Disclaimer: I would have escaped my country with loads of money if I owned series like these two.
Review time!
Zero Fullbuster: Thanks dude.
975894247: I… already showed that their feelings are mutual, that won't be possible.
Wickerstein: To have iconography doesn't confirm anything about it, and on Greed Island they mention new year has passed and Gon, who had the most 'normal' life, didn't mentioned Christmas or anything like that like the excitable child he is. So yeah, it might exist but on a different context like you said.
When I saw this chapter when I was a kid, I HEARD Tai's heart breaking when he shoved Sora to Matt's arms. My man deserved better, and he got it here! And since both Mimi and Matt are a popular couple I said "Hey, why not?"
Axel771: Hi me from the past! The problem's solve, so chill.
Felipe1402XZA: Glad that you are happy with them.
Freedom89justice: es otro pararelismo que queria poner entre Hisoka y Killua. Eres alguien muy perceptivo mi amigo.
"As you can see these towers had popped out of nowhere in different part of the globe, most of them closer to important monuments where they can be easily spotted," The T-V showed an image of the Liberty Statue, the sphinx, the and many, many other places on different countries. "These are the more outstanding examples, but they are located throughout the cities. Just here in Tokyo they are located in the following districts: Shibuya, Odaiba, Tamachi, Hikarigaoka, Shinjuku…"
Killua watched the TV intently, both Kamiya siblings and their partners watching with him the news as they tried to wrap their minds around what was happening. Just from their window they could see various towers on the streets, and who knows what else could be happening in the moment.
"Why is this happening…" He turned to see Kari muttering to herself, her fists tightening on her fists on her lap.
The phone on the living room started ringing and Tai walked to pick it up. "Hello?"
As he spoke to whoever it was in the other side, Kari and Killua continued to watch with rapped attention.
"Experts had tried to investigate this strange phenomenon, but any attempt of analyzing the towers had just fried their equipment," The man on the TV continued to narrated. "We are now moving live with one of our reporters on the field. Aoi?"
"Thank you Shuuji," A woman dressed with a blue scarf and a brown coat said, holding a microphone. "We are currently on the scene, after many tries and failures we have determined a safe distance where our camera doesn't get affected. As you can see the tower is currently inoffensive, aside from being a big obstacle in the way." The camera zoomed in to the base of the tower. "As you can see, even though it popped out of nowhere, the floor around it doesn't suffer any damage. It's as if it was one with the floor, so it didn't come from underground as many theorize, which makes its appearance even more of a mystery—"
"Hey, l-look!" The cameraman shouted as the tower started giving off an eerie red glow.
"What the—?! E-Everyone! As you can see the tower has now started to glow of a red color," the woman said as she took a step back. Mist started to seep out of it. "M-Mist is starting to come out of it" She informed as she took a step back. "Everyone, we'll have to retire from the scene, if the testimonies are true then, as ludicrous as it sounds, monster might start appearing at any moment—"
"Oh shit!" They turned to see how from the monsters started to crawl from the mist, before twisting and changing. The two reporters didn't waste any more time and turned tail to flee from the scene while a 'Stand By' screen took over the TV.
"I've seen enough," Killua said, turning off the TV. "This is like last night. Those things from the ocean are crossing over and taking the appearances of Digimon to attack."
Kari bit her lip. "Because of me…" She whispered.
Killua frowned. There was no denying that, since the beginning that world and their inhabitants had being fixated on her for one reason or another, and now they were taking steps to do it. "They must be taking advantage of the destruction of the temple; they didn't waste any time possibly because they know the boundaries will go back to normal with Azulongmon on the case."
"Okay, see ya there…" Tai hung up and walked to the two sitting on the couch. "That was Izzy; he wants us to meet up on his house. All of us."
"Might be hard…" Killua muttered, looking out of the window. "Those things are starting to stalk the streets."
Kari frowned. "I hope mom and dad are okay…" The sibling's parents had gone for groceries and work respectively.
"We'll protect you if anything happens!" Koromon said, jumping out to Tai's arms.
"And Kari and Killua are Nen users," Gatomon said, climbing to her partner's lap. "There is no way for those things to actually stop us on our way there."
Killua nodded. "Okay then, then in case Izzy hasn't reached them I'll text the others so they know what to do," He said, taking out his Terminal to start typing.
While Tai and Killua seemed secure about what to do, Kari found herself lost. This, all this, was reminding her of five years ago, the mist, monsters lurking the streets looking for her, people suffering because of that, because of her…
She shook her head. 'No… I can't think like that, I can't!' She told herself. 'It's not the same; I'm not the same…' This is why she wanted to learn to be a Nen user in the first place.
Killua for his part closed the terminal and resisted the urged to sigh. It was just one thing after another, when they thought a problem was solved another appeared. He supposed it was the same during the first time, but at least back then he had the blissful ignorance of not knowing how much time had passed on his world, but now he knows it's been a month since he and his sisters had been apart. And if this kept happening who knows how long it'll take for him to finally go home.
'I have to keep focus for now…' He told himself, his hand clenching and unclenching with anxiety. His eyes turning to Kari, who seemed even more anxious than him, 'No time to step back right now, I won't let anything happen to her or any of them.'
And if this things keep coming then a part of him thought that maybe, just maybe, he could get any clue about his missing partner. But that would have to wait for now. Getting to the bottom of this was the priority.
And another part of him feared that with this creatures acting up, a certain jester would appear again.
The streets were totally empty, compared to the chaos they've been expecting. People probably holed themselves on their homes out of fear of what might happen after the transmission showing the creatures coming out of the mist.
This made their way to Izzy's home far easier than they expected, and in the way their faces lit up when they met with one of their friends, "Hey, Davis!" Tai called out.
Davis seemed to be running towards them, but the moment he saw them his face lit up in surprise. "Oh, hey guys."
Killua raised an eyebrow at him. "What were you doing?" He questioned. "Izzy's house is that way you know?" He said, pointing to the opposite direction from where Davis came running.
Davis nodded, a solemn look on his face. "Yeah, I know. But I'm not going to Izzy's place. Not yet anyway."
Tai raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean you ain't going yet?"
