Around an oil platform, near a city's bay, a MegaSeadramon with a Dark Spiral lurked around, waiting for his prays to come out again to be devoured. That would certainly would please his lord.
He dived down, deep enough to reach the main structure of the platform. Where the other Digimon lurking around the structure was keeping his none existent eyes on one of the crystals on the platform. His fangs bared and growling at the preys trapped inside. The other Digimon was a giant, brown whale with a Dark Spiral attached to its tail. A Whamon.
As the MegaSeadramon swam around the platform, in the inside the Digidestined all looked out in worry and slight fear, and two of them with sorrow as well. They couldn't do anything other than anticipate their enemy's next move, which was coming agonizingly slow.
Kari frowned. "To think he got Whamon too..." She mumbled in sadness, watching another one of the friends she did on their first adventure being possessed by the Digimon Emperor.
"Damn it!" Davis cursed. "Why aren't they attacking? Get it over with!"
"They are stalling for time..." T.K said, crossing his arms and looking down. "If we continue here the air..."
"Hey!" Kari hissed, elbowing him a bit on the sides and pointing back, causing T.K to wince in guilt.
Sitting on a corner of the room, Cody had his knees pulled on his chest as he stared down with a blank stare. "This is my fault..." He buried his face on his knees.
How did the group ended in this situation? And where is exactly their leader in this dire time?
This whole story began earlier that day.
Killua's eyebrow raised as he sat in bed, arms crossed. "Come again?"
"You should stay here today," Kari answered, all dressed up to go to school.
"For my wound?" He asked, touching the shoulder where Blademon dug his sword on their fight the day prior.
"Yep," She said. "Even if we go to just destroy towers, we could encounter something dangerous and I wouldn't want you to aggravated it."
The Hunter sighed. He didn't exactly liked it, but what choice did he had? If Blademon suddenly pops up again, he doubts he will have a good chance against him. While he can work through the pain, the wound could open up again and get in his way, and he hasn't found a way to avoid his Tiger's Hunt. How can you block or avoid what is basically an almost sentient sword that knows every movement you'll make?
"I understand," The Hunter said. "Does... Miss Yuuko suspect anything?"
Yesterday, they pretended nothing bad happened after patching Killua up. Not wanting the resident parents to get worried and learn their dealing with the Digital World again.
"Maybe you should just pretend you're sick," She explained and then look at her watch. "I already had to get going. Get some rest."
"Right, right..." He sighed and plopped back in bed, taking advantage that he will have the bed while Tai was away. "You guys be careful!" He called though she was already out of range to hear it.
Well, now he has the free day. But there isn't much to do while resting at the same time.
Maybe today would be a more relaxing day.
Afterwards, when the time came to visit the Digital World, they received a new signal. This meant a new Digi-egg has appeared.
"According to the Digivice... It's around here..." Davis said, looking at the oil platform in front of them. "What a weird place for an egg to be."
"It could be mine," Cody said, eager to have a new evolution.
Armadillo nodded, thinking around the same lines of his partner. "Yeah, I like the sound of that."
Hawkmon crossed his arms in thought. "Well who knows, could be Kari's or T.K's..."
Cody started to sprint forward, an excited smile on his face and Armadillomon following closely. "Let's hurry up!" He turned to Armadillomon. "Let's see who gets there first!"
"I'mma beat ya, partner!" Armadillomon said, running at the boy's pace despite his robust body.
Yolei blinked in surprise. "Well someone is impatient today," She mumbled.
"Let's hurry it up!" Hawkmon said, flapping forward.
The group all started following the youngest member, entering the structure without checking their surroundings. This proved to be a mistake. MegaSeadramon raised from the water around the structure, his blood-red eyes glaring at the structure and his Spiral sending information to his lord.
"Umm... Ke- Emperor?" Wormmon called as one of the monitors showed the Digidestined. "They're here."
"Ugh, I don't have time for them today!" He groaned, turning around from another screen showing the blueprints of some engine.
Blademon quirked an eyebrow as he saw the images. 'He's not with them?' He almost chuckled. 'He finally ditched them?'
"Let's see..." The Emperor moved around and started typing on his control panel. "MegaSeadramon, you take care of those nuisance. There's also a Digimon on the zone that might help you." He said, sending the information to the Spiral. "Cut their escape routes. Let's see them struggle," He chuckled.
