Maki observed the man with suspicion, why did Hisoka let him in she didn't know, but they will have words later. Speaking of whom, he was casually sitting at her side with his hands resting behind the back of the couch, eyeing the man with suspicion.
"I'm really sorry for the intrusion," Oikawa said as he leaned forward with his hands cupped, a smile plastered on his face. "But I think this reunion had to occur sooner rather than later."
Hisoka eyed him with a neutral look while Maki crossed her arms and glared at him. "And why would that be?"
"For a factor that I think we all had in common," He said, "The Digital World."
Her eyes widened and then narrowed, while Hisoka's stayed the same, not showing the slightest reaction to the man's words. What could be going through his mind at this moment was a complete mystery to her right now.
"See… I've been monitoring the activities on that world, since my goal is to one day to visit it myself," He said wistfully. "And imagine my surprise when yesterday I detected an abnormal signal that came from the western side of the Digital World, a ripple on the space of that world… an anomaly."
Maki again tensed, not knowing how this man knew so much. Her branch in the government has done its best to keep tabs on any activities that could be related to incidents like the one five years ago, and she knew of course that those were involved with the Digital World, so how did this man knew so much.
"So I pinpoint the place of that anomaly and observe an interesting spectacle," The man continues. "A fight between you and the group of the Digidestined, and then you vanish and the readings of your signal come over to this world. I was only a matter of tracking down the signal, which wasn't exactly an easy feat and finally coming here to meet you. Although, I am surprise to see you with company…" He said as he looked at Maki.
The woman scowled back at him, while Hisoka tilted his head while his expression remained unchanged. "Should I be flattered by all the troubles you went through to meet me?"
Oikawa chuckled and shook his head. "If like to think of it that way then be my guest," He said. "But I believe I should say what my business is by coming here."
"Please do," Maki said with glare, not appreciating how this man had basically intruded into her home.
Oikawa gave her a side eyed glance, barely acknowledging her presence there; which only makes Maki glare harder at him. "From what I could gather from your encounter with the Digidestined, you are not one of their allies in fact you seem to be against them."
"Nothing personal," Hisoka shrugged. "There's just someone of interest amongst them… Well more than one if I'm being honest."
"Quite," The man said with a nod. "May I propose an alliance with you then?"
Hisoka quirked an eyebrow, "And what exactly could you offer me?"
"Name your terms, I'm willing to bargain," Oikawa said calmly.
Maki turned to the magician next to her. "Hisoka, are you sure we can trust on what this guy says?"
Oikawa narrowed his eyes at her. "Woman, you better stay out of this. It doesn't concern you."
At that moment, Maki felt a pressure coming from the man that forced her to shrink back into her couch. Hisoka for his part put a hand on her shoulder and gave the man a leveled glare. "Maki here is a friend of mine, who kindly gave me asylum for the previous night. I appreciate her input in this issue."
The man turned to Hisoka with a raise eyebrow; the two of them met the others' glare without flinching back, until Oikawa closed his eyes and exhaled, "My apologies then."
"Good. As for conditions, well, my only purpose right now is to go back to my world," Hisoka said, counting with his fingers. "For that I have two options, to be sent there by a portal like the ones the Digidestined possess, or to fulfill my contractor's wish."
"Which is?" Oikawa asked.
"To capture the Child of Light, Kari Kamiya," Hisoka said, lowering his hand. "According to him if I do that then he will sent me back."
Oikawa raised an eyebrow. "Will that be it?"
"Yes," Hisoka answered.
Oikawa mulled it over, while Hisoka and Maki waited. He sat up and stuffed his hands on his pockets. "The way I see it, it might be a harder task than you might think. The Digidestined will protect their comrade at all cost, and they are not the only ones, there's another set of Digidestined slightly older than the ones you faced that have a card up on their sleeve: The access to the Mega level."
Hisoka smirked at that. "You don't say."
"Yes. If you're willing, then we can discuss this at my own place so I don't intrude anymore here," He said, eyeing Maki who sweated nervously under his gaze after that strange pressure affected her. "So? Will you follow?"
The two exchanged looks and Hisoka looked back at him. "Mind giving us a minute?"
Oikawa narrowed his eyes, but relented, walking out of the apartment without a word.
Maki looked at Hisoka nervously. "So you are going through with this then?"
"There's nothing for me to lose in this honestly," He said. "One way or the other when I get the girl I go back home."
Maki scoffed. "To think years ago you were the 'protector of the Digidestined' and now you have to capture one," She crossed her arms and sighed. "I want in on this."
"Hoh?"
"If that guy can give you a port like the one you say this kids have, then I want to use it. That is if he can give you what you ask," She explained.
Hisoka quirked an eyebrow at her, "You do realize we'll be facing those kids if we join them, treating them as the enemy," He crossed his arms. "Is that okay with you?"
