REVIEWS! I've actually been having less reviews these last chapters… Am I doing something wrong?
Zero Fullbuster: At least I can always count on you for a review, pal.
Felipe1402XZA: A problem ends, and another one begins dude.
I put a lot of effort in all of my chapters, especially those with heavy moments like the last one. Thanks for noticing.
Killua will… deal with it this chapter.
Poor Blademon had a short draw on his short life.
Well I'd like to hear your thoughts on how Oikawa managed to know about Killua so well to make a carbon copy for his plans.
Thank you, reviews like this that tells me how they feel about each aspect of the chapter (be it good or bad) inspire me to keep writing more.
I hope the idea works. Though I know it'll be a nightmare to write.
Thank you.
N:Ageless: Comadreeeeee.
1-something comes in, something comes out.
2-yup being always my idea to make him his Baby form.
3-I'm finally writing in my computer, new keyboard! So maybe those orthography mistakes will lessen from now on.
4-I didn't noticed that :,,,)
Happy delayed holidays everyone. And happy New Year 2022!
'Please work. Please work. Please work!' Kari begged as she pressed her hands on what she felt was Killua's injury, T.K using his jacket to stop the bleeding.
This was the first time she was going to use her Specialist ability to this extent and she was scared. Scared that it might not work, scared that it would somehow make things worse, scared that Killua—her leader, friend, hero—could die, because there was so much blood and-
"Kari!" She felt two hands pressing against hers, and her head snapped to the side. Gatomon stared at her with unmoving resolve. "It's going to be okay," she reassured, giving her a smile.
Kari stared at her partner, before briefly looking around to see Davis and T.K giving her looks of reassurance, but she could also see the worry and expectation on their eyes.
She took another calming breath. She can do this, she has to do it.
Her aura flowed around her and both her Digivice and her Ten started to glow. She pressed her hands against his chest and remembered the sessions she had with Killua back on the training grounds.
She observed as Killua dragged his clawed hand across his palm. She cringed a bit when she saw the crimson liquid pour from beneath his skin.
He extended his hand and gave her a nod to signal her to start. She cupped her hands around his palms and focused.
Her aura and body started to glow, and from her pocket her Digivice glowed as well with the Crest of Light on its screen. Her aura covered the open wound on the hand and caused it to glow like her body did, she wound slowly started to close with Kari's twisting at the strain.
Slowly, but steadily, the cut healed completely. Killua retrieved his hand and closed it up a few times to confirm that it worked. He stared at his eyes with wide eyes and a smirk. "Cool, it really works- Hey!"
He acted just in time as Kari started swaying and almost fell to the floor. He caught her and stared at her with worry. "Are you okay?" He asked, setting her down gently.
"Yeah, that... Took a lot more out of me than I thought," she said, pressing a hand against her head to reduce the small headache.
Killua hummed in acceptance and sat in front of her. "So, how does it work? How do you make it work?" He asked.
With the small pain leaving her head, Kari looked at her leader with a smile. "Well... I thought back to that fabric from five years ago... with the Numemon," she said, her smile getting a bit sad.
Killua hid the flinch at that reminder. For him that event was fresher than her, considering the time difference of their worlds. "Right..."
"I remember that, whatever that light was, helped them recover their strength and even Piyomon's and Gatomon's," She said. "So... When I glow I want my Nen to heal the wounds of others."
"... So basic you're going to transfer your aura to others to heal?" He frowned. "That sounds dangerous for you."
"It will depend on injury's extend!" She said quickly. "Small dosages for small wounds, and... bigger ones for bigger wounds," She trailed off as she saw Killua giving her an unimpressed look with a raised eyebrow. She blushed and looked down in embarrassment.
He sighed. "The idea isn't wrong. But you'll have to be really careful, remember that your aura is your life energy. And the light and Crest can only help so much... But then again you are also an Enhancer, so you have plenty aura reserves to share," He explained, making her perk up. "But that doesn't mean you can go around just healing every little wound!" He told her firmly. "Save it, only use it in case of dire emergency okay? This'll be the only exceptions since we are practicing it."
Kari nodded eagerly as her Specialist ability was accepted by her leader, "Osu!"
Killua nodded and extended his hand again. "We'll continue two more times; you still have to rest so you can have energy to fight Gatomon and the others tomorrow."
The girl nodded again and prepared her aura as Killua dragged his claw against his palm again.
'If this isn't a dire situation, then I don't know what is!' She exclaimed in her mind as her aura started pulsating against Killua's body.
A shot of relief went through her and the others as they saw a reaction, Killua's face morphed with slight discomfort, proof that he was still responding despite his current state. Kari didn't stopped, she pumped as much aura as she could and observed as the large wound on his torso started to close.
Her vision however, started to get cloudy and her hands trembled, while sweat fell from her face. This... This was getting hard. Even back during training, Killua only make cuts along his arms or legs for Kari to heal, nothing something so... so... lethal.
