Hello everyone! This is my first attempt at a longer fanfic. I don't fully know where it's going quite yet. But it will definitely be several chapters. It's an AU, but barley. Here's what's different: 1)Mamoru already knows that Usagi is Sailor Moon (he caught her transforming and he brought a passed-out Sailor Moon back to his apartment, like in the manga), but Usagi has no idea who Tuxedo Kamen is. 2)Usagi and Mamoru have already had a first kiss and are almost "dating". 3)Mamoru has his healing powers!
Maybe someday I'll write a prequel to this story if you guys are interested! Please let me know what you think! I stopped writing years ago and I didn't realize how much I've missed it until I decided to write some of my Sailor Moon fantasies down! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
This story starts with the events of the original anime episode 33 "Sailor V Makes the Scene". Chapter One follows basically the same story, but chapter two on will deviate!
Chapter One – Sailor Venus
"How dare that cheap Sailor knock-off steal my look," Sailor Moon fumed.
"Calm down, Odango Atama," Mars said putting her hand on Sailor Moon's shoulder. "We'll figure this out. No one would fall for that Sailor fake anyway. Let's go. Whoever's responsible for this is around here somewhere."
How did she get herself caught? Tuxedo Kamen stared up at the blonde, currently strung up by her wrists. This is obviously some sort of trap. For me? Or for the Sailor Scouts? He leapt from the closest shipping container, wrapped his arms around Sailor Moon and cut her from her restraints with his cane.
Kunzite smiled as he watched Tuxedo Kamen free their decoy. Everything was going according to plan and soon this world would be covered in beautiful darkness. Lightning streaked across the sky revealing a small girl in a fuku below him. His smile grew.
"How dare you treat that fake Sailor Moon so poorly! I, Sailor Moon, will punish you in the name of the Moon!" Three more girls joined her.
"As will I, Sailor Mercury!"
"Sailor Mars!"
"Sailor Jupiter!"
Kunzite let out a deep laugh, "I've been waiting for you Sailor brats! I am Kunzite, one the four Kings of Heaven, General of the Dark Kingdom. Sailor Soldiers, prepare to meet your doom!"
Suddenly, a dark bubble of crackling energy appeared all around the scouts. Sailor Moon felt Sailor Mars move closer to her side as Sailor Mercury turned on her visor.
"This doesn't look good," Mercury said as she cautiously moved closer to the wall. Sailor Moon looked to Sailor Mars, who gave her a small smile.
"Mars Fire Soul!" Impressive flames erupted from the raven-haired scout's fingertips and were harmlessly absorbed into the wall of darkness. Mar's eyes grew wide as she stared helplessly into the void.
"Jupiter Supreme Thunder!" A blast of powerful lightning slammed into the wall and looked like it might break through before it too was absorbed by the impenetrable wall. "What gives? Mercury, will any of our attacks work against this thing?"
"I…I don't know," Mercury said as she moved closer to Sailor Moon.
Kunzite's laughter broke through the sound of the crackling wall, "Is that all the power you have Sailor Soldiers?" He raised his arms and the bubble began to shrink. Sailor Moon's eyes widened as she felt the scouts press in closer to her. Where is Tuxedo Kamen? she wondered.
Tuxedo Kamen broke the bindings on Sailor Moon's wrists and tried waking her. "Sailor Moon?" Suddenly he felt a spike of fear that wasn't his own. Usagi? It felt just like when Sailor Moon called to him. He turned to look back the way they had come from. Usagi needed him. But she was right here. Suddenly he felt a blinding pain in his shoulder as he was stabbed from behind. He fell to his knees trying to reach the blade only to feel it sizzle as it disintegrated. He turned to look at who he had thought was Sailor Moon to see green eyes staring back at him.
"Who are you?"
"Why Tuxedo Kamen, I'm Sailor Moon!" the imposter's voice became lower and garbled, "Your greatest weakness." The fake Sailor Moon's features began to change until Zoisite stood in her place and let out a horrible high-pitched laugh. "Why Tuxedo Kamen, I do believe I have you at a disadvantage. Hand over your rainbow crystals, now."
"I don't think so, Zoisite. You'll have to kill me."
"Why dear Tuxedo Kamen, that's the plan!" Zoisite raised his hand and a blast of sharp pink flower petals flew toward Tuxedo Kamen, who managed to dodge just in time. The masked hero ducked out of sight into a maze of shipping containers.
"Supreme Thunder!"
"Fire Soul!"