Maki frowned, looking away with a conflicted look on her eyes. "I get that… But… This is a chance I can't miss… It might be a chance to finding a way in getting my partner back."
"Tapirmon?" Hisoka mumbled with a quirked eyebrow.
"Between whoever your contractor is and the possibility to go to the Digital World again the possibility can't be that crazy…" Maki said gripping her fists. "I'll correct that mistake from over ten years ago!"
Hisoka smirked with mirth in his eyes at her proclamation and nodded slowly. "Very well," He said, moving towards the door.
"Wait," She said, as she walked to her room. "There's something I have to look for, might come in handy…"
By the time they came out, Oikawa was waiting for the two, hands on the pockets of his purple coat and a patient smirk on his face that only broadened when he saw them. "Have you come to a decision then?"
The two of them nodded and Oikawa's smile broadened even further, and for a moment a flash of blue covered his black eyes, and in his mind laughter echoed on his mind that was quite different to his own.
They couldn't have moved faster the moment the bell rang; basically bolting out of their classrooms to head to the computer lab for what could possibly be their most important mission. On one part of the school T.K, Kari and Davis ran down the hallway to reach the room, and Yolei dashed down the stairs of the floor where she saw her classes.
With Killua already there, they booted the computer and waited for their remaining teammates to show up.
The computer beeped not too long after they arrived with an incoming E-Mail. Yolei leaned forward and read it. "It's a message from Ken. He says he's going to be late so we should go ahead."
Kari frowned and looked at the door. "Cody's late too…"
"What the heck is he doing?!" Davis asked, growing anxious at the prospect of waiting.
"He'll be here soon," T.K reassured with a nervous smile.
Killua looked up at the ceiling with a bored look. "He better…"
The door was slammed open and an apologetic Cody appeared. "I'm so sorry, guys!"
"Cody, you're late!" Upamon whined as he jumped up and down.
"What he said!" Davis said, running up to the kid, "Why did you took so long to arrive?!"
"I-It was my turn to clean up the classroom," He said, scratching the back of his head, knowing just how tame that was compared to their current task.
"Cleaning or the Digital World kiddo, which is more important!" Davis growled out, exasperated by the waiting and the kid's reason.
"That's not important right now!" T.K said with a deadpan.
"We're all here, so cut it," Killua said, holding the raging boy back.
"Exactly," Kari turned to Yolei. "We're ready!"
"Alrighty then!" Yolei sat up and pointed her Digivice to the computer, unlocking the port. She pointed her finger to the screen as she exclaimed her motto, "Let's goooo, Digidestined!"
"Oh lord now she's making poses…" Killua said as he face-palmed.
"Terra Destroyer!"
"AWROOOOO!"
Over the sea, near some docks, the two artificial Megas clashed once again. The dragon and the wolf not stopping for even a moment on their eternal battle against each other. The miniature sun from BlackWargreymon clashing against the cyan blast that came out from BlackMetalGarurumon's mouth.
Arukenimon from the docks watched everything from the car with a frustrated expression, "We are so close to the last temple, why did this brat have to get in the way!"
It was their last mission, their final part on their master's plan, and this unruly child is once again hindering their mission. She didn't know what caused her more headaches by this point, if him or the Digidestined.
If only Mummymon was there to give her massages to relieve stress…
She shook her head and focused back on the fight, BlackMetalGarurumon tried to use his missile from his belly to blind his opponent, but the dragon was used to it by this point, he used his shield to protect himself from the flash and charged forward to ram his shield against the snout of the wolf.
Arukenimon gripped the wheel with anger, "We can't lose time here… But I can't let those two destroy each other; they are part of the plan…"
Her musings were interrupted when something crashed next to her, and her blood froze when she saw the hulking figure of BlackWargreymon rising next to her. He gave her a side-eyed glance and his yellow eyes narrowed in anger as he fully turned to face her, "You!"
She flinched and took a step back as the dragon raised his gauntlets to attack her. She was saved when BlackMetalGarurumon charged against him and pushed him to a warehouse, just for it to explode seconds later; when the smoke cleared she saw the wolf biting on his opponent's shoulder while the dragon tried to push him off.
From what she could see they were at a complete standstill, none budging an inch at their opponents' attempts on the other's life. She bit her thumb as she mulled over the situation.
"They're completely equal, just as planned from the start. Two sides of the same coin," She mused. "They're either unable to kill each other, or the complete opposite capable of each other's destruction."
They broke from the other's grip and jumped back into the sky, were they clashed against the other, being nothing but blurs for her by this point.
"I need to locate the temple before those kids show up," She decided. "And I can't stay here any longer unless I want to be blown to pieces!"
"RAAAAGH!"
She looked up and gasped when she saw BlackWargreymon break a crane apart and use it as a bat against the wolf, which could only use his jaws to catch it to avoid damage.
"Hang in there BlackMetalGarurumon, I'll be back!" She said speeding off the scene.