'C'mon! C'mon! It's... It's almost done!' She told herself as she stared at the closing wound. She bit her lip and pressed onwards.
Seconds ticked slowly and her hands clenched over his chest. But eventually, slowly—agonizingly slow—the last trails of wounds closed. Killua let out a groan, but kept his eyes closed, still unconscious, but alive, and now away from danger.
"It worked!" Davis cheered, glad to see Killua was healed. "Kari that was amazing!"
"Now, we have to get him out of here," T.K said, also smiling in relief.
"Take him back to the Human World?" Cody questioned, looking at the older boys.
Kari didn't respond. She let out a shaky breath of both relief and exhaustion. Her body fell to the side and crashed softly against the dirt.
"Kari!" Gatomon gasped.
The others shifted their attention from Killua to Kari. Davis helped her sit up and looked at her with worry. "What happens, you okay?!"
She panted and tried to get her breathing back in order before nodding. "Y-yeah..." She said. "That... Ability just... Takes a lot... For me..."
T.K smiled. "But it did the work," He said, looking back at Killua who was being helped by their partners to be in a more comfortable position. "He's okay. You saved him."
Kari smiled and tears of relief gathered around her eyes. "Thank goodness..."
Agumon looked at Killua and then at the others. He was glad. Glad that they made it in time, and that Killua was okay now. But that relief was replaced with another worry, about a truth he and Killua unveiled moments ago. "Guys... There's something we need to talk about." He said nervously, calling their attention.
"Run that by me again, because I think—no, I had to have heard you wrong!" Davis exclaimed as he heard Agumon's explanation.
Agumon rubbed his arm nervously as everyone processed what they just heard. The Reaper, the Emperor's former second in command, helper on Arukenimon's and Mummymon's plans, was Killua's partner. The Digimon that constantly went on his way to try and kill their leader was, in fact, his partner!
"This… This doesn't make sense…" Kari said. "Why would he believe all of that? That Killua abandoned him? He'd never do something like that."
"I don't know…" Agumon said with a sigh. "He accused Killua of all that, then he went nuts and screamed then he just… Glitched…"
Gatomon's ears were lowered ever since the revelation came out. She couldn't help but feel identified with Blademon's situation. However, she couldn't understand why he went through the things he did, unlike her he remembered what he was supposed to do, with whom he was supposed to be, yet he tried to kill Killua time and time again. They were still missing a piece of the puzzle.
Her ears perked up when she heard what Agumon said. "Glitched?"
"Yeah, his body became like static and then he… disappeared."
Kari caught Gatomon's eye as they both tensed. The same phenomenon happened to them both times they got transported to the Dark Ocean. 'On top of everything, he is now on that place.' Gatomon sighed. He was out of their reach. Unable to give them answers.
T.K frowned and ran a hand through his head. "This… I guess this solves the mystery of the kidnapped baby…" He said with a sigh. "The only ones that can give us answers now are…"
"Arukenimon and Mummymon," Cody finished for him, also frowning. "They're clearly behind all of this!"
The Rookies were all looking after Killua, who was still unconscious, hovering almost protectively over the boy. "What do we do now?" V-Mon asked.
The group turned to look at the small dinosaur for a moment before pondering on his question. This day has been long, far too long. First they discovered that their enemies were targeting new areas they have never seen before. Then they have another Mega on their side. Then BlackWargreymon appears, not fighting against them, but not with them either, only wanting to fight and destroy BlackMetalGarurumon. And then, well, everything with Killua.
"S-should we just go then?" Armadillomon asked, sounding unsure.
Kari frowned. Today they hadn't achieved anything at all, even after developing their Nen techniques. At the very least they hoped they could get some answers. Answers about what their enemies want, what happened to Blademon,
"No," A low voice said. "Not yet."
Everyone turned to see with great relief as Killua sat up. He looked fine, but he had a visible frown on his face and his brows were furrowed in thought.
Despite everything, Kari smiled at seeing him up. "Killua," She walked to him, everyone else doing the same. "How are you?"
When he didn't responded immediately she felt a bit worried. He let out a sigh and tried to sit up. "I'm alive. I can't complain, really."
"Dude, take it easy," Davis said, giving him a hand on sitting up. "You just came back to the land of the living."
Killua nodded absentmindedly. "Got it," He said in a low tone. "As I was saying, I don't think we should go yet."
"You just got out from a battle against The Reaper, you were badly injured. We really should go back home so you can rest," T.K said.
He didn't say anything for a while. His gaze not meeting any of their own, he just kept his eyes on the floor with a deep frown. Debating with himself what to do.
"There's a place I need to go," he finally said. "I need to go there now."
The group exchanged looks at the sudden request from their leader. Kari looked at him with a worried expression and asked, "Does it have to be right now?"
"Yes," He responded with no hesitation. "Just… Listen if you want to leave its okay, I just think that going over there might… Help clear some things. I'll contact you when I'm done to go back…"
Again his behavior was causing worry amongst the group. He rarely clung to a decision like this, and every time they needed to retreat he would be the one to make the call. They weren't in any danger at the moment though, but going home right now seemed like the best course of action.
