Chapter 6
Thorin slowed his pony to look back at the others. "We'll rest here for the night and gather supplies," Thorin said firmly as they got to Bree.
Linetta got off her pony slowly next to Bilbo who was having a hard time getting off of his. She turned her head to see that he was having problems. "Do you need help?" She asked softly, petting the muzzle of her pony.
Bilbo's cheeks flushed in embarrassment. "N-no. I got it." He said as he gracelessly got off the pony landing hard on his feet.
Linetta's hand went up to her lips as she giggled. "Never rode a pony before?" She questioned softly looking at him.
Bilbo fixed the coat he wore. "No, can't say I have," Bilbo said, huffing a bit as he finished fixing his coat. "You a-an experienced rider?"
Linetta's hand stroked the nose of her pony again. "Well, yes." She admitted softly as she looked at him, her cheeks flushing darker. "We were raised into it. I suppose Hobbits don't ride often?"
"That would be correct." He said looking over at her. "We do many shares of walking holidays." He rubbed the back of his neck. "It's odd me not knowing how to ride is it?"
Linetta waved her hand letting out a soft chuckle. "Not all creatures ride. They learn to ride… so no. Not at all." She said as she began to walk to get supplies for the trip that they would need.
Biblo watched her with a curious gaze before looking away, his cheeks flushing slightly in embarrassment. "No, can't think that." He thought to himself. "Even though she is beautiful."

Shaylee walked through the markets looking for things that they needed on the trip. She was in charge of gathering some food along with some of the others. She picked up a bag and began to fill it with apples.
"Finding something sweet?" A male voice rang out causing the young fae to turn around. Her cheeks flushed pink at the sight of Fili.
"Oh… yes." She said shyly, holding out an apple. "Thought we could use some fruits and vegetables on the trip."
Fili gave her a boyish smile. "I would think that's wise. Is that what princesses in your kingdom eat?" He asked curiously.
Shaylee blinked a few times in confusion. "Fruits and Vegetables?"
Fili nodded his head.
Her eyes went to the beads that hung in his beard. She cleared her throat shyly looking away. "I'm an Autumn Fae. We tend to eat this type of thing among other things." She said as she put the apple into the bag.
"Why would you join this quest willingly? There are only four of you…" Fili said as he helped her pick apples, putting them into the bag.
Shaylee paid the man for the apples. "Well, my mother deemed it not wise…" She shrugged her shoulders. "I didn't see what the point was of not going. Going meant reclaiming a home and Faes… well they were fond of homes."
"But why you?"
"I may be royal, but I'm good at what I do. I am a skilled fighter…. I just…" She took a breath looking at Fili. "I want you to have your home back…"
Fili looked at her in awe. "You weren't even born when the mountain was taken…"
"Neither were you… I've heard stories from the Winter Fae that were there… but sadly it is one of the best-kept secrets of the Winter Fae… not admitting much that happened."
"I wonder why?"
"Winter Fae likes to keep things close to the vest… All I know is that there were deaths of the Winter Fae that day… and supposedly the King died saving your kind…" She said as she went to the next booth.
"I don't know the full story either… my uncle…" Fili let out a breath. "He won't go into the Winter Fae being there… they were just there… it's like he holds something on his shoulders that he isn't telling anyone."
"Do you think he is?"
"What?"
"Have something on his shoulders that he isn't talking about."
Fili let out a breath running his hands over his beard. "I'm not sure."