Davis grip on Demiveemon's body tightened. "I need to go to Tamachi to make sure Ken's okay. That news report, I'm sure those things started appearing there."
"Are you sure this is the right time?" Gatomon asked. "Ken has Wormmon and his Nen abilities; he could deal with those entities if it gets rough."
"I know, but I have to make sure!" Davis insisted. "Yesterday Ultimates appeared all around, that might be too much for him alone," He sighed. "I'm going guys, if something happens to him then I won't forgive myself. You don't have to come with me, but I'll go make sure he has some back-up."
Instead of finding resistance to it, he received supporting nods from all three of them. "Okay then, go," Killua told him with a smile.
"Do make sure that nothing bad happens there," Tai told him. "And keep us in contact in case things get hairy."
"And be safe," Kari added. "And make sure Ken stays safe too."
Davis let out a sigh of relief at hearing the support of all three of them, feeling a weight lifting off his shoulders. "Okay then, please excuse me for the others. I'll be back with Ken to catch up to what you have to tell us!"
"Will do. Word of advice though, you might want to use Raidramon to get there faster," Killua told him.
Davis nodded and ran to a nearby alley where the whisper of 'Digimental Up' came from, a bolt of lightning shot out from it and skipped through the roofs of the buildings, heading with direction towards Tamachi.
"Y'know, maybe we were wrong about last night," Tai said, scratching the back of his head. "Maybe Davis did grow a little bit."
"One of the quirks of the job," Killua said. "Let's leave this on their hands for now, let's see what Izzy has to say."
The siblings and their partners nodded, any information their resident genius had for them could turn this situation for the best or at least they hoped.
At the top of some of the tallest mountains of the Digital World, Gennai bowed his head in front of the ginormous form of Azulongmon. The dragon had a frown of his face as he looked up to the sky. "The forces of darkness are not leaving us time to rest. If they continue to expand, my powers will weaken and I will not be able to awaken my brothers…"
"The forces of the human world had tried to search for information about the invasion Myotismon unleashed five years ago," Gennai told him with his head still bowed in respect. "But I managed to keep that information out of their reach during this whole time. As much as I understand their desire to protect their world, to attack them recklessly could only bring further damage to their world's integrity."
"Indeed," Azulongmon said, as one of the orbs floating around his body became detached. "This task is one only our Digidestined can handle, yet I'm afraid that this problem will not be stopped unless is attacked from the root."
Gennai frowned as he held the orb, "To go to that place… especially considering that places fixation on the Child of Light."
A loud rumble resonated throughout the mountains, and Gennai had to look up to see that it was caused from Azulongmon's laughter. "Gennai, old friend, you should have more faith on the children and their partners after they managed to do what not even me and my brothers weren't able to do ages ago: Put an end to the Dark Masters and their master Apocalymon. Even if the ruler of that world has grown powerful over the years, I'm sure they'll be up to the task."
He smiled, barely noticeable through all the hair around his face and the enormous mask over his face. "They'll have this new gift I'm giving them, and the one that lays dormant on their Digivices." His eyes softened and became more solemn as he looks down at the Digital Human. "And besides, one of them is already fighting against their forces day and night. This might finally be the chance for those who shine with Loyalty to finally release their potential."
Gennai nodded, feeling a bit of sorrow and regret on his heart for failing that poor soul and leaving it be corrupted by the darkness. He just hoped that it wasn't too late for him to be saved, to both figuratively and literally be pulled from the clutches of the shadows.
"Now go. Aid our Digidestined in protecting their world, it is the least we can do after they've done the same for us," The great dragon ordered, "And once they're both safe, give young Killua the good news, that the time has come for him to go back where he belongs."
The Digital Human nodded and with great agility he started leaping down from mountain to mountain, heading towards the nearest port to contact with the Digidestined. On his hand was quite literally the turning point of this battle.
As it turns out the Kamiya siblings plus Killua were the first ones to arrive to Izzy's home. The redheaded genius giving them a short nod of acknowledgement as he worked on his computer, "Hi guys…" He told them, his eyes not tearing away from the computer.
"Hey," Tai said, removing his jacket and leaning over his shoulder to check what he was doing. "What have you found?"
"I'd prefer to wait until the others arrive," Izzy said as he typed down, sweat falling from his head, his whole body tense. "But I can already tell you, it doesn't seem good."
Killua crossed his arms and frowned. "That isn't anything new, have you watched the news?"
"News?" Izzy muttered, momentarily tearing away his eyes from the screen to give them a quizzical look. "What about them?"
Kari gripped her arm, while a frown covered her features. "Better to wait for the others, in case they don't know about what happened either," Considering how Davis already knew and was dead-set on going to Tamachi to help Ken she doubted it was the case, but it didn't hurt to be sure of it.
They didn't really have to wait long for their friends to arrive. Sora and Joe arrived moments later, partners on their arms, while the younger group arrived after them with Matt and Mimi with them. The older of the blonde brothers giving them a worried look, "What do we know about these things? Both mom and dad work for the news, and according to what I saw, things are really messed up!"
"What's that about the news?!" Izzy asked, suddenly feeling out of the loop about what was happening.
"You haven't seen them, Izzy?" Yolei asked, wringing her hands together.
Tentomon shook his head. "We saw them early today, that's how we know they're all around, but immediately Izzy dived into his computer so he could try and trace their source, something that can tell us how they appeared out of nowhere, and more importantly who?"
"Wasn't it Arukenimon?" Palmon asked, tilting her head. "Ken said she can jump between worlds, like you guys."
"Then why not do it before?" Killua questioned. "Heck why use Ken in the first place if she can jump between worlds like anyone with a D-3 can? No… I think the master mind is the one to plant the Control Towers, he just didn't do it on the Digital World since, from what Ken has been able to remember the guy's an adult."
"And adults can't get into the Digital World," Izzy finished for him. "That's why I've been trying to find something, anything, on their readings that can help me pinpoint some origin, that might clue us on where this master is and who he is."
"With all the things that have been happening, I forgot that our true opponent is actually a human…" Cody said with a frown. "And he's not someone like the Digimon Emperor; he is doing this on his own free will."