Still something on their leader's demeanor seemed to indicate that he wasn't backing down. Even telling them to go away if they wanted, he was going to that place and they doubted there was anything they could to do stop them.
"Alright," Kari finally said with a nod. "If you think it's a good idea, we'll go."
Killua looked at her and let out a sigh and gave a small nod. "Thank you."
Davis folded his arms behind his head. "So, where exactly are we going now?"
"To the underground city," Killua said. "Gennai's place," His eyes narrowed a bit as he spoke. "I think he might have something to say."
It makes sense to them. Gennai was the only one that could provide them answers of what those temples were and why Arukenimon was targeting them now. And well, confirm if Blademon was truly the kidnapped baby.
The four chosen got their Digivices out and raised them to make their partners evolve into their aerial forms. Exveemon carried both Davis and Killua on his hands.
"You're coming Agumon?" Kari asked, getting on Nefertimon's back.
"Yeah, but I don't think I can to Gennai's place..." A yawn escaped his jaws as he rubbed his eyes. "I don't think I'll have energy of what he has to say..."
Kari giggled at her brother's partner and nodded. "Okay, you can sleep on the ride and we'll tell you what we learned."
Agumon nodded and climbed on Nefertimon's back. And so they all took off.
The white haired Hunter sat on Exveemon's hand with his arms crossed and his eyes looking down at the floor passing by as they fly. His mind was replaying all of the events of the fight over and over again. Repeating the words he had roared, the desperation on his eyes as he wanted Killua to confirm what he believed was true, repeating that desperate scream when that red aura dissipated from him.
Then there's the look of his eyes. They were lost, unfocused, confused, trying to understand his surroundings as he stumbled away and just… vanished from the field.
Killua clenched his fists as he tried to make some sense of what happened. 'Partner... is he my partner? Did he... invent all of that? ... No, no the look on his eyes. All of those emotions were too real, but how, and why? Why would he think all of that was real?'
He relaxed his fists and took a deep breath. 'Gennai might not have answers to that, but he might have some!' He thought with exasperation.
He just needed to know what was going… and how to proceed from there.
The entrance to the city looked as beautiful as always, with the crystals working as their guiding light. The walk downwards was accompanied by a heavy silence however, none of the Digidestined really thinking of something to say, and their leader being more silent than usual. The only sound being Agumon's small snores from Kari's back.
They passed by the two PawnChessmon who were leaning on their spears and snoring loudly.
The city was quieter than they've ever seen it before. It makes sense since it was the middle of the night; even in a town where the sun doesn't exactly shines they must have a sense of time to know when it was night and when it was day.
T.K scratched the back of his head. "I hope we won't be a bother; Gennai might be sleeping."
"We all had a shitty night, he can suck it up," Killua cut in, not turning back to see them.
The response took the group by surprise, with T.K raising an eyebrow at the edge on Killua's voice while Davis and Cody frowned at him. Kari however eyed their leader with worry.
They reached the house where their allies were living. Killua started to knock his knuckles against the wooden door rapidly. "Gennai! Come out here!" He called loudly.
Kari walked forward and gave him an uncomfortable look. "Not so loud, you could wake Agumon and the other Digimon up," she said, gesturing to the sleeping reptile on her back.
Killua didn't paid attention and continue to knock. "Then if this doesn't work, I'll just enter through a window."
Kari was about to retort when the door slowly opened and her attention shifted to the person behind it.
Everyone, even Killua, did a double take when instead of the middle-aged man they just met a few days back, was now a young adult with a small beard on his chin and long hair tied in a ponytail.
The man rubbed the grogginess from his eyes and took a good look at the group, "Digidestined?"
They blinked, "Gennai?!" The group exclaimed, taken back by the sudden youth of their guide here.
Gennai blinked and looked down at himself. "Oh, right," He chuckled. "My condition just keeps improvised every day," He explained scratching the back of his head. "Now, to what I own this... late-night visit?"
"We need to talk," Killua said briskly as he walked past the man and entered the house without interruption.
The Digidestined entered as well, showing the man apologetic looks at the rude entering of their leader.
Kari walked upstairs momentarily to enter one of the guest rooms and put Agumon down to bed before rejoining with the others.
Gennai closed the door and looked at them with a raised eyebrow, "alright then, what is it?" He asked, moving towards the living room.
Killua leaned on a wall, while the others sat down on the couches of the living room. The Hunter had his brows furrowed in thought; he opened his mouth to speak before closing it and looking at his friends. "I dragged you all here, the least I can do is giving you the benefit of asking first," he said, closing his eyes and sighing.
Gennai looked at the boy before his eyes widened. "Oh right, before you start!" He said, sitting up and walking towards an adjacent room. It didn't take long for him to come back with a rectangular object in his hands. "Anomaly, this is for you."
