Author's note. I've just recently became a fan of Hazbin Hotel. I went on the site to see if there were any Harry Potter crossovers and only found a few. The same for Helluva Boss. Then I wondered what would happen if Lucifer was also interested in sending Voldemort's soul to Hell for Punishment and found Harry instead. I imagined the goofy and artistic Lucifer I saw on the tv show raising Harry in Hell. So, I did some research on Hazbin Hotel's origins.
But then I found out of HH: Journey to the Light. It gave a more in-depth description of the story and its' characters. But Lucifer was more of a sadistic torturer instead of a goofball. Reading his history, I learned that the rubber ducks were not a hobby, but the souls of everyone in Hell. He said souls were as meaningless as toys and he didn't give a damn about Sinners or ruling his kingdom. He even called Charlie's idea of redemption stupid and abused her and her friends. Then he even killed all the guests at the hotel.
There wasn't a mention of God in the tv show, but there was in the Journey story. Also, it follows more into leading a rebellion against Heaven role.
So, my story is going to follow the television show, not the Journey to light. I'm probably going to mess it up a lot, so criticism is welcomed.
Hope everyone enjoys.
First, there was Heaven. The realm of the angels. It provided the light that illuminated the universe and kept the darkness at bay. Then, came the Earth. With it came day and night, land and sea, the animals, and the sky. And from the dust of their creations, the elders of Heaven created the first man and woman.
But then came Hell.
When the female human, Eve, took the offering to eat an apple from the Tree of Knowledge, it caused a calamity that shook the foundations of the universe. For with this act, humans gained the freedom of choice and were no longer required to obey Heaven's laws. Through the Tree of Knowledge, the Root of Evil cracked through the Earth and Heaven's light. In the roots, a new realm was created. A realm of Sin and Punishment.
When a human being died, the choices they made in life would determine where their souls would reside. A life balance between the Seven Virtues of Heaven or the Seven Sins of Hell. These choices would weigh the path of a soul.
But the temptation of sin is often the winner.
For thousands of years, this has been the fate of humanity. And sadly, more Sinners end up in Hell than in Heaven. For a Sinner, their fate resides in the first ring of Hell: the ring of Pride. It's here were the worst of the worst reside. Even after death, Sinners still take the evil pleasures they had in life and perverse them even more in Hell.
The biggest city in the Pride Ring was Pentagram City. It was filled with Sinners, demons, imps, and other creations. It was like any city on Earth, with buildings, apartments, restaurants, and shops. But they were more related to sin, as they had porn shops, bars, bordellos. Here, everyone fought claw and teeth to be on the top. Climb enough and a Sinner could be an Overlord, a powerful demon with magnificent powers.
However, those powers paled in comparison to the King of Hell.
Lucifer Morningstar.
An Archangel of Heaven, Lucifer was what many would call a black sheep. His ideas for Earth and Heaven were considered too bold and unrefined. The other Angels deemed him to be trouble and left him out of many of their creations. But nevertheless, he was a dreamer and watched with anticipation.
When the first humans, Adam and Lilith, were made, Adam tried to impose his dominance on Lilith. She refused him and ran from the Garden. This act of defiance caused the Elders to create another woman for Adam: Eve.
Lucifer found Lilith and the two fell in love. Her acts of defiance and his love of inspiration brought them together.
Sad to see Eve was created to obey Adam's wishes, Lucifer snuck into the garden with an apple from the Tree of Knowledge. Lucifer, disguised as a serpent, whispered all the great things the power of choice could do for Eve. Intrigued by Lucifer's ideals, she disobeyed Heaven and ate the apple.
Following the cataclysm of Eve's choice, Lucifer and Lilith were cast from Heaven and Earth to the Hell that was created. And since the beginning of creation, Lucifer was the King of Sinners who made the wrong choices in the life they were given. And seeing only the evil in humanity, not the good, caused Lucifer to go into a deep depression.
And right now, the King of Hell was attempting to break his record at rubber duck stacking.
"Easy, easy," the King muttered. In his hands was three rubber ducks. He stood on one foot, reaching his arm over his head at the pile of toys before him. His balance was twittering, since he was using a ladder to reach the pile.
"Yes. Just a few more." Lucifer grabbed another duck from pile and added it to the stack. "Just...a…few…"
"QUACK! QUACK! QUACK!"
"What the fuck?! NOOOO!" He yelled as the noise startled him and caused him to fall into the stack he had created in the past five hours. In just a few seconds, the hundreds of stacked toys had toppled over. The avalanche of ducks shook the large manor.