As instructed by his master, MegaSeadramon started to wreck parts of the platform. He destroyed the tower and the bridge connecting the platform with the mainland. The collapse of the tower caused an explosion that rocked the inside of the structure.
The Digidestined all stumbled down as the platform rumbled due to the disaster occuring on the outside.
MegaSeadramon wasn't finished. He dived down to continue his attack on the structure, and there he found the ally the master has sent: Whamon.
Together the two of them started to bash their heads against the outter walls. Cracks started to appear and the water started leaking inside, just as intended.
"Dang it, this place is getting flooded!" T.K said, water falling above them. "There must be something we can do!"
"Davith!" V-Mon called out to his partner as he ran to a wall with a button on it. "This thing says: 'Emergency Ceiling!'"
"Then what are you waiting for, dude?!" Davis asked, covering his head from the water. "Push it!"
Not needing to be told twice, V-Mon pushed the red button. Above them, various circular platforms started forming, working as various layers to keep the water for reaching them.
"There," T.K sighed. "We're safe."
"I don't know..." Gatomon said, narrowing her eyes and looking up. "Now we don't have a way to get out... And with this place sealed shut... The air is limited."
Everyone looked out the window on the room, with T.K and Kari gasping when they saw Whamon being possessed too. Cody stayed on the corner of the room, bitting his lip in guilt.
Cody opened his eyes, the events that lead them to be trapped here vivid on his mind for how recent they. "I'm sorry guys, this is all my fault."
"What'cha saying, Cody?" Armadillomon tilted his head, eyeing his partner.
"Isn't it clear?" The boy asked. "I'm the one who came barging in to this place without even considering it might have been a trap!"
"You listen here, pal," Armadillomon said, trying to reason with him. "We were going to come here either way. You saying that if, I don't know... Yolei or T.K entered here it would've been their fault?" he asked
"But they didn't! I did! It's because of me that we're here!" The boy said, stubbornly and wanting to gain responsibility for it.
"Cody-"
"It is!"
The rest of the group watched the discussion, unsure of what to tell their youngest member. Once he gets like that it was usually hard to snap him out of this state.
Luckily, Patamon broke the tension. "Hey guys! Look at this!"
Patamon was standing in front of a circular, red capsule. Hawkmon eyed the object with curiosity. "An emergency vehicle?"
"Then we're saved!" Davis cheered, almost hearing the celebration trumpets from his favorite videogame.
"Not to burst the bubble," Patamon said as he flapped over the object. "But it's only for one person."
The older members of the group watched the object, realizing that what Patamon said it's the truth. "I think Cody should be the one to get on," Kari proposed, much the the boy's surprise.
"I agree," Yolei said, finding logical that with his size he would fit in.
"Me too," T.K joined.
With each agreement, the boy grew more and more baffled at their responses.
"What do you say, Davith?" V-Mon asked him.
Davis looked unsure, he turned to see his friends and then he looked at Kari's expectant smile.
Oh how to say no to that face? "I whole heartedly agree..." He say with a lovey-dovey face.
"Okay then. Cody, please get on the submarine," Kari told him.
"Wait, hold up, don't I get a say in this?" Cody asked, nervously. "Just because I'm the smallest one I have to be the one to get in? If so, I decline."
"What did ya say?" Davis asked, walking to him and glaring him down. "Was that a no I heard? Are you not going to respect our decision?"
"That's what I said!" He said, snapping back at Davis.
"Look, kiddo, just do as we say for this once!" Davis said, getting into a glare contest with the fourth grader.
Hawkmon flapped at Yolei's side as he watched the interaction between the two. "When Cody gets like that, it's hard to get him to listen."
"Don't you worry, I have a plan," The girl grinned, knowing the kid better than the rest of the group. "Guys, I have an idea, let's leave everything to the luck!"
The two boys, who looked close to bitting each other's head off, turned to stare curiously at the girl. Armadillomon tilted his head at her. "To luck?"
"I... Don't think that's a good idea," Davis admitted.
"I think it's a good one," Kari said, realizing the plan Yolei's having. "Don't you guys think?"
The question immediately destroyed all of Davis' former doubts on the subject as he nodded rapidly, while Cody still looked unsure. "W-well... I think?" He said.