Killua raised an eyebrow and took the object. His eyes couldn't hide the surprise. "This is..."
On Killua's hands was a D-Terminal, exactly like the ones the Digidestined had. "Izzy gave me the data he obtained when analyzing them at the beginning of the year, and I was able to make one since I know you lacked one," Gennai explained. "The only thing unable to do is store any other Digi-eggs."
"Not that there's another one." Killua flipped it open and saw that the only option available was the communication one. Useful, considering the troubles he had today. 'If only I had this while getting my ass handed to me...' He thought dryly. "Thanks."
Gennai nodded at the boy and sat down on his chair. "That'd be all then, you might begin."
Davis shrugged. "If you say so..." He said, staring at the Digital Man with seriousness. "Listen, the hag and the mummy are on the move and have new toys with them."
"They called him BlackMetalGarurumon, a Control Tower Digimon like BlackWargreymon," Patamon explained. "And it is another Mega."
Gennai's eyes widened, and Killua's did so as well, though he kept his gaze down. "I see..." The man said. "Those are worrying news."
"That's not all," T.K said. "They were attacking a temple of sorts, on a swamp on the north. They... Managed to destroyed it, and when that happened a black cloud covered the sky."
Gennai sat up in alarm and stared at them with wide eyes. "T-Tell me... Was there a statue of a Digimon on that temple? Like... like a giant turtle?"
The group exchanged looks, before Cody finally nodded. "Y-yes, there was... it was on the middle of that vortex that came out of the temple when it was destroyed and it crumbled in it."
Gennai paled and sat down again. "This... This is worse than I could've imagined..."
"What are those temples?" Patamon asked. "They radiated a nice energy before they were destroyed..."
Gennai didn't answered immediately, his fingers linked between each other and his face leaning on them in a thinking pose before taking a deep breath to calm his nerves. "I'd prefer if everyone was here, but we can't afford to lose time so I trust you to relay the information on the rest of you."
He straightened himself and looked at the group with a serious look. "Long ago, during the era of the first Digidestined, their partners evolved into higher beings that sealed the Dark Masters with the help of the Anomaly of that time. With their task done, and the Digital World slowly restoring itself, they settled in different locations to guard the Digital World. The temple you encountered is one of those places."
His expression grew sombre as he looked down. "When the Dark Masters suddenly returned, they attacked them by surprise and sealed them away with the powers of darkness to prevent them from interfering. Once they were defeated five years ago, the damage they've done was supposed to be reversed, including the sealing of those Digimon—The Harmonious Ones. But the appearances of the Control Towers had made their return even harder."
"Wait, I don't get it," Davis said. "Why is destroying the temples bad? If they were sealed there, then won't breaking them like set them free?"
Gennai shook his head. "No. The temple was their place of rest, a door where they would be allowed to come out once they were free from the shadows. If they're destroyed then..."
"They won't have an exit..." T.K finished for the man. "Arukenimon and Mummymon are preventing them from escaping their seal."
"And for that they needed a Mega. That's why they created BlackMetalGarurumon," Cody reasoned.
"Not only they won't return, but it could upset the balance between the worlds," Gennai said, clenching his fists. "It might repeat what happened five years ago."
Kari frowned. "So that's why..." She mumbled. "Then that's just another reason to prevent them from destroying those places."
Everyone nodded. Fulled with a new resolve to stop their enemies from attacking those locations, if the Harmonious Ones were to resurface then they would help them restore the peace on the Digital World again, and prevent the balance of both worlds from being disturbed again.
Killua was the only not to nod. He almost wanted to laugh at how he missed all of this, while being busy talking with BlackWargreymon and then fighting against Blademon. Now they seem to have a new mission and a way to tracking the movements of Arukenimon.
"Alright, glad to have some answers," Killua said, pushing himself of the wall. "Now for some more..."
He walked to stand in front of Gennai and gave him a serious look. "Are you working on my way back home?" He asked out of the blue.
Gennai blinked, before smiling reassuringly. "I am. Knowing the correct pattern of the cards, is pretty easy to do it. It's just a matter of somehow connecting both worlds."
Killua gave him a leveled look before nodding. "Okay, I believe you... Now I know how you look when you're honest. Second question... Am I the partner of the missing Digimon?"
Gennai didn't even bothered hiding it now. His eyes widened in surprise yes, but once that happened he realized he didn't have a point in keeping it a secret. "Yes... You are."
Killua shouldn't be surprised. The man had kept secrets before, the Crests, their reason to be called to the Digital World, the very existence of the Dark Masters and Apocalymon during their first journey, or that the door between worlds would close at the end.
Yet the anger that coursed through him wasn't a surprise either. He gnashed his teeth and grabbed the man by the scruff of his robe. "Then why didn't you say anything damn it!"
Everyone behind him tensed at the sudden action, "Killua!" He heard Kari call in surprise.