A few moments later, Lucifer's head popped out of the giant pile of rubber ducks. He looked around at the mess. "Nooooo. I only had a few more for my personal-" a final duck bounced off his head "-best." The King of Hell disappeared into his mess before using his powers to blow the ducks away from him. He was breathing heavily, his red eyes blazing with fire.
"All right, where is the dead fucker who just ruined-"
"QUACK! QUACK! QUACK!"
His irritation dismissed as Lucifer realized with the quacking was. It was an alarm duck, one of few that resided above his desk. This alarm, however, was tied to a soul that was on Earth. A soul that caught the attention of Lucifer years ago.
Rushing to his desk, Lucifer pulled the duck off the shelf and laid on the desk. A moment later, the duck's mouth opened, and a piece of paper rolled out. Lucifer grabbed it and held it to the light. What he read caused him to grin maliciously, his sharp teeth glistening.
"Got you now, you slick son of a bitch." He turned his head to the calendar on his desk. The X's on the days revealed what day it was on Earth and Hell.
October 31, 1981. All Hallows Eve.
"You done fucked up. You split your soul on the one day I can go to Earth without a summons. Now, I'm coming for your ass."
For the past 50 years, there has been an individual on Earth who was committing one of the most foul and dark crimes a human could do to themselves: splitting their soul into pieces. Now, Lucifer didn't really care what Sinners did on Earth. He quit trying to redeem Sinners long ago. But this individual was splitting his soul to remain immortal. That was something that wasn't going to fly for the King of Hell.
The past five times, Lucifer could only send his contacts on Earth to the location of the individual's crime. Each time, the search was a bust.
But now, he could do the searching. And this slippery weasel wasn't getting away this time.
Standing up from his desk, Lucifer, dressed in white pants, black-heeled boots, and a red and white waistcoat over a white shirt. He wasn't….tall. Standing only Five-foot, one, he walked over to grab his top hat, white suit jacket, and apple-topped cane. With his cane, he tapped it on the ground and a purple, pentagram appeared on the floor.
"Gordric's Hollow, England."
In the village of Gordric's Hollow, the children were wrapping up their last-minute trick-or-treating and heading home. A cool breeze blew through trees lining the streets, removing any lingering leaves off their stems. And in the middle of the street, a burst of flames erupted from the asphalt. They formed a pentagram and the King of Hell rose from the ground. Fully emerging, he brushed the soot from his suit and pointed his cane towards the house.
"And now, I finally found you. Your soul is-what the fuck?"
Green flashes were shimmering in the second-story windows in a room. A moment later, and explosion blew out the roof and one-bedroom wall at the windows Lucifer was just pointing at before.
"Oh shit, did I do that?" Lucifer muttered. A few seconds later, all the debris finally settled. Luckily, nothing was on fire from the blast. But Lucifer was sure the explosion would attract Sinners to their location. And he still could sense the soul he was chasing still in the upstairs bedroom.
"You're not getting away," Lucifer muttered. "I'll be damned if I lose your soul tonight."
He pushed passed the gate and walked towards the front door, which was hanging on one hinge. Someone used a lot of force to blast it open. And the moment he stepped through the doorway, Lucifer could feel the power of the family inside. These Sinners had the smallest ability to use the power that created them thousands of years ago. An ability Sinners called magic.
The living room was trashed. Lucifer paused when he saw a man on the floor near the stairs. He was young with dark-hair and glasses. And very much dead. They were many ways to kill with magic, but Lucifer couldn't see any visible wounds so it must have been one that stopped his heart. Lucifer knelt and placed a hand on the dead man's face.
"James Potter. 21. And the self-sacrifice you gave earned you a path upstairs with the hypocrites. Good luck with that."
Lucifer's gaze turned up the stairs where he could still feel the soul's presence. He walked up and made his way to the bedroom that just exploded earlier. He found the bedroom with a partially closed door. He could feel a live soul still in the bedroom. It had to be the individual he was chasing.
"Got you now," Lucifer muttered. Feeling dramatic, he kicked the door open and brandished his cane. "Your soul is-!"
"Waaaagghhhhahahaha!"
"Oh, shit. I mean shoot!"
He just broke into the room of a one-year old that was still very much alive. The babe was standing up, holding onto the railing of his crib. Tears were leaking down his red, wet face.
"Shh, shh, shhh. It's okay," Lucifer said in a soothing voice as he approached the crib. He reached down and picked up the toddler by his arms. He gently rocked him in his arms. "I'm sorry. I was just trying be scary for…."
