The ambient was tense as both sides glared at one another. The two fake Megas grudgingly making an alliance to fulfill their respective goals without the children and their partners interfering, and the Digidestined assessing the situation as best as they could. Even with the resent addition of Gogmamon with them the scale had just barely tipped over to their favor, so they had to make each hit and each attack count, there was no room for error or otherwise their mission was going to reach the worst ending possible.
BlackWargreymon narrowed his eyes at them. "Leave, this is your last chance," He told them.
"We won't do that," Gatomon fired back.
Hippogryphmon nodded. "We won't leave this temple unguarded."
BlackMetalGarurumon's eyes became feral as he bared his fangs and barked loudly, if he had any fur it would be standing up at this point.
"We won't back down," Exveemon said, taking a step forward.
JewelBeemon twirled his spear and pointed it at them. "The only option left is for us to fight."
The dragon acted first, shooting to the sky and cupping his hands together. "I warned you time and time again! If you won't leave then disappear! Terra Destroyer!" He yelled as he launched his destructive attack.
"He's going all out!" Angemon cursed as he prepared to counter attack.
Gogmamon smirked. "Leave it to me, man!"
Cody looked at his partner's new form in shock, "Gogmamon!?"
The giant Digimon stood in front of everyone and raised the giant pillars of diamonds he had for arms. The attack got closer by the second; the group entirely had to cover themselves from the heat it radiated. Gogmamon narrowed his eyes as the attack impacted against the tip of his pillar, he gritted his teeth and roared as he planted his feet and hold the attack back.
To everyone's surprise the attack seemed to melt into the crystals, its colors turning into the same hot red as the attack. The ball of energy got smaller and smaller, and the diamonds covering the body of the Ultra all acquired the same hot red color, until the miniature sun finally disappeared.
"What?!" BlackWargreymon flinched back in surprised and even BlackMetalGarurumon's eyes widened.
"Return to sender!" Gogmamon said with a strained tone, holding so much power on his body being a difficult task for him, "Cursed Reflection!"
From his pillars the energy two beams of the same color as the Terra Destroyers were released, both of them aiming at the Megas. The two dodged by jumping out of the way, and the attack impacted further into the forest.
"Gogmamon!" Cody basically had stars on his eyes as he admired his partner's technique.
Everyone else was also looking at him in awe. "He absorbed BlackWargreymon's attack…" T.K breathed out, impressed by the feat.
"Man, that's awesome!" Davis grinned and pumped his fists
The Digimon panted and lowered his pillars, before giving the kids a tired smile. "Thanks guys, but don't ask me to do that often. Felt like I was burning inside."
"Don't worry, I got a plan," Killua said, looking at their enemy with narrowed eyes. "Listen, everyone," He said, tensing his body in case their enemies tried something. "We'll split up to face against them. You will all deal with BlackWargreymon, overwhelm him with your numbers, don't give him the chance to attack like that again. I'll go for the wolf, hopefully I've be able to hold him back so he won't reach the temple."
"Can you take on him all by yourself?" Davis asked, looking worried.
"I think so," He said, before giving them a smile. "But keep an eye out in case it goes too out of hand."
Davis returned the nod with a smile. "Okay!" His Ren exploded, and so did the others, everyone in agreement with their leader's plan. "Let's do it, guys!"
The group charged forward, the two Megas getting into position to intercept them. They split up and Killua went for the wolf, grabbing him by the muzzle and pushing him back with sheer strength as they glared at each other. The boy's blue eyes narrowed in determination. "We won't let you…"
"… Destroy the temple!" Kari unknowingly finished his sentenced as she tried to deliver a kick to BlackWargreymon's head, Sunlight covering her body and taking full advantage of the good weather to strengthen her blows.
The Digimon pushed her kick back and aimed his clawed gauntlet to her head, full intended on impaling her, but a blast to his head made him turn to the aggressor just in time to receive a punch that made him move back. He glared at Gatomon, who stood protectively in front of Kari and glaring back at him. The two of them charged together, throwing punches from all possible angles, the dragon blocked and dodged the incoming blows, heaving through them as if he saw them coming from a mile away.
He grabbed Gatomon's arm and slammed her against Kari while releasing her, sending the both flying to the side, with the cat on top of the girl. He got ready to attack them again as they were down, but a yell from above shifted his focus.
Yolei dived with her arms in the form of an 'X' as she descended upon the Mega Digimon with her Nen blades glowing. He crossed his arms and the girl clashed against his gauntlets and he could see the fear on her eyes, he pushed her back and swiftly delivered a kick to her sides that sent her towards a tree.
Luckily for her, Hippogryphmon acted in time and caught her partner on his claws to fly away to safety. The girl winced from the hit but smiled up at her partner. "Thanks…"
"Don't mention it," He told her, before glaring at the dragon and unleashing his attack, "Heat Wave!"
Like before, BlackWargreymon was unmoved by the attack, merely crossing his arms over his body and dispelling the attack completely, he looked up and saw JewelBeemon diving down with his spear to impale him so he jumped back and avoided it.
Ken aided his partner by ripping a page and forming a spear to attack in tandem with him, while Davis and Exveemon sneaked from behind to offer their aid.
BlackWargreymon dodged the thrusts thrown on his direction, ducked under the swings and parried the blows, all the while his eyes narrowed with increasing anger. 'Why?'
"X-Laser!"
"Fire Tornado!"
The yells made him slip on his concentration, making the partners of Kindness to be the first to deliver a blow to his chest that sent him back, in the right direction to receive a direct him from their friends which caused a small explosion that made them leap back.
Davis and Exveemon watched expectantly the cloud of smoke formed by their attack. Yet they gasped when BlackWargreymon shot out from the cloud of smoke and rammed his head against the solar plexus of the blue dragon.
Exveemon's eyes bulged out of his socket, and due to the force of the blow he was sent flying against the bamboo trees behind him, his giant body tearing through them like wood sticks and causing them to break down.
"Exveemon!" Davis barely had to register what just happened to his partner, when the obsidian dragon grabbed his arm and threw him over his shoulder in a judo throw, causing the boy to cough out some spit, "GAUGH!"