She moved away from the scene, with BlackWargreymon thankfully focused on his opponent to notice her getting away. She looked at the radar installed on the car to continue on looking for the location of the temple, according to the images shown by her master it was at the top of a shrine of sorts. If she finds it, she could lure the fight between those two to where it was and their squabble will destroy it, finally putting an end to their task.
She moved far away until she couldn't hear their clash anymore. She stopped the car and gave a sigh of relief. "Well, I should be safe here."
BOOOOONG!
She jumped at the sudden noise and looked to her side to see where exactly she parked, a town with Chinese thematic, where now a soft music rang through the air.
"Didn't notice a town so far out here…" She mumbled crossing her arms.
Her nose twitched when a soft smell entered it, it was coming from one of the buildings on this town. She drove into the little settlement and parked in front of the building where the smell was coming from, a restaurant by the looks of it.
"Pork ramen," She looked down to see a Tapirmon with a hat at the entrance.
She blinked.
"Wonton ramen," The Tapirmon said with a bow.
She blinked again and her stomach growled. The stress of the situation getting to her, "Well I can't keep looking with an empty stomach…" She said, entering the restaurant.
The group walked on the outskirts of a Chinese looking town; all checking their terminals both the coordinates of the temple and the signal the artificial Megas were giving off.
"They're too close to comfort," Killua muttered as he observed his terminal.
"Yeah, hope Ichijouji doesn't cross them in the way here," Davis muttered worriedly as he closed his terminal.
"He's with Wormmon, or even better JewelBeemon, he should be fine!" V-Mon said cheerfully.
"Yeah," Davis nodded, smiling down at his partner. "You're right!"
"Here Kari," Yolei for her part handed Kari a bottle of water, "Something to keep fresh."
"Thank you," Kari said as she took the water. "This brand has a good taste."
Killua raised an eyebrow. "Just for her, what about the rest of us?"
"Well, my dear Killua, if you want some you can always bought it at our store!" She said eccentrically and with a smirk.
"Huh?!"
"It contains minerals and its good for the body; it will certainly help on your nights of training!" Hawkmon joined, the two clearly doing this for promotion.
"So if you want some, stop by Odaiba Ai-Mart, please!" She said leaning forward with a mischievous smirk.
"What about you are just a good friend and bring some for everyone and not just promotion?!" Killua asked with a tense smile as she leaned forward.
"Being a good friend doesn't bring income dear."
"Drop the 'dear' thing already!" Killua growled out.
"Please do…" Kari muttered, as she felt uncomfortable at Yolei calling Killua that.
"Well you can't deny they have the spirit of a good salesman," Gatomon said as she watched the exchange with amusement.
Despite the glaring conquest, everyone eventually developed into a round of laughter at their own absurdity.
Cody watched the attitude of his teammates with a small smile. "Everyone has their spirit high despite the stakes…" He muttered.
T.K placed a hand on his shoulders. "It's better that way. We know the stakes, so there's no need to get worked up about them."
Cody gave a nod before frowning. "But I still feel nervous, Davis and I haven't reached the Ultimate level yet and our track record isn't good when facing BlackMetalGarurumon and BlackWargreymon."
"You'll get there," T.K smiled. "Look, Armadillomon is already trying really hard," He said, pointing back.
"Up!" Patamon said from Armadillomon back.
"Up I go!" Armadillomon said as he did a push up.
"Down!" Patamon ordered again, sounding like a drill soldier despite his squeaky voice.
"Down I go!" Armadillomon complied, not even sweating despite the added weight.
The sight brought a chuckle out of Cody, helping on easing his nerves about this mission a bit.
Kari's nose twitched a bit and she started to sniff the air, which didn't go unnoticed by her friends; Killua quirked an eyebrow at her, "What is it?"
"Something smells really tasty," She said as she looked towards the town.
Yolei took a good sniff and the air and her eyes widened and her mouth watered. "Waah, it's true. It smells like a delicious Chinese soup!"
Two grumbles caught their attention and they all turned to see Davis and V-Mon blushing as they held their stomachs. "Hehe… Guess that opened our appetite."
"Well since this looks like the Digital World's Chinatown I say we go and get something to eat!" T.K proposed with eagerness.
Cody for his part looked over to him in shock. "But T.K-" His protests were cut off short by another growl.
Everyone shifted their attention to Killua, who kept a normal face despite the slight blush of embarrassment on his face. "You know what? That's a solid idea, let's go."
"You heard our leader, it's settled then!" Davis cheered and ran head first into the town along with V-Mon.
The rest of the group soon followed him, with Cody lagging behind. Armadillomon stopped and looked over at his partner with a questioning frown. "Cody?"
The boy had an angry expression on his face and his fist clenched at his side. "They're thinking about Chinese food when BlackWargreymon and BlackMetalGarurumon are still running rampant! This is our last chance to protect the temples and they're not taking it seriously. It… It honestly makes me angry!" He told him as his shook his arms in anger.