That gave anyone an actual pause. With the constant threats of Arukenimon, the fake Digimon, both from the towers and the creatures of the ocean, the thought that a human pulled the strings was something completely new, and a Nen user at that. That did brought more questions to the table that would have to be answered some other time.
"Back to the topic at hand," T.K said, gesturing everyone to walk to the living room, where Izzy's mom continued to watch the news, the blonde's face growing grim as he observed the screen. "Look…"
The news report showed an aerial point of view, as the same reporter the Kamiya siblings plus Killua sat on the door of the helicopter—those who watched the early footage feeling grateful she survived. "As you can see other towers around Tokyo had also started emitting the same red light as the one on Tamachi this morning, all of them seeping mist from their base. For the moment, there is no sight of those creatures we saw this morning, but there's not guarantee more won't start appearing sooner or later. According to reports we've received on a worldwide scale, the towers around the rest of the world remain inactive, without showing any sign of monsters either. The questions here are: How long until they activate, and how long until more monsters start appearing here on Tokyo, Japan, or the rest of the world? I'm Aoi Shibuya, back to the studio."
Once the scope of the situation settled on the red head, he visibly paled and gulped. "Oh… so that's it…"
"Man, we sure missed a lot!" Tentomon buzzed nervously.
Kae looked at her son and friends with a worried frown. "Izzy, this is like five years ago, isn't it?"
Izzy sighed and nodded. "I'm afraid so… but it's okay, we'll find a way to solve it like back then," He tried to reassure her, although she didn't seem all that calm at the prospect.
At the words of the woman, Kari bit her lips. She tried to push down any feelings of guilt that came to her mind over what was happening, but it seemed hard when the situation was almost a copy-paste of it, and that it could somehow get even worse than before.
"Tamachi was the first to be affected…" Yolei muttered. "What about Ken?"
"Davis went to make sure he was okay," Killua told her. "I told him to send us a message if he needed help…" He frowned as he looked at the T.V, even though the screen showed the studio, they still kept a live footage of all the places were mist was starting to appear. "But if more of them start to appear then we'll have to move to those places, and get rid of those things before they damage something."
"The towers are also in populated areas," Joe pointed out. "To just strike them down could cause damage."
Gomamon huffed. "Not to mention that we can't evolve with them around."
Izzy looked at Tentomon. "Can you stay here with mom and keep us to date in case something changes?"
"Will do!" Tentomon saluted.
Izzy turned to the others. "I want to continue on researching, if I can find anything then it might help us stop them before they become a bigger problem."
The group nodded and walked back to the room, while Tentomon sat on the couch to keep up with the news.
Terror covered the streets of Tamachi, as monsters ran rampant across its mist covered streets. The police set a perimeter to keep them from getting away, and they stood to face the creatures terrorizing the district.
"Fire!" The lead police ordered as all the squads fired at the three giant monsters walking towards them. Monsters taking the form of an Airdramon, Tyrannomon, and a Devidramon stalked towards them. Behind the monstrous trio was the Control Tower, guarded by them.
The Devidramon opened his mouth and launched a blast from its mouth, forcing the officers to retreat and take cover, or else they'd be incinerated.
"We're gonna need back up!" The police sergeant said. "Is the army coming, the National Guard?!"
"It's gonna be an hour before they arrive!" One of the cops told him frantically as they all ducked behind some alleys to get away from the sight of the monster.
"An hour?!" The sergeant hissed as he looked at the monsters getting closer and closer. "Don't they know what it's happening here?!"
"Do we…?" The other police whimpered.
From behind the monsters, Ken poked his head from behind an alleyway. He'd managed to slip from his house wearing a hoodie and a face mask to avoid calling attention, last thing he needed was the face of the former genius boy on a newspaper while fighting monsters.
He looked down at Wormmon and raised his Digivice. "Ready?"
"I've been ready two blocks away, but I can't!" Wormmon exclaimed, much to the surprise of his partner. "Ken, I'm sorry…"
"No, it's not your fault," Ken told him. He poked his out head and looked at the other end of the street, where the tower rests. "I wanted to engage them to put those officers safe, but we'll have to take on the tower first."
Ken sighed and focused his Nen, summoning a book. When he flipped through them, he almost cursed. 'I'm running out of pages… I'll have to Conjure a new one after this is over.' Nen doesn't create anything beyond impossible, so a book with infinite pages was a no go, Sochi had a great number of pages so it always came through when Ken needed it, but it seem its time was running out.
Luckily, he won't have to rely solely on his ability this time. A figure leaped on the rooftops on the buildings in front of him, heading towards the tower, a figure he recognized immediately, "Raidramon?!"
The armored Digimon and his partner mounting on his back ran full speed towards the tower. Its horn glowed and crackled with electricity as they got near it. "Lightning Blade!"
With an electrical blast in the form of an edge, the tower was cut in half, toppling over and falling into the streets before crumbling into more pieces.
The three monsters that were walking down the street stopped and turned around. Once they saw the tower destroyed they growled and snarled, starting to walk towards the one responsible.
"There we go!" Davis cheered as he grinned at the fallen tower.
"Davis!" Ken ran out of his hideout, followed by Wormmon, running to meet up with his friend.
Davis turned and once he saw Ken he let out a sigh of relief. "Ken, you okay man?!" Then he tilted his head. "What's with the incognito mode?"
"For safety," He responded as he stopped in front of him. "I'd recommend the same for you, there's officers covering almost every street."
Davis face-palmed, "Dang, if my parents see me riding Raidramon they're gonna flip…"
"What are they gonna flip?" Raidramon asked with a tilt of his head.
"I think we have bigger problems over Davis' parents flipping something! Look!" Wormmon said as he pointed to the monsters now coming towards them.
They all roared in unison, before their forms shifted to those muddy forms of theirs. They grew closer to each other and merged as one, this new body shifting and bulging into a new form that slowly started to resemble a bipedal triceratops, a Digimon known as Triceramon. This newly formed monster gave a roar towards the two bodies and charged at them.
"No time to waste! Wormmon!" Ken said as he raised his Digivice.
Raidramon reverted back to V-Mon and Davis raised his Digivice too. "V-Mon!"
"Wormmon Digivolves to… Stigmon!"
"V-Mon Digivolves to… Exveemon!"
