"Time to respond some review!"
"Zero Fullbuster: Aw shucks, I know I can always count on your review. Thanks buddy."
"Cecebeec: No, no, no. You don't have to apologize for giving me a long review; those are the ones I adore the most. Hope I can get a new one from you this chapter."
"Felipe1402XZA: Yup he's coming~ as for the paper thing... It just didn't occured to me... Oops."
"Whataboringlife: At first I didn't understood your review; I thought you were talking about the Digidestined not knowing of Killua being an assassin and underestimating him. Then I realized you were talking about Arukenimon. Yeah, typical minion that's on a 'need to know basis'"
Anonymous: Cool review.
Water flowed out of a bathtub, a solitary figure sitting in it with eyes almost death to the world. The scenery was a bizarre one, because the bathtub was on a cliff overlooking a field full of Control Towers.
Arukenimon, the woman in red, was soaking her body on the water as her wounds were starting to heal after the battle from the previous day. Those damn kids, humiliate her using such trivial things like pepper and insecticide! And that fake Emperor even used a fly paper to catch her!
But then... Then the Anomaly happened.
Those eyes... Those eyes held no mercy towards her. If it wasn't for his stupid friends stopping him from acting, spewing nonsense about locking her away to stop her, then he... He would have gone through it. He would have killed her without even giving a second thought.
Aside from him being Blademon's partner, she actually doesn't know much about the Anomaly. She wondered why the master sent that brat she took to be the one to beat him, but now she was making herself an idea.
That boy was dangerous. He wasn't bounded by the same morality as the other brats. She could claim that Ichijouji was the same but there was a difference. Where Ichijouji would carry such actions with shame, the Anomaly wouldn't give them a second thought. If he is left unchecked, then he will become the true threat for their plans.
The master has crippled him however, and he doesn't even know. Without his partner, the Anomaly would never reach his full potential. Neither of them will. If Blademon goes out of control, he won't be able to ascend any further without the help of his precious partner.
From behind her, Mummymon climbed down the car and made his way to her with a new dress for her, exactly like her old one. "Arukenimon, how's the bath?"
He went ignored. She gritted her teeth and her glare turned to the skies. "Digidestined... Anomaly..."
The Digidestined were still a problem, nonetheless. Even without Anomaly. Ichijouji for example, has somehow made his partner evolve to the Ultra Level. Are all of them capable of that? From what her master told her, two of them were --The Children of Light and Hope-- But how about the other three?
She had to get rid of them. And soon. To accelerate their plans.
Mummymon appeared on her field of vision. "How's the bath?"
Arukenimon didn't responded. Her left eye twitched.
"So?" He continued, as if nothing was wrong. "I'm waiting... How is it?"
She finally got up, revealing all her naked glory. "Would you shut up!?" She asked, grabbing him by the neck of his coat, the she threw him to the yellow car. "I am thinking!"
Poor Mummymon was lucky enough to soar over the car and land on the backseat, his right foot landing on the wheel's foghorn. The dresss he make floating in the air, carried by the wind. Arukenimon grabbed and in an instant clothed herself, going back to her old self.
She panted in rage, specially when the blaring sound of the horn continued to rang. "SHUT THAT THING UP!" She screeched.
Groaning, Mummymon complied. He moved his foot out of the wheel.
The woman looked at the tower filled field, her mind still full with rage. "Damn those Digidestined!"
Footsteps echoed behind her, becoming wet when they stepped on the overflowing water. "So..." She turned around to see Blademon standing there with arms crossed. "Are your boo-boos better?"
She snarled. "What do you want!?" She demanded.
Blademon gave her a flat stare behind his hood and he turned around. "The master has agreed to yout request. There's a TV nearby where we can talk to him."
The demeanor of the woman changed entirely at this, and even the dazed Mummy's sat up straighter at hearing about their master.
They walked around the cliff to one of the many TV scattered across the Digital World. The screen came to life at first with static, before the image of the human behind all of this disasters were shown. "Arukenimon, glad to see you're injuries have healed."
"Master," She gave a small bow, which was mimicked by the other two.
"So," He laid his head on his fist. "You wanted to ask me something?"
Arukenimon frowned, collecting her thoughts to say everything she wanted to say. "Master... Who's the Anomaly with exactitude?"
Blademon bared his fangs at the mention of his treacherous partner, but kept his mouth shut in the presence of his master.
Oikawa let out a chuckle. "I see you've seen the true nature of the Anomaly," He said. "Well... That boy comes from a renown family of assassins. He has killed since he has the use of reason. And yet he has forsaken a live in the darkness for one where he thinks he pretends to do good, such a shame..." He tooted.
"That explains that aura he was exhibing," The woman growled, then she straightened to look at her master. "Sir, I want to commence with the second part of the plan. And start the creation of the weapon."
Oikawa raised an eyebrow, Blademon then narrowed his eyes. "Mind your words, witch. Our towers are limited, wasting such a big number before the master-"
"I'll allow it," Oikawa said, taking the Digimon by surprise.
"Sir?" Blademon said in surprise.
Oikawa smiled. "Just one half," He said. "Create one half," Then he turned to Blademon. "I believe you have secured an area to keep the other half safe?"
"Yes my master," Blademon nodded.
"Then it's up to you, Arukenimon, to find the number of towers needed to create the first half," Oikawa said. "Blademon worked hard in securing a number of towers for one of the pieces, if you fail on this endeavor then all his hard work would go to waste."
Blademon smiled, sincerely smiled, at the praise from the human, while Arukenimon sneered at the hooded Digimon. Such a kiss-ass.
"I understand," She said. "I will find the towers needed."
"Good," Oikawa nodded, then his smile dropped and he gave the woman a threatening glare. His eyes momentarily blue. "Do not fail me."The image vanished, leaving the three Digimon with different feelings.
Blademon felt pride over the master appreciating his work. Mummymon was nervous, as always when he met with the man, and Arukenimon... For the second time in less than twenty four hours she was feeling scared for her life.
"Fire Lariat!"
"Flying Chainsaw!"
"Missile Storm!"
"Hand of Fate!"
"Neko Punch!"
Killua heard from afar how the Digimon were all giving their all in destroying the towers on the forest, with a small smirk on his face. He wasn't falling behind, as he rammed against Control Towers as if they were nothing using precise strikes of Ko with his fists. With a nice weather, and no worries or signals from the woman in red, today he just felt on a good mood.
And that wasn't the only good thing from that day.
"Stinger Attack!" He heard the yell of Stigmon's attack and a tower toppling over.
BOOM!
He also heard a different explosion, courtesy of Ken using some heavy artillery to take down the towers on his own. His ability basically making him a walking-talking inventory of weapons. Although, the heavier they were the more effort it took him, but that didn't seemed to be stopping him now. And the more towers they could bring down the better, so no one would hear Killua complaining about the exploding sounds around the area.
It was a pleasant surprise that Ken had decided to joined the group on their daily tower destruction. The events of the giant house seemed to have make him more open on working together with them. And if it could continue like this, then he would be a part of the group full time, hopefully.
Soon enough, the clearing they were in was a Tower free zone. Another day of good work, but they still had a long way to go before the Digital World was finally free from the dark obelisks.
"Hey everyone!" He heard Davis call from the top of a tree. "How about some rest!?"
Killua sighed and his aura dissipated. "Sound good," He said with an exhale.
Flamedramon landed at the feet of the tree were Davis had climbed and he regressed back to being V-Mon, turning to see his partner with excitement. "A break?"
"Yup!" He said with a thumbs up. "Good job, pal!"
Kari walked near the base of the tree with her hands behind her back. "I'm starting to feel a little hungry."