Not satisfied with that, BlackWargreymon literally kicked the boy while he was down sending him in the direction where Ken and JewelBeemon were charging to help their friends, the purple haired boy stopping to catch his friend into his arms, "Davis!"
"I-I'm fine…" He rasped out.
"Watch out!" JewelBeemon said, as they turned to see the dragon charging at them in the form of his black tornado.
They moved out of the way of the attack, but he stopped just as he passed by them and gave a kick to Ken's face and one to JewelBeemon's chest making the boy let go of Davis and causing the three to fall to the ground.
'Why do this?' He wondered, with narrowed eyes.
He found himself wrapped in strings as a voice shouted out, "Hand of Fate!"
An orange blast struck him square in the chest, for the first time eliciting a cry of pain from the dragon, "GAGH!"
While he was trapped by the strings, Gogmamon and Cody went in to attack. The boy struck the dragon with his shinai as much as he could while he was stunned, but no matter how much he struck them he couldn't feel his ability making effect. He gritted his teeth as he realized the effect was the same as in the south temple. 'Nothing… Even now…'
Gogmamon struck from the front, raising his arms as they glowed with energy, "Giant Crater!"
BlackWargreymon snapped the strings holding him and assembled his shield to block the attack, the floor cracking beneath him.
Angemon floated above the two, his hand curled into a fist. "Gogmamon, do the same as before!"
"Roger!" The giant Digimon nodded with a grin.
"Hand of Fate!" The angel fired his attack to the back of his friend, aiming for the crystals.
The crystals absorbed the holy power of Angemon and Gogmamon grinned as he focused it on the tip of his pillars, "Cursed Reflection!"
BlackWargreymon's eyes widened as the attack was released point blank to his shield. An explosion took place and a cloud of smoke was lifted, everyone sat up and observed with bathed breath the result.
Meanwhile, Killua fought his own battle against the wolf. As he pushed the wolf away from the fight his friends were having and away from the temple, he kicked him away using Ryu to focus sixty percent of his aura on his leg.
The wolf skidded back, planting his paws on the dirt to avoid getting away far from the objective of his mission. He growled and opened the slots on his body to fire his barrage of missiles.
Killua got ready, and from his pockets he took out his yo-yos, with expertise he spun the two on each side of his body at incredible speed until they were almost blurs.
The wolf fired and the Hunter charged forwards, coating his weapons with Shu and striking the missiles before they could reach him, creating consecutives explosions all around him. The wolf narrowed his eyes as the boy got covered in a cloud of smoke, then they widened when he jumped out of it and threw one of his yo-yos aiming to the top of his head.
The wolf jumped out of the way, but Killua saw it coming and threw his second yo-yo in an arc that impacted the back of the wolf's head making him stumble forward and giving Killua the chance to give him a kick to the chin.
Despite the damage, the wolf growled and took to the skies, opened his mouth and launched his blue blast from his mouth. The boy dodged, moving around the forest as the blast froze everything it touched. He threw one of his yo-yos to one of the bamboos, getting it wrapped around on of them and tugged himself up to the top of it.
He tugged back the yo-yo and started jumping from bamboo top to bamboo top as he dodged the barrage of blasts coming his way, he focused Nen on his feet and propelled upwards and launched his yo-yo to the flying wolf until it wrapped on his front paws.
"Gotcha!" He said, activating his Hatsu and releasing a stream of electricity.
The shock of the attack made the wolf stop, and Killua took his chance to reel himself upward and nailed another kick to the chin of the wolf.
Killua untangled his yo-yos from the paws and with them on his palms he slammed them on the side of BlackMetalGarurumon's face, "GARG!"
The wolf's eyes opened and a red energy started surrounding him, Killua gasped as he recognized it, his mind flashing back to Ken and Blademon. This was bad.
The wolf rammed his head against Killua's chest and pushed him down, hoping to crash the boy against the floor. Killua realized this and used Ko on his right fist to slam it on the wolf's head, getting him off him but doing nothing to stop his fall.
The wolf straightened himself and charged again. Killua used the propelling technique to soften his landing, and then leaped back to avoid the stomp BlackMetalGarurumon was aiming for.
BlackMetalGarurumon raised his head and started firing tiny lasers from near his muzzle. Killua heaved and ducked to dodge the small lasers, one of them grazing his hair and cutting off some strands. He focused Nen on his feet to give the ground a stomp and lift a cloud of dust to hide him from view.
When he emerged, he did so using his Echo Rhythm, copies of him charging towards the wolf. Yet this fake Mega possessed qualities a normal version of his species would have, that included scanners on his eyes that told the real one apart from the copies. So he pinpointed the boy's location and fired another pair of lasers at him.
Killua's eyes widened in shock and leaped in the air to dodge them, dispelling his copies in the process, and launched his two yo-yos at him. BlackMetalGarurumon fired his lasers again and one of them cut the string of the boy's weapons, but luckily the other struck him on the nose.
Killua clicked his teeth at his ruined weapon and tugged back the one he still had. He landed and charged forward, action imitated by his opponent whom opened his mouth to bit down on the boy's shoulder.
'Godspeed!' With that thought, an electric aura covered Killua and he vanished from sight, only to reappear on top of the wolf to deliver a stomp accompanied by a discharge of electricity.
Killua didn't let up, he knew that the stunt effect his electricity carried would be ineffective against an artificial Digimon like him, previous experience from his first fight with BlackWargreymon told him that, so he had to focus solely on the strength of his fist. He used Lightning Speed to control the focus of his punches and not use the automatic defense of Whirlwind.
Still he moved like a blur, appearing a reappearing to strike the body of the wolf, whose scanners couldn't keep up with the boy's speed. The wolf's eyes widened when one of the boy's punches caused a crack on its metallic body, his eyes shrank to pinpricks and with a mad howl all the slots on his body opened and fired a barrage of missiles to close proximity.
Killua saw the slots opening and knew he had to get back; he jumped and dashed away from the blast zone and when he looked back only to see smoke and frozen bamboo trees.