Both girls started to organize e everything for the scheme. V-Mon was confused by the whole thing. "Are we participating as well?"
Gatomon swatted her tail to his head to make him be quiet, understanding what her partner and Yolei where trying to make. "No, silly, us Digimon will stay out of it."
"In the end only one of us will enter the capsule, so just leave it to us, humans," T.K said.
Davis tilted his head and looked up at the ceiling. "So... With luck you guys mean rock, paper, scissors or..." His comment made T.K sweatdrop.
"Umm no, we're making a sort out," He explained the boy with square goggles, the only one who hasn't caught up with the plan.
Yolei produced five straws and held them on one hand. "Okay, take your pick, the one with the red tip will get on the submarine. Who goes first?"
"Oh! Me, me!" Davis said, getting ready to pick.
Yet, before he could, T.K shoved him slightly to the side, while tugging Cody along. "Let the youngest one do it, go on, Cody!"
Cody gave them all a suspicious look before taking a pick. He got the red one, much to his disbelief and suspicion.
The other acted naturally. "Hey, you go Cody! On one go!" Yolei cheered.
"Nice going, Cody!" Kari said, clapping her hands.
"I knew Cody was destined to greatness!" Armadillomon boasted.
Enough was enough for Cody. He slapped the straw against Yolei's hand, the girl winced and let the straws fall. All of them had the red straw. Cody scowled. "I knew it! You rigged it!"
"Well yeah, but..." Yolei started.
"That isn't fair!" Cody accused.
Yolei frowned. "We didn't have much of a choice!"
Kari frowned and clenched her fist as she sent a accusatory look at him. "It's because you're too damn stubborn!"
"So it was rigged?" Davis still hadn't caught up to the plan, he knelt to look at the fallen straws with closer attention.
"Maybe it's a good thing I didn't participate..." V-Mon was on the same page as his partner.
"V-Mon, we didn't participate because we already knew of the plan," Hawkmon tried to explain the blue Digimon.
"You did?!" He yelped in surprise, Davis having his eyes wide.
"It was common sense," Gatomon deadpanned, causing the two's heads to fall.
"I am not going!" Cody stubbornly refused.
Kari frowned and glared at the boy a bit. Her mind drifted for a moment to their leader. 'What would Killua do?' An idea came to mind.
Before he could understand what was happening, Cody was suddenly grabbed by the back of his neck and dragged towards the capsule. "Uh? H-hey, wait!"
Everyone watched in astonishment as Kari, with a determined gaze, dragged Cody without effort to the capsule and threw him inside. Cody turned and tried to get out, but the lid of the capsule closed before he could try. "Sorry," She said, clasping her hands together. "When you get out, go to the human world and look for my brother, or Killua, or any of our friends."
"O-oh!" Yolei broke out of her stupor. "Look for Joe! With Ikkakumon's help we can get out of here!"
"We trust in you, partner!" Armadillomon smiled at him.
"No guys wait! I can't leave you like this!" Cody begged as the capsule was shot outwards. "Guys!"
As the capsule went off, Kari felt stares on her and she turned around to see everyone, Gatomon excluded, giving her quizzical gazes. "Err... W-what?" She blinked.
"Nothing," They said with nervous chuckles and looking at the other side.
Davis inwardly swooned. 'She doesn't know it yet, but she'll be my wife!'
"We have to make sure Cody doesn't call their attention," T.K said gesturing to the window. Everyone understood and ran to the glass.
To make sure his escape was successful, the others started to hit the glass on the room to call their warden's attention. MegaSeadramon and Whamon glared at them, trying to figure out what their preys would gain with this, their oxygen would run out faster with this efforts, maybe they were just desperately trying to find a way to escape.
Cody, without any other choice, he guided the capsule to the surface. To the same place where the television where they came from was. He sighed and raised his Digivice, hoping the others made the right choice.
Killua sat on Tai's bed on a crosslegged position, in deep meditation. Something he learned from his first teacher in Nen, Wing. It helped him strengthen his spirit and mind and he certainly need it right now. Wing referred to it as another type of Nen.
Since Kari and Tai left for school and he stayed to rest his wound, he has been thinking about the enemy that injured him in the first place. More accurately, his ability.
He needed to find a way to avoid the attack, or else next time he might not be as lucky. Whirlwind wasn't enough, and he doubts Lightning Speed will be of any use either, if an immediate reaction that bypassed his own nervous system wasn't enough then one made by him while conscious wouldn't do much either. So what options did that left him?
Either use Ko to focus all of his Nen on the place where he will strike, or create a whole new technique that might help him in that regard.
Using Ko was too risky, he could fail to predict where he will attack and leave his whole body defenseless, or he could guess accurately but nothing says using Ko for defense will be enough.
And creating a new technique was too complicate. Granted, he made his Hatsu in basically a single night, but he knew he already had an idea of what to make since he discovered he was a Transmuter; He knew how lighting behaved, how it felt, it was easier to recreate the sensation for him. To Transmutate his aura into something to defend against Blademon's sword, he would have to first learn what the sword is made of, and then learn how the material feels, it's composition. Such a hassle!
He could try and use Enhancement to make his aura stronger, but he didn't had enough practice with it. And with Conjuring he could only create his yo-yos, and that was because he knew them like the back of his hand.
He sighed and opened his eyes. "Other choice? Beat him before he pulls that out."
Before he could continue his meditation, the phone of the house started ringing. He got up and walked out of the room to look around. Tai was still in practice, and miss Yuuko got out to get some groceries.
He walked to the phone and picked it up. "Hello? ... Cody? What are you doing back so soon? And the others?" Killua listened as Cody started to mumble and then he told him everything that happened in the Digital World. His eyes went wide before settling down. "Find Joe's number and wait for me outside your building." He told him before hanging the phone.
Joe studies in Shimegawa, that's what he discovered after browsing through a phone guide after calling Killua to let him learn of what's happening. He knew their leader was injured at the moment, but they needed all the help they could get.
He waited for the elevator to open up, but his heart nearly stopped and his blood turned cold as he saw his mother and grandfather exiting. "Iori? You're back so soon."
"H-Hi, mom, grandfather..." He said, nervously.
"You come at a good time, could you help us with this groceries?" His mother asked, gesturing to the bags.
Cody swallowed as his throat got dry. "I... I can't, I have to go."
"Uh? What do you mean you have to go?" His mother asked, while his grandfather stayed quiet slurping on some yogurt pack. "Where, exactly?"
"I... Can't say..." He bowed, both in as an apology and as a way to not look at his mother in the eye while keeping a secret from her.
"What do you mean you can't say?" She asked. "What have we said about secrets?" Her tone wasn't harsh, but the disappointment was worse than any scolding.
Salvation came in the form of his grandfather. "Now, Fumiko, don't force him to say anything. If you force him, he might end up lying. So if you can't, or don't want to say it, then don't. It's better than lying. It must be important if you're in a hurry. Never forget, Iori, the worst thing you can ever do is lie." He reminded with a kind smile, before slurping from his yogurt.
Cody nodded and bowed again. "Thank you for understanding. I won't come back late, I promise!" He said as he entered the elevator.
Fumiko sighed as he watched them go. "Chikara, sometime you're too laxed with him."
"I suppose, but I've noticed he's been surrounded by more friends recently," He shrugged. "He should enjoy himself."
Davis tapped his forehead constantly against the railings of the platform. Out of boredom and to try and avoid the more depressing thoughts on their situation.
"Could you stop that?!" Yolei asked, tired of the constant tapping coming from the contact. "It's hurting my ears."
Davis did stopped and turned to glare at her. "Oh yeah, well then you stop that!" He said, pointing to her foot, that was tapping constantly against the floor. "It's hurting my eyes!"
"I'm not doing it 'cause I want to!" She said. "It's a nervous tick, you jog!"
"Okay, enough," Hawkmon said. "Stop fighting!"
"We aren't doing nothing," Davis said, turning her back to Yolei.
"You sure?" The avian Digimon asked, looking at his partner.
"Yeah, whatever," She said, turning her back on the boy too.
The air was tense, in more than one way. So Armadillomon tried to cheer everyone with some suggestions. "Hey, how 'bout we pass the time with some games? Anyone up for twenty questions?"
Kari shook her head and sat down. "I'm not in the mood, sorry..."
"How can you be some optimistic?" Hawkmon asked the yellow Digimon.
"'Cause I have faith in Cody," Armadillomon answered, looking completely relaxed.
"Look, so do I," Yolei said. "But we have a deadline at the moment."
