"Disclaimer: Nothing is mine."
"Fair warning: I suck at writing ellipses (ellipsis? ellipsises?) so if you think the jump between months I'll make are annoying, then I'm sorry; I'm doing my best here..."
"Felipe1402XZA: Yup, I dragged it long enough, it had to be noticed. And I still don't know when to include something like the arc you mentioned."
"Zero Fullbuster: Here's the next one!"
"Wickerstein: Huckmon or not, in the end the idea was for Killua's partner to be his enemy, so the character would've been the same, just a different species.
A training chapter that is causing me a headache with how complex Nen is T-T.
Glad you think that way, because It's the only excuse I have to accelerate their progress.
Poor Daisuke, he only needs some development and let go of that crush. And well, I hope you like what I'll write for what I have in mind for Killua and Kari.
And well, Killua is known for being drawn to harbingers of light."
"N. Ageless: COMADRE!!!!
Oooooh, I love this ending! It's so adorable, and nostalgic. Both what you've written and the music in general.
Yeah, I wonder why I did a parallel between Kari's partner and Killua's? (Wink, wink. Guiño, guiño)
Thank you! It is hard. I wanna go back to Canon soon ;-;. And yeah, I had to add Pucchiemon to show that Ken does have the Digi-egg of Kindness, to match with the new origin I gave V-Mon and the others.
Sorry, I can't add this scene you wrote. This chapter is as long as it is ;-;"
T.K's feet skid across the floor. His teeth gritting and his Ken standing strong against the force of Killua's Ko. His momentum stopped and he stood in front of his white haired leader, teeth gritted and raged breath coming out from his mouth. His aura began to falter, but eventually it dissipated, leaving him panting in place.
"Thirty minutes," Killua said in approval. "You've improved this last month." He turned to the rest of the Digidestined participating on this excersise, all of them looking worn out. "All of you have!"
It was the last day of their first month on Piximon's secret place, and like T.K, all of the Digidestined had make advances on their use on Ken. Meaning they were now ready to move on the next Nen technique.
Killua clapped his hands and everyone formed in front of him. "All right then. Everyone, what's your best time in Ken, go!"
"Thirty minutes!" T.K, and Davis said. The latter a bit bummed he didn't get to surpass the blonde.
"Twenty-Eight minutes!" Kari chirped. Quite happy with her development.
"Twenty-six minutes," Cody said dutifully. He seemed pleased with his time.
"Twenty-five minutes..." Yolei said with a small sigh. She was the lowest, yes, but it wasn't so bad as to bring her down.
Killua raised a finger. "Having twenty five minutes, and even more, is great," He reminded them.
"Lightning!" They all yelled.
"Okay, not bad," Killua smiled. "It was a draw," His head flopped to the side, with a sigh. "Guess you're safe."
He couldn't use the same draw-breaker he and Gon used, with the unevens numbers on their ranks—Not counting Ken since he is currently busy.
"With the amount of time you guys have achieved, we can move on to the next part of training," Killua said, letting his Ten surround his body. "Listen closely about what I'll tell you. Bring out your Ten
They didn't hesitated, their auras soon cloaking their bodies.
Killua spoke, "Your aura in this state is a hundred percent that covers your whole body evenly," He explained. Then he focused it on his fist. "Ko focuses one-hundred percent of your aura on one point," Then he let it cover his body again, this time using Ren and then Ken. "And Ken works to so your aura has fifty percent on offense and fifty percent on defense," He explained. "Then with this technique, you will control that flow at will."
"I am not getting this..." Davis mumbled.
Kari smiled at him. "Normally Ten covers your whole body, but with this techniques you can focus it on any part you want."
"Oh!" Davis' face lit up. "Ah! I see, of course you would get it, Kari!" He said, sheepishly scratching his head.
Killua's eyebrow twitched. 'Shouldn' have gotten numbers involved. Either he does get it, or his brain only listens when Kari is talking.'
He shook his head and continued the explanation. Killua focused most of his seventy percent of his aura on his left hand, leaving a thirty percent around his body. "This is would be the same as using Gyo on real time, and on other parts aside from the eyes: Ryu!" He allowed his Ken to flow normally. "With this technique you have to just think on how much aura you want to put on a part of your body, and your aura will follow. It will take a while, but I'm sure you'll get the hang on it soon. Now, when I tell you to focus a certain amount on one part of your body, you do it. Ready to start?
"Osu!"
Yolei looked down at her aura and pressed her lines in thought. 'Focusing certain amounts of aura on one part...' She mused, then she inwardly grinned. 'Maybe... For my ability I can use this!'
"Forty percent on left hand, now! Rest of your body on fifty sixty percent!" Killua's barking snapped Yolei back to Reality, and she got to work.
The aura fluctuate around their bodies. Adjusting it so it would meet Killua's demands on the training.
"Left leg eighty percent, rest of your body twenty percent!"
"Right fist twenty five percent, left fist twenty five percent, rest of your body fifty percent!"
"Body eighty percent, rest of your limbs five percent each!"
"Legs fifty percent! Arms and legs twenty-five percent!"
And so on, and so on went Killua's instructions for twenty five minutes, the minimum they could do at the moment. Their auras dispersed, and even T.K and Davis, those who had the most endurance looked completely spent.
"How... This is... Harsh..." Kari panted, straightening her back as sweat glistened on her forehead.
"And it's about to get harsher," Killua told them. "You guys will be doing this for thirty minutes, three times a day. First one for today's is over, then after lunch, and once more before the sun sets."
"You..." Davis grumbled. "Are a slave driver."
"Oh don't be a baby!" Killua said, crossing his arms. "I don't hear Ken complaining and he is fighting two Champions!"
"Because he is too tired afterwards!" Yolei pointed out. More than once had the poor boy fallen asleep at the table after training with Stigmon and Gatomon.
"Semantics," Killua waved off. "Now prepare. Is time to spar."
"Spar!?"
"You have to know how to regulate your aura in real time during combat," Killua explained. "So for these spars you'll prepare and attack with Ryu, and your opponent will have to guess how much aura your using to counter it."
"Sounds hard..." Cody mumbled. "In battle one has to focus on his opponent, so for them to also focus on regulate the aura." Cody was familiar with spars, even if he doesn't participate often in the ones from the group. The sessions with his grandfather on kendo giving him an understanding on how combats can be.
"True!" Killua said rising a finger.
"Lighting!"
He chuckled, "Draw!" He stuffed his hands on his pockets. "So for this spar, you'll move slow at first, and then when you get the rhythm of your opponent, then you can pick up the pace. Understood?"
"Osu."
"Okay. The pairs are the same as the ones from before I unlocked your Nen," Killua said. "T.K and Davis, Yolei and Kari. Cody, you're with me."
The boy gulped nervously, but nodded, while the others took their formation.
Killua looked down at Cody and tooked an offensive stand. "Here I come," He warned. The boy only nodded and got ready to receive the attack. Killua focused fifty percent of his aura on his left fist and swung it slowly at the kid.
'That's... Fifty, maybe fifty five...' He thought and focused fifty five percent of his aura on his left arm to block the punch. Killua retrated his arm and Cody attacked. 'Sixty percent, left arm...' He thought to make sure the focus was right.
Killua guessed the right amount when he saw the punch coming and blocked it with an equal level of aura. He looked around to see the other sparring couples around the clearing.
Davis narrowed his eyes as he saw the jab T.K sent his way. 'That's... Thirty percent? Maybe forty?' He put an amount of fifty percent just to be sure and swat it away. Then he threw a slow right hook. 'Forty—No, forty-five percent, right hand!'
T.K followed the fist and raised his forearm to block the punch. 'Forty-six percent, left arm,' He thought, and his aura moved to block the attack.
Kari raised a leg and aimed a kick to Yolei's left side. 'Thirty percent, right leg.'
The bespectacled girl focused aura on her torso, where the kick was aiming. 'Thirty percent, right side of my torso.' The attacks collided and nulled each other. As she did this, another thought came to mind. 'Maybe I can turn my aura in something by focusing it on a part of my body... But in what, what could be good for me?' She thought as she readied her fist. 'For later though. For now... Fifty percent, left hand.'
Killua observed them with an odd sense of pride and nostalgia. Digivice's influence or not, they were making fast progress. 'In two months they should be ready. But I also have to prepare their Hatsu. With the help of their Digivices it might take them just a few weeks to do it.'
He blocked another punch from Cody and then threw his own slow jab at the boy's face. 'Of course, there's their graduation as well.
The group went back to the house to prepare for lunch, and so Killua trekked by himself through the clearing to meet up with the other parts of the group.
The nearby explosions were a good guess of where they were.
He stepped on the clearing and watched the scene playing in front of him, with crossed arms and a small smile.
A cloud of smoke cleared to reveal Ken, only with a white T-shirt and a pair of black shorts lend by Davis. Gatomon stood on the other side of the clearing, while Stigmon hovered above the two.
Gatomon charged and Ken ripped a page from his book. It morphed into a medieval shield and he put it in front of him, it blocked Gatomon's punch and he pushed her back. He dismissed it and ripped quickly another page that turned into an electric baton.
He swung it down on her, and the cat found herself on the defensive. Ken dropped and tried to swept her legs, but Gatomon jumped over his head. Ken swirled around and straightened before lunging back again, taking advantage of his opponent having his back turned on him.
Gatomon's keen senses allowed him to turn and catch the arm with the weapon. Ken threw a punch from his free hand, but was promptly caught. The boy smirked, and without wasting any second, he gave the cat an axe kick to the chin, forcing her to let go and sending her flying back.
Ken smirked, but then flinched when a shadow loomed over him. Stigmon's stinger glew and lunged forward. Ken moved out of the way as the attack dug itself on the ground.
Ken repeated the process of his ability, dispersing the baton and bringing the book. He ripped the page and a—honest to God—grappling hook came out. He pressed the trigger and the hook was launched, it wrapped around the arm of the Champion and then Ken reeled it back and he was propelled towards his partner, while focusing Nen on his fist.
