language class. We danced around each other the entire semester, at the end of the semester potluck, he asked me out. He took me to see a Spanish opera."
"Opera? At fifteen? Talk about pretentious," commented Woo Bin, while waving his fork in the air.
"It wasn't too bad. The lady had a sweet voice and I had fun making up what the characters were saying."
"Noona, I waited patiently for you to finish dinner. Now move your tea party to your room. I want to play video games," complained Chin Hae.
"Wait, he isn't allowed on the internet but is allowed to play video games?" asked Yi Jeong.
Both the Chu siblings gave Yi Jeong a look: One of confusion and the other of admonition.
Once the party had left, Chin Hae returned with his Xbox only to find some strange men eating on the table. On closer inspection, they looked like bodyguards. Their eyes met for a second, an indecisive second in which Chin Hae considered leaving. That thought passed away quickly.
"I have an extra controller. Any of you want to play?" The men did not seem interested.

"Aww, you framed that picture," said Woo Bin while picking up the picture frame containing a photo of Ga Eul and the gang at the F4 lounge.
While Woo Bin was observing the photo, Jae Kyung was admiring the poster above Ga Eul's bed.
"Who is that?" she asked.
Ga Eul walked over to her. Resting her hand on the bedpost, she answered, "He is Chef Piero Alfrid Lee- a culinary prodigy." Her eyes gleamed with admiration, "He invented four new recipes by the time he was seven . At the age of fourteen, he was already making a name for himself. He is so young, you know? My age but he is already believed to be one of the most successful chefs in the world. Eating something made by him is a real honor."
"I didn't know you were interested in cooking," remarked Jae Kyung.
"Going by how tasty your cookies are, I can believe it," commented Woo Bin.
"Ga Eul actually wanted to be a chef when she was younger. Oh my god, look at the time. We better get going. Thanks for dinner, Ga Eul. It was delicious, as always," informed Jan Di.
"I'll get you your coats," said Ga Eul.
They started to vacate the room, one after the other, following Ga Eul to her coat rack,
unknowingly leaving Yi Jeong behind. He had his arms folded and was looking at the aforementioned poster. After a few minutes had passed, he could hear faint voices of Woo Bin and Ga Eul calling out his name, bringing him out of his trance.
"Yi Jeong, we're leaving. You're coming with us, right?" asked Woo Bin.
"Here's your coat Yi Jeong. You're welcome to stay if you want to. You too Woo Bin sunbae."
Snapping back to reality, and taking two steps back, he walked towards Ga Eul and took his coat from her hands. Taking one last glance at Ga Eul, he swung his coat behind his shoulder, walked towards Woo Bin, and answered, "Yeah, I'm coming."

Mr. So entered his son's house. It had been a while since he had come here. He spent most of his days travelling the world. He didn't come home that often. However, today he had some important matters to discuss. He found his wife in the parlor, reading a book. It took a while for her to notice his presence. She tightened her hands around her book. Perhaps she was nervous.
"How are you doing my dear? I came to see you at the hospital. You were asleep."
"I'm fine."
He took the seat next to her. "Are you well?" She nodded but did not let go of her book.
He continued to look around the room. It was well decorated.
"My dear, I wanted to talk to you about our son." That got her attention. She put down the book and looked directly at him. "I fear he has gotten into some bad company," he continued.
"I know Woo Bin isn't the most sophisticated person, but he has a good heart."
"I wasn't talking about him. There is this girl he has taken a fancy to. She is pretty, but is not someone of high social standing, and she is a real distraction."
His wife took a moment to answer, as if she was choosing her words, "Our son is a responsible young man. I'm sure he'll be fine."
"He is completely stubborn when it comes to her. I even went to talk to her but she told me, in the sweetest of tone, that she has no intention of putting a stop to this. Yi Jeong listens to you. Talk some sense into him."
"As you wish." Mrs. So stared off into the distance with a look her husband had never seen before- a look of determination.