Aurora noticed Kili sitting on some wooden crates holding something in his hand. She came over to him slowly trying her best to not scare him. "What's that?" She asked curiously coming next to him to see what he held in his hands.
"Oh… Aurora." He said shyly, running his hand over the black stone he had that had runes on it.
"Obsidian, right?" She questioned looking at the stone in awe.
"Yes."
"It's beautiful. We don't get to see many stones like that." She admitted softly pushing some of her blonde hair back. "Why do you have it?"
"It's just a token," Kili said softly, running his fingers over it again. A small smile came to his lips. "A runestone. My mother gave it to me so I'd remember my promise."
"A promise? What kind of promise?" Aurora asked curiously, touching the stone lightly with her thin fingertips.
"That I will come back to her."
Aurora slowly moved her hand away.
"She worries. She thinks I'm reckless."
"And are you?"
"Nah." He said with a small chuckle.
Aurora gave him a small smile. "It's a wonderful token… a good promise." She reached inside her traveling shirt and pulled out a small flower chain that was made of silver.
"What's that?"
"Something that my father gave me before I left home. He worried that I was not going to be safe enough…"
"Are you reckless?"
Aurora let out a soft chuckle. "The most reckless thing I did was heal a baby bird when it fell from its nest."
"Healed?"
Aurora put her hand over his shining pale green color.
"What…"
"My abilities." She admitted softly looking up at him.
"You… you have magical gifts?"
"All fae do." She admitted softly. "Some faes have abilities better than others, but we all have some sort of gift." She slowly removed her hand. "I can only heal small things… I'm not good at healing larger things."
"I'm sure that you can with practice."
Aurora's cheeks flushed as the coloring went to the tips of her pointed ears. "You think that don't you?" She asked softly, looking up at him.
A boyish smile came across his face. "I do. What's more awesome than that?"
"Being compared to elves that do it better." She said softly, looking down.
"You could beat any elf with your skill."
Aurora cleared her throat shyly. "Tha thu a' smaoineachadh gu bheil thu cho suave."
"What was that?"
"Language of the faes… not easy to understand is it?" She said shyly looking up at him.
Kili rubbed the back of his neck. "Do you know Khazul?"
"Very little of it." She admitted softly.
Kili smiled softly. "Maybe we can teach each other how to speak?"
Aurora's face lit up in happiness. "I would like that."

Win carried her things to her room for the night. She stopped when she heard the heavy footsteps of a dwarf behind her. She had a good idea of who it was. She turned her head to see Thorin walking behind her. "Room for the night?" She questioned as she carried her things to the room that she was in.
"Aye," Thorin said with a nod of his head. He noticed the room that she stopped at. "Seems like they are doubling up on the rooms."
Win let out a soft hum. "It seems like it." She looked at him out of the corner of her eyes.
"My room is next door," Thorin said, giving her a small smile.
"Oh…" She said softly. "Well, it will be like the old days won't it."
"We're not as young as we used to be." Thorin mused softly.
"True. We're not as young as we used to be to sneak out and see the stars at the mountain." She said softly remembering the few times that they snuck out to see the stars from the mountain.
"Well, I suppose you wouldn't want to even try to sneak out at our ages."
"Are you saying we're old Thorin?" She questioned looking at him and tilting her head to the side.
"We are."
"But I don't think we're too old for stargazing. We'll get to do it on this journey nightly as long as the weather holds up." She said, offering him a small smile.
Thorin gave her a small smile.
"Tha an gàire sin air a bheil gaol agam."
Thorin felt his cheeks heat up at her words. "You're too kind to me."
"And I always will."
Thorin touched her cheek lightly with his strong hand. "Perhaps we will have more on this journey besides just nightly gazes at the stars."
Win's cheeks flushed and the tips of her ears as well. "Is dòcha. Chan urrainn dha ach dòchas a bhith agad." She cleared her throat shyly. "I should go and put my things down…I'm sure you want a good night's rest before we begin tomorrow."
Thorin nodded his head slowly. "Yes, have a good night Win."
"You too Thorin." She said softly before going into her room taking a soft breath as she closed her door. "Carson nach urrainn dhomh dìreach na tha mi an dòchas a nì an turas seo a ràdh? gar toirt nas fhaisge air a chèile... Chan eil mi a' smaoineachadh gun urrainn dhomh tuiteam ann an gaol nas motha na tha agam mu thràth."

This is the end of Chapter 6. I hope that you enjoyed it. Yay finally an OG chapter. Something that will lead up to the rest of the story. I know that I am going to try to have some more bonding moments between the couples. I'm just curious, who do you think will admit their feelings first? Thorin and Win, Kili and Aurora, Fili and Shaylee, or Bilbo and Linetta? I'm curious to hear what you think. Please leave a review and let me know what you think of this chapter. I tried my hardest to make it a good and long chapter. I think I did alright in making it a good long one. Reviews help me keep going when it comes to writing. It helps keep the muse going. I hope to have the next chapter out soon. Until next time.
Tha thu a' smaoineachadh gu bheil thu cho suave.- You think you're so suave.
Tha an gàire sin air a bheil gaol agam.- There's the smile that I love.
Is dòcha. Chan urrainn dha ach dòchas a bhith agad.- Perhaps. One can only hope.
Carson nach urrainn dhomh dìreach na tha mi an dòchas a nì an turas seo a ràdh? gar toirt nas fhaisge air a chèile... Chan eil mi a' smaoineachadh gun urrainn dhomh tuiteam ann an gaol nas motha na tha agam mu thràth.- Why can't I just say what I hope this journey does? Bringing us closer together... I don't think I can fall in love any more than I already have.