Both attacks were absorbed instantly. Sailor Moon felt her heart speed up yet again. What were they going to do? Was this how it would end? She never wanted any of this. She just wanted a normal life. A normal life with Mamoru. She never even told him how she felt. Not really. He had become the best thing in her life. The most normal, and now she would just disappear. No. "Moon Tiara Magic!" Her tiara clanged against the barrier and fell dead at her feet.
"Give up, Sailor Soldiers!" Kunzite raised his hands again and the barrier inched closer.
Tuxedo Kamen ran as fast as he could toward Sailor Moon's pull, dodging Zoisite's attacks along the way. When he came to a dead end and tried to jump onto some crates, Zoisite met him halfway sword raised. Tuxedo Kamen had no choice but to take a stand. He blocked Zoisite's advances with his cane, each parry sending a jolt of pain to his shoulder. Zoisite laughed triumphantly as he managed to shove Tuxedo Kamen to the ground knocking off the hero's hat and mask. Mamoru looked back at Zoisite with rage filled eyes. He needed to get to Usagi. She was frantic. He stopped Zoisite's sword only a few inches from his chest. He didn't have time for this!
"Crescent Beam!"
A laser-like blast of yellow light shot at Zoisite's sword arm causing him to fall back in pain and give Mamoru the chance he needed. He quickly replaced his mask and ran toward Sailor Moon.
We're going to die. She knew it in her bones. This was always going to be how this ended. No amount of training could prevent this. She felt the girls taking shallow breaths all around her. She could just make out Kunzite on the other side of their certain death. Zoisite was suddenly beside him. He looked angry.
"What do you mean you let Tuxedo Mask escape!" Kunzite growled.
"It's not my fault! Another soldier showed up, but don't worry. Tuxedo Kamen can't have gone far. Not while we have Sailor Moon.
"Tuxedo Kamen," Zoisite yelled. "You're about to witness the final moments of the Sailor Soldiers! Unless you'd like to hand over the rainbow crystals?"
Tuxedo Kamen? He's here? Usagi brighten for a moment before realizing the truth. He'll be dead along with the rest of us. He can't die. "No, Tuxedo Kamen," she screamed. "Don't give in to them."
As Tuxedo Kamen listened to her plea, he couldn't help but love her more. She didn't understand. He couldn't let her die. He'd do anything. Sacrifice anything. His heart almost stopped as he heard her give out a bone chilling scream.
The barrier had finally made contact with the scouts. It felt like hell. Every part of Sailor Moon's body was in agony. She felt Sailor Mars grab her hand and she squeezed back with all the energy she could. One by one the scouts were brought to their knees until only Sailor Moon remained standing. She opened her eyes to glare coldly at Kunzite as she yelled "Don't come out Tuxedo Kamen. Run! Please!"
Tuxedo Kamen watched, his heart breaking, as she struggled to remain standing. He stepped out of the shadows the second she fell to the ground.
"Zoisite," he called as he reached for the rainbow crystals.
"Crescent Beam!"
The same laser-like blast of light cut across Kunzite's hands and the dark barrier shattered into nothingness.
"Kunzite!" Zoisite cried out. "Let's go." The two generals teleported away.
Sailor Moon looked up to see a beautiful girl in an orange skirt offering her a hand. She took it and was pulled to her feet.
"Thank you."
"The pleasure is mine Sailor Moon. Mars, Mercury, Jupiter." She nodded to each of the scouts as she named them. "I'm Sailor Venus, and I've been waiting a long time to meet you." Sailor Moon was taken aback by the look Sailor Venus was giving her. It was like they'd always know each other. Like this moment was meant to be. The spell was broken when Sailor Venus looked to the other scouts. "The team is complete now. It's time to reveal our princess and fulfill our destiny."
"What do you mean?" asked Sailor Mars.
"Let's meet tomorrow. You've all had a trying evening."
Sailor Moon turned from the group as they discussed where they would meet tomorrow to look for Tuxedo Kamen. He didn't usually linger after a battle, but she had a feeling… There he was just in the shadows. Her feet carried her to him before she made the decision to go.
"Why didn't you run?"
"You know why." She could feel his gaze boring into her from behind his mask.
"I don't." She lowered her eyes and saw the blood soaking through his shirt. "You're hurt!"
"It's nothing, Sailor Moon," He took a step closer to her. "Are you ok?"
She stared into his eyes and she knew he saw the truth there.
"Sailor Moon," She turned to see Sailor Mars a few feet away. "Let's go."
When she turned back, he was gone.