Gennai met his glare calmly. "I didn't want to give you false hope. We don't know what happened to that baby, if they took him to the real world and killed him then his data-"
"I know what would've happened if that was the case!" Killua said. "But guess what! He's alive! Alive and working for the enemy, as the freaking Reaper!"
The man's eyes widened in surprise, "your partner is the Reaper?"
Killua however ignored the man's reaction, instead gripping his shirt tighter. "I know that you couldn't have known that. What pisses me off, is that you still withhold information from us, from me! False hope or not, didn't I had the right to know I had a partner, that it was my Digivice that was stolen that night, that I'm a Digidestined?!" His tone grew higher and higher with every question until finishing his sentence with a shout.
Gennai's gaze lowered, not meeting the boy's eyed as he continues to glare at him. The tension on the room, and the animosity Killua was expelling could be cut only by a great sword at this point.
The boy felt a hand on his shoulder and he turned to glare at however was interrupting. Davis matched his glare, even if he was sweating at the intensity of it he didn't back out. "Dude... That's enough."
Those words suddenly clicked with Killua. His eyes widening briefly.
He let go of Gennai, who didn't even grunted at the sudden fall, and just stood there silently before stuffing his hands on his pockets and walking away.
"Wait!" Kari called. "Where are you going?"
The Hunter didn't stopped as he answered. "I need air, I'll mail you later."
He closed the door behind him and left the room behind with a tense silence in it.
Gennai sat up and diverted his gaze from the kids. "I'm sorry for this commotion."
"Damn straight you should be," Davis muttered, turning to scowl at the man. "What you did wasn't right!"
T.K looked at the man in disappointment. "I understand why you did it, but Killua was right; he had the right to know."
Gennai nodded calmly and start rummage through his pants. "I know that. I just wished to spare him from pain, if his partner turned to be..." He didn't finish the sentence.
'If you had told him then the situation with Blademon would have been different,' Kari thought with a frown, deciding not to say out loud to not aggravate the situation even more.
"Here," Their attention was pulled by Gennai who had produced an item from his pocket, something quite familiar for the Digidestined. "This belongs to him."
It was a Crest, of a thunder-blue color. With the symbol of two lightning bolts crossing each other.
Kari looked at it, "his Crest?" Kari asked as she stepped forward to take it.
"Yes," Gennai nodded as he placed the item on her hand. "It was on his partner's crib, after they were taken. I ran analysis on it, and came to the conclusion that it was made by the data gathered from those bracelets five years ago."
Kari and T.K nodded in understanding, while Davis and Cody looked confused. "It represents Loyalty," The man revealed.
Kari looked at the Crest on her hand and couldn't help but smile. Loyalty, that just seemed to be the right word to define him. "I'll give it to him... if we find him."
"Should be easy now that he has his own terminal," Gatomon said.
Kari made an unsure face at that. The fact that he had a Terminal didn't mean he was going to answer it. With how upset he looked, she doubts he's willing to talk with them right now. Not that she could really blame him; if she feels overwhelmed by this whole revelation then she can't imagine how he must be feeling right now.
Davis let out a groan and crouched while scratching his head. "This is all messed up. New enemies keep popping, Killua is off to God knows where, and Cody and I still don't know how to make out stupid Crests glow!"
Gennai sighed. "I'm sorry for all of this. I know I might never make up for covering it up."
Cody frowned. "What you did wasn't right... But you didn't have ill intentions in doing it."
"You didn't know the baby was the Reaper, none of us could. Don't beat yourself up so badly," Armadillomon said winking an eye.
Despite his words the Digital Man still felt regret and shame over keeping the secret. "My only way to atone is to stick to my word and continue to modify the gate to send him home, once this threat is dealt with..."
"Gennai, can you at least tell us where these temples are?" T.K asked. "At least that way we'll be a step ahead from those two and their pet..."
"It acted like a dog, didn't it?" Patamon muttered, resting on T.K's hat.
"They are distributed on the four cardinal points," The man informed them. "You've already found the one to the north, which means you still have three chances to stop them."
"Three chances..." Kari muttered, looking down at the Crest on her hand. 'We could barely do anything to stop BlackWargreymon and BlackMetalGarurumon from destroying the temple, if they continue to fight like that on each temple then...' She shook her head. 'No, we can do something. We had Arukenimon and Mummymon against the ropes before they appeared, maybe we can do something with that.'
She took a deep breath to calm her nerves. "We'll give our best," She said.
Behind her, the boys nodded. Despite what Gennai mighty have kept from them, that didn't changed what they had to do.
"Okay then," Gennai walked to the room where he got Killua's Terminal and retrieved a computer. "If you want to return to your world already then you can use this."
"Great. I just want today to end," Davis said, "Even if it's already past midnight."
"There'll be a lot to discuss tomorrow," Cody sighed, taking out his Digivice.
"Understatement," T.K agrees with him.
With a flash of light they were all gone to their homes.
Tai pushed his chair back as the screen of his computer came to life and his sister and her partner came out of it. "Hey, what happened? How are Agumon and Killua?" He asked, sitting up.