"What a good choice of words..." Davis muttered. "We can run out of oxygen and then we..."
He didn't needed to end the phrase. They all know what will happen when the oxygen rans out.
Their thoughts were interrupted when they heard a clanging sound coming from a level below. "Guys? You might want to see this!" T.K's voice said.
"C'mon, man! We need to see Joe Kido!" Killua said, looking at a man behind a counter and with Cody shuffling his feet nervously behind him.
"And I've already told you, kids, that he's on an important exam right now," The man replied.
Cody and Killua finally met in front of the former's building just as accorded. And with Cody guiding his leader, they arrived to Joe's college. But now they faced a new problem: a man on a desk.
"It's an urgent matter!" Killua said, trying to keep his composure. Which was hard since his friends were all on borrowed time!
"Look, kid, I can't call anyone out of their classroom for no reason. Tell me is it a familiar emergency, did someone had an accident?" The man asked.
Before Killua could give a retort to the man, Cody blurted out. "Joe's father is in the hospital!"
The man stopped to look at Cody, Killua doing the same, but quickly rolled with it. It was the only way this guy would let them get Joe. "That's right, he had an accident. We need to tell Joe, now!"
The man nodded, although he eyed them suspiciously as he walked to away to get Joe. Killua sighed in relief and looked back at Cody... Only to see the conflicted look on his eyes.
Cody clenched his fists as his grandfather's words echoed on his mind. "W-what else could I do?"
"Hey," Killua put a hand on his shoulder, causing the kid to look at him. "You okay?"
"I... I guess..." He mumbled, not knowing what to say. "I told a lie but... But it was so the others could be saved..."
"Then I think it was a good thing," Killua said shrugging. "If it doesn't hurt anyone, it's okay to tell a lie once in a while."
"But it's wrong," Cody replied, his eyes full of conflict as the words still made an echo.
Killua frowned, not knowing how to deal with the boy's thoughts. Lying in principle was wrong, but the reason was the most important thing. Hmm, there was an idea. "Think of it as a necessary evil. It's bad, but something that needed to be done."
While it didn't took the conflict from his eyes away, the tension on his shoulders eased.
Killua sighed. He hoped they could make it in time. 'Hang in there, guys.'
With an axe pike, T.K was making a hole on the floor of the platform. The others walked down thd stairs to eye him curiously. "What are you doing?" Kari asked.
"Well, my Digivice detected the Digi-egg's signal again, so I came down here to look for it," He gripped the pike tightly. "And I found some tools to help me dig it out."
"You worry about the Digi-egg at a time like this?" Davis asked, slightly exasperated by the blond.
"It's better than sitting down doing nothing," T.K shrugged. "Better to do something useful while I can!" He raised the pike and brought it down as he said that.
"I think we should help him out, Yolei," Hawkmon said.
"Sounds great to me," She said, going over to the blond to try and help.
Everyone soon joined on the digging of the Digi-egg. Something more preferable than sitting down to wait for the air to run out.
"This is bad!" Joe yelled as he ran across the sidewalk. He bolted out of the classroom moments ago when he was informed of an accident. Only to find Killua and Cody waiting for him.
They explained everything to him; The younger Digidestined were trapped underwater with the time against them. They needed to go to the Odaiba school and fast.
"Joe, wait!" Cody said, trying to catch up to the older boy. "I'm sorry... I lied... about your dad!" He panted.
"Save it for later, Cody!" Killua said, keeping his pace low to keep up with the younger boy. "Now's not the time."
Joe turned as they ran. "You don't have to apologize, I understand why you had to do it."
"Still, I'm... Sorry!" He panted.
The older teen came to a stop, along with the two boys. "I told you it's no problem," He started rummaging through his bag. "I have an idea."
"What... is it?" Cody said, doubling over and trying to regain breath.
Joe punched the dials on a cellphone and put it to his hear. "Izzy? It's me, Joe. The kids are in danger. I need you to do me a favor, my house is close to your school, pick Gomamon and wait for us there. Alright, thanks." He hang off and nodded. "All set."
"Okay then, let's go!" Killua pressured, ready to take off.
"Wait, Killua," Joe said, stopping him on his tracks. "Are you sure you can go in your state? Your wound it's still fresh."