The two Champions flew over Triceramon's back. Stigmon's stinger glowed up and extended, "Stinger Attack!" He dived down, aiming for the back of the monster, yet his attack bounced off when it met with the resistant hide of the dinosaur.
Triceramon turned back and head-butted the insectoid with enough strength to send him crashing into a building.
"Stigmon!" Exveemon called in worry, he turned back to the monster and flew in front of him. "If your armor is so tough then how about the front. X-Laser!"
The beam was released from Exveemon's chest and flew straight towards the dinosaur. Who crossed his arms in front of him and received the attack, resulting in him receiving no damage at all. With an intimidating roar it charged at Exveemon, who didn't have time to react when his face got grabbed and he got dragged across the walls of the surrounding buildings in a painful manner.
"Exveemon!" Davis called, getting ready to act. "Damn it, time to jump into the fray!"
"Wait, Davis!" Ken said, holding his shoulder. "As much as I want to help, their attacks bounced off its armor, so I doubt your Fire Tornado can do much. And my arsenal of weapons is running low, so I don't have much to help with."
Davis gritted his teeth and turned back into the battle. "Then what can we do?!"
"For now, leave it to Stigmon…" Ken told him, raising his Digivice.
Stigmon recovered after the blow he received and his whole body started glowing.
"Stigmon Ultra Digivolves to… JewelBeemon!"
Inside of a building on the surroundings of Odaiba, the ones responsible for the chaos that has engulfed the district watched everything happen with their whole attention on the battle occurring on the streets.
Arukenimon lowered her binoculars and clicked her teeth. "It seems only one of them has come to aid our former Emperor."
"With all the towers around the world, they must be planning about what to do," Maki said, sitting on a table of the building as she kept her arms pressed. "And from what my boss told me, all information about the Odaiba fog has disappeared from the databases. A convenient time for that to happen, ain't it?" She asks, looking at the pale man looking out the window.
"It wasn't my work, I can assure you," Oikawa said, waving a dismissive hand. "It seems someone wants to keep the Digital World a secret… not that it will matter in the end," he chuckled.
Hisoka shuffled his cards on one corner of the room; his yellow eyes boring on the back of Oikawa's head, making the man chuckled. "There's no need to glare, Hisoka. I'm a man of my word. Today, you may run free to fulfill your goal and go back home."
"Call me skeptical," Hisoka said, pulling out a joker card. "But I am sensing a 'but' on that phrase."
"If it was for me, there wouldn't be," Oikawa told him with sincerity. "However, I've come in contact with an individual on our side that insists on working for you."
Maki raised an eyebrow at him. "How come we didn't know of this?"
Oikawa gave her a side-glance. "I wasn't aware I had to tell you anything. Furthermore, he just came in contact with me, right before our towers rose from the ground."
"And who is this 'he'?" Hisoka asked, walking to lean on the table where Maki was seated.
"That would be me…" A cold voice echoed through the room.
The lights of the room flickered, and something appeared in the room. In the middle of the room was a dark circle made of shadows. From it a figure started rising, it was tall, taller than any of the presents in the room, two heads taller than Hisoka and Oikawa. At first its appearance was like water, showing its nature as a Deadmon, and then it shifted and showed its true appearance: Tall, with fur covering their bodies, small wings on the back of its back, and a head resembling a goat.
"Allow me to present myself," The Deadmon said, on a deep and cold tone. "I am Mephismon. One of Lord Dagomon's top creation, created for the sake of this mission, a member of the Daemon Corps…"
He turned and walked towards Hisoka, who didn't looked intimidated in the slightest at the towering figure looking down on him. "I've been sent to aid you in the quest of finding and retrieving the Child of Light, as well as stop any attempts of the Anomaly or the rest of the Digidestined to stop you."
Hisoka tilted his head at him. "Daemon Corps… I don't recall him mentioning any of that."
"Our formation was a recent event," Mephismon explained him. "Lord Dagomon built us to be his most effective creations, we were made to deal with any obstacles the Digidestined might present, and to make sure that once the Child of Light is sent to our world… they do not follow her, ever."
They were basically made to exterminate the Digidestined to prevent them from rescuing the girl once she's kidnapped. That's the gist it from what Hisoka understood.
"So you are going to help me… is the 'master' doubting my ability?" Hisoka asked, a smirk forming on his face.
"This is all for the sake of fulfilling our lord's ambition," Mephismon explained, "The more agents in the operation, the more probabilities of success."
Maki frowned. "Always on and on about the girl, but why does your master want her so badly?"
Mephismon turned to look at her, giving her a blank stare, but without responding. Maki looked back, but she was clearly unnerved by the creature.
"She does make a fair question," Hisoka told the Deadmon.
"The master wants the girl for her affinity with the forces of light on the Digital World," He explained. "He wishes to give said power to our world, bringing it to a new age of glory."
"So he's in a certain way doing for its kingdom?" Hisoka asked. "My, my, I didn't know he was such a diligent monarch."
"Indeed," Mephismon said. "My brethren shall come in due time, our Lord sent me first to test the ability of our opponents, or even to annihilate them in a single strike."
Arukenimon chuckled, as she continued to watch the fight that was taking place a few streets away from their position. "That might not even be necessary considering how one of their companions is struggling with a Deadmon weaker than yourself."
"All of us work for the same objective, any victory we achieve will benefit our lord," Mephismon said. "More shall start appearing on this area where the Child of Light resides. She will have nowhere to go."
"Well then," Hisoka said, pushing himself of the table. "Shall we go?"
Mephismon didn't give a verbal reply, instead sinking on the shadows again and vanishing from the room.
"I'll go with you," Maki said as she sat up with a sigh. "Those children possess a different type of Digivice that is worth studying. I hope I can get my hand in one of them."
Hisoka raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure it'll be okay? You haven't felt well these days."
Maki scowled and shook his head. "Don't worry about it, I'm fine."
Hisoka shrugged, "If you say so."
The two left, leaving only Arukenimon and Oikawa to continue observing the events occurring on Tamachi.
JewelBeemon's spear clashed with Triceramon's armored head sparks flying as the two battled for supremacy on strength.
Exveemon flew behind the dinosaur and landed behind it and grabbed its tail, with all of his strength he lifted the body of the dinosaur over his head and slammed it into the floor, face up.