Kari looked up at her brother with tired eyes. She clenched her fist holding the Crest of her leader, before releasing a sigh. "It's... I..."
Gatomon stepped forward. "They are both safe, and out of immediate danger, Agumon is on Gennai's house but... There's a lot we have to discuss."
Tai raised an eyebrow at the two of them. They mentioned Agumon, of whom he was relieved to hear was safe, but not Killua. He wanted to ask for more answers, but taking a look at his sister told him that right now might not be the time. Whatever happened there seemed to have drained from whatever energy she had from an already stressful day.
"Okay," He responded. "Whatever it is can wait until tomorrow I suppose. You should go back to bed and take back some sleep before mom and dad notice our lights on."
Kari nodded distractedly at him, her eyes widened when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her and engulfing her into a hug. "Um?"
Tai chuckled as he rubbed her back soothingly. "It seemed like you needed one." He said as he stepped back.
Kari giggled a bit. "Thank you," she said.
"Okay," Tai said, stepping back. "Go and get rest, I want all the details tomorrow."
"Sure," She nodded. "Good night."
She entered back into her room and collapsed on her bed, Gatomon hopping next to her and curling to her side.
Kari opened her fist to see the blue Crest resting on her palm. His Crest, the Crest of Loyalty. She sighed and turned on her back to stare at the ceiling, her turns once again turning into worry with just... everything that happened on the day. As if their new enemy wasn't enough now the whole issue with Killua.
She deflated even more when she realized that she was back as to how she was hours ago; on bed, worrying about her leader's state. 'That idiot... Making us worry...'
"Are you okay?" Gatomon asked, climbing on her torso.
She smiled at her partner and strokes her head. "Yeah, just... Thinking..."
"Yeah, I get you," Gatomon said softly. "But if you're worried about him, now you can just tell him to go back," she said, gesturing to her nightstand.
Oh, right. The Terminal. She grabbed the small computer and looked at her contact list. Her eyes landed on a new icon, though this one had the image of a silhouette with a question mark.
She pressed it and typed. "Killua, is it you?" She pressed the send button.
A few moments passed before a reply appeared. "Yo."
Her lips pressed themselves on a tin line. 'Yep, it's him,' She thought. "Are you okay?"
"sure."
That didn't sound convincing. He responded too fast, too.
"Do you want to come back?" She asked.
This time he took his time answering. The two anxiously waited for a response for almost five minutes before he sent his reply.
"sure. i'm near a tv." It read.
"You think he's... fine?" Gatomon asked as she looked at the computer of the room.
Kari sighed. "Only one way to find out..."
She booted her computer on and put her Digivice in front of the screen. The port program appeared a second later. "Digiport Open."
There was a flash of light and they disappeared from the room.
Yet it didn't take them long to return, this time with their white haired leader in tow. He didn't spoke to them when they looked for him, aside from saying 'let's go' to come back here.
"Thanks for the ride," He said, stuffing his hands on his pockets. "I should go to Tai's room now."
"Wait," Kari said, stopping him on his track. "This is for you."
He turned around and Kari handed him the blue Crest. "Gennai said it was on your partner's crib... It's the Crest of Loyalty."
Killua looked down at the thunder blue item on his hand with contempt before scoffing. "Not much use for it now, huh," he said, turning around to leave.
The two partners of light exchanged worried glances. A silent conversation going between the two, before Gatomon nodded. She jogged past Killua and blocked his path to the door. "Hang on a second," Gatomon said.
The boy raised an eyebrow at her. "What is it now?"
"Can we talk?" Kari spoke, causing Killua to turn to look at her.
"About?" He questioned, hands on his pocket.
"Everything," She said. "About what happened to you and Blademon, and how you're doing."
Killua didn't respond for a moment. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Look, can this wait for tomorrow? I'm fine, just tired, it's late and you have school tomorrow."
"You're not fine," Gatomon said from the door. "Heck, we are still shocked about it, there's no way you're just fine after it."
"Well I am!" He snapped, turning his gaze at her. "It's not like there's anything I can do about it," he huffed through his nose. "He's off to... somewhere and we already have enough in our plate to go looking for him."
He walked forward ready to shove Gatomon away if needed to just go to sleep and leave this day behind him. However, someone else prevent him from leaving.
"Let go, Kari," he said as she grabbed his arm to prevent him from leaving.
"Killua, please," she said, tightening the grip on his arm. "This is clearly bothering you; it wouldn't make sense if it didn't."
"What is there to talk about?" He asked, turning around and freeing his arm from her grip. "My partner tried to kill me at every time he got, while Gennai hid the fact that I had a partner to begin with!"
He walked past her as he continued speaking. "I'm not even sure if he was my partner or not! He could have been spitting a bunch of bullshit to throw me off guard, but... the look on his eyes was just so... real, so confused. It was like me not knowing of him broke his whole world down!" He then started muttering under his breath. "Kinda like Ken when we beat him…"
He sat down on bed, while the partners of light observed him, "and if he is my partner them what now? He just glitched out of existence to god knows where!"