"B-But Cody…" The boy looked at his partner, who had his paws over his belly. "I'm starving too…"
Cody's gaze softened and he looked down. "…Maybe I'm being too rigid about this…" He fished his Crest out of his pocket and looked down at it. "Maybe that's why my Crest hasn't glowed yet…"
He gave a sigh and walked forward, deciding to keep his thoughts to himself for now and just indulge on his friend's desires.
Arukenimon slurped down the noodles and drank down the soup of her second bowl. She sat put it down and licked her lips in delight. "That hit the spot, the soup was absolutely delightful. She said with a grin."
"Cantonese ramen," The Tapirmon waiter said as he hovered back to her table.
"Say, what are the ingredients for this thing?" She asked, she wanted to be able to have this for a celebration once the last temple, and luckily the Digidestined, were finally destroyed.
"Tientsin Ramen," The Rookie replied in the same tone.
The spider-woman blinked. "I said the ingredients!"
"Spicy ramen!" The Tapirmon expressed with a joyful grin.
She slammed her hands down on the table and sat up with a furious expression. "I can't speak with you now, can I?!" She asked furiously. "Where's the manager!?"
Tapirmon blinked again, "Wanton Ramen?"
He went back into the kitchen and reappeared a few seconds later with the manager, a Digitamamon with a chef hat and an apron on him. "Yes, what can I do for you?"
"Finally, a coherent Digimon," She huffed as she sank her spoon on the bowl of soup. "Tell me, what is the ingredient of this magnificent soup?"
"I'm sorry to say that's a trade secret of this restaurant," The Digitamamon said with a non-nonsense tone.
"What did you say?!" She asked, sitting up and gritting her teeth. She's been having a stressful day and now this stupid Digimon wasn't going to tell her something so simple.
He took her enraged question literally and replied his answer sternly. "It's a trade secret!"
"Who do you think I am?!" She asked, having enough of this stupid resistance. She was going to get her answer before going out to hunt the last temple again.
Then, the doors of the establishment opened and a round of gasps were heard. Arukenimon wiped her head to the entrance and her blood ran cold when she saw the Digidestined standing there, and looking at her with wide eyes.
"Y-You damn brats!" She seethed through gritted teeth.
"Ya wicked wit—Hey wait a minute, Digitamamon is that you?" Davis asked, forgetting about Arukenimon for a moment. "You have a Chinese restaurant too?"
"I think you might be confusing me by my friend on the western side," The Digitamamon explained kindly. "He actually told me about you, Digidestined. Told me you had a bit of trouble with the currency of —"
"Enough with this already!" Killua snapped, getting into a fighting position and sharpening his claws.
"Smartest thing you've ever said in your life, Anomaly!" Arukenimon said with a grin, as he clothes exploded and her true form was revealed. "Sad thing it'll be the last!"
She cackled like mad, triumphantly at facing the Digidestined… When she noticed none of them looked intimidated in the slightest. Kari opened her mouth to speak. "Is BlackMetalGarurumon with you…?"
"Er… No?"
"Do you have a new partner in crime?" Yolei asked, raising an eyebrow, "A replacement for Mummymon?"
"N—No…" She stammered a sinking feeling on her stomach.
"Then… What exactly makes you think that you can take on all of us?" Killua asked, retreating his claws to cross his arms over his chest and letting his Ren explode around him, with the others following his example.
Gatomon's claws glistened and her Holy Ring shone brightly to bless her with more strength, while the Digidestined's Digivice all glowed.
"V-Mon Digivolves to… Exveemon!"
"Hawkmon Digivolves to… Aquilamon!"
"Armadillomon Digivolves to… Ankylomon!"
"Patamon Digivolves to… Angemon!"
With all the Champions in one place, and the Digidestined's Nen ready to be used, Arukenimon soon realized how outmatched she was. The two owners of the restaurant bolted out of the building throught the backdoor when they realized just what was about to go down.
With all of these factors she knew there was only one thing to do. "Corrosive Mist!" She said, desperately releasing a cloud of poisonous mist to keep the group at bay and then raised her hands and the gems of her hands glowed. "Spider thread!"
Instead of aiming her attack at the group, she latched it to some tables and threw them at the Digidestined. They were blinded by the mist, and so the tables met their mark and struck the Champions, sending them down to the ground.
Killua clicked his teeth and dashed through the mist. He had the less risks of them all to the poisonous effects of the mist so he ran straight to where the spider lady was standing moments ago, but his fist met nothing but air. "Huh?!"
The mist cleared, just in time for him to see the backdoor, slamming close. "Get back here!" He yelled in frustration.
He slammed the door open and looked around the alleyway. He caught a glimpse of the spider Digimon using the threads of her wrists to swing around the buildings to get as far away as possible from the group.