Then, like they were one, both BlackMetalGarurumon and BlackWargreymon floated out of their respective cloud of smoke. The wolf had a crack on one side of his body, while the dragon's shield had cracks produced from the combined attack of Gogmamon and Angemon.
The dragon spared the other Mega a look to see the damage he gained and scowled seeing him hurt, not out of worry or pity, but because it was supposed to be him the one to fight and end him, not the boy with white hair. They continued to get in the way, and all for what?
He gripped the straps of his gauntlets as he narrowed his eyes to glare down at them. "Why are you going this far to protect that temple?"
"To protect the Digital World," Exveemon said, as the Digimon all grouped in front of the Digidestined, all glaring back at the dragon, "That is our purpose!"
BlackMetalGarurumon seemed to be growing impatient by their words; he snarled and charged energy on his mouth to release his blue blast. But something wrapped around his hind paw, he turned around just in time to see Killua tugging himself up to their level with the help of his remaining yo-yo.
The boy cocked his arm and used Ko again to deliver a powerful right hook to the face of the wolf that sent it back to the earth. BlackWargreymon's eyes narrowed in anger and he threw a right hook at the boy in retaliation for attacking his personal target. Killua crossed his arms over his body and used Ken to increase his defense as the attack sent him down to the floor.
And while worried for their friend, the Digidestined took advantage of his distraction to aim their attacks.
Exveemon crossed his arms over his chest and fired his attack, "X-Laser!"
Davis got ready to aid his partner, jumping high and making another ball of Nen, "Fire Tornado!"
Ken moved away from the group and ripped a page from his book that summoned a big bazooka; he crouched and took aim before firing the missile.
JewelBeemon took aim with his spear and he focused his inner energy, "Spike Buster!"
Gatomon jumped on the back of Hippogryphmon and her eyes glowed with pink energy. "Cat's Eyes Beam!"
"Heat Wave!" Both attacks were launched at the same time.
Angemon's knuckle glowed with orange energy before he fired his attack along with his friends', "Hand of Fate!"
The Digidestined who focused their technique on close range combat attacked the back of Gogmamon, not with the intention harming him, but with the intention of letting him absorb the strength of their attacks so he could join on this last combination. The giant Digimon grinned and raised his pillars, both of them shining with a rainbow of colors, "Cursed Reflection!"
The dragon's attention was torn from the boy and his target to the multiple attacks heading his way. He assembled his already cracked shield in an attempt to defend himself. If he had any visible teeth then they would be gritting to the point of cracking. "So for the sake of your purpose you can act this boldly?!"
His shield gave away, breaking entirely and making all of the attacks impacted him directly, "RAAAGH!"
Killua got up after the hit from the dragon and ran back to rejoin his friends, looking out to where their enemies had been sent crashing. "Did we get them?"
Everyone waited with baited breath for any sign of the result of their attacks. Their hopes for the battle to be over got crushed when both figures emerged from the forest, and gasped at the state they were in.
The crack on BlackMetalGarurumon's side got bigger and there was a big dent on the side of his face, the red energy spamming erratically around him, and BlackWargreymon's front armor cracked and dented, and both of them had a black liquid that mimicked blood leaking from their wounds.
"Why…" BlackWargreymon growled, staggering forward despite his state, while BlackMetalGarurumon growled and snarled behind him. "Why is your purpose more important than mine?! I found a reason for me to live, but I can't fulfill it while that thing continues to live!" He spat, turning to glare at the wolf, which ignored him completely. "I don't care what gets in the way, I don't care what gets in my way! So tell me, WHY DO YOU PREVENT ME FROM REACHING IT!"
As he roared in anger, the black liquid leaking on streams through his body, and his yellow eyes shrink to the point of being pinpricks.
Killua's eyes narrowed, understanding the purpose he was talking about, yet he couldn't understand what factor BlackMetalGarurumon played in it, why couldn't he leave it alone, why was he so obsessed with destroying the wolf?
"This is…" Kari muttered, their attention turning to her, her eyes almost glassy as she spoke. "I don't know how to explain it, but it's a feeling that is hurting him… deeply."
"And if I have to destroy that temple so you won't get in my way ever again, then so be it!" The dragon declared with conviction, though his voice was strained due to his injuries. "And then the wolf will be destroyed, so I can be at ease!"
The group got ready to start the fight again. Nen flowing through the kids, while the Digimon got ready to use their strongest attacks, he was on his last rope it won't take much to finally put him down. Their attention was so focused on the dragon, that what happened next came as a surprise.
"DIE…"
Everyone, including BlackWargreymon turned to look at the wolf, which was hunched over and with foam coming from his mouth.
Killua blinked and opened his mouth in shock. "Did… Did he just…"
The wolf raised his head and glared at the group with red eyes. "DIE, WHITE PREDATOR! DIE!"
He opened his mouth and unleashed a cyan blast mixed with tints of red aimed at the boy. Killua's eyes widened in shock and he barely had time to dodge as the attack passed by him and struck the base of the mountain, leaving a sizeable crater on it.
"Damn!" Davis said with wide eyes, seeing the damage that attack caused.
"If he hits the temple with that…" T.K muttered in fright.
"We have to get them away, no matter what!" Killua said, turning back. "But to go one on one against him like that…"
"I'll help!" Angemon offered, floating beside Killua.
"Me too!" Gatomon said. "We won't let you fight him alone!"
"We'll deal with BlackWargreymon!" JewelBeemon said, Hippogryphmon, Exveemon and Gogmamon joining him, and the kids nodding behind him.
"Alright…" Killua said, letting Godspeed aura cover him again. "Let's go!"
And like that, everyone charged to their respective objectives. The two holy Digimon going with the Hunter to take on the wolf, the boy using his superior speed to tackle the wolf into the forest to get him as far away from the temple as possible.
Kari gripped her Digivice as she watched her friend and partner fight against the wolf. "They're doing their best and will need all the help possible!"
T.K nodded. "Right…" He said, looking down at his own Digivice. "This time it will work… Just like last time!"
Kari nodded and the two of them closed their eyes, focusing deeply to call upon a power slumbering deep within them, and like in any moment of need it came out for them and their partner's body began to glow.