Exveemon turned to his Ultimate friend, "Now, JewelBeemon! His stomach isn't armored!"
"Got it!" JewelBeemon flew above the two's heads and aimed his spear at the exposed stomach of the monster, "Spike Buster!"
The spear descended at full speed towards the monster, who growled in defiance while its eyes flashed red. Black flames licked its mouth before being released in the form of a torrent of fire.
JewelBeemon's eyes widened in surprise and alarm, stopping his charge and crossing his arms over his body to prevent serious injuries from the flames, "Ughh…"
"JewelBeemon!" Exveemon yelled in worry, only for him to also receive a blast of fire that sent him flying back to the streets, its back bouncing on the concrete and leaving various cracks on the floor.
"Exveemon!" From the alley where they observed the fight, Davis watched in worry as his partner got taken down with one blast.
Ken clicked his teeth. "Enough is enough," he handed Davis a mask like the one he was wearing and summoned Sochi. "Here, we have to help them or at the very least, distract that thing!"
Davis put on the mast, hoping that his hair wouldn't stand out so much to be recognized by any people that might appear on the area, and together with Ken left their hideout to aid their partners in what they could.
Triceramon used his head to block a thrust from JewelBeemon's spear, the emerald knight trying to find any weak spots he could exploit to finish his opponent, but the natural armor this fake Digimon possessed made it almost impossible.
And things got worse when it started expelling that black fire from its mouth, forcing JewelBeemon to maintain his distance when his strongest fort was close combat. At this rate the fight was going to go on for a long time.
"Fire Tornado!" Various spheres of Nen impacted against the back of the monster, making it growl and turn to glare at the one responsible.
Davis landed on one knee, cursing the lack of effectiveness of his attack, while Ken summoned a Calico gun and started firing. But for all the good it did, Triceramon might as well being hit by pebbles instead of bullets.
The monster roared and aimed to charge at them, but JewelBeemon grabbed its tail and threw him to the other side of the road where a recovered Exveemon crossed his arms over his chest.
"X-Laser!" Before the attack impacted him, Triceramon coiled itself into a ball, the attack doing zero damage to him and its body charging at full speed towards him.
The blue dragon moved to the side and the dinosaur landed on the other side of the street, where it bounced right back at its feet. It straightened itself and glared at both couples of partners with a look of pure fury, its red eyes glowing brighter than ever, the black flames licking around its mouths with more intensity than ever before.
"What is it doing?" Exveemon asked, keeping his guard up.
JewelBeemon gave a sigh, but never put down his spear. "I don't know. It's not worse than BlackWargreymon or BlackMetalGarurumon, but it's stronger than other of the fake Ultimates created by Control Towers."
Triceramon opened its mouth, and unleashed a fire blast so big that it covered the entire street. The windows of the buildings around them shattered by the heat, and the pavement of the streets were melted away on its way towards its enemies.
Davis and Ken gasped at the immensity of the attack, while Exveemon and JewelBeemon braced themselves.
"X-Laser!"
"Spiker Buster!"
The laser was fired and JewelBeemon thrusts his spear forwards, liberating a shockwave from the tip of it. Both of them fighting to repel the attack and protect their partners from its power.
The collision of the three forces was enough to cause a detonation, an explosion took place that sent both factions falling, and covering the entire street in smoke. Not even Triceramon was exempt from this as it was sent flying various meters, bouncing on the pavements of the street.
Exveemon and JewelBeemon turned their bodies and protected their partners from the blast, and from the impacts of their body on their ground, only the knowledge that the fight wasn't over keeping them from relaxing and reverting to their normal forms.
From the edges of the district, the police forces watched the explosion taking place, the sergeant in charge of the operation watching everything with wide eyes while adjusting his cap, "What in the blazes is going on here, and where are those reinforcements?!"
"Sir!" One of his officers said as he checked the radio. "We have a situation…"
"What now?!" The sergeant groaned as he turned to look at the officer.
"W-Well…" He took out a portable T.V and showed the news channel to the sergeant.
As he watched the channel, the man's eyes widened and his face paled. His teeth clenched in fear and anger as he saw the screen and then back at the smoke covered street. "May God have mercy on us… this is worse than that fog on Odaiba five years ago."
As for now it was only in Tokyo, but who knows when the towers all around the globe will start acting up. Even if there were some monsters fighting against each other, who knew how much damage they could bring.
"Dang it!" Izzy cursed as he closed various tabs with data on his computer. "Nothing, I've seen every records of the maps around the world, around the time where the towers appeared, but I can't find anything about them. All of them just appeared out of nowhere from one second to another, simultaneously, like magic!"
"Considering this is Digital World related, it isn't that far off…" Matt muttered. "No matter how data-based it is, the Digital World also has that magical thing to it."
"I just wonder how the mastermind, a human, could pull something like this," Yolei said. "Even Ken took his time putting towers from place to place."
Killua cupped his fingers. "If we estimate Ken's time being a genius as the same time the mastermind has been lurking in the shadows, plus the kidnapping of Blademon. Then he's been planning all this for the last five years since we beat the Dark Masters, four minimum. That's still quite a feat to pull in that span of time. The guys had to be stinky rich to travel all around the world in that span of time to put the towers there, especially if they were somehow underground until now, which has already being discarded by what the news showed."
Kari frowned. "And how come he knows about that ocean, and the beings that live there? Or how does he know about the Digital World, and Nen?"
"The Digital World part is easy," Gatomon told her. "The whole world saw what happened five years ago, and people in Odaiba still remember what happened five years ago. Although the Nen part…it's the hardest part to understand."
Killua massaged his forehead. Everything about that guy always seemed to hit a roadblock and they didn't even know how he looked like! "Nen can be unlocked through meditation; the aggressive method on you guys is actually the most abnormal one. Although, it's too much coincidence that out of anything that a Nen user on this world can be, this one just so happen to set his eyes on the Digital World."
"So there's nothing new yet then?" Mimi asked as she looked down with a troubled look.
"I'm sorry I couldn't find anything else, guys," Izzy said, leaving out a tired sigh.
"You did what you could, Izzy, don't kick yourself about it," Tai reassured him with a pat on the back.
