Anko Mitarashi stands tall and snakeskin flows from her shoulders in the shape of her iconic trench coat as she smirks. Dozens of genin are standing in front of her and she looks over the group of teens. All of them are here to become chunin and to do that, they need to pass her test.
"Alright maggots! I'm the sexy and single anko mitarashi! Behind me is the forest of death and your new hell for the next five days! Inside you'll find your typical animals. Bears, tigers, monkeys, snakes, and various other predators. Of course they are all three times the size of their less amazing brethren. You'll have to sign a waiver that has a bunch of legal shit and basically says my village cant get sued when ya die in here. After that you'll have to hold onto a scroll you've been given by my minions. These scrolls have either a heaven mark or an earth mark. You need to head to the tower in the middle of the forest and must be in possession of both scrolls. I don't care how ya get it. If you steal it from a sleeping enemy or slaughter the other team and take the scroll from their corpse. Now. any questions can be directed to my hot ass. To the tents!" anko roars to the teens. Amplifying the sound of her voice with chakra.
The teens head to a tent and sign a waiver before being handed two items. A scroll with a marking on it, and a slip of paper with a number on it. The teens split up into their teams and head to the gate with a number that matches their slip of paper. Each team is informed that they have five minutes to prepare before they are sent into the forest.
"I'm thinking we just head to the middle and burn down the forest. Then take a scroll from the cooling lava." Sam states. The lizard on his head nods in agreement.
"No. if we destroy the forest then we will be executed. The forest was grown by the first hokage. It's a national treasure. We should find a cave and fortify it before sweeping the forest in sections looking for a team to acquire the needed scroll. That way we can gain the scroll needed and avoid unnecessary risks." Jake replies.
Sam pouts but nods at the better plan. They turn to see their heavily covered teammate pulling items out of his coat. A scythe is strapped to his back, a pair of sickles are attached to his hips and are followed by a spare pouch of shuriken that is strapped to his left thigh.
Sam raises a brow at the large amount of weaponry but shrugs at them. His friend did pass the first exam for them by having his insects click in morse code in their ears. The first exam was a test that focused on gathering information without being caught. William had his insects find the information needed then click to his team.
Spare weapons are passed to his teammates as William double checks his gear. Each boy now has their main weapon on their back, a shuriken pouch on each leg with a pouch of kunai on the lower back, a pair of swords on the hips in case they need to use a sword instead of their personal weapon. A set of scrolls are also placed in a case that is on the lower leg and each scroll has various other resources. Mostly camping gear but there are a few other items in the scrolls.
"Dude. you have all of this stuff in your coat?" Sam asks as he checks the straps on his pouches.
"Yes. Where else would I have kept the items?" William replies. Manson clicks and William nods before pulling a gas mask that covers his lower face out of his coat. He passes on to each member of his team before strapping on the mask.
The three boys each spend a moment debating the formations needed for the forest and they agree that the best one would be having Jake stay in front with Sam behind him, while William will stay in the trees above them and shadow them. If an enemy attacks then the two teens will fight as william offers ranged support.
A buzzer blares and the boys charge in. William leaps into the trees with his team but he is just under the canopy while his team is closer to the middle of the trees. Insects flow from william and blood floods jake's eyes as they both use their bloodlines to scout the area around them as they travel. Animals are identified by william and the information is passed to his teammates before they adjust their course to avoid the large beasts. A few hours pass before they arrive at a clearing near a stream. William releases a final wave of insects as Sam uses lava to melt a hole into the earth beneath a tree. Jake uses ninja wire and kunai to catch fish before heading back to cook for his team. William hops down to his team and enters the small cave.
The cave is twelve feet by twelve feet and is eight feet tall. A divot is placed in the ground beneath a hole that is currently being covered with branches by sam, the branches concealing the light of the fire and breaking up the smoke so it rises in a thin stream instead of the usual ribbon of gray. Jake is making a fire to cook the fish.
"Alright. Base is set up and a few of my lizards are hiding in the roots near the entrance. They'll keep us safe or wake us up if the threat is too strong for them. Should I just use a slab of rock for the door or do we hide it with branches?" sam reports then asks.
"There is a three mile gap between us and the nearest team. My insects report they are from the land of sound. I have a swarm following them and will offer more information as it is reported to me." William reports.