Stigmon freed himself and swung his arm around to try and free himself from the hook. Ken hold on the gun part of his weapon despite all the shaking, before letting go and being sent flying through the air.
Ken brought his fists together and focused his Nen and aimed a hammer punch to the head of his partner. The giant bug raised his arms and blocked the attack, the floor beneath his feet cracked. Ken planted his feet on the arms and used them as a spring board to jump back while summoning his book again.
A ripped page turned into a stun grenade, Ken threw it at his partner. Stigmon ducked and covered to avoid getting blinded, but Ken had already anticipated this. He landed and ran low on the floor, making sure to keep his head bowed to not be affected by his grenade as it detonated.
He focused Nen on his feet and applied the technique he has seen Killua use time and time again. The light cleared and Ken propelled himself to his partner's face. He focused his Nen on his fist and delivered a right hook that sent his partner down to the floor.
The giant bug skidded across the floor and slowly came to a halt, while Ken landed with a sigh.
Clapping called all of their attention and they turned to see Killua approaching. "That was amazing. You all did well," He complimented.
"If by well you mean that Ken kicked our asses, then thank you," Gatomon said with crossed arms and a pout.
The boy scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "Err... Sorry," He said.
"It's okay, Ken," Stigmon reassured after getting up. "We're good."
"Then go back to the house, get some food, and then you can restart," Killua told them. "I'll gather the Rookies."
"Osu!" The three intoned.
After gathering the Rookies, who were all completely wasted after their routine of a push-ups, sit-ups, and plenty of laps around the lake, the group gathered up to eat.
"So... How was your day~?" Killua asked with a cat smirk as he watched almost everyone with their foreheads against the table.
"You would know," Davis grumbled. "You're our torturer!" He spat out.
"Gee, melodramatic much?" Killua asked as he took a bite from his rice. "But in all seriousness, you adapted well to Ryu techniques."
"But... That's thanks to our Digivice, right?" Cody asked.
When the veterans discovered the possible relation between their devices and their Nen, they shared it with their friends. And reactions were mixed.
"Remember," Killua said. "Don't feel down about this. Digivice or not, you guys are the one putting all the efforts."
"Yeah, we know," Davis said, waving a dismissive hand. "We just wanted to make sure, right man?" He asked Cody with a grin.
Cody nodded. "Yeah." Inwardly he frowned. 'It feels a bit like cheating but... It's all helping us out.' He thought a bit unsurely. 'And there's also...'
His eyes drifted to Ken, who didn't seemed to notice. He didn't looked as tired as he usually did after his spars with the Champions... Maybe he could ask for advices on how to start conjuring.
"This training is going to be a bit longer," Killua said. "I think in two months you guys should be able to dominate Ryu. And that brings me to my point: Your Hatsu Techniques."
"What about them?" Kari asked.
"Well, does any of you have any idea on how to start?" Killua asked, putting and elbow on the table and resting his head on his hand. He received frowns and unsure looks. He sighed and shook his head. This was to be expected.
Yolei raised a hand. "How do we develop our abilities?"
"That all depends on what category you are," Killua explained. "It is different from each person," He leaned back and crossed his arms. "Think of abilities without too much or too little risks, but that fit your specialties. Think within your comfort zone, or things your familiar with."
Kari frowned a bit in thought. "How are you familiar with lightning?"
Years of experience allowed Killua to not flinch on her question. "I studied many things because of my... Former profession, including how lightning behaves," He wasn't going to say his family tortured him as part of his training, that wasn't important right now, but they would make a fuss out of it!
"Oh okay," She didn't pressed any further, and for that Killua was thankful.
"But anyways... Maybe you should stay within a comfort zone," Killua said. "Develop abilities practical and effective, and not overly complicated."
He could see the gears turning on their heads. Wondering what they could do. A big part of the group seemed to be having some concepts in mind—Cody and Yolei both stares at their hands, as if wondering if their ideas could be possible. While others seemed to be going through different scenarios of abilities—T.K and Kari had their lips pressed as they thought.
And lastly... Davis.
'Deja vu...' It's what Killua thought as the boy's head slammed against the table, and steam seemed to pour out of his ears. Everyone else giving the boy baffled expressions.
Ken looked at Davis with a patient look. "Take it slowly, step by step. Think the kind of ability you want to have."
The boy looked up in thought. "The kind..." He closed his eyes and thought for a second... Before the smoke came back.
"E-Eh?!" Ken blinked at seeing the process repeating again.
'Yup, definitely Deja Vu,' Killua sighed with a small smile at thinking about his best friend. 'At least he has more people to ask around.'
T.K patted the boy's back. "You must have an idea, right Davis?"
"I want to shoot the Kamehameha?"
"Maybe that's a bit over the top..." Yolei sweatdropped.
"Then maybe something you can be familiar with!" Kari chirped, trying to help her friend out.
"I think I saw the anime enough times to-"
"Not the Kamehameha!" Everyone groaned, sans Killua who didn't know what that was.
"Oh come on!" Davis threw his arms into the air and grabbed his head, ruffling his hair in despair. "Then what am I supposed to do?!"
"Well, how about this?" Killua said. "Think about it through this week, develop it when you have the time, and present what you have by the weekend."
"And if we haven't thought of everything?" Davis grumbled.
Killua gave him a stern look. "Then you'll lag behind everyone else in the training." He said bluntly.
That gave Davis a stop and he slumped down a bit.
Kari gave the leader a small glare. "Killua!" She hissed.
"It's the truth," He said with a shrug and picking up his plate. "Rest up, allow yourselves to make the digestion and then we'll resume the training," He instructed as he collected the plates and went to the sink.
He noticed how everyone, even Ken, seemed a bit tenser with their new deadline. He frowned and sighed inwardly. 'Harsh, but with this they'll put their minds in thinking of what to do.'
The rest of the day continued on the same routine. The only difference was that their training on Shu has been replaced by sessions of Ryu, Killua thinks is the best to just focus on this technique for the rest of these two months.
Now, night has fallen, and like usual the two veteran Digidestined were outside with their leader to learn how to make their traits glow up.
The two sat on a meditating position, their auras flowing around their bodies due to the concentration they're putting into it.
The screens of their Digivice's were on, but that was only due to the usage of their Nen. The image of their Crests appearing in them. A month of constant meditation, and after the realizations on what they should be feeling to cause a reaction has allowed them this much progress. They still have to try and make their partners evolve, but this was a good first step—Specially for Kari.
They both had a divination test in front of the , and Kari's cup was glowing as if the sun itself was reflecting on it.
Killua frowned as he looked at T.K's, despite the image of his Crest appearing on the Digivice, the reaction of his cup was the same as always. The leaf was moving around the cup, at this point effortlessly. The same reaction as any other Manipulator.
'Kari is an Enhancer, yet under the special circumstances of her Crest shining, she becomes a Specialist,' He mused. 'I thought it could all be the same for everyone else, but T.K's reaction is the same, even though he should be the one to most likely be a Specialist under certain circumstances.' He tapped his chin aa he continued to ponder on this. 'Maybe it has to do with what their Crests mean...'
His eyes lingered on Kari, her serene face a contrast of the struggle they had to go through during their first training sessions. 'She has always had something that sets her apart due to her Crest, is that what makes her a Specialist?' He wondered. He sighed and shook his head. 'Doesn't matter I guess. What matters is what she can do with it.'
He clapped his hands. "All right guys, enough!" He called.
They cut out their Nen and took a deep breath, and reached for their Digivices. "It worked?" T.K asked.
"It was glowing with the symbol of your Crests," Killua said. "But until we're out on the battlefield, we can't know for sure."
"But if we do, then we've reached that full potential Piximon talked about?" Kari wondered. "The one my brother and the others reached."
Killua hummed and crossed his arms. "Maybe. That so-so full potential allowed Tai and the others to reach the Mega level," He said. "If this work, then it would mean you're half way there."
"And if we go by our track record, reaching it fully would mean we'll have to find ourselves in a pinch," T.K reasoned, then he let a small snort. "Then that isn't that far out."
"It won't be so bad," Kari said, letting a bit of aura flow. "Now we have this."
"Remember, Nen isn't all powerful," Killua said. "And you have to develop an ability first."
T.K frowned. "I'm having a hard time thinking of what to do..." He admitted. "I don't know what I can use. Killua, do you know of any Manipulators? Maybe I can get an idea."
'If I know Manipulators he asks...' Killua inwardly frowned. The image of his eldest brother appearing on his mind, and how he controlled him for years with a needle, or how he manipulated people to capture him and Alluka.
Aside from him, he knew of Morel and Shoot. Morel's ability was simple enough for him, he puffs in smoke from his giant pipe and when he puff it out he can give them form. Shoot's was a bit complex, and a bitter reminder for Killua, with his Dark Inn he hit a certain part of the body and then locks it away on a cage.
"You can use something you are really familiar with," Killua said. "And use it for your own. You can also materialize something for your own use, but that means mastering Conjuring as well and..." He sighed, "I don't think we have time for that..."
T.K nodded. "I understand..." He looked down in thought, lips pursed as he tried to come up with an idea. 'Something I use regularly, that I'm familiar with...' He mused. He looked down at himself and the idea came to him. "I know!" He said, sitting up.
"Mind sharing with the class?" Killua asked with a small smirk.
T.K returned it with one of his own. "Maybe this weekend!" He said. "I... Need to start thinking how to make it work. Are we done with our traits?"
"For tonight," Killua said with a nod.
T.K nodded back and walked back to the house, leaving his two teammates on the clearing.
Killua turned to his last student. "So... Do you have a question about your ability?"
Kari sheepishly scratched the back of her head. "Hahaha. Yeah..."
"So, do you have an idea of what to do?" Killua asked, sitting cross-legged in front of her. "A vague idea. And please do not say you want a 'super strong technique!'" He begged.
Kari snorted and waved a hand. "I won't, I won't!" She promised. "But... Like T.K, do you have any experience with Enhancers? Or Specialists?"
"I do," Killua said, a smile forming on his lips. "With Enhancers I can definitely give you a good advice, I was around one for a long time."