"Gatomon Ultra Digivolves to… Angewomon!"
"Angemon Ultra Digivolves to… Magnaangemon!"
The two powered up angels flew after their leader as he pushed the wolf further and further into the forest using his superior speed to push them away from the scene.
The wolf growled and bit down on the boy's shoulder, making Killua wince in pain and stop on his tracks to get him off him. The two angels floated behind them to attack the wolf's unprotected back.
"Celestial Arrow!" The feathers on Angewomon's glove extended as she formed an arrow on her free hand.
"Excalibur!" Magnaangemon charged forward with the glowing sword attached to his wrist.
The wolf gave them a side eyed glance and jumped off the boy to float up and avoid the attack, and Killua jumping back to do the same.
"Sorry Killua," Magnaangemon said as he floated at the boy's side.
"Don't worry about it," He reassured as he glared up. "Here comes!"
High above the air, the wolf howled with rage, "DIE WHITE PREDATOR! METAL WOLF CLAW!"
The cyan blast escaped the jaws of the wolf with strength never seen before. Magnaangemon draw a circle in the air and a golden gate appeared. "Gate of Destiny: Release!"
The blast was absorbed and then sent back to the wolf, which moved out of the way and opened the slots all over his body, "ICE WOLF CLAW!"
The barrage of missiles was fired all aimed towards the angels and the kid, Angewomon acted this time, she brought her palms together and opened them to form an arc of energy, "Celestial Atmosphere!"
The arc of light crashed with the missiles, detonating them in the air and causing an explosion that hide the location of the wolf, until they heard their gruff voice calling out his next attack.
"GIGA MISSILE!" Three consecutive shots were heard from behind the cloud of smoke, and it cleared away when three bigger projectiles were sent down to the group.
Killua acted this time; he propelled up with Nen and threw three thunderbolts at the missiles to make them explode in the air. The wolf snarled and with a mighty howl, the slots on his body opened again, and the energy gathered on his mouth again.
Killua's eyes widened when his opponent released all of his attacks at the same time, the missiles, the blast, and the big projectiles, all while he was still in the air with nowhere to dodge.
"Killua!" Magnaangemon luckily swooped in and caught him, with Angewomon accompanying them they flew away from the deranged wolf as he continued to unleash his attacks, seeing ready to level the whole forest.
And with the group things weren't going as smoothly. Despite being injured, BlackWargreymon proved to be a formidable opponent. He caught JewelBeemon's spear and spun him around until he crashed into Hippogryphmon, then he turned around and nailed a knee strike on an incoming Gogmamon's chin and then a kick to Exveemon's chest.
"We have to jump in!" Ken said, flipping through Sochi to find a suitable weapon for the occasion. "Even now he has the upper hand!"
Kari expelled Sunlight and nodded at the boy's suggestion. "Now he has his sight on the temple more than ever, if we fail and he brings it down then the Digital World will pay dearly."
"Not only the Digital World," Cody said with a frown, gripping on his shinai completely nervous. "Ours will too if we let it happen."
Davis looked up at the temple with a frown, the gears on his head turning slowly until gridding to a stop and lighting a bulb on his head. "Guys… I have an idea…"
"What is it?" T.K asked, looking at the boy.
"Remember bird-brain from the temple on the volcano?" He received nods all around. "Well, what if the guardian on this temple can appear like he did? Maybe he can give us a hand!"
"That… might work…" Yolei said with wide eyes. "Zhuqiamon mentioned he and his 'brother' recovered enough strength, so that might be the case."
"But if he is in a state like Zhuqiamon then he doesn't have a body," Ken. "It must be trapped on the temple like all the others…"
Davis frowned and looked at his Digivice. "Then maybe we can do something about it…" He winced when he heard another blow to their friends, seeing how Hippogryphmon fell to the ground by a hammer fist.
"And what exactly can we do?!" Yolei asked, wincing as well as a hit impacted on JewelBeemon.
"Let's talk the big guy himself!" Davis said, looking up. "Let's get up there and ask the guardian if there's something we can do to help him!"
Now T.K winced when he heard a big 'Thud' coming from the way Gogmamon fell on his back and caused a crater on the floor. "We don't have any guarantee if it'll work!"
"We won't know until we try!" Davis said, he might not have thought of all the possibilities of his plan, but there was nothing to lose by trying it on his opinion. "We won't know until we try!"
"… We can't discard the possibility," Kari added, deciding to put his trust in Davis' plan. "The fight isn't in our favor and from the looks of it…" Her gaze went further into the forest, where various explosions could be heard. "Killua and Angewomon's fight is not on theirs either…"
T.K frowned in worry, chewing on his inner cheek, before nodding. "Alright, but we have to get up there first."
"As if I let you!" An all too familiar voice said to them. They turned around to see a scorched Arukenimon glaring at them. "I don't care what you're planning you won't get to the temple while I'm on the way!"
The Digidestined weren't intimidated, they just gave the woman dismissive looks that earned her ire. "Don't look at me that way!"
"You can't stop us," Kari said bluntly making the woman flinch. "Please do not stand in our way."
"We don't have time to lose with ya!" Davis spat.
The woman's eyes twitched in anger and then turned to the fight between BlackWargreymon and the Digimon partners of the kids. "But I bet he cares, as will BlackMetalGarurumon once I call him back into action! OI—!"
"DOUBLE NIGHTMARE SYNDROME!" A specter with many eyes tackled the woman into the bushes.
From there Digitamamon and Tapirmon emerged, both covered in the thread of the woman. "We won't let anyone damage the secret ramen spring!"
"Cold Ramen!" The two restaurant owners tackled the woman and kept her busy.
"Digidestined, protect the sacred spring, I'll leave it to you!" Digitamamon said as he struggled to keep the woman down.
"Will do!" Davis said, grinning at the bravery of the two.
"Thank you Digitamamon, Tapirmon!" Yolei cupped her hands around her mouth to thank them, so they can hear her.
"This is our chance!" Ken said, looking up at the temple.