"The ocean..." Gatomon muttered. "He might be at that ocean..."
Killua snorted humorlessly. "Well isn't that just great? He is on that ocean off all places. Then what can I do? We barely know what that place is, and I think none of wants to go back any time soon!" He ranted.
Kari just observed him with sympathy on her eyes. This... this was the first time he has seen him so vulnerable. He always kept himself calm, collected, even in the direst of situations. Here she could see he was lost, confused, angry, and sad. In the end, he was still only a year older than her now and she couldn't even begin to think how she would handle something like this.
She looked down at Gatomon, hoping for an answer. Her partner looked back at her and slowly shook her head. She frowned, there was nothing they could do right now aside from… letting him vent out all of this emotions out.
"... I don't know what to do, what to think," he muttered. "A part of me doesn't want to believe he is my partner, after all he did to us. And yet..." he opened the hand with his Crest and observed it. "Yet another, larger part believes it because everything points to him being the baby, and that baby is, or was my partner. And if he is my partner then he is stuck on that place, what can I even do about that? So w-what should I do? Try to find him, leave him?" He looked at the Crest on his hand and curled his fingers around it. "What good is this thing when I don't even have the means to use it, or in who to use it?!" He growled out.
A palm rested at the top of his fist and he looked up to see Kari looking at him with sadness and empathy. "I'm sorry I can give you the answers," She said. "But that doesn't mean they're not out there. Arukenimon and Mummymon know the truth, the next time we see them we'll make them tell us what they know."
Killua looked at her with downcast eyes and biting his lips, "then what?" He asked. "If they give them to me—when they give it to me —then what? How could I get him out of that place?"
"Do you want to?" Gatomon asked from the side, "after all he did?"
Killua looked at her before nodding slowly. "If… if he is my partner and… something made him act this way, to made him believe I left him then maybe —just maybe—I can talk to him to see if we can start over… at least I hope he is willing to…"
Kari smiled softly at that. She might not have the highest opinion on Blademon, but the same could be same about Ken and now he was their ally and friend. She looked at Gatomon who nodded in understanding, seemingly thinking the same.
"But I won't be able to do that until knowing how I can get him out of there!" He said in frustration. "And to go back to that place…"
"It's fine."
His eye widened in surprise. "Eh?"
Kari gave him a soft smile. "I said its fine," she repeated. "After the last time, I'm ready for that place. For whatever it might try to do to me."
"But…" He tried to say.
She placed her hands on his shoulders and her smile became wider. "If you really want to do this, then I will back you up. And I'm sure the others will too."
Killua looked down with uncertainty. He wanted to find Blademon to clear things up, to try and learn if they could be partners. That gift he talked about, both Ken and him possessed them and after using them their demeanors, or personality in Ken's case changed completely, that meant that something else could have make them act the way they did. Or at least he thinks so.
But was it okay to put her, all of them, on the line by going back to that place, without being certain that things might go right? They could go there and not achieve anything if he doesn't want to be partners, he could still treat them like enemies instead, and then they would have to worry about the creatures of that place and Blademon. He wanted to but… But he wasn't sure if he could go through it.
Kari looked at the conflicted face on his face with empathy, the decision on what to do about Blademon clearly being a heavy weight for him at the moment. There wasn't a clear answer for them yet, but she wanted to try and make him feel better, to lessen that burden.
Killua's eyes widened when a pair of arms wrapped around his neck and a body pressed itself against him. "Uh?" he muttered.
Kari smiled as she tightened the hold a bit. "It seemed like you needed one," she explained.
Killua blinked a bit before relaxing on her hold and wrapping his arms around her torso as well, burying his face on her shoulder, 'feels warm.' This doesn't make all of his preoccupations go away, but it does make him feel better. The warm behind the hug makes him feel more at ease at the moment.
Gatomon blinked before a small grin formed in her face. She cautiously moved towards her bed, deciding that this moment was just for the two of them alone.
A few minutes passed and eventually they pulled apart. Killua lets out a sigh. "I… I still have a lot in my head, but… I think we can discuss it tomorrow, with the others."
"At least we know what to do for now," Kari said. "Defend the temples and get answers from those two. Whatever happens next, you decide, and we'll be there for it," she reassured.
Killua didn't want to say that it was exactly that which has him conflicted, but couldn't help feeling grateful at her words. 'I'll cross that bridge when we get there,' he thought. "I should go to Tai's room and get some sleep, tomorrow is going to be a bit busy…" he said, sitting up.
"Telling everyone about what we've learned… yeah I can see that," Kari nodded.
Killua stopped by the doorframe and turned to her. "Hey um…" he started. "You had to use your other ability in me before, right?" He asked, "To heal me."
"Yes," She nodded. "It was a dire situation, like you said."