"Really?" Kari leaned forward. "How was his ability like?"
Killua smiled as he reminisced Gon's Jajanken. How he just made a really powerful Ko, and the time it takes to charged it.
He closed his eyes and shool his head slightly when he remembered the last Jajanken Gon did... He didn't needed to think about that right now.
"Well, he just used a more powerful Ko," Killua explained. "He just wanted to give a super strong punch—His words, not mine—so he created an strong aura and focused it on his fist, but it tooks some time for it to charge."
"That's a Condition, right?" Kari asked. "Like... What you explained us."
"Yup," Killua nodded. "So... Maybe, if you want to make a strong aura you'll need a condition. I saw another guy who enhanced the Nen only around his hands," He remembered Kastro's True Tiger's Fist, and how the man wasted that ability for his clone.
"So... I need a Condition?" Kari asked. "Like, my aura will increase by doing this or that?"
"Or under certain circumstances," Killua informed. "Like, my aura will increase during this or that."
Kari hummed in thought and her gaze turned to the sky. "And... What about Specialist abilities?"
"I can't help you with that," Killua said with a sigh. "Specialist are just... Something else, rule-breakers, their abilities don't fit on anything the other five have to offer. The floor is completely yours to do something completely original."
"I see," She gave him a smile. "I think I get it now. I can work it out for now on."
"Glad I could help," Killua said with a shrug and a smirk.
"... Say, Killua?" Kari asked after a moment of silence.
"Hmm?"
"That person, the one you've talked about," She said. "The one with the super-punch, who is it?" She asked with curiosity.
Killua blinked. "Why do you wanna know?"
Kari's smiled widened. "When you talked about him, you never stopped smiling," She explained.
Again, the former assassin blinked. "Really?" He asked, baffled. 'Huh, must miss that guy more than I thought.' He said. He shook his head and scratched his head. "I'm talking about Gon. I think I mentioned him once or twice around you."
"Oh yeah," Kari said. "He's the friend you wanted to help, right?" She remembered now, it was the main reason why Killua wanted to return to his world the first time around.
"And I did help him," Killua confirmed. "After that we just had to... Part ways, I stayed with my sister and he went back to his home. But despite that, he is still my best friend."
"I see," Kari said. "How'd you meat?" She was curious now. Wondering what kind of life her leader had, most of the experiences he lived through must've been with this Gon person.
"During the Hunter Exams," Killua revealed, with a smile. He looked up in remembrance, at that time he was just drawn to him due to having his age, he didn't expected to get wrapped in some crazy adventures thanks to him. "I... Think that's a story for another day though, it is getting late."
Kari frowned a bit but nodded. "You're right," She said, walking towards the house.
"So?" Killua said. "Do you have an idea about your abilities?"
Kari swirled around and smirked at him. "Yup, but..." She closed her eyes while smirking and waving her finger at him. "It's a secret."
Killua raised and eyebrow and chuckled. This day proved to be a nostalgic trip.
While the veterans where all outside on their usual sessions to make the traits work, the new generation stayed inside the house, on their shared room.
Davis laid complete awake as he stared at the ceiling. His thoughts going back to the conversation they had during lunch. 'Will I really lag behind if I don't think of something...' He mused. Raising a hand, Davis allowed his Nen to flow. 'But... What can I do...' His eyes looked around the room, and shyly he spoke. "Ummm... Guys? Are you awake?"
He didn't received an answer right away. For a moment, he thought they were all asleep, until one of the them spoke. "What is it, Davis?" Yolei asked.
"Have you thought what abilities you wanna have?" He asked. "I mean, am I the only one who doesn't have the foggiest idea?"
"I do have an idea of what I want to do," Cody's young voice told him through the darkness of the room. "But... I wanna ask Ken for help on that."
"You do?" A quiet voice asked in the dark, they looked to the corner where Ken usually slept. The boy was awake as well.
"Um," Cody mumbled and nodded. "Yeah," He bowed his head. "If it's not too much problem."
Ken looked surprise that the boy who had the most reserves when it came to his inclusion on the team was asking him for help. His mind drifted to Killua's words, the day they faced BlackWargreymon. It was just a matter of time indeed.
He nodded with a smile. "Sure, I'll help in what I can," He told him.
"Hate to interrupt, but my question is still unanswered," Davis grumbled. "Had you guys thought of something?"
Yolei hummed from the bed and gave a nod. "I have a small idea... But I'll have to consult Killua a bit about it..."
"And I think I know what I want to make with my Nen," Cody said. "But first I'll need to know some bases," He mumbled, looking at Ken.
"Aww great," Davis grumbled. "So I'm the only one who hasn't thought of anything?"
Ken looked at all three of them before speaking. "I might be a Conjurer, but I can always try and help with your ideas."
"Really?" Davis asked, before walking towards him, making sure to not wake V-Mon. "Sweet, thanks man."
The three sat in front of the Child of Kindness. He took a deep breath to calm some nerves and turned to the first of them. "Cody, to be a Conjurer you need to know something first: You can't created things that are physically impossible. For example: You can't wish for a sword that is indestructible, or something like that because it's plainly impose," He summoned his book. "When I started to develop my ability, I tried to make it so it would have infinite pages, but that is simply impossible."
He flipped it open and showed both the beginning and the end. "Eventually, it can ran out of pages and then I'll have to summon a new one, and fill it with the objects I want."
"Man, that's a bit of a downside," Davis mumbled.
Cody observed Ken's book for a moment. "How do you conjure something exactly? How do you give it form?"
"You have to be really familiar with the item you want to summon," Ken explained. "I grew up surrounded by books due to my... Reputation," He said a bit uncomfortably. "So, the images and textures of a book was something familiar to me."
"... Something familiar..." Cody mumbled. "Then I guess I know what I want to make."
"And what would that be?" Yolei asked, eager to know.
"... A shinai," Cody said. "The weapon used in kendo."
"There's more to it, right?" Yolei asked. "I mean, no offense Cody, but if you want a shinai then just use one from your practices."
"Yeah, there's more," Cody said. "But the first step is to be able to conjure the shinai itself, right?"
Ken nodded. "Yeah. Since you practice kendo it should come easy to you... But if you need help," He flipped through his book. "I can materialized one for you. To reminisce the feeling."
Cody smiled and nodded. "I would like that."
"Alright," Davis said, calling the attention back to him. "Cody has his idea, now moving on-"
"I wanna use blades!" Yolei said in a whisper-yell, to not wake up their partners.
Davis grumbled at the interruption.
"Blades?" Ken and Cody blinked.
Yolei nodded. "Early, when we used Ryu for the spars, I thought of maybe using it for my technique. And after mulling it over, I think I got inspiration from someone..."
"Who?"
"Shurimon," Yolei said with a chirp. "In my opinion Hawkmon's coolest form... But don't mention that to him," She finished sheepishly.
The three boys pictured the image of the ninja Digimon on their minds. Specially the blades he had for hands.
"I... Think I get what you want to achieve..." Davis sweatdropped.
"Well, guess you have the right idea to question that with Killua, since he is the other Transmuter on the group," Cody said.
"Yup, yup," Yolei said nodding. "I... Suppose you don't know much of Transmuting right?" She asked Ken.
"Nope, sorry," He said sheepishly.
"Well at least she has an idea," Davis said. Then he gave them all a pleading look. "Now... Help, ideas, please?"
Ken hummed in thought and looked at him. "Alright, barring anime techniques," He said in one go. "What do you think being an Emitter means?"
"Shooting out my Nen like fireballs," Davis looked. 'Hmmm, maybe I can do like Yolei and use Flamedramon's moves... Nah, I won't even know how...'
"Okay then... When someone says shoot, what comes to mind?" Ken asked.
Davis pursed his lips. "A gun? Or well..." He closed his eyes in thought. "Also when someone tells me to shoot a ball in a game." His eyes lit up. "Holy shit..."
"Did you thought of something?" Ken asked.
Davis didn't listened, he was too busy daydreaming. He saw himself, forming a sphere like a football on his feet.
"Huh..." Yolei mused as she waved a hand in front of his face. "He usually gets this face when he sees Kari."
"I'm guessing you got an idea?" Ken said in a tone with light amusement.
Davis just continued to grin. "Yeaaaah," He got up. "Thanks guys! Now I can't wait for the weekend!" He exclaimed.
At that moment, five pillows slammed against his body making him lose balance and fell down.
"Go to sleep!" All of the awoken Digimon complained.
"S-Sorry..." Davis apologized as he laid on the floor, covered by the pillows, while the others chuckled nervously.
Week passed without anything new. The days on this forest were pretty much uneventful aside from training.
Saturday arrived, and all of the Digidestined stood in line in front of their leader. Ken has been spared from his usual spars.
"Alright. The day has arrived," Killua said, arms crossed. "Have you guys thought of something?"
All of them responded without much hesitation. "Osu!"
Killua smiled. A sense of pride at seeing the lack of doubt on their voices filling his insides. "Okay, who wants to go first?"
Yolei was the one to take the first step. "I want to make blades in my hands," Yolei said.
Killua gave a motion with his hands. "Go on."
"See, I want my aura to turn into something similar to blades," She said. "Going by how Ryu works, I can focus twenty-five percent of aura in both of my hands, while leaving the rest on my body, and turn those twenty-five percent in blades."
Killua hummed. The idea behind her ability reminded him of the scissors of Gon's Jajanken, just more focused on close combat. "It doesn't sound bad, but you shouldn't limit yourself to just use a certain amount of aura to make them. Just transform the aura on your hands, and then you can try augmenting their strength while using Ryu. As a Transmuter, the advice I can give you is to picture the properties of what you want to create, you know how blades most feel like. And if you still need examples, well... We have knives on the kitchen."
"Bingosu!" She said with a bright grin. While Killua sweatdropped at the combination of the words. She also considered the advice he gave her, to not limit herself to a certain percentage. She nodded to herself as she imagined the effects Ryu will have on her ability.
He cleared his throat. "Next?"