"Damn witch…" He growled, seeing how she was getting away. He entered the restaurant again to gather the others. "Hurry guys, before we lose her!"
"Oh no she won't!" Yolei said, pumping her fists, "Aquilamon, Ultra level!" She declared, raising her Digivice.
"Aquilamon, Ultra Digivolves to… To… Err…"
Everyone stared at Aquilamon expectantly as he tried to evolve, but he glowed and reverted back to Hawkmon as his tummy released a growl. With the rest of the Champions soon doing the same, except obviously for Gatomon, though that didn't stop her stomach from growling.
Killua's eye twitched. "You ate not too long ago! How are you already low on energy!?"
"Did you smell the same soup as us!?" V-Mon defended himself. "It smells so good it opened my appetite again, we just said it!"
Killua face-palmed, the Digimon all looked at the floor with ashamed expressions, while the Digidestined just looked worried about what Arukenimon might do now that they lost track of her.
"Guys!" They looked back to the entrance to see Stigmon and Ken arriving at the scene. The boy looked at the scene and raised an eyebrow. "What happened here?"
"Long story man," Davis said. "But the short version is that Arukenimon just got away!"
Ken frowned. "That explains the car outside… Which way she go?"
"We'll get her in no time!" Stigmon promised with a nod.
"We'll go with you," Davis said, walking up to him. "This time she won't go away."
The rest of the Digidestined shared the sentiment, and even the Digimon looked determined to act despite the hunger.
"Wait a moment please," Everyone turned to stare at Cody, who was staring at them all with a serious expression. "I don't think we should worry about Arukenimon right now. Our true worries at the time should be BlackWargreymon and BlackMetalGarurumon, if the signals are correct then they're nearby and we should save our strength for Yolei and Ken's Ultra level for them."
Killua frowned. "Cody's right. The temple is also nearby; Arukenimon might just be acting as a decoy to distract us while her dog destroys the temple. Or if the two are fighting each other like usual they cause the destruction of the temple."
Everyone looked at their youngest member and their leader with understanding. They had to play this carefully if they didn't want to lose the last temple and let more of the darkness their destruction cause to extend over this world and beyond.
Cody smiled and clapped his hands together. "So how about we get some of that ramen?" He asked with a smile.
The proposal brought smiles out of everyone, especially from the eager Digimon who just came out of battle.
T.K nodded. "Sure, it'll help us to regain our strength."
"Now that's an idea I can get behind!" Davis grinned.
"Ramen, ramen!" Patamon and V-Mon cheered.
"But Digitamamon and his waiter just ran out…" Kari pointed out, looking at the door.
Yolei clapped her shoulder. "No worries, we'll do it ourselves then!" She said, bringing a smile out of the other girl.
"Ramen?" Ken tilted his head not following the conversation that well.
Killua clapped his back and smile. "Just a pre-battle snack to be ready," He looked at his terminal, looking at his terminal. "Those two are still away from the coordinates, we have time. And if that witch finds it then she won't be able to destroy it by herself."
Ken looked at him and then back at Stigmon who shrugged at him before reverting back to Wormmon. Their minds made up.
The group entered the kitchen and got hands on work. Yolei checked the cooking pot and smiled in delight when she saw the broth of the soup still on it, ready to be used. She only had to turn it on, and put another cooking pot for the eggs Hawkmon gathered from the fridge.
Killua, Kari and Gatomon gathered vegetables and pieces of any meat they could find. From chicken to boar—Or at least the things that resembled them the most from the Digital World—as well as some vegetables to slice them into pieces ready to cook, the girl having experience helping her mom in cooking, and the cat and the boy knowing how to slice things up.
Davis and Ken were in charge of making the mass to make the noodles, the main ingredients, with the help of their partners on amassing it, while T.K and Cody grabbed spices and condiments.
They were about to face their most important battle to date, and this cooking session was not only to satiate their partner's hunger, but also to calm whatever nerves they had for the incoming mission; a moment of calm before the storm that is approaching.
Gnashing her teeth in anger, Arukenimon drove to a jungle on the eastern side of the Chinatown to get as far away from the Digidestined as possible. So close. She was so close to reaching her goal, yet obstacles constantly get in her way. If not the Digidestined, then BlackWargreymon, no matter what she tried to do one or the other always got on her way and she was sick and tired of that! At the very least BlackMetalGarurumon was still alive, if the radar keeping track of the distortion he and BlackWargreymon caused were any indication, only problem was that they were still clashing if the proximity of the dots was any indication.
And now to top it all up the car was starting to malfunction, stopping every once in a while and spitting out smoke, until it finally halted completely and a big cloud of smoke emerged from the motor, "Now what?!" She complained.
She stepped on the accelerator again, not caring of the fact that that increased the amount of smoke coming out from the motor. She just wanted to get to the coordinates soon. Her impatient sadly caused the motor to finally burst and the cap on top of it to fly away.