Lucifer trailed off as he still felt the soul he was chasing in the room. In fact, he felt himself holding it. He reached his hand and brushed aside the dark bangs on the infant's forehead. There, as though carved with a knife, was a lightning-shaped mark. The source of the soul he was chasing.
With a growl, he just realized the Sinner he was chasing split his soul for the sixth time and placed it inside the infant. Once again, the Sinner kept himself from judgement by anchoring himself to the mortal realm.
The infant, a boy, was beginning to calm down at Lucifer's gentle rocking. Lucifer detested all sinners, but he had some love for children. Mostly from being a father himself. Children were unable to understand they were born into sin. Even making the wrong decisions at a young age could damn them to Hell.
Lucifer then noticed another body in the room. He guessed it was the mother, young with red hair and the same vacant eyes as her husband. He knelt while still holding the baby and placed a hand on her face.
"Lily Potter. 22. Again, sent upstairs because…"Lucifer trailed off as a thoughtful look as he looked back at the infant. "Well, well. Her sacrifice gave you a protection against Sinner who killed her. The explosion earlier was the backlash of her protection and the Sinner's spell against you."
Lucifer rose back up. "And end doing so, separated the Sinner's soul a sixth time and making you the vessel for it. Which means the Sinner was killed in the backlash but is now wandering the world, less than a ghost because of you and the other five anchors."
Which also meant until the Sinner was once again free to roam the mortal world. He most had missed it escape during the explosion. The King of Hell really wanted to swear, but not while there was a child present.
"So, what to do with you," Lucifer drifted off and noticed the letters on the bedroom door that he missed earlier.
Harry.
"Let's see if I can do anything about removing that bit of garbage from your soul, little Harry. It wouldn't do you any good to carry it around. It might influence your decisions in life. When you arrive in my Kingdom later after your death, it should be by your own choices."
He placed the boy down back into the crib and placed a hand on his forehead, covering the scar.
"And let's see if I can find out more about this Sinner who's been evading me."
If the boy was an adult, Lucifer wouldn't have cared about ripping the shard from his soul. Just as long as he got what he wanted. However, on one hand, the soul was still in a child. Even he wouldn't go that low to get what he wanted. Another reason was removing the shard recklessly could damage it and Lucifer wouldn't get the information he wanted.
So the King of Hell got to work, sending his power into the scar. Even freshly made, the new soul shard was already buried into Harry's soul. It was like a tick with fishhook mandibles. Carefully, the first hook was released.
"…find them, now!..."
Lucifer could see the first memory in the soul shard. He could feel the Sinner's anger and greed at locating what he wanted. He guessed it was Harry's dead parents.
Another hook.
"…they know where the boy…."
One more hook.
"…prophecy to end me…."
Lucifer let go of the soul shard.
A prophecy?
"Damn it all to Heaven," Lucifer muttered.
He hated prophecies. If an actual prophecy was made by humans, then Lucifer was bound by the ancient laws of the universe not to interfere. Not even his brothers and sisters in Heaven could interfere. Which meant he couldn't try to kill the Sinner's body and take his soul.
And right now, he was watching over a child of fate, who was currently trying to see if he could put his hand in his mouth.
"Now what do I do?"
He could leave the child there. Surely someone will take care of him. When Sinner emergency services arrived, they could take Harry to family member or even another family. And when Harry passed away, due to the prophecy, old age, or whatever kills Sinners these days, he and the soul shard would be sent to Hell. In which time, Lucifer could retrieve the soul shard and find his answers there.
But something was bugging him about the prophecy. If there was one that foresaw this boy ending a Sinner who split his soul into five pieces, how was Harry supposed to do that? Sure, he could feel the boy had magical powers, just like his parents. However, once a soul shard has been placed in an object, it was nearly impossible to destroy. Something not many magical beings could accomplish.
Lucifer sight and picked up Harry again. He had to know more about this prophecy. Luckily, there was a royal family in Hell who was an expert in prophecies on Earth. So, the plan was to take the boy to Hell, find out what the prophecy was and little Harry's role in it, send the boy back to surface where he'll be taken care of, then expect the boy to fulfill his prophecy.
"Come on, little one. We're going to take a quick trip. You'll be back before you know it."
With that, Lucifer tapped his cane twice on the bedroom floor and the two disappeared in a flash of hellfire.
But before he could fully disappear, someone else stepped onto the flames and followed them to Hell.
Moments later, a half-giant appeared in front of the house. A few miles away, a man on a flying motorcycle approached.
Now, before you give me the flames, I'm going to add more in the next chapter. More on Harry's fate. Stay tuned.
