A/N: I want to know what you guys think of Blademon. Is he a good, a bad character? Annoying? Useful? Since he's my only OC, I really want to know.
On the darkness of the night, on the Emperor's base. A figure walked to the main control room, a figure... Wearing a familiar cloak over his body.
Blademon made the Emperor's control panel appear with a wave of his hand. He pressed the holographic keys and made the screen lit up to show the main screen.
The hooded Digimon narrowed his blue eyes as he saw the locked up file. "What are you planning brat?" He mused as he saw the name of the file.
Project: CHIMERA.
He pressed the keys rapidly, the lessons his true Master gave him working to decoy the brat's security within an instant.
The blue eyes behind the hood widened as he saw the concept behind this new project. "What is this?!" He bared his teeth with anger. "You truly believe you're a God, huh brat?!"
He can't destroy the carpet, or get rid of it. That would be too suspicious, since only him and Wormmon are the only ones around the base, and the worm wasn't smart enough to unlock the file.
The Digidestined were always a choice... And yes, him too... But how could he tell him about this?
"Hmm..." He locked back the file and walked away from the chamber. He needed to find a way to tell the group about the pretender's plans. 'This isn't why the master wanted him for! He is stepping out of line. And as much as I'd like to put him in place... The towers still need to be placed.'
He walked to the exit of the base and looked at the desertic night. The cold doing nothing to him thanks to both his cloak and the fur that covered his body. "I can't tell the Digidestined... But maybe... Someone else can."
He dashed towards the desert, a plan already on his mind. He knows of the location of one ally of the Digidestined. Maybe that way he can stop the pretender's madness before it comes to fruition.
July 30. In that day, on the Fuji Tv station, strange things would start happening.
Two workers were burning themselves up as they continued working. They were adding the last touches to a documentary on a jungle. While editing, one of them—A man in his mid-thirties, saw something blur through the screen, passing over the image. He blinked and like that the blur was gone. He took off his glasses and rubbed his eye. 'Man, I shouldn't be doing this kind of things so late...' He thought while leaning back on his chair, while his friend—A man with a cap continued to work. "There, you continue on the next panel, pal!"
"Hmmm, hey Charlie... Did you went to the church to bless or purge the program?" The man asked as he continued to watch the footage.
"Emm... No?" Charlie said as he took out a pack of cigarettes from his jacket. "Why do you ask?"
The man shrugged. "I don't know, it's something strange happening on the screen."
"Strange how?"
"This might sound crazy, but it's like a ghost is appearing on the screen," He admitted with a sheepish shrug.
Charlie snorted and started chuckling. "Oh come on man, take this seriously, there's no such thing as..." He trailed off as the sound of static started ringing across the room.
They looked at the screen to see how the image of the documentary was distorted and warped. Over the image itself appeared a shadowy figure, it was just a blur with yellow eyes staring at the world outside of the screen.
The two of them could only gap in horror and bolt out of the room to inform of this abnormality on their recordings.
And on July 31, the day was the same for the Digidestined.
A bright light covered the computer room and the Digidestined, along with their leader, appeared on the room.
A loud grumble camd from the small Demiveemon. "Guys, I'm hungry!" He whined.
Killua rolled his eyes. "You're always hungry, little guy," He commented. His injury had already healed, full recovery. And while he still didn't had any solution for Blademon's attack, he hasn't stopped thinking of ways to do it.
"I can't help it, we took down many towers today in the Digital World!" Demiveemon discussed, waving his little arms in the air.
Kari would have commented too, but she was struggling to even stay awake. This last few days Killua has amplified her training, and while she was feeling the results on her body, like muscles getting stronger and becoming faster, she was also feeling like she could die at any moment. And she probably was going to, once her head hits her pillow... Only for their white haired leader to wake her up and drag her to the training. Welp, she's the one to sign for this.
"He is right though," T.K said. "Today we recovered a lot of territories. How about we make some snacks, kick back and take a rest."
"Bingo!" Yolei nodded. "We have new snacks on the store and some new games back home. How about we all go to test it?"
"Good idea," Davis said, sounding exciting. "So, what's the game about?"
While everyone was discussing plans to spend the rest of the afternoon, Cody remained unusually quiet—Something that Kari noticed. "Cody, what's wrong?"
"It's just... I'm a bit upset that we can't seem to know what the Emperor's next movement is going to be," He said, looking down at the floor with a frown.
"He has a point," Killua said. "Ken hasn't showed his face in a while, all he does is plant towers like always. But he hasn't even tried to look for Digimon to replace his Generals, or even try and re-capture Leomon."
"And even when he expands his territories he does so subtlety," T.K said. "Without making a big show out of it like before."
"Pfff, so what?" Davis scoffed and crossed his arms. "Comes to show he is afraid of showing his face to us! He have him on the ropes!"
"That's right, Ken will go down soon!" Yolei said dramatically, raising her hand up in the air.
Killua kept a neutral face at what they said. For him, Ken wasn't the problem, but rather his mysterious bodyguard. He has yet to appear again, but the Hunter was worrying that he might not be ready to face him again. He glanced subtlety at his shoulder, remembering how their last encounter went.
"That might be so," Cody told the two cheering kids. "But we have an even bigger problem. From tomorrow onward we won't be able to use the computer room as freely as before."
"Huh? Why?" Yolei asked, Davis and, surprisingly, Killua were shocked to hear of this too.
"Oh, right, I forgot; it will be used over the summer by the children of the earlier grades," T.K said, scratching the back of his head.
"And just now we learn of this?!" Davis asked, putting his hands on his hips.
"That might be troublesome, we'll have to sort things out. But that means no Digital World tomorrow..." Killua said with a sigh. 'Not that we would've been available to do it anyway...' He added as an after thought.
T.K looked up with a pensative look. "Well... We were actually going to do something tomorrow, so we wouldn't have been able to attend anyway," He informed.
"We? ... As in you and... Who?" Davis asked, a sense of dread on his stomach.
Kari smiled and walked to the blond's side. "And me!"
"Huh?!" Davis mind broke and went blank for a second.
"And me," Killua added, arms folded behind his head and walking to the blond's other side.
"HUH?!" His mind came back, only to provide him of many different scenarios where his worsts fears became real: Kari dating, and consecutively marrying both T.P and Sparky! "Y-y-y-you guys are going out... Together?" He asked, to confirm his worst nightmares.
"Yeah," At Kari's response, Davis was ready to jump off he window. "Along with my brother and the others," she said, taking out a notebook.
Davis stopped his death wish and tilted his head. "Huh?" He looked at the at the notebook. "Project First of August?"
"Tomorrow is the anniversary of the first time we went to the Digital World, met our partners and Killua," T.K said.
"Remember the reason Mimi came to visit us?" Killua asked. "When we faced Digitamamon and all that? Well tomorrow's the reason." Kari had reminded him of this during last night's training session.
"I mean... That was kind of a long time ago..." He mumbled poking his fingers together.
"That was at the beginning of the month..." Killua remarked dryly, causing chuckles to erupt.
Davis blushed in both anger and embarrassment and turned his back on them. "Hmph! Whatever!"
"Come to think if it, want to come with us, guys?" T.K invited.
All of the three Digidestined were surprised at hearing the invitation. "Eh? Really?" Yolei asked.
"Of course," Kari said. "I don't think my brother and the others would see any problem with it."
"You might as well tag along," Killua said. "You are involved in this as much as us."
"Okaaaaay... You guys aren't going to a date then?" Davis asked, just to be sure.
The three of them blinked. "Errr... No." Killua said with a flat face.
"Okay cool, then I'll go!" Davis nodded in excitement.
"Me too!"
"And me three!" Yolei and Cody accepted as well.
"Great," Kari said, clapping her hands. "Then we'll meet each other tomorrow."
Davis tilted his head. "Where, exactly?"
On the next day, on August 1, the group of five met at the a park near the river, sitting in benches. The Fuji Tv station on the other side of the body of water.
As everyone gathered, T.K started talking. "Like we said yesterday, August 1 is the day where we were all called to the Digital World for the first time," He explained. "We all went to a summer camp five years ago, and on that same day we were all dragged there."
Kari giggled. "Well, not everyone. I got a cold some time before that and I couldn't go."
"It was a day like this five years ago when I met T.K," Patamon said, smiling at his partner.
"I see..." Yolei mumbled, then turned to the white haired Hunter. "What about you, Killua? How did you get to the Digital World?"
He shrugged. "I was talking a walk on the city where I was staying, then a giant wave suddenly dragged me to away. Next thing I know, I'm in File Island, with strange creatures and a giant freaking bug chasing me," He said and then sighed with a smirk. "Good times."
"Yeah they were," Patamon and T.K nodded in agreement, as the new generation look at them with baffled expressions.
"Hey there!" Everyone turned at a voice calling them and turned to see the group of older Digidestined waving at them, Tai leading them. All of them wearing backpacks.
The teen with round goggles noticed that the younger kids were there too. "So you guys decided to tag along?" He asked as they approached. In summer and now out of school, Tai wore a dark-blue shirt with an orange star in the middle, orange wristbands and brow shorts.
"Yup, thought it was a good idea since we are Digidestined and all," Davis said, scratching the back of his head.
Killua gave him a deadpan look. 'You thought Kari, T.K and I were going to some kind of weird threesome date, dumbass.' He looked at the older kids with a raised eyebrow. "And your partners guys?"
"Here," Mimi said taking out her backpack and opening it, revealing a smiling Tanemon. "They all worked hard so they could regress back and accompany us."
The other Digidestined did the same as the girl, revealing their In-Training partners inside of the bags. "Hi!" They chorused.
"Shh, not so loud!" Mimi said. Her hair was back to its original chestnut color, she was wearing a long white summer dress, and bracelets on her wrists. "Hope you guys haven't started without us. We have a lot of to tell you today."
"How come?" Yolei asked, tilting her head in curiousity.
"Well... Since this is our anniversary, we thought now would be a good time to finally tell you about everything that happened during our first adventure," Sora explained. She was wearing a pink shirt, with a yellow circle in the middle, and red shorts.
"Really?" Cody asked, his eyes widening with emotion.
"Of course," Izzy chuckled. He was wearing a yellow and red stripped shirt under a green blazer. "And its even more special since this is also Killua's first time in the anniversary."
Killua couldn't help the smile on his face as he scratched the back of his head at the thought of something like this.
"Awww, look at him, he's blushing!" Mimi said, cupping her face with her hands.
And the moment was gone. Killua huffed and looked at the side. "No idea what you're talking about, idiot."
"Welp, he's back," Matt chuckled. He was wearing a black shirt and jeans.
"Okay, let's start," Joe said. He was wearing a blue shirt and long beige pants. "It's only on counted occasions that we're all reunited like this, so let's make the most of it."
No one objected that. Everyone gathered under a large tree to hide from the unforgiving heat of the summer. And so the older Digidestined started to tell stories about an adventure so long, yet so short, that started over five years ago, even getting their partners out of the bag so they could join. So that way Davis, Yolei and Cody can finally be a part of the loop.
Reactions varied amongst the story. Telling everything from their first camping days on File Island, from the appearance of the Dark Rings.
"Woah, I did all of that seriously happen? And just at the beginning? I can't believe it!" Davis commented.
Their travel to the Server Continent and the constant chasing of Etemon while they looked for the Crests. The time when Tai and Killua were sent to Tokyo while the others stayed behind, and how after returning they faced Myotismon.
"I knew Mimi and Sora had it in them to go back," Yolei said happily, after hearing how the two girls almost stayed away from the group.
They told everything that happened when Myotismon came to earth to look for Kari, and how Tai and Matt achieved the Mega Level for the first time. Then everything that happened with the Dark Masters, including how Puppetmon became a temporary ally and how he sacrificed himself for Killua, and how him alone defeated Piedmon.
"I see, so that's why you decided to make Killua the leader," Cody said after hearing the battles the Anomaly had.
And finally Apocalymon and how they managed to avoid the destruction of both worlds.
Battles, adventures, laughter and tears. Everything shared on what seemed to be a relaxing, and normal day for the group.
Yet some parts were left out. Parts including details about the Digidestined's personal lives, like Sora's conflict with her mom, or Tai's neglect on Kari years ago. And of course, Killua's past.
The boy leaned on the trunk of the tree as the rest of the team wrapped the story up, gazing up at the leaves at the leaves and the few sun rays seeping through them. 'When Ken is dealt with, I will come out clean. No point in hiding it, specially since I'll stick around with them again until I find a way home...' He turned to see the group laughing without a care in the world, and a smile formed on his lips. 'Not that I'm complaining.'
Rewinding the video, om Fuji Tv station, Charlie and his assistant hoped to find the source behind the mysterious shadow on their recording. The program proceed as normal on certain scenes, but in other the shadow would appear. "There it is again!" Charlie complained, flinching and holding his head on his hands in despair.
"I don't get it, it doesn't make sense, from any point of view," The capped assistant said as he swirled around on his chair to face the panicking man. "This is a recording, taken with different cameras for different shots, and none of them caught sight of this shadow."
"My first job as a director and this happens?!" Charlie mumbled as he pressed his hands against his face.
Then, the door was slammed open and a technician came through. "You guys!" The man said, catching his breath. "You gotta see this!"
The man guided the other two to the main broadcast room. All of them showing the images of various programs, and all of them having that mysterious shadow over them.
"It isn't only our recording..." The assistant said, as he looked with a sense of horror at the screens. "It's everywhere. It's almost as if the station it's..." He trailed off, realizing the absurdity of his statement.
"The station is what?" Charlie asked, trying to accept any explanation.
"Cursed," The man said with a flat tone. "It's almost as if the station is cursed."
"Okay that's bull!" Charlie said, looking at the screen. "This whole building was rebuilt and upgraded after what happened 5 years ago. There's no way it's all cursed... Right?"
Yet, despite all of his denials. The proof was there. The form of a ghostly figure over the screens, with glowing yellow eyes.
The sun was starting to set, the color of the sky changing to an orange one. Ferris travelled across the river calmly, and the Digidestined were ready to wrap their reunion up.
"Okay, I think this is it," Davis said, looking over the railing. "I don't think my head can deal with more stories."
"What do you mean?" Tai asked, as the rest of the group looked over the railing to watch the river.
"I mean, from devils to singers, to vampires, to clows, puppets, cyborgs, and the apocalypse?!" Davis listed, scratching the back of his head. "Man compared to all that, Ken is only an ant!"
"If it weren't for the towers, you would've dealt with him a long time ago!" Yolei said, making punching motions with one hand while holding Poromon with the other.
"I'm sure you guys will deal with him soon," Matt said.
"Nen user or not, I'm sure Ken is nowhere the level of a Mega," Killua chuckles, crossing his arms. "That's why he hides behind a tower."
"That reminds me..." Cody said looking at their white haired leader. "Umm, Killua? The others told us that they were in the summer camp when they went to the Digital World, but what about you? You said you were walking on a city at night. Why though?"
"That my friend is a whole 'nother can of worms to be open," Killua said as he ran a hand through his hair. "I'll tell you some time later; It's getting late, and storytime is over. And Davis might get a short-circuit if I tell it."
"Hey!"
"It's true."
"But you shouldn't say it..." The boy grumbled.
"Now that you have heard of what we've done, it's you guys turn to do your best," Sora said with a smile.
"We'll do it, but it's not going to be easy..." Yolei said. Remembering both Ken's power and Blademon's ability.
"No one said it would be," Joe said. "But we have faith you guys will do it." He accentuate this by giving a slap to Davis' back, which caused him to almost lose his balance and fell in the water.
Luckily for him, Killua grabbed the back of his shirt and pulled him back, prompting the chuckles of the group, and just a small smile from Killua.
He was right. Spending times like this was nice.
As night fell, the Ishida-Takaishi brothers gathered on the former's home to spend the night during this time of nostalgia.
"It's been a long time since I've been here, and each time it looks even more messy," T.K said, Patamon in arms, as he entered the apartment where his dad and brother lived.
Matt shrugged as he put his hands on his hips. "What can I say? This is what happens when two men live together."
Tsunomon popped from Matt's bag. "Matt, can Patamon and I go play some games?"
Matt chuckled. "Sure go ahead you two." Now with permission, the two orange Digimon hopped and flapped respectively to the older teen's room. "With so many free time, he has gained a liking to all my videogames..."
T.K knelt and start picking some of the things scattered across the floor. He looked up at Matt with a sheepish smile. "Want me to help you wash some of these?"
Matt snatched the discarded clothes from his brother's hands. "Hey, no need for that. Really. Man, you act the same as five years ago."
T.K tilted his head at that comment. "How so?"
"Don't you remember?" Matt asked, slightly amused. "You came to stay the night the day before we went to the camp."
T.K's eyes widened as he remembered. Because both him and Matt were going together to the same place, his mother actually accepted him to stay over with his dad.
"I remember that when I saw you I thought: Man, my little brother is a mama's boy. He must be get everything he wants just by clapping," Matt said in a teasing tone. "Do you, little guy?"
T.K scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "N-no... At least I don't think so. And I'm not that little anymore."
Matt let out a small chuckle. "Whatever you say squirt," He said putting the clothes in place. "Come to think of it... It wouldn't be a bad idea for someone to take care of this place." He muttered as he moved away from the clothes and to the kitchen.
"You want someone to take care of you?" T.K tilted his head.
"You want to get hit?" Matt asked back with a smirk, causing the boy to chuckle. "Okay then, wanna get something to eat? Though, don't expect much, we haven't done supper in a while." He walked to the fridge and started to rummage through the ingredients.
"Well, I think anything you would be good enough," T.K said.
Matt smirked as an idea came to mind. "Oh yeah?"
Minutes later, both brothers were gulping their glasses of water after finishing their dinner. The dish that Matt prepared being something done with every spicy spice he could get his hands on.
"Welp, can't say I'm hungry anymore," T.K said, panting in relief as the water refreshed his tongue. "Is this what you and dad usually eat?"
"Nah, today I made an exception just for our special guest," Matt replied with a smirk. "Since we couldn't do this so often before, only around this time of the year, I thought 'hey why not?'"
T.K snorted and facepalmed. "Well then, as long as is once in a year," He said with a chuckle.
Further conversation was interrupted when the father of the two, Hiroaki Ishida, entered the house with shuffled footsteps. "I'm home."
"Hi dad," Matt waved off-handedly.
"Oh, hey dad!" T.K was more enthusiastic at greeting their dad.
"Oh hi T.K," The man said, trying to bring out the same enthusiasm as the boy, but his corporal language showed how tired he was. "Right, today is that day, isn't it?"
"Don't tell me you forgot?" Matt asked, arching an eyebrow as he pulled a chair for the man to sit.
With a sigh, Hiroaki slumped down on the chair with sheer tiredness. "Ugh, yeah, you can say that..." He put his elbows on the table and grabbed his head on his hands.
Noticing his attitude, T.K's concern for the man grew. "Is everything okay at work?"
"Did Myotismon destroyed the building again?" Matt asked, trying to lift the mood for his dad.
His intention worked as the man let out a snort, before shaking his head. "No it's not that, at the very least I'd known what's happening," he explained. "Strange things have been happening on the station. Many of my staff members, heck even myself, have been seeing weird stuff around the building."
"Weird... How?" Matt asked. After everything they've lived, they certainly needed a division on what level of weirdness they were dealing.
"Well..." He got of and started shuffling around the table. "Let's say I'm walking around the hallways when suddenly I hear something behind my back, and when I turn around," He turned around for emphasis, "there's nothing there."
"Maybe it's just a prank?" T.K said.
"Maybe," Hiroaki responded and crossed his arms while leaning against a wall. "But then there's also the screens. All of our new equipment has recordings of a shadow we've never recorded."
"Well..." Matt tapped his chin with a finger. "Maybe they just didn't noticed that they did record it?"
"That's what one would assume. But then it wasn't only one recording, but several. First a documental, then a music video, a talk show and so on," The father continued to explain. "It's almost as if the station was now haunted. Sometimes it touches the screen, as if trying to get out..."
"Y-you... Really thing it's a ghost?" T.K asked a bit nervously. "It sounds weird, even for us."
"You think?" The man laughed tiredly. "Try living it, son..."
"And what's with the disc player?" Matt asked, noticing the device on the table. "Relaxing music?"
"Eeeeh... Something like that..." The man admitted. "One of my staff members is a bit superstitious so he gave me a copy of a chant that is said to scare ghost away."
"Pfff, come on that, you should know better than that, dad," Matt said getting off the table. "I have practice. I'll be home soon, don't worry." He said getting out of the department.
T.K took off his hat and scratched the back of his head. "I should take a bath before going to bed," He said, getting off the table.
Now alone, Hiroaki let out a sigh. "Maybe they're right. A tape won't help," He noticed a third plate full of food. "Welp time to eat."
He took a bite from the dish and that's all it took before his face took on a deep shade of red and he let out a shriek that resonated out of the building.
"Okay I got you!" Kari said as she threw a punc, but Killua dodged and grabbed her arm, twisting it behind her. "Agh!"
"You were saying?" The Hunter asked, quirking an eyebrow and pushing Kari forward, so that way she couldn't kick him while he was behind her.
Kari turned and took various swings to try and hit the Hunter, but Killua dodged all of them with no effort, Kari crouched and tried to swept his legs, but he jumped and avoided it. She took advantage of her crouching position to spring upwards and try to headbutt him on the chin, but Killua leaned back and kicked her away.
She stumbled backwards until she finally end up falling on her rear, panting and covered in dirt. "This is getting harder..." She said, panting.
"It's not getting harder, I'm just actually putting some effort," Killua explained, crossing his arms. "You've managed to adapt to a fighting style, while not on my level, or Ken's, you are improving." He said and also looked at the side. 'At a really rapid pace, honestly. I actually thought adapting her to fight could take longer...'
He looked at her, she was resting on her back while trying to catch her breath. 'Could it be that she's a prodigy in this?' He wondered. "Okay, that's enough for now, rest a bit so we can go back."
"O-Osu..." She panted and sat back up. She stared at his back as he stretched his muscles after the battle and drank from a bottle of water. "Say, Killua?"
"Yes?"
"When am I going to learn Nen?" She asked, trying to not sound impatient or petulant.
Killua turned to her and seemed to think about the question for a moment. "Hmmm... After we beat Ken."
"... Eh?" She blinked after the answer was processed. Once it did, she sprang back to her feet. "B-but wouldn't it be better for me to learn, before that?! That way I can help."
Killia sighed. "Kari, while you have really improved in your training, Ken's ability with his Nen is really advanced. Even to the point where he already has a technique of his own. Even if I teach you how to use it, right now, you wouldn't have the same level of skills as me or him."
"I... I see..." She mumbled, looking down as the information sank in. "But then, what will I do with Nen after beating Ken? There won't be anything to fight... Maybe..." She said, after she thought of those creatures on that dark beach.
Killua shrugged. "I still have to find a way back home. Some extra help won't be bad."
Kari blinked and looked down to consider what he just said. It was true, when they beat Ken they'll have to find a way to send Killua back. A selfish part of her didn't wanted her friend to go away after five years, it would be like saying goodbye to Gatomon again after they win. But she obviously knows he has to go back, with his sister... Speaking of which.
"Killua, could you tell me about what you did before meeting us?" She asked.
The Hunter blinked at the question. "Why the sudden interest?"
"Well, today we only told stories about our time on the Digital World, but I think you did many things even before that!" She said with an excited tone. "Or like Cody said, why were you on a city at night."
Killua crossed his arms and frowned a bit. "Well... I guess it doesn't hurt to tell..." Leaving his past aside for the moment. He isn't sure how they'll react to him being an assassin, the others took it pretty well the first time around, but no one says it will happen again. It could cause a fall out and that's the last thing they need with Ken on the loose. "What do you wanna know?"
Kark hummed and sat down. "How about... How did you became a Hunter or how did you learn Nen?"
'Simple enough, okay then,' He sat down in front of her. "I wanted to be a Hunter because I heard the test was hard, but actually for me it was kind of easy..." He said, trying to not to gloat on the fact that he breezed through the test without a hitch, just until the end. "And during the first phase, I met this boy named Gon..."
And so, they spend the rest of their remaining time training with Killua telling her most of the things he did before going to the Digital World. Time was short, so Killua only got to tell her about the Hunter Exams and Heavens Arena, but through it all Kari never interrupted him.
By the time they had to go back, the Child of Light could only look at her leader with a new sense of admiration. 'I knew he was strong. But to go through those places like it's something normal. Maybe he is something like a superhero after all.' It was a silly thought she had since she was a kid about the Hunter, but after what she heard maybe it wasn't far from the truth.
August 2.
On Fuji Tv, Charlie and his editor where on their last rope. They've gone through every purging program to try and erase the shadow of the image, to no avail. If this doesn't work... "Well... Here we go..." The editor said playing the record.
Everything went normal for a while. Everything seemed in order. No weird images, no shadows, or ghosts... But then almost at the end of the recording, the shadow appeared again.
"NOT AGAIN!" They chorused, with Charlie jumping out of his chair.
"We've done everything we can," The editor said. "But this program has to come out after tomorrow."
"Are you saying we have to just air it like this?!" Charlie asked. "My first job as a director and a shadow appears in the end?! I'll be known as The Haunted Director!" He said, waterfalls of tears almost filling the room.
"Excuse me..." They both snapped out of their depression to see a robust man with a boom box in hand. "Maybe this might help."
"Jeremiah, I swear to God, if it's another of your chanting bullshit-" Charlie started.
"Play it!" The editor said, much to Charlie's surprise. "We've tried pretty much everything! Exorcising it might work!"
Charlie sighed. "Whatever." Jeremiah connected the boom box and pressed the play button, but nothing came out of the box at all. "Really? Now you bring us a broken box?"
"No way, it was working a few moments ago," Jeremiah tried to say, as he pressed the play button over and over.
"...A...To..."
"Hm?" Charlie and the editor perked up as they heard something. "Wow, that's some good audio. It's almost as if it comes from the room," Charlie said.
"The box isn't doing it..." Jeremiah admitted. "That isn't my tape."
The two men's spines went cold as he said this.
"This... Is coming from that," Jeremiah said, pointing to the screen of the panel with the recording.
Slowly they turned to face the screen. And just as the man said, the words were coming from it. "G...on...Tomon...Ato..."
The three men trembled in the spot as all the screens showed the silhouette of the shadow, as the words echoed all around the room. With totally male screams, they bolted out of the room to inform of the situation. And to run away from the room that was totally possessed by a ghost.
Had they stayed a few more moments, they would had heard more of what the 'ghost' was trying to say.
"Gato... mon... It's... Me!"
"Sir!" Hiroaki's assistant bursted through the door with a frantic expression, startling the man. "We have a problem!"
"A new one?" The man sighed and put his pen down. "What is it?"
"It's the same shadow!" She informed. "Now we don't only see it, now we can apparently hear it!"
"What?!" Hiroaki shot up from his chair and followed the woman to see, or hear this, for himself.
"Tokyo Tower!" Mimi gushed as she saw the giant monument. "I've been wanting to see it for a long time now!"
"It's look like nothing ever happened to it," Sora said with hands on her hips. "As if a Digimon never tried to melt it."
Yolei looked at the tower up and down. "I can see what you're saying... I can't believe you guys actually fought in this same place."
"It was a nightmare," Mimi said, though she still carried a happy tone. "We were running around all of Tokyo to stop the bad Digimon from hurting many."
"I heard the news... I think, I was really small," Yolei admitted. "But it never mentioned anything about Digimon."
"I think they would have thought it was too crazy to say a man on fire, a dinosaur, a fairy and a bird were flying on top of the tower," Sora shrugged. "They would have chalked it off as a movie production."
"Such an absurdity on that phrase and yet it's all true," Mimi giggled, causing the same effect on her friends.
As Joe was still on classes for collage, Matt and T.K walked through the Shibuya district.
The older brother smiled as he observed the busy streets. "As always, Shibuya is never stopping."
T.K nodded, but stopped as he spotted a particular showcase. "Oh, this place is..."
The showcase was one that him, his brother, and Killua encountered on their time in Tokyo five years ago. Two mischievous Digimon, Gotsumon and Pumpkinmon, had sneaked inside of the store and started wearing dresses.
They could almost see them again, goofing inside and inviting them to play with total innocence, despite working with one of their worst enemies—Myotismon.
Matt gave a sad smile. "This place is also filled with good friends, right?"
"Yeah..." T.K nodded and turned to his brother. "Think we should've invited Killua?"
"Maybe. Though he might get a bit moody, you know how he is."
"Oh look who's talking!"
"Achoo!" Killua covered his face in time as the sneeze escaped.
"Bless you," Davis mumbled from the floor, while also glaring at the Hunter. Why? He was seating next to Kari on Tai's bed, while he was on the floor with Cody and Izzy, Tai was on his chair and Agumon was on the top bunk. Enough said from him.
"Thanks," He mumbled and ran a finger under his nose. "Sorry 'bout that, Izzy. I didn't want to interrupt."
"Don't worry about it," He said. "As I was saying, I just wanted to confirm something about the Digiport," He said getting up and walking to Tai's computer. "We already confirmed that the Digiport can be opened in other computers, aside from the one in the computer room. I want to open gates in our homes, just in case," He looked at the three owners of the D-3. "Does somebody offers."
"Sure, here I go," Davis said, getting up the floor and walking to the computer. He got out his blue device and pointed it to the screen. "Digiport Open!"
A few moments passed and everyone gathered around the computer to see it happen, and then on the empty screen suddenly the program of the Digiport appeared, green light ready and showing the image of a forest.
"Cool, it worked!" Davis fist bumped the air. "Shall we go? Call the others and go?"
"No," Killua answered as he looked at the screen. "While it is a good idea to have more theses on the ready, if you guys go, and your parents enter the room and you're not there, then all hell will break loose. Just like with Ken."
They grimaced at the remainder of that day and at the image of the same happening on their homes if their parents entered only to find an empty room.
"Well then, what can we do?" Cody asked. "We can't go to the computer room until the earlier grades stop using it. And I'm not even in those groups."
"We'll have to think of a new excuse for us to gather together on a place with a computer," Killua said with a sigh. "But with school that's going to be hard."
"Man, had we remembered this we could've gone to the Digital World yesterday for the anniversary," Tai said with a mock pout.
"Such a shame," Agumon sighed, his frame almost completely covered by the sheet on the bed.
Izzy seemed to take him seriously, as he scratched the back of his head. "Sorry, I didn't occured me before."
"Hey, don't worry Izzy, I was kidding," Tai said with a smile.
At that moment, Killua's ears perked up as he heard a door opening and closing. "I think your mom is-"
"I'm home!" Yuuko's voice called out.
"-Home." He turned to the Digimon. "Hide, under the bed. Now."
Without needing to be told twice, Gatomon and the two In-Trainings hid under the bed, while Agumon covered himself with the bedsheets.
The mother entered the room, smiling as she saw the guesses. "Hello kids, what's the occasion?"
"Oh just some homework for the summer," Tai explained. "We were just about to get to it."
"I see then, good luck," She said getting out of the room.
"Welp, that was a close one," Killua sighed. "We can think of ways to go to the Digital World later, for now let's get everything ready for tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?" Cody asked. "Are we going somewhere?"
Kari nodded. "Yup, a place that hold a significant moment for us." As she said this, Gatomon got out of the bed and smiled at her, knowing what she meant.
August 3.
New and old generation gathered once again to visit one last place on their nostalgia trip. A place where one of their most important battles took place.
"Fuji Tv?" Davis asked, his arms folded behind his back and Demiveemon on his head. "Why there?"
"Have you already forgotten?" Yolei asked, giving him a stinking eye. "They fought against the Digimon that caused the mist on Odaiba."
"Yup, and Fuji Tv is the place where we beat him... Twice!" Killua explained with a small smirk. Killing Myotismon has to he the most satisfying thing he's done in a while.
The previous' Digidestined's partners stood behind this time. Unable to go to their In-Training forms, they would call the attention this time around.
As they got near the building, the sky began to cloud on an unnatural way. It was clear one moment and the next, dark clouds just gathered over the building.
The group stopped in front of the building the moment they noticed the abnormal behavior of the weather.
"Why did it got dark all of a sudden?" Kari wondered, looking up at the sky.
Thunder started to rumble from the clouds and a lighting struck it, causing the lights in it to go out. Inside of the building the workers were starting to panick, both due to the blackout and because of a far more terrifying reason.
Even without energy, all of the computers were glowing and showing the image of the shadow that's being tormenting the workers for days. And it wasn't only the computers, every screen on the building was doing the same.
Hiroaki ran out of his office, ready to get out of the apparently haunted building like his co-workers, until he heard a voice coming from his computer. "Gato...Mon... It's... Me!'As he heard the voice, he recognized the name it was mentioning. "Gatomon?"
Back outside, the group observed as the people ran in terror from whatever was happening in the inside. "Jeez, are they really that afraid of the dark?" Matt murmured.
Gatomon however was staring intently to the building, her ears twitching as she seemed to hear something. "That voice... It sounds... Familiar," She said. Then, her eyes widened. "Could it be-!"
She took off running to the building, much to everyone's surprise. "Gatomon, wait!" Kari called and ran after her, followed by all the others.
Inside of the building, all at once the computers and televisions went on. Showing the image in every single one of them. At the top of the building on the spherical part, all of the available computers focused their light on the center.
After taking the long run through the stairs, Gatomon reached the top and stared as the computers started to gave form to the shadow. "It is you..."
The kids managed to reach her, though the less athletic ones like Joe, Izzy and Yolei, stood behind to try and regain some breath.
"What the heck is up with the light show?!" Killua asked as he looked at all of the computers.
"Davish!" Demiveemon said from his partner's arms. "Be careful, the one responsible for this is a Digimon!"
"Say what now?!" Davis asked.
"He is right!" Poromon said, flapping out of Yolei's hands. "Stay behind us!"
All three of them stood protectively in front of the group. And in that moment, the new kids' Digivice started to glow.
"Demiveemon Digivolves to... V-Mon!"
"Poromon Digivolves to... Hawkmon!"
"Upamon Digivolves to... Armadillomon!"
The three Rookies got into fighting positions to defend their partners and friends, while the humans all gave them amazed looks. "They can actually evolve normally?!" Mimi exclaimed.
"Well, with the Control Towers we didn't exactly had the time to test it out..." Killua mused.
"If a Digimon it's here then it can't be good news!" Armadillomon said. "Let's get ready to rumble!" The other two nodded and were ready to charge forward.
"Wait!" Gatomon said, putting herself between them, much to their surprise. She turned to address the shadow. "C'mon... I know you are calling to me. I don't know how you're doing this, but if you can... Show yourself... Wizardmon!"
Shock ran through the group as they heard the name—Specially the veterans. The shadow started forming in front of Gatomon until it started to take a form that resembled that of her old friend. "H-h-hey there, G-G-G-Gatomon..." His voice sounded glitchy, almost as if it was a call with bad reception.
"Wizardmon... It is you!" She said in happiness, but then she frowned. "But how..."
"N-N-N-New P-P-P-Power..." He explained quickly.
"That's... The guy you mentioned, Gatomon's friend right?" Davis asked, recalling the stories.
"Yes but..." Patamon said. "We haven't heard from him since before the Emperor attacked."
"Wizardmon... Where are you, are you okay?!" Gatomon asked in despair.
"I'm f-f-fine... S-S-Safe... This P-P-P-Power... Takes E-E-Effort," He explains. "Listen... I have a w-w-warning."
"A warning?" The cat asked.
"T-T-T-The Emperor... He is p-p-planning something b-b-big," He said.
The group now was paying attention to everything that came out of his mouth.
"What is it? What is he planning?" Gatomon asked.
"I don't have much t-t-time," He explained. "T-t-trust me... When we meet a-a-again." His form started to flicker out of existence.
"W-wait!" Gatomon tried to grab his figure. "Wizardmon, don't go!"
"Don't worry... We'll meet again," He promised, as he finally vanished.
Gatomon dropped to her knees and sniffed as tears pooled on her eyes. "But... Wizardmon..."
Two arms wrapped around her and lift her up. "It's okay Gatomon..." Kari whispered as she snuggled her face on the top of her head. "Now we know he is okay..."
Silence filled the room as they processed what they've been told. The Emperor was planning something, something big. But what could that be?
Before any more thinking could be made, a voice called from behind them. "Hey..." Hiroaki said as he looked at the group with wide eyes.
"D-Dad!" Matt and T.K yelped. They've been caught.
Killua sighed. "Guys you... Explain it to him, cat's out of the bag anyway," He told the brothers. "And speaking of cat... Now we know two thigs."
"Two?" Cody asked.
"One: Everything weird that happens in life is Digimon related," He said, trying to lift the mood a bit, with some success seeing some smiles. "And second... Ken is probably preparing his Endgame... And we need to be ready."
Gatomon, in Kari's arms, nodded. "Yeah. Wizardmon took great effort to warn us, we can't let it go to waste!"
Everyone nodded and stared outside of the building through the various windows in the sphere. They needed to find a way to go back to the Digital World during this times without a computer room, and prepare for whatever Ken has ready for them.
Blademon walked to the Emperor's control room, the boy himself sitting on his throne watching the screens. "You called, my lord?"
"... Blademon..." The Emperor said slowly. "Explain this..." He tapped a button and all the screens converted in a single one. That screen showed Blademon entering the room and hacking into the CHIMERA file.
Blademon didn't said anything, which prompted Ken to continue. "After Wormmon freed Agumon a few months back, I decided to plant cameras all over the place without telling you... It seems it paid off," He got up his throne and glared at Blademon with pure fury as his Ren exploded. "Something to say for yourself you vermin?!"
"... Nothing at all..." He said and summoned his sword.
"Stinger Attack!" From the ceiling, pink stingers rained on the hooded Digimon, who used his sword to bat them away. Stigmon revealed himself, his features face not betraying anything as he stared at the traitor.
"I'm sad, Blademon... I thought we were friends," The Emperor said, taking off his gloves."
"No... No you didn't," The Reaper answered back as he readied his sword.
"... You're right..." The Emperor lunged forward to attack.
Blademon was faster and stabbed his sword on the floor, creating a blinding light that stopped the Emperor and Stigmon on their tracks.
When the light was gone, Blademon was nowhere to be found.
"Damn coward!" The Emperor hissed.
"Should I mobilize the troops?" Stigmon asked.
The Emperor took a deep breath and shook his head. "No, no. Let him run and hide like a rat," He said as he walked to his throne. "When my project is complete... He won't be able to do so anymore..." He said, as he opened the file and smirked at the schematics of his plan.
Wormmon betrayed him by freeing Agumon, now Blademon did too. These insects didn't know their place... But creating a new one from scrap, design to listen to him only. Will give him the power to finally control this world.
He redubbed the file, from Project CHIMERA to project KIMERAMON.
"Welp. That happened."
"Reviews. Give me. Now."
"What did you thought of this chapter? What did you liked, what did you disliked?"
"Oh, and also. I'd like if you checked my Routed story... Just to know what you think of it."
"'Kay, thank you, bye."