"Now what then?" Agumon asked.
"Well, we should destroy the towers… but…" Sora trailed off as she looked at the map Izzy had on his map.
"Those many places…" Yolei said. "We can't make our partners fly all that way, we ain't Santa Claus!"
"Can't we use the Digiport to go those places?" Matt asked T.K.
The younger blonde shook his head. "We can only open one gate on each area. We'll have to constantly move from place to place opening gates all around, it'll take too long."
"Heck, taking the ones here in Japan could take us days at best," Joe said. "We'd need something better…"
Before the discussion could continue, a screech came from the living room, "IZZY! WE HAVE PROBLEMS!"
The moment they heard that, only one thought came to their minds, almost in simultaneous: 'What now?!'
Just when everyone was leaving the room, a beeping sound came from Izzy's computer. "Huh?" He turned and saw a message on his desktop. "This is…"
Without noticing the lack of the redhead, the group went to the kitchen, where a frightened Kae and a frantic Tentomon looked at the screen, with Tentomon pointing a shaky paw to the screen. "Look! Look!"
"Breaking news: New monsters had started to appear in the next areas: Odaiba, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ueno, and Hikarigaoka."
Images of those places appeared, in Odaiba four monsters with the appearances of Kuwagamon attacked the Rainbow Bridge, slamming their arms against their streets and keeping the road blocked. On the street of Shinjuku, Ueno, and Shibuya flying Digimon like Gigadramon, Unimon, and Devidramon attacked the buidlings. And on Hikarigaoka were a Parrotmon, a Meramon, and a Boltmon wreaked havoc on the nearby parks.
"These new monsters have been report to appear hours later since the appearance of the monsters on Tamachi. And this brings the question; will more of them appear on all the places where these mysterious towers appeared?" The news reporter asked, keeping his professionalism. "Stay tuned to learn more, we'll keep tabs with this situation for your sake."
"As if our problems weren't bad enough!" Gomamon groaned.
"And we still don't have news of Davis or Ken yet…" Cody said, biting on his thumb in worry.
"What do we do?" Everyone turned to both Tai and Killua, who kept their eyes on the T.V.
Tai crossed his arms in deep thought. "I think we should split and deal with those monsters for now. We can't think of a plan while people out there are suffering because of them."
"I agree," Killua said. "We should split in groups that have at least one armored Digimon, that way they can take on the tower and then leave open the chance for normal evolution.
There was no discussion from the group, all of the kids older and younger knew that the safety of the people came first. Kae couldn't say anything, if this incident was anything like five years ago, then this group was the only capable of doing something about it.
"Guys!" Izzy's voice came from his room. "Come back, this is important!"
"He stayed behind?!" Tentomon fell from the couch in shock, while the group exchanged looks, before going back to the room of the redhead.
The desk drew various curious looks when they saw the monitor of Izzy's computer, and his laptop facing one another. Tentomon walked up to his partner. "Izzy, what is this?! Things just went from bad to worse, more of those fake Digimon appeared."
"Really?!" Izzy looked at his friends for confirmation, receiving nods from all of them. "Then I better hurry with this…"
"And what exactly is this?" Killua asked, feeling the need to hurry to go out there and stop those things.
"You'll see, please give me some space!" He told them firmly.
They all did, giving enough room for Izzy to continue what he was trying to do. With a click from his mouse, both screens lit up and emitted a bright light that met with one another. Everyone ducked and covered their eyes, as a figure formed in between the two beams of light.
Covered in white robe, and with his hood up, the man straightened himself and gave a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Izzy."
"It worked as you said, Gennai," Izzy smiled, as the man took off his hood.
"Gennai?!" The groups asked in surprise at seeing the Digital Human on their world.
"I honestly didn't know if this would work," Gennai said. "It was only a theory, but I'm glad it came through."
Killua gave him a questioning look. "So, what are you doing here? This is hardly the time for a social meeting."
"I know that, it's what I came for…" Gennai frowned as he looked at the group. "Though I notice some of you are absent."
"Davis and Ken are out there, possibly dealing with those creatures," Kari explained.
"I see, then no matter, you can all give them this later," Gennai said as he produced an orb from his robes.
The younger group gasped in recognition, while the older ones looked at the ball with awe and curiosity. "What is that? So pretty!" Mimi said, as she admired the sphere.
"This is one of Lord Azulongmon's twelve Digicores," Gennai explained. "Crystallization of his holy power."
"He already used one of those on our Digivices…" T.K said as he took out his D-3. "But we still don't know what they do…"
"All in due time, my young friends," Gennai said, though he could tell the group fell uneasy by the answer. "You know what this gift does right away; it will be an advantage for you on this invasion. So everyone, please take your Digivices, all of you."
The two generations present raised their Digivices, and Gennai raised the orb. It glowed brightly and covered the entire room in a warm and soothing light.
"Woah… It's like back at the temples!" Patamon marveled, "Or when Magnamon appeared!"
"Poromon Digivolves to… Hawkmon!"
"Upamon Digivolves to… Armadillomon!"
"They evolved!" Yolei gasped, seeing their partners adopt their Rookie forms on the human world.
The Digivices of both groups glowed brightly, their screens lighting up and showing the symbols of their Crest on them. Killua for his part felt something warm on his chest, he pulled out the chain Kari gave him yesterday and saw his Crest glowing inside of it, making him look at the sphere with wonder. 'What is that thing doing with us exactly?' He asked himself, and for the first time he actually looked forward to know the answer.
The smoke cleared, JewelBeemon and Exveemon panted at the exertion they gave to stop the blast launched from Triceramon. The monster didn't look exhausted at all, but smoke came out of his mouth where the flames came from.
"Damn it," Davis cursed under his breath and glared at the monster.
"It's like with the ones born with Control Towers," Ken glared. "It doesn't get tired."
"I call hax, and bullshit on that one!" Davis growled clenching his fists.
"We have to finish this," JewelBeemon panted, raising his spear. "Right, here and right now."
"You don't have to tell me twice," Exveemon said, pumping his fists. "Let's go!"