Cody strode forward, a bit nervously. "I, ah... I want to create a shinai," He said. "I know it doesn't sound impressive on its own, but like Ken's ability I have a way to make it more useful!" He said, as if trying to convince Killua. "My shinai... I wanted it to affect those with malicious intentions," He explained. "If I use it on those with good intentions then.. It will be just a mere shinai."
Killua couldn't help but think back on Kurapika, and the condition he used for his chains against the spiders. This conditions weren't as drastic though, and Killua for thay felt thankful. "If that's what you wish to attain then go for it."
Cody nodded and went back to the group.
The next one to come was a really eager Davis, without even being called forward. Killua gave him an impressed smile. "You thought of something, I see."
"Yuuup!" Davis said. "Listen, I wanna created missiles the size of a football, with my feet. Like... Focusing my aura and then... Kicking it..." His face dropped a bit. "Sounded cooler in my head."
"Hey, I think that sounds cool," Killua told him. "That could work as a condition. Like, you can only shoot the with your feet. Use whatever knowledge you have on football on your favor."
Davis grinned and scratched the bottom of his nose. "Oh gee, thanks sparky!" He walked back with a goofy grin on his face, already imagining himself shooting attacks.
T.K was the next to walk forward. He stood in front of Killua and showed his sleeves. "I want to manipulate my own clothes."
Killua's head flopped to the side. "Go on."
"Like you said, it must be something I use regularly," T.K said, scratching the back of his head. "So, I thought that with my Nen I can both unknot my clothe, use Shu to strengthen them, and use the threads to bind others. As a condition I set is that I can only do it with what I weare, and know of what material is made of."
Killua pictured it all on his head. And he must admit, if T.K is able to do it then it would be a pretty versatile skill. "Sounds neat, looking forward to see the results." T.K nodded with a grin and walked back to the group.
Finally, Kari walked in front of their leader and took a small breath. "I thought of a way for my aura to become stronger. I won't need to take too long to do it, or to focus it on one point," She explained. "I would only do it on a certain occasions, as a condition."
Killua's brow furrowed. "What would those occasions be?"
"The more light there is, the more my aura increases," Kari said. "That would be my condition."
Killua frowned. "That could limit you if we fight during the night, or in a place with little light." His mind drifted to that ocean, the possible of it haunting Kari again ever present on his mind.
"I know," She said. "But... I have other ways to fight it. And with my trait and my Digivice, I won't exactly ran out of light."
Killua wasn't fully convinced. "And your Specialist ability?"
She scratched her cheek and looked down. "That's still a work in progress. I prefer to discuss it in private."
Killua crossed his arms. For the first time he didn't immediately approved of an ability, and that was starting to make Kari nervous. Would he reject her idea and make her think of something else? She knew her idea was a bit risky, but with all other elements around her, and the idea she has for her other Nen type, she thought she could make it work.
Killua mulled the idea for a moment. If applies with the right conditions, then it could become a really strong power, with such limitations who knew how strong her Nen could become. But the risks...
He sighed. 'Then again many abilities possess their own risk. I could ran out of electricity, or Ken out of pages... Why am I being so critical on her?' He wondered. In the end he sighed. "As long as you're aware of the risks... It's okay."
She gave him a bright smile and nodded. "Osu!"
She went back to the group and Killua clapped his hands again. "Listen. From now on, all weekends you will all so different excersises. We'll be working on honing the abilities you came up with, try until you feel your doing it right, until you feel comfortable with what your doing. The rest of the week we'll continue working on Ryu."
"Feel right?" Davis questioned. "What does it mean?"
"You want to develop an ability that you always complain about?" Killua questioned, thinking of Kite always complaining about his Crazy Slot.
"Oh... I see your point," Davis mumbled with a headscratch.
"On another note," Killua said. "Ken," He turned to the boy.
"Yeah?"
"From now on, you'll join us in this training," He said. "As Cody's sparring partner, and to help him with his Conjuring skills, got it?"
"And what about the spars?" He asked.
"I think you've come far enough in those," Killua said with a smirk. "So I'm promoting you from student, to my assistant!"
The boy sweatdropped, not knowing what to make of that. "O-Osu."
Cody looked at the purple haired boy and gave a bow. "I look forward to working with you."
Ken smiled and copied him. "Likewise."
"Alright then people, what are you waiting for?" Killua asked. "C'mon start working on your skills!"
"Osu!"
They spread around the clearing to work on their skills.
Kari sat down with her hands extended out, with her Ten surrounding her and basically sun bathed to allow the light to fuel her aura. Similar to how Killua used sources of electricity to fuel his aura as well. Thinking on how she wanted the light to strengthen the mantle around her.
T.K was using Shu around a spare shirt of his. Wanting to find the way to use his Nen to reduce the shirt to threads and then utilize said threads.
Yolei had taken Killua's advice and was using a knife from the kitchen to try and imitate its edge with her aura. He caught glances of her running a finger along the blade, only to cut her finger a bit and sucking it after to ease the pain.
Ken was observing as Cody swung the shinai he created with his book. The boy was swinging the wood sword to test out its balance, and also running a hand along of it with his eyes closed to memorized its form ans texture.
And Davis was trying to find the way to separate a part from his Nen from his body. He would form small balls of Nen from the sole of his foot, but they would disipate before he could treat them as footballs.
Killua observed them calmly. 'Should take them a few sessions to manifest them completely. As for Ryu, with the growth their Digivices is providing them, I think in a month they should be ready. And then... We'll move on the next step.'
When night came, the usual session of meditation with T.K and Kari was taking place and soon coming to an end.
"That's it," Killua said, as he observed the screens of the Digivices. "They're glowing, it seems you finally got the hang to that feeling," He smiled.
The two cut off their concentration and looked at him. "It worked?" T.K asked.
"It kept itself glowing more than usual," Killua responded, handing the Digivices back to them. "And therefore, I think this sessions can come to an end."
"Really?" Kari questioned.
"Yup. The only thing left to do is to test it on the field," Killua explained. "But for that, we have to wait until the end of our time here and for an attack from Arukenimon. So now, you are free to join the others on going to bed early."
"Osu..." They said sighing in relief.
T.K got up and walked towards the house while stretching his limbs. Meanwhile Kari lagged behind for a moment, which Killua noticed. "What is it?" He asked her.
"Well..." She started. "It's about my Specialist ability."
Killua arched an eyebrow. "So you do have an idea?" He asked, and she nodded. "Why not said it early."
"Because... It's not battle oriented," She revealed.
Killua's eyebrow continued to rise. "And... What is it about?"
Kari extended her arm and held out an open palm. "Give me your hand."
Curiosity giving the best of him, he accepted. He put his hand on Kari's palm.
She took a deep breath and focused. She seemed to be reaching for the same mental state that allowed her Crest to shine. Her aura came out and it began to sparkle, like reflecting the sun.
Killua just stared at her in awe. The aura she was exhibiting was so soothing. It felt good...
Her aura shoned... And she explained her Specialist ability.
Davis attacked T.K with a punch charged with forty percent of his Nen. The blonde blocked it with a forearm coated with fifty percent of his own Nen, then went for a kick to his sides with seventy percent of his Nen, making the brunette to concentrate the same amount around his torso to withstood it.
Kari leaned back as he dodged a right hook from Yolei. She went for a jab with sixty percent of her Nen behind it, but the bear girl crossed her arms in front of her and blocked the punch with the same amount of Nen ans went for a side kick with fifty percent on her left foot.
Cody jumped to reach Ken's height and deliver a punch to his face with thirty percent of Nen. It was blocked swatted away by an arm coated with the same amount and followed by a jab. Cody brought his arm up and focused his Nen to block it, though he was sent back to the floor when gravity took hold, but it didn't take long for him to recover his footing.
Killua observed all of the pairs fighting against each other with a satisfied grin, while sitting on a trunk. Like he expected, a month and one week have passed since they began training with Ryu and they were already able to use it in real time during a fight.
'Should I feel jealous they have their Digivice to help?' He wondered, then scoffed inwardly. 'Nah. It's not only the Digivice doing all the work, they're all giving their best.'
As far as abilities go, they had managed to achieve them at their most basic: T.K was able to unknit the sleeves of his sweater, Yolei's aura took on sharp edges when focused on her hands, Cody was partially able to summon a shinai, Davis was able to form a sphere the size of a football for just a couple of minutes, and Kari's aura increased when her conditions were met but she has some problems keeping it.
As for her Specialist ability. She has made progress, but still needed to test it on the field.
He sat up and clapped his hands. "Wrap it up!" He called.
With one last clash, the pairings separated from each other and bowed respectfully. "Thank you so much!" They said as courtesy after the spar.
As they gathered around him to know about the next part of their training, Killua couldn't help but feel nervous about this next part of the training. Trainings dedicated to their Nen type, and to improve them.
He left in the middle of Bisky's training due to him having to participate in the Hunter Exams again to finally obtain his license, and then the Bomber and Razor became obstacles they had to surpass, as well as the small deviation they had to make when Gon wanted to check about the supposed appearance of 'Chrollo Lucifer' in the game. And how the they had to deal with Hisoka joining the group when it turned out it was him using the name as a username for the game.
Gon did explained him two of the excersises when they left the island. One was to practice making shapes with aura—Which work for Transmuters, and the other was to form a small sphere of aura and throwing it away—Which work for Emitters.
But for Manipulators and Conjurers? Yeah, maybe he'll have to improvise... And that's without mentioning Specialists.
"For the next part of the excersises, you'll move out to different parts I set around the clearing," Killua told them, gesturing around the area. "We will be focusing solely on this, including the weekends dedication to your techniques. Understood?"
"Osu!"
He guided Kari to a trunk that was next to several small rocks, as well as some bigger ones. "For your exercise, you'll be smashing all of this rocks. Once you reach a hundred, then you've cleared the excersise. Use these bigger rocks and use Ko around them," He grabbed one of the bigger rocks and showed her how to do the excersise. Then he crumbled the rock between his fist. "If the rock you're holding breaks, then you'll have to start again. after you feel you're at a hundred percent."
Normally he would make her wait another whole day, like Bisky did, but with their limited time here it was better to not skip a whole day.
He decided to make the number smaller, since a thousand rocks would take a much longer, even with the aid of the Digivices.
"Got it," She grabbed one of the big rocks and put one of the smaller ones in the trunk in front of her.
"Start!" Killua ordered.
The girl didn't wasted a second and started to smash the tinny rocks. Nodding in satisfaction, Killua moved to his next pupil, Yolei.
"Alright, as you know Transmuting is the ability of molding your aura into something else right?" Killua asked her.
"Right!" She said, eager to know what's in store for her.
"Okay, so," He took a small breath. He never actually tried the excersise himself, but he was confident he could make a small figure with it. He focused Nen on his fingertip and it slowly molded into the former of the number zero. Killua inwardly breath a sigh of relief, seems his experience using his lighting ability worked to master a level one excersise. "You will morph your aura into number, from zero to nine. You'll clear the excersise when you're able to do it in ten minutes."
Yolei hels out one hand and concentrated. "Osuuuu," She strained as her aura slowly took form.
Killua walked away and moved towards Davis, who was standing in front of a rock. "This excersise won't be that different from what you've been practicing with your technique. Just form a sphere of aura on your fingertips and launch it as far as you can. The time you keep it is proportional to the strength of your Ten. Try keeping it for a while minute and then fling it out towards those trees," He said gesturing to the trees in front of them.
"Right, right, got it..." The boy said, while looking intently at his finger. Slowly his aura started forming a sphere that separated from his fingertip. A minute passed, and he fling it, and the sphere was actually really close to hitting the trees before disipating. "Oh man!"
"Hey, it's not a bad start!" Killua said. "The goal is for you to be able to hold it for an hour, then we're clear. Remember to also practice the basics."
"Uh-huh, got it, osu!" Davis mumbled as he focused again. Determined to use this excersises to improve his ability.
Finally, Killua moved with the ones who would prove the most challenge to him. Both T.K and Cody watched him approach with expectant faces, with almost made him sigh, Ken stood next to them, not knowing what to do know that spars were over. "You two, listen. We're gonna have some problems with your training," At seeing their worries looks, he quickly clarified. "You see, my teacher, the one who taught me the advanced techniques, didn't had enough time to teach me practices made for Conjurers or Manipulators. So we'll have to improvise."
"How so?" Cody asked.
Killua looked at the boy and thought back to the other Conjurers he knew. A certain blonde came to mind. He looked at the boy and just shrugged his shoulder. "Cody, this might sound weird, but... You have to get obsessed with shinais."
"... Excuse me?" Cody blinked.
"A friend of mine, who's a Conjurer, said that he: Drawn his object, sleep with his object, smelt, heard, and licked his object, to understand all of its aspects," While Kurapika himself wasn't the one to tell him, Gon explained what Kurapika told him when he asked for advice on how to develop his ability. "I guess you'll be on the clear when... You start dreaming of shinais..."
"You don't even sound certain!" The boy protested. Then he turned to his fellow Conjurer. "Ken?"
The boy scratched the back of his head. "I mean... I did told you I spent a lot of time with all sorts of books. So I guess it came more natural for me..."
"Yeah, look on the bright side, you already have enough experiences with shinais!" Killua tried to ease the boy's worries. "Just do what you've been doing up to this point... Just take it to the extreme."
"... To taste it..." Cody sighed and sulked away, with Ken close behind to provide him with both moral support and shinais from his book.
"Welp, that was a thing," T.K said as he scratched his head. "And... What will I do then?"
Killua closed his eyes and thoughts of all the Manipulators he knows, even his brother. They all had the same thing in common, the application of aura on an object. In some way, all of the Manipulators use a bit of Emitter skills on their abilities.
His eyes opened and he walked back towards were Kari was practicing. "Come with me," T.K nodded and followed his leader.
Kari was panting as her hand trembled as she held another rock ready to smash a new one. When it made contact, both rocks broke and she leaned on the trunk, trying to catch her breath.
"You doing okay?" Killua asked with a smirk as he approached.
"S-sure..." She panted.
Killua rolled his eyes good-naturedly. "If you need a break take it. It's obvious that your Ko will grow weaker the more you use it."
"O-Osu..." She gasped out.
Killua walked to the pile of rocks to grab one and offer it to T.K. "Here."
The boy grabbed it and gave his leader a puzzled look. "What should I do now?"
"First of, use Shu around it," Killua said. Hoping this method could work. T.K nodded and used the coating technique around the rock. "Okay, now try to keep your aura around it, but without touching the rock."
T.K gulped and slowly he let go of it, while keeping his gaze on it. To their surprise the rock stayed on the air the aura still coating it despite not being in contact with T.K anymore.
"Holy crap!" T.K exclaimed. "It's working!"
"I know!" Killua said in awe. Happy that his idea actually paid off.
Eventually, after a few minutes of observing, T.K started to struggle to maintain the control and dropped to his knees, loosing the grip he had on the rock. "Okay... Who... It's harder when I'm not touching it..."
"But now we have a goal!" Killua said, clapping his back. "If you are able to do that for..." He had to thought, since he didn't had anything from Bisky's training to do the comparison in thus case. "Let's go for a half an hour. And then, you're clear."
"O-Osu."
Clapping his back again, Killua left him to continue his training and moved to the center of the clearing. Most of them were already getting tired from the training.
'Let's see how much they advance...' Killua mused. 'Maybe they can clear the levels in these remaining weeks of this month before the fourth one starts. The first month they mastered Ryu. Then it took them the second month, and one week from the third to master Ryu, as well as starting to develop their abilities. For the last month, we'll see how much they've progressed on their abilities and put them to the test on real combat.'
A rock was mercilessly smashed against another, bigger one. Kari huffed as she kept count, she was so close! "Eighy-nine." Another one. "Ninety." Another one. "Ninety-one."
Yolei furrowed her eyes as she observed the numbers forming between her fingers. "Seven, eight, nine!" She counted and then checked a stopwatch. It marked eleven minutes. "... Argh so close!" She bemoaned. "Again then," She sighed.
Davis stared at the sphere on the tip of his finger. It still had a small size, but it has been around for over fifty minutes. He held his gaze on it and waited, he was certain he could hold it for the remaining time before letting it go.
T.K had a rock floating between his hands, moving it from side to side with calmness. His face completely focused on what he was doing, and waiting for his thirty minutes to get clearance to be done.
And Cody was sitting on a meditative position, tracing his hand along the shinai. And then... He brought it close to his mouth and tasted the weapon, while sniffing it at the same time. Ken nearby watched him with a expression of sympathy.
A rock smashed against another and Kari let out a gasp of relief. "A hundred!" She gasped out, slumping backwards as she let go of the rock.
"Seven, eight, nine!" Yolei counted and dispelled her focus, to check the stopwatch. Her face beamed as she saw she managed to finish it in ten minutes. "Bingo!"
Davis counted the last remaining seconds, before he finally let the small sphere go. It flew towards the trees and impacted against the bark. The wood splintered as it make contact, leaving a big dent when compared to the size of the sphere. Davis grinned, if he could do that with a sphere the size of a pebble then imagine what he could do with his technique!
T.K finally sat up, the rock still between his hands. The half and hour was finally done, so he flung the rock against a tree. Since it was still covered with his aura, it crashed against it and got itself stuck on the bark. The blonde smirk, satisfied with the control he has achieved.
Noticing how everyone was wrapping up their training, Cody handed the shinai back to Ken. The Child of Kindness dispelled the wood sword and the younger boy concentrated. He called forth all of the sensations he felt while spending time with the shinai, and replicated it with his Nen. The handle formed in his hand, soon followed by the rest of the weapon. He tested it with a few swings and smiled in awe, for all intents and purpose it felt like a real one.
As he observed them from the doorframe, Killua allowed himself to relax. They were on the last month, and they were able to clear the excersises just in time. 'The moment of truth, I guess...' He thought as he walked to the clearing. "All right everyone, you have all cleared the excersises! Congratulations."
The Digidestined gathered in front of their leader as the Hunter assessed them. "These excersises were made so you'll have a better control over your Nen type. It's why we didn't practice your techniques as much as before. But now, I'd like to see you use your abilities, applying all that you've learned. Are you ready?"
"Osu!"
"All right, who first?" He asked, gesturing to the innocent trees of the massive forest surrounding them.
Yolei was the first to step forward, bouncing on the balls of her feet as she tried to contain her excitement. "Okey-dokey! Here I go!" She exclaimed.
She set her Ren free, before turning it into Ken. She gripped her fists and then extended her fingers on a chopping position, the aura around her hands turning a greenish blue color, and the edges turning sharper. She took another breath and used Ryu, she twenty five percent aura to each hand and observed as they seemed to become even more cutting. She smiled in satisfaction.
She charged to the tree and she swung her arm like it was a sword. The Nen cutting through the wood and causing the tree to fall at Yolei's call of: "Timber!"
Killua stared at the ability on Yolei's hands. The cutting parts were around the hand, but not touching it. Like her hand was the center of the knife and the edges the blade, that way avoiding cutting herself. "Nice work," Killua said, approving of the ability.
The girl leaped into the air and started whooping around. "Alright! Alright!"
Killua shook his head. "Okay, okay, calm down!" He said. Though the shadow of a smirk could be seen.
The bespectacled girl nodded and walked back to the line. The next one to come out was Davis, who was doing some leg stretches. "Okay, check this out Sparky!" He boasted.
He put his right leg in a position as if he was keeping a football under his foot. The aura started to take form in a way that reminded Killua of when Razor killed the fatass he faced on the sumo ring. Slowly it took form and Davis started bouncing the ball as if it was a normal football, before he finally kicked it up. When it started to descend, Davis got in position and delivered a volley kick at the sphere. It sailed towards the forest and bursted in an explosion when it impacted against a tree, and like others of its kind it fell down.
"Heh! How about that?!" Davis asked, as he put his hands on his hips.
"How many can you make?" Killua asked. "And how fast?"
"Umm..." The boy obviously seemed taken back by the question. He turned back to the trees and generated another ball, instead of playing with it he immediately kicked it towards the forest.
He repeated the process for five minutes straight, without showing signs of strain, and Killua nodded in satisfaction. "Okay, that's enough," He said. "It's obvious you can do it for a while, the excersises had allowed your reserves to grow. But consider that now that you're using more aura to make your balls, they won't last as long as the small ones you used to make."
"Got it," Davis nodded. "But aside from that, my ability is really cool huh?"
Killua rolled his eyes. "Yeah sure," He said. "Now get back in line. Next!"
The next one was Cody, though he seemed really nervous. "I'm not sure how I can test out my ability. It doesn't have the nature to cause damage like theirs," He explained.
"Just make your sword, and then attack me," Killua said. "We'll see if it's as good as a real one." He turned to the line of Digidestined. "Ken, mind leading me a shinai?"
"No problem," The boy said, summoning his book and ripping a page. He tossed the wood sword to the Hunter as it formed on his hands.
"Alright," Killua said as he got into position. "Come."
Cody took a deep breath as he formed his own shinai with Nen. He narrowed his eyes as he pictured himself on a match against his grandfather. "Men!" He yelled as he charged.
The swords clashed against the other. Cody kept himself on the offensive while Killua merely blocked and parried. Both swords kept themselves in one piece, and Killua could feel the ripples of Cody's aura on each impact.
He dropped his guard and allowed the boy to hit him, while keeping his Ten up. The sword struck against his stomach. The attack didn't damaged the Hunter, and the sword remained as strong as a real one. Killua smirked. "The form is perfect. We'll have to wait and see if the effect you want it to have actually works."
"Osu," The boy nodded and dispelled the sword.
He went back to the line and T.K was the next one to take a step forward.
The blonde raised his arms. His aura started to get stimulated and slowly his sleeves started to unknit themselves and turn into threads that waved on the air. He narrowed his eyes and looked at a tree. "Here they go!"
The threads shot forward to the tree and wrap themselves around the trunk. T.K gave a tug and the tree got disconnected from the earth, roots and all, and fell down the earth with the strength of the reinforced threads.
When he turned off his ability, his sleeves went back to normal, and T.K gave a nod of admiration. "Nice. It's as good as I pictured," He complimented.
"Thanks," T.K said, scratching the back of his head. "It's easier to do it with something I'm actually in contact with." Killua nodded and let the boy go back to the line.
Kari was the last one to step forward. She just walked to the front and let her Ren out and focused for a moment. Then her aura exploded around her with all the force only an Enhacer could muster.
Killua observed her. Her aura wasn't as big as Gon's when he used his Jajanken for the first time against Razor, but it was still something to admire.
She reared her fist back and used Ryu to focus sixty percent of her aura around her fist and reared it back. With a powerful yell she punched the tree she set as a target. The tree got broken in half, and the upper half of the tree was senr flying towards the forest.
While others gaped at her strength, Killua nodded to himself. That seemed to be about right; had it been a normal Ryu punch then the tree would have just broken in half. This? This just added more strength to that.
'That or completely obliterate the tree, but she's just getting started,' He thought. "Very good. Seems your Conditions paid off."
The aura around her dispelled and she nodded with a relieved smile. "Thank you."
"Now, about your other technique. It remains to be seen, since we didn't had any excersises for Specialists," Killua said.
"Osu," She nodded and went back to the group.
Killua, as it was usual during this four months, stared at the group to give them their last task. "Listen, your test for this month is going to be the last," He said. "You got the hang to the more practical of Nen techniques, you developed your abilities and refined them with various excersises. The last step is the most logical one... To put it to test in real combat."
The group tensed in anticipation at this. Wondering what their leader had prepared for them.
Killua crossed his arms and smirked. "And, throughout this four months I prepared the opponents you'll face as your final test!" Everyone waited for a few moments, but nothing happened. Killua's eye twitched. "I said: I prepared the opponent youll face as your final test!" Another moments. Nothing.
Killua grumbled and walked towards the pile of rocks that survied Kari's test and threw it at one of the windows. "WAKE UP! I LET YOU SLEEP IN JUST FOR THIS MOMENT, YOU IDIOTS!" He yelled.
The group sweatdropped, but then their eyes widened when they realized whom Killua was talking about.
"We heard you! We were getting ready!" A female voice echoed inside the house.
The door opened and all of the partners of the Digidestined came out. Killua walked in front of them with a disappointed pout. "Yeah, surprise is ruined. You guys, will face your partners, with your abilities, and if you beat them then graduation is in order. You'll have to beat them before the month ends, and we have to get out of here."
"Waitwaitwait!" Davis said waving his arms around. "V-Mon and the others? That's... The final test?"
"Pfff, you really think I'd leave it as just you facing them on the Rookie forms, Gatomon being the exception?" Killua asked with an eye-roll.
"You want us to face their evolved forms..." T.K said in realized. "Like Ken did while we were learning how to use, well, Ken."
"Correct," Killua said with a finger snap. "However there will be some rules, that might make things easier for you: You will choose one of their forms, and they," He pointed to the Digital Monsters, "will stick to that form for the rest of the month, until you win. To win you have to make them regress back to their base forms. I won't accept them yielding, and if you can't defeat them here, then when we go back home we'll continue through this until you guys achieve it."
"What... Form should we use?" Yolei asked, wrapping her head around the instructions.
"Whichever you like," He shrugged. "Either the Champion ones, or the more regular sized Armors."
Cody paled. All of his partner's forms were big, and the only medium sized one was next to useless on land. 'Oh crud...' He thought.
"Like Ken did, you'll fight until you feel yourself falter, then you'll rest until you're back in top condition and then right at ut again," Killua continued to instruct. "Now, go to the forest, we don't want the house getting destroyed. Gatomon will show you the way where she sparred with Ken."
"This will be... Interesting..." She said as she walked to the forest. The Digimon and Digidestined following closely.
That left the two original Nen users of the group. Ken turned to the leader. "What should I do now?"
"Well I hold off your part since you helped train them, Cody specially. And since you can fend off Champions, the logical step will be against an Ultimate."
"T-Then... Should I...?" Wormmon, the only Digimon left behind, asked nervously.
"Mmmm... Yes and no," Killua said. "You will evolve into Ultimate, but not against Ken."
Both partners exchanged a glance and then glanced back at the boy. "Then... Who-"
They were interrupted as Killua allowed his Ren to explode around him. The eager smirk on his face being answer enough.
As one, Wormmon and Ken gulped.
"V-Mon Armor Digivolves to... Flamedramon! The Courageous Fire!"
"Hawkmon Armor Digivolves to... Shurimon! The Ninja of Purity!"
"Armadillomon Digivolves to... Ankylomon!"
"Patamon Armor Digivolves to... Pegasusmon! The Flying Hope!"
The Digimon stood to one side of the clearing, Gatomon being the only one to not change upon Kari's decision. "So, I am fine like this?" She asked.
Kari nodded. "Yup. You are strong like that, and it would be a good way to start."
"Partner, I think you and I will need more space..." Ankylomon said, gesturing to go to another part of the forest. "Me being jumbo size might be a problem for them."
Cody looked around and decided his partner was right. "Alright. Let's get going."
As the two left towards a different space for their spar, the rest of the Digidestined turned to face their partners.
"Okay!" Davis said stepping forward. "Listen y'all, I don't want you to come at us with half-assed attacks. It's all or nothing!" He demanded. "Otherwise, we won't know if this actually works."
"You sure, Davis?" Flamedramon asked. "All of you?" He added, looking at the other kids.
In response all of them let their Ren out and extended their hands outwards. "Osu!"
The Digimon all decided to comply at their request and got ready.
The clearing was a bit quiet and tense as the respective pairings spread across the clearing and got into position.
The first spat to start was Davis and Flamedramon. The boy focused his Nen on his feet and produced his ball of Nen and kicked it to his partner. Flamedramon merely side-stepped and jumped as his body covered in flames. "Fire Lariat!"
The armored Digimon came rocketing down towards the boy. Davis yelped and leaped back to avoid his partner's attack. Flamedramon landed, the floor cracking at his feet. His hands lit in fire. "Fire Rocket!"
Three missiles of fire were launched at the boy. Who crossed his arms and used Ken to absorb the blast. A small explosion took place and Flamedramon charged, his fist blazing. "Fire Knuckle!"
Davis leaned to the side, and narrowed his eyes. He focused aura on his leg, he ducked and swept his partner's feet. Flamedramon fell, but managed to land on a handstand to backflip away from his opponent. His knuckes blazed and he prepared another Fire Rocket.
Davis responded in kind, he reared his left foot back and Nen gathered at the tip. "Take this!" He yelled as he released the energy in the form of a ball.
Flamedramon released his rockets at the same time, and a small explosion took place when both attacks collided. Davis covered himself from the smoke, leaving him open from when Flamedramon jumped from out of the smoke and decked him in the face. "Agh!"
Davis was sent flying across the clearing, until his body hit a tree. He winced and straightened himself, while glaring at his partner. "Dick move, dude."
Flamedramon smirked. "Learned from the best."
Davis let his Ren out and charged again.
This wasn't the only fight going on of course.
T.K was hanging to Pegasusmon's wings by the threads of his sleeves. The equine Digimon struggling with the added weight of his partner and the unnatural strength of the strings from his sleeves. He decided to let himself fall, meaning he would land on top of T.K.
The blonde had to let go and jump out of his partner's way. Pegasusmon took the air again and flapped his wings. "Shooting Stars!"
T.K rolled out of the way as his partner's attack rained on him. He shot his arm forward and the strings from his long sleeves shot forward to trap his partner.
Pegasusmon raised himself even higher to dodge the constant shots from T.K. He forced his partner on the run, to avoid getting hurt from the stars falling down to him.
Yolei charged and tried her best to hit her partner with her blades made of Nen. But Shurimon used his spring legs to jump out of the way, and jump into three branches out of her partner's way. "Hold still!" She complained, as she used her blades to cut down the trees the ninja was using to escape her.
"So you can cut me?!" Shurimon asked as he leaped out of the way. "I don't think so! Flying Chainsaw!" He threw the large shuriken on his back.
Yolei yelped and ducked to the side, rolling over she glared at her partner as he landed in front of her. "Dang it!" She moaned as she charged again.
Kari has tried to land a single blow on Gatomon. But as usual her small size worked on her favor, and allowed her to dodge all of the strikes the girl tried to land on her.
When Gatomon had tried to summersault over Kari's head, she responded by grabbing her tail to try and hold her for long enough to deliver a hit. But Gatomon acted fast and her eyes flowed. "Cat's eyes beam!"
"Ah!" Kari yelped and let go of her partner to dodge the beam. Gatomon landed in front of her with a cheeky grin and Kari scowled at her. "Grr..." Her aura flared around her and charged again.
And in another clearing. Cody ducked a swing from his partner's giant tail, as he held his shinai with white knuckles. His ability proving to be next to useless against his partner, who he knows for a fact doesn't have any vile intentions.
"C'mon Cody!" Ankylomon said a bit too cheerfully. "I know ya can hit me partner!"
The poor boy could only take on a calming breath before charging again.
"I should have really gotten used to seeing you death on your feet," Killua commented as he munched his rice. The six Digidestined all slumped down, and with more bruises than usual. "But I still found this amusing."
"Fuck off," Many of them muttered. Surprisingly Ken was amongst them, guy probably was having flashbacks of their previous fights when he was the Emperor.
Poor Minomon was off to the side, being feeded by an understanding V-Mon as he noticed his slight battered form.
"Well, at the least you managed to last the whole day, with breaks in between of course," Killua said. No way they were ready to go on a fight for a full day without taking a rest. "That's something."
"It would have been easier if SOMEONE DIDN'T JUMPED FROM TREE TO TREE!" Yolei screeched, glaring at her partner.
"I wasn't going to let you cut me down!" The hawk defended himself.
The girl grumbled and then looked at the leader. "Killua, how do you use that jump thing. I've seen you take off like a rocket from time to time."
"That's just focusing Nen on your legs and then letting it burst out," Killua said. "If you think you can use it, then you'll have to take some time off the spars to practice it. With the Digivice's aid, maybe you'll do it before the month ends."
The girl slumped down again, forehead hitting the table and letting out a despaired moan.
T.K smiled and patted her back. "Maybe we can do it together. After all, I also want to learn to use it to reach Pegasusmon more easily."
Davis hummed. "I think I wanna learn that too. Maybe I can do more epic bicycle kicks mid-air that way!"
"I want to join too," Cody said. "It might help since my partner is way too big..." He said sheepishly.
"Now that you're all proposito the idea, I should join too..." Kari said, scratching her cheek.
"That sounds nice," Yolei smiled, feeling better at the prospect of not learning something brand new by herself.
Killua set his utensils down. "Well, sounds like you guys have a plan. If you need any help on how to use it, I'm willing to hear it and lend some help."
"Osu," They both said.
"I... Have a question," Ken said, raising a hand, which at the moment seemed like a titanic quest for him.
"Yeah?"
"What is the point of our spars?" He asked. "You were able to hold me and Minomon off, how can I know when I cleared the stage?"
"Our spars aren't meant to be a test," Killua said. "In my opinion you've already graduated on all the teachings I wanted to give. Our spars are for you to form more endurance, to adapt against stronger opponents. And I don't put you against JewelBeemon directly since—A: I don't think you're at the same level as an Ultimate, and B: I need to train as well."
"... That last point sounds selfish," Kari frowned at him.
"It is," He shamelessly replied. "I also have to keep must in form."
"Fair enough," Both Ken and Kari nodded.
"Alright, if dinner's over, go to sleep. Take your turns for the bathroom, and get ready for tomorrow. We have another thirty days ahead of us."
"Osu..." They collectively groaned.
Kari yawned as she walked to the back of the clearing. She was tired... But this was important.
Killua was already waiting there, sitting with his legs crossed. When he saw her, his brows furrowed together. "You sure you have energy for this? Tomorrow is going to be just as today."
"I know," She said, shaking her head to get rid of the drowsiness. "But I can't just leave this ability on hold."
Killua sighed. "You have a point..." He sharpened his nails and hold one finger outwards and then pressed it against his palm. "Ready?"
She nodded. Taking a deep breath and letting the glow cover her. "Ready."
Killua nodded... And dragged his finger across his palm.
The weeks blurred by. Their last test to beat their partners didn't seemed to be getting any close to being cleared for the Digidestined however. Even if they were starting to get used to using their abilities on real time, their partners always seemed to have the upper hand.
They had practiced the propelling technique. They didn't reached Killua's level, not even getting close to Tsezguerra, their highest being just four meters.
It was nighttime, and tomorrow was the last day of the month. Their last chance at passing the test before the forest, in Piximon's words, kicked them off. And they were getting anxious.
"Alright," Davis said as he looked around. "I'm open for ideas. Tomorrow is our last day, after that this place is going to close off!"
"We're getting close," Kari said. "But at best we're equal to them, at worst we're slightly weaker."
"I know Killua said we can continue trying when we're done but..." Cody frowned. "If we don't finish it here... Then I feel like we failed..."
The group fell into silence at that. It was true, they didn't liked the idea of not finishing this last test after the end of the month. They entered to be ready for what might come after, not to continuing delaying it.
The one who has been the most quiet is T.K, who had his chin cupped with one hand.
Yolei noticed. "Something on your mind."
"Guys... Remember the rules Killua set?" He asked them.
"His rules?" Kari perked an eyebrow. "They were... That we chose one of their forms, that they stick to that form, and to win we had to regress them, and that he won't accept them yielding."
"Exactly," He nodded. "All this time, we've been fighting them one-on-one. But now, I think we need a different approach." He looked at them with a determined look. "We have to work all together."
The group exchanged looks and looked at the blonde, waiting for what he had in mind.
The last day has arrived. And the Digidestined gathered on the clearing, and their spars commenced as usual.
Davis launched a sphere to Flamedramon, who countered with his Fire Rockets. A small explosive took place and both partners charged against one another, their forearms clashed and they pushed to gain the upper hand.
T.K jumped using his propelling technique, Pegasusmon flew higher to get away from him, but the boy shot the strings of his shirt to latch to his legs. Pegasusmon started flying around trying to get him to let go. But the boy stubbornly held on.
Shurimon leaped from tree to tree with Yolei in hot pursuit, cutting down the trees so her partner will lose any place to run.
Gatomon jumped and tried to hit Kari, the girl crossed her arms and blocked the attack. She pushed Gatomon back and aimed for a kick, but the cat jumped out of the way. Her eyes narrowish and throwing a Cat's Eyes Beam to her. Kari leaned out of the way and charged, rearing her first back to continue attacking.
Cody, on his own clearing, avoided getting smashed by his partner's tail. The boy ducked low and charged with his shinai in hand, Ankylomon could only tank the hit, as his body didn't allowed him to dodge, but the shinai lacked the strength to truly hurt the burly Digimon.
As Davis leaped back after another clash with Flamedramon, his eyes narrowed. 'Guess it's time...' He thought, forming another sphere at his feet.
Flamedramon's fist ignited, ready to counter the attack again with his Fire Rocket.
Davis reared his foot back and kicked the sphere. However, it wasn't aimed at Flamedramon. It sailed pass the fire Digimon and flew towards another objective, much to the flaming Digimon's shock. "What?!"
Pegasusmon didn't see it coming. So distracted by trying to get T.K to let him go, he didn't saw the sphere until it struck. "Ugh!" He grunted as his body shook from the impact, momentarily loosing altitude.
T.K took his chance. He used his strings to balance himself over his partner's head and brought his fists together, focusing his aura in them. 'We were focusing on fighting our partners individually, that we didn't realized we could help each other out to beat them!' He thought. This was his plan. Their last attempt to pass the test.
"RAAAAAH!" The blonde yelled as he delivered a two handed punch on the head of the pegasus.
The horse hit the floor and the blonde landed with a crouch. Everyone stopped their fight to see the results of the impact.
The smoke cleared and a slightly battered Patamon laid on the floor.
T.K felt conflicted. For one part, his plan worked, by combining their abilities they took out his partner. On the other, he didn't liked seeing Patamon like this.
'I... I'll apologize later!' He decided with a headshake. 'We have a chance now that they're down by one!'
"Hey! That was cheating!" Flamedramon complained.
Davis gave him a cheeky smile. "Nu-uh, it wasn't! The rules were to beat you, until you guys regressed," He said. "Nothing ever said it had to be one-on-one!"
"Exactly!" Flamedramon's body suddenly found himself wrapped by strong threads. His head turned back to look at T.K. The blonde smirked. "Working together, we can take you down!"
Shurimon jumped with narrowed eyes. "If that's the case then we can do the same!" He extended his arms forward. "Flying Chainsaw!"
The two blades were aimed at T.K's threads to set Flamedramon free. But someone jumped behind him and hit him on the side of the head, causing him to lose concentration and for his arms to reel back.
Yolei smirked as she landed down along with her partner. She took a page from his book and used a branch as a platform to propell herself to his level. That way she reached him and took him down while he was distracted. "Forgetting about someone partner?"
Shurimon got back to his feet, realizing he had to find a way around Yolei to help Flamedramon.
Gatomon watched this with narrowed eyes. Then she turned to her partner with a smile. "I don't suppose you'll let me go and help, right?"
Kari smirked. "Nope. Sorry."
Gatomon shook her head with a smirk and got in position. "I thought so."
Flamedramon scowled. "Don't worry about me! I can free myself!" He said. "Fire Lariat!" His body combusted in flames, forcing T.K to let go of him. He flew up and aimed to attack the boy, but a sphere took him out of course. He landed on the floor with a grunt of pain. "Ugh!"