"Yeah, me too," Gatomon nodded at her side
T.K approached them with Patamon laying on his head. "I think I saw a vending machine nearby," He said.
Patamon stepped on the edge of T.K's hat eagerly, causing the boy's vision to be blocked momentarily. "Let's get some!" He said excitedly.
"I'm going too," Killua said, as he approached them with his arms folded behind his back. "All this work has made me thirsty."
"Sounds great," Gatomon said, leaping on Kari's shoulder. "Let's go, lead the way."
"Hey, I'm going too!" Davis said, trying to carefully climb down the tree.
"Don't worry about it, Davis," Kari said. "We will bring drinks for everyone. You can stay."
Davis stopped as he heard what Kari said. "Eh? B-but I," He wanted to go to spend time with her. She was leaving with those two! And he hasn't tried anything recently to spend quality time with her!
"What flavor would you like?" T.K asked with a smile, while to the side Killua noticed Davis reaction and gave a headshake of amusement.
Davis huffed in jealousy and turned his head to the side. "Orange is fine."
Shrugging his attic off, the ground left to find the refreshments needed for the break, leaving a sulking Davis and a confused V-Mon. "Why are you so mad, Davith?"
Davis dramatically sniffed and dropped his head. "For nothing," He moaned in despair.
"Oh, come on. I can tell something is bothering you," V-Mon said. "I'm your partner, you can tell me."
"It is nothing!" He snapping turning his head to the side. "Just this life being really unfair!"
His words caught someone else by surprise. Yolei had come to check on him and the others, and now she's found him up in a tree, sulking. "Ummm, what's gotten into you?" She asked, blinking at the sight.
Davis' jerked at hearing a new voice and looked down to see the girl giving him a puzzled look. "Oh, hey Yolei."
"You don't seem to be acting like yourself," She said. "Are you sick? Is it contagious? Should I wear a mask?"
"Oh shaddup, now you're just mocking me," He snapped, turning his head to the side.
The girl gave him a big grin, showing that she was, in fact, messing with the boy. "Now that does look more like your usual self," She joked. The her face turned serious. "But there's something I wanted to discuss with you. I think we might be having a problem."
Davis blinked and leaped out of the three. "A problem? What did the woman appeared again?" He asked with a frown.
"No, it's something more... Intimate in our group," She said, looking down at Hawkmon who seemed to be as uncomfortable as his partner.
Davis and V-Mon blinked, then they looked at each other. Not knowing what Yolei was meaning with exactitude. "Okay then, I'll bite, what is it?" Her asked.
Yolei turned and gestured with her hand. "Follow me, you'll see by yourself."
"Hmmm... So, it's those two huh..." Davis mumbled as he watched behind a rock.
Cody and Ken were sitting on rocks, their respective partners on their laps, but the problem was that the rocks were meters apart and the two were trying as hard as they could to not watch the other's eyes.
"Those two haven't found a way to be around each other yet?" Davis asked, his face forming a frown of discomfort. "Damn, I thought they were over this after the house."
"Yeah, if they continue like this it will be impossible for us to keep working together," Yolei nodded, watching the awkwardness between the two boys. "And after you finally made some advance for Ken to join us, we can let it go to waste."
Davis quirked an eyebrow at her. "You seem really worked up about this," He said with a narrowed gaze. "Is there something I should know?"
"T-that's not of your business!" She said, her cheeks gaining a taint of red. "It's for the sake of the team!"
"Well, I can't discuss that," Davis said with a shrug, but kept a mental note to tease her later. "Sooo, how do we make them start working together? And make them get along for real in the process?"
Yolei beamed and leaned on him. "Well, I do have a plan," She whispered the plan on his ear and he nodded along. She stopped and smiled. "So?"
"Sounds great, and just our luck," He said walking out of the rock and pointing to a nearby tower. "There's the perfect target."
Hawkmon and V-Mon looked at their partners in curiosity, not being updated with the plan. They looked at each other before shrugging and playing along for now.
"Yo, Cody! Ichijouji!" Davis yelled, cupping his hands around his mouth, and calling their attention. The two of them turned curiously at him, while Yolei grabbed V-Mon and Hawkmon to hide behind the rock. Davis pointed to a Control Tower. "See that?! Flamedramon didn't have enough power to topple it down, can you do it for us?!"
The two boys turned around with confused expressions at the tower, while V-Mon peeked his head out of the rock with a livid expression. "That I couldn't against that measly tow-"
Yolei dragged him back tonthe the tower and pinned him against the rock while covering his mouth. She hissed at him. "Be quiet! This is all to make Cody and Ken work together, be quiet!"
V-Mon nodded frantically, both in understanding and a bit of fright at the expression on Yolei's face.
Ken and Cody were staring back at Davis with raised eyebrows. Both of them finding the boy's behavior completely strange.
Davis had a twitching eye as he scratched the back of his head. "Hehehehe, V-Mon... Good buddy, remember you were hungry and couldn't destroy that power at just half-power. Remember?!"
V-Mon slid out of the rock, scratching the back of his head with a nervous expression. "Yes, you're right Davith! My tummy is really empty!" The two chuckled nervously, although V-Mon added a real grumble from his stomach after a while. "Well now that you mention food..."
Ken and Cody exchanged looks and walked to the Control Tower. Cody brought out his D-Terminal and made Armadillomon evolve into Pteramon, while Ken merely raised his Digivice and Wormmon turned into Stigmon.
The two stood in front of the tower and the two Digimon charged at it with all of their strength. With Stigmon using his Stinger Attack, and Pteramon used his Sharp Wing attack. Almost in sink their extremities crashed on the tower, causing it to fell down and break into pieces.
The two dashed from the resulting smokescreen, and reverted back to their Rookie forms. The two exchanged looks, while from afar Yolei and Davis watched with expectant expressions. Eventually, both Armadillomon and Wormmon broke into smiles. "Hey, ya didn't do half-bad."
"Thank you, you did pretty good too!" Wormmon returned Armadillomon compliment and the two of them shook hands, or paws.
Hawkmon and V-Mon clapped their hands at the destruction of the tower the two of them made. Davis and Yolei, seeing the interaction between the two Digimon walked closer to the two boys to see if the plan had worked.
"Armadillomon and Wormmon seem to break the ice really well, but..." Davis said unsurely as he saw no response from his friends.
"Yeah," Yolei winced, noticing any lack of reaction and/or compliments between the two. "Those two aren't..."
They stopped a few inches behind them. Both boys were looking at the place where the tower once stood, with frowns on their faces.
The silence seemed to last an eternity, before it got into Davis' nerves. "Oh come on! You destroyed a tower together! Why can't you shake hands or say something nice!?"
"Davis!" Cody said, stopping the boy's rant. "That tower had nothing special, even if he was at half power Flamedramon could have take it down on his own."
"That's true," Ken nodded. "There was no need for us to intervene, and moreover we could have waited for the others to come and feed our partner to start again."
"W-well... That's," Davis tried to come up with a response at seeing the holes on their plan.
"We can't just evolve in a wim," Cody scolded. "We have to save our energies in case the woman in red—Arukenimon—appears again."
"Wait that wasn't on a wim, you little it was-" Yolei peeled her sleeves back and got ready to bonk him on the head, but Davis restrained her.
"Easy, easy there!" Davis sweatdropped at the fact that he, out of all people, had to be the one to calm her down.
Ken looked down with a solemn expression. "I had a feeling this was a bad idea... We aren't fit to work together," Trying to hide a saddened expression, he walked to Wormmon. "C'mon, let's go."
"Ken..." Wormmon muttered as he was hoisted by his partner.
Yolei and Davis watched him go with disappointment. "Ichijouji..."
Armadillomon was also sad at seeing them go. Just when he was starting to get along with the green bug. "Wormmon..."
Davis released Yolei as the girl fumed. Mad that her plan didn't worked at all as she planned. "Dang it!"
The armadillo turned to look at his partner, who kept looking in the direction where Ken went with a conflicted look. "Cody?"
The boy didn't said anything and instead looked away with a sigh.
Arukenimon watched the landscape filled with her beloved towers, she was on a bed pulled out of somewhere, thanks to Mummymon, with his partner in blue giving a massage to her back."The plan has been set in motion. This Digimon I'm about to create is our last opportunity to get rid of the Digidestined... If something were to happen to it."
She shuddered at the thought. She would be wasting many of the towers her master wanted for his plans. And then there would be hell to pay.
Her gaze went to the towers. Memories of the times she has used them coming to her mind. "With one I made a Champion," Like Golemon and Thundermon. "With ten I can make an Ultimate," Like Okuwamon. "So... For the first half of the weapon, we will need a hundred."
Mummymon looked up in thought at her words. "Then a hundred towers mean a hundred of Arukenimon's hair strands," He mumbled. He looked down at the silver hair of her associate. "Arukenimon's long, beautiful and soft hair strands."
Arukenimon turned to him with a glare and shot up from the bed, grabbing him by the neck of his coat. "What are you staring at!?" She then threw him to a nearby tower. "You fifty pervert!"
"GYAAAAaaaaah!" Mummymon's voice grew smaller as he fell into the forest below.
From the yellow car, Blademon watched the exchange with an amused look. "Yikes. And I thought the brat was abusive."
"You keep your mouth shut!" Arukenimon hissed, turning to him. "Unless you want me to cut your tongue!"
Blademon lazily raised his hand and his sword appeared in a wisp of blue flames. "You're welcome to try."
Arukenimon clenched her fists in rage. She wanted nothing more than to go there and break the arrogant brat with her own hands, but she wasn't stupid. As much as it pains her to admit, this scoundrel has become more powerful than her over the years. She scoffed. 'I hate this!'
In the forest below, Mummymon straightened himself while looking up with a confused expression. "Every time Arukenimon does something like this to me, I feel a warm feeling on my chest..." A red color expanded across his face in a flush. "Am I... In love with Arukenimon?"
Up in the cliff, Arukenimon climbed on the car and turned it on. Blademon got off the vehicle with a huff. "I am not going to this," He said. "Even if my wound is better, I do not want to be there when this blows back on your face. And that's a when, not an if," He chuckled.
Arukenimon glared daggers at him and let out a growl. Then she pressed the horn of the car. "MUMMYMON! GET UP HERE THIS INSTANT!"
Like a military soldier hearing a trumpet, Mummymon stood up with a salute. "I'm going!"
Partners in red and blue raced across the Digital World with a singled place in mind. Arukenimon found the perfect place to use a hundred towers, and keep more for further use. She will prove Blademon wrong, fulfill the master's plan, and destroy the Anomaly once and for all, along with the Digidestined. She could hardly wait to hear their screams of terror when her new creation destroys them. And without the Anomaly to worry about... She will fetch her newborn against that insufferable Blademon, that will teach the ungrateful brat who is the master's true masterpiece!
She ignored all of the other towers they passed by. None of them should be used for now, she had to keep them, she had a need for them. And once those kids were out of the way, they would soon fulfill their true use. She could almost envision it, an army of artificial Digimon ready to tear apart everything on their path, leaving nothing but destruction. Beautiful.
The car stopped as they entered a grassy, plain landscape, with a small hill at the top. Everywhere, everywhere around the landscape was filled with towers. From the edges of the forest, to the road to the top of the hill. It was beautiful in Arukenimon's eyes.
"Continue," She ordered and pointed to the cliff. "I want to have the best of views."
Mummymon didn't said anything and just hit the gas. The car moved around the towers to avoid crashing and eventually found its way to the top of the tower filled cliff. Both passengers dismounted and looked at the whole place with smiles on their faces.
Arukenimon chuckled and took one of the bangs of hair that decorated the sides of her face to her mouth. She started chewing on them. "The first half... A big and evil Digimon ready to follow my commands. A familiar figure for the Digidestined, to add to the irony for their destruction. And that will soon be our master's source of power to conquer both worlds, and those from beyond!"
She cackled like a witch and jumped high into the air. Her hair becoming rigid like those of a hedgehog before being shot in every direction and melting in the structures of the tower. "BE BORN! AND BRING US OUR LONG WAITED VICTORY!"
The needles stabbed themselves into the towers surrounding the hill, but didn't melted in right away. They will await her command. First... She had some children to pay a visit to.
Cody sat apart from the group, holding a can of tea on his hands and looking at it with a thoughtful expression. The rest of the group watched him with worry, with the ones who went to pick up the drinks having frowns on their faces at his attitude.
"I see, so that's what happened," T.K muttered, after hearing Yolei and Davis' explanation.
"Cody is too prideful and stern to open himself to Ken being in the group, and Ken is too close minded in wanting to join us," Yolei said, with a sigh. "That's a bad mix."
"It's can't say I don't understand Cody," Kari admitted. "I had my own doubts about Ken, but by now..."
Killua kept his arms crossed as he watched the boy from afar. Going to him right now and try to talk to him will probably be a lost cause. And he doubts Cody will listen to him after he has showed how their mentalities are so different. For example, their thoughts on how to permanently deal with their enemies.
Sighing, Killua grabbed two extra cans and started walking away. "I'll be right back," He said.
"Where are you going?" Davis asked, taking a sip from his drink.
"Damage control," He said, showing the two cans he grabbed. "Try to prevent Ken from completely forgetting the idea of not working along with us. Try to talk to him. And the cans will be a peace offering."
"Good luck then," Yolei said. "Maybe your approach will be better than ours."
Davis grumbled a bit and sipped from his can. Leave it to sparky to steal his thunder once again.
Killua nodded and ran in the direction where he was told Ken ran off. Hoping to make some amends between him and the group, and he seriously hoped that he hasn't left to the Human World yet.
As they were left alone on the field, the Digidestined all let out a sigh at their current situation. They drank from their juices, hoping it would wash away the bad taste they had on their mouths at this whole issue, while waiting their otherworldly leader can fix something.
As he took on last gulp, Davis looked in Cody's direction again. "Those two... Why can't they just get along, they're behaving in really childish way."
V-Mon, Yolei, Hawkmon, T.K, Patamon, Kari, and Gatomon. All seven of them, every single one of them, choked on their drinks as Davis, Davis of all people, called someone out from behaving childishly.
He turned to the others, oblivious to their reaction. "I mean, you guys think the same, right?"
As one the group started coughing after their drinks went down the wrong pipe. Davis quirked an eyebrow at them. "Hey, it's a legitimate question. What's with that reaction?"
The sound of tires snapped them out of their coughing fit, and even Cody stopped looking at his drink to turn to the source. They turned their gazes towards the hill at the other end of the field, and could see a silhouette approaching them fast.
Davis was the only one ignorant to this events, and he flinched a bit at the glare his friends were giving. "W-what? What did I do now?"
"It's not you, Davis," Kari said, pointing in the direction of the incoming jeep. "Look!"
Davis turned and gasped, immediately getting into a defensive stance and grabbing his Digivice. The yellow vehicle came to a stop and its two passengers climbed out. An air of superiority covering them like a mantle. "Hello my dears," The woman cooed. "Aren't you happy yo see me?"
"As if!" Yolei snapped. "What do you want?"
"What a disgusting welcome," She mock gasped. "And I took the problem of coming down to greet you, when I could have just watched the show from far away."
"Show? What show?" T.K questioned, gripping his Digivice tightly and letting his Ten cover him, the others soon imitating him.
"Well, I thought you guys would like to play with a Digimon I'm about to make," She explain, gesturing to the hill covered in towers.
"Haven't you done enough?!" Kari demanded. "We seriously wouldn't like to put you down, but if we must..."
"Do you think you have the guts for that, little girl?" Arukenimon mocked. "From what I can see, the Anomaly isn't with you, and he is the only one that could actually dare to kill me. Shame though, I prepared this Digimon specially for him. A Digimon that you will all be really familiar with."
That caused the Digidestined to tense. What could she possibly be meaning, what was the point of coming here to boast when said Digimon wasn't around yet. She was just gloating, at least in the eyes of the kids.
"Whatever you have ready, we can defeat it!" Yolei boasted, remembering their track record up until now.
"Old history," She responded and raised her hands. "You can try and take it down, but you will fail. Arise! Desintegrating Hair!"
The needles she launched to the towers before, were now starting to melt into the cold surface of the stone. Red ripples washing over it as they simultaneously started shaking, causing a tremor around the landscape.
The kids all tried to keep themselves steady as the floor shook, while Arukenimon and Mummymon entered their car without an issue and dashed back to the hill. Arukenimon turned to them with a mocking expression. "C'mon kiddos, follow us!"
One. Ten. Thirty. Fifty. Seventy. A hundred towers raised at once and started to gather at the top of the hill. The kids watched with apprehension, just wondering the kind of monster their enemies were about to invoke.
Killua ran around the forest looking for any sigh of the sixth Digidestined. Normally, he wouldn't care in trying to get a person to his side. But with the woman planning her next move, her new associate, and of course the mysterious Blademon moving in the shadows, they needed all the help they could get.
And due to how far away he was from his group, he wouldn't notice the tremors that will occur a few meters away.
He sighed as he scanned the forest. No sign of Ken, and without a Digivice on his own he couldn't track down him down so easily.
Just as he was considering giving up, a nearby tower toppled over. It was on an abandoned town, filled with mountains with rocks in them. Killua grinned victoriously. "Gotcha," He said, jumping into a tree and skipping in the that direction from branch to branch.
Standing at the foot of one of those, Ken dispelled his book after taking down another tower with a set of explosives. His forehead glistening with sweat from the effort of constantly using his ability, while Wormmon watched from the top of a rock. "Ken, take a break. I can continue on my own."
Ken shook his head. "No, it's okay," He assured. "You've been working too hard. Let me do some of the job."
The small Digimon lowered his antenna in sadness. He could tell Ken was upset at not being able to actually get along completely with the Digidestined group, and was just distracting himself with work. But he feared he might take it too far.
"He's right, you know?" A new voice made the two of them jump. They turned around to see Killua approaching them with two cans on his hands. "Not going to do you any good to overexert yourself."
"Killua..." Ken muttered in surprise. He didn't expected to see the boy after he left.
"Here," Killian said, throwing a can to him and one to Wormmon. The little Digimon fumbling a bit before finally grasping it. "You might need it."
"Thank you!" Wormmon said before starting to down the hole thing with large gulps.
Ken for his part frowned at the can before turning to look at Killua. "Thaks but... What do you want, exactly?" He asked.
"Straight to the point huh," Killua muttered stuffing his hands on his pockets. "I heard about what happened between you and Cody."
Ken couldn't hide the flinch at the reminder. He looked down with clenched fists. "It's obvious not all of them are ready to work with me. That boy, Cody, has every right to feel uncomfortable with me and I don't want to impose."
Killua frowned and sighed. "I understand where you're coming from," He said. "Cody... I might not know everything about him. But I do know he has strong ideals, and working with you clashes with them. But trust me when I say, he'll come around to working with you."
"How do you know?" He asked, looking to the side. He really wanted to work with the group, but he didn't wanted to cause problems either with his presence there.
"He works with me," Killua responded. "And I'm not exactly a saint."
"But you haven't-"
"-Caused damage?" Killua finished for him. "Killed people?" He listed. "Ken... You're not the only one who's done bad, horrible stuff," He laughed mirthlessly.
"You mentioned something when you confronted Arukenimon," Ken said, him and Wormmon exchanging looks. "About having your hands..."
"Drenched in blood," Killua nodded. He took a deep breath to get some courage and let it out. "I was an assassin. Or I used to be, back in my world."
Both Ken and Wormmon's eyes widened at the reveal, but didn't said anything.
"My whole family are still assassins. Me and my siblings were trained since we were really young," He continued.
Ken lowered his gaze. "That sounds horrible," He said.
"Yes, but it doesn't take away the fact that I killed before. People that I had no connection with," He exhaled. "They might be innocent or not, fighters or not, but I just snuffed them out without thinking..."
Ken didn't said anything. He just looked at the ground at the revelation. He should be judgemental to the boy in front of him, he killed and at the least he didn't showed any remorse. But... On which right would he judge him? When as the Emperor, he did worse. Towns, Digimon's lives, destroyed by him and with a sick glee.
"Why are you telling me this?" Ken asked after a long silence.
"Because the others know," He revealed, causing Ken to look at him in surprise. "I told them before the incident with Golemon. And look at us, we're still working together," At seeing that the boy still had a conflicted look, Killua sighed. "Look... I am not telling you this so you will feel bad for me or something. But to tell you that the others can, and will open to you, even Cody. It's just a matter of time, they just need to get to know the new you."
Ken turned around, not facing the boy as a variety of thoughts crossed through his mind. "How do you know they will?"
"They accept me," He said simply. "Even when I told them everything. True, they knew me before knowing my past, but they could have kicked me out when they learned the truth. If they can accept me for who I am now and not for who I was, they can do the same to you. All it takes is one chance."
Ken furrowed his brows in thought. He truly wanted to accept that, but... He just couldn't. He wanted to trust that they could look pass what he did as the Emperor, but could they truly? Killua did awful things, but none of them affecting the group personally, unlike him.
Yet... He held on the hope that maybe one day thay could be true.
Wormmon's eyes darted between the Hunter and his partner. He was surprised of hearing of the boy's pass, but he knows that he isn't a bad person—otherwise he would side with Arukenimon, or wouldn't have keep his promise of going easy on Ken during their fight on the base. His words rang true for Wormmon, Ken just needed time to be accepted, nothing else. He gave his first step by helping today, and eventually he will take the rest.
Killua turned around, thinking his words weren't enough for the boy. "Just think about it for a bit. It's your choice what to do now."
"Umm," The boy's timid voice stopped the Hunter in hia tracks. "There's still a few more towers around this zone. Can you help us out?"
Killua blinked before giving a shrug. It was a start if he wanted help in the destruction of the towers on this zone. He would take it.
"V-Mon Digivolves to... Exveemon!"
"Digimental Up!"
"Patamon Armor Digivolves to... Pegasusmon! The Flying Hope!"
"Hawkmon Digivolves to... Aquilamon!"
"Armadillomon Digivolves to... Ankylomon!"
"Digimental Up!"
"Gatomon Armor Digivolves to... Nefertimon! The Angel of Light!"
"Okay, let's get'em!" Davis exclaimed as he lead Cody and Yolei, along qith their partners from the ground, while T.K and Kari advanced from the aky.
T.K narrowed his eyes at the dark towers gathering at the top of the hill. "We will restrain whatever she created! You guys make sure they don't escape!"
"Got it!" Cody and Yolei nodded, and after a while Davis begrudgingly did so too.
From the jeep, Arukenimon looked back at them with a smirk. "You won't achieve anything against my new creation."
From the top of the hill, dark energy was swirling. It covered the whole formation of rocks, like a true black hole. And everything was coming from the figure that was forming itself from the fused hundred towers at the peak.
"Soon," Arukenimon chuckled. "You will be overwhelmed by the true terror."
As they ran towards the hill, Cody frowned and picked up the pace. Yolei and Davis kept up with him and gave him a questioning look. "What's the matter, Cody?" Davis asked.
"Can't you feel it?" Cody asked. "That energy... Flowing from the hill. It's different from everything we've encountered so far!" He exclaimed. "I fear Kari and T.K might be flying into a trap!"
"Say what?!" Davis asked, looking at the hill with apprehension. "Oh crap. KARI, T.K!"
At the top of the hill a silhouette was starting to form. It had a helmet with horns and three large claws coming from its hands. Pegasusmon and Nefertimon didn't heard Davis' calling, and their front paws started glowing. "Power Bon-"
Before they could finish their attack, the vortex of energy expanded outwards. The sheer pressure from it pushing the two Digimon back with the force of a genuine strike, that sent them crashing back into the floor.
"AAAAAAH!" T.K and Kari screamed as they crashed into the floor. Their Ten barely protecting them from the crash and the damage the push caused them.
The rest could only watch in horror as their friends crashed down into the ground. "KARI/T.K!"
Both Pegasusmon and Nefertimon skidded across the ground before coming to a stop. Their bodies covered in bruises and dirt. Their partners barely holding to consciousness after that attack. "H-how..." T.K rasped. "It was just a gust of wind..."
Kari looked up, fear starting to settle in her heart as the giant silhouette of Arukenimon's creation was starting to slowly take form.
"W-what have they created?" She struggled to straighten herself but her body crashed down against Nefertimon's fur.
The silhouette vanished, and standing on its place was a Digimon with an obsidian armor with yellow accents. Blonde hair seemed to come out of its helmet, and two giant claws were attached to its real arms, and a pair of what seemed to be metallic wings attached to its back.
It opened its yellow eyes and glared at the world under its feet from the top of the hill and let out a roar that send shivers into the spines of everyone present. And for the two veterans, the resemblance was uncanny to a close friend of theirs.
"Victory... Greymon?" T.K squinted his eyes as he tried to make out the figure at the top.
"N-no... It's different," Kari muttered, following T.K's train of thoughts.
From the car, Arukenimon felt her blood ran cold. "What is this? Why is it not a VictoryGreymon!?"
"Calm down, Arukenimon," Mummymon assured. "That is a WarGreymon, or well a... BlackWargreymon, the species from where VictoryGreymon comes from. You could say it's his ancestor."
"But that's... The master's plan..." She gnawed on her thumb before sighing. "As long as it destroys the Digidestined it shouldn't matter..."
Exveemon looked at the Digimon at the top of the hill with a grimace. His fist clenching as he just felt the pressure it was exhibing. "What do we do now, guys?" He asked.
"Protect the children, both our partners and T.K and Kari!" Ankylomon said, getting ready to charge.
"It's all we can do!" Aquilamon said, expanding his wings.
The three of them charged... And BlackWargreymon just moved.
Next thing Exveemon knows, he has a foot buried on his gut. The air left his body completely and then he gets a headbutt from the metallic head of their new foe, sending him back to the ground.
Aquilamon tried to go on his help, but he gets a right hook from the clawed weapon on BlackWargreymon's hands and just gets sent down to the floor without any chance of resistance.
Ankylomon moved to check on Exveemon, but he is interrupted when the obsidian Digimon appears behind Exveemon and proceed to tackle the two of them without any effort despite their giant sizes.
The woman started laughing and clapping in joy at the spectacle. "Yes, yes!" She cheered. "Take them down once and for all!"
All three Champions tried to gang upon him, all charging from different angles, but the dragon was able to hold them off without a problem. Each strike, each blast, each gust of wind was merely blocked by the artificial Digimon without any kind of problem. It wasn't even trying, they were no match for him.
From afar, the Digidestined watched the fight in horror. "What's that thing?! How is it so strong!?" Davis asked, as he watched his partner get thrashed.
"What should we do?!" Cody panicked, feeling fearful at seeing Ankylomon getting so injured.
"Duh!" Yolei said, fishing out her D-Terminal. "Get Ken and Killua, obviously! If Killua isn't back is because he found Ken!" She started typing quickly, hoping it would get through.
A tremor shook the abandoned town as Ken, Stigmon and Killua continued to destroy the towers nearby.
The loud crashing sounds the destruction made, and the explosions Ken's conjured bombs caused, made it impossible for them to hear Ken's terminal beeping.
"WHY AREN'T THEY ANSWERING!?" Yolei panicked as they hid behind a rock, watching the screen.
"We just need to find Killua," Cody said with a frown. "Ken doesn't need to get involved..."
"What do you mean by that you little-" Davis turned to glare at him before they got cut off.
"Enough!" Yolei screeched. "If they aren't answering, then I'll go look for them! AQUILAMON!"
The eagle turned to his partner with various bruises forming on his body. "Yolei?" He saw her doing gestures to come closer and he flew on her direction, leaving the fight to his tqo comrades.
He passed over the group of three and she jumped to latch on one of his talons. "I'll bring those two back! Hang in there, please!" She said as she gestured Aquilamon to fly away.
"We'll leave to you!" Davis said as he watched them go. A loud crash make him turn and he flinched.
BlackWargreymon was dragging Exveemon across the floor, face first. The blue dragon's face was twisted in pain, gritting his teeth to avoid crying out in pain. BlackWargreymon grabbed him by the horn and lifted him up, before delivering a spinning kick to his side.
Arukenimon was starting to relax and she let out a chuckle. "BlackWargreymon... Who cares if it isn't VictoryGreymon? His strength is..." She sighed in delight while cupping her face. "Magnificent."
"Indeed," Mummymon said, not having much to add as he watched the absolute destruction the creation was giving. While also feeling jealous at the looks BlackWargreymon was receiving from Arukenimon.
With even struggling, BlackWargreymon lifted Ankylomon over his head and slammed him against Exveemon. The two crashed on the floor, panting heavily at the effort it was taking them to continue the fight.
The obsidian Digimon cupped his hands together and floated in the sky. Red energy was gathering on the palm of his hands.
"W-what is that!?" Cody asked in fear at seeing their enemy's attack.
Ankylomon and Exveemon saw it two. The two realized that it was BlackWargreymon's special attack, like Exveemon's X-Laser. The two got on their feet and ran to their partners in panic. "DAVIS/CODY!"
Nefertimon and Pegasusmon barely regained consciousness when they felt a red light shining through their eyelids. When they looked up they gasped in horror at what they saw.
"Kari!/T.K!" With their bodies they shielded their partners without hesitation. Ankylomon and Exveemon doing the same with their partners.
BlackWargreymon was holding what could only be described as a miniature sun over its head. Its yellow eyes turning white as he let out a frightening roar and hurled the sphere towards the floor.
Killua and Ken sat down on the roof of one of the structures to take a break after the destruction of many towers. Killua didn't felt winded, but Ken looked ready to call it a day.
Stigmon floated in front of them. "Should we go, Ken?" He asked.
Ken shrugged. "Maybe we should," He turned to Killua. "Is that okay?"
"Hey, no need to ask me," Killian said with a shrug of his own. "I'll go back with the others in the meantime, then," He said, while getting up and jumping down the structure.
Stigmon looked at Ken again. "Maybe we should... Accompany him?" He suggested.
Ken frowned unsurely before turning his gaze to the floor. "No... I don't think-"
"KILLUA, KEN!" A voice called from the sky.