Killua hid the small flinch he felt at the reminder of his wound. They were going to water territoy, if his wound opened again while in the water then he could lose blood more quickly. Not to mention it was salt water...
But in the end. His friends' wellbeing were more important to him. "I'm sure," He said. "Don't worry."
While looking unsure, Joe nodded and the three ran forward to the school.
With the last rock removed, the form of the Digi-egg was finally visible for the team. "There it is!" Davis grinned.
"That symbol... It's Joe's Crest," Kari said in recognition. She knelt and tried to move it, but nothing happened. "I guess it's not mine," She said, a little disappointed.
"Cody was right, it's his after all," T.K admitted.
"That means I'm gonna have a new evolution!" Armadillomon exclaimed in excitement.
"What's it gonna be?" Patamon asked, as he flapped over the Digi-egg.
"I can already see it," Armadillomon lol said. Imaging himself as a knight on a shining silver armor, ready to kick some butts.
Davis looked up. "I can already see it..." He thought of Armadillomon... But bigger, and spikes all over. "Nice."
Yolei whispered her own ideas about Armadillomon's new evolution to Kari. Causing both girls to laugh out loud, and making the boys join too.
But the laughter stopped and they all looked away, panting slightly and their Digimon looking at them in worry.
"They are trying to hide from the situation behind laughter," Gatomon mumbled. "But they're all reaching their limits..."
Yolei suddenly entered on a coughing fit, pressing her hand against the wall for support. Kari went to her side to check on her. "Yolei?"
"I'm..." A cough escaped her mouth. "I'm fine..." She looked out of the window and her glasses almost fell. "Or... Maybe I'm seeing things."
Kari raised and eyebrow and turned around to look at a figure approaching them. Her eyes widen when she realized who they were. "Ikkakumon and Killua!"
The Hunter was latching to the walrus Digimon's fur as they dived into the ocean. He was missing his shirt, and his bandages were soaking wet, but Joe will replace them later on.
'I don't have much time down here...' Killua thought as he eyed the two enemies. 'If I can get Whamon free we can get the others inside his mouth to allow them to escape. But easier said than done, I'm not a fish...' He thought as he charged his Ren and let go of Ikkakumon's fur.
Just in time, because MegaSeadramon just slammed his tail against him and gave chase to the walrus, leaving Killua alone with Whamon.
'Ah shit,' He thought. He turned to see Whamon charging at him, opening his mouth to swallow him whole.
Killua focused Nen on his feet and used the propeller technique to move out of the way of the whale's mouth. Whamon looked up, somehow glaring at him despite the lack of eyes, and started swimming in circles. "Giant Wave!" His voice boomes.
A whirlpool started to form thanks to Whamon's circles, dragging Killua slowly to it. The Hunter was very limited on his abilities, he couldn't use lighting without risking hurting Ikkakumon, who was already struggling enough with MegaSeadramon. As he was dragged into the cyclone, he had to struggle to keep his breath in. If he loses the air on his lungs, then he was a goner.
Whamon stopped his circling and turned around to charge at a dizzy Killua. The former assassin regained his senses long enough to see Whamon about to ram him over. He looked back to see the platform behind him and an idea came to mind.
He propelled himself over again, dodging the ramming and letting the whale crash against the wall of the platform.
Inside, the group leaped back in shock as Whamon's head bursted through the wall, thrashing wildly to get free and get to his preys.
And in the outside, Killua calmly swam to the Dark Spiral on his tail and pry it open using a great deal of his strength.
Whamon stopped his thrashing and gave the impression of blinking. "Uh? What was I...?"
"Whamon!" T.K and Kari cheered as they saw their friend regain his mind.
"Digidestined?" Whamon asked. "How... Ergk-" He stopped himself as he felt some discomfort on his back side. He opened his mouth and Killua walked out of it. "Did you... Entered through my spiracle?"
"It was that or drowning..." Killua said, not entirely comfortable. He turned to his friends and pointed to the mouth of the Whale. "Get on board. Cody and Joe are waiting on the surface."
"Wait!" Armadillomon said. "Cody has to come down here, there's a Digi-egg waiting for him!" Killua raised an eyebrow and leaped off Whamon's mouth to where they were all gathered.
Just like all the others, the egg lay there, unmoving and waiting to be lifted by one of them. "How did something like this ended up on an oil platform of all places?" Killua muttered.
"Hey, Killua? Think you can lift it?" T.K asked. "You did so with the Digi-egg of Friendship before."
"If you lift it, you can give it to Cody," Kari said.
Killua looked down at the egg and sighed. They had nothing to lose in this case. "Fine then..." He crouched and put his hands around the egg. He pulled... And like before the egg came out without a fight. "... This pisses me off for so many reasons," Killua said.
"Be pissed later, time to go!" Davis said.
And with that everyone mounted the Whale's mouth to finally escaped the underwater imprisonment. Ikkakumon stayed down to continue fighting MegaSeadramon. While relieved that the kids were free, now he faced a new dilemma in the form of his enemy. 'I've faced a MegaSeadramon before, but back then I was Zudomon. Now I can evolve further beyond this...' He grimaced.
Cody and Joe stood at the edge of the land that was connected to the platform, nervously waiting for their friends to come out in one piece. The water started bubbling and a familiar brown head came out. At first, Cody flinched and went to hid back behind Joe, but the whale opened his mouth, revealing the Digidestined and their partners all safe and sound.
"Guys!" Cody was overjoyed at seeing them safe.
Everyone climbed out of the whale with some help. Killua being the last one, holding the Digi-egg close. "Look what they've found," Killua said, showing the Digi-egg to the two.
"The Digi-egg of Reliability?" Joe asked, eyeing the object with his Crest with curiousity.
Cody meanwhile, looked away from the egg. Feelings from the beginning of the day still fresh in his mind. He looked towards the ocean with worry. "And Ikkakumon?"
"He's still fighting with MegaSeadramon," Kari said.
Whamon turned. "I can give it try and help him, but MegaSeadramon is really fast. We'll be having problems with that," He said, ready to dive down.
"Wait, you still have injuries from those bashes you did, stay for now. We might have another way," Killua said holding up the egg and looking at their youngest member. "What do you say Cody?"
"... No," Cody shook his head. "I can't use that Digi-egg. It won't work!"
"How do you know if you haven't tried it?" Davis asked, hands on his hips.
"You said it, it's the Digi-egg of Reliability. And today I haven't been reliable!" He said, close to tears. "Because of me you guys got trapped, then I had to keep a secret from my mom... And then... And then just when my grandfather said I shouldn't lie I-I went and told a lie."
"Cody, I told you it was a necessary evil," Killua tried to reason with him. "We didn't have any other choice."
"He is right," Joe put a hand on the kid's shoulder to reassure him. "There are two types of lies: Lies that shouldn't be told and those that should; Lies that hurt people and lies that help them."
"White lies, aren't they?" Armadillomon asked, comprehending Joe's words.
"That's right," Joe nodded at the Digimon.
"But..." The boy was still unsure.
"Cody," Killua called, kneeling in front of him. "Sometimes you have to do things you don't like for the people you care about. That doesn't make you unreliable, just someone that is willing to do anything to help," He explained, his mind briefly flashing to him knocking his best friend unconscious, and extending the egg to him. "So, use the egg, even if you don't want to, and help Ikkakumon," He said, his voice a bit firm but with a smirk.
"And, if it makes you feel better, I will explain what happened to your grandfather later. Explain to him how your lie didn't do anything bad to me. And just think that without your lie avoided something terrible from happening," Joe told him, all with a patient smile.
Cody looked at the two of them. Both giving him reasons to prove he did the right thing. Then at the rest of his friends, all of them safe and sound thanks to the choices he made. If sometimes you had to do the wrong thing to do the right... Then... It is worthy? He would only try to do the right thing obviously, but he will accept his actions for now. And more importantly, he will reciprocate the trust everyone put on him.
"Okay," He nodded, drying his tears.
"Do you got it?" Killua asked, extending the egg to him.
"Yeah!" He grabbed the egg from the leader's hands. Light as a feather. "Armadillomon!"
"Said it loud, partner!" Armadillomon said.
Cody raised the Digimental and exclaimed. "Digimental Up!"
"Armadillomon Armor Digivolves to..." Armadillomon out of instinct jumped to the water as the egg broke and surrounded him before covering him completely. His form changed to a more sleek one, his front paws changed to fins and a metallic tale replaced the normal one, and a harpoon appearing as his nose. "Submarimon! A Reliable Tsunami!"