She jumped out of the buggy and started coughing due to inhaling a small amount of the smoke. "D- *Cough, cough* D-Dang it!" She cursed. "The engine will burn at this rate!"
She looked around and ran deep into the trees of the jungle. "Water, I have to find some water!"
Ever since Mummymon's death she had to learn how to take care of the buggy. Before that she never really had to understand anything beyond what put it into motion and what stopped it. Dang it… With each passing day she wished the bandaged buffoon was still alive, things were at the very less mundane and she didn't have to do every single thing by herself. And BlackMetalGarurumon wasn't exactly a mechanical genius, or a genius period.
She walked into the forest, the humid atmosphere on it making her sweaty and dampening her mood even further. This was supposed to be an easy day, find and destroy the last temple and leave, then have some ramen, why has everything turned so hard!?
Can the universe just throw her a bone!?
*Swissssh*
Her ears twitched and she looked around. "Huh… What's that sound?"
*Swissssh*
She closed her eyes and focused, if it was what she thought it was then that meant one of her problems will soon be over. So she waited and just listened.
*Swissssh*
"… Over there!" She took off running in the direction of the sound, thanking the heavens that she found something to put out the fire from the car.
She ran pass the bamboo tress of the area, until they gave away to a peaceful clearing that was towered by a gigantic mountain, which top was covered by the clouds. From said mountain a waterfall fell into a big pond, it was crystalline and pure the reflection of the sun creating the illusion of a rainbow as it bounced on it.
"Wow… Not bad…" She said as she walked to the pond and crouched to cup her hands on the water and take a gulp from it to refresh herself after such a stressful day. "Ahhh… perfect!"
She looked up at the top of the mountain and could spot something on the top, covered by the clouds in the altitude. She took out a binocular to get a better look and the started gaping in shock. For there, resting innocently at the top of the waterfall was the last remaining temple.
"I found it! It's here!" She could barely contain her joy. Finally, at last, the last temple was within her grasp to be destroyed.
"Oi, get away from there!" She turned around at the sudden shout. From the bushes and trees Digitamamon and Tapirmon emerged with angry frowns on their faces. "Get away from our holy ramen spring!"
"Wanton Ramen!" The Tapirmon said angrily.
"So this is the so-called secret!" She said, grinning triumphantly. Not only had she found the last temple, but also the source of that delicious ramen soup. She grinned ferally and removed her hat and glasses while her form took its original appearance again. "Thanks for telling me, now I want it now more than ever! Spider Thread!"
The threads shot out from the jewels on her hands and wrapped around the two Digimon, she spun them around over her head and threw them into the forest, still wrapped in her threads.
She chuckled and looked back at the temple. It was time, now nothing could get in her way; there was just one last thing to do.
"COME, BLACKMETALGARURUMOOOOON!"
Both beasts didn't show the slightest show of being tired, even after hours of combating one another. Their artificial nature allowing them to go continue on their dispute as long as they wished, they could be at it for eternity if they wished, they were completely equal even if they didn't realized it yet, or even if they refused to accept it.
BlackMetalGarurumon sneered as he launched lasers from his snout, which were blocked by the BlackWargreymon's gauntlets. He attacked the wolf with japs that the animal avoided by waving in the air with ease.
BlackMetalGarurumon opened his mouth to release the cyan blast from his mouth and push the dragon away. BlackWargreymon crossed his arms over his buddy and with by pushing his arms outwards dissipated the attack, his eyes widened however when several missiles went in his direction, he detached his wings and formed them on a shield to cover himself from the rain of lethal weapons all of them causing an explosion that covered the body of the dragon. The wolf yelped and moved out of the way when a BlackWargreymon blasted through the smoke with his Black Tornado attack, ready to impale him.
The wolf dodged and the tornado spun around to attack him, BlackMetalGarurumon opened his belly and flipped in the air to attack various times with his biggest missiles. The attacks hit their mark and yet another explosion formed, the wolf was ready, charging a blast on his mouth for when his opponent comes out from the smoke.
However, BlackWargreymon stood there, in the same place where he received the missiles. Glaring at the wolf with the same filled hate gaze that accompanied him on each of their encounters, while his mind raged just by staring at the canine. 'I won't rest… I can't rest until you are destroyed. Every time I see you… Every time I look you this awful feeling comes back and it doesn't go away, this pain in my chest continues to grow! Why... why do you cause me this pain? What is this emotion?!'
The wolf obviously didn't had an answer for him, and that fact just infuriated him more beyond his own reasoning. All that he knew was that once this beast goes away the pain and that strange emotion will do it to. He will be free to carry on with his existence.
The wolf growled at him, when his ear twitched. He looked towards the east and his eyes narrowed. He barked and opened all of his slots to unleash his barrage of attacks. BlackWargreymon blocked them and a third explosion took place over the docks.
Once they cleared his eyes widened when he saw his enemy getting away again. "STOP RUNNING!" He roared.
BlackMetalGarurumon ignored him. The lady in red was calling him. The lady in red who was mean before but now was nice, who started being nice after the man in blue died… all because of the predator in white.
He will do whatever the lady in red says, because just like the man in blue told him: He was a good boy.
With big, large gulps Davis and V-Mon drank the rest of the soup and lowered their bowls, revealing their more than satisfied faces with big smiles stretching on each corner of their mouths, the rest of the Digidestined having similar smiles on their faces.
"It came out pretty good," T.K said with a satisfied smirk.
"The soup was really great," Davis moaned in satisfaction as he melted on his seat while patting his stomach. "Thank the heavens there was a pot full of it."
"So another thing to add our resume as Digidestined: We're pretty good chefs!" Yolei said proudly while playing with her chopping sticks.
"It was really good," Cody nodded, setting down his sticks at the side of his plate, with Armadillomon nodding beside him.
"It was!" The armadillo said, looking up at his partner. "This was a great idea Cody!"
Cody scratched his cheek with a smile. "It was nothing," He waved it off with a smile. 'While the mission was important, this was a nice experience. I can't just focus on one thing that I want to do, as important as it is, sometimes I have to think on what's best or important for the others too. There's a time and a place for everything after all.' He reflected as he looked down at his plate with a smile.
On his pocket, a soft yellow light was coming out.
Their moment of momentary rest was cut off short when their Terminals started beeping. Everyone fished them out and saw the red dots that represented BlackWargreymon and BlackMetalGarurumon being on the move, heading towards the coordinates of the last temple one following the other.
"No time to digest the food it seems," Killua said, sitting up. "It's time."
The rest of the Digidestined nodded and grabbed their Digivices, determined to head out towards the last temple.
"V-Mon Digivolves to… Exveemon!"
"Hawkmon Digivolves to… Aquilamon!"
"Ankylomon Digivolves to… Ankylomon!"
"Patamon Digivolves to… Angemon!"
"Wormmon Digivolves to… Stigmon!"
"Gatomon Armor Digivolves to… Nefertimon! The Angel of Light!"
With Killua riding Nefertimon alongside Kari, and the rest of the Digidestined mounting their respective partners, they all head straight to where the two dots responsible for the distortions on space where moving.
This was going to be their last chance, all or nothing. If it was necessary then they might take drastic measures to put an end to their opponent's quest for chaos and destruction.
Killua looked back at the three Digidestined whom had yet to eliminate living, real Digimon and hoped they were ready to play that part if needed. He couldn't shield them from that burden forever.
He looked at T.K and then back at Kari, maybe the two of them could tap again into the inner power of their traits to unlock the Ultimate Level for their partners, which would give them a definitive edge on battle.
'Well, it doesn't matter, we're currently as ready as we can be,' He thought with a serious frown. "It will have to do."
Arukenimon stared in the distance, waiting for her loyal creation to make his appearance to destroy that wretched edification and get this phase of her master's plan done for. And she smile with delight when she saw his silhouette coming closer and closer to her location. "Good boy, BlackMetalGarurumon, now destroy the temple!"
The wolf heard her, and as he got closer the slots around his body opened so he could unleash his barrage of missiles. Yet before he could fire, a drop kick to his back sent him crashing to the floor near the pond where his master was waiting for him.
Arukenimon gasped and looked up, gritting her teeth as she saw the one responsible for such an act, "BlackWargreymon…!"
The dragon ignored her, his eyes focusing solely on the wolf, which got back into his paws to growl at him. "Nowhere to run," the Mega stated as he raised his gauntlet s and glared down at the wolf. "I will destroy you!"
The wolf growled back at him, baring his fangs and getting ready to restart their battle from the docks.
"HOLD THE FREAKING PHONE!" They looked to the side to see the Digidestined arriving as well. BlackMetalGarurumon and Arukenimon jumped to the side, with the Digidestined positioning in front of the so called 'sacred pond'. "We won't let you do this again. Fight somewhere else for fuck's sake!" Davis growled at them.
The three sides glared at each other, the Digidestined glared at the two parties who wanted to destroy the temple or disregarded its importance. Arukenimon and BlackMetalGarurumon glared at them due to their interference with their plan in more sense than one, with BlackMetalGarurumon growling harder at the sight of Killua. And BlackWargreymon glared at the kids for standing on his way, and at the woman for bringing to life that creature in the first place.
The dragon narrowed his eyes. "How many times to I have to repeat myself? Stay away from my fight."
"You kids are so pesky!" Arukenimon said with a sneer and looked down at BlackMetalGarurumon. "Get rid of them so the temple can be destroyed!"
"Don't distract it with your useless orders!" BlackWargreymon snapped, turning to glare at the woman. "Mind your own business; I shall deal with you later!"
He made more tamed version of his Terra Destroyer and launched it at the woman, without time to dodge it impacted in front of her and caused an explosion that sent her flying away.
BlackMetalGarurumon barked as he saw the lady in red flying away and then glared at BlackWargreymon. Red energy seeping from his body, as he unconsciously tapped into the power of the Evil Spore.
The Digidestined tensed, no more time to waste. Ken looked up at Stigmon and raised his Digivice. "Now, Stigmon!"
"Stigmon Ultra Digivolves to… JewelBeemon!"
Yolei did the same as she turned to Aquilamon, "Ultra time!"
"Aquilamon Ultra Digivolves to… Hippogryphmon!"
BlackWargreymon recognized that as long as those kids stood on his way, he wouldn't have the chance to properly fight against the wolf, and the wolf following his mission wanted to get rid of them so he could go for the temple. So the two raised to the sky, and in a momentary moment of truce attacked the two Ultras.
The wolf howled his cyan blast, while BlackWargreymon cupped his hands together, "Terra Destroyer!"
The group was forced to scatter to avoid the attacks, but the Digimon didn't sit idly and went immediately for the counter attack.
"Spike Buster!" JewelBeemon attacked with his spear at the black dragon, and Exveemon floated behind him to offer some suppressive fire.
The blue dragon crossed his arms over his chest and fired his attack, "X-Laser!"
Their partners didn't wait either, Davis focused Nen on his feet and launched a ball with his Fire Tornado, while Ken took out his book, Sochi, to rip out a page that turned into a loaded shotgun before opening fire to the dragon.
Without effort, BlackWargreymon blocked the spear and pushed the Ultra Digimon back, then crossed his arms to block the different blasts of attacks shot at him. They caused a small explosion but he swiped the smoke away revealing his unharmed form.
Hippogryphmon focused on BlackMetalGarurumon, he opened his mouth and released his attack, "Heat Wave!"
Nefertimon floated over him and reverted back to Gatomon. She landed on the Ultra's head and narrowed her eyes. "Cat's eyes beam!"
The Mega dodged the attacks, and opened his mouth to release his cyan blast. But Killua jumped over and nailed a kick to his chin that lifted his head, making the blast sail harmlessly into the air. The boy didn't stopped there and pointed two fingers at the wolf, sparking with electricity, "Narukami!"
A bolt of electricity struck the bolt, making his body spam and his anger for the white haired kid grow.
The sleeves on T.K's sweater dissolved, ready to be used against the Megas, "Cody, time to jump in!" He said, before looking down at the boy. "You know what we have to do, right?"
Cody summoned his shinai, staring at it grimly before nodding. "I know…" He said, gripping the handle of the bamboo sword. 'Even if I don't want to… even if I find it detestable… It's for the best, to keep the temple safe, to protect the Digital World. What right would I have to get mad at my friends for not taking this fight seriously, when I can bring myself to do what's best for everyone. I… I can't back down not now!'
From his pocket, both his Crest and Digivice floated out, a slot opening on the left side of the Digital device where the Crest to slid in. Both yellow items fused into one and bathed the partner of the kid with power, making him more eager to join the fight.
"Oh yeah, now this is what I'm talking about!" Ankylomon cheered as his body glowed a bright yellow, "Time to go Ultra!"
Cody looked at Ankylomon and his Digivice with surprise before giving him a firm nod.
"Ankylomon Ultra Digivolves to…" The spiky shell of the prehistoric Digimon glowed from the inside out, a blue light coming from it. The shell bursts and revealed to be covered in diamonds and rock beneath it, the new Digimon stood on its hind legs and its head covered by diamond and red fur, while his arms were two pillars of hard diamonds. "Gogmamon!"
As big as Greymon, Gogmamon towered over many of his friends with ease. The others had turned to see the new Ultra, even the two Megas stopped to glare at their new obstacle, while this Ultra smirked with the same fashion Ankylomon usually did.
Cody stared at the new powerful form of his partner in awe, "Gogmamon!"
Killua smirked; it seems the balance had tipped even more in their favor.
The whole group gathered together around the new Ultra, with the two Megas doing the same to face their opponents. The kids all let out their Ren and prepared their Hatsu. Killua sparking with electricity, Ken's book in hand, T.K's strings floating around, Davis' feet flaring up, Cody gripping his shinai, Yolei brandishing her Nen blades, and Sunlight making Kari's body shine.
The battle for the safety of the last temple was just getting started.
A/N: Ankylomon was always the hardest Digimon to get an Ultra. My first option was a Digimon called Branchiomon, but its design never convinced me.
This chapter is the shortest I've written ever since I started writing the sequel. But seeing the original chapter, there's not much going on. And the Digivolution sequence takes over 4 minutes of the episode, like bruh! And without Mummymon, not enough things to do with Arukenimon.
We're getting closer to the end of the arc. So stay tuned people.