The three of them looked up to see Yolei on a battered Aquilamon's back. Her face showed urgency and panic, one could only wonder what could have happened to her.
"Yolei?" Both boys asked, with Killua jumping back on the structure to get a better look at the girl. "What happened?"
"You guys have to come," She said rapidly. "Arukenimon created a new Digimon way too powerful for any of us!"
"An Ultimate?" Killian asked, sensing the urgency behind her words.
"I'm not sure," She sais shaking her head. "She used too many towers to make it! Please you have to come!"
Killua didn't thought about it twice and jumped in Aquilamon's back. "Then lead the way! Ken, I need you to make," He turned but saw the boy wasn't moving. "Ken?"
"Ken, hurry!" Yolei urged.
The boy frowned and looked to the side. "Is it really necessary for me to be there?"
"What?!" The two humans asked in shock.
"Ken!" Even Stigmon was surprised by his response.
"We need JewelBeemon!" Aquilamon said. "Along with him, Killua, and yourself we might have a chance of beating him!"
Ken sighed and sat up. "I'm sorry but-"
"NO BUTS!"
Killua blinked. He was sure he was going to say the same thing, but Yolei had beaten him out on it. "What are you an idiot?!" She asked.
"I-idiot?" Ken reeled back from the shock of hearing the anger on her voice.
Then, he received the mother of all slaps straight in the face. Not even his Ten could protect him from the sting it caused on his cheek, and all of the presents winced in sympathetic pain.
"We need your help!" She panted. "You say you want to make things right after what the Emperor did, but now you have a chance and you're backing out!? Make up your mind!" She screeched, her eyes in verge of tears.
Ken hold his stinging cheeks and looked down in shame.
"Ken," Killua's voice called from Aquilamon's back. "All it takes is one chance," He said, repeating back his early words to the boy.
Ken looked up again. They needed, wanted his help. And here he was doubting, when lives were on the line. How could he continue preaching about wanting to do good to atone for his mistakes, when he was trying to leave them to fight for themselves?
He nodded and turned to Stigmon. They will help in what they can. Stigmon nodded back at his partner and the five of them took off to the battlefield.
It didn't took them long to arrive. The two Digimon had flew at max speed to reach the battlefield in no time at all.
But when they arrived, they saw the consequences of the battle in horror. Yolei covered her mouth as tears gathered on her eyes, Ken's mouth was gaping like the one of a fish, and Killua's eyes shrank until they were pinpricks.
What once was a grassy field was now a wasteland, their friends sprawled around it almost lifelessly around it.
Davis was laying on his back, Demiveemon passed out on his chest. Cody was at his side, with Upamon unconscious with his ears flopped down, pressed against his head, and just like Demiveemon he was on his partner's chest.
T.K has lost his hat and was slumped against a rock, Tokomon bruised and battered on his lap.
And Kari wasn't better, covered completely in bruises and dirt, her hairpin lost letting the bangs of her hair fall into her forehead. A yellow Digimon was at her side, and they came to the conclusion that it was Gatomon's In-Training form.
And above them, like the angel of death itself, was the responsible of this destruction. Its yellow eyes observing the prone form of its enemies, before turning to gaze at the newcomers.
Killua gasped when he saw him. 'VictoryGreymon!? ... No. It's far too different. But... I have seen that Digimon before... Where?' He wracked his brain as he tried to find where he saw him before, when a memory suddenly came to his mind.
It was from the battle against VenomMyotismon, when Izzy scanned the data of VictoryGreymon and ZeedGarurumon.
'WarGreymon,' The name came back to Killua. 'An evolution Agumon could've gotten if I hadn't being a part of the process. That means...' He narrowed his eyes and got up from Aquilamon's back. "Ken, Yolei. Collect the others and get as far away as possible, contact Tai and the others the moment you're safe."
"What?!" They both turned to him with stunned expressions.
"That Digimon isn't an Ultimate... It's a Mega," Killua explained. "The same level as SaberLeomon."
That brought the two to a stop. That Digimon was so powerful? No wonder they were unable to do anything against it! Which means...
"You're going to face it, alone?!" Yolei asked in horror.
Killua nodded. "At least until Tai and the others come here..." Then he frowned. 'But if they have the same problem accessing their Ultra Level as T.K and Kari, then there's no guarantee that VictoryGreymon and the other could help me...'
"Is there nothing we can do?" Ken asked, seeing the expression on the Hunter's face.
"Against that? No," Killua said bluntly. "But you can take them to a safe place, maybe the underground city," He said referring to their friends.
Ken and Yolei exchanged looks. Frustration bubbling on their stomachs at having to run away and not stand against such an opponent. But... They knew a Mega was a real threat. SaberLeomon was able to destroy any resistance when he was under the control of the Emperor, even with JewelBeemon... They won't stand a chance.
"Okay," Yolei said, looking down and clenching her fists. "We'll do it."
Killua nodded and turned his gaze to the artificial Digimon, who hasn't taken his eyes away from them. Almost as if assessing them. Almost... As if it was conscious.
Arukenimon cackled when she saw the newcomers. "Anomaly. You've come to face your demise!" She turned to face his creation. "BlackWargreymon, get them!"
Yet the monster didn't moved, instead it lowered to the floor and just waited for their rivals to make the move.
Arukenimon scowled. "What is it doing?!" She hissed.
Aquilamon and Stigmon landed and the kids immediate ran towards the fallen.
Yolei ran to the unconscious T.K. She was never more thankful for Killua's training, as she grabbed him and hoisted into her back, while also grabbing Tokomon and holding him under her armpit.
Ken ran to Davis and Cody. He hoisted the young kid on his back, as well as the two Digimon, while also draping an arm around Davis' to carry him.
Cody regained a bit of consciousness and the first thing he saw was the mop of purple hair. 'K-Ken?' He tried to stay awake to understand the situation, but he passed out almost immediately.
Killua walked to Kari and gently hoisted her on a bridal style, while keeping Gatomon's In-Training form on her chest. He looked at her face with a mix of sadness and anger towards their enemies. At seeing her in this state, Killua couldn't help the feeling of protectiveness washe over him.
He looked back at BlackWargreymon with a glare, who continued to look blankly at them. He wasn't attacking, just observing, waiting, as they took the injured away from the battlefield.
Kari's eyes slowly opened and she saw the distinctive mop of white hair of her leader. "K-Killua?"
He looked down at her and gave a sad smile. "Rest. I'll take care of the rest."
Kari tried to frown, but her body was too tired to respond. 'Why... Do you always have... To...' Darkness reclaimed her mind again as her eyes closed.
The three walked to the flying Champions and put their four friends on their back and hands respectively. Yolei and Ken looked at Killua again with uncertainty, but he just gave them a reassuring nod.
"We'll contact Tai and the others," Yolei promised. "Please... Hang on until then," She almost begged to him. Understandable after seeing what this Digimon could do.
Killua nodded. "Sure. I will," He turned to Ken. "Before you go... Can you give me a taser?"
Ken didn't questioned him and summoned his book and ripped a page.
Arukenimon was raging at her creation as it saw her standing still. "Attack! Destroy them! They have their guard down! Why aren't you listening!?"
BlackWargreymon just stood there, waiting. It didn't moved an inch, or even reacted at its mistress screaming. It just stood there.
The two flyers took off and Killua turned around to face the obsidian Digimon. He started walking towards him while peeling back his sleeve and gripping the taser on one hand. He jabbed the weapon on his arm and the current of electricity danced around his body, recharging him with energy.
BlackWargreymon finally acted, he walked towards the boy at a slow pace, mimicking the way the boy was stalking towards him. Its claws glistening with the reflection of the sun, and a pressure emanating from him.
Killua discarded the taser, and when it fell to the floor it dissipated.
The two of them came to a stop, standing in front of one another. The size difference would be comical if the atmosphere wasn't so tense.
Arukenimon, despite her early rage couldn't say anything as she felt the sheer pressure her creation and the Anomaly's standoff was giving. And Mummymon could only gulp in anticipation.
Everything froze. Nobody moved. Nobody breathed. No made a sound. The world around the two combatants seemed to disappear. They were the only ones there at the moment. One looking for justice, and the other for nothing more than the fulfilment of a purpose.
Then Killua made the first move.
He swept the leg of the enemy, making the dragon slip his position and Killua took his chance to deliver a backhand punch to the side of the monster's face that send it skidding back a few feet.
From the sidelines Mummymon and Arukenimon gasped at seeing their monster receive damage.
Killua frowned and jumped over to the monster, he seemed ready to throw a right hook, but turned out to be faint when he instead delivered a kick to the monster's head. BlackWargreymon continued to ski on the floor, while Killua sailed over its head and landed behind his back.
BlackWargreymon turned around to stare at its opponent, the yellow orbs of the monster looking blankly at the boy. Killua turned to glare back at him, his frown deepening when he saw the current condition of his opponent.
BlackWargreymon thrusted a claw forward, but Killua grabbed one of the blades with one hand with ease. The edge of the weapon not cutting his palm due to his Nen. Yet, despite seemingly having the advantage Killua's frown deepened.
He gave an axe kick to the chin of the monster and then he focused a fifty percent of his Nen on his left fist, to deliver a powerful punch to the gut of the artificial Digimon. BlackWargreymon seemed affected by the attack, as it doubled over itself in apparent pain.
Killua removed his fist from the metallic abdomen of the Digimon, and allowed it to move backwards. Its frame was shaking, but the expression on its eyes, the only visible feature it had, didn't changed at all.
From the sidelines, Arukenimon was sweating bullets. "N-no way... That brat is... Is he beating my BlackWargreymon!?" She shrieked. "This can't happening!"
BlackWargreymon charged at Killua at full speed. It thrusted one of its claws at the boy, that was promptly dodged effortlessly by the Hunter. It tried again and was blocked by a cross armed guard. A punch and a kick were easily caught by the boy, and the monster attacked mercilessly with a barrage of thrusts and kicks that were either blocked or dodged.
With a roar it tried to attack with his knee, which Killua blocked with his forearm. Then a roundhouse to the head, which was caught. And then a sweep from its arm that Killua dodged by jumping over the hulking frame of his opponent and land a few meters behind him.
Killua bursted forward, aided by a propulsion of Nen coming from his feet. BlackWargreymon turned only to receive a knee on the face. The force behind the blow causing the Digimon to fall on his back and get dragged across the floor, carried by the momentum.
Arukenimon collapsed and started to pant heavily as she watched her creation get beaten into the floor. Mummymon caught her and started fanning her face. "Arukenimon, hang in there!"
"N-no way... My BlackWargreymon... Is getting beaten..." She muttered.
Killua watched the downed form of his opponent. One would think he would feel pride or joy at seeing it finally down, with its back touching the floor. But he scowled and clenched his fists. 'This is bad... My attacks are not effective enough!'
BlackWargreymon sat up, its body covered in dirt, but otherwise unharmed. The monster gripped its fists and let out a growl before starting to walk towards Killua, its yellow eyes glistening with killing intent.
Killua scowled and walked forward as well. This Digimon could be as strong as VictoryGreymon, who slayed two Dark Masters, Machinedramon and MetalSeadramon. This wasn't going to be an easy fight, this one was going to push him to the limit, and Killua knows it.
"Godspeed." As those words were uttered, Killua vanished completely.
Next thing BlackWargreymon knows, he has a feet digging itself into its gut while a large current of electricity washes over its whole body and causing it to stiffen. For the first time appearing to be in genuine pain.
Killua planted his other foot on the monster's chest to use it as a spring board, and perform a spinning kick while staying mid-air on the face of the artificial Digimon.
BlackWargreymon staggers back, and before its mind can even finish processing what just happend, its opponent appeared at its side to give it a powerful left hook that sent it crashing face first on the floor and causes it to bounce.
Killua grabs its foot and with a roar of his own, he starts spinning the monster around before launching it away towards the same hill where it was born. The monster's heavy body impacted with the rock, and caused the structure to fall on it and lifting a cloud of smoke.
Killua doesn't let up, he ran at full speed at the cloud of smoke. Only for something to shot out of it on its own accord. Godspeed's Whirlwind kicking in, Killua blurs out of the way of the incoming missile when it was inches away from him, the projectile continuing on its way.
Killua reappeared again and took a good look at the missile. It was a pitch black tornado, that promptly changed directions and charged at him again. Killua narrowed his eyes and ran away from the thing, zigzagging across the battlefield to try and make it crash against something else. Yet it proved to be useless, as no matter where he went the tornado seemed to follow.
Remembering his second fight with Blademon, Killua stopped running and turned around to face the incoming projectile. He put his hands in front of himself and focused his energy in them. "Lighting..."
The tornado grew closer and he narrowed his eyes.
"PALMS!" When the tornado was inches away from him, he let out a discharge from both palms that stopped the tornado on its tracks. The electricity coursing through it, slowly grinded its spinning to a stop and revealed the form of BlackWargreymon floating mid-air.
Killua took his chance and proceed to unleash a merciless barrage of punches at the artificial Digimon. His arms became blurs, and thunder seemed to resonated from each strike the boy landed on the armored body of his enemy. This all ended with another round of lighting palms aimed at its gut.
BlackWargreymon didn't roared in pain but its body staggered backwards while smoke oozed from it. Then it just stopped, its body slumped forward and just stayed there. Standing, but its formed doubled over.
Godspeed dispelled, having gotten spend the usual reserves for that last combo, he still have reserves but nothing too large as to use his last resource again. But it didn't mattered.
This is it!' He thought, rearing back a clawed hand to pierce the chest of the enemy and put an end to today's nightmare.
And he was caught.
He gasped when he noticed a strong grip around his wrist. His eyes widening when he realized that the hand that caught his arm was a pitch black and had a clawed gauntlet attached to it. He looked at his opponent and looked with horror as BlackWargreymon slowly straightened itself and stood on its full height to glare down at the boy. Even when there were dents on its armor and bruises on its body, proofs that it has received damage, it somehow managed to accomplish this feat.
'I-It... It was to recover so fast!?' Killua couldn't believe it, yet it wasn't the first time it happened. Youpi, the Royal guard he used Godspeed on during the assault on the palace, recovered fast, the only reason he didn't caught Killua was due to him having the high ground and Meleoron covering his exit.
The differences there were that Youpi wasn't truly hurt by his attacks, despite expressing pain when he received a discharge. Here, BlackWargreymon seemed truly injured, sporting scorch marks and bruises and even some dents, and yet it recovered.
Even as electricity ran across its hand due to Killua using whatever reserves he had, BlackWargreymon wasn't deterred. It reared its fist back and buried its clawed gauntlet on the stomach of the boy with an uppercut that sent him flying through the sky, various meters up. Killua's Nen being the only thing that prevented him from being impaled right there and there.
BlackWargreymon gave chase to his opponent. He flew pass the boy sailing in the sky and brought both hands together to deliver a hammer punch on the back of the boy, while also burying his knee on the gut of the boy.
Killua took a sharp breath as he felt a metallic taste on his mouth. He let out a cough and blood flew from his mouth.