"Woah! That new form looks so cool!" Yolei gushed.
"And convenient," Killua remarked. "He can certainly help against MegaSeadramon."
"What do ya say, partner?" Submarimon opened the compartment on his back. "Wanna help out?"
Cody nodded and jumped down, landing on his back and lying down. The cockpit closed and Cody grabbed the controls in it. "Okay, let's help them out."
They dived down, leaving their friends standing there. "Will they be okay?" Kari asked.
"Yeah, they will," Killua said, sitting down. "Now, Joe, could you replace my bandages? ... It feels weird having them wet."
"I didn't even want you to go in with Ikkakumon, but whatever," Joe muttered getting a roll of bandage.
Ikkakumon had latched to MegaSeadramon's tails with his jaws, but the sea serpent slammed him against some rockd, forcing him to let go.
MegaSeadramon charged another Lighting Javelin on his horn. The attack was interrupted by a constant barrage of bullets of air, forcing him to move back to avoid them.
Submarimon floated to Ikkakumon's side. "We've come to help!" Cody informed Ikkakumon.
"That's good," The walrus said. "Follow me, I have a plan!"
The two started to swim away from the possessed Digimon. MegaSeadramon roaring and giving chace to the two, just according to plan.
"I'll guide him to those tunnels, you wait on the other side," Ikkakumon told him, Submarimon complied and swam around a submarine cavern.
MegaSeadramon followed Ikkakumon inside of it, caving through the walls to catch his prey. Ikkakumon got out of the caver first, and when MegaSeadramon did the same, Submarimon was waiting for him. "Oxygen Bombs!" From the two openings at the side of his face, spheres of compressed air were launched.
Upon impact, they exploded and Submarimon charged forward, pointing to the Dark Spiral on his tail. With his pointed nose, the Dark Spiral broke apart. MegaSeadramon's eyes went back to a normal green and he swam back up to the surface.
"Nice job, Submarimon," Cody said, panting the interior of the cockpit he was in.
"Now he'll be a good boy," Submarimon joked.
On the surface, the rest of the Digidestined and Killua were waiting for their friends to reemerge, and they saw how MegaSeadramon was the first to come out.
"Is he..." Davis asked, eyeing the Digimon with caution.
MegaSeadramon then proceed to ignore them and swam away, showing his Spiral-less tail in the process. "He's free," Killua pointed out.
Yolei looked around. "Hey... Why hasn't Cody come up yet?" She asked.
Everyone looked down, wondering what the boy was doing down there.
"Okay, Submarimon, let's go back," Cody said.
"Wait a minute, Cody," The aquatic Digimon said. "How about we explore a bit?"
"Explore?" The boy asked.
Submarimon started to swam around ocean, close enough from the surface to have some light. Cody watched with curiousity as his partner take him around different areas of the ocean, only for that curiousity to change to complete astonishment.
He saw colorful corals, different fishes that he didn't thought existed in the Digital World, and even a manta ray swimming in circles near the surface.
Cody never thought he would see something so beautiful in his life. Yet his partner granted him this after such a testing day. He could now enjoy for a moment the sights. Who knows when a peaceful moment like this would arise again with the Emperor still lurking in the shadows.
"They survived, what a surprise..." Blademon said dryly.
The Emperod ignored him, too focused on another screen. It showed different Digimon. "Hmm... Maybe this one, and then with this one..." He mumbled.
"Emperor?" Wormmon called. When there was no reaction, he tried differently. "... Ken?"
The Emperor ignored all of their calls. He was watching every analysis he had over the characteristics of every Digimon he's ever possessed. "Yes... This will work."
"Ken, what are you working about?" Wormmon asked again.
"Keep your mouth shut and don't interrupt me, worm," He said, getting up and checking new data.
Blademon narrowed his eyes as he saw how the data of Airdramon's wings was separated and put in another file. He didn't knew what the boy was working on, but it didn't seemed to be within his true master's schemes. 'What are you up to now, boy?' He thought, not trusting one bit the growing crazy smile on the brat's face, or the way his sleep-deprived eyes seemed to grow smaller and smaller as he observed the screen.
A/N: Not much of Killua this episode, but the episode was focused around Cody anyway. Don't worry, our favorite Hunter will have the time to shine. We are getting closer to the Emperor's endgame.