"I know, I know," He said, running a hand through his hair. "Sorry I had to come to that but, I'm glad your technique works as you wanted it to."
She beamed at the praised, but also caught the second meaning under his words. Just a couple of words he didn't say to those close to them. "I'm glad too," she smiled. "You're welcome then."
He snorted and left the room, closing the door behind him.
As he stepped on the corridor he took a deep breath and leaned his back against the door. Things were still messed up, but at least he had a goal to clear it up now. And he could tell that Gennai was really working on a way for him to go back home, so hey at least some good news.
He pushed himself of the door and looked back, smiling as he thought back to the conversation with Kari. She could have let him mop in peace but insisted on getting him to talk his feelings out, which helped a bit, heck this isn't even the first time either, back when he was nervous of facing… him while preparing to assault Ken's base she had gave him encouragement. The hug helped too, even if he wasn't one used to them with his sisters being the exception.
Just the way she pressed against him and he felt so… calm and comfortable and warm…And seeing her smile was nice too.
He blinked as he felt something fluttering on his chest and heat rising on his cheeks. 'What the heck? What am I thinking?' He thought.
He sounded like Davis thinking like that! What the hell?! He wasn't feeling that way for her!
… Was he?
He shook his head again, 'can't deal with this right now, too much happening and it's probably just hormones…' The fact that he said 'probably' didn't put him at ease.
He walked to Tai's room, hoping that a good four hours of sleep will help him settle down.
With everything that happened on this long, loooooong, day, she wanted to think that what just happened was a small victory.
She lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, feeling more at ease than she's been all night. Now things might be… complicated, but they now they have a clear goal on what to do about their enemies and their goals, even if it continues to leave the question on why they're doing it.
As for all that's happened to Killua, she hoped her words were enough for now. And the hug as well, she had to take a page from her brother to think up of that in the spot. There was still the issue of clearing up if Blademon is his partner, but regardless of if he is or not, Killua's partner is still MIA.
She turned to rest on her side and sighed. The prospect of going to that ocean if Killua wanted to find him, she wouldn't lie and say it didn't make her feel nervous, or even scared, even if she's now determined to not let its influence affect her as much as before.
'Will it be okay? To go through that with him is he asks us to?' Or to just say no and go back on everything she just said.
Okay, maybe some things were still hard to clear out. The only thing clear about it is that she wants to help him go through this, especially after seeing how it affected him.
She wanted to help him, because… Because…
Realization struck her like a lightning.
'Oh…' Was the only thought she got, as her cheeks got painted pink.
Sleep might come in harder than she thought
As these various events occurred on the worlds filled with light, on the place full of dark water a lonely figure trekked aimlessly.
Creatures made of muddy material appeared in front of him, accusing him of being an invader, they all fell with a mere cleave of his sword.
Blademon's feet make the sand crunch with every step, his sword being dragged at his side and leaving a trail behind him. He didn't know what this place was, and honestly he didn't care in the slightest. His mind was swirling and his body ready to collapse.
He didn't know what the creatures were either; they weren't Digimon, even if some of them shape-shifted to take on the appearances of certain Digimon, most of them Virus-types. All he knew was that after a while and after seeing the difference of power between them and him they stopped attacking altogether.
He finally found a cave, damp and colorless as everything else in this world. He sat down and stabbed his sword on the floor. His eyes felt heavy and his whole body was shaking, barely maintaining his Ultimate form. 'Can't… fell… sleep, too… many… hostiles…'
Despite this, he knows he can't keep up like this, he knows that his body has to rest, especially after what happened, especially after his fight with… with Killua.
He gripped his head as a pounding headache started smashing his skull, the memories of what he thought was truth and what is the truth. His teeth clenched and tears prickled at the edges of his eyes. 'Damn it! Damn it!'
Splashing sounds could be heard from deep in the cave. He turned his head to see more of those creatures with red eyes rising and merging together to form a mass that took the form of a Digimon.
"You disgusting things don't learn!" Fighting back the pounding headache and fatigue Blademon stood up, his sword swirling with energy, "Tiger's Hunt!
As the Digimon stranded on this world fought against the inhabitants wishing to get rid of this menace, the waves continued to crash against the shores. And another figure, a guest woke up on this grey world.
His shoes made the sand crunch and his golden eyes with drawings below them scanned the area with curiosity and even excitement even. "Well, well… Where am I exactly ~?" He asked to no one in particular.
A/N: *Inhales* *exhales* THIS FUCKING CHAP-
Okay, tuning it down. But seriously, this was hard to writeeeeeeeeee!
I had the idea of where I wanted it to go, but the dialogues just didn't come up! Was it writer's block or something I don't know!
Kari's part at the end was the hardest! To show her gratitude without disregarding what she did this chapter by saving his life and having that talk with him!
*sigh*
Hope I get reviews from this. A Fallen Knight didn't get many reviews either after last chapter.
For our heroes shit's about to go even further south, they're going to hit Digital Mexico!
FAVXREVIEW!