BlackWargreymon flipped and gave the boy a kick on the back that sent him back to the floor, while it stayed floating on the air.
As the wind hit his face during the fall, Killua tried to regain his breathing and tried to stop the awful ringing on his ears. Even with his Nen, even with Godspeed, those hits on this back and abdomen had being too strong. He needed to recover so he could break his fall, or cushion it.
Luckily, Killua knows how to deal with pain, he can work through it, all thanks to his families teachings.
He took a sharp breath and spund his body so he would land in all fours, and focused his Nen on his palms. When he was a few meters away from hitting the floor, which wouldn't kill him but would only add to th damage he received, he let out a burst of Nen from them that cushioned his fall.
He dropped to his knees and panted. 'That hurt! That actually hurt...' He thought while holding his gut. It must be due to its body,' Killua realized. 'Since it's made out of Control Towers, it doesn't process the pain like other Digimon!' He clicked his teeth.
It was clearly injured. But being in pain, and being injured are too different things. He would know, lighting is still painful to him, but it doesn't hurt him. Heck, Youpi felt pain from his attacks, but he wasn't remotely injured. So the opposite was also truth, he's injured, but it's not processing the pain, if it feels it at all!
He looked up where BlackWargreymon was still floating. He got back to his feet, ignoring the pain and the constant taste of metal on his mouth, and prepared for what it might be preparing.
BlackWargreymon cupped its hands together and a small dot of energy was formed. Then it raised its hands above its head and the dot became a giant sphere that resembled a miniature sun.
With a roar, it threw the attack towards its opponent. The same attack that finished the ones before him. And as it launched it, a thought echoed through its mind. One that worked when it refered to that attack.
"TERRA DESTROYER!"
With horror, Killua watched as the sphere of energy came down to crash down on him. He gritted his teeth and wracked his brain, while everything else seemed to slow down. 'What can I do? I don't have Godspeed to run away anymore. And even if I did have it, what are the chances of me escaping the shockwave?' He couldn't run. 'Then... Am I going to...'
The image of the downed Digidestined came to mind.
Killua gritted his teeth. 'I have to stop it! Right now... I'm the only one that can!' He thought. He looked down at his hands and summoned what was left of his reserves. 'I will stop it!'
He cupped his hands to the side and started rubbing them together as if trying to get them to warm up. Electricity gathered around them and he thrusted forward.
"LIGHTNING PALMS!"
Killua slammed his two palms, covered in Nen using Ryu to focus ninety percent of it into them and electricity, into the sphere when it was inches away from crashing against him. The heat was terrible, he could feel his palms burning even through the thick layers of Nen he put on them, yet he gritted his teeth and pushed forward.
His feet dug themselves on the floor, sweat dripped from his forehead, and the heat was scorching. Yet he tried to press forward. With a roar he focus the ten percent left in his feet into his hands and pushed his reserves to the limit.
This new sparks of electricity seemed to cause a reaction on the sphere, as it suddenly started glowing violently before it detonated.
Twice in that day an explosion took place in that area. Killua was sent flying and bounced a few times into the floor, before landing into his back.
BlackWargreymon looked blankly at what just transpired and it slowly descended back to the floor, observing the prone form of its opponent.
Killua's shirt was reduced to tatters, as well as the left leng of his pant. He was completely covered in bruises and scorch marks... But the worst part were his hands.
They were completely black, almost carbonized, gnash wounds open in them. What happened to him in Greed Island was a joke compared to the state they were in right now.
And yet he struggled back to his feet, glaring at the obsidian Digimon in front of him. Even when his ears were ringing, with the possibility of him being deaf after the explosion at worst or with tinnitus at best, and his hands were causing him an almost unbearable pain, he will stand! 'I just have to... Hold them off... Damnit, Yolei, Ken I hope you managed to contact Tai and the others!'
BlackWargreymon seemed ready to continue the fight, like the mindless beast it was. But then, a ray of energy zapped pass him and towards Killua.
Due to the state of his body, he couldn't do much. And the attack passed through his leg, leaving a sizeable hole on his thigh. The boy staggered back and fell on his butt. His eyes shrinking and a silent gasp escaping his mouth.
"I GOT IT!" Mummymon cherred. "See, Arukenimon! I got it!"
Arukenimon ignored him and turned to her creation. "Now, BlackWargreymon! Finish him!"
BlackWargreymon stood still, watching as the boy tried to craddle his leg, but couldn't due to the state of his hands. And then... Its eyes narrowed.
"No."
That deep voice echoed across the wasteland, snapping Killua out of his pain to look at the owner of the voice. BlackWargreymon itself. "I-It talked?" Despite the ringing on his ears, he heard that, loud and clear.
"It talked!?" Arukenimon and Mummymon shared the boy's surprise.
BlackWargreymon turned to them with narrowed eyes. "Why should I listen to you, cowardly worms?" It... He asked. "He proved to be a strong opponent, if I decided to finish him it would be under my terms. Not yours!"
"Your terms!?" Arukenimon's shrieked. "I am your maker! You shall obey me!"
BlackWargreymon turned around and scoffed. "I will never listen to someone like you," He looked down at Killua. "You and I will face off again, and next time I will come victorious on my own terms!" He extended his wings and flew off.
Everyone could only stare in the direction where BlackWargreymon flew off, a supposed beast created to destroy them had showed Killua a weird sense of mercy and even honor. 'W-what just...' The boy thought.
Arukenimon swayed and almost collapse, had Mummymon not caught her. "T-this can be..."
"Arukenimon, hang in there!" Mummymon said. "Look, look! The Anomaly is unprotected, vulnerable, I can kill him for you!"
Arukenimon gritted her teeth and pushed him away. "Then what are you waiting for, you boob!? Do it!" She demanded, pointing at the boy.
Killua tried to stand, he could barely make up what they were talking about with his ears ringing, but those two were no good, but when he got to his feet pain flared from his thigh and he fell down again. 'D-Damnit! This can be it!'
Mummymon pointed his machine gun at him and cackled. "Die, Anom-"
"NOVA FLAME!"
"HOWLING BUSTER!
"METEOR WINGS!"
Three attacks rained upon the jeep, causing its passengers to bail from it to dodge, while the poor vehicle met its end.
Killua looked up and a smile came to his lips as he saw Tai, Matt and Sora run towards him. "You guys."
"Killua!" Tai came to a halt at his side. "Oh, man... What did they do?!" He said, looking at his friend's condition.
Matt came as well, helping Tai to carry the boy. "Between gathering, looking after the others, and wait for our partners... We're sorry for the delay."
"Heh heh... Better late than never," He chuckled, the adrenaline leaving his body.
"Let's get out of here!" Sora said, as Birdramon and the others created a smoke screen for them.
Arukenimon and Mummymon coughed and hacked as the smoke covered the wasteland. The woman in red swept her hand to try and clear the air, while Mummymon tried to cover her from harm.
When the smoke cleared, there was no sigh of the Digidestined or the Anomaly.
Mummymon watched the remainings of his vehicle in sorrow. "Awww man, it will be a while before I can make another..." He received no answer and turned to her accomplice. "Arukenimon?"
The woman in red was trembling in place. Her teeth grinding together and her fists clenching so hard the almost started bleeding. Then her lips parted and she let out a roar of pure and primal fury and frustration.
"Oh... Lord... I've came this far..."
"And to clarify. No, BlackWargreymon isn't as strong as a Royal Guard. Like said here, he got injured by Killua's attack, he just didn't processed the pain. While Youpi was the opposite, he felt the pain from Killua's attacks but was barely affected. If those two met, I believe Youpi could snap him in half before he could say Terra Force."
"Fav and Review. Because this chapter took a lot of work. Please."