He looked up to see Davis and T.K looking down at him. Both with triumphant grins. "Ready, T.P?" He asked eagerly.
"Ready!" The blonde said and the two of them charged.
Both charged forward and focused aura around their fists. They both buried their knuckles on his gut. Flamedramon let out a gasp of pain and reversed back to V-Mon.
Davis looked down at his partner with pity, and a bit of shame. "Sorry buddy..."
T.K clasped a hand on his shoulder. "We'll make it up for them," He reassured.
Davis nodded and the two went to help the girls.
As Gatomon jumped again to deck Kari across the face with her Neko Punch, her body was suddenly immobilized by strong strings. She glared back to see T.K focusing on keeping her down. "Now Kari!"
Gatomon looked up to see her partner rearing her fist back. Gatomon could only sigh. "Smart kitten."
The Child of Light could only give her an apologetic smile. "Sorry," She said before delivering a powerful haymaker that knocked the cat down.
Shurimon threw his shuriken forward. Yolei rolled to the side and charged. Shurimon jumped again with the help of his springs, but was quickly taken down by a ball of Nen that struck him square in the face. "Gah!"
He stumbled back and his legs returned to their normal size. He didn't have time to compose himself, when Yolei charged at him. "Bingo!" She yelled in victory as she slashed him down. Not deep enough to cause permanently damaged, but to allow him to regress.
Yolei quickly scooped Hawkmon on her arms. "I hope I didn't went overboard..." She turned around to see Davis' grinning face. "Thanks for the save."
"It was nothing," He said, returning the grin. "But enough chatter, Cody is still going against Ankylomon."
"That's right," T.K said, Patamon scooped on his arms. "We'll leave them here, and we'll come back after we help Cody."
Everyone nodded and left their unconscious partner sleeping under a tree and went off to the other clearing where their youngest member was facing his partner.
As they left, two figures emerged from the trees. "Do you approve of what they did?" Ken asked, dropping his Zetsu, Wormmon on his arms.
"Yup!" Killua chirped, dropping his Zetsu as well. "Honestly? I'm disappointed it took them this long to figure it out. They met the conditions of the rules, I would have also accepted it if they actually beat them one on one."
"Better late than never, right?" Wormmon said.
Since this was the last day, Killua decided to skip his spar with Ken and watch how the others would fair against their partners. See if they met the conditions of his rules.
"So they pass?" Ken asked again.
"They do," Killua nodded. "Let's head back, sorry to say for Ankylomon but all of them against him? Yeah, the result is obvious." He said with a chuckle.
Cody leaped back to gain distance as Ankylomon lashed out with his tail again. He circled around his partner and charged towards his head. The dinosaur raised his front paws and Cody crouched, focusing Nen on his feet.
"Megaton Press!" Ankylomon slammed his paws on the floor, liberating a tremor on the floor.
Cody released the Nen, his body raising four meters on the air and avoiding the attack. He gripped his shinai and brought it down on his head. Yet the armored head of the Champion proved to be too sturdy for a simple sword made of wood.
Cody landed and quickly jumped back as Ankylomon turned and used his tail to attack. 'As repetitive as his attacks are they're effective,' He thought with frustration. But it was either the dinosaur, the submarine, or the jet fighter/pterodactyl. 'Please hurry, guys!'
Ankylomon raised his paws. "Megatons-"
"Energy Soccer!"
A ball of Nen impacted against the exposed belly of the Digimon, causing it to fall backwards like an oversized turtle.
Cody let out of relief as the others came out of the forest. "What a relief," He sighed, as the others gathered around him. "Thanks guys."
"No prob!" Yolei grinned, allowing her aura to form. "Also..." She gave Davis a deadpan stare. "Energy Soccer?"
"Our abilities need names okay!" Davis huffed. "I can just call it: Soccer ball made of Nen!"
"I think it was a good start, just needs a bit of work," Kari reassure him. Already thinking of names for her ability. 'Maybe... Sunlight!'
"Focus!" T.K said. "We still need to beat one last of our partners."
Ankylomon managed to roll to the side and straighten himself. He noticed the newcomers and blinked. "Uh... You guys?" He gulped. "Oh oh..."
"Let's go!" Davis said, charging another ball and launching it.
It struck Ankylomon straight in the face, blinding him as an explosions detonated righr in front if him. Yolei, Kari and Cody charged together.
All three of them charged their Nen on their feet and jumped to get to the level of his head. By the time he could see again, he saw three Nen users about to strike him. 'Owww... Son of a bitch.'
The three struck at once and the force was enough to knock the yellow Digimon out and regress him back to his Rookie form.
The three landed and stared at the knocked out Digimon. "Sorry, Armadillomon..." Cody said, dispelling his sword and scooping him on his arms.
"Yeah, that part was hard..." Yolei said, pating his shoulder. Then she grinned. "On other news...!"
The group realized that now with Armadillomon down, they've done it. Their last test was completed.
The dam broke and like one they all jumped into the air in triumph.
"WE DID IT!"
Lunchtime was nearing, and the Digidestined emerged from the clearing with their partners in arms. Their winning grins, and the proud smiles on the few Digimon who had recovered consciences told Killua and Ken everything they needed to know.
"Welcome back," Ken greeted.
Killua walked to them and smiled. "Congrats. You've graduated."
Davis blinked. "That's it? No balloons or fanfares?" He asked.
"Right, because I packed that before coming," Killua drawled. "In all seriousness. You guys came really far in these four months. Digivice or not."
"So what now?" Yolei asked. "Do we get to kick Arukenimon's ass?"
"It's certainly possible," Killua conceded, remembering the trap they set on the giant house and how that helped beat her. "But remember to not get ahead of yourself."
He grabbed a stick lying on the floor and started drawing on the floor. He made crude sketches of BlackWargreymon's head, along with JewelBeemon's, Gatomon's, and then V-Mon's. Each of them obviously representing their respective stages.
"Right now the power scale would be like this," He said as he continued drawing. He made lines in between each of the heads, and then more drawing beneath the ones he made. "Right now, I'm here," He made a drawing of his face beneath BlackWargreymon's. "Ken is here," He draw Ken's face in the line between JewelBeemon and Gatomon, above a Champion but beneath an Ultimate. "And you guys are obviously here," He said drawing them beneath Gatomon's. "So be careful to not get ahead of yourselves from whatever that woman might throw."
"We know," Kari said with a nod.
"And also remember that we will continue on our sessions," Killua said with a smile. "That we you guys will always continue to improve. And that way, all together."
He made drawings of all on their faces, surrounding drawings of their four enemies—Arukenimon, Mummymon, Blademon, and BlackWargreymon.
"We will take them down!" He declared with a grin. He turned to them. "Understood?!"
"OSU!" They all responded, mirroring his grin.
"Osu~" Came the slurred reply of the recently awakened Digimon.
Everyone chuckled at seeing them joining in their action.
"Alright," Killua said, clasping his hands. "Let's get some grub and a good night of sleep. Sounded good?"
He received rounds of positive answers. Without any further discussion they entered the shack to spend their last day in it.
Davis was slumbering peacefully when he suddenly felt something poking his cheek. "Hrngud... V-Mon, I swear if you need to go to the bathroom, go alone!"
"How rude to say that. Pi."
His eyes shot open and he was greeted with the smirking face of Piximon. "GAH!" He bolted forward, Ten rising up instantly. "H-HOW DID YA GET HERE?!"
"I never left in this four hours, Pi," He said.
Everyone else started to awaken and noticed they were no more in the shack and rather at the same entrance to the forest.
"What... How?" Kari questioned.
"I told you when the forest fulfills its time, it would kick you out, Pi," The small Digimon said.
"I didn't expected to be so literal," Killua mumbled as he sat up.
Piximon floated in front of them. "You all look stronger, Pi," He said as he looked them up and down. "It seems you've achievement your goals there, Pi." He folded his arms behind his back. "So... What will you do now, Pi?"
"Go home, obviously," Yolei said. "Can't believe I say this but... I miss my siblings, can't wait to see them again," She said wistfully. "And mom and dad! Jeez, four months are no joke..."
"Welp, there goes my peace away from Jun I guess..." Davis mumbled, though the smirk on his face was hard to miss.
T.K allowed his Ten to flow. "Can't wait to show this to Matt..." He mumbled.
Cody and Ken weren't as vocal, but they were eager to see their parents soon, and grandfather in Cody's case.
"While I assume that to be the case, Pi," Piximon said, drawing their attention. "I was asking what will you do next when faced with your enemies, Pi. You feel ready to face then, Pi?"
Everyone exchanged looks for less than a second before responding with a nod. "Yes!"
Piximon nodded. "That's all I needed to hear, Pi."
The group left the mansions shortly after. Their new abilities flowing through their bodies and ready to be used. And with their enemies lurking in the shadows, sooner or later they'll be put to the test.
For now, it's time to go home.
"I AM DONE WITH THIS EFFING TRAINING ARC!!!"
"I'm sorry if the pacing was hurried, or if the group's progress didn't made sense. I did what I could, Nen is way to complex to work with ;-;"
"Since in the HxH manga it was never showed a training for Manipulators and Conjurers, I had to improvised. At least Kurapika gave us some hints, but nothing for Manipulators. The training I gave T.K was one that was theorized about in some Reddit forums, so I took it from there. And from how other Manipulators always seem to use some form of Emitter skill."
"Now, some of the Digidestined's skills are based on an anime. Yolei has blades similar to the Chakra scalpels from Naruto, T.K has the same ability as Best Jeanist (Just less powerful since he can only control only his clothes) Davis' while isn't exactly a rip-off like the other two, takes some inspiration from the Inazuma Eleven franchise, and Kari's, while not identical, takes inspiration from Jo-Jo's Hamon. The only original one is Cody's, one that fits both his personality and Crest.""As for Kari's Specialist ability. I think I left a pretty strong hint on this chapter. It's not exactly combat oriented, so we might not see it so frequently."
"Tell me where I went wrong, where I went right. I think I flunked a bit on this, but... I couldn't think of any other way to carry this section."
"Fav X and X Review!!!"