"Okay. Sam does a door with rock. We all know the hiding like a mole technique. If we get attacked then the lizards should offer cover while we escape. William, can you make three insect clones that look like us?" Jake replies to his friends.
William nods and Jake smiles at this before they all sit down to eat. As they eat, William keeps leaking insects as they return to him, his entire body looks like the entrance to a hive. Jake and Sam are chuckling over jokes they trade before William stiffens.
"We are being approached. Three miles east. Chakra level is close to kage level but too refined for it to be naruto. The signature is approaching fast. I estimate five minutes before it arrives." William drones.
Sam curses and drops his fish as he stands and rushes outside to warn the lizards. Jake stands and nods to william. Insects flood out of the heavily covered boy and three masses of chitin are soon floating in the room. Sam jogs back in and the insects have nearly finished forming the clones. The three boys trade glances and nod. Sam sinks into the earth as Jake does the same, William waits a few more moments and the insect clones finish forming before a puff of smoke announces their completion. Three clones have taken the place of the teens and look just like the boys they are imitating. William sinks into the earth and the clones sit down before picking up their fish.
Minutes pass and the clones tense as the giant chakra signature passes by. It slows for a moment near them before resuming its travel. The chakra signature exits williams range and the three boys emerge from the earth as the clones fall apart into masses of insects.
"This exam has been invaded." William informs his friends.
"What do you mean? There are genin with chakra like that. Maybe they have more training than naruto." Sam suggests.
"Who passed us?" Jake asks. His gaze focused.
A puff of smoke consumes William and they look at his new form. Pale skin wraps his lean arms and dull yellow covers his body. Glowing yellow eyes with snake pupils peer at them as long inky black hair hangs to his waist. A purple rope tied in a bow at the back acts as a belt and gray pants cover his legs.
"Orochimaru is in the exam." Jake gasps.
"Wait. orochimaru? The snake guy? The guy that betrayed our village by kidnapping people to experiment on them? The kage level ninja that wants to destroy our home? That orochimaru?" Sam asks.
Both teens nod at his question and they all leap into the trees as the lizards guarding their cave vanish.
"New plan. William, lead us to the sound team. We get the scroll then we get the fuck out of here. Maybe the hokage can take out orochimaru." Jake snaps.
William nods and takes the lead. An hour passes by in silence before William signals. The team spreads out and leaps to attack the sound team.
A hunchbacked man covered in bandages is walking with his team as he groans. Of course he gets the team with a loud jackass that seems to think wind blades are the answer to everything! The man sighs before the sound is cut off with a gurgle. His teammates turn back to see that the hunchback has been sliced in half from hip to shoulder. The two halves slide apart and they look up as a twig snaps.
A towering man is wrapped in a witching cloak as the blade of his scythe gleams in the shafts of light piercing the canopy. The woman screams in rage and her remaining teammate raises his arms as he barks his attack.
"Slicing airwaves!" the man roars.
Crescents of wind soar towards the killer of their friend and the towering killer is sliced in half by the attack. The girl cheers as the man smirks. The joy fades as the halves of their enemy fall apart into masses of insects that buzz around them in a cloud of painful stingers. The woman is cut down and screams in pain as flashes of metal sever her limbs from her body. She wails before a flash of metal slices through her neck and her head falls, terror locked on the cooling lump of flesh and bone. The man roars in anger but his yell is silenced by the crunch of his windpipe being crushed.
Three figures walk to him as the man gasps his last. He spots a heavily covered giant that has a scythe on his shoulder, a short man with long hair and a pair of shining meat cleavers in his hands, and a man with bright orange hair with a staff capped in a crescent. His eyes glaze over as his killers search the bodies and find the scroll.
"Heaven. We had earth. Let's go." William rumbles.
"Man. is this genin level? Are we that strong or were they that weak?Sam asks as he joins his team in the trees.
"Neither. As an assanation squad, we strike from the shadows and go for instant kills. Our strength level doesn't matter as much as other teams. We could stay at genin level and have a successful career as long as we kill our targets." Jake replies.
Sam groans and grumbles about a waste of learning badass skills as the head for the tower. Jake chuckles and the rumbling from William signify his amusement at the boy. The trio continue their run and a few more hours pass before they reach the tower. Both scrolls are opened and smoke announces the arrival of ibiki. He smiles at his team but the smile fades at seeing their serious faces.
"Orochimaru is here."