"But how are going to get there?" Cody asked, frowning at the altitude of the temple. "It's really high…"
"Well…" Davis opened his mouth to speak, but then another rumble made them all look back, Davis eyes shrinking in horror as he saw his downed partner at their side, "Exveemon!"
"Owww… He hits really hard…" The Champion whined.
Davis gulped and approached his partner. "Pal, I know you're hurt but could you please take us up to the temple? I'll explain in the way up."
"The temple?" Exveemon looked up and then down at his partner before nodding without questioning much. "Okay."
The Digidestined climbed on Exveemon's hand as he flew up to where the temple was, with BlackWargreymon still distracted fighting his friends he did this without much trouble. All the while Davis explained his plan to him.
He set down Davis and the others just at the top of the waterfall, exactly at the entrance of the temple. Davis turned to him giving him a wide smile. "Thanks partner!"
"Good luck, Davis!" He turned around and flew back down to help his friends in what he could. He narrowed his eyes as he spotted the Mega. "Even if I'm not an Ultra, I'll do what I can!"
The kids turned around and together entered the temple. Just like before the temple was almost empty, only pillars holding the structure were inside the place, but the moment all of them stepped a foot into it the whole thing lit up in a blue light.
"Welcome, Digidestined!" A booming voice echoed all around the chamber. The sheer strength behind it making the group shook in awe.
"A-Are you the guardian of the temple?" Kari asked, looking around.
"Indeed, Child of Light," The voice boomed. "Thank goodness you've arrived, I can tell by the thoughts running through your heads that the situation is less than ideal."
"Please guardian," T.K said, stepping forward. "Is there a way for you to help us out in stopping the people wanting to destroy the temple?"
"… Sadly in this state there's not much I can do…" The voice told them, immediately crushing their hopes. "But you can help on fixing that. There is a chance that I can finally be free from the grip of my seal."
"How!?" Davis asked, ready to do anything that can help on the mission.
"Use your most important tool, that which has guided you throughout this quest you face, your Digivices!" The voice told them.
The group took out their Digivices and the blue light around the room focused on one spot in the center of it. "Now point your lights on this spot, and I shall take care of the rest. Thanks to the help Homeostasis has given me and my brothers, this shall be the only push I'll need to break out of my imprisonment."
The group did as told, focusing their Digivices on the spot lighten up in the middle of the room. Beams of light of their respective colors—Blue, red, yellow, pink, green, and black—shot out of their D-3s and impacted with the spot of light.
Davis didn't noticed, but a soft blue glow came from his pocket.
And then everything went white.
This must be what a holocaust was like.
Those were Killua's thoughts as he dodged the bombardment coming from the flying wolf. Magnaangemon cut down the missiles that came their way, not having the time to open the Gate again, while Angewomon fired arrow after arrow to detonate them before reaching them.
Killua couldn't do much, he was running on fumes when it comes to lighting, the next best thing was to use his remaining yo-yo and a second Conjured one to strike the missiles. Godspeed was already out of the window, and with how far into the woods they were they couldn't tell how the others were doing.
All the while they could hear the mad howling of the whole in the sky, repeating the same word to the point where it was getting old. "DIE WHITE PREDATOR! DIE!"
"WE GET IT, YOU WANT ME DEAD!" Killua snapped as he swung his yo-yos around to make the incoming projectiles coming their way.
"We can't keep up like this!" Magnaangemon said. "We will run out of energy and we won't be able to land a hit on him!"
"But what can we do!?" Angewomon asked, sweat falling down her face. "We can't get even close!"
Killua knew they were right; this was like trying to get past Youpi's defense except they didn't have his grandfather's Dragon Dive! If anything, it was as if they had the Dragon Dive against them!
It would be a completely different story if the wolf had at least some cool down time from attack to attack, but he seemed to be perfectly fine with summoning missile after missile and blast after blast against them.
Killua's eyes narrowed. 'Is that stupid 'gift' thing, it's boosting him like never before, all because of his hate for me,' He almost wanted to laugh, how many more bad guys are going to paint a target on his back?
The salvation came in a way that ironically filled the trio with dread. A loud rumble resonated through the whole forest and the clouds turned from the bright blue to a stormy black. That usually meant one thing.
'No…' Killua thought in denial as his eyes widened in shock.
The wolf finally stopped his attack and turned to where the temple was. "OBJECTIVE. TEMPLE. DESTROY!" He howled and flew off to where the battle had begun.
"T.K…" Magnaangemon muttered.
"Kari…" Angewomon shared his worry a heavy feeling forming on her chest.
"Let's go!" Killua told them, not wasting any other second in moving back towards the clearing.
They moved as fast as they could, praying that the worst didn't came to be. That the battle hadn't being lost, that they hadn't failed, but above all things that their friends and partners were all safe.
When they reached the clearing it looked like their worst fears came to be. Their Digimon friends were all on the floor with bruises all over, while BlackWargreymon was down on one knee panting heavily, and BlackMetalGarurumon floating above them staring at the mountain.
Yet when they looked up they were confused to see the temple still in one piece and glowing with a strange blue energy that grew more and more in intensity until it completely engulfed the clearing, forcing everyone to cover their eyes.
"What the hell is happening?!" Killua questioned as he shielded his eyes with his arms.
The light eventually focused again on the temple, where a beam of energy shot towards the stormy clouds. Everyone looked up at the sky, even the two fake Megas, and their eyes widened at what they saw.
Big or long didn't even began to cover the creature that slithered on the sky, with a body completely blue and chains all around its body and spheres floating around it and a head that seemed covered on a helmet and long facial hair on its face.
"What… is that…?" Arukenimon asked from the bushes after knocking down the two restaurant owners.
Something descended from the being's side, a bubble with six people inside of them. Immediately Killua and the Digimon smiled with relief when they saw the Digidestined inside of it, "Guys!"
The bubble descended in front of the spring of water and once it touched the floor it vanished. Killua and the angels ran up to them, Magnaangemon smiling at seeing his partner and friends safe. "Thank the heaves you're safe."
"But what… or who is that?" Angewomon asked, looking up at the dragon.
"The guardian," Kari responded, much to their shock. "The guardian of the temple."
"We were able to free the big guys… Though," Davis trailed off as he looked up at the dragon. "Calling him big is coming up short…"
BlackWargreymon narrowed his eyes at the dragon. "This entity…" He could tell just by looking at it that had a power like none other possessed.
BlackMetalGarurumon snarled at it, floating ever so close to attack it despite their enormous difference in power.
"The two of you who had been born with a cursed dark soul," The dragon spoke with a booming voice, its four eyes managing to look at the two Megas at the same time.
"'Cursed dark soul?' 'Two of you?' You mean me and that beast?!" BlackWargreymon asked, offended to be lumped in with the wolf.
"Do you realize the damage you've cause by destroying the temples holding my brothers?" The dragon asked in an even voice, but one that had undertones of anger.
"I couldn't care less about those temples, as long as I can end the existence of that animal!" BlackWargreymon exclaimed, pointed his gauntlet to the flying wolf.
The wolf ignored him completely, simply snarling and growling at the dragon without showing any fear whatsoever to his presence.
"Do you realize who am I?" The dragon asked, as if talking with toddlers.
"I. Don't. Care!" BlackWargreymon growled, narrowing his eyes.
"I am Azulongmon," The great dragon revealed his name. "One of the Harmonious Guardians of the Digital World, protector of the eastern region of the Digital World, due to the destruction you and this so called 'beast' had caused the harmony of this world has being disrupted. Do you understand what you have done?"
The wolf howled and ignored completely the words of the dragon as he charged forward. "OBJECTIVE. DIE!"
Arukenimon's eyes widened from the bush. "YOU IMBECILE, STOP!"
Without even making a movement or even making contact with BlackMetalGarurumon, Azulongmon released a shockwave against the dark Mega that caused the cracks on his body to grow even further as he was sent crashing towards the forest, pieces of his body falling from his body.
Arukenimon gaped at the show of power, "BlackMetalGarurumon!" She left the battlefield, taking off in the direction where the wolf was sent flying.
BlackWargreymon wasn't happy with this action either. "Do not interfere on my fight!" He growled as he charged towards the dragon.
"Fool," Just like before Azulongmon didn't even do anything, two of the sphere surrounding his body glowed and stopped the dark dragon on his tracks.
"ARGH!" BlackWargreymon felt as if his body was burning for a moment, before looking up at Azulongmon with barely restrained anger.
"Are you not satisfied yet?" He asked the dragon, "Even though you've grown out of the original nature of your existence? An existence created to seal mine and my brothers' powers, an existence that came out of those dark towers that plagued this world and disrupted its balance. You and that creature were born from a hundred of those towers, making you entities born from darkness itself."
"What?!" BlackWargreymon asked, the truth nature of the objects that brought him to life being unknown to him by that point.
"He didn't know what the Control Towers really did, huh?" Davis muttered as he looked up at the conversation between the dragons.
BlackWargreymon clenched his fists in anger. "Then why am I different from other entities, why do I have a heart and why is it plagued by this… pain every time I saw that blasted animal!?" He asked desperately.
"The appearance of your soul is a result of so many energy together, the same could have happened to the other creature you refer to as 'animal' yet something else happened during its creation that prevent him from growing like you did," The guardian explained.
"… That woman said they made sure he wouldn't end up like me. I could have gotten answers out of that beast, I could have had…"
"Someone to accompany you," Azulongmon said, his eyes softening. "Yet that chance was robbed out of you. That emotion you felt was sorrow, sorrow that such a chance got ripped away from you, yet you didn't know how to process that emotion and lashed out in the only way you knew: with violence."
BlackWargreymon was quiet for a few moments before glaring up at the dragon. "You have done the same by attacking him. With your strength, I doubt he survived an attack like that!"
"Indeed, even if I'm not completely in my prime yet I aimed to destroy that creature," The dragon said. "But tell me now, BlackWargreymon, will you continue to walk down the path of anger and destruction due to this, or will you grow out the dark nature related to your origin? The only one who can answer that is yourself."
"…" BlackWargreymon floated down to where the Digidestined were, he turned around to stare at them making their bodies tense by reflect. His eyes landed on Killua, who looked back at him without any trace of fear and then he looked up at the dragon. "You've given me a lot to think about… Thank you."
And with that he walked away. The Digidestined observing him with surprise, "Where are you going?" T.K asked with a light frown.
"There are things I must learn… If I want to live a fool's life," He answered.
His response caused Killua's eyes to widen before softening as he looked at the retreating back of the artificial Digimon.
As the fight finally seemed to be over, the partners of the Digidestined allowed themselves to rest, all of them returning to their In-Training forms due to the waste of energy, the sole exception being Salamon.
Relieved and happy that the struggle for the temples was finally over, the small Digimon jumped over to their partners where they were greeted with open arms. Killua watched the scene with a smile, although he couldn't help the pang of jealously at seeing the couples celebrating together.
"Digidestined!" The booming voice of Azulongmon brought their attention to him. "I am forever grateful for freeing me from the grasp of darkness, after being sealed for millennia by the Dark Masters, as I am grateful to the kids from five years ago for finishing them off once and for all. You live up to the mark left by my partner and his team during the first crisis this world faced ages ago, and in some ways I'd say you surpass them," He said, looking down at Killua. "Anomaly… No, Killua, you've aided two generations of Digidestined and showed more camaraderie for your team that Hisoka did in the past. I'm sad to see the man he has become, but I'm glad you're better than him."
"Thanks, I guess…" Killua said bashfully, scratching the back of his head.
"Then we won right?!" Davis asked eagerly. "With your power everything will go back to normal, right?!"
"I'm afraid it isn't so simple…" Azulongmon answered with a dejected tone. "While great, my power isn't what it used to be, and the balance of the world has already being damage by the presence of those towers and the destruction of my brothers' resting place. I will have to focus my strength in finishing the job of freeing them, open a door for them to be free so we can restore the balance of the world to what it was. But rest easily; it will happen sooner than you think."
"What a relief!" Yolei slumped down, with a big smile on her face.
"Finally our hard work gives result!" Davis grinned broadly. "We gave our all in this!"
"Yeah, you're right Davis," T.K said with a nod. "And it's thanks to you."
"How so?" Killua asked, not out of judgment but genuine curiosity.
"Davis thought of asking the guardian of the temple for help," Kari explained. "If we hadn't gone there then we wouldn't have freed Azulongmon."
"Well shit," Killua smiled and gave a pat on Davis back. "Way to go man, you basically save all of our bacons!"
"Ahahaha, I did, didn't I?" He said, scratching his upper lip.
While everyone laughed at the boy's attitude, Ken remained quiet looking down at the floor in thought. Davis noticed it and looked at the boy. "Hey, why the long face Ichijouji? We won!"
"I know but… I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but there are still problems at large…" He said. "Hisoka, Arukenimon and… The mastermind whoever it is… As long as they're still around, who knows if they might try this again and create more like BlackWargreymon and BlackMetalGarurumon…"
That brought the mood down a bit, with Kari looking at Ken with understanding. 'He must be thinking about himself, worrying that whoever started this madness might create a new Digimon Emperor…'
"I understand your worries, Child of Kindness, Ken Ichijouji," Azulongmon. "And I know that forces of darkness beyond this world lurked around, wanting to steal that which doesn't belong and that much to my sadness Hisoka is allied with them. I do not know what more hardship you will face in the future, but I can tell you have grown through each and every obstacle you faced. It will be cowardly from my part as well as a show of ungratefulness if I didn't offer you a gift as a reward for all your efforts as well as an aid in future battles."
One of the orbs surrounding Azulongmon floated above them and released six beams that connected with the Digivice of the Digidestined. They stared in awe as the symbol of their Crests glowed brighter than ever on the screens before slowly dying out.
"What was that?" Killua asked the dragon.
"Something that will come beneficial to you, once all of you reach your true potential," Azulongmon explained.
"True potential?" Kari questioned. "Like my brother and the others did five years ago? When we reach the Mega level?"
"Precisely, Kari Kamiya," Azulongmon nodded. "Like the generation before you, once you reach the full potential of your traits the Mega level will come to your aid. And with my gift, that potential will bloom into a new level of connection with your partners."
"A new connection?" T.K muttered, looking down at the Digivice.
"Can you please give us a straight answer?!" Killua said in an exasperated tone.
"Like a told BlackWargreymon, you must find those answers by yourselves," The dragon responded.
Killua sighed, knowing best than to try and gain an answer.
"But I can tell you this, Killua Zoldyck… Child of Loyalty," His words called Killua's attention. "Your partner, the lost soul known as Blademon is safe. While still lost in the world of darkness, he hasn't lost its will to live. I'm sure the day will come when the two of you will be reunited."
His words made Killua look down at the floor in thought. So he isn't death yet, that's a relief… He didn't know what could happen to a Digimon that dies on that world, but they might not be able to be reborn just like in the Human World.
"And while I restore the balance of this world, I'll find a way to synchronize this world with your own so you can go back to your home," The dragon told him. "After everything you've done, it's the least I can do."
"I see…" He finally said a small, hopeful smile on his face due the news. "Those are great things to hear."
The Digidestined smiled as well, all of them happy for the news for their leader. They hoped that the day will come where all the bad things that occurred between him and Blademon will stay in the past.
Although they felt conflicted about him returning to his world, it was a good thing sure but… they just hoped it didn't lead to a goodbye.
'It won't come to that…' Kari thought nervously. 'He'll use the gate the same way we use it almost every day…' She reassured herself.
"Digidestined," Their attention went back to Azulongmon. "The battle isn't over yet. I must leave to regain my power and find a way to finally free my brothers. I wish you the best of luck, I believe in all of you."
"You can count on us!" Davis said, giving the dragon a thumbs up.
"Then, until we meet again!" The dragon rose up to the clouds, its giant body slithering until it disappeared into the clouds.
"Until then!"
"Goodbye!"
"See ya!"
Words of departure were shared by the Digidestined as they watched the dragon departure to the skies of the Digital World.
Meanwhile, far from there, Arukenimon walked through the forest, desperately looking for something through the thick woods of bamboo.
"Where are you, where are you…?!" She muttered in fright, searching through leaves and bushes until she bumped into something. "Oh my!"
She found what she was looking for, BlackMetalGarurumon. However he was gravely injured, cracks all over his body and black liquid seeping through his body.
"It… Hurts… Red… Lady…" He rasped out in a whimper.
Arukenimon cringed and then placed a hand on his body. "It's going to be okay, boy… He'll know what to do… I just hope he doesn't kill me…"
She turned to her fighting form and used her tendrils to drag the Mega to the nearest television, where they got absorbed into a flash of light.
"It's not much, but it's what we can offer for all you've done!" Digitamamon said as he served a large stack of Chinese buns to the group.
"Pork Ramen!" Tapirmon chirped in, gesturing to the big stack.
"Thanks for the meal!" They all said as they grabbed at least one of them.
That was the majority, one of them in particular got greedy.
"Killua are you even chowing them?" Kari asked with a sweatdrop as the boy stuffed his mouth with as many buns as possible.
"We haf ta eat ah losh!" The boy replied with his mouth full, before swallowing at the very least two of them at once. "Gah, we have to eat a lot, tonight's training's gotta be intense."
"Woah, woah, woah! What do ya mean training?!" Davis asked. "Don't we get a free day from winning on defending the last temple?!"
"Remember what Azulongmon said? We've still job to do, so no slacking up mister," Killua told him in a mock scolding tone, while wagging a finger on him. "Aaaand since you haven't unlocked your Crest yet, maybe you'll need a bit more training out of everyone!"
"Awww men!" Davis slumped as he grabbed a random bun on the pile.
"Hey Davis let that one go!" Yolei said as she grabbed his arm.
"EH?! WHY, THERE'S A LOT!" The boy complained as he tried to pry his hand free from the girl's grip.
"BUT THAT ONE SEEMS REALLY FULL I WANT IT!" She complied as she grabbed one of his cheeks.
"BACK. OFF!" He gritted out as he tried to push her away.