The two charged against the bipedal triceratops, which in turn roared and charged at them. Exveemon threw a punch, that was easily blocked and his fist got grabbed and he was thrown to a nearby building. JewelBeemon thrusts his spear forward, but it only bounced on the hide of the monster, which parried the spear and grabbed pushed the insect against a building.
"We are not staying here leaving our partners do the job!" Davis said, Ren flaring up. "Are we, Ken?"
Ken flipped through the remaining pages of Sochi, before ripping out a simple revolver gun. "No, we are not!"
"Right!" Both boys dashed forward.
Davis focused Nen on his feet and propelled himself in the air. "Eat shit! Fire Tornado!" He exclaimed as he launched a barrage of Nen spheres at the back of the monster.
They impacted against its back, making the monster growl and turn, but JewelBeemon didn't allow it. He grabbed it by the horns and held it place, "Oh heck no buddy!"
"Good job JewelBeemon, keep him in place!" Ken said, as he took aim. "Davis, keep attacking him on the same place, that much pressure on one point," he fired various bullets at the same place on its back, "must break it at some point!"
"Got it!" Davis said, using another burst of Nen to keep himself in the air, "Fire!" Another ball impacted, "Tor-" another, "-nado!" and another.
Exveemon got back to his feet and saw the effort his partner and Ken were putting, while JewelBeemon kept the rampaging monster in place. He narrowed his eyes and took aim from his spot on the floor, "I ain't staying down letting you do everything, guys!" He said, crossing his arms over his chest. "X-Laser!"
Along with his partner's projectiles and Ken's bullets, the laser from Exveemon was the impact needed to put a crack on the armor of their opponent's seemingly indestructible defense.
This however, only enraged the monster even further. It opened its mouth and let out a fireball against JewelBeemon, not with the strength of the previous ones, but enough to make the Ultimate recoil and release his grip on it. "Ugh!"
Triceramon turned and aimed at the airborne kid, flames licking from its mouth, "Oh s-shit!" Davis cursed, feeling drained from using his Hatsu so many times.
"DAVIS!" All of his friends present yelled, with Exveemon dashing to protect his partner.
'Dang,' Davis could only cross his arms and used Ken to protect himself from the impact. 'This is gonna hurt… Well, at the very least we managed to actually crack this guy. It's something.'
Many things happened in simultaneous. Davis' Digivice and Crest fell from his pocket and started glowing, Exveemon got in between his partner and Triceramon, and the monster launched a black fireball at them.
Digivice and Crest glowed brightly, and a slot opened on the former and the latter entered it, intensifying the glow and bathing Exveemon with it.
The fireball impacted against the glowing Champion, detonating into a cloud of smoke.
But from within, Exveemon's voice resonated.
"Exveemon Ultra Digivolves to…" His already muscular body became even bulkier, his wings grew to giant size and two yellow spheres appeared on his hands, and a spear appeared between his wings, his head grew a helmet-like formation for protection, "Wingdramon!"
The smoke dispelled by a powerful gust of wind. Wingdramon roared with renewed energy, Davis was on his back, wide eyed and blinking at the new form of his partner, "W-Wingdramon?
Wingdramon nodded and turned to smile at Davis. "Sorry for the long wait, Davis!"
Davis grinned. Does his partner just continue to become cooler and cooler with each form?!
"That's V-Mon's Ultra Form…" Ken muttered as he observed the new Digimon.
Triceramon didn't share the awe; it instead opened its mouth and fired several fireballs at them. However, Wingdramon narrowed his eyes, and before everyone's eyes, he blurred out of sight.
Triceramon didn't know what happened, the only thing it knew was the fact that his target disappeared from sight and instead was next to him, glaring at his side and breathing into its neck. "Blaze Sonic Breath!"
From the dragon's mouth a supersonic heat-blast was launched, impacting at point blank against the monster and sending it flying across the street, over Ken's head, who just stared in awe at the attack, "What the-?!"
"I blinked and I missed it…" JewelBeemon said with wide eyes.
Davis blinked too and looked at his partner and then at his surroundings. From his back he actually saw it on slow motion, how they moved from that point in the air to next to their opponent.
'He could give Sparky a run for his money…' He thought in awe.
Triceramon bounced on the streets, before skidding across the pavement with and landing on its back. Wingdramon blurred out of sight and appeared above their opponent exposed stomach. "Explode Sonic Lance!"
Wingdramon dive-bombed towards their enemy at high-speed and used it to catapult the lance on its back. It stabbed the gut of the dinosaur, making it roar in pain, before its form returned to that liquid state that slowly dissipated into particles of black dust.
"And that's game!" Davis grinned as he patted their partners back. "You were amazing buddy!"
Wingdramon smiled. "Thanks Davis… but can we get somewhere to rest… I'm feeling really tired like this."
"Davis!" Ken called his attention as he and JewelBeemon drew closer.
"It's done, Ken," Davis said giving him a thumb up. "And now all of us have Ultra forms. It's time to go to Izzy's."
Ken nodded and JewelBeemon lowered his hand to let him climb in. "Right, here," He ripped another page and handed the item to Davis, a winter cap. "To hide for any cameras that might see us."
Davis grinned. "Thanks, dude."
And with the battle in Tamachi settled and its tower destroyed, the two Ultimates flew in direction to Izzy's home.
"As you can see two monsters are leaving the scene with people on their backs," The reporter said, as a camera filmed from the ground. "Could it be that there's a faction of monsters working with humans? Or are humans capable of taming these monsters?"
The screen of Izzy's computer showed the most recent footage of the news on Tamachi, as everyone saw the new Digimon flying along JewelBeemon, all thanks to Gennai keeping a hand hovering over the monitor to show the news on the computer.
"That was…?" Gatomon muttered in awe.
"Wingdramon, Exveemon's evolved form," Gennai said as he cupped his chin, "And quite frankly the possible solution for our problems with the towers."
"How so?" Tai asked.
"Wingdramon are rumored to be some of the fastest Digimon to ever exist in the ancient times," Gennai explained and looked at Killua. "Considering your abilities, Killua, I dare say they could beat you with your 'Godspeed' technique by a big margin."
"For real?" Killua asked with wide eyes. "Then if V-Mon can use that form for longer then we could get rid of the towers around the world."