Killua let out a snort as he watched the two, when a coughing caught his attention. His eyes widened when he looked at Kari with her cheeks bulged and hitting her chest, and Salamon helping her by handing her a glass of water, "K-Kari?"
She gulped down the water and gave him a sheepish smile. "Y-You are right about the training thing. So, why not follow your example."
"Because if you do you'll choke again?" Salamon asked in an exasperated tone.
"Then how about we see who can eat the most?" Killua asked with a challenging grin.
Kari blinked and smiled with a nod. "Sure!"
"Don't encourage her!" Salamon scolded the boy, though it fell in deaf ears.
Ken watched from the other side of the table as Kari and Killua competed against each other, though the boy seemed to slow down when Kari had to get water to run down the food, and he watched Yolei and Davis fight over a particular bun even though he kept offering her a larger pile of them, and to the side Cody was the most normal out of the table blowing off the steam of his own bun while sharing it with Upamon.
"Here, Ken," T.K said, making him turn to see him offering a bun. "With how they are handling things we might not be able to eat as much as we want," He said with an amused smile.
Ken returned the smile and grabbed the bun. "Thank you."
He split the bun in two and offered it to Minomon, who scarfed it down in an instant. The tiny Digimon looked up at his partner with a bright smile and crumples of dough and meat on his face. "Sharing food with friends is amazing, right Ken?"
Ken looked over at the table. After awakening from the nightmare that was being the Emperor, he never expected to be surrounded by those he once called enemies this way, that he could handle anything the woman in red threw by himself. And he was glad that he was wrong.
"Yes, yes it is," He replied his partner with a smile.
When the light died down, Arukenimon was back on the home of her master, for the first time bringing the injured wolf with her.
"And there she is, my beloved second in command."
The voice of her master made her look up, her eyes widening when she saw two other people with her, a man and a woman. For a moment fear gripped her heart at the thought that they might be replacements after failing on destroying the last temple, but it vanished when her master helped her to her feet.
"Welcome back, Arukenimon. You've certainly had a long day, huh?" Oikawa asked with a smile.
"Master… The temple…"
"Don't worry about it," He told her. "Even if Azulongmon is awake, once the plan is complete there's nothing he could do to stop me, especially since he couldn't even finish one half of the weapon when it was already weakened."
"It… hurts…" The wolf whimpered in pain.
"My, my, seems the influence of the seed has weakened. Don't matter, by this point he is a loyal little dog anyways," He said, crouching to pat him. "To heal his wounds we're going to need a lot of negative energy."
"Ahem!"
"Oh right, where are my manners?" Oikawa mused as he looked at his two guests. "Arukenimon, this is Hisoka, the previous Anomaly and his friend Maki Himegawa."
"Previous Anomaly?!" The woman questioned with a hint of fear.
"So it was true then," Hisoka mused as he observed the screen where the woman came from.
"You created the artificial gate to the Digital World," Maki muttered, observing the program with fascination. "It took the power of an entity to take us there the first time."
"What can I say, the knowledge of it came to me since I've always believed on the existence of this world," He explained, his eyes flashing blue for an instance. "Now as I see it I could find the way to connect it back to your world to send you back… but if your 'contractor' brought you here once then he'll do it again. So the target is clear."
"To take that girl Kari, The Child of Light," Hisoka summarized.
"And I think of a way to do it that can benefit the two of us," Oikawa said. "After all, I have my own connections to the world that brought you here…" Oikawa walked to a drawer where he drew out a Digivice with a design different from the one Hisoka and Maki knew. "It is time to prepare for face two of the plan. I'll give you the opening you need to get that child, while you help me on securing a rogue element from my plans."
Hisoka considered his words. If he wished he could locate the child himself, deal with any obstacles on the way and be on his way, after all as talented Killua could be he wasn't on his level—not yet anyways. But another part of him was intrigued to see how this could play out, what this man had in mind. And after all, his 'contractor' said he would be sent to the exact moment where he was dragged her, call him too trusting but there was no reason to doubt its word now. That means he has plenty of time to see how this will play out and the chance to see these children with Mega level partners that ultimately destroyed the Dark Masters…
Fascinating~
"Very well…" Hisoka said, grinning broadly. "As long as you keep your world and allow me to go back to my word, and let Maki reenter the Digital World we'll help you out."
"Splendid," Oikawa smile widened, he turned to Arukenimon with a sinister look on his eyes, "Time to move to the next face, and to find a way to drag the Child of Light out."
The thought of plotting against the Chosen of Light specifically brought him enormous pleasure.
All of it a result of the emotions of the owner of the boisterous laughter in his mind, the one who gave him the means to soon fulfill his dreams, soon he will pay him back, soon they will both get what they want.
"You're doing well Oikawa~" The voice purred on his mind.
He grinned. 'Soon sir, soon our ambitions will come true.'
"I don't know about you guys, but I think I like the Digitamamon on the east better than the one on the west," Davis said, hands folded behind his head. "This one accepted yen and even gave us a few for us to take home!"
"As if you needed any more you glutton," Yolei muttered sulkily.
"Are you still on about that?!" Davis huffed.
"When it comes to food I keep terrible grudges," She seethed. Both glared at each other before scoffing and turning away.
However, when Davis turned around his eyes widened before he blinked and scrubbed his eyes. "Huh…?"
"Something wrong Davis?" Killua asked from behind as he observed the boy.
"I thought I saw…" He started before releasing a small burp. "Urp! Sorry!"
"You are disgusting! That's what happens when you eat so much!" Yolei snapped back at him.
"OI SPARKY EAT WAY MORE THAN ME!"
"LEAVE ME OUT OF THIS!"
Davis huffed again and looked to the side, yet frowned as he looked at the horizon. He must be really tired after today and all the food he ate at the restaurant.
There's no way a Control Tower was in their world… right?
A/N: Temples' arc? Done.
Finally!
This episode in the show explained the function of the towers and the Armor Evolution, yet I've already explained those in the past so the dialogue might be different.
I've set many elements that will come on the next arc.
Its name? The Dark World Arc.
I'll uptade A Fallen Knight after this, seeing as many people are asking for it, so be a bit patient.
Fav and Review!