"But once he's close the towers will null his evolution," Armadillomon pointed out.
"That was the purpose of the Digicore," Gennai explained. "Now, your Digivices are protected against the nature of the Control Towers, from now on, you will be able to use Digievolution without restrain around them."
"For real?" Kari asked, earning a nod from the man, the news bringing smiles to everyone all around, especially from the older kids.
"Doing so, would help in avoiding the chaos of the Deadmon appearing around the world, posing as Digimon," Gennai said. "It's time for all of the active Digidestined to act together."
"Dead…mon?" T.K questioned. "That's the name of the creatures of the ocean?"
"Yeah… that's right…" Gennai said as his body started glowing.
"Gennai?!" Tai exclaimed in surprise, while everyone gasped. "What's wrong."
"Nothing, but I still have work to do in the Digital World," Gennai explained. "Good luck, Digidestined. I know you can save your world."
The man vanished, leaving the group stunned for a moment.
Tai looked at his Digivice and clenched it. "Well, seems we are back to business," He said with a smile.
"Then we have to decide the groups," Killua said. "So, who wants to go where."
Joe raised his hand. "I want to go to the tower that's on the Rainbow Bridge, if any aquatic Digimon appear then Gomamon and I are the ones for the job."
Cody raised his hand as well. "Armadillomon and I can help as Submarimon, and even then Gogmamon can help in land."
"And I can help in air," Sora offered.
"Ueno for me," Mimi said, raising her hand. "Not any particular reason though, just the first one that came to mind since Odaiba is taken."
"Then I'll go along," Yolei offered. "My sisters' favorite store is there, and I think they'll have a stroke if something happens there."
"I'll go to Shinjuku," Izzy said. "My reason's like Yolei's… there's a store that I like to go to for pieces."
Matt and T.K exchanged looks and nodded. "Shibuya for us," The older blonde said.
"Then that leaves Hikarigaoka for us," Tai said, scratching the back of his head. "Man, come to think of it that's where all started for us."
"Do you want to come, Killua?" Kari asked the white haired boy.
He shrugged. "Any of them works for me," Killua said, grinning a bit.
Kae's voice came to the other side. "Izzy, two more of your friends are here!"
The door of the room appeared and both Ken and Davis came through. "Guys!" The brunette said, holding a tired looking Demiveemon. "You won't believe what just happen!"
At that moment, all of the D-3 started glowing, the kids took them out and they shoot out two beams of lights towards Ken's and Davis' own Digivices. The two boys looking shocked at this turn of events.
Everyone in the room blinked, processing what just happened.
Then Wormmon spoke. "Did we miss something important?"
While Wormmon and Demiveemon happily eat from the lunch Kae did for them, Ken and Davis looked at their friends as they prepared to set out. "Are you sure we have to stay?" Davis asked.
"Just for the moment, Davis," Kari reassured him. "Wormmon and Demiveemon earned some rest, especially Demiveemon, don't you think?"
Davis looked back to see his partner eating a ball of meat happily and smiled at the sight. "Yeah, you're right. You guys take care out there, okay?"
"Will do," Killua said. "Once they recover their strength you can come and join us, especially considering what the little guy is able to do now."
Davis smiled widened. His partner could actually be the solution to their issue with the towers. "Talk about Christmas Miracles, eh?" He joked.
Killua snorted at that, and Kari giggled.
Ken for his part sat on the couch and focused, slowly the figure of a new notebook appeared on his hands, slightly different from the last one, "Time to start again for now."
"Don't worry; I'm sure you'll have it ready in no time!" Yolei encouraged as she fit a bento made my Izzy's mother for the travel.
Ken smiled at her and nodded. "Right, thank you."
Kae helped Izzy fit his own bento on his backpack. "You really didn't have to do this, mom."
"Please is the least I can do," She told him. "Just, be careful out there, okay?"
Izzy blushed a bit in embarrassment but nodded. "I will, we all will."
With all the food packed, the group got out of the department and to the streets below. They raised their Digivices and their partners adopted forms capable of carrying them all.
"Agumon Digivolves to… Greymon! Greymon Ultra Digivolves to… MetalGreymon!"
"Gatomon Armor Digivolves to… Nefertimon! The Angel of Light!"
"Patamon Digivolves to… Angemon!"
"Hawkmon Digivolves to… Aquilamon!"
"Tentomon Digivolves to… Kabuterimon!"
"Piyomon Digivolves to… Birdramon! Birdramon Ultra Digivolves to… Garudamon!"
The group dispersed throughout the city, all of them ready to face the Deadmon that were invading their world. Although some of them might get more than what they expected…
"They achieved another evolution…" Arukenimon seethed.
Oikawa hummed, not looking really bothered. "Let's prepare for the plan B then…"
"You don't trust Hisoka and Mephismon?" Arukenimon asked in mock surprise.
"In their skills, not that much," Oikawa said. "But it's better to always be prepared."
Arukenimon got up from her chair. "What if those brats manage to actually achieve the Mega level? Do you think the weapon would be enough?"
His eyes flashed blue and he gave a cold chuckle. "Fufufu… Dear, Arukenimon. I know so. BlackMetalGarurumon is already recovering, and BlackWargreymon will soon be in our grasp again. And once he is, he will finally get his precious purpose he fought hard to get."
Both their ideal world will become a reality. One that Oikawa always dreamed about and one that his newfound master the one who gave him all the means to make it a reality will rule.
Everything was playing on their favor, and if the creatures of the ocean did their part then the Digidestined are not going to be a part of that ideal world.
A/N: Done.
My first idea for this chapter was to show what Hisoka and Mephismon were up to, but the chapter was coming out too long and my plans for when that happen would have stolen Davis' spotlight.
Everyone has obtain their Ultimates. So now there's only one threshold to surpass. Let's see how that goes.
Also… I hate my brain. I haven't finished this, nor the Fallen Knight, and I have THREE stories on hold, and yet I continue to have ideas for fics.
The main ones being a Kimetsu no Yaiba x Legend of Korra fic. Why Korra? I feel Tanjiro fits better on that series rather than ATLA.
And then there's a Naruto x… MM Power Rangers fic.
Someone tell my brain to shut up and let me focus on one thing at the time.
But in the meantime:
